Your boss had you delivering coffee to PTMH twice a day, it wasn't long before someone'd caught your eye and you'd caught theirs.

Four months ago, your boss, the owner of The Pitt Stop café was in a car crash. Thanks to a little luck and a lot of hard work from the staff of PTMH he was back to normal by now, arguably even better if you caught the skipping he'd started to do as he made his way into work most mornings.

Your mornings however had become slightly more hectic as a new job was added to your own never ending list. As a means of thanks, a set of thermos jugs and a few specific orders were yours to lug forth and back from the ER 6 days a week and twice a shift.

Your alarm sounded in chimes at quarter past six and so it began, brewing pot after pot and then cup after cup before packing it all up and making your way down the road. Distracting yourself from the chill in the air that your branded Henley and apron did nothing to protect against, you marvelled at the blown colours of the sun as you made quick work of the now familiar few blocks.

All but skidding to a stop as an ambulance peeled out of the bay you braced yourself for the inside of the ER. It was perpetually hectic inside those walls, yet it worked like a beautiful and well oiled machine and you always managed to fall into step with what you needed to do.

Most of the time it was impossible to catch Dr Robby's attention, making your way to the staff room you'd catch a glimpse of him moving from one bed to the next supervising and guiding as needed. He was rarely still, even more rarely was he unoccupied enough to glance around the ER, often called over before he'd looked away from one patient to get to another.

Unless Gloria was in the Pitt, then his feet were planted in one place and his eyes were flitting around anywhere but in front of him as he dodged some orders and blatantly ignored others. The performance demands of the board and his own well earned cynicism seemed to zapp his energy and focus completely within moments of these chats starting.

Today, your eyes found Robby stood seemingly cornered against the nurse's bay, looking about as trapped as he could do, shoulders tense with his hands writhing deep in the pockets of his hoodie. His fidgeting slowed, if only briefly, as he met your eyes and suddenly you were changing course.

Rifling around your pockets you looked for anything to help your little scheme; your apron? Nada. Your butt pockets? Nope. Your front pockets? Nothing. That tiny little fuck ass pocket that fits like nothing but a single key and apparently the tiny tyre shaped business card your boss had elected to use for brand individuality? Well yeah, that works.

'Hey Gloria! Doctor Robby!' perhaps your tone was a little chipper for the pair going into the last hours of their shifts as both heads turned your way like the crack of a whip as you neared.

Handing the doctor by your side his coffee without a glance, you struggled momentarily with the tiny piece of card in the tight denim pouch before brandishing it like a shield between the pair. 'Gloria you are just who I was looking for, the Pitt Stop wants to provide your departments and cafeteria with their beans and grounds.' Eyes still on the woman in front of you as she attempted to decide between pursuing her prior conversation or entertaining your proposal, your peripherals caught the twitch of the Doctor's nose as he suppressed a smirk. A somewhat defeated sigh left Gloria's lips, a chance you took to continue on, 'I'll give you his card but I think all he wants is a little signage.'

As you spoke Robby took his chance to flee, slipping away between you and the counter, the close quarters had his hand grazing your waist and the ice cold zipper of his hoodie dragging across the width of your back and leaving a sharp chill in its wake.

Gloria eyed you tiredly, as if not too frustrated but slightly put out by your interruption, nevertheless she took the card gave you a quiet,

'Sure I'll check it out' as she turned to leave.

Happy enough with your own quick thinking and slightly buzzing from the slightest of touches, you turned as well to make your way to the break room, as you walked Dana fell in step only speaking as she shut the breakroom door behind her.

'That was some good work on your feet back there, maybe we should bring you on if only to save Robby.' Dana's teasing wasn't new, but the prior scene was by far the best ammunition she'd been handed thus far. Sliding her personal cup across the counter you hoped she'd be sated, and as you moved to grab a thermos you almost thought you'd been successful.

'Of course you'd need to stop gettin' so flushed' You gaped at that, unable to rebuke her observation before she spoke up again, 'Not exactly subtle out there, and before you ask, no, I don't know if he's noticed.' Letting your head fall into your palm you were thankful for the warm hand she ran along your arm as if trying to stave off the cold on your behalf.

Pressing a kiss to your temple, Dana turned on her heel and returned to the floor. Shaking your head as you moved to lug the next jug onto the bench, you wondered whether it was worth it to put any effort into steeling yourself when around the doctor, it wasn't like it'd been successful this far anyhow.

Of course you had no chance to decide let alone consider a different approach before the door was opening once more.

'Yes Princess I got your six shot mocha' You rattled off the order as you held it out blindly behind you, expecting the nurse in question to grab the blindingly caffeinated beverage. A chuckle, much deeper than that of the nurse you'd presumed you were joined by however, echoed about the room as a warm hand enclosed your own guiding the paper cup over to the countertop.

'Princess? that's- that's a new one, strangely I don't hate it.' Robby was in no words serious but his tone wasn't exactly light either, as if something unspoken lay hidden lying in wait. Placing the jug down, you turned to lean back on your hands against the cabinetry, this time letting your eyes rest on his currently much calmer ones. 'Thank you for the uh- actually what is this?' Punctuating his question with a little shake of the cup before placing it by his side his gaze never left your face.

Swallowing slightly, you hadn't thought this part through when you'd chosen his mystery drink and now the words were struggling to pass your lips. 'It's a, a dirtier chai,' a small squint with humour in his eyes pushed you to finish your thought, 'my specialty'.

A little light chuckle left the man in front of you as his hand went to the back of his neck, a slight laugh bleeding into his words as he breathed out, 'I'll bet'.

'D'you like the taste?' A wordless hum was his only response.

'Too sweet?' Another little groan type chuckle and a disbelieving shake of his head.

'Too dirty?' As tame as it was, the tiny question was bolder than either of you had dared to be and his arms crossed over his chest, his brow raising and his hip finding the counter in a lean of his own.

Robby drew out an exhale as he studied you eyes only now leaving yours to run the length of your body, his shift of focus allowing you the place to ask again.

Turning to face him by your side, you studied his face, moving closer by barely an inch until your shoes brushed against his. 'Not dirty enough?'

'Jesus'.

Watching his lips form the word you missed his movements until a hand clutched your waist, drawing you forward and letting you practically fall into him. Palms against his chest to catch yourself, the cold metals of his stethoscope sending a chill down your spine once more.

'S'not an answer' you attempted to quip, your weaker voice falling far short of teasing especially as his other hand trailed slowly up your arm before snaking around to the base of your skull. Leaning in close his words breezed over the shell of your ear,

'Could definitely be dirtier.'

So I watched a couple episodes of the Murderbot series and I'm… not impressed? I feel like it takes the rough facts of what happens in the books and they phrase it in a way that makes it mean something different. And lesser, obviously. (spoilers under the cut for both show and book, up to, say, half of it)

Stuff that's plain wrong:

The series' introduction feels like a gross mischaracterization of the book's Murderbot: in the book it does not fantasize about killing humans but about it not being its job anymore to keep them alive: because it wishes they had better preservation instincts. Because it wishes them alive, not dead. The only time it threatened violence was just that: a showy threat display. There was absolutely no intent to follow through and absolutely nobody was the least bit hurt. It specifically hacked its governor module so it would not kill people against its will/by accident! It gets attached stupidly fast! Also, from a storytelling point of view, the series insistence both that Murderbot would like to kill annoying/inconvenient people and that it is deeply traumatized by memories of having killed people kind of. Weaken each other.

in the series, Dr Mensah's team are incompetent and careless. They repeatedly disregard their security consultant's warnings (Murderbot, who, may I remind you, they believe to be human, or human enough), even once they know there's dangerous fauna. In the book, they're good at their jobs! What put them in danger was that their intel was sabotaged.

