As much as I'm enjoying the Doctor parent moments with Ifrit and Rosmontis, I am so glad that Hypergraph had Doctor show the kind of visceral anger one would feel if they found out that they were standing in front of a monster who inflicted horrific cruelty on a child and absolutely had no problem with retraumatizing that same child by trying to get them to recall the abuse they suffered/gaslighting them to justify the abuse. Like Hypergraph could've had Doctor ratio Loken Williams with some 5-D chess Talk No Justu, say some comforting words to Rosmontis, and move on with the plot.

But in that moment, Rosmontis wasn't an elite operator on standby awaiting orders. She was a scared child standing in front of her abuser and Doctor was an adult suddenly confronted with the reality of what this asshole represented to her.

Hypergraph letting Doctor process all that information and deciding that Loken Williams deserved to be left righted on the spot was very much appreciated. But I will always applaud the fact that they made it into a player interaction and let the player decide how Doctor should go to bat for Rosmontis. ❤️

Isidore Isou

Hypergraphie, polylogue 1964 (1988)

Born in Romania in 1925, Isidore Isou arrived in Paris at the end of World War II. He called himself a ‘Lettrist’, a movement of which he was initially the only member. By 1950, the Lettrist group also included Maurice Lemaitre, Jean-Louis Brau, Gil J. Wolman and Francois Dufrene, who were joined by Guy Debord in 1951.1 Lettrism, also known as hypergraphie, and super-écriture, had its theoretical roots in Dada and Surrealism, and called for a renovation of all the arts. The first public manifestation of the new artistic movement took place in January 1946 at the Societes Savantes, where Isou read his sound poems out loud. The next year, Gallimard published his Introduction to a New Poetry and a New Music. From there, in numerous publications that followed in rapid succession, Isou communicated his desire to radically transform society and applied his theories to all areas of art and culture, most notably in poetry, film, painting and political theory. He would eventually publish over 200 books, containing his ‘hypergraphic’ writings, ‘metagraphic’ images, plays, theoretical writings, polemics, wall posters, etc.

In the plastic field, Lettrism is based on the merging of image and word. The plastic use of the letter or sign would not signify anything other than itself, thus transcending traditional conventions of meaning by emphasising the form of the letter over representation. Isou conceived Lettrism as fundamentally different from movements that preceded it, representing a complete shift from figuration and abstraction to the plastic use of the symbol of letters or signs. While Isou acknowledged that some artists associated with the Bauhaus and Cubism, and artists such as Marcel Duchamp, approached qualities of Lettrism, Isou declared that these artists ultimately faltered by subjecting letters to function and burdening them with meaning, rather than granting them independence and allowing them to become pure form. As Isou wrote in 1961: ‘… the important thing was not to introduce letters into painting, but to reduce the whole picture to letters, or rather, to the order of letters.’2

Does the character have other characters connected to them? Do you have a family tree and "offscreen" connections made up for them or do they exist in a vacuum purely for the purpose of the story?

I did this for the Atom Bomb Babies, but in general, yeah, all of my OCs are connected -- not in a way that you could build a family tree out of, though, unless everyone got real cool with extradimensional hypergraph creation real quick. Basically, they're all connected either by being incarnations or multiversal "clones" of each other, by being one of the aforementioned children of Atom, or something very similar to either of those things. And ultimately, they're all connected by being shards of Me, but that's the easy-mode answer, lol.

Even if I make an OC and think, "oh, this guy is a totally new thing, separate from the old things", the ol' echthr0sian corruption sets in and eventually I'm looking at said OC and thinking, "oh. this guy might be a new thing but it is in no way separate from the old things". It's a feature, not a bug, I swear. [squidward meme that I don't feel like editing right now] "we build intricate webs of self-replication here, sir"

So today puts the Siph networking architecture into near prototype status though I don't think I'd call what I'm doing hypergraphs more like layered graphs (2.5D?) so I'll be updating the PierMesh site's existing components statuses and adding a few more components. I think it might also be time to make a subdomain for Daisy and get the docs for it done soon

Asbestos is a lovely woman and a total cunt. She probably wouldn’t like me but that’s fine, she’s not real and I can be obsessed with her all I want! Hypergraph/yostar make an Asbestos plushie please

I would want to make an operator based on the Olm. I am forever fascinated by those bizarre things. She would be an old lady who has been surviving in a cave somewhere for probably decades. She’d be very tall, thin, and pale, not because I want to give in to gacha character design’s issues, I mean like almost unhealthily tall and thin and whatnot. I mean look at the Olm

She’d also be blind and have like really powerful arts of some kind. I don’t think olms are probably that wrinkly but since I’m leaning into the angle of olms being able to lie motionless in caves for years without eating, I would make her old and wrinkly and gaunt. She would wear a blindfold probably. Idk I’d have to think about it more but I love olms they’re so bizarre I’d love to see what like a professional character designer could do to make an olm girl
