Biting my nails and having a very specific routine in which I get ready when I wake up. Like, I’ve gotta go brush my hair before I put my important cards in my left pocket, then put on my silver bracelet, then my beaded bracelet, then my earbuds in my right pocket, then put my earrings in. HOO BOY, DO I… fear of heights; fear of insects/bugs/arachnids/bees/wasps; I have a strong dislike of the number 13 but I don’t know if it’s a phobia, I just. REALLY hate it; the unknown, more or less what lurks somewhere beyond where I can see. Not so much a fear of the dark with that one, just what could BE in it.

53) Ever come close to death?

Two or three times, maybe? Two of them involved what’s called a laryngospasm, typically it can happen when your sick, which is what happened to me both times. Basically your throat just closes up on your for a hot minute and you can’t breathe. The first time I genuinely thought I was going to die (and my dad still sent me to school that day… HOE), the second time I was also sick and was losing/had lost my voice DURING A JOB RETREAT and it happened in the middle of the night so that was funny sitting there gasping for breath in the pitch dark.

At the FIRST retreat I went on for that job, you had to take pictures as part of a scavenger hunt, and the place used to be an old military fort, so there were still the old bunkers there. We had to take one on top of it and I was taking the picture, and it’s a wide shot so I go to take a step back but before I do I look behind me. If I hadn’t I would have fallen a good 10-15 feet down onto solid Civil War-era bunker concrete. I’d consider that being a “close to death” moment because I really could have died!

I have a half-brother !! My sis and I finally found him after her 23andMe results came back (which she decided to do despite us being like THE GOVERNMENT WILL COLLECT OUR DATA) and we didn’t think our mom would be happy she found him but she was !! My sis might reach out and contact him, she just wanted our mom’s permission first to do it.

56) What are three things most people don’t know about you?

Well, that I have a half-brother. I don’t mention it a lot. Aside from y’all on here and my sister, most everyone else doesn’t know I’m nonbinary! Everyone else knows I’m bi though lmao. And that there were times I’d stretch or bend the truth or lie about something just to impress someone else. It’s a… Bad Habit. Another thing is that most people don’t know I like coffee? Like I need to put a shit ton of creamer in with it because I’m a Bitch, but yeah.

57) An unknown fact about your life:

I wouldn’t call this an “unknown” fact but I’d used to go to work with my dad every now and again when he worked at the Home Depot and he was assistant manager. I’d either chill in the back room which was an office he shared with two other guys, or walk around the store with him. I had my own apron, too, which was my name with “Mini Mac” next to it, “Mac” being my dad’s nickname and something easier to say than my last name. I actually helped a few customers out so I wonder if I should have gotten paid for that despite being like, ages 9-13 when I’d go jshfkjd

This post is as little plain looking because I am in a rush(not really) and I just want to put out tarot related content because I have not in a while.This tarotscope reading is, if you can’t tell by the title, about the signs’ love lives for the rest of 2018. I will only be drawing one card per sign from my Romance Angels oracle deck and using that to help intuit your message for the rest of 2018 considering your love life. This post will be going in usual astrologic order(Aries-Pisces)

Aries: Religious Factors

If you are currently interested in or dealing with someone, there may be a possible religion related argument or dispute that may happen or come up. I’m feeling like for a good amount of you it may not even come up as an argument. It will come up in casual conversation and depending on how you respond, that may pique your possible partner’s interest or push them away. For a good amount of you, I feel it may push a budding romance away. For my single babes, I feel like it could mean that you’ll meet someone through religion related adventures or duties. You may meet someone who is deeper into your religion than you are and that may be off putting but, you’ll still consider them to be a choice or subject of interest. But just like my involved Aries, you could push someone away with your religious beliefs. For the ask thing: 15 and 22

HELLO I ALMOST FORGOT TO POST THIS OOPSI’m so sorry I wrote way too much again RIIIIIP

15. An OC that is hard to draw / write / RP

Hmm… that’s an interesting one! Drawing mycharacters consistently isn’t as hard for me as itused to be since I finished art school and gotmy skills up, but that doesn’t mean I don’t havea hard time! As for writing, I find villains moredifficult to write in general, because I’m muchbetter at creating protagonists instead. Theideologies and general demeanour of a “goodguy” come more naturally to me, but I do enjoythe challenge of trying to write a good villain! Ironically however, I have one character who has given me trouble in both aspects before, and that would be Snowy here (I love my owl son though fgfdghsdga). 

