if i can be a little more real than silly usually hyperbolic takes about a show i never liked very much i think what bothers me a lot about framing these shows as like, intending to uplift people is how fucking mean they are if you're a viewer who is fat or a woman or lgbt in any way that isnt a sexy cis gay man or poor or a vocally angry minority or a million other things.

i don't inherently really fault people massively for intending one thing in their writing and not sticking the landing, writing is hard, go figure. but when there is a clear demographic of people who you are obviously belittling, just innate characteristics they can't change, it feels disingenuous at best and cruel at worst to claim you're writing a story about finding love and hope in an unjust world. especially when the people you're belittling are statistically more likely to be victims of unjust systems.

I finally managed to beat the jorge questline and made quite the realization- the log about the sandwich being stolen and something tracking dust everywhere is most likely actually referring to jorge, considering the context you get it in and the fact that we know jorge is from pre-earth-explosion.

I think this does give some sort of idea as to how big a dupe is, because obviously he'd have to be small enough to not be noticed in his sandwich thievery... ik youve probably combed thru these logs dozens of times by now but as a fellow lore enjoyer i feel like you'd find this interesting

Ive never thought of the idea that dupe Jorge could have been the one stealing the sandwich, that's a cool theory! I personally always assumed it has something to do with one of the previous logs for the hermit story, but looking back on it, it is called a pod entry, which would imply the crashed thing they're extricating resources from was a printing pod related vessel, which means that dupes might have been on board. As such, it would make sense if one of them survived, and was sneaking around stealing food to survive. I had always assumed that B577 was Jorge's doner, explaining Jorge's relevance, but that's actually a rly good point you made and this has helped me understand this log a lot better! I will say though, on the topic of dupe size I tend to be pretty iffy on size speculation given that a lot of ppl tend to ping them as Much smaller than they likely are, as while they're definitely smaller than normal humans they're most likely not like teeny tiny, more likely being roughly half of their donors height based on the very few direct pieces of dialogue we have about duplicant height in relation to human height. I do imagine that a small height likely played a role in his ability to stay hidden, but I think it'd be a rly neat detail if B577 was Jorge's donor and that also contributed to him staying under the radar, with him looking similar enough to get away with being caught at the edge of someone's vision for a moment, especially since he seems to have actually been kind of attached to Ren and Banhi, given the toolbox description and the description of it holding sentimental value to Jorge. Perhaps he was lonely there, and saw the others as friends in a strange way?

Either way this actually lines up a lot more with my initial idea of what his deal probably was, I had thought of him as smth of an escaped dupe who was in hiding before everything went down. Neat stuff!

Things other people do that ( personally ) help me regress easier !!

🦢 Talking to me like a child ! Having someone talk to me the same way you would talk to a young child ( using a baby voice , kind of patronizingly , gentle encouragement , avoiding heavier topics ) helps solidify that regressed mindset easily . It also helps a lot when people use nicknames for me such as little bug , little love , little one , sweetie , baby , kiddo , etc .

🐦‍⬛ Encouraging me to feel my feelings ! When I'm regressed, offering a safe space for me to express how I feel , both positively and negatively , is crucial for me to stay regressed . This includes comforting me during tantrums or reassuring me without being asked to .

🕊️ Taking care of me ! Enforcing some rules to give my day a little routine when regressed helps me feel little . Rules might include : A bedtime , set times for hygiene , rules related to meals , etc . Although I personally don't like rules that are too strict , or these rules being enforced when I'm not regressed . Another part of taking care of me is when people gently encourage me to regress ! I often get scared and hesitant to regress due to my own insecurities , especially when I'm regressing around someone else . Having someone who encourages my regression and is happy to be around me while regressed is amazing. This might include little keywords / phrases that encourage regression as well ( ex. " you're too little for that , " " why dont you go put on [ agere show ] , " " how about you go get your stuffies and get comfy " ) .

♟️ Encouraging / engaging is activities with me ! Putting on a show that helps me regress , treating my stuffed animals / toys as if they're real and have lives of their own , allowing me to ramble about stuff I love , etc all helps me regress ! Another thing is : imaginative play !!! Even if its as big as actively engaging in play or just encouraging me to talk about my toys ( ex . " oh ? the stuffie did what ? why did they do that ? and how did the toy respond ? thats so cool ! ) , it all helps !

☁️ Celebrating achievements ! If I'm regressed and I tell someone something and I seem proud of it / happy about it , it makes me SO happy when they are visibly proud of it / happy with me too ! This can range from things like eating , taking care of myself , or even just finishing a coloring page !

