When I was in my teens, I used to make an entire magic system with 360+ unique spells, ordered in magic schools and categories, and it boggles my mind that I basically reinvented DnD mechanics, even down to metamagic.

I wanted to make a wiki about it but I don't have time for it.

The point was to try to encompass every "superpower" I could think of into a magic system.

I even got lore related to it all, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna simply reuse it all for OC worldbuilding. Ngl the fun part was naming all the spells, symbols and coming up with the logic of it all.

(As someone who has a minor in art history, it's likely this isn't really renaissance art - this is more in the style of John Singer Sargent and other later artists. I'd look into him and other realists/impressionists if you're interested and like this moodboard!)

The fact that Wolf-fangs don't have wings raises some interesting questions about the history and evolution of dragons. Wolf-fangs still have fire holes and other things that indicate a common ancestor, so did they lose their wings at some point, or did wings evolve in other species later? If wings happened later then that might mean that different dragon species might have evolved wings separately, which would be a fascinating case of convergent evolution--

i think part of the reason why matt and frank are such a compelling pairing to me is because they're so complex and they're truly the only people that could come close to understanding each other

like they both are driven by a sense of honor and have a strong moral compass, but they try to disguise their vulnerability from each other (and the world) and fail because they can see right thru it

ex. in born again 1x4 frank knows it's all about foggy even if matt can't say it

and he comforts him the only way he knows how: by letting him express his pain as violence of which frank is the willing recipient

I understand that literature nerd Jason Todd is kind of overblown in fanon compared to it's actual presence in canon (a few issues during his pre (and post?)crisis Robin tenure that highlight it) BUT consider that I think it's hilarious if the unhinged gun toting criminal has strong opinions on poetry

I just noticed, in your HHStargazers AU no one has pupils - except for Alastor and, if she's canon, Carmilla. Does that mean slit pupils are a sign of a demon in disguise?

Good eye! 👈👈👀 (Pun unintended.) Though I don't really plan for this trait to be repeatedly shared amongst the disguised demons. Mostly to not limit my designs to an obvious tell. But the slit pupils were indeed intentional flaws I added in for those two in particular. Because according to MY headcanon, both angels and demons are beings beyond human comprehension. Thus, it's only to be expected that even when they TRY to fit in, they'll be unable to keep EVERY aspect of their uncanny nature concealed. At best, they're imperfect imitations of what "normal" should be. It just so happens that in my AU, angels have a much easier time concealing most of their little quirks and oddities away than the sinners for my own reasons and as for WHY no one ever grew suspicious of the eye thing, it's because Charlie's curiosity could be easily curved. While for Lucius to point this out, he'll have to admit that he's been staring at Alastor's eyes a lot whenever he gets close enough to drown in the depths of his gaze and- EHEM!!! Which he's NEVER done, mind you! AhahaHAH- What slit pupils??? Never noticed those before. Nuh-uh. NO siree. NOPE! Lucius is normally so, SO normal about Alastors VERY much normal eyes in a TOTALLY normal amount of normal. A-ANYWAAAYS!!! Lucius would also be a hypocrite if he was bothered by them considering his own occupation and the people he's usually surrounded by (yet to be revealed). As for the other humans, Alastor doesn't care enough about their opinions for it to be a threat to him and people often just avoid the guy unnerving them with his creepy ass stare. So it's all good! Hope you like these bonus fun facts! 'Cause I have a feeling I left you with just as much questions as answers, but that's the fun of an ongoing story, yeah? Stay tuned~! 😉✨️ -Bubbly💙

wait hold on hang on 911 Star Wars au????????? oh my god I wanna read (or hear about) that so bad!!!!

Yess hi hello, welcome! Star Wars AU is a brand new venture (and like 80% @emphasisonthehomo's fault) and I love that I get to start posting about it on May 4th lol.

It's mostly a series of ideas at the moment rather than a cohesive fic for now. I suspect it will end up being a monster so we'll see what happens.

I don't know how into Star Wars lore everyone is (hopefully the actual fic will be friendly enough to non-star wars nerds to still enjoy), but here's a little bit of a lore drop if you're interested:

Set sometime in the years between Episode 3 and 4 (so around the same time as Andor, Jedi Fallen Order/Suvirvor, and parts of Rogue One as reference for anyone playing at home), Bobby's an ex-Jedi who's collected a hodgepodge of force users to help train and keep safe on his ship. And Buck. Buck is the only non-force user in the fic as of right now (Jury's still out on Karen, Eddie, and Athena I haven't decided yet...).

