I was watching @randomalistic YouTube videos about Wreck-it-Ralph as background noise so I can draw happily, and some of her statements and more specifically the quote “he is (yet again) weaponizing Vanellope’s glitch to make her appear weak and. Helpless…. He’ll either use her condition as a reason to pity her or a reason to attack her”, and as on screen text in the latter video “more importantly “to protect her””.

And I was also watching Hiding in Private’s video “the point of Steven Universe || season 1” and pointing out how much the gems in season 1 would often coddle, infantile, and never seem to validate or have faith in him whenever he says things.

Did I mention that I was listening to their video while drawing something for my Blue Diamond/Badguys AU? I knew I had to use some of Rando’s words in my AU, so I made it the relationship between Blue Diamond and the rest of her fellow diamonds, I like to think that it’s similar to the abuse the canon Diamonds did to pink, but also different.

I know this will recon and contradict about how the Diamonds treats Blue in her deviantart bio and design reveal page, but please stick with me, and I promise to explain the recon to the Deviantart page later(either by updating Blue’s bio or making an different post).

I know that in the canon timeline, all four Diamonds were created at the same time, with maybe a few seconds or minutes between each other, so that Pink can ‘remain the littlest and youngest Diamond’ but thanks to @amaryllidae’s timeline for his Diamond Pearls AU that Iridescent Diamond(canon Pearl) was made much later than the other Diamonds, I’m going to be using it as reference.

The first three diamonds were born at least a couple thousands years before Blue, with Yellow still being the oldest, but after thousands of years after they realized that, while they had thousands if not millions of gems that worships the ground they stand on and wanted to please them, the gems don’t exactly need the diamonds all the times, and have jobs that require them to be away from even homeworld time to time, and no gem had the role to be needed the Diamonds to be cared for, that would go against homeworld caste system, and no, to them Pearls didn’t count, pearls were made to cater them, not the other way around. The three realized that they wanted someone who needed them personally, that was actually dependent on them both physically and mentally, someone to comfort, and to comfort back. They made Blue Diamond.

She was most definitely smaller than them, empathetic, compassionate, perhaps a little melancholy, emotional, prone to tears, and was even created as a healer!

The Three took her in, and ingrained her in the Great Diamond Authority… but she wasn’t their equal, not by a long shot. They would endlessly coddle, smother, and infantilize Blue, did everything they could to make her weaker than them, fully believe that Blue is hopelessly dependent upon them for everything, and they likes it that way, especially Pink Diamond, as she fancies herself the closest to Blue and as the littlest Diamond’s Living Emotional Crutch, Blue was Pink’s little cute plaything. To White, Blue was her emotional punching bag whenever she was in a bad mood, or if something didn’t go her way, and regardless if it was genuinely Blue’s fault or not didn’t matter, White would often take all of her anger and frustration onto Blue, by yelling and ranting to her face(often very loudly and in an verbally and emotionally abusive way) and expecting Blue to comfort and sooth her afterwards.

Yellow and Blue have a very complicated relationship. Yellow sees all emotions and feelings as weaknesses, but as we know from canon “she’s so strong But so weak when it comes to Blue” often using Blue’s emotions as a way to reason to pity her or a reason to be upset with her, but never punish her as one commenter from the channel BlooZstella puts it:

She’s just as guilty of babying and sheltering Blue as the other diamonds, and keep her weaker and dependent of them, but as said before

She’s so weak when it comes to Blue, but Blue can’t know that.

She did give the smaller blue gem some responsibility she she asked, by making her a mime to entertain the other diamonds and throw balls for celebrating achievements and accomplishments from the other diamonds.

She was now essentially a glorified mascot. None of the other Diamonds validate or respect her.

Remember how I keep mentioning that the other Diamonds would keep Blue weaker than them, they also make sure that water and other types of liquids were far away from Blue as much as possible because her powers and abilities were connected to water and controlling it, making her on par, or probably even more powerful, than the other Diamonds…. And they didn’t like the fact that she had a way of being independent of them and keep the substance as far away from her as possible. And if liquids were inevitable, only has enough to do small parlor tricks instead of powerful waves of destruction, after all, water can either be gentle waves, or a tsunami of destruction.

Blue already figured out that she had water wings as a ability, but she just kept it to herself and her Pearl since she didn’t want to know what the other Diamonds would do to her wings if they found out.

Yellow at one point took away Blue’s first Pearl, not because Blue Diamond accidentally damaged her Pearl(like what Pink did in canon) but because of their relationship, Blue and her Pearl weren’t like master and servant, they were best friend, close enough that Blue could rely on her instead of the Diamonds, and they didn’t want an DIAMOND to go away what they were supposed to do, so under the guise of “making her undiamond like” Yellow took her first Pearl away, rejuvenated her, and made her HER pearl, completely rewriting her to be the opposite of who she originally was.

Blue Pearl was now Yellow Diamond’s secretary.

