Not some peoples on here and TikTok going:
āYou donāt like the ending because your favorite character diedā
Hell yeah? Literally why wouldnāt I be pissed that my favorite character who could be saved died? Dabi has one of the most realistic backstories and best characterizations in Mha, actually not only in Mha but Anime/Manga in general and do you know how taboo of topics domestic violence, child abuse and raping are in Japan? Mind you, Japan is a country that has domestic violence normalized in their country as part of marriage and somehow education too. Yāall might think Iām joking but victims of domestic abuse in Japan are struggling very much to this day, but Japanese peoples rarely talks about it because Japan is a āFamily Imageā oriented society (Endeavor and the Himuras showed it enough me thinks) so they categorically refuse to let people know abuse happens, especially the abusers.
āOh BuT aLL aBuSeRs DoNāt WaNt It To Be KnOwNā, I know but in Japan itās normalized to just live through it and that (together with bullying) itās one of the reasons the suicide rate in Japan is one of the highest globally, hope it helps to get a better grasp on everything Iām trying to say.
Horikoshi has depicted it perfectly, because you know⦠He lives there and even the final outcome (Rei becoming Enjiās caretaker after years of abuse) itās very much Japanese style. Which is why the Todoroki family ending itās wrong and disturbing. Wrong, and disturbing.
And as if one of Enjiās victims becoming his caretaker isnāt enough, one of his other victims had to die because of his actions.
āNo BuT tOuYa WeNt OfF wItH hIs QuIrK oN hIs OwNā, and who was the main reason and cause he went off like that with his Quirk? Endeavor.
Yep. Thought so too.
I donāt get why some of you are bending backwards, doing backflips and cartwheels to defend Endeavor just because heās an Hero likeā Iām sorry but he is the depiction of a realistically fact that even if your job (YOUR JOB!) is to save other people, behind closed doors that same person who saves other people can still be a shitty person whoās a curse to his own family, because Endeavor is just Enji Todorokiās faƧade.
And heās a well-written character because the depiction of abuser Horikoshi did of him itās accurate to reality. Enji is egotistical, narcissistic, greedy, self-centered and selfish, which are all the characteristics that made him physically unable to actually address any of what he did until Dabiās reveal, despite knowing that he was dead wrong and that together with the fact that he waited almost a decade to apologize to his family, is the reason why I genuinely donāt give a flying fuck about his āredemptionā. If sorrow was eating you alive why didnāt you apologize sooner, trash?
Touya never got the closure he deserved, actually none of the Leagues got it and you know why? Because the whole War arc was rushed, you can tell by the way Shigaraki was offed. From a writing standpoint it was laughable, seriously.
Whatās even worse is that⦠Nothing has actually changed in the Hero society despite the fact that nine years have passed, because people like Touya, Shigaraki and Toga will never be actually saved because Heroes have failed miserably to save the prime examples of whatās to be saved.
And no, they werenāt saved because death isnāt salvation for people who want to live, be accepted and loved. You guys that think this way genuinely scare me and I want yāall far away from me.
Likeā To sum what Iām trying to say: We canāt cry and hate Mhaās ending because of all this, but some of yāall can cry, kick sheets, throw up, crashout and hate the ending over fucking ships?
Wowā¦
#ā ā„ kelrambles;#boku no hero academia#my hero academia#bnha#mha#dabi#touya todoroki#shigaraki tomura#tenko shimura#toga himiko#todofam#anti endeavor#likeā iāve been getting in my tiktok fyp this bkdk shipper whoās twenty-two (22) crashing out because izoc became canon#and that had me unlocking a new facial expression that i didnāt knew i had#but suddenly i am weird and crazy for hating the ending because my favorite character died???#š¦š¦š¦š¦#you know whoās actually weird??? ITāS YāAā#canāt believe i had to explain why an abuser surviving and being unpunished while one of his victims died pisses me off#crazy work guys⦠crazy workā¦#no because listen⦠horikoshi took into his hands VERY SERIOUS matters that in japan need to be talked about more#but in the end he still didnāt have enough balls to end these matters the rightful way because of japanās conservative ass#idk guys⦠i thought horikoshi would handle the many IMPORTANT topics he put in this serie way better than thisā¦#guess my expectations were a tad bit too high

hey in ur peri animatic: (https://youtu.be/OCqlRuDaXYU?si=K52WDu_vw9rg7chz) that I have been permanently obsessed over since today and have watched about 20 times by now so much that I have drawn & posted stuff based on it what was that partial bug form peri had?

I havenāt watched either of the show btw so if itās explained in the show please tell me plsssss
OK, SO the bug thing is not technically canon to the series. It's based on my own headcanons for fairy biology, but i do have justifications for it!! Fairies have very strong shape-shifting abilities, so it would make sense that the form they show to humans isn't necessarily their true form(not to mention extreme that mimicry is very common in insects). And you want to know the visible traits almost every fairy has in common? Being very small with Insect-like wings.
