God, I was getting annoyed with some choices the writers started making a bit after the halfway point of Batgirl (2000), only to be informed that this was pretty much exactly when Kelley Puckett stopped writing.

i think so too. already was autisic at length over the snowgrave stuff so i will say that its very telling to me that a bunch of the susie noelle dialogue is about kris and ralsei. The way that im reading the situation is that noelle misses kris, but doesn't want to, presumably because of whatever traumatic inciting incident happened years ago.

i used to see the "noelle sees susie as a Dess expy" as a reach and a way to shoehorn unnecessary darker undertones but im not so sure anymore, especially with the guitar stuff. Susie has never even hinted at being interested in playing the guitar, and she sucks at it. to boot we then learn she was interested in the code which is probably a chunk of why she agreed to play it.

Im not saying that susie and noelle don't get along at all. their shenanigans with the soul trapped in the angel doll were very charming. But something else that stands out to me is that some things susie says seem to get a lot of confusion out of noelle. Like when she eats the flower and offers to give her the stem, or when she calls the juice at church blood. I've had this concept for a long time that Noelle is infatuated with the idea of Susie rather than actual Susie, and her bafflement at Susie's weird quirks feeds into that. I am more receptive to the idea that she's mentally comparing her to Dess now as well.

There is this persistent theme of "saying i love you without saying i love you"- noelle has kris as one of her wallpapers, she named her cactus after kris, she doesn't mind that kris takes one of her pencils, she is the only character to recognise that kris is different openly and show a lot of concern over that (no shade to the kris and susie friendship, since kris does a lot of nice things toward susie of their own volition, but susie can't reasonably distinguish what is them and what is the player). Its kind of a mirror to susie telling ralsei she's willing to fight fate itself to have him by her side. I find those gestures of care more significant as a basis for a romantic relationship than the hangout. I hope kris and noelle are set up to speak about what happened in a more cathartic way, as it sometimes feel like both of them want to, but aren't sure of how to do so, which is very 17 year old tormented yuri of them lmfao

how does code work? like, how does he come back and stuff? (im new and confused)

Basically, in his story, he made a deal with the player so he can get the power of determination. On his case, it works differently than it is on the game but, just like Frisk, he can come back to life after death. But while Frisk's is just "Go back to the save point" his is more of a play on the timelines, and it would use a "if-else" conditional statements. (I promise it will make sense) It would work something like this:

With timelines, we have the idea that every action we take will branch into new timelines, where different things could have had happened thanks to the decision we take. (Butterfly effect) Code's thing is that, when he dies, the game would read different possibilities that could have happened instead and apply those to the current timeline. So for exemple: Code died because he was standing here If he was standing there, he wouldn't have died So his determination will make the first condition false and will replace it with the second. So when Code returns to life he'll be standing there, and alive. So what "if-else" conditional statements got to do with any of these? It's basically the same explanation but with a more meta view to it. if-else conditional statements are basically this:

whats your process for writing scripts? specifically the ones with the giant corkboards. im trying to write a video essay myself, and im not sure how to go about it

Good question! It really changes from video to video. but typically, it begins broad and then gets narrowed down to little details.

I open a google doc and put the vague concept for the video up top. From there i outline out the things i want to cover, listing out the more narrow concepts, like an outline, and then fill out the spaces under them whenever i think of something. Like, I might think of a line or a joke or a detail and then open the doc and put it under the right heading.

This means that the video is almost never written in order, it's written at the whims of whatever i happen to be thinking about on a given day, or whatever detail I uncover accidentally in my research that I realize NEEDS to be added or placed in a specific section.

Somewhere during this process, i'm thinking about props and set design, and so i add color-coded notes to the script in appropriate places, usually purple notes for something i put on the screen in my edit, and orange or blue for a physical item I hold up when I say a specific line.

At this point, the framing device starts to form. In this instance, it would be a corkboard. So I go through the script, one thing at a time, and add a color-coded line next to each spoken line indicating what needs to be added to the corkboard. I also might have a separate doc or a canva file where I plan out everything I need on the corkboard in the end, so I could then distribute those elements through the script.

The thing is, though, I don't do any of this in the order listed above specifically. Everything is being done at once, from researching to writing to planning out makeup and costumes to planning out the corkboard. But it averages out to at least an hour or two every day, split up throughout the day.

An additional tip I have is to also have a notepad on your phone, SEPARATE from your google doc, to write down jokes or lines or ideas if you think of them away from your computer. Do NOT read through your script before you do it, just add the idea to the phone notepad, and then leave it there for a while. And once every few days, go through the notepad and decide which ideas should be added to the doc and where, and then empty the notepad out. Sometimes when you are staring at a single document, you end up getting stale, or only thinking of ideas related to the stuff in the doc. so having a separate space to just stick stuff helps me ensure I'm adding new ideas and details that might be more out of left field.

