in short he's a rookie stuck in a timeloop where everytime he dies, he immediately forgets his past loop. so he barely ends up learning from his mistakes but always comes back alive (in another loop)

it's said that this force is trying to constantly give him a chance to escape but. will he ever break the cycle? who knows

he's not much but i love him and will throw him in a wall regardless

okay we all know and love identity crisis soul but consider. identity crisis heart.

okay in order for this to be coherent I need to explain the way the timeloops work in my interpretation. this definitely gonna get long so. bam. under the cut.

so Soul can remember the loops. all of them; as long as his memory doesnt get too fuzzy, he can recall as many previous loops as his brain can handle. heart and mind are aware of the loops, but can’t remember them. they get Deja vu and fragmented memories of the past loops, and that’s about it. the juno incident wasnt originally part of the loops. there was still calamity, cacophony, and concord, but nothing was as severe until 13 loops in when heart and mind attacked each other. it started happening over and over and was permanently woven into the timeloops by the 20th one. but at first, they fully thought they could end the loops. that maybe this time, they will truly become whole.

yet that never happens.

in the first few loops, all of their identities were fully based around whole. they even looked more like whole. mind was whole’s logic, not the fully independent being he thinks of himself as today. heart was whole’s emotions, not the individual he is now. soul was… well, the first few loops, he wasnt sure, so he just tried to be whole.

they all realized at different times that they were now more than just “whole’s logic” and “whole’s feeling” and “whole’s identity.” (soul still hasn’t accepted it, but he’s aware.) heart realized last. he clung to being whole’s emotions as a justification to himself for why he’s “like this.” weak and vile, feeble and frail, hollow and bleak, all that. why he lashed out, why he couldn’t get out of bed some days because he was so terribly depressed, why he jumped at every little sound sometimes. it was because that’s what he was supposed to do. he’s the embodiment of harmonia’s emotions, after all. but… what if he wasnt?

if he was more than just a fragment, if he was an individual like mind claimed, then why would he be so angry? so upset? so scared? so impulsive and volatile and unpredictable? no, he has to just be because of whole’s emotions, there’s no other explanation, right?

and once he does finally accept that he is an individual being with free will, oh boy. he doesnt know who he is. he’s denied himself identity beyond “a part of our whole” for so long that he has no idea who he is beyond thst. resentment for whole started to build as he struggled with who he was, the loops only amplifying it. slowly, he built an identity, but it took more than one cycle to do so. every time, he got just a little farther along until he finally managed to solidify his own place in the world.

he still struggles sometimes. in Apathy, when he’s struggling to justify his choice to himself, he falls back into “well, im the emotional side. im supposed to lash out like that. its what i was created for.”

hopes/theories/predictions for each of the chrysos heirs' + cyrene's personalities

not at all accurate, and i haven't seen any story leaks yet(although i saw the coreflame ones, so beware)! this was written a few days before 3.0 came out and is just for fun! only the chrysos heirs i know the names and faces of... sorry hysilens fans, i have no idea for her :(. cyrene is included because a) i love her and elysia and b) she's gonna be relevant, even if idk if she'll be a chrysos heir

a few coreflame spoiler under the cut, but no other story leaks! a bunch of people have already predicted the coreflames anyway lol

aglaea- im very excited for her story-wise, a couple people have already said she probably has some hidden side to her, and she may even become an antagonist of sorts in the second part! i personally love that she's the oldest(maybe? or just most experienced) heir and the one to unite them all. she's our first playable so she'll def be super important. i really wanna know what her golden apple thingy is all about too... but aside from that she's ETHEREAL. i need to know everything about her she's so gorgeous. she can commit a little murder as a treat i think she would deserve it. idk why i just get that feeling. she's so calm and elegant and stoic like i think she should go just a little apeshit for the hell of it.

tribbie- im really curious- did she split into three or are they born triplets who all carry the coreflame? how does all that work? why does she have two city affiliations in her drip? im not the most interested in her, per se, but she's got a lot of questions too. i hope she's playable as three characters because i wanna see those animations!!

anaxa- honestly i have the most questions + speculations about him. like what happened to his dull eye(s)? why does he have an eyepatch? why's he called "the Foolish"? how are he and hyacine related? why are his eyes the same colors as March's(and from a planet where she'll be very story relevant? i'm very biased at him cause su's my favorite male character in hi3 and anaxagoras was one of my fav greek philosophers. i already said this in a different post but su's variants are all batshit insane so he's gonna be. interesting! also the timeloop theory and him maybe being aware of it?? that got me really interested. but his name is the bit really bothering me- why name his after the guy who a) invented the concept of nous, an aeon we know is involved in amphoreus b) didn't believe gods were responsible for bits of the world like everyone else did(which is gonna come up in amphoreus just you wait) and c) was right about basically everything several hundred years before anyone had the tech to back it up?? like that's still insane to me. also how are we getting his coreflame if cerces is dead like come on what's going on there?? i wanna shake him around in a box im excited for him!

