Sodapop really appreciates your quietness. He loves to sit with you in silence or sit with you and vent after Ponyboy and Darry fight

If you use sign language, your brothers learn it to communicate with you- and eventually the rest of the guys start to pick up some signs or ask you to teach them some signs

Johnny really connects with you and, like Soda, enjoys your quiet, calming vibe

Darry hates to see anyone mocking you for not talking or for signing, parents will be called, teachers will be informed, and Darry will consider the morality of punching a 13 year old child

All the guys are worried about you, because not only are you in danger of being jumped for being a greaser, but they know you won't yell for help and won't stand up for yourself

They're worried for when you start highschool

Darry gets really mad if you walk somewhere alone

Pony walks with you most places

Dallas and Steve are the least understanding, but they accept it and will stand up for you if someone mocks you.

"Everyone be quiet, y/n and I are talking in our brains." He'll say as he rubs his the sides of his temple

They've all gotten very good at reading your expressions

"Y/n, don't say anything if I can eat all the cake batter." Two-bit says while slowly reaching for the bowl. You glare at him then smack his hands away. He chuckles and steps back. You sigh then pick up the bowl and carefully pour the batter into a pan.

Ponyboy doesn't look up from his book when he says, "Leave her alone, Two-bit."

Two-bit ruffles Pony's hair before sitting down at the table. "Relax, kid, I'm just messing around. It's cool. Right, Y/n?"

You turn your head to look at him and roll your eyes. He chuckles. You close the oven and set a timer for 40 minutes. Soda and Steve walk into the kitchen in their DX uniforms. Soda smiles and waves and you smile back.

"I can't believe you worked on your birthday, Soda." Two-bit chuckles.

Soda shrugs, "I like my job. Plus, I got to spend the whole day with my best friend." He pats Steve on the shoulder. "Cake almost done, Y/n?"

"39 minutes." You sign as you sit down at the table.

When the cake is finally cooled down, you frost it. You carefully, and as evenly as possible, spread the frosting over the cake. Once done, you stick in all 17 candles. Ponyboy, who had been impatiently watching you asks, "Is it done?"

You nod.

"Guys the cake is done!" Pony yells excitedly as he hurries into the living room to let everyone know. All of the guys were at the house, and everyone hurriedly made their way to the dining room. You carefully set the chocolate cake down infront of Soda. Darry lights the candles as you sit down. It takes a decent amount of time to light 17 candles, but once they're all lit, the guys begin to sing.

"Happy birthday to you." You hum the song as everyone sings to Soda. Once the song is over, Soda blows out his candle.

"What'd you wish for?" Two-Bit asks.

"He cant tell you, then it won't come true." Steve rebukes.

Soda smiles mischievously. "I wished you wouldn't talk so damn much, Two!"

Two-bit falls into hysterics, and Darry warns, "Language."

You cut the cake. Soda, of course is handed the first piece.

"Thank you, y/n."

Two-bit and Steve fight over the second piece, but they calm down once a third is cut. Then Pony and Johnny get one.

You point at Dallas then at the cake, to ask if he wants a slice. He nods, so you give him one. Darry declines at first, but the protests from his brothers convince him to have a slice too. You finally cut a piece for yourself.

Later that night, after all the guys had gone home, and you'd gotten ready for bed, you join Soda in the living room. He's looking at a chain that Steve got him, and the flannels you and Ponyboy got him are folded beside him. He looks up at you as you walk in. You wave, and he smiles. You sit next to him on the couch. You two sit in silence for a while, the only sound being the chain moving around in his hands.

"Happy birthday, Soda." You mutter quietly, looking at his hands. You look at his eyes for the next part. "I love you."

Soda beams. He wraps an arm around you and pulls you in for a side hug. "Thank you. I love you too, and don't you forget it."

I think I’ve posted something about this before, but I HC Mr. and Mrs. Curtis to have been a rather young couple. I’m talking like- early twenties (20-23) when Mrs. Curtis found out she was pregnant with Darry.

