Lends clothes, borrows clothes: hawks doesn't really have his own clothesss I think the commission definitely controls everything all the way down to what he wears. The most he has is sleep clothes, but he usually only ever wears his hero uniform. either way all of his clothes have holes in the back of them, so dabi isnt particularly fond of wearing his shirts LOL. maybe he'll steal a pants or two but other than that yeah dabi don't wear his clothes. i’m so sick and tired of seeing the harry slander all over my feed. all over twitter and tiktok, people are blaming harry for one direction splitting up, calling him a “mean girl” and “standoffish” bc for the first time in his career he implemented boundaries, calling him arrogant bc you don’t see him interact w the boys publicly and overall just mocking him, like it is absolutely vile the way people treat him. harry deserves so much better. he is such a kind and amazing person. the worst part is when harry nicely says “can we not” to fans they make it into a meme when all he’s asking for is for people to show him basic human decency. the lack of respect fans have shown him absolutely sickens me.

Zoro ㅡ Alcohol is his forte, not yours. It isn't that you're opposed entirely to the idea of drinking, just that you're not as accustomed to it as he is ㅡ and as such, your tolerance for it (especially the stronger stuff) is not the strongest.

"Having fun?" He asks, amused by the flush of pink that's spread across your cheeks and bridge of your nose, the glossy, unfocused quality of your gaze. It'd been a playful challenge from Usopp that even he has higher tolerance than you and now the sharp-shooter is sprawled out a few feet away, fast asleep.

You nod enthusiastically, giggling when Zoro reaches to stop the unsteady bob with his hand. "Man, you're absolutely trashed," he comments. "We need to get you some water before you end up regretting this. Come on."

He reaches for your hand to help you up, steadying the way you sway before leading you towards the kitchen. You're still giggling when he guides you into a seat and retrieves a glass of water for you, pushing it towards you.

"Just how much did you have to drink, anyways?" He asks, reaching to thumb at your cheek affectionately ㅡ and watches you lean into it rather than pulling away. Affection is also far from something you normally indulge in very often, and he can't deny that it's nice to see this side of you.

"Not much," you answer at last, foggy mind finally registering Zoro's question, studying him for a moment. "C'mere." You add the forward curl of your hand to emphasize your words, pouting when he laughs. "I said c'mere!"

"Will you drink that water if I do?" Your head bobbles in a clumsy nod again and he leans forward to comply with your wish, only to blink as you lurch forward to press your lips to his cheek. They're cool and a little sticky, smelling of whatever alcohol you've drank ㅡ but you're on a determined self-imposed mission of peppering his face with kisses. It's a little silly with the way you add a verbal "mwah!" at the end of each one, but it still makes Zoro's own cheeks flush all the same.

"All done," you report when you finally sit back, satisfied with the little marks you've left across his skin, and you reach for the glass of water to drink it, as you'd promised. Zoro is silent for several moments. You won't remember this, he's almost certain ㅡ but now all he can think about is how cute you are when you drink.

Law ㅡ "I think that's enough for tonight." Nimble fingers pluck the half-finished glass of alcohol from your grip, ignoring your pout as he hands it off to Clione, who gladly downs it.

"Spoil-sport," you huff, and Law raises an eyebrow. It's not every day that he gets to witness you acting more like a child than adult, and he'll admit that the way you sulk is amusing.

"You'll thank me in the morning." He reaches for your wrist and gently tugs you up, relying on the fact that the others are in varying stages of inebriation to cover for him being so forward with you in front of the others.

He's already had a drink or two, though he stopped when Ikkaku pointed out that you'd been roped into a drinking game with some of the others. Guiding you to the bathroom, he leans in the doorway to watch you sway as you reluctantly ready yourself for bed, studying your own reddened cheeks in the mirror.

"I could've finished my drink," you tell him petulantly, and he watches you struggle to climb into bed. Another reason he's grateful that no one else will remember much about this evening ㅡ he doesn't need them knowing that it's been months since you last slept in the crew bunkhouse.

"I'm sure you could've, but I'm doing myself a favor when I'm the one who's going to have to look after you when you end up with a hangover." Hat tossed gently to the side, he moves to slip into bed beside you and frowns warily when he finds you eyeing him. "What is it? You're not going to throw up right now, are you?"

You shake your head and lean up, your lips on his cheek before he can ask what you're up to. Slow and a little clumsy, each kiss you press is intentional ㅡ his jaw, his cheeks, the bridge of his nose, his forehead ㅡ and you giggle when you pull away to admire your handiwork. "Now you can't be grumpy," you tell him.

Your own perchance for physical affection is usually on par with his, but it's clear that however many drinks you've had have pushed aside your own personal boundaries.

"Aww, you're blushing!" You crow, and he scowls at the fit of giggles that follows. You're lucky that he loves you, and you're lucky that you're cute.

"Whatever," he grouses, reaching to cover your eyes with a hand. "Go to sleep. And don't puke in my bed, got it?"

Ace ㅡ "See? I told you this was a bad idea."

"Shut up," you groan, venom absent from your tone for the way you're forced to stop walking in order to halt the vicious spin of your head. "I don't drink much, you know that."

