this is just kinda an amalgamation of thoughts with no point to it but. i've been thinking about how the show would explain it if they had buck move on to another love interest next season. and idk how to word this correctly but the thought i'm having is like... if the only given explanation for bucktommy being over and the relationship not being the right one for buck is that tommy was his first boyfriend, for me what that's doing is legitimising the "i'm not your last, i'm your first" which was a statement born out of insecurity! to me the point of that should be tommy was wrong. i need him to be proved wrong.

otherwise... so the moral of the story here is that tommy was right and that buck doesn't understand his own feeings? that he mistook the excitement of the "novelty" of having a boyfriend for having real feelings for someone? that tommy was just a starter boyfriend and buck needs to "try out" other people (because his relationships with women don't count, obviously). biphobia? on the show that won't even let buck say the word bisexual? surprise! but not just that, i'm kinda sick of the whole treating buck like he's not an almost 34 year old man and is instead an impulsive teenage boy who we can't possibly take seriously when he says something about how he's feeling.

ALSO we know that abby was buck's most transformative relationship up until tommy. that i don't disagree with, buck said it himself. but i don't think we should look at it as tommy is only his most transformative relationship because he's a man and he made buck realise he liked men. is that part of it? definitely. but i don't think this was comparable to his other relationships in so many ways. Buck was, as he said, just so comfortable with him. he let tommy look after him and was never made to feel guilty about it. he wanted to move in with him, and while perhaps it was impulsive it wasn't like with taylor where he asked her to avoid telling her something else. he even brought up marriage unprompted! whereas the whole idea of getting engaged to taylor weirded him out. i don't want this relationship to be reduced to the fact that tommy was a man or that he helped buck "figure himself out".

personally i would like it to be made clear that tommy said what he said purely because he was scared of getting his heart broken, not because there was any truth to it. i can't have this end with buck going "yeah, guess he was right". the important points are, 1, he's not his first, and 2, it doesn't fucking matter if he was. I'm not even saying he HAS to end up with tommy. do i think he should? yes. do i think it would be a massively wasted opportunity and a stupid decision if not? yes. but the point is that if he decides to move on all of a sudden after holding on to these feelings for so long, i want to be given a better reason it couldn't work out 🤷‍♂️

(oh, and just adding that as a tommy enjoyer, i don't like leaving him believing that he isn't good enough, and then having that confirmed when buck moves on with someone "better". but whatever.)

What did/do you like about Pharah?

Uh, gameplay-wise, I really love characters in shooters who rely on three-dimensional movement techs. Chaining together hover and jump to stay in the air for as long as possible and keep momentum is so satisfying, and picking enemies off from the sky made me feel like a bird of prey. I was a good Pharah main.

Story-wise, there unfortunately isn't much to canonically go off because Pharah is so underutilized and neglected. Her personality's pretty boilerplate "heroic hero" (she's literally inspired by Captain America).

But it's the crumbs/bits and pieces that I really latched onto. Pharah's a confirmed lesbian; her short story with Baptiste implies she harbors a crush on Mercy (fucking thank you.). She's biracial Egyptian/First Nations. She has major mommy issues, having grown up both admiring and resenting Ana. She's the bridge between Old Overwatch, inspired by the idealized heroes who surrounded her childhood, and New Overwatch. She's one of the only inter-generational characters in the cast; someone whose experiences span the gap, which is why I seriously believe Pharah would make a great main character.

There isn't much to go off of, though; she's a very uncomplicated character (she's a soldier for a private military corporation, lol.). But that just means she's a blank slate character, so I've seen fanfic writers run wild and create some really interesting takes on her. My favorite interpretation of her's a dense, herbo gym-bro type (a lot of her liens are about work outs, exercising, and playing sports) who's easily excitable under her seemingly self-serious, armored visage. We see how she tends to gloat and hype herself up when she's on a streak too, so Pharah definitely has a competitive and boastful side under her more professional and militant performance.

Now Mercy? Mercy is a real complex character.

btw in the au where inho becomes the frontman in 2004 and brings young junho with him junho obviously can't have like a phone or something or hang out with his friends while he's on the island so he spends all his time there reading and writing and drawing. he brings a little notepad and writes little notes and diary entries and little ideas for stories and he draws little pictures straight out of inho's huge art books and draws his own. he's obsessed with drawing cars and cityscapes. like half the pages are just covered in cars.

between games inho's like "hey your notepad's running out of space, isn't it? when cleanup and closing are done and we head back to the mainland do you wanna go get a new one?" and junho's like "fuck yea" and they just go shopping together like everything is normal. and junho gets two notepads—

"hyung, which one of these do you like more?"

"which one do you like more?"

"i'm asking you."

"hm..."

a beat. inho points to the plain black pad in junho's right hand. "that one."

junho nods. glances back to the rack. After a moment, he stacks the two notebooks on top of each other, left over right.

"we can go, now."

inho blinks. smiles. they leave the aisle together, inho's hand on junho's shoulder.

"do you want pens, too?" inho asks.

junho perks up, a little like a dog hearing the word "treat."

"can i get gel pens?"

inho tilts his head. "gel pens?"

"yeah, the colourful ones. i only have black, red, and blue."

"if that's what you want..."

when junho picks up a box of the pens, inho stops him.

"i think a hundred might be a few too many."

junho blinks. points at the box.

"this is the only pack with all the ones i want."