GOSH. They were so in love with one another it’s so stinkin cute. I’m getting high school sweethearts in a small hometown vibe.

When they first started dating things just came so naturally to them. There was no awkward stage or anything like that. They were both smitten at first glance.

I like to think Darrel was a quiet baby. He didn’t give his parents headaches or keep them up at night like they expected him to. Because of him being so quiet and ‘well behaved’, I think that sort of led to Mrs. Curtis being more open to the idea of another pregnancy.

Mr. Curtis grew up as a BIGGG family guy. He always wanted a little tribe of kids one day because he had been surrounded by children all his life. Mrs. Curtis on the other hand, she grew up in a tight-knit family of four. While they were happy together, she wasn’t used to the whole idea of grandparents and cousins and whatnot. Having kids wasn’t necessarily a life long goal for her, so she was only set on having one.

Mr. Curtis had to persuade Mrs. Curtis for months before she even thought about having Soda. He’d hold baby Darrel up to her and say something corny like “Look at him. He wants a sibling. Just look at those eyes-!”

After a lot of convincing and lots of thought put into the idea, she agreed for baby number two. Soda would grow up to be a momma’s boy, and she absolutely ADORED that about him. Darry was always a bit more attached to Mr. Curtis. Since he was about 5 years old all the way up until Mr. Curtis’s passing, they had been super close. When Soda was brought into the picture, he was more drawn to Mrs. Curtis and completely stole her heart.

Soda was definitely not as quiet as Darry had been throughout infancy. He would cry. And cry. And cry. Nonstop.

When Ponyboy came along, he was more quiet than anything. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis really took their time when parenting Ponyboy because they knew they were stopping at baby number three. Darry and Soda had grown up so fast; they wanted to really cherish Pony’s childhood while it lasted.

All first names were up to Mr. Curtis, and all middle names were up to Mrs. Curtis!!

Mr. Curtis was always given nicknames by his father as a kid. I’m talking like the most RANDOM nicknames. Mr. Curtis felt inspired by his own father’s creativeness to the point where he sort of learned from it. That’s how he became fond of the whole ‘Sodapop’ and ‘Ponyboy’ name choices.

Mrs. Curtis tried reasoning with him that HER name choices should be their first, and Mr. Curtis’s should be middle names. But Mr. Curtis disagreed, claiming “Patrick Sodapop Curtis” and “Michael Ponyboy Curtis” didn’t sound right. (HELP LMFAO)

When it comes to parenting, I feel like Mr. and Mrs. Curtis were very on board with their technique. Like there was no spanking or shit like that, they’d never dream of doing that to their kids. They would resort to saying no to fun things like going to the playground or ‘time out’ (which translates to alone time until they felt better) as punishment.

As the boys grew older and the Curtis gang formed itself, THAT’S when the house became the hangout spot. Keep in mind, this would be a few years pre-book timeline where Ponyboy wasn’t even a pre-teen, and Darry was still in high school. Of course Steve had been friends with Soda since they were little, and I’d like to say the same with Pony and Johnny - BUTTTT the others didn’t really come along until a few years before book timeline.

The Curtis house became the hangout spot because Mr. and Mrs. Curtis were the ideal family in everyone’s eyes. Besides Darry, Soda, and Pony, the other boys didn’t come from the best homes. They felt safe at the Curtis residence, therefore making it THE spot to go to.

It’s canon that Mrs. Curtis kept Dally out of trouble, but I think she did that with everyone. It was like her ‘maternal instincts’ or wtv you wanna call it that caused her to desire to protect the other boys. If they were a friend of HER children, they were under her care as well.

The Curtis family was never rich but they were RICH if you catch my drift.