In the series' intro again, the trigger to its imagining violence is humans deliberately hurting it: in the book, violence being done to it by humans is not a very important part of its mental landscape. Violence being done to humans by other humans is.

in the series, the first time we see Dr Mensah's team they take a strong stance against SecUnits, likening it to slavery, and then immediately fold. In the book they also get forced to accept a SecUnit by the company even though they consider their employment immoral, but… there maybe could have been a way to show that in the series that did not make them seem so spineless? The book's point, when telling us they think it's slavery, is not "we'll never use a SecUnit, it's a question of principle!" but "we don't have SecUnits at home so we don't know how they work (and can't spot a malfunctioning government module); also we'd rather not have one now" which is absolutely not the same.

in the series, the crew oscillates weirdly between, on the one hand, "it's obviously human and should be treated as such" and "making it obey orders against its will is slavery", and on the other hand "it's shitty company equipment" and "we can't trust it because it's a machine". Pick one! In the book, the humans consider it human, and Murderbot considers itself shitty company equipment. Even Gurathin! The issue book-Gurathin has is not with it being a machine but with it being heavily armed!

series-Gurathin forcing eye contact was… bad? I like the scene; it gave us insight into Murderbot's characterization, it had a couple of funny lines, and seeing people who hate each other interact while having to pretend to be at least half-polite creates interesting tension. But book-Murderbot hates Gurathin because Gurathin does not trust it. Book-Gurathin does not, afair, deliberately force Murderbot to do against its will something it's clear it is uncomfortable with. He's not that kind of asshole, no matter Murderbot's personal hang-ups, and that's important!

the reason show-Mensah doesn't want to go back (when they first see something's wonky) is… pride? So the company doesn't think free planets can't handle themselves? Wtf? "Oh no I'll risk the life of my crew so I don't seem incompetent" is the worst incompetence.

Ratthi asked Murderbot whether it had feelings and then said that was treating it as a person. For reference, book's Ratthi said "it's clear you have feelings", and "this is no more a machine than Gurathin is", which is very different.

why do they keep thirsting at it. Why.

stuff that's badly done:

the constant references to media feel, imo, after a bit, very heavy-handed (I like that we have a visual for Sanctuary Moon now! I don't like how we have five references to media, half of them unnecessary, in one twenty-minutes episode -I did not count but it sure did feel like that)

the constant contradictions mentioned above (Murderbot's view on killing humans, the crew's opinion on whether Murderbot is human)

There are fun parts! The "oh no, he didn't fall for my fool-proof excuse to go be somewhere else"; I like the helmet design; I like how they frame Murderbot's close-ups and the direction it looks in.

There are also changes that I don't have anything against! If you want the crew to be much more suspicious of Murderbot, that's kinda weird but fine! If you want Dr Mensah to have debilitating panic attacks, fine! If you want the romantic subplot to be much more important (unsure whether it even exists in the book tbh), fine! If you want to remove one character or add one, cool!

But making Murderbot bloodthirsty and the team incompetent is going against their core characterization.

(mainly animation stuff, but some writing stuff too)

i get a bit personal about mental health stuff and other things, but i don't think any of it requires trigger warnings; i'm generally pretty vague on specifics and i don't talk about anything too severe

these messages i sent a friend on my first watch are a decent "TL;DR" summary of this whole post, minus my thoughts on Lucifer's crowded-with-rubber-ducks room, which are especially important to why i like him so much. (TL;DR of that section: "lol he just like me for real")

i'm almost certain "YEAH I THINK LUCIFER'S GONNA BE MY ACTUAL FAVORITE BECAUSE HE HAS THOSE FUN FACIAL EXPRESSIONS" was when Lucifer and Alastor were pushing Charlie around. i LOOOOVE Lucifer's smug -> SURPRISE -> FROWN faces there

hazbin hotel has taught me that unreliable narrator is one of my favorite narrative devices. How an event is narrated can simultaneously worldbuild and teach the audience about the character who's narrating. it would make sense that the opening story of Hazbin, written by a mother for her child and written about that mother herself and her husband, would paint herself and her husband in a better light than they might deserve

learning more about Lucifer was something I was REALLY looking forward to ever since episode one's opening, with the children's story talking about "Lucifer's ideas for creation" and then not elaborating whatsoever on what those ideas might be. how excitingly ominous!

and then episode 5 starts. (We're not to Lucifer's intro yet in this retelling. i don't even know what the episode will be about. hold on XD)

and the animation is terrible

while episodes 1 through 3 felt pretty cramped in their writing's pacing and episode 3 had a few animation/character design consistency moments that made me grimace, overall, their animation quality was pretty consistent and good. (Well, the writing quality for episode 3 was awful. Just really terrible. But that's a whole other post I might or might not make, with, at this point, "might not" looking more likely unless someone asks XD) (episode 4, Angel Dust's episode, was AMAZING, especially with its writing. single best episode in the series. i have some critiques, but overall it's great, and i'm impressed with its pacing)

watching episodes 1 through 4, I wasn't getting whiplash from the animation as I often do while watching Helluva Boss, which frequently changes line art types between animators or clean-up artists and can even pretty dramatically change a character's look between shots

and. Yeah. episode 5.

Even after watching episodes six through eight, 5 is STILL the worst animated episode in the entire series, and I would say that includes if I were to count all of the Helluva Boss episodes

... although, now that I'm thinking about it, I don't know if I would categorize it as having as bad of animation as the Hazbin pilot XD Now I want to rewatch the pilot just to see which I think has worse animation quality/consistency: the pilot or episode 5 lol

BUT I'M GETTING DISTRACTED. (AND, SERIOUSLY, DON'T WORRY IF YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED ANY OF WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT HERE OR IF YOU DON'T AGREE. SERIOUSLY, DON'T STRESS ABOUT IT. THE REASONING/OBSERVATIONS BEHIND THESE ANIMATION RAMBLES ARE SUPER NICHE)

SO. YES. BACK TO EPISODE 5 LIVEBLOGGING THING.

I grimace at the drawing of Charlie looking upward as she tells herself to think:

Not much wrong with the underlying drawing itself -- it's heavily stylized, and that's okay. But the line art on her mouth is a lot thicker than it should be and doesn't have the correct "lipstick" tapering she usually has (extra, extra thick in the middle of her lips, thin at the corners of her mouth). Plus, her movements have really rough settling and feel gross to me. i internally grimace at this whole shot, but It's okay, i tell myself. Hazbin hotel's animation and art quality have improved a lot! This could just be a bad shot that slipped through. it happens! making shows and movies can be chaotic!

... uh-oh. Now the line weights on Charlie's face and body in this shot are wrong too:

I'm starting to feel bad about the episode already, and I don't even know what it's going to be about. (the only thing I DID know about episode 5 was Alistair was going to go "big and freaky monster form" because of the thumbnail Amazon gave the episode, and I was looking forward to that from a glimpse I got in a teaser)

(I'm actually rewatching the episode alongside making this post, to get specific moments if any arise that I want to discuss, and ugh lol, I might just make another post -- probably on my rambles side blog, not here, because I prefer to keep it at least MOSTLY positive and fun here -- doing a whole play-by-play of episode 5. even though I couldn't have known it on my first view, I now have so many comments to make about Charlie's mimicking her dad and saying, " 'gO aHeAd, KiLL eVeRyOnE.' " again, hazbin hotel taught me I love unreliable narrating. and, spoiler alert, Hazbin taught me that because of how poorly it does unreliable narrating, or because of how it almost doesn't do it at all. :( )

(ANYWAY)

when Charlie turns around and says, "Wait! That's... IT!"

her face is distractingly off model and now I'm feeling even WORSE about the direction this episode is going. episode 3 flashbacks lol. If you don't count Hazbin's 30 second intro, we're not even one minute into episode 5, and it's already looking like we're gonna get something as bad as episode 3

side note:

off-model Charlie (i think a big part of the "off-model" impression here is 1. mainly because her eyelashes are so gigantic they almost hide her eyebrows, and a character having no eyebrows when they usually do can look odd, and 2. her pupils aren't wide enough or circular enough): "Wait! That's... IT!"

Vaggie: "Kill everyone?"

Vaggie's line is sincerely one of the best jokes in the series lol. Love that

...okay yeah, I'm not going to do as accurate of a play-by-play of my first viewing of episode 5 as I can, because that would take so so so so so so long XD But, at least one more non-lucifer related note because I do like to point out strong moments in Vivziepop's shows:

I DO feel good about Charlie differentiating between Adam being a terrible person and between all of heaven being untrustworthy (unclear wording on my part lol: What I mean is, she calls Adam an asshole, but she has hope the rest of heaven will be open to her redemption idea and not so dismissive and rude to her.)

her naivete up to this point hasn't given me the impression that she would make that sort of differentiation (and, by the time of episode 5, Vivzie's and especially Hazbin's writing style in general hasn't given me the impression Vivzie would do anything more with Heaven than "Heaven Evil, Actually")

so, anyway, let's skip some more animation rambles and a comedic timing rant, and fast forward to:

Angel Dust: "Well I'd like to meet the big dick in charge!"

