More AvA/AvM thoughts and a longer rambling under the cut to get my thoughts out

Admittedly this is all going to come out of the blue but that is my fault for saying nothing about a year old hyperfixation till now. Anywho!

The color gang coming from the online world where all the other sticks live has been in my head since we saw the outside world. Yes they’re way more vibrant then most there but purple and their parents are also a very vibrant trio. So I have my thoughts on the four. Obviously don’t have any parents around (wasn’t my fault for once shocker /lh) and are most definitely not related really. So it gives me the thought of the 4 always being friends since they were small and fighting/playing is just what they usually did with no parents figures other then a care taker.

But then how’d they get on the stick fight site? Well considering it was not until AvA 4 when we saw them they most definitely saw other famous stick fights that wanted to make them be part of it. Hell in AvYT we see at the end they all just wanted to watch epic stick fights. So yeah thought I’d they basically ganged together to make their own site to show off their epic fights together while also living in said site together. Worked well.

Then a certain someone broke down the wall one day and they were like damn this is kinda neat. Kept the site of course it is their literal home but after more and more or AvM they considered the PC, TSC and Alan more as their home and so started staying there more. The little Minecraft houses, finding interests outside of just fighting, and living out their fantasies with the power of minecraft.

They’re still all identical looking for a long time though. I think the accessories I draw them with were drawn by TSC as gifts but not until after AvM 30. They’ve learned so much more at that point about themselves I could imagine being identical as each other and just being “them sticks that fight” still gets a bit old. Course’ they can take off the accessories when they feel so but kept them in the back pocket. TSC hasn’t felt any feeling to change their looks so he hasn’t.

Well then anywho it’s very late and though I have more AvA thoughts I need to contain them for when it’s not 3 in the morning ! So instead some smaller stuff Iv noticed while obsessively observing episodes and shorts (mostly Blue because I heart blue)

Blue unlike the rest of the color gang is very… plain. And I don’t mean this in a negative sense. It’s more a lesser degree of creativity from him on most accounts. He’s not very creative in his solutions most the time and has very straightforward solutions to issues that in his mind are straightforward. Break an axe? Make a new one. Gotta go fast? Drugs Potions that make you faster. Yeah there’s cooking but he never really does anything creative with it outside of adding nether warts like the lil freak /pos he is. Follows a written recipe and taught lesson.

It’s a quiet aspect of him I only really noticed a few days ago. Not that this is a negative aspect again but something that makes him stand out more!

Now then uhh smaller random stuff I just always like. Lush Caves ep, Red realizing oh god he can’t win this fight Vs TSC and started running from them instead. Always makes me boowomp a little thinking about it since Red is kinda the younger usual happy go lucky prankster. TSC I know you’re also young and stressed but continuing to get his ass was NOT the way man,,

Last thought, King just trying to avenge his son only to come out of the situation with like 6 new adoptive kids is very funny to me. They say vengeance is a life well lived so I guess he got vengeance 6 times over. Ok gn (ecplodes)

New Merlin lore!!!

First off, I’m retconning his schizophrenia for several reasons:

I somehow keep forgetting about it. (It doesn’t really seem like a permanent trait, I guess? Not sure how to explain it, but it doesn’t cement itself in my head like Charlie’s autism.)

I haven’t really written anything about him with it yet? Besides hearing voices, and I was never sure how accurate that is, because I didn’t want to just do it for whump/angst/plot purposes.

I also don’t want to mix up magical and mundane too much, and incorporating real magic occurrences vs. hallucinations might be harder than I thought.

I was on the fence about it for a few days, and I felt bad about doing it because my brain said I’m a coward; retconning mental illness is bad; things like that. I also felt like people would mock me and/or get mad at me, so I didn’t tell anyone at first.

I kind of thought it might be better if I gave him a different disability, but I wasn’t sure what to do at first.

But then I remembered a thought I’ve had before, even back when I was writing Emerald Embers! It was kind of a crack idea, so it stayed in my head and I never yapped about it. 😌

This was way before @aroace-edward-elric’s hyperfixation on Fullmetal Alchemist (2003), and seeing an oc with a prosthetic arm and leg.

I think @fate-is-a-lie showing me her new Earthspark oc (who has a prosthetic arm) a few days ago made me remember it! It also could have been FMA 03 worming its way into my subconscious again. Both of you, how dare you /silly.

Merlin now has a prosthetic right leg!! (I originally imagined it as his left, but I chose that one to differentiate from Ed and the oc lol. @aroace-edward-elric pointed out that Hiccup also lost his left leg.)

His amputation is above the knee, and nearly a full limb loss like these photos.

He also still has anxiety, C-PTSD, and misophonia.