hyacine- lots of theories saying she might also be from the grove of epiphany, and she and anaxa were sitting in the same tree in golden epic trailer! i think her design's super cute, and she'll be important if her titan is actually aquila like people have theorized. she'll probs be a healer? i wonder what the inspiration behind her name is too... she doesn't seem to have flower motifs, even, but if she's from the grove that makes a bit more sense. i'd initially thought she was from aidonia, a city in the mountains(near the sky) plus the place aquila might be from(judging from ancient hymns, but that could be my misinterpretation). im so pulling for her. i also really hope she and anaxa have a big brother-little sister relationship like ppl on twitter have said, bc they looked so happy together in that one frame of nameless faces and im weak for found family.

mydei- uhhh a lot of people have said gap moe?? idk if that's a theory or leaks- personally i think it would be super funny. im a little worried about him, cause the words in his drip marketing were... super ominous, like why does he have to die a thousand deaths? he's a prince, which makes me wonder how nobility works in amphoreus + when castrum kremnos was destroyed, but that's a different conversation. i like the little braids in his design- good nod to greek culture! he's also got a throne in the nameless faces trailer which is kinda interesting and probably foreshadowing

cipher - par! do! fe! lis! i LOVE trickery characters so i'll probs pull her unless i have zero funds. her model looks so different from the initial art but i do still love the vibes so i'm not that put off. she already has her coreflame! but that one scene in nameless faces where she's surrounded by flames... no death flags im begging. elysian realm was bad enough for sure. let them be happy!! i have high hopes for her personality- i hope they don't lean too much into the "catty"(hah) bit and focus on her backstory, whatever that may be!

castorice- afgausdfyg her ANIMATION?! must pull! she's so gorgeous and she has a butterfly motif and she's related to DEATH in a GREEK MYTHOLOGY WORLD and she has a MASSIVE SCYTHE im going absolutely insane. also dull eyes syndrome for the win! she's gonna make me cry. side note her dragon's super cool looking too. i hope she becomes a major companion for tb (it seems so from the remembrance tb keeping up with star rail!). she's. im gonna enjoy her part of the quest so much oh god. im shaking in excitement. also while i dont like the same dress on every single hsr girl hers actually looks pretty good. if they put butterflies and dragons into all her animations i might actually pull eidolons, which so far i've only done for ruan mei. that's the power of a death goddess tho!! im so excited for her.

phainon- kevin... smiling... looking like a puppy... oh god my h e a r t. if he's like a happy lil puppy like he was before the Traumas + dr mei's death in hi3 i'll throw myself through a wall. hoyo please let him be happy this one time let all the flamechasers have a happy end im begging. they deserve it. im begging for all the people who theorize he will have to hold the world on his shoulders to be wrong about just this one thing because my heart WILL give out just a bit.

cyrene- ELYSIA ELYSIA!!! oh god she's so tiny!! she's got the same lil giggle and attitude about happy stories im gonna ghksufgukygfk jhf. but anyway. we know nothing about her yet, but i like the theories that she's somehow on the "outside" of amphoreus looking in + the ones saying mem is her fursona. she's adorable and i really, really hope she's playable. so much. you know her animations would go so hard you know it hoyo loves elysia too much for anything else.

one last thing i just wanted to say that i already said on twt: i think in the golden epic trailer, the first one, the order in which the chrysos heirs were introduced is the order aglaea recruited them in! i have no real evidence, other than that it would kinda make sense and having tribbie second makes sense because... messenger who can recruit heirs! but idk, just a random thought.

aaand that's all! again, these are all speculations + hopes nothing i say here will necessarily be canon :)

I think Slay The Princess is Exceptional and amazing Visual Novel design that's made even more excellent by its poetic writing, voice acting and visuals. However.

Spoils under cut

Warning: A lot of this review is based on vibes and subjectivity. A lot of the friction I have with this game asks it to be something else rather than making note of what it IS.

Unfortunately, I just really don't vibe with it's greater Cosmic/Eldritch plot elements because I feel like they sort of cheapen the stakes and dullen my thematic experience.

The Game is at its best when you're dealing with the very Mortal circumstances of killing the princess. The In-between moments between timeloops that concern the larger plot and eventually the climax are weak to me because the titular princess becomes flat and uninteresting as an Eldritch being who by it's nature, doesn't care much about anything. Which makes sense contextually but doesn't make for a very interesting character imo.