Niffty: "The ULTIMATE bad boy! (giggles maniacally) I bet he's SCARY."

My brain goes into overdrive after Niffty's line, especially since it transitions from "I bet he's SCARY" to "-scratchy, guttural voice intended to be powerful and intimidating in a dark room-"

that "overly in agreement with the adjective 'scary' " transition tells me there's an upcoming tonal whiplash joke, meaning Lucifer isn't going to be scary at all

further, the dark room setting that we're given right away, shows that the pictures Lucifer has up are off-kilter.

so, he's not scary (which we can know because of the color tone and audio transition agreeing TOO much with Niffty's statement). he's disorganized. he has multiple photos of him happy with his family Even though they haven't been together for years, and he even has a photo of Charlie in what might have been for most parents a "teenage phase" that they'd like to forget

but apparently Lucifer loves Charlie so much, that he even fondly looks back on her angsting teenager years -- he kept that photo and even hung it up

tonal whiplash joke incoming confirmed, and an especially poorly done one at that. visually, the whiplash could have been done better if there were more obvious signs of neglect, damage, or wear, or maybe even a sheet partially covering one of the images, at first misleadingly implying he doesn't want to associate with or think about his family anymore

instead, he clearly loves his daughter and his family, even though Charlie feels alienated from him. maybe she hasn't seen him in a while because he's a shut-in, or he needed to mostly cut off contact for some reason and we'll find out that reason shortly

when it comes to character intros, overbuilding a character being intimidating and then doing a 180 to show that they're not is one of my least favorite jokes. ever. so my thinking " 'this person actually isn't scary' tonal whiplash joke confirmed" isn't a good time

sudden drop in animation quality, poor dialogue pacing... yep, this episode is off to a TERRIBLE start

...side note

i totally thought Lucifer was masturbating at first

when I later watched this episode with my brother, he did too. (I forget exactly what he said, but he was a bit taken aback or made some joke about it.) and Jeremy Jordan (Lucifer's voice actor) makes a joke in a character description about Lucifer and says Lucifer "play[s] with his dick all day." (Jeremy's swearing so much in that video because the Hazbin voice actors are playing a game of "see how much you can swear while describing your character.")

so, the "oh, he's masturbating" visual misread may have been intentional lol even tho idt i've seen anyone mention this

end of that side note

now an animation side note: the rises and settles of Lucifer's shoulders here are not done well. Very blocky, like that first moment that put me off with Charlie at the start. episode 5's animation sucks

i think to myself, hating this episode, that this is a terrible first animation to use for an important character's introduction. this poorly executed intro is especially egregious because he's mentioned and even vaguely shown in the pilot, and he also gets the same "importantly mentioned but passingly shown" treatment in the very first episode--

"... THE MAGIC-TASTICAL BACKFLIPPING RUBBER DUCK!"

okay that's hilarious and adorable. that was great

"THAT SPITS FIRE!!!"

INCREDIBLE. I LOVE HIM.

Lucifer: "Hold the applause, please, okay! Heh, alright, thank you…" ... ohp the animation, lineart, and visual timing are bad again. but I've already forgotten how much I hated the lead up to his intro with that "tonal whiplash" joke, because his intro is SO GOOD XD

--- ...hm. huh. his voice is. just a guy. kinda boring and an odd choice. (DON'T ATTACK ME I DIDN'T KNOW JEREMY JORDAN AT THIS POINT ;QJSFKJKQSJKSKQJ. HIS VOICE WAS LITERALLY "JUST A GUY" TO ME)

aND OH. I WAS FAR MORE RIGHT THAN I EXPECTED ABOUT HIM BEING A SHUT-IN. A DARK ROOM WITH TILTED PHOTOS, FILLED WITH RUBBER DUCKS, GIVING THE IMPRESSION OF ISOLATION AND OBSESSIVE PROBLEM-IGNORING.

THIS GUY IS NOT DOING OKAY

and now here's one of the first reasons I started to especially get attached to him, rather than just go "haha What a funny character":

things have improved a lot, and I haven't self-sabotaged for a while at levels that I did in the past, but one of my coping mechanisms when I'm stressed is over-focusing on media I like or over-focusing on side projects.

(Don't worry about my blogs hyper fixating on stuff, genuinely. I don't think most people can tell from the outside when it's at a self-sabotaging point until there are signs like failing classes [self-sabotaging to that level only happened one semester but WOW it was miserable]. but, even tho it may not be visible from the outside, I can tell the emotions and feelings behind what I'm doing. usually there's almost only anxiety of "this isn't what i should be doing" with no enjoyment at those points, and i'm spending NO TIME AT ALL on responsibilities.

let me emphasize: in that situation when i'm exceedingly stressed and don't know what to do or am too scared to do what i'm aware i should, i may be spending almost all my time on hobbies or interests, but it's MISERABLE AND IT'S NOT EVEN HOW I WANT TO BE SPENDING MY TIME. I'M TOO SCARED TO DO ANYTHING ELSE, AND I MIGHT EVEN BE TELLING MYSELF "STOP, THIS ISN'T WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING" THE ENTIRE TIME

all that is also different from my ADHD difficulty with switching tasks, altho "overfocusing to avoid things" and ADHD executive dysfunction can mix together and make each other exponentially worse if i don't take care of myself. anxiety and ADHD are dumb and tricky to work with... but at least i'm self-aware and can usually tell apart which of those two is causing me problems? lol????

anyway, point being of this parenthetical aside, other than partially being more detail on why i relate so much to this maladaptive coping mechanism: hyperfixating is what I do by default, and I'm doing fine right now. :p :) 💜)

Lucifer's barely been onscreen for ten seconds, and he's doing well on becoming a character I like. already he has in his favor:

having a moment done so well, that it pushes past my preemptive eye rolling (The overbuilt intro [bad] followed by The Rubber Duck [magic-tastical]. ....although if a moment has to be done SO well that it pushes past preemptive eye rolling, maybe that's not a shortcut XD)

specific poor coping mechanism that I strongly relate to

and now for an "oh boy this episode's animation SUCKS" interlude: i'll just copy-paste a ramble I sent a friend a while ago about animation quality on this whole Lucifer intro scene.

OH BOY EP 5 HAS SUCH MESSY ANIMATION CLEANUP LOL and i'm genuinely not convinced Lucifer was given a character [reference] sheet [more specifically, i'm not convinced he was given a turnaround] from how many variations there are in his design.

in general in these three shots, pretty nice line variation, with thicker lines on the outside of the character and thinner ones on the inside (details and inner lines are thinner than the bolder "overall form" outside lines) + individual lines change in thickness along their lengths (e.g. some lines are thicker in the center and thinner at the ends, and vice versa for others):

now for listing more things that Lucifer does well that I relate to or simply enjoy, just in his intro scene (While implicitly acknowledging the animation/cleanup/consistency oversight continues to be terrible lol):

practicing before a phone call (I've only done this a few times, and not with anyone as important to me as Charlie is to Lucifer, but it's felt necessary a few times, even if i felt awkward doing it each time. but even if i don't often rehearse for phonecalls, it's not uncommon for me to write bulletpoint lists for them beforehand [usually not with friends or casual calls, but sometimes] )

especially when already in a poor head space, speaking poorly of any attempts i might do at almost anything, as Lucifer does at his practiced lines to Charlie and as he did with the Magic-tastical rubber duck

SO MANY funny faces and so much movement and expressiveness

EXUBERANT too energetic greeting to make it seem like he's doing well. that "HEY! How are ya!!!" reminds me of so many times that I've needed to pretend to be okay almost immediately after a breakdown or felt like I need to force myself to seem like I'm in a good mood for someone who I feel is doing worse than me. (this is not necessarily healthy)

Charlie: "You know where I am, Dad! I've told you before!" -insert The ADHD Meme:-

... except in the above case, I'm not applying "ADHD" to Lucifer, and, even now more than a year later, I still don't want to until given more character information. instead, I'm seeing "depressed and withdrawing from the world, and suffering from memory issues that come alongside depression."

unfortunately, I relate to that too -- depression memory issues -- and Hazbin's writing so far is doing a great job at saying "depression" without literally saying it. (fortunately, my relating to depression is an "in the past" thing. also here, in my experiences, "depression / dissociating memory loss" and "ADHD memory loss" feel different from each other. AT LEAST I'M SELF-AWARE?? LOL????????)