(Both Blue Pearl and her rejuvenated self is inspired by Rose Cuarzo, with their own BD AU, which also inspired a lot of my own)

And oh how it worked, even with the new pearl(which coloring theme was coincidentally blacks and yellows) she was back to being emotionally dependent of them, crying on their shoulders, hopelessly dependent upon them, and talking to them instead of her Pearl. They did gave her something to make her feel better, away from homeworld, but still under their supervision, her own little lively and gorgeous garden with a beautiful, sea inspired palace to call a second home, and a brand new type of gem called a Spinel just for her. While this (kinda) worked at first, Blue started to resent this new Spinel and felt like she was forced to hang out and play with her. Surprise surprise, turns out that forcing two people to be friends or having family that choose your friends for you will cause tons of hidden resentment and frustration on both the friend and family. Okay Pink kinda caught on, but only gaslight her into continuing being with Spinel because “she was supposed to make her forget about her other Pearl by now”, “ teach her not to be so sensitive by making her deal with a overly sensitive gem” and that She changes her pearls all the time, she’ll get over it soon.

Pink also feigned empathy to Blue’s situation, claiming that she knows what’s it’s like to lose a Pearl and taking it replaced, but the difference is that; Blue had no choice about her Pearl being taken away, Pink treats throwing away her Pearl whenever she gets bored with her and getting an new one like it’s a Wednesday(in gems terms).

Blue wanted an colony because she wanted to proved that she was just as important as them, and that she was capable of spreading her watery wings, something that the diamonds(especially Pink) didn’t want, so after many, many, MANY years of asking, begging and pleading, Yellow gave her earth as her first colony, if only because she wanted to prove that Blue having a colony was doomed to fail.

Well, Yellow was right… somewhat, Blue couldn’t go through with the colony, because she fell in love with the planet, with its ocean, sea, north and South Pole for their ice and snow(which helped her figure out that she can also control them too), and the ever changing life it has, she even loves it’s food(guess it’s runs in the blue gem, like mother like daughter).

When she told the Diamonds that she wanted to spare the planet, they told that she was being emotional and hysterical, that she must finish what she started, and that she had no choice in the matter. And when she told them about the already existing life, they created the zoo, with her not being even bring allowed to interact with them. She was now a puppet queen.

Then she created Bluebell quartz, instilling her love of earth and change, creating the rebellion (with Blue secretly helping the rebels without anyone knowing)and finally faked her death, part because she genuinely wanted to live and stay on earth, and also because she realized that her relationship with the diamonds were toxic and took her chance to escape first chance she got.

For thousands of years, she stayed on earth, enjoying the sea, lakes, rivers, sea animals, honing her water manipulation skills, healing powers, water wings, eating the delicious food, exploring the planet, while keeping her distance from everyone else, basically living her best life before deciding to have a child, The three diamonds were missing her, but they miss her for selfish reasons, they miss their cute plaything, they miss the one person they made to dependent on them, with White especially missing her punching bag.(yes I actually wrote that) And Yellow becoming even more short-tempered and emotionally unstable as she shut herself away from everyone else beside her rejuvenated Pearl as a secretary and errand women, and made even stricter rules for everyone to follow, or fear the consequences of failing to follow.

You know, for someone who view emotions as a weakness, Yellow sure allows them control her actions and affect her judgment, no matter how many times she says otherwise.

In short, they loved and missed Blue, but they loved and missed her for selfish and entitled reasons, they doted and pampered her, perhaps infantilize her so she’ll be their adorable little accessory that they crafted for themselves that’ll dote and pampered them in return. They fully expects her to be helplessly reliant upon them; after all, they made her that way.

When they find out about Katherine, at first they treated her exactly like how they treated Blue(because they think that Katherine IS Blue) and even after realizing that; No, Katherine is not Blue Diamond, and Blue Diamond is gone forever, White and Pink will still try to make Katherine dependent on them, try to separate her from her best friends and family while Yellow has other plans………..

After all, Katherine only had Blue’s gem, if she can dispose of the human body and get the gem out…

Until the Rains Come

The following tale has been compiled as best as I could manage from every fragment I could identify within the various libraries of Ishiss (city and nation). I will readily admit the experience was both thrilling and immensely frustrating: Individual fragments have been well-known for quite some time already, but a number of minor yet notable contradictions prevented the rise of a true compendium, as leading figures I shall not be naming made mutually incompatible versions and declared theirs the most truthful, actively attacking others over assumed lack of veracity. I have done all I could to smooth over the contradictions and provide something closer to a definitive version, fully expecting to draw critique from the aforementioned figures for making such a claim. To them I would like to say: Go ahead. I have so much to tell you. The various fragments were delightfully well preserved despite dating to pre-Refuge times, thanks to the Ifchi’s sturdy paper-making techniques, but different interpretations of their contents only multiplied with time, obfuscating matters that should’ve been far simpler. If any further fragments show up beyond their Exit, I will be retrieving them personally this time.

Many a thread can be drawn between water and life. Both have been so tightly linked as to be synonymous throughout our existence; even those that thrive far from water will always need to carry some with them, and even the most sun-baked peoples must eventually return to it. But more importantly, more relevantly, many a thread can be drawn between water and Being[1] as a whole, not just for that which breathes and moves. As we and all others are shaped from water, Being is not just a state, but a fundamental part of all we know, the bottom-most building block. For all that lives, for the stone beneath our feet, for the air that surrounds us all, and even water itself. Even the emptiness beyond, the void that holds seemingly nothing, is in itself held up by Being; if it wasn’t, nothing could occupy it, for it would not be there at all[2].

