Behold if you dare: My beautiful, horrible imagining of (part of) the Dashcon 2 Ballpit Duel

The Duel

Strange stepped into the ballpit, plastic balls rattling around her feet as she waded in. Thursday coiled around her neck like some macabre scarf, the heavy weight of the long furby a reassurance. 

Her eyes darted around the vast, empty ballroom, devoid of anything except a scattering of courtiers and of course, the ballpit. 

Her opponent was late. 

“Where the fuck is he?” she whispered, quietly enough that only Thursday could hear. 

The long furby shifted slightly as he projected his response into her mind with his psychic powers. 

Patience. They’ll be here soon enough. 

“She’d better be,” Strange grumbled. 

Have you considered that maybe you’re early? Thursday pointed out.

Strange took a moment to glance around the ballroom. The very empty ballroom, with no sign of her opponent, the majority of the Royal Court, or the Ballpit Queen herself.

Ok, so maybe Thursday was right.

“Fuck you,” she whispered half-heartedly to the long furby.

So Strange stood there with Thursday. Watching every person who drifted through the vast ballroom, looking for it. 

Waiting. 

The Ballpit Queen arrived before her enemy did, surrounded by courtiers like she was the most dazzling light and they were but helpless moths.

Ha. He really was late now.

But luckily for him, the Queen was in no rush to start the proceedings.

Which left her with nothing to do but keep her eyes trained on the door, and wait.

Strange knew it the second he walked in the door. Knew this wasn’t the attire of a cosplaying courtier, that this was the real deal. 

6 inch heels clicked across the concrete floor as he advanced. Her suit was the deep purple of a fresh bruise, his shirt a green so dark it was almost black. 

The bright flower on their lapel would have caught Strange’s eye, if her attention hadn’t been drawn by his special hat. Eyes as green as her own stared out from within the red lips of Kermit the Frog’s likeness. 

At the edge of the ballpit he unstrapped the baby carrier thing she had strapped to his chest and gently put it down, displaying a reverent care for the cumstained plushie it contained. 

Strange resisted the urge to roll her eyes as her opponent wasted more precious time muttering to that lifeless effigy of Kermit the Frog. 

Finally, they stepped into the ballpit. 

For what felt like eons they watched each other, neither wanting to make the first move. 

Strange eyed her nemesis, taking in what it had brought to their duel. A joker gun rested on one hip, his pool noodle sword on the other. 

Strange’s hand twitched towards her own pool noodle, but didn’t draw it. Yet. 

This close, she could see something that appeared to be dripping from her enemy’s mouth, beneath the special hat. A dribble of… her first instinct had been to call it blood, but it was far too dark, and decidedly the wrong texture. 

Black goop, then. A dribble of black goop. 

Gross, but it was excellent to see that her dark and twisted emo spells were still paying off. 

Strange smiled, her grin as twisted as her spine. 

“Sir Croaker,” she said, breaking the silence and acknowledging her opponent by name. 

For a moment he was silent. 

“Sir Strange,” the Croaker eventually relented. 

Strange’s hand finally closed around her pool noodle. The Croaker mirrored her action, but neither of them drew. Yet.

The Ballpit Queen was here, but the duel still needed an officiator.

A sudden chill swept through the crowd now surrounding them, as something new arrived to the duel.

The laughter of a thousand clown breeds echoed around the room. Balls started to rise from the pit of their own accord. A faint stink of piss drifted through the air.

Suddenly, the laughter stopped. The balls dropped back down. The piss smell disappeared.

An intern staggered up to the edge of the ballpit, something great and terrible lurking behind her haunted eyes.

The spirit of Dashcon 2 was here.

The Ballpit Queen nodded imperiously.

“Let the duel commence.” the spirit of Dashcon 2 intoned.

Remus is sitting in an armchair doubled over with laughter. Sirius has fallen out of his chair and is cackling on the floor with tears in his eyes from laughing so hard. Regulus is sitting on the couch trying his best to stay composed. And James in standing in the middle of the room with more passion and fire in his eyes than Regulus has ever seen.

“Hold on! Hold on! Hold on!” James is shouting.

“James—” Regulus tries to calmly interrupt.