(side note: Lucifer being autistic and having ADHD are popular headcanons in the fandom. i respect those headcanons and am not telling anyone they need to change them. i can see it. i just don't feel like i can, in good faith with my understanding of his character, say those apply to him until we've seen him under less stress and less pressure. many anxiety, stress, and depression responses can read as ADHD or autism, and the frequent comorbidity of any of these with each other make them even trickier to individually identify)

Lucifer: "Well, you know, I um... Uh." THAT DELIVERY AND HIS EXPRESSIONS. FUNNI. GOOD.

but also, i interpret the above moment as maybe more evidence of memory issues from depression (if it's not just him not knowing how to avoid saying "i was. making ducks"). this writing is awesome (sincere)

Charlie: "I told you when you called me 5 months ago? Or did you not listen?" Getting accused of not listening when something is just not at all in my memory is so real

Lucifer in response to Charlie's above line: "(panic that settles into an attempt of composure) No! No no no! Just--You know, just FORGOT. You know, I've just been really busy. You know with um. IMPORTANT things. 😬😶" i connected to so many parts of those few lines: the backpedaling after realizing you said the wrong thing, and the trying to make it seem like your forgetting isn't associated with how much you care about the other person (because sometimes the saying ~"If it's important, then you'd remember" just doesn't apply)

the following doesn't as directly tie to what's going on with Lucifer in the story But nonetheless gives me an extra "ping" of "I relate to this guy." still with the above moment, specifically the awkward lie of he's been busy with "important things," a lot of my hobbies and interests can seem trivial or even shameful to much of my family.

most people find it's super cool that I animate, but somehow those same people don't always seem to make the connection that means I enjoy watching cartoons a lot, and that, even though they think animating itself is cool, somehow an adult really liking animated stories is immature, or that it's "weird" I focus so much on one series much of the time. Plus, socializing can be difficult and exhausting for me, so I need a lot of "rest days." and I'm physically disabled, Even outside of what's currently going on with my sprained hand.

basically where I'm going with this, when it comes to meeting up with people and doing things that aren't doctors' appointments or school- or work-related, I may need to negotiate dates and times with people, even though I may not technically have a lot going on, or I may not have a lot going on by other people's perspectives. just doing a doctor's appointment or hanging out with other people might exhaust me for a day or two, so already that's a lot of space "filled" in my calendar

(This is different from fatigue syndromes, since how exhausting an interaction is, is almost always directly tied to how much i need to second guess myself or mask. I think it's just an "it can be tiring to consciously and constantly analyze people's body language, tone, and word choices, as well as tiring to analyze what I say or do three times before I do anything due to autism and taught anxiety" thing.)

But giving myself my rest days so I can maintain my emotional stability and emotional health is so important. I've had people, often family, question me in annoyance before about, well, what do I have going on anyway? and the answer is watching YouTube or reading a book

But you don't need to know that. You just need to know that I'm not available the other day that you wanted to try to talk or meet up. "I'm busy," or "That day doesn't work for me."

so, yeah, "important things" said with a bit of (narrative) humor and (character) awkwardness is relatable too, even if my experience isn't what's going on in this scene

Lucifer so happily and readily wanting to help Charlie (at first lol) has actually been really important to me. i'm fortunate to have a dad who's eager to help his kids and is financially able to, But it can feel bad or shameful to ask for help. Not going to get too far into this, but some of my siblings are okay with asking for financial help, and some of us aren't. until I saw this episode, I was in a mindset of "only ask parent for financial help If you're literally in danger of dying or being (further) disabled for life," Even though almost every time I talked to my dad he would seemingly be implying, "PLEASE, Is there something I can do for you?"

--- basically, even though there were some really bad moments in my life, I still didn't see asking for his help as an option. But the shocked literally wide-eyed eagerness Lucifer shows at feeling like he can help his daughter got me to understand more fully where a parent might be coming from, a parent who cares about their child and who has the means and desire to help.

--- this small moment has literally encouraged me to ask for help when i might have been too anxious to do so before. or, with some of the things i asked for help with, maybe i still would have asked, but I would have been far more troubled and guilt-ridden than otherwise, making already stressful situations even more stressful

with all that I wrote above, I didn't take it personally when Lucifer refused Charlie's request at first. first of all, this is fiction and i'm not actually any of the characters in the story lol. second, the moment was done comedically, and almost certainly, I thought even on my first viewing, it's related to a bad past experience Lucifer has had with heaven. this is The Lucifer we're talking about after all, and his banishment is definitively established in episode 1. also I got distracted by all the bad animation and what, to me, was a too-long joke with all of his "No"s lol. (when I watched this episode for a second time, knowing how much I now liked Lucifer, I figured the multi-No moment would grow on me, and it has XD)

him wanting to see Charlie so badly is endearing lol, and his missing or entirely forgetting or ignoring the point of WHY she's inviting him over is funny, even if concerning

Lucifer: "My~ daughter~ wants to see~ meeeee~" both funny and a sweet reminder of how parents can feel about children they love: they want to spend time with their kids, and they want to feel like they matter to their kids.

--- also, this whole last moment, from before he hangs up to the end of this little singing bit, seems to hint that for some reason he wasn't spending time with Charlie because someone told him that she DIDN'T want to see him, or for some reason he convinced himself of that. this is SUPER interesting and, if i'm reading the moment correctly, i'm still curious about the origin of him having those beliefs

"TAKE THAT, DEPRESSION!!" I actually didn't care much for this moment when I first watched. it brought his depression out of a "well written but not said outright" category + where did he learn the term "depression" since it being used that way is relatively recent and he's who-knows-how-many-thousands-or-millions-or-billions of years old + he's an old geezer (many older people aren't very open about mental health diagnoses or what they view as "trendy" diagnoses) + i got concerned "depression" might be used as a narrative excuse for any of Lucifer's shortcomings or poor actions. although his face is funny :p and this moment has grown on me and I do like it now, especially after seeing how much Jeremy Jordan loves this line during his live streams

NEW SCENE. LUCIFER'S AT THE HOTEL NOW

(i caps lock this next part, although, looking at the messages to my friend as I first watched the episode, it looks like even though I was enjoying Lucifer trying and failing to be a good dad [because, in almost all circumstances, if a child, especially an adult child, feels abandoned by their parent, that parent is not doing a good job] I was still hesitant to enjoy the overall episode.

The animation has been atrocious, the pacing and joke writing has felt off, and this is the first episode released after the first chunk of four. I was concerned all Quality Control was put into the first four episodes, and that the quality of the rest of the show will have plummeted)

LUCIFER IS SO PATHETIC AND AWKWARD. HOW LONG WAS HE STANDING OUTSIDE THE DOOR. I LOVE HIM

--- ON A LATER VIEW WHEN I SAW HIS AWKWARD SMILE BEFORE BENDING DOWN TO PET KEEKEE, I ASSOCIATED HIS PETTING KEEKEE AS SIMILAR TO GOING TO A PARTY AND FIXATING ON A CAT OR DOG BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO INTERACT WITH THE PEOPLE. VERY RELATABLE ANXIETY / AWKWARD RESPONSE

“Look… I just don’t get why you wouldn’t want to go back to Potomac. From what I’ve read in your sophomore internship review, Dr. Rabin was genuinely impressed with you and said he’d be excited to have you back for the Senior internship. What happened? I – I would’ve understood anything, really. But Arkham? You really applied there?”

Professor Campbell’s office is a time capsule. A familiar, cozy environment that you’ve been inhabiting for a whole hour per week since the start of the last semester. Decorated with undemanding potted plants and cheesy motivational posters on the walls around you. The smell of paper and hibiscus hangs in the dry air, warmed up to an almost uncomfortable temperature by the ever-running radiator mounted to the wall. Usually, your presence in this room is accompanied by a sense of inner peace. One hour per week during which you’re allowed to fantasize about a glowing future as you sit in front of your academic mentor. But today, the tiny woman with the prominent smile lines is looking at you with thinly-veiled indignation. It’s an ugly expression on her, you decide. People like Campbell are better off smiling and laughing, like the human embodiment of a Golden Retriever.