The threads hardly end there. Much like water, Being is a limited thing. Just as water bodies of all kinds are surrounded by dry land and by empty air, made scarce in every direction, all Being is strung out in one body after another, hardly ever connected, held up by nothing, pressed down on by nothing, surrounded by nothing at all. True nothingness, that cannot be pushed aside so easily by anything that Is – not without intent, motivation, actual force that such masses of Being cannot usually muster by themselves. And just like water, Being can slowly fade into its surroundings, seemingly dissipating into nothing – except in this case, the nothing is very much literal. Being can slowly seep into the rest, too thin to hold or even be anything, too disperse to do anything more than exist. And just like murky pools in the mud, drying in the sun and steaming away into thin air, the thinner it’s strung, the quicker it can all fade away. Leaving nothing but vapors and cracking earth – or nothing at all, as the case may be.

But what of those that dwell in these pools? Are they to go quietly, dry out and die under the scour of these merciless surroundings? One of the big differences, the proper differences, is in the scale. With puddles strung across the mud, you hardly have much in them. At most, a few striders, a few dozen bogmites, anything beyond the hundred would be too small for the eye to see. Being, however? Even the tiniest drop, barely worth remarking on, could hold millions and millions like us, only vaguely aware the very foundation of their existence is vanishing with every passing year. You and I[3] are not even bogmites at such grand scales, and we are even more helpless in the face of such drying-up than they would be.

There are, however, those that aren’t us. And of them, there is one out there that we know is not helpless.

A curious entity, one that lives in nothingness yet needs Being to thrive. A wandering sort, never staying long in one spot, whether it Is or not. A creature of opposites, one that could only come to exist in the quagmire that occurs where existence and nonexistence meet. In this, and acknowledging its shape would be unclear to us all, I would compare it to a toad[4]. Skipping from pool to pool, diving and digging alike, sifting through the mud made by Being. And just big enough to change the very landscape around it, little by little, one shovel of its webbed limbs at a time.

And change the landscape it does. Just as a creature that is neither of earth alone, nor pure earth, would know best how to shape the places were both meet, this entity can shape its own quagmire with greater results than anything of singular nature. Neither[5] a creature of nothingness alone, Nor[5] one of Being like us, it alone can carve the grand, yet precise shapes it desires into the murky puddles that shape everything. And so it does, with every passing eon, seemingly dedicating all of its endless time to molding this swamp of existence to its own desires.

But what would such a creature desire? What manner of wants could a being so far beyond our comprehension even have, that we could understand? The answer is uncertain, but if I were to take the simplest guess, it would be: Preservation.

Preservation of what, you ask? Hard to answer. It could be its own life, keeping an environment it prefers, or perhaps there is something else to it. Perhaps it is aware of smaller beings like us. We only know what it does: When one of the pools of Being is running thin, when it seeps away into the nothingness, spreading into thin vapors unable to hold even the tiniest smidge of existence, this creature, this keeper of the quagmire, starts carving away the edges that keep it trapped in place, and lets all the Being held within flow freely, away in directions we could not perceive. What forces actually move these flows, we don’t know either, but we know exactly where it leads: To a greater pool.

For the comparison holds, as I said before: Greater masses of Being, much like greater bodies of water, do not dissipate nearly as quickly, and the deeper they go, the longer they can last. And the toad in charge will merge the unfortunate pools of existence into greater ones, forming ever greater bodies of Being dotting the nothingness beyond. Less of them, for sure, pooling their minuscule inhabitants together, forcing them to adapt, but perhaps it’s the price to pay in the face of oblivion – that is, if it even knows they’re there.

How long has it been doing so, one wonders? How many pools of Being have been merged, and come close to drying out again before having to be merged, again and again? Whole worlds blended into one, with their individual strings of history knotted into a singular rope, one by one? Is it perhaps doing this without aim, simply forming ever greater bodies, intervening only when they threaten to dry? Or is there a greater lake of Being somewhere deep, towards which it channels every last trace of existence so that it may last? Perhaps it’s the first of these answers that’s the most important of all. For it would determine the rest, wouldn’t it? If it’s been going long enough… all that’d be there would be scattered puddles, channeled through ever-greater distances into a grand, yet shallow lake, all that’s left of so many different masses of Being. Then again, it may not be so shallow, but the toad is never truly sated with its size. We simply do not know. All we can do is speculate…

And speculate we will. For however long this has been going on, the only thing we know is that it’ll continue. Perhaps until the end of time, when all dries up, even the biggest of all pools, and it’s forced to concede, roll over and die… But I wouldn’t think so. As I said, all Being that dissipates into the nothingness around it? It’s never truly gone. It’ll grow thick with existence, perhaps thick enough to start holding entities again, even if just the smallest of all. Perhaps Being shall coalesce, as the apparent end draws near, and the keeper of this quagmire has but the smallest puddle, the very last inches of a well, to itself…

Perhaps, just like the toads we know, all it needs to do is hold on until the rains come. And perhaps then, as the great string of puddles and pools is reformed, as the cracked earth of nothingness returns to a quagmire of its liking under the storm, it shall finally rest… While the rains last, at least.

[1]Direct translation from the word shurrif, which can double as noun (existence) and verb (to exist, to be), while acting as antonym to the word frush (nonexistent, not real). Every fragment insisted in using it as a noun, with context aiding the translation, and I have capitalized each proper use of the translated word for clarity’s sake. Hi I Don’t know if you have seen sun wukong in vs battle wiki in fandom and I was wondering how accurate you think his powers are the journey to the west

Battle wiki? Never heard of that that but I'll take a look.