His design (aside from his armour) has changed quite a bit over time, because of both style development and the fact that he ages throughout his story. Getting his face right was the biggest challenge at first, as the original version of him ended up very close to other characters I’d made at the time. Theimage you see here is the one I am satisfied with as far as his aged up versions are concerned,but it’s all very much in development still.

Speaking of which, writing him is another interesting challenge. A character like Cassie iscloser to what you’d think a typical young fantasy adventure protagonist would be: upbeat,colourful, extroverted, a go-getter. Snowy, on the other hand, is much more reserved, level-headed and methodical. That’s not to say that I’d want Snowy to be any different though, andthat’s also not to say that he isn’t motivated either. The challenge comes in understanding howhe would react to certain things, including his motivations. He shares the “silent sufferer” trait that I have whenexperiencing trauma, but he does not possess the same rampant anxiety as I do, so I oftenhave to re-write scenes based on that. He’s not one to immediately panic or have extreme emotional reactions to things, at least not on the outside.

His backstory shaped this in him; he grew up knowing it was best to keep his head down andwork through the pain, but that gets much harder for him to do later on as the stakes gethigher. Even the strongest warrior can only deal with so much when people’s lives are in peril 9times out of 10, much less a young recruit like Snowy. He may not have rampant anxiety, but he does have rampant heroism like hisfather, finding a problem to solve wherever he goes, whether he can solve it or not. But unlikePrince Arvais, he doesn’t do it for the sake of flourish or fame, and therefore doesn’t care muchfor the spotlight. His inherent desire to help does wear on him as he learns of the realities ofbeing a knight, and his wings carry a lot more societal weight than he first realized. I can definitely relate to certain aspects of this setup, but if I were in this situation I would react very differently, and that’s what I have to consider with Snowy’s character.

Another challenge comes in not making him boring either. As I said earlier, having a morereserved character doesn’t always lend itself as easily to an interesting protagonist, but I knowit can be done. It is possible that the other characters with more outward personalities mightseem more interesting than Snowy anyway, but as long as I still give him a well-developed andwell-rounded character, he should do just fine. ;u; I want to do him justice as best I can, even if it requires more re-writes than usual.

22. An OC you didn’t expect to love

Honestly I love all of my OCs by default, but there is one that I wasn’t expecting to getattached to as much as I did, and that would be my boy Scorpio here. :D

I already loved him for his design and concepts of course, but the more I developed hisbackstory in relation to Ophiuchus and his dynamic with Cassie, I ended up making him a moresignificant character than he was in earlier drafts of the story. I am a sucker for the “edgelordmeets the cinnamon roll” dynamic and his slow transition from reluctant mentor to protectivefather/older brother with Cassie is so fun to write. :’D

He’s actually a bit hard to write too, as, like Snowy, I have to really think about how he wouldreact to certain things with a more reserved personality. But in Scorpio’s case, the contrast in personality between him and Cassie lends itself to a lot of good character moments, especiallywhen she can break down his walls a bit and show the lesser-known parts of his personality.Scorpio’s actually a bit of a prankster when in the right mood, so you can be sure he andCassie bond over that once she gets to know him (probably pranking Aries like Capricorn does,or Libra like Gemini does).