Darry had set the stand the standards when it came to academics. He always kept good grades and made his parents proud. Soda is smart, but he had so much trouble focusing in school that he didn’t have as good as grades as his older brother. Ponyboy was the academic weapon of the family and moved up a grade because of it. Even though they were all at different levels of achievement when it came to grades, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis would reward them all equally. Darrel brought home a B? He’s going to get ice cream. Soda brought home a C? He’s going to get ice cream. Pony brought home an A? He’s going to get ice cream.

When Darry and Soda were in elementary school, and Pony was still too young to attend, he’d sit on Mrs. Curtis’s lap while she would knit. Mrs. Curtis would babble about things no four year old would remember, but it actually helped his vocabulary a lot in the long run.

Mr. and Mrs. Curtis were so in love with each other that their children automatically assumed that’s how all families operated. It was eye-opening when they started school and heard stories from their friends of abusive parents.

Since the day Mr. Curtis heard he was having a baby boy, he began to hope that he would become his little ‘sports buddy’. As Soda and Ponyboy came along, he tried his hardest to get them to enjoy sports as much as he did, but Darry was the only one who stuck with it. He was damn good at it too because of his height, hence why he joined the football team in high school.

Since I think Ponyboy and Johnny had been friends for a while, I like to think that Mrs. Curtis also took a special liking to him. She was well aware of his family problems and sort of took him under her wing. I can imagine her trying to feed the poor boy and try to offer him some hand-me-downs from Darry. She was literally the kindest woman Johnny has ever met.

Dinner was always very serious at the Curtis residence. If someone was coming over for dinner, Mrs. Curtis would have a feast prepared and make sure that person was left satisfied.

Because Mr. Curtis was so romantic with Mrs. Curtis all the time, Sodapop seemed experienced when he first started dating Sandy because his father rubbed off on him so much.

I’m in a very hurt/comfort mood so do you have any hcs about the first time the Curtis brothers got sick after their parents died? They’re all trying to take care of each other while also dealing with so much grief because it’s really hitting now that their parents are gone and maybe the gang knows how hard it has to be so they come over and help them out? I think it would be cute and fluffy ❤️🎞️

I feel like it was Pony who ended up staying a bit too late at his parents grave one night and many weeks of not sleeping that finally caught up with him and he got the flu

Darry absolutely did not know what to do-usually his mom would make them herbal tea and soup when they were sick but DRry isn’t sure how to do it exactly right

Soda just spends his time snuggling a very sick Pony because it’s all he knows how to do

Pony gets super delirious and accidentally calls Darry dad and it just….hits Darry all at once. He’s their dad now. He’s their dad. His dad is gone. And he just swallows down tears as he shakes his head and has to correct Pony

Soda needs up getting sick next cause he’s in close proximity to Pony all the time, half by Pony’s request that he doesn’t wanna be alone because his mama used to snuggle him when he was little and it brings him comfort and because Soda is just a golden retriever that cannot be without human contact for more than ten minutes

So Darry is caring for both of them

He dug through their parents bedrooms and found the herbal tea packets Mrs. Curtis had made herself before she died and he almost had a breakdown making it

Soda begged him to stay and cuddle and Darry couldn’t say no. So then Darry ended up getting sick

Honestly it was Two Bit who first came over-he would bring Pony his make up assignments and he found all three Curtis brothers in the living room on the couch-Pony’s been crying, Darry looks beyond exhausted and Soda has crusted vomit on his shirt

Steve wasn’t far behind because he was ready to tear Soda anew one for skipping work but then he was just like “oh 🧍‍♂️”

Two Bit and Dally steal medicine a lot-it’s not the best but they make sure to get wherever they can without getting caught

Honestly Johnny would be so confused too as of what to do-his own parents couldn’t give a rats ass when he was sick but the Curtis parents taught him how to make food-and Dally is banned form the kitchen along with Steve and Two Bit majes wonkier food than Soda does so Johnny is the only one allowed to cook

Dally has threatened Darry to stay laying down and resting because “I’m not dealing with your sick ass trying to work man 😡”