The fact that their humanoid form isn't their true form in actually confirmed in the show! Cosmo and Wanda are revealed to look like biblically accurate pseudo-angels in the museum episode. (I say pseudo angels because the Flaming Sword of Eden is only debatably sentient and I don't think is considered an angel. Ophanim are also debatably not angels because they don't have wings (sorry for the angel tangent I like angels))

So wouldn't their true forms be angelic then? Well, yes. But I like bugs so. Also I have more headcanons to justify myself. I like to think that they have both a true-true form (incomprehensible to the human brain, probably exists mostly in a dimension invisible to us, that looks how we imagine biblically accurate angels), and a fairy form (which is visible to humans but is naturally very insect like and tends to scare people). So, in order to interact with humans, they have to learn to shapeshift into a humanoid form but will occasionally slip if they get too relaxed/aren't careful, hence the mandibles coming out when he yawns!
The reason they struggle so much more with human forms than the animals or objects they typically turn into is that, well, they aren't trying to convince those animals or objects. The more human they try to look, the harder it is to keep up convincingly. If you turn into a really uncanny squirrel, only other squirrels will notice. If you turn into a really uncanny human, they form a lynch mob and burn you at the stake.
#fop#fairly oddparents#fairly oddparents a new wish#fop a new wish#headcanons#ok I think I said everything I wanted to#my brain has so many useless thoughts bouncing around in there#their bright colors would also imply that they are poisonous to eat#my personal theory is that Jorgen is half human idk how else to explain whatever he is. tall. no wings. that or he's something else entirel#maybe he's a higher rank of angel#fairies are definitely a type of angel in this world#but they don't seem to line up with any specific rank as far as I can tell#they behave most like I'd expect a Guardian angel to which could make Jorgen an Archangel or Principality#but Ophanims are in the first sphere of heaven which. uh I don't think it's right#to be clear I'm not even religious im just way too into angels#Uhhhh anyway I guess the moral of the story is that I did that just because I wanted to an because nobody could stop me#Actually Im just thinking about this now#I mostly drew baby poof without bug features to keep his design uncluttered visually#but fairies having naturally very human looking larva would explain how changelings happen#something something evolution. mutualism. those parasite birds. idk#ok im out of thoughts now seriously this time youre free now#speculative biology

(Another) Ghost in the Machine
DP x Hellblazer (the original John Constantine comic)
Ritchie Simpson continued to search frantically for the connection out of the computer and back to his body as he begged John to explain what he meant by saying āGoodbye.ā
Had John disconnected him? He knew Johnās sense of humor wasnāt the lightest, especially after Newcastle drove them all a bit insane, but that felt too far even for him. Nah, heād probably just gotten himself a bit lost in the wave of energy heād experienced in the Tongues of Fire network and was accidentally looking for his body in the wrong spot.
He pulled himself back and let his mental connection to the digital world expand outward, probing the rest of the machine for the connection. He knew he was in the right system, so as long as he looked thoroughly heād definitely fiā
Everything flashed a surge of blinding white and then was replaced by pure darkness. He thought he screamed, but he couldnāt hear his own voice. Couldnāt even feel his own thoughts. Trapped in one single instant that stretched for indeterminable eons. Then, eventually (or was it immediately?), awareness began to trickle back.
He was still in the computer, though it felt⦠different, somehow. His thoughts still werenāt entirely in order. The first possible hints towards his location he found were the sound voices trickling through from the outside world. Voices he didnāt recognize. Young voices.