Okay, sure, it's a love story, but there is fundamentally no romance. No big push and pull between the characters because all of the characterization tends to get swallowed up in Purple Prose about absolute "Everything's and Nothings being the ONE and The SAME-things" All of the character relationships either go unseen or are wiped away upon the end of each time loop.

Again. All of it is Exceptionally well threaded together, and I never get the impression that it's coming out of nowhere. It's cohesive and consistent with all of these elements. You could very much respond to everything I'm saying with:

"Yeah, that's the point. Cosmic horror and timeloops strip away meaning and connection by their nature because they Scale things up beyond the Material Reality"

But it doesn't really end up answering the jucier questions raised by its Premise except by way of overwhelming Cosmic Nonsense.

Why a Cabin In the woods?

Why a Princess?

Why chained in the basement?

All the answers are kind of boiled down to Cosmic Metaphor/contrivance by the end.

Its a shunted timeloop variation

She's a princess because it's a pretty face the Eldritch God Wanted to be

She's chained There because a Greater cosmic force is imprisoning her there.

If all of this is Your Thing, then great 👍 awesome. Again, all of those answers that the story gives ARE Answers at the end of the day Im just not very satisfied with them and I feel like this isn't really a legit criticism of what it is. It's more like longing for something I think it should be.

My impression the games premise was that of a CYOA/Escape The Room deal wherein you must wrestle with your sentimentality to kill a princess who's surprisingly more cunning and/or cruel than expected leading to Cat and Mouse kind of back and forth as a way to characterize an evolving relationship wherein you learn more and more about the princesses goals/motives as well as your own obligation to kill her.

NOW there's certainly a Decent amount of that in there in general. (At the beginning and in small bursts throughout) But because the princesses' goals/motives shift upon each loop depending on what monster she becomes and then is ultimately subsumed by the larger Eldritch princess by the end, it's hard to build up a character with consistency and I think having a consistent character is very nessecary to a Love Story/Romance.

Which is a shame because I also conversely REALLY like that element of the game where your decisions fundamentally change the nature of princess and therefore the playthrough.

STOP BEING SO EXCELLENT GAME!!

The Ending had me both sat firmly in my seat and a little bit disconnected. I wanted to see what all the effort was for and, again, because it's an excellent game, I was pretty happy to see how the choices came back to me. The final choice DID have me pretty stumped but not, I think, for the right reasons.

Mostly because both outcomes were so Cosmically Huge that it felt like it didn't really feel relevant to any of my in-game circumstances.

Do I...

Allow my Eldritch GF to keep up the Karmic Cycle of life and death with a fresh world on the chopping block ready to be unmade? (Narrator says That's Bad and there are Real People's Lives At Stake. Even though I'm pretty sure it's mentioned/implied we destroyed a couple timelines/worlds to get here so.... in for a penny?)

OR

Destroy her and create some kind of endless World Without Death authored by me, a guy who killed like 5 versions of the same girl to do it. (But it's okay because that Violence is washed away because Eldritch GF is cool with it and dgaf)

Like, okay, yeah, that's a big, weighty decision. But it's between two things that are INCREDIBLY abstract, intangible, and have very little to do with Slaying A Princess. Idk. Maybe there's a larger thematic parallel in that choice that I'm just not seeing/feeling it.

Anyway. Incredible game, one of the best to ever do Visual Novels. Loved the mechanics, character voices, and visuals. Incredible pacing and atmosphere. And even if I don't vibe with certain story elements. It is a Story told incredibly well.

high school detective story where everyone is stuck in a time loop. they keep repeating the same cases over and over until it gets kinda comfy, and both detectives (both girls btw, and yes there is _something_ there but watch out) are differing degrees of The Joker, but eventually the routine is broken and it becomes apparent that theres Other Stuff is going on and there are a few others who are aware of the looping to their own ends. anyway one of the detectives is actually the one who trapped them there because Reasons. tbh the setting is a bit weak bc i came up with it as a teenager but i like it too much to rework it<-you can ask about this one but im shy

famous people of varying levels of noteriety are kidnapped and made to participate in a reality television show where death is on the table. three characters present are estranged childhood friends with A Past. the two above are linked to this, it shares characters and setting all the way through. most prominently several characters from the bullet point before this are involved. one of the main characters is the younger brother of someone involved also. im not sure what the endgame of this one is but theres timeloop bullshit in this one also<-this ones messy but you can ask probably

everything is linked through the same metaverse (its a long story) but all together there are some stuff that are less loosely connected. also yeah due to it all being a part of the same metaverse thats why sometimes there is time loop bullshit. also um... a lot of higher beings messing with people for no reason