Steve usually takes over as Soda’s new pillow because the Curtis brothers are all sweating on each other and it’s lowkey nasty

Steve is also the one to hold Soda’s hair back when he pukes, babies 🥺

Two Bit knows a good deal of what to do when people are sick because he has Kit (his sister) wt home but he often babies Pony because Kit is like…7 or 8 and Pony hates it

“I ain’t a little kid anymore 😡” says the one who looks like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer while curled up in a floofy blanket with tissues surrounding him, ok buddy

They all listen to the Curtises sickened rants about how they miss their parents-Johnny was. a bit rigid because he didn’t know what to do-but he listened. Sally half listened but he did actually somewhat care. Steve just held Soda and Two Bit was the most empathetic actually. He gave them words of reassurance and whatnot. He was so super sweet.

soda untangling pony from a sleep apnea machine after he has a nightmare and hugging his little brother while he tries to calm down and holding the mask in place for him to give his head a break from the straps. ir doesn’t matter if pony falls asleep like that, soda will hold the mask in place for weeks if it means pony gets some sleep

steve will throw pony a candy bar from the dx whenever he has to leave school early to go to the doctor. two-bit likes to sneak him a couple bucks for a milkshake after the fact.

darry holding his baby brother on the bathroom floor with a nebulizer to get a breathing treatment into pony but he can’t stop coughing long enough for it to work and he is just so worked up that he eventually throws up from all the coughing

johnny (bc yes of course he survived and they all lived happily ever after) keeping pony’s inhaler in a pouch in his wheelchair and gently reminding him to take it easy in gym class

EXPLAINING MY KNY OUTSIDERS AU BC SOMEONE EXPLAINED THERES AND I JUST REALLY LIKE MINE.

so basically it doesn’t really follow the exact plot of actual demon slayer but it’s okay I think 😞

Scout(from the series) and Ponyboy have the the tanjiro and nezuko type relationship and mark(that was then this is now) and curly are ponyboys two best friends :3 Bryon ofc is marks best friend but u get it.

Basically when pony,Soda, and Darry were younger, about 4 year before their cannon age, they ofc were very poor and in order to get money, Darry trained and trained and became a demon slayer after passing final selection, becoming a Hashira after 5 months bc of killing a lower moon, though he “lost”his best friend (Paul) because of this. Tho Soda became a demon slayer 2-3 years after leaving his home to train with Darry. Both leaving their home and only being able to speak to pony through letters. Though most were between ponyboy and Soda but Darry always sent letters when he wasnt busy with whatever hashiras were doing, as well as sending much money.

Fast forward a year after Soda leaving, pony became very close friends with a girl named scout, and when she slept over one night in their home in the mountains, he left to the village at night and stayed out longer by accident and when he came back he found his parents and scout covered in blood. And in a panic feeling for pulses and found one in scout. Then trying to run to the village and the getting his scar on his head from scout hitting him into the tree to defend HIM when (you’ll never guess) DALLY came to kill her cause Yk demon stuff. Then the whole thing happens that happens with tanjiro and giyuu with them and instead of sending pony going to a separate trainer he gets sent to Soda and Darry. With scout ofc. And that’s kinda how the whole thing starts.

When Darry and Soda found out about their parents death they were absolutely devastated, even more so when they realize they couldn’t hold a funeral bc Hashira can’t exactly take a day off, esp multiple since it’s about a 4 day walk from where they are to where they live. Bc of this pony and Soda (and scout) lived in Darry’s home. Soda already lived there but whatever.

While pony lives there that’s where he meets mark, Bryon, and curly and became close friends with mark and curly, Bryon wasn’t his biggest fan but didn’t hate him 🙏 mark and Bryon going to final selection with pony.

Now we’re at a really good scene, where Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally go to the drive-in movies and meet Cherry and Marcia. This scene has enough for me to talk about that I’ll probably separate it into a couple parts to address different aspects.