“HOLD ON!” James looks pointedly at Regulus and his eyes look like they’re going to literally pop out of his head. “Her sister was a witch, right?” Regulus is trying so hard to hold back his laughter. “And what was her sister? A princess! The Wicked Witch of the East, Reg.” James is yelling, not unkindly just very passionately, looking directly at Regulus and nodding his head aggressively to emphasize every point.

James starts pacing in genuine distress. Sirius is rolling on the floor holding his stomach and laughing so hard his entire body is shaking. Remus has his hands over his mouth, which is doing absolutely nothing to contain his laughter.

Regulus stands up to meet James in the middle of the room. “I’m gonna stab him.” He mumbles under his breath, which makes Sirius laugh even harder—if that’s even possible.

James whips around to face Regulus. “You’re gonna looks at me and you’re gonna tell me that I’m wrong? Am I wrong?” James asks emphatically.

And the thing is—James is, in fact, very wrong. “It’s my favorite—” Regulus tries to interject but can’t even get a word in.

“She wore a crown, and she came down in a bubble, Reg!” And that proves absolutely nothing.

Regulus knows he’ll never get James to listen to him. “I’m not fighting with you.” He shakes his head, chuckling fondly.

James makes his way out of the living room. “Grow up!” He says over his shoulder.

“I’m not fighting with you.” Regulus says again.

“Grow up.” James seems to be losing steam as he leaves the room.

“Get educated!” Regulus yells then flops down on the couch and finally lets his laughter out.

Eventually Regulus, Sirius and Remus’ laugher fades into soft chuckles as they calm down and take several deep breaths to compose themselves.  

It’s a few minutes later when James appears in the doorway with a sheepish look on his face—that Regulus thinks is adorable. He slowly makes his way over to the couch and sits down beside Regulus. He’s quiet for a few moments then turns slightly to look at Regulus.   

“I’m not really mad.” James says in a small voice. “And you know I love you, right?”

Regulus chuckles fondly and takes James’ face in his hands. “Yes, I know you love me, Jamie.” He leans in to kiss James softly then pulls back the tiniest bit. “But you’re still wrong.” Regulus whispers against James lips.

Incorrect, the fact that Biden has dropped out and a candidate with history of supporting medicare for all and being more receptive to a ceasefire in the I/P conflict has made me go from "I cannot morally support the Democratic nominee" to "I am voting for the Democratic nominee despite the fact she isn't perfect in every respect." I'm really happy this played out. The Dems for the most part abandoned the old Obama platform and it feels like its possible an actual progressive agenda could come to pass in my lifetime.

Ok Sky and Hyrule

I have tried forever to write up a good Sky and Hyrule post. I wanna clarify their relationship because it is kind of hard to make sense of, and I've had several ask after I mentioned my thinking that they have issues in this post. However I am tired and just want the thoughts out there, so I'm just gonna give a low-effort post with a bunch of screenshots. Read. Have fun.

Hyrule is very stubborn and Sky is very stubborn. They do not vibe. The clearest starting point of them butting heads was in divine dark reflections when Hyrule showed his ability to get ahead of himself and left Sky behind, something Sky does not take kindly too.

They fight with opposite hands, which isn't a problem when Hyrule is fighting with Wars for example, but with Sky they don't fight well together and clash.

We don't see these two clash that much bc they are both very friendly people! So I think them actively scowling at each other after they bumped elbows is pretty telling. They have beef with each other ok.

HOWEVER for the positive aspects of their irritatingly-ambiguous relationship, their main point of bonding is the master sword. Yeah. bc Hyrule can wield it and Sky falls in love /plat lol with anyone who compliments it

They also both like to joke around/prank others, so they have that in common too yay!

AnD ANothEr thING! Sky can be Very judgy about appearance, and those traits obviously carried over into lu from sksw canon. Whereas Wars showed respect towards Hyrule despite him not being a knight, we never got that from Sky. What internal thoughts does Sky have about the humble traveler?

Sky can tend to be prideful, and Hyrule absolutely could not be prideful. Rulie is still confident in who he is! Firecracker boy. Also they both can have tempers and are stubborn.