Hmmm those are sure numbers and letts I'm not sure what they mean.

But I read each one and it looks like they have a good idea what they are listing! Esp enjoy there are so many references and explanations for each power. Have to say that a lot of these powers could be subjective depending on how people in modern times would try to define these powers to fit a proper power level.

You have to remember that Wukong is as powerful as the novel needs him to be within each arc and yes that is like anti-plot armor but with how strong Wukong is in the book, a lot of expectations and magic items are used on him as a means of counteracting how many powers he has. That all being said the powers he gains in the end could be limitless all things considering and depending on how a person interpts his powers could even lead to further interpretations of these powers as well.

This was a fun read! Maybe @journeytothewestresearch would know more about the details since he has measured Wukong's greatest feats but it looks fine with me.

Regeneration (Mid) - I would say this should be higher, he made himself a new head within a minute.

The lighting  thief

OH MY GOD!! What a banger of a book to start off a banger of a series. This and the rest of the books are middle grade so you gotta be aware of that when going into it. You could probably finish this book in two or three hours. But the actual Contant is so fun  and exciting. It does such a good job of describing characters and their personalities without giving you insight that would ruin later revelations. The world building in this is perfection. Theres no loopholes, it’s simple,clear, and incredibly engaging. The descriptions are detailed but not to the point where it’s boring. I literally could not think of a better way to start off the series. It is such a good book.

The sea of monsters

This book is funny, its action packed, it’s heartwarming, it’s filled with new characters, and very much a welcome addition to this book series.

After Percy’s adventure bringing peace to Olympus  and finding the lightning bolt and another year at another school he’s very excited to go back to camp. However, it’s immediately apparent that some thing is very very wrong. Someone has poisoned Thalia’s tree.  and to make matters go from bad to worse, Percy has a new brother, A cyclops named Tyson. This book follows Percy, Annabeth, and Grover, as they travel across the Sea of monsters to find the golden fleece that will save the camp.

The twist at the end is such a good set up for the next book, and could not have been more well done!

The Titans Curse

Literally loved The new characters in this book. I really enjoyed learning more about the hunters of Artemis, and the scene at the end with Zoe nightshade BROKE MY HEART!! Thalia is such a well written character and I so loved reading her in this book.

Percy Jackson received an urgent distress call from Grover, he prepares for Battle With Thalia and Annabeth and finds 2 half-bloods. Kronos prepared a trap for them, and they just fell right into it (quite literally in Annabeth’s Case). This entire book is revolved around finding Annabeth and artemis and  trying to escape the titans curse. It’s action packed and hilarious, a definite highlight of the series!

I really enjoyed the plot pacing in this one specially, i think that everything was very easy to follow (which i need in books). I enjoyed the jokes, i loved how unhinged percy jackson is, i loved the action, this was a joy to read!

 The battle of the labyrinth

This book is definitely more high stakes then the previous three and  tensions are definitely higher.  it’s the return of all of our favorite characters  with the same witty action packed  adventures we love.

With Percy’s track record at school he isn’t expecting high school orientation to be anywhere near peaceful. He’s proven right when demon cheerleaders, and a too smart mortal girl crash the party. But when he returns to camp he is greeted with much darker news: time is quickly running out as the war between The Olympians and Kronos  draws ever closer. Kronos prepares to attack Camp half-blood and in order to protect it, the gang must travel through the labyrinth, and find a way to hide the camp before it’s too late.

As much as I love this book, if somebody were to put a gun to my head and ask me what my least favorite book of Percy Jackson is, I’d probably say this one. Dont get me wrong, it’s a wonderfully well crafted story,It was fun to read, and wonderful set up to the final book. But in my opinion, it pales slightly to the others. I don’t know what it was about it,  but I just didn’t enjoy as much.

The Last Olympians

I said it once and I’ll say it 1 million times.

 if this book has 1 million fans, I’m a face in the crowd. if it has 100 fans im screaming at the top of my lungs. If it has one fan that fan is me. And if there’s no fans I’m dead. THIS IS THE BEST PERCY JACKSON BOOK!! (in my opinion)

Percy is trying to take a break from adventuring with his friend  Rachel (a mortal who sees through the mist) when Charles Beckendorf comes with a mission. They must destroy the Princess  Andromeda. The war gets closer and closer until there is an army on the edges if new york city. Percy, the entire camp, The hunter’s of Artemis, Grover and many nature spirits, along with lots of other friends. There is a plot twist at the end revealing the true  prophecy.

This book is so full of adventure and action and fighting. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t moments of real humanity and heart. It was a beautiful, fun, exciting, and all around well written book. I was in a state of anticipation the entire time and it was bery much like reading the end of a marvel Movie.

Also all his work has some little conceptions is like a little journey of his life. I remember when I was done a little journal about in my foundation year it’s a pretty similar. It’s like sharing a little journal. He’s also sharing his little journey and little adventures and journals just in a different way it’s not with a sketchbook is much more what he experienced is a periodic he was experienced His life.

In this exhibition I was not understanding the artist perspective or the colours could symbolise something or hidden codes like in the art psychology.