You shift in your seat, resisting the urge to gesture with your hands to avoid seeming defensive. No, you keep your posture open and inviting on purpose. The body language of a genuine person.

“Potomac Psychiatric Hospital is just not what I want,” you start, speaking gently in an effort to make her emphasize with you. “I need a challenge. I don’t want to hang around rich people with mild cases of burnout all the time.”

Professor Campbell’s face scrunches up with mild displeasure, and you feel the need to quickly correct yourself.

“No offense, of course. But my main interest does lie in… the tough cases. And there are tough cases at Potomac. Jeremiah Arkham himself called his asylum the ‘Ivy League of insanity’. And Dr. Crane used to be a professor here. You knew him, right?”

Campbell flinches, and you could swear you were able to see an expression of genuine fear in her eyes for a fraction of a second. And for that fraction of a second, you were speaking to a prey animal instead of your favorite psychology professor.

“Well… Professor Crane – Doctor Crane was a… well-known member of the faculty. By which I mean everyone knew of him and the kind of seminars he held. Nobody really knew anything about the man aside from his special interest in fear-based disorders and most likely crippling caffeine addiction. Back when I knew him, he was… eccentric to say the least. But he knew what he was teaching about. Students fled his lecture hall as soon as he was done speaking, but he really was a brilliant mind. He was a professor for a reason, after all.”

You nod along to her words, unable to stop that little spark of personal curiosity from growing and festering within you. If everything goes well, you’d be able to witness firsthand how peculiar this man is for the entire summer. Much to her dismay, Campbell’s tales only serve to encourage your decision.

“So, if the two of you knew each other, there’s already a networking opportunity here,” you conclude, folding your hands in your lap.

“Yes but –“

“Also, Arkham is right here in Gotham. I don’t have to rent a new apartment anywhere else, I already know the city, and so on and so forth.” You feel a little bad for cutting her off, but it’s almost ridiculous how much she’s trying to dissuade you from your plans. Campbell doesn’t bother to hide her displeasure anymore, letting out a sigh as she taps a manicured nail against the porcelain of her teacup.

“Listen,” she starts, choosing her words carefully, “we’ve had many students apply to Arkham Asylum for an internship over the years. And those whose spirits didn’t get crushed during the interview were worn down by the work itself. Besides, the influx of applications is monumental. There’s no guarantee that you’ll even get invited to the interview. In my humble opinion, you should write Potomac an email and – “

“I already got invited.” Campbell’s eyes widen, and the silence prompts you to continue. It’s a little difficult to not seem smug as you speak, but you manage. “The interview is this Friday.”

“Friday…” Campbell reaches out for her cup of tea, trying to wash away the bitter taste on her tongue with a mouthful of hibiscus and apple. In that moment, you feel a little bad for the professor. She’s always tried to make time for you and dutifully offered help wherever she could. And in return, you’re acting childish, trying to incite a one-sided contest over an internship. You let out a sigh along with her, shifting in your seat; softening up.

“This is… something that’s really important to me,” you offer, trying to apologize without saying it. “Potomac was a huge help for getting into the swing of things. I… learned a lot about the basics. And for anyone else, that hospital is the perfect match. But I don’t want to graduate, secretly doubting whether I’ll ever be ready for the real work. I know Arkham is a baptism by fire. But it’s what I need.”

Campbell hums in response, stirring a third sugar cube into her tea. It’s just a habit to keep her hands busy at this point. You’re pretty sure the crystals don’t even dissolve anymore.

“Besides,” you continue, smiling at her because you know this will give her at least a shred of hope, “even though I got through to the interview, I might not even get an internship spot. So… this entire conversation might be redundant anyway.”

This gets you the response you were hoping for, and the professor nods thoughtfully as the smile you’re used to returns to her face. She sounds relieved when she answers you.

“If that should happen, I’m sure you could still send an application to Dr. Rabin and he’ll have you on his team in no time at all. Oh, why am I even worrying? You’ll figure it out.”

You nod, feeling in real time how your smile relaxes into something more genuine. Suddenly, the warmth in the room doesn’t feel oppressive anymore. As the mood switches to something more cheerful, the two of you talk some more about your final thesis before you decide to end the conversation on a good note. Campbell rises from her seat along with you, and you mirror her smile, relieved to finally be done with this interrogation. Your mentor heads to the door after you, gently patting your shoulder.

“Let me walk with you. At least until the staff lounge. I need a fresh cup of tea.”

📸 PERFECTLY KEPT POLAROIDS... any memories you wish to keep pristine? ones that you visit again and again, replaying them to make you smile?

the day that Kiss Me and Cry blew up was. astounding. unbelievable. i had barely staggered out of bed, hair mussed and eyes still crusty from sleep when Liam tackles me into a hug, the rest of the band around us screaming and shouting. still groggy from sleep, i'd ask what was going on, and i got shoved our listening data in my face. the glare of the screen was blinding but i didn't care, attention captivated by the way our listening had shot up into the 100k of monthly listeners.

no one could've expected the insane reaction after we dropped You Up?. hell, we'd gone to bed, just relieved we finally have it out. it's something that i've revisited in the many nights since, to just feel the disbelief and high again. we had worked so hard and it paid off. how many people can say that?

👤 I WILL REMEMBER YOU... these are the people who have left your life, and yet they still have their impacts in your life, whether it be the soap you use or the way you peel an orange. who are they and what is their impact?

there's one important one. we don't talk about him much.. the band rarely ever mentions Roman, and if they do, they tiptoe around the topic on eggshells. i don't think Liam's entirely liked him either.

he was my college boyfriend, back before we decided to go all in on this band business. i'd score first place in class and he'd be right behind me, but i liked that he never did go crazy about it. sure, he threw himself into the books right after, shooting me a smug grin whenever he "won", but it wasn't entirely bad. it just felt like a fun rivalry, one that pushed us to be better (though the high of the competition kept us both going back for more).

we eventually got together when we were paired up, and it didn't take long for us to fall deep. i thought i'd marry him. he picked out a name for our future daughter/ son (he was Roman and I Rowan so he wanted to continue the pattern with Rowena/ Ronan. it's so cute.). ...and then one day he had to move. his mother was sick and he had to go care for her. he'd give up his scholarship. we tried long distance, but eventually it took it's toll on us. i haven't seen him since the day i hung up in tears, having freshly broken up with him.

still, i order the same coffee, the one that he introduced to me, in every coffee shop. i continue eating coconut ice cream, because he convinced me to try it once. when i'm in a rush, i tie my knots the way he does, looping it through the middle and tightening it, because i copied it off of him all those years ago. i don't think about him too much nowadays. but sometimes, sometimes, during those dark nights when things hit and your chest aches, when i'm all alone on my balcony watching the city lights, i can't help but wonder how he's doing. has he moved on? did he ever achieve any of those ridiculously extravagant goals he'd set? ..would we recognise the other if we ever saw each other again?

🌃 IN THE DARK... what do you think of when you lay in the dark, daydreaming before sleep? are they good memories? bad memories? go ahead and confess to the void.

on good days? it's mostly me turning over song lyrics in my mind, wondering whether they work, and trying to fix them before bed. i'll let my imagination wander a little, storming up ideas that could either turn into songs or tucked away as stories scribbled into my personal diary. it doesn't matter. sometimes it drifts, drifts to the people i care about, and i have a mortifying habit of thinking about liam and our past escapades together before going to sleep. still, it makes me smile – he is so ridiculous at times (like the time we snuck out and went to an abandoned amusement park and we almost got caught because his pants got stuck. we only got free because we managed to tear the fabric so he was just wandering about after with this weird combination of one ripped pant leg and another normal, long one.) that i cannot help but laugh to myself.

on bad days? i toss and turn, head spiralling with thought after thought. my brain decides that it's a good time to take out embarrassing moments and analyse them, magnifying each impact. oh you tripped during practice and nearly smashed your face against the rehearsal floor. cool! let's think about all the people who saw and what they now think of you. did someone take a video of you? could you wake up and see your embarrassment plastered all over social media, becoming a new meme? my brain needs to shut up.

on the days where i'm exhausted however, my brain runs slow. memories slip against each other, thoughts start before the other finishes, and i fight not to close my eyes and just free fall onto the floor. practice can be gruelling, and so can planning and recording new songs (especially when you have a perfectionist manager), and there are just days where i could probably fall asleep standing up if given the chance.

