not gonna personally comment on the s&c thoughts bc i donât know how to articulate mine, but transcripts arenât a patreon exclusive thing and you can definitely access them on their website. unless you mean patreon members get all the episodes and transcripts in one go then yes thatâs true, but every week when an episode is released a transcript is also released to the public
Sherlock Holmes became an adaptation of an adaptation.
By watching several adaptations, it is possible to see how Holmes' personality begins to change over time, and how some adaptations are very similar to each other, not because they are based on the same book, but because they are based on each other instead of being based on the canon.
For example, the stereotype that Holmes is cold and emotionless, even though in the book Watson indeed says that Holmes is "a machine", Watson still describes him as sensitive, gentle, Holmes compassionate towards the clients who need it most. In addition to the explicit affection he has for Watson and how he respects Watson's feelings.
In older adaptations, Holmes has a personality and attitudes that are more faithful to the books, until the 2000s, Holmes' personality was consistent with the canon.
From the 2000s onwards, the adaptations became increasingly distant from the canon and began to be based on existing versions of the character instead of the canon, and thus a whole new perception of the character was created that did NOT match AT ALL with his original counterpart.
(very long post)
And it's not just Holmes' personality that is affected, but his dynamic with Watson and the history and personality of the other characters ends up being affected. For example, Irene Adler.
Although the interpretation of Irene as Holmes' romantic partner has existed for decades, since the 19th century, and even though she appeared in ONE short story, and was the only woman to beat the great detective, her relevance in having been a woman at that time and having been smarter than Holmes was transformed and reduced to her being Holmes' love interest, BUT even then, there isn't THAT many adaptations where Irene is portrayed this way how people think
First, there is Alice Faulkner, Holmes' romantic partner created by William Gillette, an original character inspired by Irene Adler, but very different from Irene. Holmes helps her and falls in love with her, kinda cute. (almost everyone knows) William Gillette is also responsible for the image of Holmes with the big pipe and the famous phrase never said by the canon Holmes "Elementary, my dear Watson". This is where the first influence on the other adaptations begins.
William Gillette's Holmes inspired the adaptations by Clive Brook and John Barrymore. Brook's version Holmes has a wife like Alice, and Barrymore's version is an adaptation of Gillette's film.
âŒïžThis is all referring specifically to visual media such as movies and tv shows.
From decades before until the 1950s (not included), there is no Irene Adler. Of the more than 30 adaptations, four of them have an original female character as a romantic partner to Holmes. From the 50s to the 80s (not included), there are 30 other film and television adaptations. Where Irene only appears in 1976 in âSherlock Holmes In New Yorkâ with Roger Moore as Holmes, and I believe that this is perhaps the FIRST version where Irene and Holmes really have a romance.
In this movie, half of the time, it is shown how Holmes loves Irene Adler and misses her, until a case ends up taking him to New York, to meet the woman he loves so much, BUT in the end, after he discovers that he has a son with Irene, he simply decides that he cannot stay with her and their son, because he has a whole life in London and cannot leave everything like that. Father of the year.
Before that, of course, there is âThe Private Life of Sherlock Holmesâ in 1970 by Billy Wilder, where he has the character of Gabrielle, which may have been the starting point for Irene Adler's transformation.
There were two adaptations in the 1970s where a man ends up in a type of psychosis that makes him believe he is Sherlock Holmes and a doctor named, by coincidence of course, Watson, and she is the one who helps him. In the first film, âThey Might Be Giants,â Holmes and Dr. Watson fall in love.
At this time, it has the movie âThe Seven Per-Cent Solution,â where Freud helps Holmes overcome his âaversion to womenâ and at the end of the movie, Holmes meets a potential female love interest.
Of all the 33 films from this period [50s-80s], there is ONE movie where Holmes is implicitly homosexual, ONE movie where H&W fall in love, ONE movie where Holmes has an original female romantic partner and ONE movie where Holmes and Irene Adler were a couple.
Irene only appears then in the âSoviet Holmesâ series from (1979), where although it seems that Holmes may have feelings for her, she is not a love interest.
From the 80s to the 2000s (not included), of the almost 40 film and television adaptations, Irene Adler only appears THREE TIMES.
In 1984 in the film with Peter Cushing âThe Mask of Deathâ, where Holmes seems grumpy with the mere presence of Irene and complains about how he lost to a woman. In the same year also Irene appears in âGranada Holmesâ which is probably the most faithful adaptation of the tale of the Scandal in Bohemia.
Irene only appears AGAIN in 1991 in âThe Leading Ladyâ with Christopher Lee, where Irene has no self-respect whatsoever and has only one mission in this movie, which is to marry Holmes. She literally says that she DOESNâT CARE IF HOLMES DOESNâT LOVE HER, she wants to marry him and ends baby trapping him.
In 1994, there was the pilot episode of the series that would be called âBaker Street: Sherlock Holmes Returnsâ, which is a remake of the 1987 pilot episode âThe Return of Sherlock Holmesâ. In the first version, Holmes wakes up from cryogenics and meets Watsonâs granddaughter, Jane, and from her, he learns that it is okay to be gay in the 80s. In the second version, Holmes is found by a doctor named Winslow who falls in love with him, but Holmes shows no interest in her.
In the late 90s, there is âShirley Holmesâ, who is Holmes' great-great-granddaughter-niece (?), her father is a Holmes and her mother is a doctor named Joanne. There is also âMy Dearly Beloved Detectiveâ where H&W kiss, the movie is mainly about love.
From this period, of the three times that Irene appears, only once she is a love interest and other THREE adaptations that put H&W in a romantic position.
So until the 2000s, of the more than one hundred adaptations, Irene is Holmes' love interest ONLY TWICE.
Of about 61 film and series adaptations produced since the 2000s till this day, EIGHT adaptations have Irene Adler as Holmes' romantic partner and another EIGHT adaptations where Holmes has other originals female characters as romantic partners.