"I do," Ace agrees, "which is why I'm telling you it was a bad idea." He pauses, head tilting in thought. "Not gonna lie, it was hot to watch you drink them under the table, though. Who knew you had it in you, huh?"

He waits for you to answer and when you don't, he turns to find you half-way into an alley, emptying the contents of your stomach as quietly as you can. That kind of thing doesn't disgust Ace, however, and he hurries to rub your back until the shuddering heave of your body has stopped. "Feel better?"

"Much," you rasp, fumbling for the strap of your canteen and chugging from it greedily. Ace waits until you're satisfied that you've rinsed your mouth clean before he loops his arm around your waist and continues guiding you back towards the Moby Dick. "Still think I'm hot?"

"Absolutely, babe." Ace's answer is swift and as honest as it always is, which makes your heart do something funny as you turn to look at his side-profile. It doesn't take long for him to notice, his expression somewhere between confusion and concern as you come to a stop. "What is it? Gonna get sick again?"

You shake your head. "No, I just really want to kiss you right now." There's the answering spark of fire from Ace's fingers in response, though you take advantage of his momentary fluster to cup his face between your hands and promptly pepper his face with kisses.

Clustered over his freckles, the tip of his nose, eyebrows and even his eyelids, it's several long moments before you pull away. "There," you say, and Ace wonders if you're sober enough to realize his face has gone roughly the temperature of the sun from your burst of affection. "Come on, I wanna go to bed."

Ace lets you pull him along, still dazed by the lingering warmth of your lips on his skin. He goes to bed without washing his face, eager to soak in this side of you that's far less reserved with your affection ㅡ and when the men of his division point out in the morning that he has your lipstick dotted across his face, all he does is grin.

Sans doesn’t know what he thinks about the whole romance thing after a disastrous start. What happens when a precious friend confesses?

It wasn’t entirely unexpected.

Sans didn’t think much of it when you came that day. Sans would often usually invite you over anyway, though today you were first to ask him if you could visit. Which was fine- he’s never as comfortable with anyone else as much as he was comfortable with you. (Maybe Papyrus, but even then there were things Sans wouldn’t tell his brother because he didn’t want to burden him with problems that Sans would rather burden himself with.)

You were laughing. He always loved it when you laughed.

“so i told him: paper-thin skin? buddy. pal. i ain’t got skin.”

You were in an uproar, slapping your knee. “Oh my god! I’d give the world to see the look on his face,”

“oh yeah. definitely unforgettable. man got so red faced he looked like he was gonna burst. he then stomped out like an angry toddler.”

You were giggling, before the both of you fell into a silence. That was a normal part of conversations, Sans was used to it. Especially with you, the silence was never unwelcome. But this time… something felt different. The air has shifted. Your carefree expression had changed into something more contemplative. He wasn’t sure what it was, then. Or maybe, he just didn’t want to read too deep into it.

You spoke up.

“... Hey Sans? Can I tell you something?”

Why was he nervous?

“... yeah?”

“It’s… um. Give me a second…” you laughed nervously. “Haha, sorry, I feel a little sick.”

Sans’ brows furrowed. “what’s up? you ok..?”

You huffed. “Ok. Yeah. Sorry for ruining the moment? But uh… it’s been on my mind for a while, and I have to tell you. I hope you’re ok with me saying this but. I like you, Sans. Kind of… a lot?”

… Ringing. Sans hears ringing. It feels like something in his soul crashed.

“... Sans?”

Sans wasn’t there. His mind was somewhere else.

“i just… i just don’t know if i like you in that way…”

Her face broke into despair. She wouldn’t look his way. She didn’t even say a word to him.

“w… wait. why are you… where are you going?”

“I can’t be here.”

It was years ago. Monsters had lived on the surface for about a year. She was one of Papyrus’ friends, and their first meeting had been wonderful. It still leaves an ache in his chest when he thinks about it now, how hopeful he was when he met her. She was fun, always got Sans involved in social events, always found her way towards him when he was sitting on the sidelines while Papyrus took the stage.

“hey i wouldn’t recommend the punch.”

“Why not?”

“y’see, i like funny things. and that thing… it ain’t got a punchline.”

“... Are you seriously punning?”

“i think i’m being funny.”

“Hah, that’s so stupid,”

She was laughing. But when Sans thinks about it now, maybe it was a pitying one. Sans wasn’t one to judge, puns didn’t win everyone over.

She quickly became a regular in his life, the first human friend he’s made since the surface, one that seemed more interested in him than his brother. She would even pout and joke when Sans didn’t give her enough attention which was cute, at the time. It was easy introducing her to his friends, with how often she tagged along with him.

She would put her arm over his shoulders, hug him, get so close to kissing but miss… Sans never initiated, but only because he wasn’t much of a physical person to begin with. It was nice to have someone so affectionate with him.

He really liked having her in his life.

And then… came that fateful day.

“I was going to wait for you. But you never asked me out.”

“what do you mean…?”

“I know you’re smart, Sans. I’ve been obvious. I just don’t know if you even like me.”

He didn’t know where this had come from. He was suddenly put on the spot, struggling to give her an answer, an answer that he knew she wanted. But Sans was lost.

“i just… i just don’t know if i like you in that way…”

“...”

