feel like we don't talk enough about the fact that shen qingqiu was fully prepared to die in the invasion of cang qiong to save his disciples, and not just in terms of without-a-cure. when he challenged sha hualing to a palm strike, he expected to die, his exact thoughts were "with this one strike, he'd ensure there were no winners", and he went in expecting his body to self destruct before liu qingge showed up.

it's such an important piece of characterization because shen yuan is often ranting in his head about "surviving at any cost" and "cheating his way out of it", but when he's actually faced with any kind of danger, his very first reaction is to protect the people around him with his life, without hesitation.

I love how they set taub’s biggest issue up to be the fact that he cheats on his wife. like that’s the only thing wrong with him really. and everybody dunks on him for it. meanwhile wilson has been causally dropping the fact that he’s a serial philanderer since season 1 and nobody bats an eye because there’s just so much else to unpack that it might be the most normal aspect of his personality

i feel like my life is falling apart and then my friend makes tiramisu and gives me some and asks if i wanna come to the little gathering on wednesday i feel alone in the world and then another friend asks if i want anything i feel unloveable and then we gather in my room with candles and blankets to watch a film all together until midnight it all becomes so much warmer w friends

#i feel like it'll all be nothing and then over a call he says his friends are proud of me. it all feels too messy to fix and she says she #believes in me . theres a layer of seperation between everything and then she puts her hands through mine. we listen to music together #they drag me to the gym. he carries my bag when the groceries are too heavy. she says she has a special ringtone #for when i call her so she knows to answer. and she asks me for advice and tells me about the girl hes seeing and #were about to put a coffee table in the living room i ask if they want tea #we need to buy more throw pillows and blankets. the mattress we have for guests is used often #sometimes i get tunnel vision but i have reasons to be happy #and im rly grateful #i was in bed today feeling so horribly guilty about having to take an extention and my professor sent an email hoping that i was and to tell #him when i feel better etc. and said hed send a recording of the lecture for me . it like #moved me so much that i started remembering all the lovely thibgs #anyway i havent slept #im grateful for the extension but i alrdy pulled the all nighter djdh ok lecture at 4pm we can sleep until like...2pm

I flew back home after spending the week with my family, my wife and bestie had saved my birthday presents for when I came back, and I want to show off what they got me ♡

She got me an illustrated version of Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera! It's SO beautiful, the illustrations at the end of the book made me begin to cry! (If i have to cry, so do yall)

She also got me earrings with beads from the broadway chandelier! The earrings are very pretty, I'll have to find something nice to wear them with

And my bestie got me the collector's edition of Phantom of the Paradise! I'm so happy I don't have to rent the movie anymore hehe (the subtitles are completely wrong and I'm sad about it but at least i have the movie)

#i had an AWFUL morning at the airport tho #i was having horrible anxiety in that massive airport and then they moved me to a different flight and I was there for like 5 hours #after only getting like 3 hours of sleep #its okay i slept on the plane #glad to be back home though #but now im just super tired #im glad i dont have to go back to work until tuesday #gonna watch phantom of the paradise a billion more times eee

as someone who normally reads a script over on the tv writing site every day while eating breakfast like it's the morning paper, but who didn't have time today because i'm trying to meet a deadline on my own script that i've been slow to work on due to an assortment of fire related stress as a resident of los angeles this week........ i am experiencing some severe fomo over these new spn script drops

#waaaaaa i want to read them now ;-;#but i'd have to speed read to get through a whole one while i pause work for lunch #and i prefer to take my time #also i don't think i'm allowed to call myself an angeleno yet #i've been living here five years and i think i have to hit a decade before that's allowed #hence using the awkward descriptor of ''resident of los angeles''#also if anyone is worried -- we're in a little pocket of the county that has remained safe thus far #so we're fine though we've had go-bags ready all week just in case #but i know multiple people who've lost their homes #thankfully they all evacuated in time but the loss is devastating #and i've been glued to the watch duty app any time i haven't been writing (read: attempting to write)#constantly checking against google maps whenever it looked like something was getting close to people i know #it's genuinely horrible and i don't think anyone here has slept much this week #one thing we *are* dealing with directly at our place is the hazardous air quality. it smells absolutely toxic & is full of ash #enough that it looks like flurries of snow in the air #luckily i never stopped masking so wear an n95 whenever i've had to go outside #cass says things