And hust because I'm a math teacher:
It's worth noting that the number of adaptations (movies and tv shows) in 25 years is almost equivalent to the number of adaptations (movies and tv shows) in ONE CENTURY.
From the first sample of adaptations (movies and tv shows) from the period 1900-1999, there were 104 adaptations.
Irene as a romantic partner: 2 (± 2%)
Original Female Character: 4 (± 3.8%)
H&W in a romantic situation (corresponding or not, explicit or not): 4 (± 3.8%)
From the second sample of adaptations (movies and tv shows) from the period 2000-2025, there were 61 adaptations.
Irene as a romantic partner: 8 (± 13%)
Original Female Character: 8 (± 13%)
H&W in a romantic situation (corresponding or not, explicit or not): 7 (± 11.5%)
Irene Adler as love interest from the 2000s onwards:
âThe Royal Scandalâ with Matt Frewer, their relationship is implicit, this movie sucks, but other Frewer movies are good, as is Clive Merrison, Frewer is one of the only actors who has a voice that most closely matches the description of Holmes' voice in the canon. Also in the television film âSherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregularsâ, where Irene spends most of the movie disguised as a man, because of course that the ONLY WOMAN Holmes could fall in love with, dresses as a man. And then we have the Robert Downey Jr. films where despite explicitly showing the romantic relationship between Holmes and Irene at the same time it implicitly shows the romantic feelings between Holmes and Watson. And then we have âElementaryâ (2012-2019), âКДŃĐ»ĐŸĐș Đ„ĐŸĐ»ĐŒŃâ (2013), âSherlock Gnomesâ (2018) and the most recent âCBS Watsonâ (Holmes is dead but they still made sure to let us know that Irene and Holmes had an affair.)
So, it was here, in the 2000s that the adaptations really began to change and became adaptations of each other. Holmes lost his personality and became another character. The canon stories were replaced by âfanficsâ of other adaptations. (Irene Adler case)
I consider that three adaptations are mainly responsible for the CURRENT image of Sherlock Holmes, and that it is from these three adaptations that the image that we have (in the contemporary era) of Sherlock Holmes was perpetuated and is the basis for the adaptations produced more recently.
The first is House M.D. (2004-2012). Although the general public does not know that it is based on Sherlock Holmes, House influenced other adaptations, especially the personality that Holmes has today. The cliché of the super-intelligent, cold, calculating, emotionless male character begins here. Even though House is not exactly that trope. The image of Holmes being insensitive to clients/patients, his arrogance and being an ASSHOLE starts in House. Including the way he treats or mistreats Watson/Wilson.
The second adaptation is the Robert Downey Jr. films as Holmes (2009-2011). He turns Holmes into an action hero, which Holmes is not, his personality does not match the canon at all (in these movies, this is not a problem). But the main influence of RDJ Holmes is Holmes as an action hero, and being SLOPPY. He dresses badly and does not keep a clean appearance. It looks like he has not showered in months. I know he STINKS.
And then we have the third adaptation, which is where the adaptations of other adaptations begin: BBC Sherlock (2010-2017). BBC Sherlock could almost be an adaptation of âThe Private of Sherlock Holmesâ considering the amount of similarities and references to Billy Wilder's film and the number of times Moffat and Gatiss said that this was their favorite film and INSPIRATION. BBC Sherlock is set in the modern era as Basil Rathbone's film series was then, it also makes references to the 1965 BBC series with a background appearance by Douglas Wilmer, they made reference to âGranada Holmesâ in âThe Abominable Brideâ. And considering that RDJ Holmes is (I believe) the FIRST adaptation that decided to have Irene Adler working for Moriarty, it can be considered that Irene Adler from BBCSH, besides being an adaptation of Gabrielle from âPrivate Life of Sherlock Holmesâ, is also inspired by Irene from the movie.
Still, controversy, but BBC Sherlock also suffers from the influence of House, mainly in Sherlockâs PERSONALITY. He has a personality quite similar to Houseâs.
So we have BBC Sherlock that is inspired by other adaptations and other adaptations that are inspired by BBC Sherlock. They are adaptations based on others adaptations, where the original Holmes gets lost and it is no longer possible to recognize him.
House influenced BBC Sherlock, Elementary and CBS Watson. Although Elementary suffered from the obvious comparisons to BBC Sherlock, it clearly follows a House approach style, including the opening of the show is inspired by the 1965 BBC series. And even with the influences of other adaptations, Elementary managed to maintain a personality more in keeping with Holmes, despite the sexual appeal that Elementary Holmes has (I believe it's House's fault). This Holmes has character development and takes a more serious approach to being neurodivergent and queer, and to his addiction. Unlike both House and BBCSH, which do not fully address Holmes' autistic, or his sexuality, and in the case of BBCSH at no point does it seriously address Sherlock's addiction problem.
And again, possibly influenced by Irene from the Warner Bros. films, we have an Irene Adler who works with Moriarty, and spoiler alert, not only does she work with Moriarty but is actually Moriarty herself. In addition to having a romantic involvement with Holmes, and Moriarty (her own counterpart) being an obstacle in their relationship (as in the film).
CBS Watson series has a big problem, being from the same producers as Elementary, even though Elementary managed to maintain consistency and a certain fidelity to Holmes' personality, CBS Watson ends up having almost no personality, being similar to House, and with a Watson that seems trying to be Holmes at all times. In a way, CBS Watson is an adaptation of another adaptation: House, which is inspired by Sherlock Holmes.
RDJ Holmes has influenced two Russian adaptations, âSherlock Holmesâ from 2013, where despite expectations that it was inspired by the Soviet series from 1979, the new Russian Holmes is very similar to the ways of RDJ Holmes, sloppy and careless. The series plot is that Watson narrates the adventures of Sherlock Holmes, but the Holmes he writes about is not the same as the real Holmes he lives with. Even though in this context, fidelity to the canon somehow does not need to exist. It still shows the influence of RDJ's films. And again, Irene Adler here is Holmes' romantic partner.
As for the NEW Russian series âSherlock in Russiaâ (2020), despite its originality and very well produced, we have an almost sloppy Holmes, long hair and a goatee, that yes, is RDJ's fault.