I also love writing the initial encounter stuff too, so I think having both is really what made mefall in love with Scorpio’s character as a whole. How he reacts to meeting Cassie does tie intohis connection with Ophiuchus, but that isn’t apparent until much later. Both Cassie’s Starglassand the one that Ophiuchus had give off the same “aura”, so before Scorpio even sees Cassiehe assumes hostility, sensing its presence. But on first impression, one assumes that Scorpiois hostile simply because that’s who he is, a stone-faced scorpion with a deadly glare and evendeadlier weapons. Taking one look at him would give anyone that impression, and Cassie isunderstandably terrified of him at first. This is amplified even further when she finds out he isher mentor, and thus the dynamic begins.

I really enjoyed the idea of Scorpio mentoring Cassie, as that gives Scorpio’s backstory acyclical nature. Ophiuchus was once Scorpio’s mentor, so having a similar job passed to himwith something as important as the Starglass, you can bet Scorpio’s got some extra baggagewhen it comes to that. Scorpio is also on the younger end of the spectrum in terms of agecompared to the rest of the zodiac (in his 20s, I’d say), so even he has some learning to dowhen it comes to teaching others. His zodiac companion, Scutum, was initially assigned to himas a sort of mentor in his early days as a sign as well, and it wasn’t all smooth sailing either.Despite his cool demeanour, Scorpio’s origins paint him as a lot more volatile than one mightthink. Though in the timeline of this story, that volatility only really shows in moments of trueperil, which is definitely present in the final climax. I’ve been fleshing out that part again lately,so it’ll be cool to have it come to light eventually. :’D

astrology & language

Feb 18th - hi pisces season :~)

what i love about astrology is: the more i learn the less i know. this is my favourite way to proceed in any situation, but it doesn’t bode well with people who care about knowing the most. who care about knowing more than you. who feel especially threatened if you want to learn about something they don’t, or cant. once, after a reading i did, during which i read a poem with astrological content, an acquaintance approached me and asked me why i would bother writing a poem & then “include such a pre-established system in it”? (i’m obviously paraphrasing here) i didn’t know how to answer this, partially because it felt like an especially unnecessary question, an especially inopportune moment to ask it, and an especially absurd premise to begin with. but this is always how it goes - the person who approaches you after your performance is almost never the person you want it to be - it’s someone who wants to poke a hole in you, ensure that you don’t feel too proud, or happy with yourself. on the night in question, i not only fielded this inquiry from my peer, i also dealt with an older man who followed me around, cornered me, told me he “loved my delivery” and then reached inside my shirt. once i lost him the first time, he pretended to leave the event but very conspicuously circled around my friends & i, presumably waiting for me to be alone again.

it was a difficult question to answer because it wasn’t untrue, it was just. a strange place, in my opinion, to draw a line. when i’m writing, or making art of any kind, i’m always operating within, borrowing, enlarging, minimizing, and amending systems that already exist. this is so true i don’t even know where to begin taking inventory of them. language itself is a system. & one that exercises incredible control, very insidiously.

language is what makes astrology feel resonant, or asinine. recently, a friend of mine asked me to write to her about her “houses.” (a treat!!& very daunting) all the reading i’ve done suggests that houses are incredibly difficult to grasp, and crucial to understanding the scope of a natal chart. according to everywhere, it “can take years” to understand them well. & there is no shortage of interpretations available.

when i started looking into them, the sheer amount of information was overwhelming. there are a lot of contradictions & it was a challenge to connect the houses, & their respective (and occasionally overlapping?) meanings, which, for some reason felt important. as it turned out, paying close attention to language is what allowed me to start parsing their significance, and their relationship(s) to each other.