"there are a dozen other packs with the same colours that don't have a hundred pens in them. surely one of them has most of them, or maybe two have all the ones you need."

junho stares. "but i want this one."

curse him. curse inho's never-ending affection and weakness for him.

defeated, inho sighs. "you can have that one, then."

junho picks up the box, victorious, and they leave together.

(the next time junho goes shopping for pens, he gets two ten-packs. inho says nothing.)

—and a little tin of chocolates, grabbed silently and pocketed without inho's notice—

"where'd you get these?" inho asks, picking up a small box of chocolates as junho sets their purchases out on the counter.

junho hardly glances over from his work. "stole it. do you want one?"

inho stops. he puts the box down. "you stole it?"

"yeah," junho says. unbelievably casual.

inho stares at him. junho doesn't even notice. "junho," he begins, voice growing serious. ominous. it's hard to keep the threat of violence out of his voice, even if he would never think to lay a harming hand on his brother. the games have taken more than his former life. "you can't steal things."

unaffected, junho says, "you kill people."

inho's eye twitches. he says nothing. he leaves the chocolates on the counter.

—and they go home. and junho draws his little pictures and writes his little notes. and the next time they leave for the island, there's a drawing of a car on the fridge, a black notepad in inho's bag, and the taste of shared chocolate melting on both their tongues.

Imagine a like minds summer. Same characters same time, just summer. How would Alex and Nigel meet? Interact? What different exterior force would force them to meet. Or would Nigel seek Alex out due to him being in his radar. (due to his beliefs of their father’s club) lol imagine Nigel stalking Alex and planning a special meet up only for Alex to blow him off.

Alex also living at the school. Imagine the bullshit they’d get up to in a mostly empty school all to their selves.

What were Alex’s father’s rules during the summer when everyone else was gone? (I just know Alex broke most of them) what other types of mischief did he, Josh, and Raj get up too. When and where (if) did they meet up?

Maybe they couldn’t meet up much and Alex would be left even more alone. (Which is perfect for Nigel to get to him)

Alex and Nigel could have also met if both of their fathers brought them to one of their meetings or whatever the club does, and they meet in the early summer. Having around two months. I bet they’d only have a few days or couple weeks of them not bickering.(or trying to hurt one another)

All the victims would still be dead of course, just slightly different situations leading up to the events.

Perhaps one of the rare times that Alex gets to meet up with Josh is when they plan to mess with Nigel. Making Nigel come ‘meet up with Alex’ then drugging him and getting him in the train. Then Josh dies and Alex feels even more guilty.

They could meet Susan at a corner store where she’s working for the summer. Alex would know her because he goes there often to get snacks and better food than the school food. Nigel would still see her as Alex’s Maraclea and would kill her.

Viewing it as a film, I think it would have a bit of a lighter feeling than the original, but still have its dark undertones. A lot of scenes would be at dusk and dawn. (I’m a firm believer in sunrise Alex and sunset Nigel)

Nigel’s death would come with the same fate. It would still be at the train tracks and it would be raining, but the sun would rise just a bit earlier and the clouds would eventually drift off, and Alex would be faced with it all.(being dragged away from Nigel’s body just as the sun peaks through, he is reborn) 9 months from August would be May.

I’d like to think that it would be the summer in-between the last school year. Alex coming back after missing the first month of school due to being detained for questioning. And being known as the faulty son who watched as a boy killed himself after killing his parents. (If the public even knew that) Alex would be absolutely haunted throughout that year. Quiet like he’s never been before. Then in May he disappears and no one can find him. He’s now carrying on Nigel’s legacy. Susans card is found and he becomes a suspect for her death.

But he is free. The weather is warm and Alex is reminded of Nigel, he must complete the cycle.

I would totally write a fic but I have no knowledge of what a teenager 2006 British summer looks like. I don't even know what a 2025 British summer looks like.

He likely wasn’t able to mature in that time, permanently 10 and just knowing he made the wish out of fear of losing Cosmo and Wanda (and Poof? I don’t remember when in the series this happens) the only positive adult present in his life forever, not even allowed to remember them. His life before Cosmo and Wanda was living in a neglectful home with an abusive babysitter which went unnoticed because the ones who should have been there to notice, his school teachers, were also abusive— and the only people who would’ve been able to realize the abusive staff, his parents, were neglecting him, it’s a cycle.

Even if, being aware of the wish, Timmy knew it had been 50 years of being 10, 50 years of experiencing life, his body and brain were still stuck at 10 years old, physically incapable of realizing the detriment of “I’ve trapped everyone in a time loop” beyond his personal detriment of “my godparents, my only family, are going to leave me and this is the only way to keep them.”

cressida's storyline was genuinely shameful tbhhh it's like they started rewriting it in the first half of the season then completely forgot about the changes they'd made to make it fit the book plot and it just ends up making everyone else look bad😐 every character in the second half got a "penelope did nothing wrong" lobotomy so we ended up with eloise completely ignoring cressida being sold off to an horrible man (when she made every effort to support her in the first half of the season) and for some reason resenting her for pretending to be lady whistledown? Then they somehow frame her ignoring colin's offensively bad pleas as it being her turning away from redemption when all she's trying to do is escape being trapped in the country with her likely abusive aunt... and it ends with her meeting her horrible fate and it still being framed as tragic only to immediately juxtapose it with the bridgerton family winning the idgaf war while gleefully seeing off francesca and her future dead husband. The bridgertons were the villains of the season frfr