more fantasy premise and a little more gag. kind of? but a hero coming down from a line of chosen heroes is dispatched to the line of duty to vanquish.. some kind of evil (no one is even sure what) but right in the beginning someone sets the convent he was picking up his companion from on fire. theyre seperated and he is accompanied by a different woman instead. from then on he ends up picking up nothing but the "wrong" party members, specifically people who are actually supposed to be bosses. meanwhile the actual proper party members to be become enemies. i really like this one. <-if you ask me about it i will probably tell you more

magical girl thing, idk, to be honest i made this one up when i was 16 so i dont like the concept that much, it was edgy but didnt make sense, i wanna rework it so the characters arent high schoolers anymore. its nothing objectionable just cringe in a way that isnt fun. so i dont have much to say about it, but it also exists as an arcade game in the main timeline thing so im mentioning it

mecha premise, when aliens come down to challenge earth into a fight to extinction FOR FUN, supplying them with all manner of advanced technology and blueprints to build giant mechs to level the playing field. this was kept a secret, kinda like some area 51 shit. decades later in 2011, a number of young adults (18~26) who have specific traits as outlined by the aliens are put into cryonic sleep. they were promised it'd be for 25 years, but the project stalled, and then a world war broke out, and the waiting time ended up actually being nearly a century. they wake up to a delipidated base with very few actual staff, to the point where most of them have to become bridge bunnies, and many of the things promised to them in the future turned out to not be possible (for example one of the candidates was terminally ill and was promised a cure, or even just a proper diagnosis but woke up only to be given a medicine to treat it indefinitely and with no promise of continued effectiveness). there is also a little time loop bullshit here. sorry. also the government also made their own mechs and end up poaching a few from the candidates throughout the story. later on Something secret happens sorry i wont say. <-i might tell you more if you ask about this one because i like it very much also. but also because its the newest

i finished in stars and time! i think overall the game was like, a 7.5 out of 10 for me. very good but had just a couple things that knocked some points off for me personally

spoilers and more blab under the cut

the good:

i looove a good timeloop game and i love the fact this game was all about the psychological impact of a timeloop that's such an appeal for me (<- played majoras mask as a kid and has never been normal since)

love the art style! the character designs are all really distinctive even just in black and white, gets across their archetypes without being cliches, good character expressions, good stuff

it’s a relatively simple combat system but i did think the rock/paper/scissors theme was fun and unique. i liked how it affected the way the enemies were designed as well with their hands showing what type they actually were. also the jackpot system was really satisfying and helped to make strategic buffing/debuffing flow with actual attacks

i think the way siffrin got gradually more and more disillusioned about everything through the acts was really well done, i loved the little touches like the way so many of the object interactions or even your own bio would change according to where you are in the game

in general the characters were all well done and i liked spending time with them, i could buy that they were an actual party and all had their own things going on as well

the ???:

this is kinda more nuanced than good or bad so it goes here. the game gets VERY repetitive and frustrating at times. this is both a strength and a weakness.

on one hand, it works super well for putting you in siffrin's state of mind. when they're like YOU HAVE HEARD THIS BEFORE i'm like god yeah ikr. you really experience that building exhaustion and frustration from doing the same stuff over and over again, sitting through the same dialogue, etc so you totally understand how they’re feeling

HOWEVER, i don't think the game can get out of all gameplay critique by being like 'it's meant to be like that!!'

a game that is meant to be frustrating is still frustrating. and while some of that frustration works in the narrative's favour, some of it actively took me OUT of siffrin's mindset and made me instead very aware of the fact i was Me, sitting on my couch playing a video game

particularly notable examples of this for me:

oh my goddd why does every fight take so long to load. and i have to wait for a whole turn even if i want to escape the fight

the fact i can only equip one memory at a time and it takes several button presses to get to the equip menu to change

the 'nodding off' mechanic SEEMS good for skipping dialogue but it only seems to work half the time. other times you have to sit and wait for dialogue to load through, even if it's stuff you've seen a million times before with no new additions? not really sure if that was intended or a bug, i couldn't really find a pattern in it

that one part in act 4 (i think?) when you have to read the books in the castle in a specific order except the order seems completely arbitrary and siffrin will just refuse to read the relevant info if you don't follow it. i got so annoyed with this that i had to look up a walkthrough for the specific order because i had read all of the texts MULTIPLE times but just wasn't getting the right order for siffrin to actually read the goddamn text. i love him but i did want to throttle him at this point (particularly because at that point you as the player are already very aware of what the mystery is and you're just waiting for them to catch up)

i think you could smooth the experience for the player significantly and still keep the ludonarrative harmony of the repetitive time loops, fighting enemies over and over, etc.