She was stoic. She was upset with him, she left him alone in his room after he brought out the games he was hoping to play together. Had he made a mistake…? Was he really that dense? Was he just terrible with commitment?

She… she deserved better.

So he decided to fix it. At least, he thought he was fixing it. Though it turned to be a decision Sans would regret soon after.

He showed up at her door the next night. She hadn’t responded to his texts, his calls. Not even Papyrus’. He felt guilty, like he ruined something perfectly good.

i can’t lose her.

Sans was starting to panic if she maybe had left- then the door opened. Sans soul shook when he saw how her face fell when she saw his face. She was going to retreat back into her room.

“w-wait! please listen to me,” His hand was at the door. “i… i made a mistake. you’re important to me, ok? and i think i want… to be with you.”

His soul sung when she finally looked him in the eyes. There were tears in hers, but she was smiling, and he was happy to have her hugging him again. The tension snapping was a relief. That he saved himself. But even then he wondered… why did it taste bitter to say those last few words?

It… didn’t last long. More and more of Sans’ time was taken up by her, which… should be a good thing. Couples should spend lots of time together, right? But he didn’t have time for his friends anymore. Everytime she went out, he needed to come with.

“Sans, you smell like ketchup.”

“oh… yeah, i put too much on my hotdog.”

“Come on, you need to eat something better. People keep telling me you smell like grease.”

“... really?”

“Yeah. Here, I got you new clothes. Crisp!”

“oh… thanks.”

“Get ready, I’m planning to go at six.”

He was becoming active. He was going out every day, he wasn’t locking himself in his room.

It was for the better, he told himself. She brought out the life in him.

… Sans always thought he was intuitive. He was the best at reading people. He’s the judge. It came to him like breathing.

But apparently, he had been blinded. He had a hard time trusting himself. That maybe his gut feeling was wrong.

“SANS…”

Papyrus had found him alone during a party, having escaped to the bathroom. His sockets had bags under them. His face was dripping with water. He just… needed to rest. Without anyone else around.

“ARE YOU ALRIGHT?”

“yeah… i am. just needed to freshen up is all.”

Papyrus looked so… sad. He hadn’t seen his brother frown so deeply, in a way that made Sans feel guilty.

“SANS. I KNOW YOU FEEL LIKE YOU NEED TO PROTECT ME FROM YOUR FEELINGS EVEN THOUGH I DON’T NEED YOU TO DO THAT BUT… YOU HAVEN’T LIED SINCE WE SURFACED, AND NOW IT’S BACK. AND I THINK… YOU MIGHT BE LYING TO YOURSELF AS WELL. BROTHER… WHAT’S THE MATTER?”

Sans was getting sloppy. He looked away from him, to the mirror- he couldn’t handle that sorrowful look on Papyrus’ face. All that did though, was force him to confront his own expression. His signature smile wasn’t even there. And Sans couldn’t muster the energy to bring it back.

“I DON’T WANT TO PRY, IF YOU’RE UNCOMFORTABLE, BUT… Could This Have Something To Do With Her?”

Sans should’ve said no. Denied it. Told Paps that everything was fine and he was just… just overwhelmed. But he didn’t.

“i… maybe. i…” He exhaled through his phalanges, staring at the bottom of the sink. “i don’t know if i love her, pap. at least… romantically. i’m… i’m trying paps, i’m trying, i should- she deserves to have someone love her. i want to love her.”

Papyrus finishes his thought for him.

“BUT YOU DON’T.”

“... no.”

Sans felt horrible. He felt like he was leading her on. But Sans really thought that he loved her. He did! He cared for her!

… But not in the way she wanted.

And Sans didn’t want to pretend anymore.

“What did it? Did… did you find another person??”

“no. it’s nothing like that.”

“Then what changed?!”

She was shouting. Sans didn’t like the shouting. She never took kindly to him giving anyone- anything else attention. Sans tried to fix it, at first. He thought he was the problem until he got the messages asking him where he was, why he was so absent.

“nothing has, it was just a lot of little things. i’m sorry. i don’t love you in that way.”

“... How could you say something so horrible!?”

It was a good thing they hadn’t moved in together. She had insisted on moving, and that was one thing Sans could put his foot down about. He has a couple of old shirts and pants at her place from the nights he’s stayed, but nothing he’ll miss much. Lots of them were clothes she approved. It smelled like perfume. Even when he thought he was in love with her he thought moving together then was too fast.

She blocked him. Cut him out. Told her friends how Sans didn’t try hard enough when she put in the effort. Sans was never a crier- but he was in tears, hiding in his room. He would talk about it with Papyrus, but right then, he didn’t want anyone to hear. He wanted to throw his phone, he wanted to scream at her. He loved her! Maybe- maybe he never wanted to date her, maybe, if they hadn’t they’d still be friends but she always just… took too much.

It was nice when Papyrus chose to cut her off, to show support for him. It was ironic, even though Sans was the one she always chased, she always seemed to be on good terms with Papyrus. Even would ask him to put in a word for her after their arguments.

Sans was fine now. No- more than fine. Sans was happy. His time with her being a mere bump during his time on the surface.

Then, not too long after, he met you.