āIām happy to help, Tuck, but Iām not really sure what you expect me to do here. Youāre way better than me at this computer stuff than me.ā
āBy all means, feel free to keep complimenting me, but this has been frying my brain, man. I got this thing secondhand, and the system should be quite powerful, but thereās something using up a ton of its processing and I canāt figure out what. I was hoping you could do your āenter into the computerā thing and see if you see anything.ā
#okay so for people who donāt know whatās going on with the DC side:#in John Constantine: Hellblazer thereās this old friend of Constantine called Richie who uses āquantum magicā to inteface with computers#and Constantine asks him to find the base of the Resurrection Crusaders (a religious group thatās an antagonist of that part of the comic)#which he does do. but while looking into the Tongues of Fire subgroup he encounters a thing of energy that burns his body to a crisp#but his mind is still in the computer unaware of that#and constantine doesnāt know how to explain that to him so he just⦠doesnāt.#and unplugs the machine as like a mercy kill ish thing#in the comic he sorta survived in the network for a time longer#but instead this idea was more like he was trapped in the memory banks of the computer#which eventually made its way into Tuckerās hands and led to him and Team Phantom meeting#heād probably count as a ghost but the situation would certainly be unusual for both sides#dp x dc#dpxdc#dc x dp#dcxdp#danny phantom x dc#danny phantom x dc crossover#dp x hellblazer#dpxdc john constantine#dp x dc prompt#dpxdc prompt#dc x dp prompt#dcxdp prompt#oh also. just gonna kinda sidestep how he helped Constantine out later in the original. I guess John worked something else out this time.#or maybe that event could be delayed so Ritchie can still show up (perhaps with Team Phantomās aid too thoughā¦)

So, uh, to recap on the ladies of Andor, the pinnacle of progressive writing according to internet consensus:
Bix: After her character consisting only of "good at mechanics", formerly crafty (in the first Ferrix arc) and "traumatised", Bix gains a new character trait this arc - helpless rage and āØāØāØdrug addictionāØāØāØ! Goodie. I'm so mad at this arc for her. We never see this woman happy independent of her trauma. We see her make happy for men - the shopkeep, Cassian occasionally, Brasso and co. in the first arc - but the only time we get an unobserved smile is when she gets her big Girlboss Yay Feminism revenge. And the featurette has everyone going "oh this is her moment", "this scene is about her" - IT'S NOT!! It's about Gorst! It's more trauma porn! Her happiness and functionality once again are dependent on men! She couldn't save herself from her trauma - she needed Cassian to help her get the drop on Gorst (and let's ignore how fucking improbable all that is for a moment, how does he even know where Gorst is???), and her happiness is fully dependent on Gorst living or dying. Her character does not EXIST without him this season. Why do we only ever see her take charge of her life to kill her abusers? The only other positive thing she's done for her life this whole season is to clean up the apartment, and she was doing that to *checks notes* hide her drug habit from her overprotective boyfriend. Feminism!! Please don't read this as an indictment of people struggling to cope with trauma, or substance abuse - I'm just so tired of everyone acting like this is such an uplifting, empowering narrative for this character, because I really, really, really don't see it.
Bringing up Maarva and Kerri as people Cassian failed to protect and nothing else is so telling. That's not even what happened! He was abducted as a child, he didn't abandon his sister, and what was he going to save Maarva from? Old age?? But that's their whole narrative purpose to the writers I guess...
Mothma: Well, I know the constant political downward trajectory is her whole thing, but we really spend the whole arc seeing her do nothing but failing to convince other politicians (mostly men) of anything and being made to look like a fool for even bothering. So far all we've given her this season is being too soft and emotional (which, by the way, is why it's a little odd to me they're pinning the same thing on Cassian - why do we need this narrative redundancy here?). And her one "big moment" (read: over thirty seconds of uninterrupted talking) she gets to have this arc is either a front for Kleya's and Luthen's business or a pointless and reckless lashing out at Krennic's overt imperialism and propaganda.
Dedra: Yeah, she's holding all the strings, but in a weird way, her whole narrative is dependent on Syril now, and I have a bad feeling this is all leading up to him being butthurt about being used. It's a great spy storyline, but just like Mothma's part, great as it is, in combo with the deeply uncool treatment of Bix, it starts to feel like an unfortunate pattern.
Cinta: I actually liked her scenes a lot! Especially the scene in the cafƩ - it had an interesting ambiguity, for a moment there I was wondering if Cinta was running Vel, getting back with her to keep her on track on someone's orders. I think I may be giving the script too much credit here, given how weirdly stilted the other two romances were handled this arc it might have rather been a case of "the writer really thinks lovers talk that way". But even if it was an accident, I think that would be an interesting feature in the show, because they're the one couple who genuinely seem to be compatible and on the same page about what they want! And I get that they were making a point to get her killed so uselessly, by friendly fire, on accident. But man, this show refuses to give a woman happiness, even for the span of a timeskip. Whenever any of the ladies seems happy or get something she wants for herself, you can already be sure she's about to die or have something incredibly heinous happen to her immediately after. And the execution of that scene pissed me off, because if that scuffle had even just been relocated to the tunnel entrance, I would have bought it. But no, they're in a really wide, mostly empty alleyway, the blaster was mostly pointed at a wall and trapped between the two men wrestling for it, and you don't even see anyone being close behind them, and yet Cinta not only manages to get hit but instantly killed - what are the fucking chances? And yes, it's a metaphor, but again, with the overall bad aftertaste, it feels targeted and cruel at this point. With how little we got to see of Cinta, it really made her death seem like an afterthought. Like Brasso, this could have packed a punch, but we knew so little about her and had seen her even less, so it just fell flat.
My only positives(ish):
Vel: Her character is really growing on me! She has such a nice, well-executed, subtle development compared to most other characters on this show. She's clearly learned from Aldhani, and she's learning from Mothma and Luthen, too, and her resentment at the life she's leading is so beautifully expressed by her last scene: The greatest punishment she can imagine is recruitment to her cause. Because that's what she's doing to this guy. Recruitment. This is on you forever, this is all your life is now, you owe me and everyone whatever you have to make up for this. That's so heartbreaking, and so real. Am I pissed that Vel is constantly and pointedly denied happiness at absolutely every turn? Yeah! But at least for her, it feels like there is a little more agency, because she chose this life, even though she clearly has options. For her, it feels a little more tragic and narratively weighty, and less like a pointless onslaught of misery.