the bad:

im aware im saying this as a veteran tumblrina but the dialogue felt a bit TOO tumblr-coded at times. idk how else to phrase this but like the puns, the excessive exclamation and question marks, the general vibe just felt like i was reading my own text posts from like 2016 and that did put me off

while the decline of siffrin's mental state was done super well in the first 3-4 acts (imo), i found the actual breakdown in act 5 weirdly sudden and... unconvincing i guess? idk it just really didn't hit for me and everyone's reactions to siffrin's outbursts ALSO felt weird

mira's reaction to frin's comment in act 5 was particularly excessive imo. this itself isn't a critique of the game because i don't think characters have to have perfectly acceptable rational responses to things, and there was obviously a lot packed behind what frin said that made it hurful, but it did seem weirdly unbalanced. for comparison of what they said to each other (actual quotes):

frin: you don't have to be bonded to anyone, you should just accept that you'll always be alone

mira: (literally slaps him) that's horrible, you're lost and useless, you've hurt me, you're awful, you're not my friend, not my ally, not anything, you never were

like... jesus mira. what frin said was bad (even though it was mostly poorly worded) but that's one hell of a reaction. particularly when quite frankly he was much ruder to basically everyone else in the other friend quests and none of them reacted nearly as harshly.

i liked the whole thing siffrin and isa had going on for most of the game, the whole thing with siffrin's touch starvation and general poor self esteem vs. being stuck in a timeloop with a guy who keeps hesitating to confess to you was good stuff, good tension. BUT the final actual confession scene was really questionable. isa's response of 'i was actually pretty flattered you paid enough attention to me to insult my character with pinpoint accuracy yesterday! :)' is WEIRD. that is not a healthy start to a relationship and i need these two to get a lot of therapy before they go into that

tbh in general i found the whole plot went downhill in the last 2 acts. the whole resolution felt rushed, nobody seemed to react to the timeloop reveal with the horror i think it really deserved, we never found out what the deal actually was with the country siffrin and the king were from despite that being such a central (and interesting!) plot point, siffrin felt way too okay in the epilogue considering what he had been through. i get they wanted to go for a happy ending, and i'm all for that, but weirdly i think i would have found it more satisfying if it was messier and we saw more of the fallout from what siffrin went through

ANYWAY i'm aware the bad always ends up looking like a much bigger list than the good but i did genuinely enjoy this game. siffrin is my child now.

re : timeloop au of course i get floofty in on the time travel because theyre blorbo to me and im love them but i also think it would be funny. lillow’s like “no i will not let you come with me. i have lost all sense of personhood and i am constantly in emotional and physical pain i wouldnt even wish this on my arch nemesis” and then remembers how lonely it is to be alone in the timeloop and is like “... unless 😳”

TWST HALLOWEEN THEORY TIME

So i was watching Never Ending Halloween translations on youtube and Trein says this line to them before sending the remaining students off. so i think it might be hinting at something and what is actually going on with the missing students (aka im overthinking😋)

so the animated teaser for scary monsters showed as a frame with everyone looking evil with glowy eyes and the only reason i could think of at first is that they might have gotten possessed by the malicious Halloween ghosts they briefly talked about in last year's event? but idk it still didnt really seem like that was what was going on. they looked like they weren't themselves but not like. possessed.

There was also the malleus timeloop theory but the timeloop part got proven wrong by canon already and malleus also looks wack here lol

So I was thinking. what if the reason the missing students looked evil is not cause they got possessed but instead bcs they got amnesia'd and so now they are under the delusion that they ARE the scary halloween monsters FR

I feel like they might go with this one fr more than the other two previously proposed since it's safer and more kid friendly than POSSESSION and having characters like Lilia and malleus getting possessed sorta exposes too many of their weaknesses early and ruins the ominous build up to diasomnia in my opinion😭

Making the characters go nuts because they just THINK they're someone else has all the benefits of writing them getting possessed minus the gross not kid friendly parts so it basically still works maybe even better and the authors are pretty safe there. Diet possession, if you will😎.