♣️ Encouraging my regression when I'm NOT regressed ! This is a major thing as I have BPD and struggle to believe that people love / care about me . So when someone encourages me to regress ( especially when it's cause they want to take care of me ) it means the whole world to me ! This can be done two ways , either directly asking me to regress or ( my personal favorite ) subtly encouraging me to regress !! Examples of subtle encouragement are : " you seem stressed , little one , do you want to turn on [ agere show ] and get comfy ? " " darling , why dont you take a break from [ stressor ] and color me a picture ? " " i love you , kiddo ! " , etc ) ( even just using petnames and talking to me like a child to encourage me to regress !!! )

I've been seeing more posts exalting the positive impact McCoy plays on the triumvirate and it had me wondering what would Spock and Kirk be like if McCoy had simply never joined up?

I like the pov that Spock is more comfortable in himself because McCoy needles and pushes him, but never tries to force him to change. So, Spock knows one human who will hear the most Vulcan stuff he has to say, will disagree and fight him on it, but will ultimately say it's alright that you think that. It's nice to have friends who listen to you without making you change

Spock also gets to learn what McCoy's thought processes are and understands what humans want through that. While a lot of their interactions are about what being Vulcan is like, a lot are also McCoy giving Spock a clear example of what being human means.

Can't find the gifs, but I'm thinking of scenes like when McCoy has a drink while Spock complains and McCoy's like, "you don't have to drink with me Spock, but at the very least dont disapprove of me" which is a clear instruction on how to spend off duty time together. Even the wish me luck scene has a "how can I grant you what I don't understand" which is also, hey, Spock, I'm human. Remember that.

And all of Galileo! All McCoy does is walk around and inform Spock why humans are responding the way they are

I think it helps Spock learn how to interact with his colleagues. He learns what he can expect of them, and what's too much.

All that's to say I think Spock'd be a right asshole to work with if he didn't have McCoy holding his hand and helping him chill tf out

And then Jim! I mean, we know that the Spock and McCoy bickering is how Jim thinks through problems. It also means that Spock and McCoy can disagree with Jim without directly challenging their captain's authority which would help the chain of command feel solid

On top of helping Jim make decisions, he's an old friend. He knows everything. And McCoy makes him eat, I know his Yeoman does as well but I feel like McCoy's thing of "I eat when the crew eats, that means you" is pretty unique. And medical command has the capacity to give orders to the captain like no one else does, but McCoy wields it as a friend not a colleague and that's gotta be helpful to him

Of course, part of why Spock and McCoy work is because Jim is there to show Spock not every human will jump down your throat, but that's for another post.

I think a Jim without McCoy would be all work no play. I think he'd be thinner, he'd have a terrible habit of falling in love then actually being devastated that he chooses the ship because he doesn't get the chance to relax and laugh onboard as he does with McCoy

i think in essence the way i like to work with leokuml is that they are always going to be equal. i kind of structure it like if leo pushes then he will also pull and takumi will respond in kind. equilibrium... i dont think that all relationships need to be equal all the time but for leo and takumi in particular i think it's an important part of their appeal for me.

by equal i dont necessarily mean that they have the exact same strengths and weaknesses or every conflict is a draw, it's just that the universe they live in will constantly keep them in check lol. leo is the prodigy mage and takumi is a skilled marksman and theyre not going to only encounter armored units or fliers, life will give them all sorts of adversaries and ultimately they will come to the conclusion they are on equal footing, even if they were clearly more suited for some situations than others. combat oriented example but i think something similar happens throughout their relationship.

so anyway thats just a bit on my basic thought process regarding this ship tho i might not generally get to succeed in portraying it. we're trying to talk myself up from a low point here and i think talking about this is pretty fun even tho i can't sum this text post up nicely.

Ok ok- hear me out. Having a specific vehicle, assumedly a custom vehicle by the way you said it was a really cool motorcycle (Or maybe you didn'tsay it was really cool and I'm just imagining that, but I'm too late to go look back at). The need for a vehicle would suggest a need for physical travel by means other than some form of televitation, which either means that he just has it for shits and giggles. Which OK go off I guess?? or you're multiverse travel system is altered in such a way that would make having a motorcycle practical. Actually where does he live? Does he live in the omega timeline or does he live in the anti void? Or does he have like a secret third location? I think some people make him a nomad which is really cool. I actually personally make him a partial-nomad, but he does have a little stop and rest place going on in outertale, but I'm rambling now and that's not what we're talking about. If he doesn't have a sit down residence then where would he even keep the motorcycle? How would he keep the motorcycle in good condition? Does he know how to do that stuff or does he take it to a mechanic? Is it just a random mechanic or does he have a personal mechanic? If he did live in the omega timeline, are people actively using some sort of transportation... Does the omega timeline have public transport???

when i was writing that specific hc i was mostly thinking about that popular headcanon that underswap sans would like motorcycles the same way undertale papyrus likes sports cars (dunno how he'd have a motorcycle bed but imagine....) and thats all i really had in mind.. but who says i cant make up some more headcanons on the spot..