I already have some funny scenarios I’ve thought about: him, of course, going to sleep without the leg so he gets a break. He forgets to put it on when he wakes up sometimes… resulting in him falling on the floor if he can’t regain his balance fast enough. Charlie gets worried even though he reassures his baby that he’s fine.

Also him somehow breaking it, and nonchalantly being like: “Oh, I broke my leg. Again.”

Everyone freaks out until he says: “The prosthetic one...”

And if I ever write the Merlin crossover thing, somehow people end up talking about how most Merlins are rather skinny? TKN Merlin, who either starts leaning against a wall or conjures his crutches (which he uses to give his leg a break besides sleeping), answers: “I’d still win the thigh gap competition, I fear.”

He’ll have other comedic moments like these, but it’s equivalent to “he’s disabled, and it’s funny sometimes” instead of “being disabled = funny”.

It’s so easy to give him a prosthetic without needing new art beside a leg design, actually! Even with how much his design has changed, you wouldn’t know since his legs are always covered. Besides that, I can say he wears wide fitting pants to hide the leg since his outfit as a whole is flowy and loose lol.

Since he has bigger thighs from being fat, it wouldn’t match like the above shown second image.

I’m also getting a prosthetic for him designed already!! The first two are some of the references I sent Specter7art (on Reddit), and the third is a suggestion he had for Merlin’s foot! It’s going to be made of iron and mostly gray. :D I’ll post it here, with a link to this post, when it’s done!

The Beat BOTB Music Spotlight : Take Cover by Tornado Warning! Despite their humble origins and "hometown heroes" aesthetic, its safe to say that Tornado Warning! have taken BOTB by storm, though whether this is to their advantage or detriment is an ongoing debate amongst fans of the show. Though cheating rumours, celebrity candids, and relationship dramas have followed the band from day one, its difficult to deny that the group are incredibly talented performers. We all know this band have been playing together since they were teenagers in Devyn Powell's garage, but seeing them perform on stage truly hammers that home. Their familiarity and musical chemistry with each other are some of the band's biggest advantages, and their energetic presence on stage is a huge draw for fans, both in the crowd and those watching at home; no doubt all of these were contributing factors to their remarkable first week win.

For our spotlight this week, we're going approximately 10 years back in time to Tornado Warning's very first EP; Take Cover. Released when members of the band [pictured left to right, Iris De Luca, Devyn Powell, Jazzy Dawson, Rowan Hart, Seven Lawless & Beck Marlowe] were only 16, Take Cover is a record coveted by self-proclaimed "OG" Tornado Warning! fans, while many newer fans may have never heard it. All 6 tracks, including the titular "Take Cover" and fan-dubbed 'yearning anthem' "Marlboro", were written collaboratively by then co-lead singers Beck Marlowe and Seven Lawless. The EP shows the beginnings of two talented writers experimenting with their music and lyrics, and finding their feet creatively, which gives it a distinct sound and feeling from their later releases, irrespective of changes caused by Lawless' later departure from the band.

Take Cover, put simply, is a loveable mess of a record. Largely recorded in friends' basements and put together with a rudimentary understanding of GarageBand, Take Cover is an EP held together by duct tape, natural talent and youthful ambition. While the music isn't groundbreaking and the EP itself isn't poished by any meaning of the word, it takes the feeling of climbing out of your window at 3am and skating around your hometown with your dumb friends, and bottles it - and for that we can see why so many longtime fans hold this record close.

Going into next week's challenge we will see Seven Lawless, in an ironic turn of events, writing for Tornado Warning! once more. Will we see hints of a long gone era in this songwriting reunion? Or will Seven steer the band in a totally different direction, proving those days and that sound are truly in the past? This game has taken over too much brain space since the sneak peak dropped, so to channel the hyperfixation into something somewhat productive before ch4 comes out, I decided to draw the band's very first album cover. The photo was actually Seven's idea, and at 16 they all thought it was very cool and artsy and original - I hc that it was taken in a field behind the diner and Lucy would just look out the window every now and then to laugh fondly as they ran away from the camera over and over again to get the perfect shot. Nothing is worse than being caught in a specific brainrot phase for a series that's over and doesn't have any new content, and I've already rewatched and reread everything.

Like before my MHA phase, for MONTHS I was trapped in my OHSHC phase and ended up rewatching and reading the manga and anime several times before I got out of it. And now it seems I'll have to do that with MHA until I can get it out of my system. I already rewatched the movies, the anime, and just finished the manga again and already I'm like, well fuck, guess I need to start again 'cause there's nothing else I can do.

