yes!! just for you my dearest mutual axolotlworld… sorry I took forever to respond I really had to think about what to say!

our game is (tentatively) called COLLEGEBOUND.. or SCHOOLBOUND… or CLASSBOUND.. we are indecisive. it revolves around concepts of change, willpower, and the drive to keep going. it is tangentially related to the COVID-19 pandemic though a physical sickness is not present anywhere in the game… quite the opposite

you play as atlas, a tired sophomore who’s ready to just leave school altogether. what’s crazy though is that you can’t leave. nobody can. you’ve all been on campus and its extended neighborhood for a year straight without any contact with the outside world. your college is floating in the sky, cut off from the outside world. it’s time to fix that.

it is based VERY heavily in paper mario style combat, and is heavily inspired by games like undertale and persona 5, i would go so far as to say i hope this is an appropriate love letter to those games!! if you enjoy making friends and avoiding class, you will love this game. we are trying a lot of new things outside these games’ scopes

ideally, we get the kickstarter launched sometime after having a workable demo in mid 2025. at the moment, the majority of the demo’s soundtrack is finished, the character designs are mostly complete, and the demo’s story is 90% done. though not programmed enough to have anything tangible, the combat system is 40% complete and the UI is about 5% done. the only reason i wouldn’t be like HERES THE DEMO SCRAPS is just because i hate reading devlogs where nothing happens 😭😭

there is a secret i cannot say, but it is the reason development isn’t as quick even though it’s a two person project. just know it’s a popular mechanic for indie games to do this lately and i’m wanting to take it to a logical extreme in the most intense way possible!!!!!! which is really challenging in Unreal Engine but it is possible!

the environments and such are extremely easy and not a concern because tbh most of that is free assets we have permission to edit mixed with my hand drawn or modeled things. unironically i’m really digging the amazing world of gumball style it gives the game. i’m a huge huge perfectionist and even refuse to answer texts unless i have a perfect response so i’m polishing things as i go and am really enjoying making it!

also, we’re going to apply for multiple scholarships dedicated to things like this— with what we have so far visually we actually have a shot maybe????!!!!! i dont have any good videos on hand but the paper style is PERFECT for my art and it’s really endearing to look at and play as

1) most of us draw! we know its different with most systems but since our host grew up loving art its kinda a system wide knowledge/hobbie something we just know we gotta do like reading or writing lol does that make sense? (tho some dont enjoy it like others ect ect)

2) it really depends on who our most frequent front of the month is /hj but most the time we wanna say its a collaborative effort! it really just depends on who drew what and if they liked it enough (or was comfortable enough) to share

My first reaction was "Ummmm you vibe check it then read. If you dont like it, stop and try a different one." But I realized y'all might not know how archive level lookup functions work.

Ao3 has a fucking incredible, beefy and effective advanced filtering system. I'm not just clicking on a fandom and scrolling hoping to find something.

My process is malleable and adaptable based on mood but in general looks like this.

Fandom -> ship (if im more flexible I'll pick a character instead)

Now its Filter time! Most often I filter by Tags/Tropes and Rating. If what I'm looking for is a bit more abstract I will pop it into the "Search Within Results" feature.

Next its Exclusion time! You can get results based on what you're looking for. But! You can also exclude things too. You can remove anything you can include. Tags, Ships, Rating, Triggers and much more.

You also have the option to filter and sort by metadata, but its not effective for me at all. I will occasionally give myself a wordcount cap cuz i can and will accidentally keep "one more chapter"ing myself to 5am. But otherwise I do not even look at kudos or hit count.

In addition to a robust filter Ao3 has education materials available for even more advanced commands you can use. I haven't played around with them too much yet (cuz im a multishipper lol) but the one I remember is "otp:true". Its intended to exclude stories with other ships in the main pairing. You can also add "and/or" conditions to tags ("and" is used to ensure all results have both(or more) tags.

If you're not familiar with lookup functions and advanced filters, i would highly recommend just playing around with it. If you get stuck read the tutorials available on Ao3 by Ao3. (FAQs)

Hot tip: the easy select tags, ships etc. are dynamic. If you're seeing a tag that doesnt make sense, hit sort and filter after selecting broader specifications. For example I usually select rating and ship first, sort and filter, then I'll cruise the tags and other specifics cuz now the most common options are more relevant. Ie. if you want to exclude horny stuff, exclude explicit rating first. Those tags detailing sex acts will vanish.