I think he would get a motorcycle in a kinda fulfilling-old-wishes kinda way-like hes not trapped underground anymore, AND he can go to any au he wants (probably-Based off of abilities error has from being a glitch) so i think he totally would try to do things he couldn't before.

He lives in the omega timeline and is happy making friends there, which i think makes sense for his character. i dont personally see him as the kind of person to never settle, mostly based off some other headcannons of mines surrounding his want for long lasting relationships with people. But i really like the semi-nomad idea! It definitely makes a cool multiverse motorcycle practical as you said.

I also think that if he were to get a motorcycle purely out of wish fulfillment, he'd probably take alot of pride in keeping it in perfect condition :33 I think it could be a fun little hobby of his, learning the basics of being a mechanic (or just finding a real one in the omega timeline)

My Headcanons for Jotaro, His Wife, and Their Marriage

she has elegant giggles if she finds something funny.

at first i thought she would be bubbly suzie q and holly type of character but after her (really little) screentime and her wedding photo i doubted that.

she looks like career woman with formal and elegant appereance for most of the time. which is really opposite from jotaro's type araki revealed back then (his type was something like japanese housewife). i love polar opposites couple but i love couple that similar in act too so i have no problem with changing my headcanon(?)

she always hide her curiosity towards whatever jotaro hide. jotaro could go to another country under spw for months but she just, "okay. take care. don't forget to call us." and give him kisses before he leaves.

Hii! So in the documentary apparently they describe Henry and Patty as a "love story" n all so idk what version should I believe

Hi!! All I’m going to say to this is that a.) not all love is romantic/the duffers love to lean into the “referring to something as a love story but it ends up being platonic/familial” thing (see: mileven- as mike does love el, just not romantically), and b.) mileven has been marketed as a love story for years.

So, if that’s your standard for endgame ships, then mileven endgame ig.

Also, personally, I do think it’s more accurate to analyze the actual content of the show & the play instead of just going based on interviews- not that all interviews are worthless but you have to take them into account alongside the context of the piece of media the person is talking about- so, sure, Henry and Patty may be described as a “love story,” in an interview in the doc or whatever but that’s being said in the context of a series that tends to poke fun at & subvert traditional love stories & shift seemingly romantic love stories into platonic ones & also in the context of a series that LOVES to make people think about what theyre actually seeing instead of what theyre being told. (yknow the whole “show don’t tell,” “pulling back the curtain/they like the curtain & just want to listen to what theyre told” thing)

And I’d also like to add that Patty and Henry have also been directly referred to as “starcrossed lovers,” and compared to romeo and juliet by kate trefry & louis mccartney- just like how mileven has CONSTANT romeo and juliet/starcrossed lovers references. So, if interviews are a reliable source of evidence regarding whether or not Creelby is a romantic endgame couple, then that would mean that romantic endgame couples in ST get romeo and juliet parallels (something that mileven has tons of but byler lacks) and therefore mileven endgame i guess.

And at the end of the day, it’s up to you to choose what to believe! I don’t care what you choose to believe (and that sounds harsh but i just mean it in a neutral way) because I’m comfortable in my beliefs & assessment of things. I’ve got other things I prefer to think about and analyze re: ST than whether or not Creelby is evidence of byler endgame, because to me, that’s a pretty open and shut case & I’d rather focus on the actual mysteries of the show!

All I’d say is that this is all coming from someone who enjoys Creelby in fanon but understands the reality of it in canon, and from someone who’s seen the play multiple times in London and multiple times on Broadway, and who is responding to you from a place of “look, there’s even more byler proof here if you approach it from a place of gay Henry, considering TFS Henry’s direct parallels to Mike & Patty’s direct parallels to El (she has WAY more parallels to El that she does to Mike or Will), and how that reinforces the idea of Mike being gay.”

