this is such a stupid anecdote but i thought you might appreciate it: my first job was at a christian summer camp and during the week before camp officially started, the whole staff made a big walmart trip in the nearest town to get supplies. and im chilling in the snack aisle with my friends and suddenly the camp director, who was a minister, walks by determinedly pushing a shopping cart FULL of grape juice (which was a comical image in and of itself) and muttering under his breath "now where the hell do they have wafers" and that was so hysterically funny it took a couple minutes for us to catch our breath and pick ourselves up off the floor. buying communion in walmart. likely thing for a pastor to be doing i suppose

I’m watching Seinfeld and WOW the cynicism is just overwhelming! What sad sacks these characters are, complaining about other people who enjoy their lives and celebrate their accomplishments. Like you can only be one way, these people’s way, or there is no value to anything you do. How dare you be happy with yourself and the life you’ve made, if you’re not meeting some imaginary standard.

Sheesh.

It might be that that was the point, that we should be laughing at these characters rather than with them, but wow. I don’t know if I have it in me to mock other people this much.

Teenage me loved this show. Middle-aged me just finds the whole concept tiresome.