He never realized what was missing until he met you. You gave him space, and you never asked him to change for you. You… you liked who he was, you liked Sans.

After her Sans was afraid to attach so fast but… he really, really wanted to keep you in his life. He might even like you, more than a friend would. But he wasn’t ready to start another storm in his life.

As he looked into your eyes, he felt his soul sink. He wasn’t ready for it to end.

“... i… i’m sorry,” Why was the air so hot? “i… i… hhh,”

“Huh?”

It was a little hard to breathe. Which should be impossible. He’s a skeleton… air… air literally moves through his ribcage. He isn’t… uh… what’s happening?

You were frowning. Oh no. Were you upset?

“S-Sans? Are you ok?”

Sans was gripping the couch too tightly, phalanges digging into the couch cushions, close to ripping them. Beads of sweat were rolling down his skull. He suddenly felt pathetic… panicking over you.

“Sans?”

His eyelights darted back to you, bringing him back to the present. You looked so confused… he felt so guilty.

no… i can’t do it again.

“i… sorry. i don’t… mean to panic in front of you but… are you upset?”

“About what? I’m… Sans, you’re not making a lot of sense.”

He presses a hand to his face, then takes a deep breath. His mind was in a frizzle and he had to explain to you now before he goes crazy.

“sorry, my mind is a mess right now. i… i don’t want to make you sad. but i don’t know if i’m ready for a relationship right now. and it isn’t you, it’s… it’s me. i don’t want to take away your hope or anything but… i don’t know if i’ll ever be ready for a romantic relationship.”

You blinked at him.

“Oh,”

 Sans tensed. Expecting you to explode, or cry, or yell at him, run out the house, hate him, oh god he ruined everything-

“Sans, that’s… ok?”

“...”

what?

“w… what do you mean?”

You’re confused. Sans was too. You shift your eyes left and right.

“I mean… that’s ok. I just didn’t want to make you upset is all, and w… why are you looking at me like that?”

Was he dreaming? His eyelight flashed yellow, as if he could find something. He scanned your face, your eyes, your nose- looking for a shudder, a twitch, even a pulse out of place.

Your face was neutral. Was it just hard to read you?

“you know, you can tell me if you’re upset.” Sans was telling the truth. “i can take it. i’d rather you tell me straight to my face if you are. i… i don’t want to lose you.”

You look startled at his sudden pleading, before giving him a pitiful smile. You put your hands on his shoulders.

“Sans? Can you look at me?” You asked in a soft voice.

It was difficult to look up. He knows you, you’re not the type to yell at him or to curse him for little things. He’d trust his judgment but he’s been mistaken before. Nonetheless, slowly, he tilts his skull up to you. When he does, he sees the determination in your eyes, a fierce yet gentle look.

“Sans. Believe me, I’m ok. You’re not going to lose me if you tell me no. Ok?”

“m… mhm,”

Your serious expression melts a little when you start snickering. “Sans, I… I didn’t even get to finish my sentence. I was about to tell you that I’ll understand if you don’t wanna do a whole romance with me, I’ll be fine! I think it’d be great, and I stand by saying I like you a lot. But, I also like where we are right now, and staying like this is pretty nice too. Just being with you is fun, and whether you’re my friend or my boyfriend, that’s not going to change. So… if you’re ok with staying friends after my confession, I think I’d like that.”

The static of panic started to fade away, and a feeling of calm washed over him. The relief was so potent that Sans could feel his sockets start to sting.

h… heh… i was worrying for nothing.

“yes. god, i’d like that too,” Sans wobbles, phalange wiping his socket. “i was scared that if… if i said no you’d hate me.”

“Pfft,” you snort, before you quickly covered your mouth. “Sorry that wasn’t, I’m not laughing at you. I just want to know what made you think that?”

You bump him gently on the shoulder with your fist. “I thought you knew me!”

Sans snickers, a bit more giggly than usual. “i do! i just have doubts when it comes to romance nowadays,” He sighed. “so… you’re really ok with being friends?”

“Yeah! What’s so bad about being friends anyway? As long as you’re not weirded out by me, if I still get to see you, I count that as a win.”

Sans thought the same thing. He smiled.

“yeah… you’re right.”

It was definitely a win having you in his life.

You go oof! When all of a sudden Sans tugs you into a hug, squeezing you tightly.

“i’m… i’m glad i met you.”

You take him in for a moment, before wrapping your arms around him. You squeeze him back.

“Me too.”

LAUGHING JILL

Her body is similar to Laughing Jack's, but shes more of a plushie compared to him. So naturally she's much much softer! Let's you say with her hair as you two snuggle up together. Like her male counterpart, she can purr! Its very comforting if you're seeking her out after a long day! Shes not as clingy as Jack, though... still just as loving though! 7/10 she tends to be little spoon

NINA

Getting this out of the way but Nina WOULD glomp you any chance she gets. If she gets too rough though, she will tone it down. A lot of your cuddling sessions start off with a glomp. Loves being physically affectionate with all of her friends so this is going to be a common occurrence if you let her do it! Neither little or big spoon, she lays across you in bed effectively locking you in place with her until the session is over. Her jacket is so soft and cozy! Some of her accessories might be a little uncomfortable as they press against you, though... big large beads and spikes.. 6/10 she gets some grace here because I love her so much