Everyone basically just too wrapped up in halloween roles and not wanting Halloween to end that they manifested this onto themselves 😂😂😂

What Trein tells the remaining unkidnapped students here may be brought back and become relevant again cause like. What if whatever made the halloween committee go nuts starts affecting them the longer they stay in black and white halloween land too. and they like gotta take what Trein said to heart and not forget who they are lest they be trapped in the Halloween world forever...

idk maybe the malicious halloween ghosts can still play into this by probably being the ones who manipulated and trapped the halloween commitee in the mirror world to begin with but not straight up possessing them. The halloween committee just got way too into character basically😂

OBSESSED with your timeloop AU and your last post about made me thinking… When Pete kissess Vegas, would he remember all the timeloops? And in case that timeloop fails for any reason, would in the next timeloop Pete be aware of all of them and because of it still act as naturally as possible because he'd conclude pretty soon that if he gets involved with Vegas too soon the timeloop would fail? So in the last timeloop, things go perfectly and when everything is done, Pete tells Vegas that he remembers all the loops but didn't tell him sooner because it would mess things up and in the end they are the only ones who know the entire truth and it additionally bonds them.

i gotta admit i haven't really thought about a proper resolution for this entire time loop AU yet, mostly because it's just something rattling around in my brain with no real purpose, and now im a bit torn because part of me REALLY LIKES the idea of pete remembering all the timelines after kissing vegas (sort of like TRUE LOVE'S KISS SFJKSHFKSG) and having to sort of guide him into making the right choices without telling him that he knows for everything to go well, but another part of me (the overdramatic hoe one) is like.. WHAT ABOUT MORE PAIN

because i also kinda like the idea of paralleling the original timeline, so i was thinking something like.. after pete kisses vegas they end up having sex (and yeah, vegas should probably know better but he is weak, and tired, and desperate, and needs-wants-misses pete like oxygen), but it only makes the situation worse for pete, because while something in him tells him that this is RIGHT, that this is how things are supposed to be, he still doesn't remember all the different timelines, he just has these pieces of memories that are and aren't his own at the same time, so he keeps being incredibly confused until he breaks down, like in the show, and vegas is horrified to learn what the constant resets are doing to pete, because he had no idea

so vegas ends up explaining to pete what's happening, hoping it would help him, but pete needs time to process everything, and vegas vows not to fail and reset the timeline again, even if he knows that it could mean pete doesn't end up loving him. it's like the ultimate sacrifice he is willing to make if it means pete won't be suffering like that anymore. turns out he actually manages to do things right, the conflict between the main and minor family still kinda happens, that's inevitable, but with kim's help vegas manages to convince kinn and porsche about what's happening, and the only casualties in the end are kan and korn. and im not sure about the circumstances, but basically what i was thinking it could happen is that vegas STILL gets shot in front of pete, and the moment pete is crying over vegas' body, THAT'S when all the memories of all the different timelines (even the original one) flood pete's mind

of course this time vegas survives and we still get our hospital scene, the only differences are that vegas rightfully steps up as the head of the minor family, while kinn and porsche control the main one, and that pete tells vegas he remembers everything

hey! i’ve been writing recaps since day one for the Crocker Corp arg, and figured i should start posting them to tumblr for people who aren’t in the discords! The recaps for the first ten days will be under the read more, and i will start posting daily recaps here :)