I also recommend talking to friends about your ideas in a phonecall or discord call, out loud, regularly. When you explain stuff to people, your brain is able to think of shortcuts in efficiently delivering information. It is easy, when you sit down and write a massive video, to accidentally write 3 paragraphs where 1 would be fine, because we don't write the way we speak out loud. In verbal conversation, we are more direct (usually, in my experience, at least). You also will likely come up with jokes when talking to your friends, because you are relaxed and just chatting about something you enjoy, and that is where the gold is. You want to write those jokes down immediately in your little phone notepad. Trust me, it is easier to come up with video jokes when chatting with friends than it is when you are staring at a script begging yourself to be funny or witty.

Jax isn’t the biggest fan of physical affection, he can but there’s a limit to how much he’ll tolerate.

Being shown your affection by handmade gifts? Well, he’s not used to receiving stuff like this but it’s an absolute breath of fresh air to the idea of being touched all the time.

If you’re his s/o then he’s a lot nicer about the stuff you make him, even if he doesn’t know what it is or have a use for it. (you could gift this bitch a rock with googly eyes and pipe cleaners and he’d still thank you and display it in his room, but in the back of his head he’s questioning what the hell this is and why you’re giving it to him)

If you aren’t dating yet then he’ll still accept the gifts but he’s more forward in asking what something is if he’s unsure. Which could sound like a genuine question or a flat-out rude statement, really depends.

Clothing and accessories are his favorite gifts because not only does he get to look snazzy, but he gets to show them off and rub it in other people’s faces that not only does he look bitchin’ but it’s you who made it for him.

He’s not typically vain but your clothing and accessories make his pride skyrocket.

Jax has zero creative crafting skills but he’ll often toss out an idea for something matching, usually something simple like an accessory but he’ll avoid matching rings. It feels too intimate, similar to certain other matching-themed items.

Now if you manage to rope him into making something with you, IE you supplying it and just sitting there making something together but separately.

The most this boy can make is a bead bracelet, the knot is awful so you’ll have to fix it later when he’s not looking. But hey, you get a one-of-a-kind Jax bracelet that looks like a child teenager made it. (he doesn’t have the patience for anything fancier)

Aside from clothing, Jax also favours any art stuff, especially if it’s of him. Since they won’t get as seen in his room he’s taken to displaying some of them around the tent with a not-so-vague threat that if anything happened to them he’d make sure the punishment followed the crime. (no Caine, you don't get to have an opinion, the picture is staying)

His favourite works stay safely in his room though, you don’t know it but he likes to look at them when he’s missing you. ew emotions

It doesn’t compare skill-wise, but Jax does occasionally try and gift you something in return.

Gangle somehow managed to rope Jax into joining her when crafting one time, saying it would be a nice little surprise to make something for you. (she was just lonely, she feels bad using you as an excuse like that but it worked!)

Once in a blue moon he’ll join Gangle to make you something, it’s a miracle Gangle puts up with him because his frustrations get a little wild for no reason. (he’s like a grumpy toddler in need of a nap time when he gets upset over crafting, man has no patience for the glue to dry)

first off i want to start saying that i cant shake the feeling that umemiya and shitara share the same personality in the sense that they act all friendly and goofy to protect others from unnecessary trouble, like if we're talking about how umemiya acts i can tell he somehow copied or adapted himself to shitara's sense of responsability when it comes to emotional support

then there's that conversation shitara has with the other caretaker about the old furin, and i did get the feeling that shitara was talking about himself in some way, tho i wasnt sure if he had been a furin student, but just some acquaintance to the people there. him being a former student makes sense given that he knows a lot about furin insights and takes responsability on what they do around town

i can see shitara playing a major role in the future, but since the last time qe saw him was when umemiya was 14 years old, i hardly think we will see him again, OR as you pointed out, when umemiya graduates.

if im not wrong, it has been aprox five months (?) sicne sakura entered furin, so i think we're close to that

the one person i really dont think will appear again is umemiya's savior. why? because he couldn't see his face, it wasnt shown, we didnt got a name, not even a nickname, and as you were saying, he's an adult probably out of town that will never appear again

it will be one hell of a twist if the savior happens to be related to someone else, like being suo's martial artist brother or sakura's acquaintance, but i hardly believe he will appear again. yes he was influential in the story, and yes he shared with us some very important information about the old furin, but that was his role at the moment, and the story was going on about umemiya and shitara.

so, yes, shitara will probably appear again in some important scene, and no, the savior will probably not appear ever again

and IF we're talking about a third party, the other guy shitara and the savior mentioned, I hardly believe they will give us more insight on this. there's still a high chance this will get more focus in the series as the events starts to unfold in something more large. i think, if anything, nirei can crack the code of this mysterious saviors and the old furin secrets, I believe in my notebook guy!! (tho I really like how you connected the "serious/calm and goofy/loud" duo, it makes total sense)

OTHER THING THAT I REALIZED I THOUGHT YOUVE POINTED OUT BUT TURNS OUT I JUST IMAGIEND was that shitara and the other girl mention that because of all the gangs messing up the town the police had turned a blind eye to all these and left the town without doing their proper job, so that lefts us with no reliable adults available to put a stop to those crimes. there's no teachers in furin even tho its a school. the townsfolk rely on the furin boys. there's hardly any picture of parents anywhere, not even in conversations. shitara is the first adult to be relied on by someone in the entire series, and i think that alone says a lot about the guy and the future of the series in general.