We went to the rows of seats in front of the concession stand to sit down. Nobody else was there except two girls who were sitting down front. Dally eyed them coolly, then walked down the aisle and sat right behind them. I had a sick feeling that Dally was up to his usual tricks, and I was right. He started talking, loud enough for the two girls to hear. He started out bad and got worse. Dallas could talk awful dirty if he wanted to and I guess he wanted to then. I felt my ears get hot. [. . .] I sat there, struck dumb, and Johnny left hastily to get a Coke. (Pg 20-21)

So Dally enjoys embarrassing girls, that much is clear. I don’t believe he really thinks he can pick up girls by talking trash in front of them. I think boys like this just have fun proving they’re tough. It’s another learned/expected behavior, and most of the gang seems to do it.

Pony says Two-Bit, Steve, and Soda would probably do the same as Dally, just getting their kicks trying to embarrass the girls. Pony also says that doesn’t appeal to him even though if the girls had been greasers instead of Socs, he might have joined in with Dallas and the other guys. That says a lot. That Pony is definitely susceptible to trying to be tough like the other guys in the gang. I think it’s fair to say that peer influence is a big thing, especially for these boys that band together for support and acceptance and family.

So Dally doesn’t seem to be genuinely interested in the act of “dirty talking” to “pick up” girls other than to act tough and maintain his image, and we’ll see more of that throughout the scene.

It’s interesting to note that Dally’s act also embarrasses Johnny, who pretty much escapes as soon as he can. Johnny would obviously never do something like this because he’s shy and quiet and whatnot. He probably feels the pressure as well, but he doesn’t join in at all.

That says a lot about his character, but it also contrasts him with Dally in the way I believe them to be both opposites and parallels. Here, opposite in their treatment of and relationship with women where one throws himself into it and one avoids it, and parallel in that they both might be struggling with realizing the same homosexual feelings while stuck in a heteronormative society that pressures boys into being a certain way, especially in this era. Ponyboy

With Ponyboy, he’ll never admit it but he just wants to be held. He probably won’t seek it out but the gang knows to just hold him for a bit. He doesn’t have the weakest immune system? But he does have a VERY weak stomach and gets stress induced stomachaches very easily and it’s always obvious but he tries to hide it because he feels like a burden to his brothers already, even post book he feels like a burden so he just tries to hide it but he has a VERY vocal tummy that has no problem ratting him out. He also likes being red to. It’ll put him to sleep in five seconds flat.

Soda

Soda likes constant cuddles, but unlike Pony he’s VERY vocal about it. I feel like he’s whiny too when he’s sick lol-like you try to get up for even a second and he’s whining for you to come back because he wants more cuddles. Soda has a very strong immune system (probably because he ate rocks and dirt as a kid but shhhhhh) but he too feels like a burden. But it’s very obvious when he’s sick. Sometimes Darry will take off work but it’s kind of rare. If he and Pony have work and school Pony will tell Steve and Steve will up and skip school for him. He just loves being held.

Darry

Darry is difficult. I think he’d want to be left alone because god forbid he gets the rest of the gang sick. He also really just doesn’t want to be touched because he feels gross and sweaty. He does however really enjoy sick foods like soup and crackers. It just makes him happy. He’s VERY stubborn’ tho and Pony/Soda need to literally threaten not to talk to him if he pulls that shit. He has a fairly strong immune system. But when he’s sick it’s really intense. He gets headaches a lot and that paired with chronic back pain it just isn’t pretty.

Johnny

Johnny…it’s hard with him. He’s not really used to being taken care of? So he honestly probably just hangs out in the lot because he doesn’t want anyone else to get sick. However usually Dally or Darry will see him and they’ll drag him to wherever they’re staying. I feel like he just wants to get better as soon as possible to get out of everyone’s hair, but in all honesty it feels good to be taken care of. I feel like when he gets sick it’s like…these really awful things. He doesn’t get to eat often so he probably eats from dumpsters and whatnot (or at least he used to) but he’s gotten worms and shit. It’s intense. But he has the strongest immune system I think. He’s learned.