You can believe whatever you want, man! People disagreeing with me or you not knowing what to believe is no skin off my back- I just think it’s a bit of a shame to shut yourself off from other avenues of analysis, yknow? Like when you focus too much on the surface stuff (ie “the doc said theyre a love story so they must be a typical romantic love story”) you miss the potential to analyze things that might interest you that are in the actual source material- things like Mike-Henry parallels in the context of Henry’s gayness and the ways in which platonic love and romantic love can be mistaken for eachother in ST & how the duffers love subverting that stuff, the ways that patty is paralleled to the boy in nevada that Henry knew vs el being paralleled to Will etc etc!!

(^and especially re: byler colour theory too bc without getting too deep into my views on that, as i dont believe the blue and yellow stuff is about byler, i would be wary of using blue and yellow stuff from TFS for byler re: “henry’s yellow patty’s blue” because young 8 year old henry also wears both blue and yellow at the same time & patty wears other outfits with both of them at the same time & overall i also just think that the colour theory stuff has an origin point somewhere other than byler, esp since we have the yellow dimension x & blue UD *and* since we see young 8 year old henry in blue and yellow before mike or will were even born AND before he even met patty so i dont really see how it’s a byler/creelby byler parallels thing as the blue and yellow stuff predates both byler and creelby. i think there’s far more reliable byler evidence out there than the colour stuff- hell i KNOW there is because i’ve analyzed it!)

I agree that some labels can kind of deconstruct the history of characters and their stories, but it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things! cause people will tell them hey! this is kinda ooc, and usually people will make their own version of the character/au/etc or fix it up a bit to be more in character.

Time to get onto this persons own diagnosis on cross, SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE IT IS CANON THAT CROSS HAS DID??? I have never once seen that it is canon that he has DID, which makes this a headcanon if this person, and if you ask me DID headcanons can be FAR more harmful within their community than trans ones. DID is already so terribly stigmatised, and when you describe cross theyway they do with extreme agression, "going crazy about the past", no control over emotions expecially anger, and willing to do anything to get what he wants, these are all pretty HARMFUL STEREOTYPES buddy pal chum friendo. Cross being trans seems much less harmful and damaging of the integrity of the character/their story than this persons own personal diagnosis.

Jakei did that because Jakei is based af and cares about their community. overall, cross being trans is just a headcanon that the community likes a whole lot cause we are all gay af, at least most of us. this headcanon does not ruin the story, the character, or anything like that, its just for funsies like most headcanons and people need to get their heads outta their asses about it istg. you are in the gay fandom, what do you expect???

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? god um ok. one sec. it's definitely 白镜 - White Mirror. tragic lesbians... most of what i write has a happy or at least ambiguous ending but this one follows canon so it's a tragedy instead

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? never say never but probably the seongjoong royalty au. i had it planned and everything but then people started discoursing around eden and the planned ending i wrote was potentially too topical, so i waited and then i lost steam.

What are your writing strengths? flow i think? ive always been pretty good at keeping things moving at a good pace. i edit myself a lot (and practice editing on some actual published books too!) so its become second nature to chop and change and move things around.

What are your writing weaknesses? actually writing. just kidding. probably that when i get stuck on something i tend to focus only on the fact that im stuck and cannot continue until i have unstuck myself

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? depends on what is meant my this! if it's about honorifics in dialogue (eg, hyung, -chan, dajie etc) i support it, since a lot don't translate well to english. Same with terms of endearment like -ito and -ie. if it's whole dialogue, it really depends. am i supposed to be able to understand the dialogue? is it something that could've been written just as well with 'he says, in [language]', does the author understand what they're writing, is it a text based or verbal conversation? does the pov character understand what's being said? (personally the best way to have dialogue in other languages is if the pov character isn't supposed to understand it. but always be aware that a native speaker of that language may still read the fic)

OK so like i was talking w my friends about this but like. i used sonic 2 as an example. there are a lot of deleted scenes in sonic 2 where adding them to the movie does not change the canon of the movie. ie there's a character (wade) who gets his car stolen and we hard-cut to him in his garage with a bike. it's always going to be implied that wade is using his bike for the weekend, but there's a deleted scene that actually tells us he is fixing his broken bike, he lives with his mom, and likes ants on a log. so accepting that deleted scene as canon doesnt actually change the game. its dubiously canon because its not in the final product but still exists in the same universe and doesnt contradict canon.

look at like, kingdom of the sun vs emperor's new groove though. none of the deleted songs in kingdom of the sun were able to get into emperors new groove because that would destroy the tone and lore of the movie. snuff out the light is about yzma wanting to bring about an eternal night, but it can't be added to the movie because in emperor's new groove, yzma doesn't WANT to do that

so like. two types of deleted scenes. ones that you can add to canon without meddling with them, and ones where they cant be canon or else things would be worse or itd meddle with canon

and thats why i take the full streams as having a deleted scenes esque canonicity, because there is information in them thats just like. basic gags. bubby has an ipod. tommy says they fucked up the billboards. gordon's suit j- uh- nevermind.