DAY ONE  The officalcrockercorp tumblr began sending out an invite to 16 people on tumblr for an all-expenses-paid tour of the CrockerCorp factory. The representative then opened up a q&a about the company. People began to ask more about the representative, who we learned to be an isolated being with glowing red, mottled brown and white skin whom She (crocker) refers to as "Heir", though if that means heir to the company or heir as in the class is unknown. Heir likes whistling, movies, swimming, the color red, bunnies, etc. It is heavily implied that Her and Heir are underwater somewhere. Heir almost certainly has a crocker tiara on and is under control of the batterwitch, as is seen by the frequent obey/consume text when certain questions that She does not approve are asked. Heir has no recollection of saying those obey/consume things. All 16 invitees have responded. There is a security breach where Heir is, and they left to take care of the threat. After saying there was a lot of noise and they had to leave, they dropped the first code- which led to a youtube video of an imgur image of the discord code. The tumblr has continued to post recipes, though there is no sign of Heir. Some people managed to friend and get in contact with a "representative"- while most of their messages only said "Currently all questioning is closed in relation to Crocker Corporation! We thank you for your patience. ". People who asked for jobs were denied for confidential reasons, but one person managed to get in touch with a representative for a short time before they disconnected for unknown reasons. DAY 2   People began to message Jane- the discord representative, and learn more about her situation. Jane had originally been texting normally, but after a "meeting", and a pfp change to include the condesce headband, she could only send standard copied messages. We learned that Jane and Heir were being held captive and controlled by Condy. Heir had been MIA on tumblr for a bit, and people were having coded conversations with Jane, as she could only say "obey consume submit" for quite a while- people resorted to a "once for yes twice for no" type of system. We've learned that Jane and John (who had been going by Heir on the tumblr) were in immediate danger, but that we could safely contact them through the email, and we needed the help of the 16 chosen to help them. Jane then sent some people the invite to the server that the 16 had created, and a few people joined to help them figure things out. The 16 had learned that Jane is currently in May 32nd (lol) 2040, and that the 16 are dead. This death can possibly be prevented, but they are not quite sure how yet. OG16 began to receive coded messages about their classpects- typically insulting each person individually and calling them weak. An encrypted youtube link went up (video 3), it was very difficult to decode, and then Heir went offline and the blog got rebranded to CrockerCorp Employee JE(edited)[11:29 AM]A lot more information has been gained through tumblr dms, discord "hacking", and emails. Using the representative codes that we had gained for JE (john), JH( jade), GT (jake,) and K (condy's wife), people have been talking a lot- im gonna split it up into sections for each app. tumblr dms: tumblr user sarcasmprodigy (one of the og16) had a long discussion with John. Firstly, we learned that DAVE STRIDER, ROSALINE LALONDE, DIEDERIK "DIRK" STRIDER, and ROXANNE LALONDE are essentially wanted by CrockerCorp. Dave for offensive movies, Rosaline for blacklisted literataure spreading anti-crocker propaganda, and Dirk and Roxanna for cybercrimes. After asking for more information about the "project", prod was told they needed a representative code to learn more. They sent K's code, which had been gotten through discord, and began to learn more. K (presumed to by condy's wife), has a higher ranking than John, so he was curious as to why K would ask about it. Prod used the persona of being concerned about the security breach, nd learned that john was only doing what condy told him to, and that nothing that requires a CrockerCorp ID would be told to the public. After questioning about breaches and such, John revealed that he had received an email from Rose Lalonde, the Younger one, containing Roxanne's IP address. John trusts her, as he cannot prove or disprove the IP address, and wishes K the best, and tells her to say hello to Her. emails: As people were standard emailing the representatives, some people decided to make new emails and essentially pretend to be characters- we called them "impersonators". There was a Rose, a Dave, a Dirk, and a Vriska, though most of this information will be from Rose. Rose- referred to as the Younger Rose- has gotten some interesting information regarding timelines. There are two Roses; Rosaline (alpha rose), who is writing anti-Crocker propaganda, and is in frequent contact with Dave Strider, creator of movies, and Rose the Younger (beta rose), who provided a fake IP for Roxanne, as CrockerCorp wants to hunt her down. Dirk- Dirk's emails got us in contact with GT (Jake) and just have some of the funniest things. They clearly believe that they have Dirk on lockdown since they have his sisters (Roxanne's) IP address, and tell Dirk to go meet with Condy, since he presumably has hacked the coordinates of her location. Dirk and Jake had some sassy back-and-forth, ending with the funniest thing of "use code PISSOFFDIRK at checkout for a IHAVEYOURIP% off discount on an order of DRONES$ or more!" so it seems that CrockerCorp is sending drones to the fake address that Rose had sent. lastly is "hacked" discord messages: a few users, mainly @Cosmic , "hacked" into the Crockercorp files using JH's (Jade's) rep code. After trying to access the EMPLOYEE ARCHIVES, which was deemed to be above Jade's privileges, strike two was added onto her identification. Cosmic found information on other codes- JE's code revealed CODE JOHN EGBERT STATUS: COMPLETED RATING: PERFECT INFORMATION: )(A)(A)(A NICE TRY LOSERS, GET BENT AN SUCK MY DIIIIIIIICK (thanks for that, condy.) and using a strange new code labelled TR found CODE TUMBLR STATUS: ONGOING/COMPLETED RATING: DECENT INFORMATION: START TUMBLR BLOG WITH JOHN PROMOTING CROCKER BRAND PRODUCTS. after trying to access "past inquiries", the third strike was added and Jade was summoned to speak with Condy. Fearing that our mistakes have essentially killed Jade, Cosmic emailed John, saying that they couldn't access the room if their card was locked. John frustratedly said, in red "I'll do what I need to do, now go see Her!! You're distracting me from the blog, and I'm only one person after all!" (poor john, please give him a break) As of now, one user is using K's code, since prod is done with it, to access the discord. Everyone has decided that it is best that only one or two people contact the discord/dms/email at a time, and that only one person is ever using a code at a time, since it could be dangerous if two different people try the same code at the same time. I believe that that should be all the crucial information, but that might be edited later if i got stuff wrong! (3/3)[11:30 AM]Additionally. The Meeting between Condy and Jade happens "Off-Camera" recap of the information I got accessing the database under K  Jade: alive, compromised, and unhostile, with two wash (brainwash) strikes. her projects were wiped with her. She has not worked on Sburb We need a code that we don't have yet to see information about the 16 and the "timeloop". jane is unknown (hostile or not), has 26 washes, and is uncompromised. Her id is 2-JC, implying that she is the second employee. I can't search up the first employee. dirk has committed a hilarious amount of crimes and is a stinky boy. he is alive and extremely hostile and once got arrested for "shits and giggles" roxy has committed several crimes including cyberbullying )(IC. dave strider 1 is half alive in a hospital- possibly related to second dave and dirk. crimes include being an asshole (+tall) and the sbahj movie. dave strider 2 is alive and stoic- crimes include calling )(IC a milf, lots of noise complaints on his record. brogarde strider is unknown except for the fact that he is possibly related to dirk and dave 2. most of his crimes inclue cyberbullying, and his very long arrest record mostly includes illegal possession of swords. rose lalonde 1 is alive and calm, at the location that Alice sent in her email. no crimes or arrests. rose lalonde 2 is alive and occasionally hostile, at presumably the same location as rose 1. offspring is unclear, crimes include anti-crocker propaganda, no arrests. ???? lalonde presumably Mom/ beta Roxy. no information. K: accessing her file led to a lot of blanks for name, status, bloodcolor, and projects. )(IC left a note that says ")(I SWEETIE <3" searching for K cause the system to shut down. there was a post on the tumblr that led to a code for another video showing footage of Roxy and Dirk that revealed the name of K- Kussinni. This name was used to finally log into the adfin account. Pat (as the adfin) made a few burner accounts that people can use. We got codes for MP, FP, EA, and DS, being the first few employees of the company. We did, well, adfin work, bumping up privileges for the adfin and guest accounts, creating burners for messages, etc. In classified documents, we learned that the 16 were set to beta test sburb in 2055. Brogarde is wanted ASAP so that he can be interrogated about strilondes. the timeloop file is largely redacted, but has to do with the 16 god tiering. We couldn't message )(IC, but we did get in touch with John for a few minutes before the system shut down. DAY 3  Jake is controlling the blog, though it is now shut down due to a massive security breach courtesy of Roxy and Dirk. Eridan has an account, and we used it to unblock Jade haha. People are talking to the person controlling the CC Discord! Their name is F which we knew from a code that we had gotten quite some time before)- we've been calling them Felix-  and they are a psionic!  They are an absolute 100% certified sweetie and we love them. They were taught emoticons, and even drew their own! They also invited dirk to talk with the 16. Dirk is currently just trying to get to Jake and de-crockertier him. After the security breach, Felix has not responded to anyone.