Being the most influential of the post-2000s adaptations, BBC Sherlock influenced several other adaptations, such as: âMiss Sherlockâ (2018) which is not only inspired by BBC Sherlock, but clearly an adaptation of BBC Sherlock in a modern Tokyo setting where Sherlock and John are women. (An adaptation of another adaptation that was inspired by other adaptations). âSherlock Untold Storiesâ (2019-2022) which is also heavily inspired by BBC Sherlock visually, but unlike Miss Sherlock it manages to be more original.
Moriarty the Patriot's Sherlock. Both the manga and the anime are, in my opinion, the best adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, both in the original plot and in how they adapted Moriarty and the canon to the context of the manga universe. However, Sherlock is clearly inspired by BBCSH's Sherlock. Some parts of the manga are also very similar to the events of BBC Sherlock.

And the most controversial one: Sherlock and Co. And I say this not as if they deliberately decided this. It's undeniable the impact that BBC Sherlock had on the general public's perception of WHO SHERLOCK HOLMES IS. Considering that the producer himself said that they had three audiences that they had to balance when making this adaptation, one of them being the "Johnlocker Community". Evidencing the HUGE impact that BBC Sherlock has even on the general Sherlock Holmes fandom, and yet, the producer said that he didn't know about queerbaiting when the allegations started that SH&Co. could be queerbaiting, remembering that no adaptation is obligated to make H&W a couple. This fact happened precisely because of the public's perception of how SH&Co. is similar to BBCSH and not just because it is set in the modern era. Observing the fandom, especially in the beginning, it was perceptive that SH&Co. was being treated as an extension of BBC Sherlock. So by EXTERNAL CONSEQUENCES, I will consider that SH&Co. Whether willingly or not, he suffers from the direct influence of BBCSH (and its fandom).
And then there's the Netflix problem. I haven't read the Enola books (yet), and I have no idea how Holmes is adapted in her books. But Henry Cavill Holmes is a consequence of BBCSH and RDJ. It's as if they had a son, but he clearly pulled Sherlock's hair more (BBCSH).

And Irregulars, only Netflix know where they got their inspiration from to do that. And Holmes is sloppy again, it's RDJ's fault. And taking inspiration from Sherlock in New York, Netflix's Holmes also abandons his daughter even though he says he loves the child's mother more than anything. Eleven worse, Irregulars Holmes neglects his daughter for FIFTEEN YEARS, but her mother is the love of his life and could let the world end if they could be together. And for some reason Watson loves that jerk.
(also is like benedict and jonny lee miller had a child)

And the light at the end of the tunnel came, unexpectedly, from the CW. Finally an adaptation that is not based on another adaptation, that despite the original approach, it is still noticeable that it is in fact based on the canon and does not suffer from the influence of other adaptations.