but then you see in stuff like the commentaries that, like, some stuff was consciously LEFT OUT because it made canon worse or make less sense. like wayne cutting out his actual response to dr coomers 'what if it was fake' question, and wayne having to cut moments where he talks directly to chat and the science team responds to the chat dialogue (ie. cutting out the context of 'gordon, i need spices')

tldr i dont automatically accept the full streams as canon specifically because there's a 'final product' that exists in the edited videos, so im more inclined to not pay attention to full streams information because a lot of them had a very good reason for not being included. but also a lot of them were cut for scene so id be willing to slot them into my belief system

Tbh bakudeku's writing already had so many problems in the later chapters of the manga. The problem isn't just about 431. In the later chapters of the story it looked like the relationship became way too one-sided (on Bakugo's side) while Izuku did not acknowledge anything Bakugo related, and also Bakugo's character was way too sidelined. I've expected Horikoshi to give them an actual discussion moment but he never did. Deku never even acknowledged important stuff like Bakugo's apology or his death in the aftermath. Meanwhile Horikoshi made sure that Deku did go after Uraraka to thank her for her speech and they had many heart to heart moments. It comes off as invalidating Bakugo and Deku's dynamic already. I also found it bad that how Horikoshi made Deku call Ochako his hero and that 429 was heavily Izuocha focused, meanwhile he never made Deku chase after Bakugo and he never gave an emotional response or thank to him. In 431 him rejecting Bakugo is just an addition to all the one-sidedness in their dynamic. I think Horikoshi either got bored of their relationship or decided to focus on characters like Uraraka more in the later chapters. I've also noticed that Horikoshi re-drew a lot of Uraraka focused chapters in the 42 volume. It looks like Horikoshi started to like Uraraka's character better and thats why the narrative shifted in favor of her.

I think the main problem is we lose his perspective and so many of his actual emotional connections -when you think about it, in the last chapters is like many ppl personally care about him, but he doesnt show how much others matter to him outside of saving them bc of this lack of internal monologue.

Deku and ochako didnt have a heart to heart bc for that, deku also had to break down and he just... never ended up doing it. She cried and needed help, and he helped her with his optimism "yes you are a great hero, you always helped me, and bc of that you are my hero and I need to save my heroes!! you dont have to be sad bc I know we will continue to help everyone!", it was never about him also breaking and being truly vulnerable, even if he cried.

I also believe bc he used his ending idea of heroes rising, he couldn't have katsuki and deku work too close or he would just end up copying the ending. I dont think he is bored of them -I mean, look at 429 and 431, they took the basics of that chapter but made it even more boring and repeated it. I can see him having a huge problem with having her take more space than before in relation to izuku like many wanted, but still, those moments weren't about them together, but about heroes and himiko. And Theo ny moment about them is an extra, about talking again after kinda losing contact.

we might never know wtf happened, and if thats your opinion thats alright!! I think we dont have to look too much into it, you know? like, many panels of ochako were kinda weird and now are more natural, and I think he likes to draw her -I do too! And its clear he really likes to draw her mostly with himiko. He likes to draw girls in general...

I dont think he hates them or got bored of them, more like he just had to focus on characters he never payed that much attention to.

We have been following BNHA for a long time, its clear Katsuki is his closest person, and its clear they do trust each other in ways they almost dont even get, we dont need to get reminders of it constantly -specially bc they take into account that there are many katsuki antis reading the manga, and dont want them to get upset over too much katsuki.

I believe him falling onto katsuki was him responding to his apology directly -and while I would have loved to see them discuss his death, I dont see deku ever talking about it. Like, for me, he prefers to believe he just was badly hurt but nobody was lost in the battle -and katsuki wouldnt bring that up honestly, he didnt do it to make him give him something. So I dont really know how that would fit the manga when they still had so many characters to work with.

I dont completely disagree tho, I can see how they try to focus more on them but... it never feels like they are trying to make it actually romantic? Yeah, 431 focuses on them, but they hold hands like Tetsu Tetsu and Kirishima do -two characters whose joke is how similar they are, mind you-, and seemed to be more about choosing to show the ppl you care for that you want them in your life -after not talking to them in a long time. Yeah you could read it as romantic, but just as easily as you could not.