very crudely put, the first 6 houses, which fall beneath a chart’s horizontal axis, speak largely to activities that take place within you, & between you & those (human & non-human) who are closest to you. the last 6 houses, 7-12, pertain more to how you move thru & engage the world in a larger sense. so far, the idea i’ve found that appeals to me the most is: houses as impulses. in this schema, the houses are broken down like this:

like all systems, this one leaves something to be desired, (built upon) but it gets me thinking in new ways that i appreciate. (can u figure out which sign “rules” which house, based on the affirmations?) something i really like about this wheel in particular is how easy it is to see the relationships between the houses(& signs, & planets) especially those that oppose one another. it is clear that there is a distinct relationship between:

the 1st house, (Aries) “I am” & the 7th house (Libra) “I collaborate”

the 2nd house (Taurus) “I have” & the 8th house (Scorpio) “I doubt”

the 3rd house (Gemini) “I think” & the 9th house (Sagittarius) “I evolve”

the 4th house (Cancer) “I feel” & the 10th house (Capricorn) “I understand”

the 5th house (Leo) “I want” & the 11th house (Aquarius) “I share”

the 6th house (Virgo) “I control” & the 12th house (Pisces) “I transcend”

admittedly, the affirmations for the 2nd house & the 6th house really leave me cold.

let’s consider the 2nd house briefly, just to illustrate the difference a word can make. my most cursory search revealed that the 2nd house has to do with: money & possessions. (the “i have” above seems in line with this.) but it felt, if not incorrect, then incomplete. how can the house that follows my 1st, my ascending sign, my chart ruler, the source of my individuality, be concerned with money? is that what follows the inception of the self? maybe it is now, in 2019, but was it always? i kept digging and came up w/ the words “resources” & “values.” which felt better, but still off. then, eventually, i read the word, needs & a little click. after i am born, and breathing, the first thing i know is what i need. money & possessions are needs, can & do make the difference between life & death, but they are not spiritually relevant, though they do sustain & enhance life. to me, it was important to assemble a definition that takes into account the nature of needs that are not only material, but psychic, emotional, intellectual, et all.

so astrology is a system, but surely the issue isn’t whether i (or we) use systems, but which ones i use, & how. astrology unfurled when i started relating it to the ecosystem. permit me to talk about a potentially contentious sign, to illustrate this. in contemporary astrology scorpios are perhaps most known for their sexuality, but (apparently) in ancient astrology this was not the case. they were merely associated with the unconscious. with what is dormant, repressed, or underneath. this, of course, can encompass sexuality, but isn’t exclusive to it. overt sexuality was more closely associated with the 5th house, and with its ruler, leo, and its exuberance & playfulness.

since sexuality has been so diligently buried, denigrated and hidden, it doesn’t surprise me that it would become so  associated with certain planets, houses, & signs, but i think that may have more to do with our current moment, than the cycle astrology attempts to elucidate. now, when i think about signs, i think about what is happening around me during that time of year: so what’s happening during scorpio season? most of the growth we’ve spent the spring & summer caring for & luxuriating in is expiring. we r at the zenith of its decomposition. leaves fall off & litter the ground. stems and stalks shrink and their colours change. their textures change. yes, it can look bleak, even alarming, when everything returns to the dirt. it may look less beautiful & less abundant than the seasons that preceded it, but if we could lift up the soil like a blanket, we would see that that couldn’t be further from the truth: how gorgeous & complicated it is that all the nutrients return to the whole.

brussel sprouts come into season (roughly, & depending on where you are) during sag season, but they, & certain other brasicas (turnips, cabbages,) which can & do grow during other times of the year supposedly taste better (or differently) after harsh frosts. (brought by sag & cap season) i can’t help but revel in finding out things like this, coveting them, holding them, building off of them before anything else. it inevitably reminds me of barthes, in his chapter on (love?) objets, called The Ribbon, in which he writes about the japanese poetic form, the haiku, which necessarily contains the kigo, the season word. amorous notation, he writes, retains the kigo. one word, at least, that speaks to the natural conditions love grows in. in my unprofessional opinion, astrology is nothing short of amorous notation. accounting for our bodies, what happens inside them, between them, around them, above them.

Paul, Nick, Josh (Continue): Werewolves from different packs, usually feuding packs. They join up together here and claim they have no alpha, though paul usually leads. Just don’t call them out on it

Jon- A harpy boi that lives with his bird. He loves his bird so much, he treats him like family. (Jacque may be a mythical creature himself, but no one knows). He tends to steal food and overreact and his hobby includes dropping things (and potentially jerks) from very high heights.