This is based on a twitter discussion, but mostly on a comment from an oomf.

It genuinely does mean so much to me that All Might lived, and he wanted to live. Like being able to see a character so passively suicidal, who knew that his own death was coming soon yet did nothing to change its outcome, decide he wanted to keep on living? To decide that he would continue to live? And actually be able to live? Also subverting the trope of the old mentor dying after passing on all he could to his student in the progress, and ending up old and retired and happy. It's just so beautiful to see

#idk if im articulating myself well but#im not just saying this as someone whose fav character is all might#but struggling with those type thoughts... its very important for me#like i get hopeful? happy?#i have my problems with mha's ending. but all mights story? im so happy with it#thank you horikoshi#all might#toshinori yagi#yagi toshinori#mha#my hero academia#bnha#boku no hero academia

Gyroâs Just as Bad: A Gyjo Essay
its generally understood that gyjo is important to each other, but since sbr is from Johnnyâs pov we get his thoughts on the âwhyâ more than gyroâs. Johnnyâs side of things also tends to get more emphasis in fanon, which I just wanted to try and illustrate the development of their relationship from Gyroâs pov since I think thatâs the part of gyjo that seems the most underexplored.
First thing to note, and something thatâs pretty funny, is that Gyro is an asshole to everyone at the start of the race. Through the first stage hes basically this âlone riderâ character. Before the race starts, Gyro helps Johnny out by helping him get on the horse, but during the race itself heâs pretty brutal to his competitors. Itâs Johnny who chooses to chase him, which Gyro didnât ask for. But by the end of the stage Johnnyâs proved his grit and Gyro allows him to accompany him. Itâs cute how quickly he takes Johnny under his wing, especially since heâs still so hostile to everyone else.
Gyro presents himself as this very confident figure, and carries them through the attacks of Mrs. Robinson, Strohiem, and Oyecomova. The Boom-Boom family was more of a team effort between Gyro, Johnny and Tim, and they mostly won thanks to Tusk awakening. It isnât until Pork Pie Hat Kid attacks and Gyro gets taken out of commission that Johnny is forced to be the one doing the quick thinking and rescuing. I think both Johnny being the one to rescue him and his newfound determination to collect the corpse tickles Gyro, similar to how he was interested in Johnny at the starting line because of Johnnyâs stubbornness with Slow Dancer.
I think a big part of the reason Gyro is initially attracted to Johnny is because Johnny has the fortitude to go after what he really wants; unlike Gyro, who, as revealed in True Manâs World, remains to some extent paralyzed by his familyâs traditions. So far the only thing Gyro has ever done to differentiate himself from his given role as executioner and eldest son is join the race, supposedly for Marco. Yet as demonstrated with his continued correspondence with Naples and their delivery of the Zombie Horse thread, Gyro did not cut himself off from his country and family entirely. He doesnât know how to exist without it. Johnny meanwhile is fiercely independent; by contrast Gyro is still dependent on his tradition, country and family to guide his decisions. Thatâs why I think Marco was only an excuse / smaller factor in Gyroâs choice to join the race than what was initially presented. Gyro left to join the race because heâd never had a chance to develop himself as a person outside of his role as eldest son and executioner. Thatâs why his question about Marcoâs death is about âconsentâ. Marco was supposed to be Gyroâs first solo execution. Marco was imprisoned as a traitor to the crown and by law would need to die. As a prisoner he has no consent to give, and Gyro knows that. The consent Gyro needs is his own. Gyro needs to understand, for himself, who he is and what his actual values are before he âconsentsâ to being the executioner.
In the Third Stage, Gyro admits to himself that âmaybe the corpse hunt will help me grow a little.â Like I said, I think that to an extent Marcoâs unjust execution was not necessarily the entire reason Gyro came to the race. Gyro may not have recognized it himself, but what heâs looking for is an opportunity to define himself outside of what he knows. Marco isnt what heâs thinking about when he loses the Third Stage; Gyro is thinking about how much he himself is pissed off by the loss. Unconsciously, Gyro recognizes that heâs not just racing for Marco, but to prove something to himself. Moreover, easily winning would prove that heâs fine as he is, and he can back to Naples, ignorant but having in a sense âgotten it out of his systemâ. But losing forces him to reflect, not just on the loss, but on what heâs racing for. Thatâs why Johnnyâs advice is for him âto hungerâ. Because Gyro still doesnât really understand his own motivations for racing.