Notable Features: Male MC, Named MC, female LI, story heavy Spiciness: 1/5 -- And it's not really even spicy. The man is taking a bath with a glass of wine. Don't get me wrong, he looks good, but it's more of a vibe versus suggestive. LI MC Red Flags: 2/5 -- Obsessive, possessive, short-tempered, entitled, self-centered; he doesn't do much, but you can tell that it's brewin'.

Wanna know more? Even though it doesn't say 18+ explicitly, it does say that minors shouldn't interact...which is anyone under 18. That being said, shuffle off if you aren't of age. If you are of age, let's get into it!

Ah, intros. I never know what to put in them, so...I guess I'll talk more about the game but not so much it'll make the review pointless.

So, this game was really good, and it's not even done. Like, ugh, the writing is just so...it's elegant. Like, I want to buy it some champagne and do the posh "Oh ho ho ho ho~!" laugh as we exchange tales about poor people activities, even though I am the poor people, ya feel me? Let me tell you though, the story is everything but elegant. Like, the yandere? A royal? More like a royal fuck up. Ohhhhh~! Got hit ass!

Also, I almost forgot to mention that I put "MC Red Flags" because we're playing from the yandere's point of view which makes us him and him the main character and the main character is us since we're making the decisions for him. See? We're him and he's us. Just a heads up for that one.

Okay, is-- is the intro long enough? Are you cool with the intro being this short? Genuinely? You're gucci with me just jumping in? Because, I'm deadass just stalling. Bless you, let's stop stalling then, because I really want to tell you about this game. As usual, I'll tell you as much about the visual novel as possible without ruining the story itself.

With that out of the way, let's get into it.

Once upon a time Yeah, nah. I know it flows like a fairy tale and all, but nah. We're doing this my way.

So boom (ah~ much better).

Our -- well Claude's; that's the yandere by the way -- wife left us for some wack ass pleb, and we are officially the gossip among the commoners and will lowkey be the laughing stock of the royals. Honestly, it's embarrassing and really damned infuriating.

We're kind've running back where the marriage went wrong, and we've pretty much come to the conclusion that shit went left when we chose a hoe over our heart. Who was our heart, you ask? None other than our housemaid and (lowkey) childhood friend/sweetheart Ella.

We start reminiscin' about our one and only Ella, and just kind've recalled that we hadn't felt that genuine warmth, love, and happiness since her. Like, yeah, admittedly, we felt that with our wife for a bit, but it was mainly because she kind've boosted our ego quite a bit in the beginning, and it's like...she was there, so we may as well have learned to vibe with her a bit.

Pfft, yeah right. You see how that shit turned out. 6 years of straight misery. Fuck her and fuck that baker, too. Well...I don't know if he was a baker or not but...look, Silvia is a hoe, and so is her entire damned lineage. Period. Ella would've never ran off with some peasant the way that she did.

Wait...

Actually...we never really thought about that before. Granted, what we said about Ella never treating us the way that our ex-wife had is true, but we're starting to think that maybe that other part about her never running off with some guy is...not entirely true.

No, no, no, no, no. Negative thoughts rejected. That can't be true; it's not true. She's our Ella, and our Ella would've waited for us; our Ella did wait for us. We just have to finalize this stupid divorce and go looking for her.

So, we do. We finish the paperwork, break the shackles of being held down by a harlot that we tried to make into a queen just for her to go back to the cobblestones where she belongs, and look for our precious Ella. That being said, even though true love conquers all, this is pretty tall task to accomplish on our own, so we go to our main ally:

Esra, the royal oracle.

Nah, don't get excited, because this was a fucking waste of our time. This man wasn't an ally at all, let alone any actual help!

First off, we asked him for help, and it's just attitude with him. Like, excuse you? I'm your king? Watch your tone? Second, when we finally do get him to the point where he actually does what he's supposed to do, this mothafucka looks in his little special book and is like "Don't do it". Like, huh?! The fuck you mean "don't do it"? I ain't ask you for advice, I asked you for help, specifically how to get to my damned Ella. Then he's all "Okay, but the stars said--!" and we're like "Boy, fuck you and them stars"! Like, sir, not you telling me not to look for my Ella?!

Bump it.

We just take our lil' "help" and go on about our business, but it's like, it sucks, because now, we have to regroup and consider another ally. We start getting frustrated because why should we even have to do this in the first place, ya know? Like, why couldn't that dumbass oracle just help us like instructed? Now, because of him, we have to waste more time finding another ally, and the only other person we can even consider is ... oh Gods why ...

Floren fucking Winters. Let me tell you about this motherfucker...

He was the biggest ass to us when we were children, but unfortunately and admittedly, his bloodline is pretty top tier when it comes to combat. That being said, because of the arrangement between our families, we stay royal and they stay loyal per our late father's decree, so Floren's dad served, Floren currently serves, his future kid will serve, and so on and so forth. Anyways, I'll get more into this asshat's backstory with us later.

So, Floren comes trotting over in the middle of our monologuing talking mad shit already. He pretty much leads with "Worried about me when your divorce isn't even finalized? That's crazy. Oh, and that guy she ran off with? Lmao I bought him a beer".

Oh word? Is this what we're gonna do? Haha ooh, bitch...

Let me explain something real quick to y'all.

This dude (likely) had feelings for Ella at one point, too, if not still, and has always thought that we weren't good enough to be in her graces. That being said, remember that whole arrangement I brought up earlier? We stay royal and they stay loyal? Guess who had to ship out for 5 years to war? Guess who was making the moves on Ella for those 5 years when he was gone? Yeeeeeeeeah lmao.

So we remember all this, and we take a quick second to get on our king shit, because at the end of the day, he's beneath us, and we're damned sure gonna remind him.

See that? Now those of you that watch anime know that when the protagonist or the antagonist does this, they're about to lay into that ass and fuck up someone's world.

"Remember when you were playing hero those 5 years? It took less than that for Ella to create a divot in my hand and in my arms. Our worst times together were, would be, and are significantly better than your best times with her. Tell me you're jealous without telling me that you're jealous. Letting my birthright dictate what I do? Couldn't be me~"

Look at his face. Look at those dots. Silence. We ain't even have to correct him about the divorce...I mean, we did, but you know...summarizing. Wait, stop, don't get me off track.

Even though we just said all of that, and we had a "checkmate, bitch" sort of moment, we didn't really "win" the argument, because Floren kind've checks us about one very specific detail.

"'Couldn't be you?' Dude, it was you. You threw Ella away like a used toy when Silvia came along, and now you suddenly want to play with her again? The way that you're treating her like an object that's only there for your convenience is actually gross."

...Chile, so anyways. That thing about allies? Floren is far from one.

Even though, he was lowkey right. If Ella saw us now, she...wouldn't be entirely happy, especially about how we kind've blew up at Floren like that. We really have changed over the years, and we're starting to question our own integrity a bit despite feeling like we're still a good person overall. We love Ella, -- our Ella -- and we would do literally anything to be reunited with her.

"Are you so willing to risk the lives of unwilling innocents just to achieve your goals?"

Easily. The stars refused to shed light on our fate when asked, so I'll commit the sin first and ask for forgiveness later. That being said...

And we are probably going to sin a lot.

I'm gonna repeat myself a little bit here, but y'all the game isn't even done, and it's this good! Admittedly, as some of you that have been rocking with me know, I'm conceited when it comes to these visual novels, so I always want to be able to self-insert, and (of course) I prefer the LI to be a guy. That being said, when I saw that this was what it was I was like "Eh..." but considering that I'm a sucker for styling and that this was one of the people who are working on the masterpiece Something's Wrong with Sunny Day Jack -- **cough cough** I have a review of it here; shameful plug **cough cough** -- I gave it the ol' college try.