Jared- A incubus who receives power though love and popularity (and kisses), but he would rather receive platonic love from his friends than to force someone to love him. Mom does NOT approve.

PBG- A salty vampire. He and Ian often butt heads as he does occasionally drinks from humans (but never enough to kill) while Ian doesn’t drink from humans at all. Is besties with Jeff, and doesn’t know how jeff can stand Ian tbh

Satch- A familiar, he has an unnatural patience with helping people, and putting others before himself. He can use magic, and his regular form is a black cat, but he can transform into other animals as necessary. He only had one working eye for some unknown reason but as a scratch over the other.

Jirard- A dragon who would never want to kidnap a princess. He figures if he gets the rarest princess (a small itty bitty kitty princess pumpernickel), that could be the princess he ‘kidnaps’ to appease his parents. Also, he hoards hoards. He has several hoards my guy.

Shane- A muse of the arts- he’s very inspiring if he’s open towards you, but this often leaves him rather uninspired for this own projects, so hes always really salty is all (but lowkey likes to see the end result in someone being inspired by him)

  Hidden Block:

Jimmy- A check for a large amount written out to him A pooka!- a sort of irish fairy (but some consider him a ghost or a goblin) He can hold a human size/shape, but much prefers an animal form and just hitch a ride on whoever’s shoulder. He’s nice enough, but if he gets pissy, expect some mischievous shit to happen

Jeff- An alien born on earth, excited to go back into space. He’s forever working on his space ship with vigor, but knowing deep down once he leaves, he can never come back. (lightyear travel is fucking hard, okay?)

Caddy- A phoenix who really needs to chill. He ends up ‘overheating’, actually literally igniting and dying before being reborn like, twice a month. It’s a very tiring thing to clean up after, especially living around so many flammable objects but damn it, if he doesn’t get worked up over the tiniest things--- (Also bonus- red Mohawk Caddy)

Ian- A pale ass vampire with no time for your bullshit, I s2g. No mirror reflection, but shows up in photos. He absolutely hates it still, and is really weird about seeing himself.

Wallid- ????????????????????? “A beast at games” “a creature with many onion layers” ???????????

Luke- A siren who prefers the art of rap than accidently controlling someone. He absolutely loves music and the humans that make them. Distantly (very distantly) related to Mimi, somehow.

 Asagao:

Mai: A Valkyrie who hates the battlefield. She comes to Asagao to make friends that she can keep, and to slack off. She hates seeing anyone die, hero or not. Escorting warriors to their ultimate goal after hard and gruesome and worthwhile deaths is NOT what she wants to be doing for the rest of eternity.

Mimi: A mermaid who attends the school because her parents don’t want the salt-water of the ocean to dry out her scales or something. Very distantly related to Luke, but teases him the same as everyone else. Likes to yank people in the pool. Considers herself queen of the school. Her singing doesn’t have the same effect of a siren, but somewhat like Jared, she has a certain power of persuasion to people who like her.

Kakusu: A golem- A humanoid, stone monster that somehow runs on ancient technology. No one knows about her or where she came from, or how the magic keeping her going doesn’t wear off. She can do minor magic herself, but doesn’t know how to use it. Is mimi’s best friend, but is impervious to her suggestions. Seems to be a bit… naive as well.

Hana: A human who gets accidently summited to the school completely based on her pink hair. Is commonly mistaken as a brownie- an elf-like creature that helps humans with house-hold tasks (which is why she ‘knows so much about humans’.) She eventually goes with the story to keep her cover.

Shizuka: (A Nymph whos rumored to be a descendant of Lilith, the first female demon, who is known to seduce men and steal their souls)

Elsa @poketin: Slime Gal. Ummm she would like to lay with a lot of girls too if u kno what I mean, shes not as specific as Traci, but hey hey you know??? But Elsa is just here to be among peers and make friends because as a slime gal, she doesn’t really get the opportunity that often…