There were a couple of pictures of doctors. I had been sketched and sketched rooms, but so much mess all around the person's room. It’s all Tracy Emmon. It reminded me of Tracy presenting someone terrible; unfortunately, I don’t usually have time to read every piece. What is it about? Everything is about, but it’s interesting to know as I wanted to become an illustrator. I wanted to make my own story out of it with the expressions, or are they saying that’s why I usually go to The public areas and sketch on the Underground station? One Piece is without a doubt one of the most influential manga series and anime ever that takes place in a well-established and ever growing world of pirates and their conflicts with the World Government as they sail the seas to find the legendary treasure of the King of Pirates Gol D. Roger, The One Piece. Monkey D. Luffy is the protagonist and along with his crew: Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky, Brook and Jimbei they set sail to find the One Piece and stop anyone that gets in their way so Luffy can become King of the Pirates.

The manga series started in July of 1997, written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda and was published weekly in the Shonen Jump magazine like a lot of other popular manga series like Naruto. In the early 00’s One Piece, along with Naruto and Bleach were deemed the most popular manga series and fans across the world called them ‘The Big Three’. And as of now 516 million copies of the manga have been sold.

Almost 30 years later One Piece has still yet to come to its conclusion and still holds a massive fan base. The series spans over 1,100 chapters and 109 volumes.

In 1999 the manga was adapted into an anime series which is also still airing. Though the anime series has fans debating on the quality as the pacing of the show is incredibly slow and only covers 1 or 2 chapters per episode meaning it takes a while for the plot to develop. Things like these happen when the manga and the anime run at the same time, sometimes the anime catches up to the manga so they need to let the manga get ahead so they draw out the episodes or produce ‘filler episodes’ which are original episodes separate from the real plot. The One Piece anime has 1,119 episodes and over 100 are filler meaning 10% of the show is unnecessary to the plot but a lot of other shows are lot worse, most famously Boruto a spin-off from Naruto were 206 of the 293 episodes are fillers.

In response to the slow pacing of One Piece a website was made by fans called ‘One Pace’ which cuts down on a lot of drawn out sequences and flashbacks to things that happened the episode prior.

Weirdly, an official solution is happening because a separate animation studio, Wit Studio ,who adapted seasons 1-3 of Attack on Titan and Season 1 of Vinland Saga, are animating a reboot of One Piece called ‘The One Piece’ whilst the original ,by Toei Animation responsible for Dragon Ball, is still airing. So two separate anime’s of the the same source material will be running at the same time. They claim this reboot will take only five years to get to the Egghead Island Arc ,the portion of the story that the original is on, unlike the original’s 27 years.

There is also a live action adaptation of One Piece that is produced by Netflix and currently has 1 season but the second is in production. The live action series has 8 episodes each around an hour that covers the first 45 episodes of the anime so it’s an easy alternative if you want to watch One Piece but not commit to 1000+ episode show.

The One Piece world is fantastical, it has sea monsters, dragons, abilities you gain from eating fruit but a lot of the characters take inspiration from real life pirates and history. Blackbeard is a common antagonist of the series and as the real Blackbeard was called Edward Teach, in One Piece he is called Marshall D. Teach. Another important character is Whitebeard or Edward Newgate, he instead has Blackbeards real first name and his surname is that of Newgate Prison which held many pirates in London.

Me myself am a fan of One Piece and started the series during the Covid-19 lockdown and though at the time it had 800 something episodes I was able to catch up and that’s when I realised the poor pacing people talked about. I was able to watch hundreds of 20 minute episodes back to back for hours but when I caught up and I had to watch one 20 minute episode once a week it was a struggle when not a lot happened and then I had to wait another week for another episode for the same thing to happen so I often stop watching for a while and just let the episodes bulk up so I can binge or watch a couple every day until I catch up again.

Overall, One Piece is a great piece of media that’s going strong even after almost 30 years, it’s fun and light hearted, the characters have goals that they all strive for, the fights are entertaining, has plenty of mystery and when it needs to delves more into mature topics like corrupt governments and gender identity.

Pack 1, pick 1, Mardu Ascendancy over Heir of the Wilds. Have to admit this was a yolo pick. Pick 2, Raiders' Spoils? Let's draft every red 2 drop and see what happens...pick 3 War-Name Aspirant over Mardu Hordechief. Pick 4, I stared down that Goblinslide, but it's a non-bo with Mardu Ascendancy, so Mardu Skullhunter it is! Pick 5 Ride Down, oh baby, let's chump attack with Mardu Ascendancy and Raider's Spoils! Pick 6 Monastery Swiftspear, yes please. Can we speedrun a draft??

Pack 2, pick 1, Sagu Mauler staring me down, but Seeker of the Way is excellent. Pick 2 Scoured Barrens over Mardu Skullhunter and Feat of Resistance. I'm feeling like Red/white splash for Raiders' Spoils and Mardu Ascendancy is what I want to be doing, and I noticed there were no lands in pack 1, so I figured I needed to jump on them when I saw them. Pick 3 brrrrrrick Swiftwater Cliffs. Pick 4 Horde Ambusher, back on target. Pick 5 and pick 6 Unyielding Krumar. Pick 7 Mardu Hateblade over Valley Dasher, which I think was wrong. Pick 8 Mardu Warshrieker, which I think will be important fixing.

Skip ahead to the deck, I *loved* this deck. Not thrilled about the Mardu Hateblades off the splash, and looking at it now I should have just played the Leaping Masters. Having two Ride Down really makes the Valley Dashers awesome. My mana isn't great, but I had to make concessions to play Mardu Ascendancy.