I wish I could control my hyperfixation of the month(s) because I would very much like to get into rereading One Piece like I've been saying for years and still haven't done because I haven't really felt like it. If I get on a crazy hyperfixation on One Piece like I have for Naruto, OHSHC, and currently MHA, boy, I would not have this fucking issue. The series is still on going AND I still love it, so it would truly be the ultimate win for me versus how I feel right now of pure self-loathing for getting back into a series I don't actually like just because I really love one character and a handfull of others...but it's just not worth it!!!!!!!!

I think it's because I still read and consume OP pretty regularly, it's hard to want to circle back all the way to the beginning, and then relive some of the most painful arcs, including Ace dying, and I just kinda don't wanna reopen those wounds. I know it would help me remember things that lead into current events, though, like I do logically find the idea beneficial, I just can't force my brain to want to, so I'm just waiting.

Okay it’s still semi early so I’m gonna try and get my same day thoughts about the finale down. Mostly rambles/ranting and also warning for neg about Derap, Mapic, sunkissed, devotions, Zam, the entire life steal series (don’t ask)

I’m disappointed, once the adrenaline of a happy ending slash hopeful ending wore off I realized I had gotten nothing I wanted. Besides Zam to stick to her path and win. Which … maybe technically, she ended the season happily so that’s a win but it was really my only one. I like devotions but especially this season it felt more deserved for them to breakup and fight. Zam had an arc about standing up for herself and defending herself against Mapic that went nowhere cause they had to make up. I made a few jokes about the whole messy breakup thing but, I seriously view Mapic as a crazy toxic bf who doesn’t respect Zam or treat him well. I know they love eachother I love they’re soulmates I don’t care Zam can do better, and I was disappointed when they just made up with neither really apologizing in a way that felt satisfying. Them fighting together isn’t enough I need Mapic to grovel at Zam’s feet and promise to treat her better.

Speaking of bad boyfriends. The sunkiss ending. Man did it suck. They didn’t even kill eachother. I cannot even talk about it because of how actually upset I get thinking about how much it sucked. I like sunkiss obviously and, fuck okay literally makes me upset thinking about it ahah. Ironically the perfect ending for them and symbolized their entire relationship perfectly because they were always a doomed mess and not in a cute toxic devotions way but in a makes people uncomfortable kind of way. And I have thoughts I’ll write nicer and post in a few days but fuckkkkkkkkk. Damnit. I love them and after they broke up I debated even watching the finale. Do I regret it I guess not. I’m also annoyed at a cringeduo team up next season but that’s a me issue because I really wanted Derap to team with someone new and cringeduo had a weird alliance thing all season already we do not need to run it back.

Derap. Fuck we’re to start. Yes he sucks that’s the point. He’s a manipulative judgemental dick who is weird and sexist irl. Unfortunately I hyperfixated on his character and now I’m in the fucking torment nexus. I hate him. He ruined the finale for me which isn’t fair to say, but wanna hear my opinions on the last four days ? Wanna hear my plan for future interpretations to keep myself happy ? Either ignore the past four streams where Derap betrays cause it’s stupid and happened four days before the finale oh my god it was such a stupid plan holy fuckkkkkkkkk. I was praying for awhile there, that he had some sort of greater secret plan because of how comically this one blew up in his face. Man I- don’t even know. I’m still gonna have a tab with his stream open on s7 day one I’m sorry I hyperfixated on the worst possible guy in a series this is a thing I do routinely it’s a problem.

I was also going to complain about the ending being anticlimactic but I haven’t been around for enough so I’m hoping that’s par for the course and this season didn’t just suck. It’s was fine it was hopeful, I have a not so secret fear that the series has already run its course and subz was right— but honestly, I’m happy with the ending, it was fine.

I think shock might be a better description for things, I don’t really believe it’s over. I’ve invested nine months in this thing you don’t understand. I don’t know how people have been here years that’s wild. Nine months almost everyday watching. Tried to explain that to my sister and she said that sounded crazy. And now it’s over. We’ll get references and such but never get it all back. It makes a decent ending seem terrible, because I invested so much time into this. Months of vodwatching and siting staring a screen, panicking and almost crying multiple times. And I don’t regret it, I’m gonna do it all again whenever the next season starts, this is how I get about things I enjoy. I think I might have a special interest in Minecraft smps. But yeah. I’m sorry I think. I haven’t feltike this since dsm p and everything worked out soooo well then. Slash genuine story wise that thing is a marvel. Lifesteals a little rougher but just as much of a marvel and I really like it.

Anyways tldr, I’m keeping Zam chu on my waterbottle and am going to try and find someone to commission to make me sunkiss plushies, and I’m really really hopeful for next season and I’m excited and happy and tired. And I’m gonna vodwatch in the meantime and make at least one more webweave about hope and post my seacarnations duo one and as soon as I get back to my laptop yall are gonna get so many drawings and doodles.