Either the Reader is mute and they (characters) don't know/understand sign language or they somehow lost their voices on their transmigration to Teyvat and can only write now. But the characters are left trying to decipher what the Reader wrote.

My first door encounter was Sophie, which start my Sam journey as a single father. Since im not a huge horror game person (huge coward) i pretty much ran away from everything. Fredrick, i love his story, i dont know if i made the right choice sparing that faceless thing tho. But I smell a twist from the very beginning so i do not believe the "normal" fred at all. im having a brain time related to an unpleasant anniversary and have been churning through my stacks of weird little paperbacks. i am in the bad habit of picking up cheap interesting-looking older scifi and fantasy and then not touching them for years on end. the trouble with loving scifi and fantasy as a genre is that most of it is not very good. u gotta wade through a lot of chaff to find one thing that sort of delivers on its premise.

unrelated to all of that, ive had a little stack of cold war and wwii spy paperbacks sitting around since i bought them in high school. these have been with me through So many moves. unfortunately i have only enjoyed one of them, Peter O'Donnell's Modesty Blaise novel I, Lucifer.

i did not know anything about ms. blaise before reading this sixties spy/thriller but it was catnip to me. it has not aged particularly well, but the stuff per chapter is very high. lots of the latest and greatest sixties Cool Stuff- amateur parachuting competitions, trained dolphins, paranormal and ESP cognitive tests, impersonating american tourists for fun and profit, packets of industrial diamonds. a genuinely fun and inventive ransom method. evil marionettes? the next time i am in a real used bookstore and not a half price books i will look for more of these little fuckers.

racked up eighteen things on letterboxd this week, mostly bc kanopy had a collection of thirteen betty boop shorts. the one that tickled my fancy the most was Bimbo's Initiation (1931). six and a half surreal and horny minutes about secret society and fraternity initiations. the ass slapping machine was a real thing you could buy specifically marketed toward initiations like this.

bc i have nothing but time on my hands i compared a list of my hidden achievements in genshin impact with a list of known hidden achievements and have been knocking them off. some of them were embarrassingly easy and i do not know how i missed them. i do have a fat stack of commission-related hidden achievements (somehow the only nation whose commission-related hidden achievements i have completely finished is the new nation. i have been playing this game for almost five years since 1.0. augh). there are a ton of co-op achievements that i don't think i'm ever going to rack up bc i don't generally play co-op but like. that's fine. there are 1428 known achievements so i think 1273 is pretty fuckin good.

sometimes i have a problem: loose threads, hang tags, etc on clothes bother the fuck out of me but i don't do anything about it bc i can never find scissors and if the kitchen scissors leave the kitchen i will never ever remember to put them back in the kitchen. the solution is getting rid of the friction involved with finding scissors and remembering to put loose threads in the garbage where my cats can't eat them and remembering to put the scissors away. too many steps! too much friction! i have reappropriated a little garbage can from my office to the laundry room and added scissors on a command hook. this will also help stop lint from piling up on top of the dryer. the second set of scissors is inside my closet, where i have command stripped up a pretty tea tin for a tiny garbage basket.

another extremely annoying thing/minor problem: i've had to wash my couch covers a lot lately. this is fine. they are designed to go through hell. however, bc i made them myself from giant dropcloths and just kind of tuck them in, it is hard to tell what the correct placement is on the couch.

there are vanishingly few practical applications for embroidery. i initially stem stitched the SHORT and chain stitched the LONG and then hated how the stem stitch looked a little messier, so i ripped it out and redid it. front & back below, there are dabs of fraychek on the knots to help them survive the wash a bit better.

i'll do the other futon cover too eventually but the couch cover has needed more frequent washing lately and was a little more of a priority. these were all extremely minor things that felt very silly to do but they did solve minor annoyances. yay.

I also feel you got to see ambroius' personality better there...hes so cocky..and this might sound weird but ballister looks older in the book i feel...idk something about him in the movie makes him look baby which im not complaining about i love how he looks in the film with all his cat coding....strunkly lil guy

I think the og was kinda setting up the fact that they grew apart by the end and nimona needs time to grow on her own. The flim does this too, but in a different way. Both are very bittersweet. Which i like :3