My first loss was to turn 2 Secret Plans, and, holy shit, that +0/+1 made it *really* hard to attack. They then had Avalanche Tusker, which I was lining up Mardu Blazebringer, but they had Roar of Challenge, which is extra brutal because Blazebringer just dies after blocks anyway, so they essentially had 10 damage to divide across my team who couldn't attack into 2/3 morphs, soooo... Yeah. Crushing defeat.

My second loss was to a mirror. They were on the play and had better cards. I managed to get the board clear, so we're at topdecks. We both traded land drops for 3 turns, and they drew Crater's Claws for 6.

My third loss was a mulligan to a weak six. I drew both Mardu Hateblades and no swamps. So we both built up mediocre armies until my opponent played Sultai Flayer. How do I ever beat *that* card in a million years? 4 life is *so much life* and they have *three* x/4s...

I've said before, it's hard to be disappointed at a 5-3 result. I see where drawing the bad half of my deck leads to Ls, but my wins were so disgustingly fast and brutal that I got lured into thinking this is an the easy trophy. But yeah, 5-3, good result!

Where is the future for Felix?

You walked down the rocky path as you walked to the village. The sun was starting to set and you knew that the demons would be out by the time you got there.

The village wasn't that far, it was only 1-2 hours away from your estate and you enjoyed the nice long walk.

You've been a demon slayer for more than 5 years now. Being in the corps since you were 14. You never would've imagined a great future for yourself when you were young. You always thought you would serve in the corps til the day you die.

But look at you now

You are engaged. You are about to marry the love of your life in less than 2 months and you will retire as a hashira after serving for nearly 5 years.

You wanted to complete one last mission before your retirement. So when Kagaya said that there was a local village not so far by your estate that has been getting terrorized by demons for the past 2 weeks, you didn't hesitate to say that you would check it out.

Which brings you here.

You noticed that it was pretty quiet. Too quiet for a village that has been getting disturbed by demons almost everyday.

You walked around as you saw only a few people walking around heading home. Giving them a small smile and a nod, they felt relieved to see a member of the demon slayer corps-especially a hashira, walking around their village.

You continued to walk until you heard a blood curdling scream. With quick speed, you ran to where you heard the scream and stopped dead in your tracks to see a woman shaking in fear as a man grips her by her hair.

You didn't know why but something about this man made you uneasy.

"P-please…let me go!" You could hear the fear in the woman's voice as she pleaded for him to let her go.

The man seems to ignore her pleas and his hold on her hair seems to get even stronger.

That was enough for you to step in.

"Hey!"

The sudden yell was enough to catch the man's attention. Soon red eyes met yours and you felt a sudden change in the air.

The man only stared. You both stared each other down as the women only shook in fear.

He then let go of the woman's hair and she quickly stood up before running away but not before thanking you. You only nod before looking back at the man.

He was quiet. Only just staring you down which you found a little weird. You watched closely, getting ready incase he attacks. But as you stared at him more, you come to the sudden realization of who this man truly is.

"Muzan" you whispered. A small smirk creeps up on his face as you say his name. You draw out your sword and get into position.

Never in a million years did you think you would ever encounter the demon king. Especially on your last mission before retirement.

"A demon slayer. How interesting"

"Never would've thought I would encounter the demon king himself. How interesting" He scowled.

Muzan wasn't expecting to fight anyone tonight. But since you are here, he wouldn't mind killing someone tonight.

You knew that you would probably not make it out alive if you fought him. This is muzan himself. The king of all demons. You would probably need 10 or even more hashira to fight him.

You took a deep breath in, you focused your eyes on him and watched him closely. Muzan stared closely at you. He knew that you knew that you would probably not make out of this fight alive, but as a slayer, you would fight to the death to stop him from creating more demons.

You close your eyes and the image of your lovely wife, mitsuri, flashes through your head.

"I love you my love"

And you attack

Mitsuri smiles as she looks down at the lovely ring that adores her finger.

"Isn't it beautiful kyo?" She says as she shows her dear friend the ring.

"It is a really lovely ring! Y/n has a fine taste in jewelry I see!"

Mitsuri giggles as she then blushes at the thought of you. In 2 months, she would be married to you and in 2 months you two would soon start a new chapter in both of your guys lives.

Mitsuri was also planning on retiring as a hashira with you. She has been in the corps for 3 years now and she didn't want to worry you if she continued to be a hashira.

"Oh I can't wait for our wedding! I just know it's going to be beautiful and amazing!"

Kyojuro just smiles as he continues to hear mitsuri talk about the wedding. He is very happy to see that mitsuri has someone good in her life.

"And the food will definitely be tasty!"

"Y/n parents are excellent cooks! I can't wait to try the food!" They both continued to happily talk without knowing what tomorrow's event would bring.

It was morning.

The slightly cold wind made mitsuri shiver a bit as she excitedly waited for your arrival.

Today you were going to come back after your mission. Mitsuri couldn't wait to see you again!

Yeah you were gone for only a day but mitsuri still missed you.

She waited patiently by the entrance to her mansion for your arrival. She didn't know why, but she suddenly got a strange gut feeling. But she shook it off, thinking that it was probably nothing.

As she waited, she saw someone walking from a distance. She grew excited thinking it was you but as the person got closer she saw that it was no other than shinobu.

“Oh shinobu! What brings you here?”