It will take practice, but you are in charge of your own experience. Ao3 is an archive. Its in the name. There is no algorithm to babysit you and mind your squicks and triggers for you. Yes its more legwork but i promise its worth it.

And if in the end, you find a fic that looks great but you start reading it and its not what you wanted, you can just leave. Hit the back button. Find another. Theres no need to keep reading and no need to harass the author.

when has anyone EVER said that homophobia is izzy’s only motivation. i’m on team “gay homophobe izzy” and i do not think this is his only motivation. i don’t even think it’s his primary motivation. it is another layer of complexity on a fascinating character. he is gay and in unrequited love with ed. he craves power and leadership but he is not good at managing those things when he gets them. he thinks men should behave a certain way and is aggressive and cruel to the men who don’t meet his standards. men having sex with each other is fine, but men falling in love with men falls outside of his rigid idea of how men should behave. he lacks the emotional maturity to be able to identify his feelings towards ed. he is so repressed he only accepts intimacy in the form of physical violence. he blames stede for ed changing. he hates stede because ed is changing. to izzy, the worst part about stede changing ed is the fact that stede is such a pathetic excuse of a man it shatters izzy’s image of ed to think that ed could find anything about stede appealing. he’s dedicated his life to the version of ed that he’s made up in his head. he is possessive of being the only one to call him ed, to be the only one who gets to call the legendary blackbeard by his name. but izzy has never been able to see ed without blackbeard. to him, knowing ed is a privilege only because ed is who’s behind the legendary blackbeard’s curtain.

i think izzy is fascinating. he's a fantastic character. he is incredibly well written. he plays a crucial role in the narrative. this show would not be the same without him.

im telling you now, having spent my time in this fandom primarily interacting with people who also read izzy as homophobic, anyone who is using this interpretation to reduce izzy's complexity is by far in the minority with that take.

1.) so me knowing about the others is a complicated predicament because there's alot of knowledge that's been withheld from me in the last few months so it's kinda a "they know about me, i dont know about them" thing

3.) speaking of dread and jett >:3

so dread was one of the first people who formed (or introjected....he was an oc 💔) and he's like the primary protector of the system. hes a dad too he has a kid and hes good with kids which is probably why hes perfectly fine with putting up with me as much as he does 😭😭

jett is my "older" brother (we are both ageless and practically the same age physically) and he's someone who holds alot of the system's collective anger towards our mother and any other traumas we've had. hes fun to be around though hes very out of pocket

i think asgorn (ey/em for reference) is somebody else who's posted on this blog a few times. ey're somebody i dont talk to much 1on1 but i like em. ey're really blunt and monotonous and ey do alot of like...house cleaning after major mental crises lol

4.) so my name has changed like 4 times in the last two years and i got this name from a baby names website. im not even joking 😭

i wanted to change it to distance myself from my last relationship (because i went by ajax/jax when i was with my ex) but i still wanted my name is start with a j because ive found that j names fit me very well

also it's pronounced ja-el and not jail for future reference ive had alot of people make jail jokes 😭😭

5.) something i find difficult about this whole dissociative disorder thing is all of the memory loss i have to deal with. and i mean like actually pointless memory loss cuz what do you mean i can remember about life changing trauma on a random tuesday afternoon but i cant remember something my mom asked me to do like 5 minutes ago 😭

something else i dont like is the trauma olympics in the community. yep thats it im leaving it like that

something i am happy for though is my headmates that i am close to. cuz i dont think i/the body would've made it to 18 if i didnt have the others to help me. like if you told 15 year old me that i'd turn 18 and graduate high school she would've laughed right in your face

6.) we dont have obvious tells 😭 i think the only thing that tells me we're about to switch is the type of dissociation that happens

because if im just like. zoned out and frozen then im just zoned out and frozen. im usually pretty aware of whats going on around me but i physically cant interact with the world around me if that makes any sense

but if someone is entering front or trying to switch with me then it becomes more of a dream-like state and it feels like someone's pulling my soul back into my head

i actually dont have anything left to say about the system members specifically but our innerworld is kinda funny

the majority of us live on these sky islands nested within the clouds and said islands are connected by chains (and portals...because we never actually made walkable bridges and some of the islands are too far to walk to) but theres like 6 of us who live in the dark realm under the islands because they just formed down there and never figured out how to get up here

at least i think thats how that happened. ive never talked to any of them </3