Kleya: I love her so much. And I could (and should) point out that it feels a little shallow to have her be completely reduced to "being the only competent person among men who are losing their shit at all times". We know nothing else about her, other than that she is Girlboss(TM). But, unlike with Bix, we actually see her be outstandingly competent completely on her own merit all the time, and even though the script neglects her, too, there is an implication that she has actively and deliberately sacrificed the rest of herself to be this spymaster - instead of the writers simply forgetting to give her anything more. And I just think Elizabeth Dulau is KILLING IT. In a weird way, Kleya is giving me the power fantasy that most Star Wars gave to little boys. It's not exactly a win for feminism - it's yet another flavour of "women can either be competent and powerful OR express their emotions and be vulnerable with people" - but I do have a soft spot for her, and her moment at the exhibition was the tensest shit I've seen this whole season. Nothing more gripping so far than watching this woman attempt to turn a screw.
#andor spoilers#okay this fully turned into a rant so i guess i will tag this#andor critical#i'm enjoying most of the show a lot but MAN that bix storyline is making me so angry#and not for nothing but her and cassian's relationship is being handled terribly#and I'm not saying that because i am a rebelcaptain girlie#it would have been fine if he had a girlfriend he loved and lost!!! that would have been great he's an adult he gets to have a past!!#but it's so weird. it feels so perfunctory and sterile and EMPTY and i just don't understand how they dropped the ball this hard#also they squandered the perfect narrative resolution of the two of them that would have given BOTH of them some actual development#AND explained why Bix isn't around anymore (without fridging her! for once!!)#just have Cassian find out where Gorst is. And then make him decide to let him live and keep going because he's more useful that way#and make them break up over it!! Because Bix (understandably) can't understand how he could allow this man to continue#and get this: she could have planned her revenge. without his help. and have it actually have narrative weight!!#stop trying to reduce Cassian's self-loathing in R1 to 'guy has killed people' THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT#because it's so heinous but there's a way to make it still the right choice. but also an irreconcilable difference between them#it's so obvious and so neat!!!! why are you leaving that on the table#writing#meta#whyyyy#bix caleen#cinta kaz#mon mothma#vel sartha#kleya marki#dedra meero#tony gilroy#andor

main takeaway from certain fan reactions to the finale is this:
the final scene with ankarna was so meaningful to the bad kids' arcs and how they made peace with being wronged by people they loved, and if all you can focus on is that the rat grinders didn't get much screentime, then you don't love dimension20 and you don't love this world: you want to be playing your own hs themed dnd campaign and you're mad the oc versions of the rat grinders you made up in your head acted ooc. these are not your characters and this is not their story.
#sorry but it made me so mad after seeing that scene and the epilogues of tbks progressing on their journey to healing#that all anyone cared about was the fucking rat grinders not getting a steven universe moment to explain how trying to end the world was ok#brennan went out of his way to point out klck CHOSE rage over her friends + abused her party for her own selfish agenda and ppl are mad#that tbks didnt want to revive her. where was this outcry for penelope everpetal who was arguably more manipulated and is also in HELL#i keep harping on that point but its such an obvious comparison i feel insane that these ppl dont get it#ppl are even trying to argue against lucy's own words ab being upset her friend MURDERED her bc they flattened her to their uwu soft girl#like lucy was never a doormat. she was braver than all of them. why would she be unconditionally forgiving at her party for being evil#sorry ur toxic yuri ship sucked. klck didnt care she died. the real yuri shouldve been yolanda and zara. if u even care#actually im more annoyed we didnt some quick zara resolution but ppl are too hung up on trgs to notice#dimension 20#fantasy high junior year#fhjy#fhjy spoilers#fhjy discourse#i guess

Not saying that people with more obvious physical limitations have it any easier, but if you're going to have a disability that gets in the way of schoolwork and class attendance, you are absolutely screwed if it happens to be "totally invisible and mostly unheard of 'can't wake up and get to morning classes on time' syndrome"
#guess who got dropped a whole letter grade in his german class because of his POTS getting in the way this semester!!#i simply do not think they should be counted as unexcused absences if on the first day of class you sent an email to the instructor#containing your letter from the disability center explaining you have 'can't always make it to class' disease#and would not always be able to make it to class#and then frequently reiterated to the instructor that the reason you were missing class was because of a disability#but i know that 'sorry i just can't wake up on time' sounds like the stupidest and fakest excuse ever so here we are#(yes i am fighting this because i deserve the B+ i worked for in that class and yes i will be getting my disability coordinator involved)#(but i am sad and frustrated and scared and sent my email about it in tears and know that it's a fight i might lose)

At the beginning of Episode 6, Viktor describes the hexcore as a 'sophisticated conjuration' which is 'simultaneously self-replicating and self-annihilating'.