Thatâs why Ringoâs words about his being a conformist in True Manâs World bother him so badly. Because Gyro knows that, up until that point, he has been a conformist. He still relies on Naples for guidance and Gregorioâs teachings still echo in his head. But his friendship with Johnny is what allows him to break the first of the family traditions heâd so strictly adhered to, and give in to âsentimentalityâ. This is the first ânewâ value he explicitly chooses to define himself by, and the first part of himself he discovers outside of his âconformityâ. Gyro risks a lot by going back to confront Ringo. Heâs challenging not just Ringo, but himself. Only a âtrue manâ, or someone fighting for âsomethingâ that they desire for themselves, would have the âdark determinationâ necessary to beat Ringo. And Gyro finds it. Ringo welcomes him to the true manâs world because he recognizes that Gyro has found something to fight for.
In Catch the Rainbow, Gyro takes Johnnyâs advice from the Third Stage and creates another value to define himself by - a hunger to win, for himself. Thatâs why he tells Diego to gtfo of the way; Gyroâs chasing himself on the Golden Path. Supposedly itâs a path for him alone. Ironically, itâs Johnny who interrupts Gyro and Diegoâs battle on the Golden Path. Textually, Johnny realizes Diego is cheating but Gyro is so desperate to win that he doesnât realize it. Metaphorically, Johnny interrupts to demonstrate that Gyro isnât done growing yet, and is not yet ready to truly walk the âgolden pathâ of the True Manâs World. He doesnât yet have the self-definition or subsequent selfish hunger necessary to do it. Only together are Gyro and Johnny able to defeat Diego and continue their pursuit of self-improvement (the corpse parts). However, afterwards Gyro lashes out at Johnny for interrupting, further demonstrating that in many areas he is still immature, childishly taking his feelings out on Johnny instead of waiting for an explanation of why Johnny interfered, and not really listening when he does.
In A Silent Way, Johnny is again what enables Gyro to find his second area of self-definition: mentorship. Itâs heavily implied that Gyro is the first one to break Zeppeli tradition and teach the Golden Ratio to someone outside the family; however, he wonât teach Johnny any other way but the Zeppeli family way (âI canât do itâ four times), demonstrating his continued struggle between tradition and independence.
Sugar Mountain is iconic, but just as a refresh: at the end of the arc Gyro sees again how much Johnny is willing to give up for him. I think that this shapes his approach to Johnny afterwards; heâs much softer, and more protective. Because of Johnnyâs actions in Sugar Mountain, heâs realized that finding his âgolden pathâ isnât something he can do alone; and that he really does need Johnny as much as Johnny needs him. As noted before, Johnny gave up everything for Gyro. This is the impetus for Gyro to really embrace his role as friend and mentor, no longer afraid that his newly discovered âsentimentalityâ is a weakness, but embracing Johnny as a trusted companion and deciding that he doesnât need to be a âlone riderâ to win and find the independence and self-definition heâd been looking for. Johnny, not the race, is what pushes Gyro into reflection, soul-searching, and adaptation, embracing the world as it comes instead of adhering to everything heâs been taught.
Gyro defeats his narrative foil in Wekapipo. Wekapipo has abandoned his homeland entirely, and been abandoned by it. He hopes to find a new beginning in America. He too is looking to define himself anew. However, Gyro, now having reconciled what heâs been taught with what heâs learning with Johnny, is able to pull off a miracle. He doesnât need to be someone new entirely or abandon who he was; he just needed to understand himself. Note that this is also the arc where he finds the golden rectangle in Johnnyâs eyes - literally melding where he came from (Golden Ratio, Zeppeli traditions) with what heâs chasing now (self-improvement, alongside Johnny). Thatâs why Gyroâs allowed to win this stage, and he and Johnny get their one-two finish. Gyro earned his victory against Wekapipo and he earned first place in the stage, he and Johnny finding the best path forward (the golden path) by combining Tusk and a Steel Ball to create their own. Furthermore, Gyro reconnects Wekapipo with Naples by revealing his sister is still alive; thus Wekapipo too is allowed to live and try to reconcile where he came from with where heâs going, starting the journey Gyro now realizes heâs been on.
Frankly Iâm tired so Iâm not going to get into D4C arc but by the time sbr reaches its climax most of the heavy relationship work for gyjo is done anyway. I hope anyone who questions Gyroâs side of things finds this essay helpful!
#Iâve had thoughts like these before but this is the first time Iâve been able to really articulate them lol#this is a bit similar to my Gyro + True Manâs World post but I think itâs different enough to stand in its own#sorry no sources cited I typed this on mobile#gyro zeppeli#johnny joestar#gyjo#steel ball run#sbr#this is unedited unpolished and probably awful to read but yeah Iâll post it anyway#my posts#sbr analysis#ppl joke that johnny hates everyone but im sorry to inform u thats actually gyroâŠheâs rude to everyone but his shawty (johnny)

