I finally got to mourn with others tonight. My synagogue was as full as a high holiday service. Seeing my rabbi I admire more than anyone crying broke my heart, she gave me a hug and told me I was so important to her. I think that's one of those voice clips that will stay in my brain forever. I don't have a mom so it just hit me hard. A 70 year old woman I'd just met insisted on driving me home, we talked about our worries for innocent Palestinians who are suffering while mourning the horrors we've seen the past few days, the stories of all the people who are gone that people knew personally at the vigil tonight. The lady told me if I hid the 10$ I offered her for gas in her car she'd hunt me down.. So I left 11$. I hope I see her again

I hate HATE jekyll&Hyde adaptations that turn hyde into Jack The Ripper 2.0 even tho he has nothing to do w prostitutes in the novel!! I get that they want hyde to be the worst scumbag n all and yes that's right, but he only killed 1 person (2 if you count lanyon but that was manslaughter) and dropkicked a child in the novel!! He's not some murderer that goes around killing everyone on sight- much less prostitutes. Where do ppl even get that idea from :////

Enfield said Hyde "carried on...like Satan" in the first chapter, and then the maid says he "carried on... like a madman" when he killed Carew. The way it changes connotation from "this guy isn't human" to "this guy is one of us gone wrong" at the exact time the boundaries between Jekyll and Hyde started to blur. The way that seemingly insignificant change of words completely changes the nature of what Hyde is-- from satanic spawn to regrettably human. I hate you robert louis stevenson you make being an author look easy.

I know we love giving Jekyll a wife, but what about giving Jekyll a daughter? I think it would be suuuper interesting to see Jekyll (and Hyde) trying to raise a kid.

Let’s make her a girl because I love father daughter relationships. the girl would be like 5 years old and probably from one of Hyde’s one night stands. Jekyll would only learn about her after the mother has passed and would take her in out of guilt and some form of responsibility. 

I’d imagine Jekyll trying to be a good father but he comes off as awkward and somewhat distant. The girl eventually becomes attached to Hyde (despite his attempts) and somehow becomes a fun weird uncle who’s a terrible influence on her, making Jekyll jealous of Hyde (himself). Wonder how the public and Jekyll’s close friends would react to him adopting some random child?

tbh i think volo would have been significantly more normal and fine if he hadn’t been hiding so much of his true feelings and personality. like when you deny yourself genuine human connection to that degree you’re probably going to come off as a machiavellian monster who wants to make the world and the lives of others worse, but looking at his actual stated motivations and intentions it’s clear to me at least that the guy is deeply empathetic and idealistic and more than anything disappointed that the world can’t be better

I have successfully had my sad little cry, sorted everything out, got help with ordering prints and sent out every single package that didnt require stamps today. I still do not have a replacement card but I found help with doing everything I can to get things moving. :) Thank you everyone for the patience and 1000 years of bad luck to that thief's bloodline Also-- Someone sent me an anon asking if I would put a specific print back up for them because they were sad they missed it when it was up. I did order it for you. :)

I'm working on a research project at the moment, focusing on unreliable narrators and how the human mind creates alternate realities as a form of psychological protection! I'm comparing 2 texts for it and I would love to do a magnus archives statement for one of them but I can't think of a good episode for it so if anyone has any suggestions that would be amazing :D

With all this talk of doubles/twins/doppelgangers in this decade's horror scene , I feel like now would be a perfect time for a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Big Movie. Like, let's just go all in and look closer at what "I had strange thoughts that made me feel tremendous shame even though I'm an active source of good for my community (but if they knew they'd hate me, surely) and so I sought a way to get rid of them as forcefully as I could by dumping them onto/into someone else" has to offer.