Let's assume that at this stage the hexcore is essentially a living entity, right? So, from a biological/evolutionary standpoint, the main way I can make sense of this quotation is that an entity might annihilate the parts of itself it finds to be weak/disadvantageous to the continuation of the species. For example, our human bodies 'annihilate' cells which do not function ideally and thus threaten the function of the rest of the body.
Applying this to the latest evolution of the hexcore (i.e. the version of the hexcore which is spreading through different individuals via Viktor) I wonder if the evolutionary disadvantage here is in fact Viktor's humanity. This is most evident in his reaction to Vander: he is aware that he is risking his own life, and everything he has built, by extending his powers to the max in an attempt to save Vander, but he does it anyway because he is 'worth it'. Viktor is compassionate to an extent that it risks the continuation of the hexcore species.
Therefore, when Viktor says "that isn't Jayce, but there is another will at work within him", perhaps he is correct. Perhaps the hexcore recognised the risk to its own existence, and evolved in a way that allowed it to show Jayce the absolute horrors that could arise as a result of Viktor's influence, in order to convince Jayce he needed to destroy his dearest friend. Perhaps the hexcore's influence on Jayce deliberately persuaded him to annihilate the biggest threat to its existence: Viktor's humanity.
As other theories have pointed out, there are indications in the trailer (and in Viktor's final in-game form) that Viktor is not permanently dead: he most likely will have one last glorious evolution to become the Machine Herald in Act 3. But I would not be surprised if Viktor as we know him - Viktor's selflessness, Viktor's compassion, Viktor's humanity - will not survive the transformation. And thus, if the hexcore's biggest threat has been taken out.
I have no doubt whatsoever that Jayce had good intentions. But I wonder if it's possible that his visions were empty threats conjured by the hexcore, if Viktor's death was needless, if all of this was indeed just the result of an entity 'simultaneously self-replicating and self-annihilating', simply desperate to survive whatever the cost.
#not sure if i explained this in a way that makes sense oopsies#i just think it would be *devastating* if it turns out that jayce didn't have anything to worry about#like viktor seemed so motivated by compassion he surely wouldn't have led an army of mindless husks at this stage#but the hexcore just wants to survive so if it means using these two people's goodheartedness against each other it'll do it i guess#and now jayce's visions will probably become a reality. and he's also killed his best friend. yay! cool!#arcane#arcane meta#arcane analysis#arcane act 2#arcane act two#arcane season two#arcane season 2#arcane spoilers#jayvik#jayce arcane#jayce talis#viktor arcane#pre-act 3 theory

Brothers. ššāØ
Since my last post, I have been thinking about the dynamic that Dadi should have with Data and Geordiās families! And I have decided that a character who is a combination of Data and Geordi would be quite responsible by nature, so he would definitely accept everyone in their families as his own!
That brings us to the art. I interpret Data as being quite patient with Lore, while staying suspicious and keeping his wits about him, because he values having a brother at all. I think adding Geordiās feelings to the mix would add tension to their relationship, and result in Dadi having much less patience for Lore than Data does. He would take more of a self-preservation approach to the relationship than Data would, and would therefore be even more estranged from Lore. Ultimately, he views Lore as his very, very flawed brother who needs to get his shit together before they can spend more than a few minutes in the same room together! Similar things can be said about his relationship with Dr. Soong.
You can read more about Dadi here!

Would kup have gotten roped into having to watch one of the little orbbies? Like little rodimus? Or did he just get to sit back and laugh at ratchet and his rambunctious little guy.

If Eris meets someone and instantly realises that they are his mate, he knows nothing else of the person, how would he go about it?
i think he would try to take that shit to the grave ā theirs or his. the one romantic relationship he is most readily exposed to throughout his life is fraught with abuse, despair, and unwillingness; the open romantic and sexual relationships his brothers participate in look a lot like subjugation; their secret ones, the ones that are genuine and sacred, are under constant threat of exposure; and we all know what happened to jesminda. not to mention being mated to him means becoming an external vulnerability, a heart beating outside of his chest, aching for a hand to reach out and crush it ā and there are so many who would see him crippled in such a way. even beyond that, thereās the hostility a mate would experience amongst the autumn nobility. not while he was around, of course, but if they were ever left alone with all of the fae who wanted so desperately to ascend to power alongside the scion of autumn. so thereās obviously a lot of reasons he would keep it secret, all of them selfless, even if in the selfishness of the act.