Sorry I'm thinking about KCD again but I keep seeing posts hcing Hans as a gay man who's just deep into comphet is, personally, really interesting. As a bisexual I love 99% of bisexual rep but there is something about this kind of character, Hans is young and doing things as he thinks he should. Which is. Being the way he is. It wasn't until he started realizing his own feelings for Henry that made him go !?. I don't think it's something he's thought about a lot until that time (whenever it was, whether it was in the first game for some or sometime in the second) and then he had to come to a conclusion that he never expected to need to deal with.
Like Henry is fully bisexual To Me but there's just something so utterly compelling about Hans being gay that I'm just turning around in my head.
#might not be super articulate it's almost 5am#but im spinning him around in my brain i just love the hc a lot#hans being the one to kiss henry in a burst of confidence because he might never see the man again after that night#henry pushing him away in what seems like confusion and fear#a noble and a common man like henry? their different stations? many thoughts going through his head about it#but he himself is also so deep into this that he took that moment and realized that he needed hans just as much#someone has prob said something like this on here but the most conversations i see abt this is little glimpses on twitter#i need the first game to go on sale again so bad and it be a decent discount i neeeeeeed it#anyways#hansry#kingdom come deliverance#kingdom come deliverance 2

i like to think goth is a gender in of itself
#goth#gothgoth#gothic#gender#gothgender#i usually just go by nonbinary but gothgender resonates quite a bit tbh#and there is something to be said about the overlap between the trans community and the goth community#and especially with how goth often rejects typical gender norms#idk there's definitely an essay to be written here but im not good at articulating my thoughts#but i dont really get dysphoria from looking more feminine or masculine the way i do if i feel like i look too preppy#and being able to be goth feels like its improved my mental health#idk tho im just someone on the internet throwing words at a wall

Please share the rambles about how Lana eventually kills Ovidia? Pretty please?
ORGEHRTGRT i love that pretty please oerghag u got it lemme gather my garbled thoughts,,,
im super wishy-washy on whether i want that to commit to that being the end, but it certain is an end. Because theres a build up that leads into lana being ovidias end that i feel needs to be mentioned first
as i think more on ovidia as a person and their history, a lot of it shapes their perception on a perfect life including a "perfect" family and i think they end up subconsciously projecting a lot of it onto Lana and she does try to mold herself into this image of a perfect child for her Baba
but because ovidia isnt being truthful about even to themself about why they do what they "have to" whether its leading their followers the way they with a lot of manipulation and making them believe in this image of a perfect Mother and family that they've carefully curated, or even how they specifically talk to and treat their children and why there is almost a clear sense of favoritism that is kind of always there
this denial is also the reason their ascension is slow and unpleasant, because a process that would not normally take more than maybe a century or two to even begin is being stretched out because theyre actively fighting the crown against it. it isnt apart of their plan, of ovidias plan. so any changes that come from ascending are painful and slow and its entirely because ovidia is so deep in denial of their true self
they dont want to think theyre playing favorites, and its not obvious to anyone but Narinder at first that they view the kids very differently from each other and while hes tries to talk about it ovidia just has a way of icing him out because they just flat out will not admit it.
and this is the point i realized that there are two diverging paths for them, and if they accept and realize where it comes from and why theyre doing this they have the capacity to at least start to mend the damage theyve made which at that point wouldnt be until Lana is already an older child (like 10-12)
or they never address it and never change, they stagnate in their ability to ascend and unbeknownst to them, the crown had always taken a liking to Lana and her innate interest in death and murder, and naturally has been putting thoughts into that childs head for longer than ovidia would have guessed
(wip of something i might finish eventually but u kno, just 2 emphasize that lana adores the crown)
and it wouldnt be until lana is older, and is acknowledged by her baba to be a grown and capable person that its basically the final nail in the coffin. Lanas mental check list is finished for the developmental part of her own life, now all thats left is to become an usurper, just like their idol!
because shes always wanted to be just like Mother.
the method of murder would involve the years of honing in all the inherited abilities that come with being the kid of a god, but them still being a god it'd be hard wouldnt it? not if the crown is so willing to betray its master, and when its got a guaranteed new head to sit on its not that hard to imagine itd turn coat and reveal the secret to killing a god huh
#botalks#cotl mother au#this is like all over the place to me and i feel like im so bad at articulating my thoughts esp when im not married to the ideas entirely#but this is abt as far as i am orihdgbvtreoibhsr