“I just wanted to stop by and see if you are ok”

“Huh? If I’m ok? But I’m fine! You see y/n is supposed to come today so I’m here waiting for her!” Mitsuri didn’t notice the slightly surprised and sad look on Shinobu's face as she excitedly told her about what she had planned out for your arrival.

“Oh Mitsuri-“

“It’s y/n crow!” She happily points out. But soon, the happy and bubbly smile wiped out her face when she noticed that your crow came alone.

“CAW CAW Y/N L/N IS DEAD! Y/N HAS DIED AFTER ENCOUNTERING MUZAN!!”

Mitsuri's heart dropped once she heard what your crow had said. She could feel tears starting to fall as she began sobbing right then and there.

“N-no! This can’t be! Y/n can’t be dead! no no no!”

Shinobu tried to comfort Mitsuri as she continued to sob her heart out. The poor girl was indeed heartbroken after receiving such terrible news, especially news about her fiancée, her love, her future wife.

“I-I should’ve gone with her! I should’ve gone with her and this could all have been avoided!” She says as she continues to cry out even more. Shinobu just gently caresses her back as she lets her continue.

“Why…why out of all demons did she have to encounter muzan..”

Shinobu doesn’t say anything and just sits there in silence. But then she breaks the silence once Mitsuri has quieted down a bit.

“Mitsuri”

“Mm?” She hums as tears still continue to slide down her cheeks.

“Y/n told me…that if anything like this were to happened, then she wants you to keep this” mitsuri looks to see shinobu pull out your sword.

“T-this is-“

“Y/n sword” shinobu smiles as she hands mitsuri your sword.

“She wants you to keep it”

Mitsuri gently holds your sword as she hugs it close to her chest. This was the only thing she had left of you.

“I’ll defeat muzan! I’ll make him pay for what he has done to my love!”

Shinobu just stays quiet as Mitsuri tightly holds your sword closer to her.

She will defeat muzan. Even if it takes her life.

She will get revenge for her beloved.

and maybe too arceus is like holding back cuz a part of him feels guilty he never helped necrozma or by the time he went back to check on things necrozma was already badly wounded/lost all his light and- ye. couldnt help him in time-

I feel as though this is the same anon and they're throwing a fit over you two not being flattered by their "concern."

Fiction doesn't affect reality 1:1 like these people think it does. People writing fan fiction or drawing fan art or whatever does not in any way have the same amount of influence as a Hollywood level production or mainstream TV, even if it has thousands or millions of views. Even if it did, a piece of media can't alter someone's morals that severely.

Let's use murder as an example. Murder is obviously very illegal in real life and is seen as a bad act, rightfully, but that doesn't stop people from portraying murderers in fiction, from slashers to super villains. If we were going by Anti logic, they're basically saying that any portrayal of a murderer in fiction will convince audience members to want to murder as well.

It's such a ridiculous argument and so easy to poke holes into. It reminds me of those right wing conservative types who used to cry about video games making people violent when there's no link between the two.

And then you bring up research papers or quotes from psychiatrists who have studied and worked in their fields for years who actively talk about how taboo topics explored in a healthy way is beneficial, because whether you experience trauma or not, humans are just naturally curious about a lot of things or how people who work to catch Predators come out and have to beg people to stop sending fiction in as if it's CP because it clogs the system and takes resources away from actual children and Antis just pretend like they don't hear it.

Look, it's perfectly fine to be uncomfortable with certain media. I personally don't like incest fics or anything with mommy/daddy kinks, it really squicks me out, but I'm an adult who is responsible for moderating my online experience, so I just filter tags and block people if it really becomes a problem. Never once in my life have I felt the need to attack someone for the content they make just because it makes me personally uncomfortable,

But yes, all this absolutely. It’s okay to not like something, it’s okay to cater your own space so it’s nowhere near you, it’s okay to ask people not to talk about these things to you because it makes you feel uncomfortable and expect those wishes to be respected.

What’s not okay is going after random people who have nothing to do with you and demand that they change what they like to suit your needs. Especially when your actions proceed to cause more damage than fix it.

“Says the one in Hollywood starring in a biopic about her boyfriend’s nemesis. Unrelated question, but what are you wearing right now?” he asked, pulling his clothes over his damp outfit.

“Artfully arranged scraps of lace. You?”

“I am shirtless. Wearing the tightest leather pants you can imagine,” he whispered in his best sultry voice, as he attempted to balance his groceries with one arm and searched for his keys with the other. “Also, I’m soaking wet. Remember that time I showed up on your doorstep after that storm last year? Shirtless, soaking wet and shivering—”

MJ giggled. “As much as I’d like to see where this is heading, I’ve got dinner reservations with the rest of the cast in an hour, and I need to get dressed.”

“Ugh, I miss you so much.”

“Never change, tiger. Love you a million.”

i think they were going for iroh finally deciding to stop being subservient to the fire nation in the siege of the north, when zhao tries to, yknow, kill the moon, and then him finally deciding to actively fight against the fire nation when he broke out of prison, thinking zuko "lost his way" in book 3. then him retaking ba sing se was supposed to be his ultimate redeeming moment. however, this doesn't work well if this was what they were going for, because of course doing "one good thing" doesn't automatically redeem him, especially when he doesn't decide to do anything after the war other than profit from the people he once tried to conquer via his tea shop. it could also support him not having compassion for those he doesn't see, as i believe ultranos made a post about how his violent retaking of ba sing se could affect the people more directly and negatively than azula's coup did. thoughts?