but i do think, in the dark of the night, when the forest house is quiet and none are awake to scent the weakness on the air, he lets himself feel it ā the second heartbeat, just outside of his chest. beating much slower than his own, as though in sleep. he imagines what they look like in repose, how they might nestle deeper into their pillow with a furrow between their brow as a dream stirs them towards waking, how he might like to lean forward and press his mouth to it until they settled, there, in the dark, where no one would know but him. and then ā and then a servant creeps into his study to tend the hearth, which the ones loyal to him know not to do because he does not like to be disturbed and prefers to do so himself, which means this one is not loyal to him and is here to catch glimpse of what the heir is up to and report back to whoever sent them. (could be beron, could be a brother, could be a high-ranking noble who despises him, could be a high-ranking noble who hopes to slither into his bed. doesnāt matter much anymore.) the fantasy lives and dies in that moment, until the pressures of his life close around his chest once more and he must steal another reprieve from the heartbeat beyond, then it lives and dies there over again, again, again.
because the kindest thing eris vanserra can imagine doing for a mate is ensuring they never, ever know.
#ask#acotar#eris vanserra#*eris#THAT BEING SAID#thatās why we put him in Situations#i have a small kernel of a plot between him and the apothecary he gets his poultices and salves and what have you from#(bc beron often doesnāt let him see a healer after he is abused)#((and bc he wouldnāt want to be seen as weak besides))#(((why would there be an apothecary when healers exist? healer services are expensive! so few can afford them really.#but the land provides to those who know how to use it. and know how to use it she does)))#and eris realizes theyāre mates#and he is nasty asf to her on purpose#still needs her bc he has never felt such relief as when he uses her remedies but . he is such a dick abt it#doesnāt work#his offputting nature and freakish demeanor charm her#thereās just . such a weird draw to him ! she canāt explain it !#and then ā¦. dun dun dun ā¦ā¦. beron is seeking a court apothecary. to be helpful of course!#not because someone versed in healing plants would also be versed in their more nefarious cousins. obviously not#and who is the most respected sought-out apothecary nearby? :ā¢) yeah itās erisās mate#does beron know?#is that why?#eris doesnāt know but he uhhhh yeah he cannot let that happen#guess he has to engage with her in a completely normal way that does not make her suspicious or accept the position out of spite#(as if there was a choice)#acotar meta

Okay hear me out. Imagine a story where a scientist is leading a tour of kids through his lab, showing off all the inventions that will hopefully one day help humanity! In this tour is his son, who is very excited to be with his dad at his job, while also technically going to school? Win Win!! His dad has been a bit overprotective of him, but he sort of enjoys the attention. Although he isnāt too keen on his classmates who bully (perhaps one of the bullies is his brother or something) him for it, still poking and teasing him during the tour.
After awhile the dad shows off a portal machine which can open a portal to a whole new world, or at least thatās what they think it leads to anyway. The lab hasnāt fully tested it and is making a robot to send in first. The kids all ask if they can see it and the science team agrees as long as no one goes over the rails towards the portal, cause it seems to have a suction. (You can see where this is going I bet) The science team flips on the machine and the portal lights up, and while everyone is distracted the bully decides to have some fun, whispering into the Scientist kidās ear something like āMaybe youāll see your mom over thereā or āPerhaps I should just take out trash like you. Youāre just wasting dadās time anywayā before the kid can really process what happens he is pushed over the rail into the portal, disappearing. The machine shuts off with a clunk and the dad is pissed. He is shouting at the bully about how stupid that was and how they have no idea if itās even life sustainable on the other side! A guard nearby says that the kid is in real serious trouble for so many reasons, only for the dad to chime in that the bully better hope his kid is alive cause if he isnāt, heāll get a murder charge. The bully explains he didnāt mean to only for most of the class saying that the bully always does this and one student even repeats what he said before he pushed the kid in. They decide to end the tour early and send everyone home, while the bully is escorted out by the guards and wonāt be going home soon.
The science team asks what theyāre gonna do and the dad says theyāre gonna make something. Perhaps a suit or vehicle so that he can go into the portal and find his son. The team nods and quickly gets to work, they know itāll take more than a few weeks, but maybe if they are lucky the kid will be okay, and maybe they can get it done faster.
Meanwhile, the kid flies through the portal and lands on a soft ground. Panicking he sits up and looks around, only to notice heās on a huge bed. The portal sent him to a world that was way bigger than his own. Fear strikes him as he realizes where there is a big bed, thereās a big person. Heās right when he looks over across the room and sees a huge person sitting at a desk mumbling to themself. Heās frozen in fear and canāt move, even when the person swings around from their chair and walks over to their bed only to pause and stare at him.