Okay, so, let's talk about the pacing, which was amazing. It honestly could not have been executed any better, in my opinion. The way that it just jumps right into the thick of it but not so much so that it's disorienting was such an Olympic skill. It was just so crazy that the dev was able to do that but still ease into the actual story where we see this man slowly spiral and the plotline start to take hold. It was just so beautifully done. Speaking of being beautifully done...

The yandere, Claude, is being written so well. Like mentioned, I'm genuinely enjoying the slow spiraling of this man, and I cannot wait to see how far he'll actually go for this Ella girl. Like, to read about the moment that he realized that "Oh shit...what are the chances that the woman that I blew off didn't actually wait for me?" and then he basically gets bout it, bout it with the royal oracle AND the captain of the royal guard? Not to mention, he actually acknowledges that something is potentially off with him but he rationalizes his actions and says that he's a good person and that he's doing it for love?! Like, brooooooo. We don't see it yet, but this man is bound to become a menace, and I am demanding an update!....please, I fucking beg, dev. I. BEG.

Also, just as a side thing. Can we just take a minute to talk aboUT HOW FINE FLOREN WINTERS IS???

Like Claude and Ersa are cute, don't get me wrong, but it's something about Floren. Hell, it's not something, it's errythang about Floren Winters! Like, that is hubby. That is baby daddy, and I don't even want kids, ya feel me? Like, I volunteer to keep that whole "You'll serve, your children'll serve, and then their children'll serve, and so on" thing going. We can spend plenty of time to make some babies, okay?

But no, yeah, I feel very strongly about the direction that this game is going in, and I am really excited about how the story will pan out. Like, what the hell was Ersa referring to? Why did his face literally just...?

Like, do you see that? That is genuine horror. Like, I imagine that he's seen countless prophecies, both good and bad, so what kind've shit did he see that was so appalling that he was just like "Bro, don't do this"? Like, deadass, my guy? Just straight up don't do it?? DUDE, WHAT TF DID HE SEEEEEE??????? Like, I want to know so bad! Best believe that if and when this full game drops, I will be right damned there!

Anyways, I'm gonna end it there because some of you already know how I get when it's a game that I really like. I'm gonna stop my yapping while I'm ahead. Before I officially end it though, I want to give you guys the link just in case you want to play it for yourself, and I absolutely think that you should. My BSD reality

So i'll start talking about my bsd Dr even if for now I just wanna go to my better Or (probably permashift, but the me that stay here will keep shifting, doing post and all. And i could always change my mind).

Basically in my bsd Dr until i'm 14 is pretty much the same as here, in my backstory i like meet Fukuzawa and Mori (in my Dr Ada and Port mafia are allies until Dazai left the port mafia) and they found out i have a power, after that they convinced my parents to join Ada and they accepted (since powers exist in that reality it isn't so strange).

Since i'm trans they also convinced my parents (by some tricks) to let me have a complete transition (Mori was my surgeon).

Basically at like 15, i start really working for Ada and i'm like partner in mission with Dazai and Chuuya (they both live with me and that's is the timeline i'm shifting). I didn't thought about many events after all my subconscious already know what i want, like which events from the original lore i wanna partecipate and what i don't want to happen to me (like no getting hurt). Also i'm not sure if i wanna censure blood and violent stuff bcs honestly i wanna the full experience but i still wanna be safe so i'll put much thoughts into it.

I will also make it have a "good end" and this Dr will sure continue even after the original lore is finished (since it is real life/reality) and after we keep having mission until like we retired.

Also things i change from the original lore is : wan is canon, Nikolai will join the Ada and have a redemption arc, Dazai will find a way to live, the port mafia isn't that bad and no ones will die.

A little bit of background:

Child of famous fantasy novel writer Sosuke Hoshiko and renown esper Zafiro Hoshiko, Ryuusei is a hero-in-training. They aspire to be like their aunt Jupiter, also known as the hero TARO ! (Pronounced the same as Tarot. She's my aunt in every reality 'cept Earth-19 so yeah)

As a curious little wonder child, they found their quirk from observing their friends in awe. Of course, the idea that they could essentially "learn" their friends' quirks didn't sit right with everyone, but they found ways to make it their own regardless of all the looks.

Brief description:

"Am I a girl? Am I a boy? Who knows! But everyone finds me attractive and that makes everyone gay." (Bro does not get the huzz they are TRIPPING)

Purple-eyed brunette of around 175cm in height with a tan complexion

A student of class 1-A within the hero course and one of the six recommended students.

[note: each class is now around 25 students instead of 20 nyehehe]

Went to middle school with Midoriya and Bakugo but wasn't that close to Bakugo (I wonder why/j)

Whimsical spirit but takes no crap from people

It wasn't too difficult getting along with their classmates for Ryuusei as they are quite a special bunch...; (no specific order)

Izuku Midoriya:

Friends since middle school, Ryuusei and Izuku supported each other's career goals despite their classmates' opinions. Also we're both huge nerds, but I definitely think it's a lot more than just nerd for him...

Kyouka Jirou:

Both have a passion for music and love passing each other CDs from time to time. We should definitely make a mixed Spotify playlist together.

Mina Ashido:

Eccentric fashion, styling, and dance are all in for these two! She's never boring to be around,,

Ochako Uraraka:

A little whimsical duo! Ryuusei likes to have Ochako help with with cosplay and even makes her cosplay for some reason (she's so cute what can I say😞)

Rikido Sato:

Mind blown. That's all. Rikido's pastries are mind-blowing, and as a result the two exchange pastries and recipes or little tips! (Majority come from Rikido he's so good at them I could swear)

Denki Kaminari

The first classmate who's quirk I tried to learn... I'm surprised it took me 16 years to get to learn an electricity-type of ability. Like Mina, we also share a taste in eccentric fashion. (I swear him and Mina are into Gyaru I love them sm)

I get along with most of my classmates just fine, but I don't know if I wanna make it that long... So I'm gonna cut it to that for my friends😞💔 I should so make a post for alla them

I'll never allow him to talk crap abt me it's so funny. Hates 1-A to the core at first but every time he tries to mention anything about me he can't. He just can't. (Totally didn't use my quirk for that... Think Sophie trying to talk about her curse in Howl's Moving Castle. Yeah). I think he's hilarious, I really can't take his insults seriously. I also found that our quirks are quite similar, so I ended up taking an interest in the dude.

Anyways that's alllllll!!!

hey guys! im sosososo sorry that I havent posted in ages.. I do want to cram in something this week atleast. I'll try make another post this week too aside from this one. im currently working on my nge dr intro too, i've uploded it a few times but keep deleting it since I dont think its good enough 😖😖 anyways, lets start!

evangelion depicts a lot of religion and psychology, so I didn’t want to sugarcoat it to be a better place, because I feel like making it seem better just takes away what makes nerv nerv. so I decided to rewrite some of it, a lot less suffering but it still has the flair to it :)

I was inspired by abandoned airports, liminal spaces, alba aero and whatever aesthetic im using for this post - I have no clue what the name is but it captures perfectly what my nge dr is like. it’s not a lot but I pray I cooked in this as i've been trying to figure out how to go about it without making it too traumatizing.🤞🏻

† NERV

NERV is really mysterious, to put it lightly. the rabbit hole seems almost impossible to find the end of. its almost like theres no light at the end of the tunnel when there should be.

gendo and SEELE are pure evil, but I did make sure to script the second impact is the last impact to happen and that the instrumentality project never happens too - even though it is a huge plot point. no way am I experiencing that.

but just like the rabbit hole, the building seems to have no end. the more you walk around, the more bleak and empty everything is. when you think you've reached the other end, you're only a quarter through. the air is always heavy, sterile and its always cold. when you work as as a pilot, you know more happens in NERV than they let onto.

NERV is government funded by international bodies like UN. however, the money and power are being used for secretive, morally questionable ends that the public and many governments have no idea about - clones of rei, experimenting on both adam and lilith, and the dummy plug system.

sometimes when the pilots are required to come to NERV instead of school, I tend to use up my free time in NERV walking as far as possible and listening to music simultaneously. it definitely wouldnt help if my brain starts convincing me momo is behind me or something cause i'd likely take off running and hide in a corner. 😭😭

† EVA'S

as a quick summary of eva's, they're basically a giant, cybernetically modified humanoid entities created by the organizations gehirn and its successor nerv. they're used to fight angels and to protect humankind!!

they're kept pretty deep in nerv. they're also insanely tall too so its pretty daunting. I didnt change much here aside from the colour scheme, instead of reis being more blue than white I just swapped that around. mine eva is just beige, white, and black.