Random note: Hyrule thinks himself incapable compared to the knights, but in the discord Jojo mentioned at one point that she thought Hyrule could hold his own in a fight against Sky due to his own skill set. No. Sharing. Discord. Documents. Outside. Of. There. Casual mention only. Mhmm. So I think this is ok. I'm gonna set the discord rules as my wallpaper I check them so often. anyways.

Also please note that I am NOT hating on either of the babies, I love them very much and BOTH have flaws in their relationship with the other. The thing that's so hard about Sky and Hyrule's relationship is that they are both so very friendly it's hard to discern. They're two nice guys who wanna chill! But they do not chill or vibe with the other, most of the time Sky and Hyrule are not commonly hanging out. Yeah there ya go, Sky and Hyrule ramble. Bye!

I spent the night catching up on reading some fic after taking a bit of a breather to focus on writing and omg, it felt SO GOOD. The amount of TALENT in this fandom is unreal. Un. Real. For the past few hours I've been immersed in so many different worlds featuring my favorite characters and it was BREATHTAKING.

And now I'm sitting here thinking about how much fun that was and how I need to do that more often because oh my god the EXHILARATION truly I am just LIVING right now. I felt SO MANY EMOTIONS and I didn't even leave my couch?!

And it's so cool because I was reading one fic and losing my mind over it and mid-way through I went "wow, I want to write a fic Like That." Because it stirred a kind of emotion in me and I'd love to stir that kind of emotion in others and it's got my brain buzzing in a new way I doubt it would have buzzed on its own had I not read that fic and it's just SO. COOL. how creativity begets more creativity and how we all inspire each other.

And it's all because we found This Show and loved it and couldn't let it go, and there are still countless stories to be told and universes to play in and it's SO EXCITING and I love you all and I'm so grateful.

I did like how Jun seemed to be feeling more confident around his sexual power with Sorn, but I want him to flex that more.

Sorn's so inconsistent in how much he seems attuned to Jun's needs during sex. Sometimes he seems really focused on Jun and then other times he is completely into getting off and doesn't seem to get that Jun doesn't look to be into it. Is this under negotiated kink where they both like the fight/resistance part? They made a reference as though they did basically the same the night before. Or does Jun not know yet he can tell Sorn to fuck off with that shit?

I can enjoy this drama best when it feels like they are on equal footing. Even with Sorn being older and bossy, it really is only in these moments when Jun seems to not be into what they are doing sexually that I feel that imbalance and am not cool with it.

Granted, it all seems like what they are getting at is that Sorn really doesn't get Jun or what he feels or wants, as much as he may try and I could believe he totally thinks they are both into this dynamic. If that's the case, then Sorn is the one who needs some instruction in sex.

first off i was ecstatic, pointing at my tv screen and making the loudest of radar screeches bc HES ALIVE!! LIKE WHAT HUH!! ITS SPANGTOM!! Hello splatman how have u been??

first reactions was like damn tenna you're a freak (affectionate), keeping one of your ex's little eggs(?) after you've been broken up for heaven knows how long like girl get a grip you have got to get over him

BUT THEN !! the dealmaker!! (which is so cool! does it work with the puppetscarf as well? i have questions and it's too early to call)

i love how he can emerge from the dealmaker as his good ol puppet self (yesss!! called it!! but it was more hopeful headcanons at the time), like the last we saw of him being able to move around in his dealmaker form, he was just headed into your inventory (shown by the little sparkle) but nope! we get a full sized state of the art in the flesh spamton. which. blew me away. happy to see it. happy to see our little rat creature up and kicking.

was even funnier when tenna freaked out and he just kinda stood there. like, dude is living his best life (or as good as it can get at this point), seeing his ex be like "it's over for me 😔 i would even take that little mailman.. 😔" he must be feeling like "damn and i thought i was desperate"

but then "DONT YOU RECOGNIZE..." uhm yeah that hurt. a little. aha. mayhaps even a lot. ouch, actually. wow. rough, buddy. for reasons that are just too ouch to think of.

but then he gets sprayed in the face with foam so it's all better. like a nice [[insulation]]-flavored bandage :')

the "okay" from ralsei just is icing on the cake. overall a 10/10 scene, wouldn't have done a spamton return any differently.

this further makes me headcanon the 30% increase from the dealmaker in the battles are just Spamton taking form and taking the enemies' wallets.