The giant just stared at him, confused as to why there is a tiny child in their bed. They swear they didnāt put them there and are about to say something when the kid just burst out crying and the giant panicked. They quickly kneel by their bed and try to hush the child and tell them that itās okay. The child keeps sobbing and soft hiccups can be heard, but eventually the kid quiets down a bit. The giant carefully asks how the kid got there, and the boy answers between sobs. The giant listens and the boy eventually bursts into tears again, crying out that they want their dad. The giant gently scoops them up, and holds them close saying āhey, hey, itās going to be alright. You said your dad was a scientistā¦sooo he must have seen you get pushed in. I bet heās trying to get back to you, he just has to figure out how to.ā The kid sniffles and asks if the giant really believes that and they nod. They then reassure the kid that they wonāt hurt them and that theyāll watch and care for them, until their dad comes to save them. The boy nods and the giant pauses and asks if he likes movies. The boy says yes and that he likes action like movies. The giant then decides that maybe they could watch a movie, to help the boy calm down, theyāll even let the kid choose the movie. He gets a little excited over this and the two of them go and do exactly that. Through this we learn that the worlds are almost identical, but some things are changed like Superman is Aceman, and Ice Cream is Frost Gel. All still the same thing, just named differently, which both the giant and boy find amusing.
The boy stays with the giant for little over a week, getting used to the large surroundings and the movements of the giant. The giant provides a small house to the boy, made of a box and Legos, which the boy had fun playing with and designing that part of the little home. In the other world the dad and his team finally finished the suit. It was built to survive space, acid, lava, and other possibilities. It had a backpack built into the back that held food rations, weapons, tools, and other things for survival. There was also the case, which contained all the parts for a small return portal back home. Which had been tested multiple timesā¦.just not cross dimensionally. The suit also had a built in camera that would send live video feed back to the team while the dad, who wanted to be the one who went through, was over there looking for his son. Heād also do some science stuff, like take samples and explore a bit.
The day finally arrives and the dad walks through the portal. He finds himself behind a large plush wall, and he starts to walk around it when he hears booming voices. Meanwhile the giant is laying in bed scrolling through their phone. The kid is sleeping in their little house for a quick nap. Then out of the corner of their eye they see something move out from behind their pillow. The dad looks up and catches the giantās eye glancing at him. He freezes, and then grabs a weapon from the bag. This causes the giant to freak out and quickly flop out of their bed and onto the floor. The dad runs over and, using the mic in his suit, shouts āWHERE IS HE?!?!?ā The giant, confused as hell, asks that the ācrazy living action figure dudeā please put down the weapon, while also asking what he means. The dad just shouts āIF YOU DID ANYTHING TO HIM I SWEAR IāLL..ā the threat falls from his lips as the giant rises above him and cautiously walks over to the little house. They open the top and reach in, carefully waking the boy up and whispering that they have a surprise. The dad, still in a fighting stance, watches as the giant approaches with something in their hands. Heās about to fight, when the giant opens their hands and reveals his son, causing him to freeze. The boy pauses, not recognizing him cause of the suit, but once the dad rips the helmet off, the kid jumps off the giants hand and rushes to embrace his dad.
Both the kid and the dad just tightly hold onto each other as the giant just smiles softly, watching them. They then comment how much of a strong and loving dad the kid has and how the dad has such a brave and smart son. They both look up at the giant, who gives them a sweet smile. The dad explains they can go back home and the son is excited to tell his dad everything he learned about the place. The giant asks if there is anything they can do to help, which the dad asks if there is a safe place to setup a portal device somewhere that isnāt, well, a bed. The giant nods, and offers their hand to the pair. The son quickly hops on and the dad, carefully steps on after a bit of encouragement from his son. The giant takes them to their desk and says they can set it up in the free space near the wall.
After some time the portal is up and running and the dad has some samples, including a hair from the giant, and the small pair is ready to go home. The giant remarks that theyāll probably be seeing more of the tiny people, but says that they are welcome to visit. The boy hugs the giants hand and thanks them for taking care of them. The dad also thanks them for watching over his son, and says that heās glad that the giant was the one to find his son. They take their leave and the story comes out in their world about what happens. The bully is still charged for some things, mostly messing with official government science stuff, but everything seems fine in the end. Plus the boy made an amazing friend, and the dad found someone he can trust to watch his son.
Anyway, basically what if a portal led to a giant world similar to our own, but it was discovered because some kids decided to mess with a kid. Resulting in the kid getting lost in that world, having to wait to be found or find a way back themself?