Bobby was a grey Jedi who's severed himself from the force after he was swayed to the dark side post Order 66 and who swore he's not the one to be teaching anybody. Of course the Force had different plans for him...

Hen is very strong with the living force, making her highly emphetic with a knack for Force healing (and also regular healing), but her emotion ties to the Force make it hard for her always stay in control and she's often wary to use her force powers unless absolutely necessary.

Chim gets force visions and premonitions. It means he's often keyed in to what the rest of the crew is doing or thinking about even if he plays it off. Chim's watching you... It also means he tends to have strange dreams, including dream conversations and visions of one missing in action Maddie Buckley.

Maddie has telemetry, the ability to access memories and emotions from items and echoes left in the force. It's a rare, highly valuable ability and made her a prime target to getting scooped up by the Inquisitors pre-fic canon.

Buck's not force sensitive and instead makes up for it by being more tech proficient. He helps maintain the ship, it's tools, and has a massive soft spot for droids. He's been searching for Maddie since they were separated and with Chim's help they've finally narrowed down her location to a dangerous nebula. One they have no hope of navigating on their own.

Unless they find a really good pilot.

You'll never guess who's the really good pilot Chim knows...

Meanwhile, Eddie is a Mandolorian bounty hunter hired to catch Bobby and the other force users aboard the 118, but in following them (or specifically Buck and Tommy), Eddie is starting to think maybe he could have more in his life than cold space, and fear. Especially since his son Chris has started showing signs of being force sensitive as well...

So uh yeah. Many thoughts! Very little to show for it as of yet but... Watch this space I guess...

a closed starter for @slickvinyl / athena and imani are paired up for a physiology presentation in which athena mainly flirts (but also is a giant nerd).

“you’re lucky i thoroughly enjoy overachieving … and you're cute,” athena said, tapping the edge of her notebook with the end of her pen, lips curling into a smirk. “i outlined the whole presentation since you missed lab this week. and yes, i fixed your… creative interpretation of cardiac flow. i’m keeping the phrase ‘heart yeets blood’ though. iconic, truly.” she leaned back in her chair, fingers idly tracing the rim of her tea cup as her gaze flickered over imani without a hint of shame. “also,” she added, voice dipping just slightly, “did you know giraffes have a left ventricle wall over an inch thick? they need that much pressure just to pump blood all the way up their necks to reach the brain. and when they bend down to drink, they’ve got this whole network of valves that keeps the pressure from frying their brains. it’s called the rete mirabile. isn’t that kind of romantic?” a beat passed, but athena wasn’t done. “oh, and elephant hearts? nearly thirty pounds. their heartbeat is so slow you can feel it in the ground before you ever hear them coming.” she tilted her head, her smile softening just enough to make it dangerous. “anyway,” she said, tone light, “i figured if i couldn’t win you over with charm, i’d try obscure cardiovascular trivia. is it working?”

Mods are asleep. *Gasp* Seliph Cookie in CRK⁉️⁉️/jk. Anyway, here are some details in progress for the artwork.  

So first, I try to find the ingredients that perfectly match Seliph. Because his color palette is mostly dominant blue, I can only think about blueberry-based food or butterfly pea flowers. This one is limited because it only blue color matches and for drink like tea. So I chose it as a berry fruit cake instead.

The initial draft I made a while ago still looks very off and maybe a bit too detailed. The second sketch is simplified, and the face is adjusted to the bottom for a bit to make him more similar to the CRK style. Coloring the lineart is also a very important part of mimicking the artstyle like you noticed it, right?

Still not sure about the Ovenbreak one, though maybe later I might have to draw more for how his skill activation works. Is it going to be a button mash or dogdge kind of thing? If you have a suggestion or idea, feel free to say it! But for the pet, it is still sticking to the berry theme, but the items inspired by fe4 loot (e.g Paragon ring, and Valkyrie Staff).

Am I'm going to turn these into a series? If my mood back I would like to do other fe characters.

They eventually find out she’s Dragonborn because of her ability to use the Way of The Voice so easily, or something. Paarthurnax takes an interest in this child, and so she stays at the Throat of the World, until Alduin returned.

Just imagine how much trauma Leara would avoid if she was raised by the Greybeards? It'd be so beautiful. Dragon Dad could be her actual dad.

looking at course selection for next semester (already???). one thing i miss about undergraduate is that the requirements were so much less specialized and you could take things across a broader range of interests. obviously that is the point of grad school and i have decided to focus on 19th century america and i'm not upset about that but I'm also like. i wish i could take readings in the history of the catholic church or cultural memory in early islam.