Dallas

Dallas doesn’t get sick. But when he does he’s a complete ass about it and makes it everyone’s problem. He’s constantly trying to leave and refuses a lot of the medicines and stuff because “he doesn’t need that pussy shit” but he does. And they probably have to wrap it up in a slice of ham like he’s a damn dog. He hates being sick though, like he’ll literally straight up walk out and Darry has to carry his ass back clawing and screaming. He’s silly. shut he has a very strong immune system. Either that or he tries to drink it off but he can’t hold it down and he gets mad.

Two Bit

Two gets really delusional. It’s like he’s high. He’s like his normal self just a lot slower Like he starts having hallucinations and stuff. It’s mildly concerning because one second he’s just staring off into space and the next he’s yelling about the Ketchup Man or something. He doesn’t mind being taken care of though. He probably tries to live off beer and cake but he throws it all up. He doesn’t really have curtesy though and will like…cough on people lmao

Steve

Steve is hard 😭 I think he’s kind of like Dally how he hates being taken care of but the only one who can get through to him is Soda and Soda will drive his ass home from the gas station to just lay down and relax. Steve gets genuinely mad that he’s sick lmao-like he’s so mean to Pony too like Pony will be coming home from school and he’ll just look at Steve and Steve’s like “what’re you lookin’ at” with a puffy nose and watery eyes. He gets lowkey mean but never to Soda (or Darry because Darry will kill him) but he’s SO mean to Pony (well Pony’s probably mean back lmao) but in the end he just wants to be sleeping. He sleeps a LOT. Like seventeen hours a day lmao

I read (half of) chapter 2 last night and realized a few things

The Socs have their own bars. Rusty’s and somewhere else (can’t remember the name) while the Greasers have The Dingo and Jay’s. Pony said The Dingo is SUPER rough and “a girl got shot once”. Pony seems to be very observant as well when he says that “Cherry didn’t take Dallas’ Coke and said she wouldn’t drink it if she was dying of starvation in the desert, and she meant it. It was the principle of the thing.” meanwhile “Marcia didn’t see a reason to throw away a perfectly good Coke”. Kinda shows he’s observant and whatnot. He also said when Dally started in on Cherry he “always knew how to talk dirty” and whatnot. He said Two Bit or Steve or even Soda would’ve joined in. He said he felt embarrassed when Dallas did it “I felt my ears get hot” and he said himself that doing that to a girl “just doesn’t appeal to him”. Meaning he would likely not really participate in stuff like this, although he and Johnny did blow straw wrappers at waitresses and “eyed some of the things in the drugstore until the manager said it was best if they left”. He also said Johnny VERY hastily left when Dally started in. Pony said he himself might’ve “even helped old Dallas had they been greasy girls”.

Another thing was Two Bit-Pony said Two tended to be forgetful (at least with Johnny and his being jumped by the Socs because he came down and roughed both Johnny and Pony up by pretending to be a Soc and merely ruffled Johnny’s hair and told him he forgot. It’s also hard to tell when Two is sober or not because he acts the same regardless. Also Johnny being sassy “Aw cut it out! They asked us to come up here an’ protect them from wisecrackin’ greasers like you!” and Pony saying it “wasn’t often Johnny got sassy, the gang thought they were doing good if they got him to talk at all”. Also Marcia being like “I’m a night” and Two just being “you dig real good baby” ugh-love that.

who do you think in the gang is most likely to get jumped by socs when alone and least likely to? Personally I feel like Soda and Darry aren’t targeted as frequently since they’re out of school and work full time, more like an out of sight out of mind for the socs but i’d love to hear your opinion