#g/t#gt#gianttiny#giant/tiny#giant tiny#g/t idea#g/t ideas#g/t thoughts#g/t thought#g/t story idea#I think it would be interesting to find a whole new world filled with giants#although if I found a tiny crying child in my bed Iād probably freak out#Iād have to calm them down and try and figure out how they got here and whether or not they were always tiny#it would be 100% worse if they happened to be from the same universe and the portal just shrunk them and sent them somewhere random#especially if you see the missing posters and think āwait I have themā¦how am I gonna explain their size?!?!?ā#but if theyāre from another world itās more āoh okay. just smaller universe..okay okayā¦letās figure out dimension travel thenā¦I guess!!!ā#either way Iād comfort them and definitely help or try and help them get back home#Iād just make sure that they were okay and watch over themā¦go all mama bear mode I guess haha#also sorry this got long and is basically a short story written shorterā¦a shrunken story hehehe

this is some really personal shit that has to do with how i analyze and interpret john.
when i was a child, my father dragged me around the country from motel to motel talking about how he lost my mother and his single-minded focus on getting her back. i was his best friend. i was his only confidant. i wanted him to be happy all the time. i felt responsible for when he was sad - both with whatever the current situation was and in all the sad moments of his long sad life. when i wasn't with him, sometimes he would go for weeks without calling and i would miss him and think i did something wrong and then sometimes he would tell me what that wrong thing was and i would try to do better. i sat patiently and quietly on the couch in his strange friend's dark house filled with fishing gear while they talked and talked and talked about the ways the world had screwed them over. i never knew where we were driving to. sometimes i would sleep in the car for hours and we still hadn't gotten there. he wanted me to show him a terrifying and confounding amount of respect. he would cry and i would kneel on the couch next to him and try to envelope his whole body into my arms in a hug. i loved him ferociously and protectively. he wanted my singular loyalty and got it. it's so hard to even summarize it all. each moment is just so full of ...
he hurt my feelings and i loved him. i got mad at him and i loved him. he got mad at me and i loved him. i felt deeply sorry for him and i loved him.
and when i watched supernatural oh boy let me tell you.....
and i know it's not chic or whatever to compare john to your dad. I KNOW THAT. but not to garishly bear my open bloody heart on the internet. it's just. i watched this fucking show and i was like... i know him. like. i know that man.
and i'm kinda screwed because we all are analyzing things from our own experiences so when i'm interpreting all the little clues left about john throughout the show, it all feels so familiar. and i don't actually have a way to separate my experience as a child with that kind of father from the way i'm analyzing and watching spn. and so i'm stuck saying, well john just is really similar to my dad. and, yeah, of course there are differences. but i guess all i can do is commit to bringing as much nuance and care to any and all creative endeavors or analysis as half a lifetime of therapy has taught me...
#cn idk#cn implied abuse?#this is so wildly personal im sorry#i am prone to disclaimers and over explaining and this is my most... idk... thing to explain#like in a very real way this is why im like this#and im sorry i feel like maybe there's been a bit of a current to idk...#like i'm worried people see my takes or my fics and are like this is shitty and not fair enough or something#or like it's reductive of analysis to say how he feels like your own father#and i'm just like...#im trying really hard but it would be a lot simpler if my dad hadn't tried so hard to get me to call him sir#or asked me for help paying for stuff cause he had trouble keeping a job#but really i respect people wanting to delve more into john's emotions and everything#like i get that#he's a really interesting character#but i spent 20+ years trying to empathize with and understand my father#and now i really kinda do#and im not looking for more ... idk... practice with that#what i am looking for is how to heal from that#how to feel like you're allowed to picture a future you might want#how to love without worrying thats who you'll become#so basically dean things#and like i do a LOT of trying to get into john's headspace when im writing cause he just is so real to me but like... idk...#it's not juicy crunchy yummy analysis to me i guess...?

FOR CLARIFICATION: would you get upset if you went to a musical expecting a certain actor playing a specific role, but to actually have a swing/ understudy playing instead
I ask because I have a friend whoās big into Six. She went to many shows a few years ago, literally became friends with them and knows them personally now, but now the cast has changed she refuses to see it
Iām mainly curious since Iāve been into musicals for the past ten years and Iāve never really cared which actors I get. Not that I donāt care about the actors at all, donāt get me wrong, but for example when I saw Cats, Nicole Scherzinger but we had a swing and it was still good, dare I say better. Saw Stex earlier this year and we had an understudy for Rusty and I didnāt even notice! Like yeah I love Jeevan but Scott was still amazing?? I do understand where my friend is coming from, but itās just a little strange to me
EDIT: maybe I didnāt word this as well as I should have. I donāt mean that itās not right to have a favourite actor/ cast. For example Iād love to see micheal crawford play the phantom! But I wouldnāt never go and see it ever again just because thereās a new phantom. BUT if he did come back and I went just to see him, am I not watching micheal crawford, not phantom of the opera?
#maybe Iām missing something but I donāt understand why people would be upset because they didnāt get the actor they wanted to see#I donāt know how to explain it but I mean no disrespect to the actors whatsoever#but surely youāre going to watch the musical? not to watch them as a person?#I guess itās the same for actors but as a dancer when Iām on stage performing Iām not me?? Iām just a dancer#my friend is a dancer too and is friends with the cast partly because she loves the musical but also because she is working her way up#to perform at the west end just as a side note#musicals#cats musical#starlight express#six the musical#west end#andrew lloyd webber#actors#dance