thinking about klavier gavin again because i saw someone say that the fact that he's the only prosecutor in the series who wants to find the truth and isn't insanely obsessed with winning like the other prosecutors makes him really boring
and i understand it to some extent when comparing him to other prosecutors but... Klavier Gavin??? BORING????
after playing aa4 i was OBSESSED with klavier gavin and the untouched potential of this guy
he loses his best friend/bandmate, his brother AND his mentor in the span of like a year?? i think??? which is INSANE.
there's something very tragic about klavier, a person who values finding the truth above all else, finding out that two of the people closest to him betrayed his trust and lied to him and used him for their own means AND ARE MURDERERS.
and then his mentor, a person who taught that seeking the truth is what a lawyer should do, gets murdered by a person who believes that winning in trials is the most important thing above all else WHICH IS THE SAME EXACT THING THAT KRISTOPH VALUED AS WELL !!!
this core belief of finding out the truth that klavier has, leads him to finding out about the things that daryan and kristoph did, and even though they are important to him, people he CARES about, he continues to work with apollo to see that justice is served.
and the fact that we don't get to see anything of klavier getting any closure after the events of aa4 makes me insane
we never get to see much of klavier's feelings on what happened or him fully processing the events of aa4 and that one case in aa5 and it makes me soooo upset. i wish he got more than that little cameo in aa5 and that one tiny flashback appearance in aa6.
in an alternate universe, aa4 got a true sequel that fully explored klavier's character, as well as phoenix's, klavier's, AND apollo's relationship with kristoph, and klavier's relationship with phoenix post-aa4, and also a more thought out? (for the lack of a better word) backstory for apollo, and an exploration of the jury system, and a game that ACTUALLY built upon the foundation that aa4 laid out.
and i am forever upset that we are not in that alternate universe.
#celeste rambles#ace attorney spoilers#klavier gavin#apollo justice#aa4#aa4 spoilers#aa5#aa5 spoilers#i will say tho i actually do like what they tried to do with apollo's backstory in aa6#also sorry if none of this makes sense im not very good at articulating my thoughts#and i have MANY thoughts about klavier gavin#he still sticks to finding the truth no matter what even when the murderer ends up being people close to him#actually now that i think about it its really interesting how in aa5 apollo starts to doubt his trust in people#and then theres that whole âevidence is everythingâ moment which made me lose my mind#arghhhakhfjwfkw#i really want to replay the entire ace attorney series now#i love aa4 and i will never stop thinking about it#AND I LOVE KLAVIER GAVIN!!!#ofc everyones entitled to their own opinions if you think aa4 isnt that good or that klaviers boring thats fine#but ohhhhh i havent been able to stop thinking about klavier#also i wish phoenix and klavier interacted more???#i wish we got to see them have a proper talk about kristoph and phoenix's disbarment#theres so many things in aa4 that felt like they were supposed to be touched upon in the next game and they just... weren't#i will keep saying this until the day i die that if aa4 got an actual duology or trilogy that focused on the main cast of aa4 and#kept apollo as the main protag of the series#then aa4 would be praised a lot more and more universally liked#i do think after the release of the aj trilogy more people are starting to appreciate aa4 which is really nice <3

hayden and theo r my favorite chimeras (or former chimera in Haydenâs case) and i think their relationship with liam and scott respectively are so interesting in how similar they are
like, the thing about theo and hayden is that both of them couldâve been werewolves, like scott and liam, if there were no dread doctors. if theo had stayed in beacon hills thereâs a chance he couldâve become a werewolf around the time scott does. he couldâve been the one offered the bite by peter instead of stiles, he couldâve sought it out like jackson did, he couldâve wanted the bite for himself (i honestly believe he would have). him and scotts main difference is that theo is a chimera while scotts a werewolf, but they couldâve been the same if the dread doctors never came into theoâs life.
hayden is the same. she was going to meet liam eventually, bc they know each other from sixth grade and are in the same class at school, plus liam and his friends go to the club where she works. they wouldâve crossed paths and they couldâve fell in love organically (it was all there already without the supernatural aspectâthey were so enemies to lovers) and hayden wouldâve been tied to the supernatural that way. but she got turned into a chimera before even meeting liam again, changing their relationship.
thatâs so interesting to me. also the fact that theo and hayden come back into scott and liams lives as chimeras. the fact that theyâre chimeras is the thing that impacts both of their relationships with scott and liam, affecting it negatively. like liam and hayden go through the whole thing in s5 because liam is a werewolf in scotts pack while haydenâs a chimera! what they are and how their lives were changed by becoming apart of the supernatural (scott and liam by being bit, theo and hayden by being turned) will always be the thing that separates them, that prevents them from working out.
#teen wolf#holy yap#im just so obsessed with theo and hayden particularly#hayden is so so interesting if only she was explored more!!#sceo and layden r basically one and the same#only diff is writers were too scared to make sceo canon#itâs how chimeras see being supernatural and how different that is to how a bitten werewolf sees the supernatural#and then also someone born into it like derek#being a chimera is like a added layer of body horror#because of the resurrections involved#anyway I hope I articulated my thoughts properly I just canât form coherent thoughts#sceo#layden#theo raeken#hayden romero#scott mccall#liam dunbar