JANE

Not at all affectionate, I also headcanon that she avoids touch when she can. Please do not try to pressure or push her into cuddling with you, reader! She will approach you when she's ready! It starts off small, with her gently leaning into your side. Shes thin, so she runs a bit on the colder side.. she assures you that her aversion has nothing to do with something you did, she doesnt want you to feel like you did something wrong.. I dont exactly feel comfortable giving her a rating soooooo

BEN

He is usually inside a computer or phone :( how will you cuddle? Sure you COULD just take your laptop to bed and awkwardly wrap your arms around it, but... I mean technically like that hes warm! If you happen to catch him when hes out.. there is only regret. First of all hes like Jeff, he thinks this sort of thing is kind of cringe. Even if you did get so much as a hug from him, hes ice cold and uncomfortably damp... also has a weird electric buzz in his body that.. actually doesn't feel terrible, but combined with the other sensations it's just so.. overwhelming! 2/10

PUPPETEER

Very cold and very hard! Its almost like hes made of wood or something.. wait a minute...! He likes being held, so he defaults to little spoon. But if you insist on being the little spoon he might just be big spoon... its very rare, though. On the chance that he is, he sometimes hums and works his fingers through his hair. You... often times fall asleep to his humming. Cuddling is.. fairly regular, given that he constantly demands your attention .. 6/10

TICCI TOBY

He desperately craves affection but he also tends to reject it as a defense thing. When you get him to agree to cuddle with you, he tries to be big spoon.. he falls silent when you beat him to it. He thinks its nice, but he doesn't know how to process this. He wants to be able to do this sort of thing to happen more often but hes... not sneaky or confident when it comes to asking. DBZ Piccolo Headcanons

I recently remembered Piccolo is a thing and now he's living in the front of my mind so here are my headcanons for what he'd be like in a relationship

I haven't seen DBS or DB so this is solely based off what I've seen of DBZ (which is most of the show)

Piccolo has literally no idea what the feelings he has for you are

After years observing humans and seeing couples together, he'd never thought twice about having anything like that himself

But you changed all of that

The way he feels for you and cares for you are unlike anything he's felt for anyone

Similar to when he started mentoring Gohan, who became his first true friend, but different

Stronger and deeper and more...

Why do his thoughts wander to you so often while he's training?

Even when he's meditating?

He trains harder

Fights more angrily

Tells himself it's risky to be as close with someone as he wants to be with you

Basically he tries his absolute hardest to stay away from you

But after going a couple weeks without seeing you, he finds himself flying to your house without even realizing it, until he arrives at your front door

The look on your face when you greet him makes him wonder why he stayed away in the first place

He's not the most eloquent with words, especially when it comes to expressing his feelings, but he tries

It's hard for him to get the words out, but after a while of letting him try to assemble words together, you quickly realize he's trying to express that he cares about you

He feels a deep level of pride hearing you tell him that he makes you feel safe

Physical affection is a very new and foreign phenomenon to him

His examples of relationships are Goku and Chi-Chi (bro does not even know how to KISS how could he, he's never around), Bulma and Vegeta (another Saiyan who basically never engages in physical contact w/ their partner), and Krillin and Android 18 (probably the most affectionate couple he's seen but they don't do much in public at all at least from my memory)

So you'll have to take the lead for the first little while

He doesn't know what to do, or what you like, and he doesn't know how to ask

But he knows he likes the feeling of your hand in his larger, calloused one

And when you put your head on his shoulder, or touch his arm

One day, he gets the guts to reach up and touch the back of your head when you lean on him

Your hair is so nice to touch

He's extremely tentative, but the smile you give him tells him all he needs to know

Gradually, after a while, he starts to try to mimic what you do

The first time he reaches for your hand, you're so shocked you almost gasp

Anyways, if you're ever too unwell to cook and don't want anything simple that you have at home, he'll go out and get something for you

If you'd mentioned once that you like Chinese food, he'd fly to the nearest place and get you some

He scares the crap out of the employees, but he's polite and is as patient as he can be

In the event that he can't think of anything, he goes to Goku's place to ask Chi-Chi to make something

(Goku's off God knows where as always)

Chi-Chi suspects something, so she pries a little

Gohan's ears perk up, and he joins in

"You don't even like food Piccolo, what do you mean you need food?"

After a while of prodding, it slips from him accidently, too focused on you and your well-being to concentrate on his words-

"Just- I just need to bring her something-"

"HER?!?!?!?"

He throws his hands up and storms out

But he doesn't go far, because he still needs to get you something to eat

So Gohan sits outside with him while his mom cooks up a storm

"I know you probably don't wanna talk about it, Piccolo, but I just hope she makes you happy!"

He sits with his arms crossed, facing away from Gohan, but he cracks a tiny smile

"Thanks, kid."

Chi-Chi makes a whole feast - meat, fish, noodles, rice, the whole shabang

He thanks her briefly before bringing it all to you

"Pic, where did you get all this-? You didn't steal it, did you?"

"Why would you think I stole it?!"