† OTHER

I dont know where to put other details of nerv so i'll add it here :)

— I didnt want to live with misato, shinji nd asuka so I just scripted that I get a penthouse to stay in thats near my school while having bills funded by nerv. because of this, I get paid by nerv so im able to afford trivial things so I can pay for food, clothes, furniture etc. (I scripted that my monthly salary is around ¥31,572,166 cause im not fighting angels for a measly 10k euros)

— I scripted that im not scared of the angels. i've minishifted to evangelion but havent managed to fight any angels. im assuming that they look like the biblically accurate angels so im gonna script they arent terrifying.

— the pilot list is confidential to the public, however it'll only be revealed if you tell someone. so through word of mouth essentially. nerv does have a strict qualification when it comes to recruiting pilots - 4 pilot slots, have to be 14, need to be born after the second impact, and to not have a biological mother.

— since juggling nerv and going to school is pretty difficult since you'll be in nerv 35% of the time doing tests, fighting angels, etcetc. I scripted that the pilots have tutors funded by nerv so we dont catch up on schoolwork and whatnot.

— I also did script that aside from having a funded private tutor, we also get a therapist too that come over nce a week and they do their job properly too !!

thanks for reading if you've made it down here !! im so sorry if this genuinely feels much more deeper than my other dr's i've mentioned. im just itching to have a psychological dr ^^ I do have a few parts of my nge dr I will share at some point too.

I also love this aesthetic too, if anyones seen my former nge drself design in december. this is such a stark contrast but I feel like this fits so much better. I love having drs like this so much.

DR S3, Ep6, Fallen Wishes rewrite/rant:

(Not a complete rewrite ofc, but a few things that I would add and/or change in the episode)

Now, this idea ig formed after I wrote my little rant about the roles of the F5 and how Kur was specifically left out, despite obviously deserving more screentime. I know that the F5 were underdeveloped in general, but this is going to be about Kur.

In that post, I wrote about how Kur should've gone with Rox to Djinnjago to fix the blade as well, so here are a few reasons and things that could've been changed up.

Reasons:

1) Kur retrieved the blade, so it should make sense that she is also the one to finish the job. Even if Rox was needed to form the triangle, use Theroxian magic to potentially trap the Djinn and maybe even be the only one to know where Djinnjago was, (as was implied seeing that Kur was surprised to hear that the Djinn were not infact gone) Kur should've came along for the ride.

2) It would've given Kur more screentime.

3) It would've shown a little bit of the team dynamic and how the F5 work together. Or at least how some of them work together.

Now, how to change it up? I can hear some of you saying that the reason Kur was left out was cus of how overpowered Decay is. And that's true. We don't want to downplay Kur too much and just have her be there in the background after all...

Changes:

Well, you know what was one of the first scenes before the intro rolled around?

Arrakore granting wishes to a bunch of people. People, mind you, that could've been decayed by Kur.

That scene would really show how threatening the F5 are, or well, two of them at least. They fly down with their army. It's really scary, but the thing that would ultimately show just how dangerous and high-tense this is is by having Kur Decay people before the intro comes on.

Now, as for the rest of the episode with Nya, Sora, and Riyu fighting Rox and Kur, it's pretty simple.

Remember that this is the wishing episode (that's how the people who were decayed could get better) and Arrakore is strongly on the ninjas' side, so all that needs to happen is a bunch of wishing.

Maybe upon arriving, the ninja incapacitate Kur, so she can't use her powers anymore.

Maybe she wreaks havoc amongst the people left there and deliberately causes an issue so that the ninja have to split up and not entirely focus on Rox, who's doing other things.

Maybe she gets close to hurting the ninja, but every time something intervenes like a wish or an attack o̶r p̶l̶ot̶ a̶r̶m̶o̶u̶r̶.

Of course, in the end, Rox and Kur will ultimately succeed by overpowering the ninja, and that would show both the ninja and us-the audience- that the F5 truly are a threat and shouldn't be treated lightly.

They shouldn't be tackling them all one by one, all on their own. Instead, they should unite and work together to deafeat them. Y'know, the whole 'only unity can save us' thing could be once again incorporated into the story.

Idk how to end this post. If there are any questions, I'll hopefully answer them, and of course, I hope that this was a clear enough explanation.

Wymack meets Andrew when he's still a kid.

Drew braces himself for the jeers and whispers as he walks up to the playing field the next weekend. But nothing happens. Rory is obviously keeping it up his sleeve for now.

Drew finds out why at half time.

Rory walks up to him with a superior look on his face.

"The talent scouts watch all the finals every year," he states matter of factly. "They take notes even on our grade. They want to see who stands out, who to watch. But I'm going to get that scholarship, and you're not going to stop me."

He doesn't even mention the secret. But Drew can guess what he has in mind: take a dive in the final game, or I'll tell everyone.

Coach couldn't help with this one, not really. He'd said it himself - "I could haul his ass in and yell at him, but what's that going to do? If he wants to tell people, he will."

So Drew does the only thing he can do - resigns himself to the inevitable. It's going to come out, and he'll forever be seen as the freak. He tells himself to think of it as practice for the trial.

But Rory doesn't have to know that. As long as he believes he has a hold over Drew, Drew can keep stringing him along.

"How did practice go?"

"He hasn't told anybody yet," Drew answered.

Coach sighs. "I'm not sure if that's better or worse."

"I can handle Rory."

Smiling faintly at his bravado, Coach says: "I hope so. Because there are other teams. I mean if it comes down to that or a nervous breakdown."

"Dr Nakagami thinks I'm doing well."

"So do I. But when I saw you holding that gun..." he tails away helplessly.

"I wasn't thinking anything like that. I just... wanted to hold it for a while."

Coach nods slowly. He knows what it’s like to want a weapon. There’s a reason he always walks around armed.

Possibly the boy misinterprets his silence. "Your team's going to lose all respect for you when they hear you've taken me on."

Coach tosses a cigarette packet at Drew, his version of a friendly punch on the arm.

"What do I care what people think?"

"You don’t need people to like you?" the kid sounds curious rather than incredulous, as though this is not such a difficult thing to imagine.

"I once had someone who loved me," Coach smiles, and for a moment his voice is unrecognisable. The gruff worn face almost seems to glow. "Sometimes one is all you need."

Rory has always been a top athlete. But now he's playing like a demon, some of his stats even beating the senior grades.

Coach tries to hide his excitement over Rory's performance, but it's impossible. He's so proud Drew starts wondering if he really should take himself out of the competition.

These thoughts evaporate the moment Rory opens his mouth.

In the last few weeks before the finals their rivalry approaches the point of war. They make it almost to the last game before the confrontation finally happens.

The Packers cheer madly for Drew when he pulls off an almost impossible intercept, which gets Rory so incensed he shoves a finger in Drew’s face as soon as they're alone.

"I've been training for this for years. You're not going to push me out of my one big chance."

Drew stares up at him, almost triumphant now. "You think I'm going to take a dive for you? You think knowing my secret puts me on a leash? Well go ahead, tell everyone."

Angrily he pushes Rory, who immediately shoves back.

"Yeah, that’s right! Go ahead!"

"What the hell are you talking about?" Rory demands. "Tell everyone what?"

"What Coach told you, about what happened to me," Drew answers, but he's uncertain now.

Rory stares at him disgustedly. "You think I want to be known for spreading rumours that some trailer-trash hit you?"

"Hit me," Drew repeated. He shouldn't really have been surprised. Even the social workers didn't want to believe what they saw and heard, half the time.

"Then why have you been threatening me all season? Telling me not to even try?"

"I've just been telling you they’ll pick me. That's just a fact." Rory shifts uncomfortably. "Coach told me in confidence. You don't know anything about me if you think I'd betray that."

They glare at each other. Whatever they might have been about to say next is lost as a voice calls out to them.

"Coach wants us all inside right away. Emergency meeting."

"Why? What's going on?"

"Noah is missing."