Well I feel like you’re right for Darry…I mean dude’s 6’2’’ and a pure tank, i don’t think anyone would want to test him lol-but I think Dally’s fair too. He seeks out fights and the Socs know that he’ll absolutely kick their asses because he fights for fun. I think Soda and Pony are fairly off the table since their brother is Darry and they know messing with either of his brothers is also messing with Darry…..but between the two I feel like Soda is less likely than Pony simply because Pony is younger and smaller. But they also know they’ll have the whole gang on them. I kinda feel like Two-Bit is fairly likely lot get jumped. I know he got jumped in the book after Pony ran away and in the musical he gets jumped when Bev puts her cigarette out on him. But most likely to get jumped is 1000% Johnny. I mean that was the whole thing in the beginning of the book, he’d gotten jumped so bad that he got scars and whatnot. But after that I feel like he’d actually put up a fight.

So I guess the order would be from least likely to most likely

well i mean SINCE YOURE ASKING……..

okay so i kinda feel like this is an exclusively curtis thing…..mrs curtis was very very every nature oriented. i headcanon she had a very rough pregnancy with darry and as a result of her being in nature so much and always giving back, the nature spirits decided to help her out…but it came with a price. whenever each boy reached thirteen years of age he would transform into a giant red panda.

i headcanon darry and soda were forced to get rid of theirs just like mei mei’s relatives because they were seen as “dangerous” and whatnot…but by the time pony was thirteen his parents died before he could have his ritual to keep his panda contained. so he kept it…and darry was a lot like the mom in that case. he made pony keep himself contained and he always told pony not to let his panda out “stay secret stay hidden stay safe” was his motto (not stolen from wings of fire)) but of course pony knew it was a part of him and he had a hard time coping with it (kinda doubling as him with his status as a greaser…he hates it but he wouldn’t have it any other way) so johnny, dallas and two bit help him “huddle his panda” for money. and they wanna make sure darry does find out

eventually it’s the day pony is supposed to get rid of his panda but he just can’t and that’s when daddy’s own panda breaks loose…and in the movie remember how big mei’s mom’s panda was? yeah, darry’s was just as big. all the pent up emotions and stuff contributed to it and he was jsut absolutely huge. and the two fought it out but they of course make up in the end and they all decide to keep their pandas and not hide themselves away

it’s either curtis exclusive or if it’s gang exclusive because imagine red panda johnny oh my gosh-but anyway that’s what i’ve got 😭😭 i have soooo many aus i wanna rant about but not enoug time 😔

Y’all already KNO Darry is great at skating,, like he’s speeding around doin them fancy steps and whatnot

Soda is also pretty good at skating because Dar taught him how 

(he’s not as good as Dar but that’s ok)

It frustrated the hell out of Steve that Soda is better at skating than him bc Steve is real competitive

Steve keeps trying to ZOOM but he keeps falling (he always gets back up tho)

Soda is probably busy teaching Pony and Johnny how to skate cuz they never learned how

Johnny suprisingly picks it up pretty fast

Pony on the other hand takes a while to get the hand of it

Meanwhile Dallas is slowly going around the rink, acting like he doesn’t give a shit

But in reality he’s so fucking close to falling over and he’s going super slow so he doesn’t 

Two Bit def makes fun of Dal and Dallas is just like “fuck off”

Two isn’t super great at skating either he’s rly more there to bop to the music, limbo, and have a good time

Every time Two falls he just laughs at himself and gets back up

Sure! For some reason I know a lot about hearing loss like causes, treatments, deaf community, and anatomy.  Dk why tho I don’t have any deaf family members or anything like that anyways thanks for the request

You lost your hearing in a pretty bad car accident, your car flipped several times and there were no airbags in your car

You had skull fractures on both sides of your head and your inner ear was damaged, ultimately causing major hearing loss

The whole gang showed up to the hospital when Darry was called and told that you were in an accident