He explains reluctantly that he asked for help from a friend

Tells you all about Gohan and Bulma and all of those guys while you eat

You chastize him a little for leaving a poor little child in the woods, but he's quick to reassure you that he never left him alone alone, and didn't let him starve but he leaves out the rotten apples of it all

This only confirms to you what a big softy he is not-so-deep down

And makes you think of all the times he coddled you, in his own gruff ways

Always doing everything he can for you, whether you're feeling under the weather or right as rain

When you tell him you'd like to meet them, he rolls his eyes a little

"Maybe some day. Better prepare yourself now, they're insane, all of them."

But secretly, he begins daydreaming a little about you meeting them, especially Gohan

He knows you'll get along great, and he won't admit it, but he looks forward to the day

Ultimately, he's doting, devoted, and cares for you more than he thought he was capable of caring for anyone or anything

He'll show you parts of himself he didn't know were there

im gonna rate them out of 10 but i consider it more of a sliding scale rather than a grade so like a 5/10 isnt a bad failing grade but more of like, a middle of the road average hug that's not bad but not exceptional either. absolutely needs a readmore bc good god do i love to yap. some characters i was more lenient with than others and honestly they arent even fixed scores. i could change my mind on any of them if i think long enough. many headcanons i have are not fully fixed, i love a loosey goosey way of thinking about characters. I think good hugs are made up of a few factors: physical build (personally i find ppl that have more muscle and/or fat to feel nicer when hugging), enthusiasm/personality, and experience w/hugging LOL. so that's mainly what i'll base it off.

RIDDLE: oh baby. he is both small and did not grow up with much affection in his life. personally i headcanon him as a little on the touch starved side so i think he badly needs hugs but may be kind of awkward about it. i do think he'd be pretty huggable for someone taller than him to jut swallow in their arms and rest their chin on his head all cozy style. but thats more him being hugged jkdlsfjsl it pains me to say it but i do not thin he would initially give good hugs bc i think hed be kinda 🧍 stiff and awkward and nervous the first dozen or so times. i think he could learn. i think he needs hugs. but i'm giving. i'm giving him a 3/10 😭 i cant bear to do any lower. oh god that makes me so sad ok moving on before i start crying over my son

TREY: hes got them BAKER ARMS jklfsdjfklsdh epel has even specifically said trey has a nice sturdy build or something akin to that. and hes got younger siblings / seems to have a loving home life as well. no spoilers but book 7 did mention he's got experience with physical affection to comfort said siblings so i think he would give good hugs!!! like he doesnt strike me as one to run around hugging people willy nilly but i think if the situation called for it or if he was in a relationship or something he'd give pretty good ones. 9/10, docking 1 point bc i feel like depending on the situation he might be embarrassed about it lol

CATER: caycay!!!!!!!!!!! hmmmmmmm i think he's got experience with casual hugs. or at least he gives the vibe, and we have seen him have no problem with physical closeness when he goes in for selfies / he has hugged people in canon before [i can only remember one instance off the top of my head but it's a book 7 spoiler 😚]

{book 7....... when he and trey reunited with riddle...... when cater ran up to riddle and clung to him with no hesitation and was practically crying about how relieved he was that riddle was okay. and riddle smiled but also said it kind of hurt KLFSDHKFLDS idk if it was bc cater was squeezing so tightly or bc riddle was worn out from the battle (i think both lol) but that shows to me he is not one to hesitate, and would go ham on a hug at least in a situation like that}

JACK: i think once he got past his tsundere nature he'd give killer hugs. big buff boy AND he has a fluffy tail/ears?? his strong arms are perfect for hugs. like that one comic:

he'd be so good at huggin'. but i think he'd be embarrassed about it. THAT BEING SAID if we consider him in the context of a romantic relationship with someone [hugs arent necessarily romantic im just trying to look at it from several angles!], he's said in a vignette that his species of wolf beastmen mate for life and dont take relationships lightly, he seems like he'd be absolutely ride or die for his partner. i could see him potentially being very privately affectionate. 9/10 yet again but still getting docked for the tsundere vibes but the hug itself would be fantastic.

RUGGIE: he's another one that seems more on the slim side of things [i mean they almost all are bc Prettyboy Anime Art Style Tendencies but. yknow. also considering The Lore here]. i think he could give a decent hug but i don't think it would be anything particularly wild. 4 or 5/10. ily ruggie i just dont think he seems like one to initiate a hug and would be fairly average about it if he did. SEBEK: hear me out. 9/10. maybe i'm biased bc i Love Sebek So Much Thats My Baby Boy KFHDSKLJFKSLD my shitty bitch son. but i also love so many characters i rated lower so whatever ANYWAY sebek is tall, athletic, very passionate and intense in everything he says and does. docked a point bc he probably would be weird and/or tsundere like jack but also similar to jack i think if he were giving a hug in a situation where he really cares for the person he'd go ALL IN. RIDE OR DIE DEVOTION PERSONALITY!!!! also i could see him like "you call that a hug? ill show you a REAL hug. OBSERVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" he also seems like he'd squeeze too hard but i think tight hugs feel good lol. hes a BITCH but at his core i think he is in fact very full of love. remember in book 7 [not jp spoilers] when silver was having his identity crisis and sebek was YELLING about how much he, lilia, and malleus all loved silver, and was SO upset at the very IDEA that silver might dare doubt the validity of any of that love. so much that he brought out his unique magic he'd been secretly practicing and swordfought with silver to snap him out of his despair and then also collapsed on the floor SOBBING LOUDLY bc he just felt so intensely about the situation. Sebek Is Full Of Love and i think an earnest hug from him would show it. it's possible he would also be stiff and award bc he doesnt really seem like he would be affectionate, but i think he puts his all into everything he does!!! if he wants to give a good hug hes gonna DO IT!!! he does not half ass things!!!