So I don't see Iroh's actions in "The Siege of the North" being anything other than trying to stop Zhao from screwing absolutely everyone in the world over. Iroh has not decided to take a general stand against the Fire Nation there. Definitely, afterwards he goes back to hanging out and engaging in hedonism at a Fire Nation resort, and he only becomes a fugitive because of Ozai's orders. Even then, Iroh's reaction is to try to run and hide and live a life as a teashop owner rather than draw on his considerable resources to fight back. This decision to hide persists for the rest of Book 2.

When Azula begins her conquest of Ba Sing Se, Iroh seems to come to some sort of decision that he has to fight back against the Fire Nation, something he sticks to the rest of the series. Honestly, him helping Aang and Katara escape in "The Crossroads of Destiny" is his finest moment in the series.

Yet after that he regresses. He tries to point Zuko in the right direction, but implicit in what he tells Zuko is that Zuko should be the one to teach firebending to Aang and be the one to lead the Fire Nation into a new era, even though Iroh would be better suited for both these tasks. And it only gets worse from here.

You see, Iroh's big contribution toward "saving the world" is gathering the White Lotus to retake Ba Sing Se. On a surface level, that's a very reasonable objective(although the invention of airships probably greatly decreases Ba Sing Se's defensive value). But then Zuko and the Gaang show up, inform him of Ozai's plans, and beg for Iroh's help. At that point, there are several extremely critical military objectives which much be accomplished(in order of importance):

1. Stopping the Fire Nation airship fleet from killing millions of people

2. Defeating the Firelord

3. Defeating Azula and carrying out a coup in the Fire Nation.

All these objectives need to be accomplished in order to win the war. Failing to accomplish any one of them would result in pyrrhic victory at best. All of these objectives all more important than taking Ba Sing Se, and taking Ba Sing Se is pointless if you win the war through accomplishing all three. Iroh has access to five of the most powerful fighters in the world, so he has ample strength to throw behind any of these.

Yet he chooses to prioritize the conquest of Ba Sing Se beyond all reason. He lets Aang face Ozai alone, something which nearly results in Aang's death. He lets Sokka, Suki, and Toph take responsibility for stopping the airship fleet, even though only one of them is a bender, even though they could easily have failed, and Sokka and Toph nearly die as a result. Most importantly, Iroh sends Zuko and Katara into the lion's den alone, something which almost certainly would have resulted in Zuko and Katara being killed or captured by Azula, the imperial firebenders, and the Dai Li if Azula hadn't had her breakdown(and even breakdown Azula comes very close to defeating both of them). Why does Iroh act like?

Iroh: Sozin's Comet is arriving and our destinies are upon us. Aang will face the Fire Lord. (Cut to a close up of Iroh) When I was a boy, I had a vision that I would one day take Ba Sing Se. (Camera pans across the various members of the Gaang) Only now do I see that my destiny is to take it back from the Fire Nation so the Earth Kingdom can be free again.

Iroh: Goodbye, everyone. (Cut to a frontal shot of Iroh looking up at his nephew) Today, (he closes his eyes and lowers his head) destiny is our friend. (he opens his eyes and looks back up again) I know it.

It looks suspiciously like the "liberation" of Ba Sing Se is an ego trip primarily done to "fulfill" Iroh's "Destiny." Taking Ba Sing Se also allows Iroh and the White Lotus to ensure that King Kuai is restored to power, because I can't imagine anyone in the Earth Kingdom and Ba Sing Se actually wanting him back unless he was forcibly imposed from above.

Now, we turn to the question of damage to Ba Sing Se. This raises the question of why the White Lotus attacked Ba Sing Se during Sozin's Comet? The Fire Nation troops they are fighting are strongest then, and the uncontrolled and power-boasted firebending they wielded likely resulted in a lot of collateral damage. Well, I would say that we also get an explanation for that:

Iroh: Only once every hundred years can a firebender experience this kind of power.

So it's another part of Iroh's ego trip, allowing him to experience the exhilaration of fighting while Sozin's Comet boasts his power and allowing him to take the majority of the credit(and if you wonder why the other members of the White Lotus are OK with this, remember that three of the five known members are deeply questionable in their own ways).

Ultimately, the White Lotus's pointless "liberation" of Ba Sing Se likely resulted in widespread destruction in the city. "Dragon of the West" Iroh joked about burning Ba Sing Se to the ground; "redeemed" Iroh's ego trip to "liberate" the city during Sozin's Comet probably resulted in large portions of Ba Sing Se burning to the ground.

So, I don't think Iroh's "one good act" was actually that good an act. This was not the intention of the writers, but the way they wrote Iroh behaving contains so many disturbing implications, and this is probably true in "Sozin's Comet" more than anywhere else.

Edit: I didn’t make this clear, but I’m sure Iroh rationalized his actions as being the “right thing to do” and the “the only possible course of action.” He’s very good a rationalizing his failures and flaws.

Fun fact: Friedrich Paulus actually ended up defecting to the Allied cause after being captured at Stalingrad. In terms of German World War II generals, he seems to have his hands relatively clean and as far as I know was never accused of war crimes. Yet I don't see taking over managing a tea shop in the city he destroyed after the war.