#re:kinder#rekinder#yuuichi mizuoka#fanart#parun#my art#everytime i came back to continue working on this one it was very hard not to bawl my eyes out#something about drawing yuu with such an innocent joy considering his story and how it ends made me so devastated#so as i drew this one i was tryna to make calculations goofy reasons as to why he did not die#there's this one post in parun's blog journal where he roughly said he could not imagine yuu havin a happy ending#i think about it alot#what a good game#anyway i drew him wearing Alice's dress due to this one line where he mentions her ingame#comparin himself to her in a set of lines that are more articulate than anything i could ever write#nothing to do its just i find it really amusing how this fictional 2nd grader effortlessly writes poetry how he describes imagery#all while simultaneously broadcasting these thoughts somehow telepathically to another child#he's he's gifted just. wow. ate and left no crumbs#but im gettin sidetracked ive found that drawing yuu in dresses is very therapeutic#as you can tell by that this is not the only doodle of that but you will see it when i feel i have collected enough goofy doodles to post em#drawing yuu in general is already something therapeutic in it of itself yet it somehow managed to best itself#do i understand how they work ?!?!?!? no i dont understand how they work but. hehe funny frills go weeeeeeeeâșïžâșïžâșïž#i feel like this one twitter post that was something like âthat one moot who changes pfp to every new image of their favorite characterâ#i just keep changing my pfp to whatever doodle im really happy with of yuu its so funny

i know astrology is fake but i'm not too keen on how a lot of people on this website seem to be clowning on it as a hobby a bit too hard. i swear the woman who thinks it's neat how she and her friends with the same sun sign are all similar isn't trying to say that you are who you are born as and there is nothing you can do to change it. it's a hobby. an interest. what happened to finding meaning and joy in the small things. does it affect you if someone enjoys tarot reading or crystals. does it make you upset someone has interests that they enjoy.
#im not saying astrology/tarot/crystals/etc. get clowned on so much bc theyre hobbies mostly enjoyed by women But....#i saw a post about some astrology study and made the mistake of opening the notes on that bad boy#not fun. and that reminded me of that old post that was basically like ''liking astrology is transphobic''#anyways idk maybe its just that my bestie is very much a ''crystal girl'' but like. stuff like that are such neat hobbies#she makes some cute little jars with pretty rocks and they make her feel better bc if you believe in something you can make it happen#when it comes to small things#like yeah if you pick up a stone that's like ''this can help you be more open with your emotions'' and you are like ''oh hell yea!''#ofc that will be on your mind and the item will be a constant reminder and actually help you with your goals#and its like. ok what really stuck with me was when i was talking with my bff and i was like ''i think all this stuff is interesting but i#feel bad bc i am superstitious and believe in some signs like lucky numbers but i know that logically its just. if i pick a lucky number of#i pay extra attention to it but i want to believe its lucky but i know how human brains work in that aspect''#and she was just like. ''so? those things dont have to exclude each other'' and it clicked#if i have a little tigers eye with me it does not make me feel more grounded magically#but if i decide (or believe) it's grounding then it will b bc it's a reminder for me to calm down#and stuff#like. ah idk how to put my thoughts into words#but i just think its unfair that a few rotten apples have ruined the perception of fun hobbies for a lot#not every astrology enjoyer is trying to sell you mlm essential oils or genuinely believe peoples entire lives are dictated upon the stars#or something#idk i just feel like these things are v misunderstood even tho im not personally like super into them myself#but ppl super mean about that stuff arent invited to look at my medieval themed fortune telling cards#idkk im sleepy and cant articulate my points someone else say this but better#leevi talks#im just saying. i dont think its bioessentialism to decide to believe you personally have a season for growth when the stars are in a#certain position or whatever

There's sometimes a misconception that Feng Xin is totally subservient to Xie Lian or afraid to say no to XL but FX often scolds/nags XL and has on multiple occasions told him to do or not do something.

FX has his own convictions and mind of his own too. He trusts XL's judgment on major decisions, following XL's call for serious matters, but imo it's not subservience, but rather loyalty borne out of a firm belief and conviction in XL's moral compass. FX's loyalty is bc of FX's own righteous principles and own moral code too.

In bk 4 FX argued with XL and questioned XL's decisions, and was even openly angry at XL, like when XL almost killed a commoner just for disrespecting XL and called the commoner a derogatory term. FX was angry at XL and yelled at XL for that bc FX has his own strong moral code that includes not harming innocents or doing unscrupulous things. He's not just blindly loyal. He has his own convictions too.
And he's certainly not a people pleaser or someone who follows rules to the letter. It's considered rude and unbecoming for heavenly officials to be too vulgar in the heavenly court, yet FX cusses openly all the time without a care. Would a people pleaser who was scared of breaking the smallest rule do that? FX is simply not someone who is afraid of saying no.
#feng xin#idk i just wish ppl would recognize fx is not just blindly loyal#like some ppl call fx cowardly and said he was too scared to say no to xl#which is not true?? we see him disagreeing with xl lots of times#xl tried to kill a commoner just for disrespecting him!#ugh idk like. from fx's pov bk 4 xl was totally different totally not xl anymore#fx was ofc angry#thats the context for why he fought with xl and then walked out that door#but also xl literally basically told fx to leave#fx thought he wasnt wanted anymore#idk im too groggy to articulate well rn but. i just wanted to say fx has a mind of his own#they say he abandoned xl and but when you try to tell them xl literally told him to leave#then they say hes a coward who was too scared to say no to xl and just blindly followed xls every order...#sorry the comic relief loyal dog character is nuanced and righteous and complex. to me.#mp: tgcf#my meta#i guess ish