SILVER: hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. so he also has that swordfighting athletic build like sebek. he's also very earnest. hes a light magic user klfsjdflsj. hes a gentle soul when hes not like, duking it out in sparring time kfjflsfjdklj like the woodland creatures love that boy. but also, said with love, he is Very Awkward jKLFJSDKLHGDL. he didnt have a lot of socializing growing up aside from lilia, malleus, and the zigvolts from what i understand. he was more lively as a child, i imagine he hugged lilia. begins crying imagining baby silver clinging to lilia and malleus and fellow baby sebek omg.... maybe... jsklfjsdlf ANYWAY present day silver tho. i feel like. he'd also have very cozy hugs actually yeah. 9/10. docked a point bc of. well i just think he'd be kind of awkward but the hug would still feel really good!!!!!!!! also the chance of him falling asleep mid hug but tbh maybe that would make it cozier. hes probs cozy to fall asleep hugging. i get sleepy when i hug my partner bc hes so cozy lol.

i feel like i was really generous with silver and sebek. i should probably dock them a few awkward points and also i remember in book 7 idia was fighting for his life being squeezed between them and their HARD MUSCLES but that was also bc of the armor sebek was wearing and bc they were like, tightly in defense mode. ok yeah idk i should probably knock them down to like 7 or 8/10 at least bc i do feel like theyre maybe just. THEY ARE REALLY AWKWARD BOYS. I JUST THINK THE HUGS THEMSELVES WOULD FEEL VERY NICE!!!!

LILIA: hes probably the strongest socially [and physically lol]. hes like. hes small? but he went to war. surely hes got a muscle build in there. idk maybe bat fae are built different. but he has the spice of life about him. that inviting personality that pop music club has! 8/10 for similar reasons of chenya getting docked bc hes a mischievous little man. and he just doesnt really appear to have that sturdy build that i feel like puts the UMPH into a hug. but again HE WENT TO WAR so surely he has muscle lol IDK!!!!

MALLEUS: hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. also very awkward. many people held him at arms length. i believe lilia was the most affectionate with him growing up [jury's still out on his grandmother; i cannot recall if he's ever mentioned if she was affectionate or not]. i could see him similar to riddle in terms of being on the touch starved side of things. he craves companionship and his whole thing is that he is SO lonely. i could see him being a little clingy once he gets used to hugs. but also i think he is a bit more on the reserved side of things, so i do not think he is really used to such things. and he gets all pouty when lilia treats him like a Little Boy so jkdslfhdskl i dont think he'd realize how much he needs a hug. he does seem to have a strong sturdy build tho so he gets some points there, but i feel like he would just be so awkward klsjfksdlhf i'm gonna give a middle of the road 5/10. room for improvement through exposure therapy.

GRIM: fuzzy kitty. 10/10 when he wants to be a cute little guy. he has a guest room line that's like "fine, i GUESS i'll let you pet me" it's so cute lol. hes tsundere and probs a bitch if he doesnt wanna be hugged but when he DOES hes probably like my bunny and my bunny is 10/10 so fuzzy so cute.

CROWLEY: lol. on one hand, awkward strange man. very mysterious. but also very emotional jfklsjfkdls AND He has a long cloak thing that i feel like would add to the pizazz of a hug getting wrapped around the person hes hugging. maybe. does it wrap around or just hang off his shoulders? idr. he has cringefail husband vibes. that could be a plus or a minus JKLFSHDLFKJSDKL idk i think he'd give decent hugs. 7/10. he kind of. he seems needy AHLKFDJDKLJFSDL which could be good or bad i guess LOL but i. i could see him bein a lil clingy just with The Vibes He Has HAHHSH

Vargas: 9/10 he's got epic muscles and enthusiasm but i do think he'd squeeze Actually Too Hard sometimes KJFDLSKHFDS but aside from that probs a banger hug

CREWEL: his fluffy coat looks like it would feel nice but he doesnt seem very affectionate with people LOL. he probably hugs his dogs tho. 5/10 bc i feel like his actual hugs are probs fine but he himself just doesnt have the affectionate energy so i mean, probs a standard enough hug. but i bet the fluffy coat feels awesome.

SAM: i'm not sure tbh!!!!! sam's a cool and friendly guy so he's got the good vibes. 6/10 average hug, probs feels nice and i think he'd be open to them but i dont think he'd be like, super volunteering them or feel that exceptional either.

TREIN: hes a reserved man but also he was married and raised a family and he loves that family so much. and his cat. probs not a very firm build at his age lol. 5/10 average hug i think. would probs be loving when he did! but would probs also feel like hugging a grandparent which i feel like was not a very firm hug whenever i did that lol.