They waited for h o u r s while you were in surgery

Soda was so scared he was crying, so was Ponyboy

Everyone was very quiet ;(

When the doctor came out he explained that you had survived the surgery but he wasn’t sure about the extent of your hearing loss

He also said “family only” when the whole gang wanted to come see you but Darry insisted that everyone could come

They were all really shocked when they saw you, your face and arms were all cut up from your windshield shattering and you had bruises all over your face

It took you a while to wake up, and when you did initially you started panicking

You were woozy from the meds, hurting, and tired, but most importantly you could barely hear anything

Darry rushed up to you first, he held your hand and was saying comforting things to you, but you couldn’t hear anything he was saying

You looked around the room and saw the whole gang, you registered that their mouths were moving but you couldn’t hear the words they were saying

When Soda saw your panicked/confused look he went up next yo you and mouthed “can you hear me?” 

You squinted at him before shaking your head no

You tried to look around for the gang’s reactions; but they were all silent

Even after you were discharged it took you a long time to recover

You didn’t want to drive anywhere by yourself so Darry and Soda drove you anywhere you wanted to go

Darry, Soda, and Pony all took sign language classes with you, and naturally the gang picked up a few things

Steve actually learned a lot of sign language (maybe bc he just likes learning new skills) he learned solely from watching you and Soda communicate

You eventually learned to read lips, but sometimes you read things wrong

Even then the gang was v supportive of you

When you got something wrong, Two Bit would tap your shoulder and repeat the sentence for you so you could understand

Johnny had to work on looking at you while talking so you could see his lips instead of looking at the ground and whatnot

The gang triEs to speak one at a time when your around, but obviously that doesn’t always happen

You were so glad you had your brothers and the gang when you lost your hearing, because you couldn’t have recovered as well as you did without them ;)

And thank you so much!• I know this is the most obvious thing but Darry would be sO protective just in general• soda would too• although soda is really kind and sweet he would not hesitate beating up anyone who thinks about doing anything to you that you don't allow• ponyboy would probably not be too upfront about his protectiveness (since he's the little brother), but he would always be worried about you• when you started dating Johnny it was the biggest sigh of relief from Darry• he knew Johnny would treat you right and he had known Johnny forever• Steve would always mess around with you since you were sodapop's little sister but it was nothing compared to what he did to pony• Steve actually enjoyed your company, and occasionally liked when ponyboy was around• whenever you and Johnny were holding hands in front of the gang they would would always playfully make fun of it but they loved you two together• two bit always would put his arms around the both of you and pretend he was the third party in the relationship and Johnny would be like "yeah, whatever, two bit, you're funny" but Johnny was so happy he was supportive :))))• Dally would've always like you since you were a curtis sister (alothough he barely showed it), and he was pretty supportive of you and johnny's relationship• he would always be eyeing y'all when you were talking or holding hands, making sure you were being alright to each other• he was just as protective of you as he was of Johnny• whenever Johnny picked you up for dates and whatnot, the boys would always welcome him inside the house while you were still getting ready and they would wisecrack and playfully complain about how long you took to get ready• in the early stages though there would be serious talks about what to do and what not to do when on a date with you• even though they loved Johnny, Darry, sodapop, and ponyboy always reminded Johnny that they were still your brothers• when you finally went to greet Johnny his eyes would get so big every single time he saw you, no matter what you looked like, and the boys would hide a chuckle, but literally could see the love flowing right out of him• whenever you were around the boys would be like "what do you and y/n got planned for tonight?"• tbh I think they would be genuinely interested in the relationship• Dally would always let Johnny know he was proud of him for asking you out in the first place, and for all the little milestones after that!!• "johnnycake, I'm proud of you. It takes a lot of courage, you know that?"• Johnny would BEAM and tell you all about it later when he got super comfortable with you• being a curtis sister and dating Johnny is such a perfect scenario tbh like it just suit everyone so well and it would be the most beautiful thing ever :)