ROLLO: 1/10 JKLFJDSKLFHDSKLFJ I'M SORRY I DONT THINK HE'D BE A VERY GOOD HUGGER. HE ABSOLUTELY NEEDS A HUG THOUGH. boy with so many issues.

- These two are the MONARCHS of stubbornness. When crushing on each other, they just 'straight' up REFUSED to believe the fact they were in love with the other for like weeks, hell, even MONTHS. Even if another critter tries to tell one of them that they're in love with the other, they'd both refuse to even listen to a peep about love.

- Simon likes to put his arm around Poe's shoulder at any random point when he's around them; Poe doesn't seem to mind, or really care

- If you were to ask Simon if he was starting to crush on Poe cuz you saw him making goo goo eyes at them at some point, he would take his denial to his grave and the afterlife. While Simon would be pretty (and unfortunately) obvious when it comes to gawking at Poe from a distance (such as his tail starting to swish back and forth, having a goofy ahh smile on his face, and his hands cupping his face), if anyone we're to question him in that very moment, he'd either pay them to leave, pay them and tell them they didn't see anything, or probably just threaten them to not tell a single soul about it

- Poe's way of making "goo goo eyes" at Simon in "public" is somewhat similar to @/smilingcrittersthingig's hc (with SunCross), but it's just their regular RBF (resting bitch face) instead, and yet Baba's able to tell from a mile away that Poe is staring "lovey dovey" at Simon cuz she the fucking queen of being a grumpy af sheep + she'd know for long enough that if Poe is staring at Simon for long enough for her to stand around for like 15 minutes, she knows they like him

- If their way of trying to hide their relationship from the group goes poorly, like REALLY poorly, they'll basically just give up on trying to be secretive abt it,, And if any of the critters (sc OR nc) say to both of them that the two are starting to get annoying w/ their couple stuff (like playfully/affectionately teasing one another), there's a 50/50 chance where Simon and Poe will tell to critter to fuck off or they'll be even more obnoxious by having their playful teasing become slightly more cheesy and corny to the point where the critter leaves the room and then the two both laugh it off afterwards

- Their love language towards each other most of the time is just affectionate teasing. However, they both do have their separate love languages for each other; Simon's love language is through gifts cuz with all that cash, the moment Poe lays their eyes on smth they're interested in (probably smth gothic), Simon's already at the cash register with the item that caught Poe's eye + Poe's love language is with affection through words, but also with physical affection; if Simon does smth like REALLY sweet for them, they'd give him a small kiss on the cheek and a nice hug for the gesture (thank those 2 hcs abt their love languages from @skelexguts hehehehe :33)

- Simon sometimes purrs (ig it's like a rumble for dragons) when cuddling w/ Poe and he's NEVER aware of it, like ever; whenever Poe points it out, Simon basically feels like he got hit with wave a of 1st hand embarrassment and his face would change from a light red to DARK red in SECONDS. Poe rather thinks of it as cute (both the purrs + embarrassment), but ofc they'd never say it out loud (yeah, cuz they stubborn AF)

they meet completely by accident because This Space Kicker In Particular (who I'm calling SK) gets a try again in space soccer and crash lands outside the karate family residence. he's fine though, probably because he's subject to cartoon physics or something (might rewrite this bit of the lore bc it's kinda goofy but it's the first thing I thought of).

v predictably they start out playing soccer together, like they take a ball to the park or whatever n just having a kick around. but they move on to hanging out in a non-soccer context pretty quickly. i imagine sk's really curious to see what earth is like (it's probably his first time there), like he's filled w whimsy and joy just to go to the cafe n stuff :) joe is meeting him behind seniors back!

sk isn't joes only friend - hes friends w yuka n the wandering samurai n a few others, but i don't know if he's actually close with them? partially because he's busy training, partially because he's quite a reserved person, n to me at least I think he struggles a lot with self-doubt/feeling inadequate for anyone around him (partially as a result of the way he was raised). not to get Angsty on main but I think he ascribes wayyy too much of his self worth on his training... I think he has a tendency to try and isolate himself from others, both physically and emotionally

sk is the opposite (tropey ik lmao) - he's v outgoing, silly n carefree almost to the point where he gets on people's nerves sometimes (he's cowboy sk's "annoying little brother" to me). I don't think he fully gets/realises exactly why joe is v reserved but I think he manages to grow close w him in spite of that... idk how to word it. but I think he's such a ray of sunshine he's able to break through whatever exterior joe has put up for himself (ik how cheesy that sounds but yeah)

ive made a post about this before but joe is v v v affection starved (because Basement) and does a terrible job at hiding it to the point where he just melts over the smallest things. sk meanwhile is suuuuuper physically affectionate so yeah

I haven't worked out exactly when this happens but I think they just kinda fall for each other over time, it takes a while for both of them to realise its mutual tho....

joe alsooo gets flustered veryyyy easily (source: karate man 2 ds superb screen). sk probs picks up on this right away lmao

hmmm like inconsequential shit unrelated to the main story but they find remix 9 cat as a stray kitten at some point during all of this n joe takes it in... i think I could do a follow up post about what happens next in the lore after botb because this is already mega long but they eventually end up living together on sk's planet and the cat comes w them :)