firstly, the tumblr led to a code to another video. The security breach was due to Dave 1 and Rosaline (both the older/alpha versions), who had infiltrated the Atlantic wing. 1000 drones were dispatched to deal with each of them. The video also showed felix- we now have confirmation that they are a goldblooded psiionic in control of the systems. felix/)(AI/Psiionic felix talked to us for a while! We learned that the breaches have mostly been sorted, Jade and Jane are both alive but in danger. jake is trying to work out Jades compromised identity. Felix told Dirk to piss his pants, and said "HE HE HE HE PISS BOY". Felix only knows the basics about the 16, such as their cl*sspects (which they needed to censor). Felix is not the only system, and the others are not friendly. Felix has only been "alive" for a few days, does not have a classpect, and got very upset when the deaths of the 16 were mentioned. Felix was made for the network to do everything, and vehemently refused to run a self diagnostic.  HAL/DIRK It seems that the Dirk we have been talking to was HAL all along. @ardentTheorist [AT] , dm'ing Dirk, was given a very fun challenge: to hack HAL. Hal had three files: Main, Backups, and Memes. Memes was password protected. Main led to a python file, captchas, perms, and art. when asked about unzipped programs, hal had the amazing line of "I have an unzip your pants program installed in me". not relevant, just very funny. Captchas led to something titled "Hmm.txt" Perms required an admin code. Artwork was simply dirk's canon art. Trying to get into the meme folder and guessing an incorrect password caused hal to shut down. Currently, the contents of the memes, permissions, and backups folders are unknown. Dirk, in response to a partially successful hack of his bot and frustrated about having to reboot Hal, claimed "Yeah, just rid a guy of his privacy. Can't have shit inside a bot folder." DAY 4  Felix: got a lot of new information from felix including ID's for a lot of characters. Kussinni is confirmed to be the Disciple, Sollux is Felix's repair guy who lets Felix get away with his art, and everybody is wearing tiaratops with the exception of )(IC and K. felix is inside of a moniter. Jade's files have merged with Jake's after her accident. Felix can access some cameras but has seen nothing unusual. Dirk was the last person who managed to access Jake's files before the passwords got changed. Only one account has the privilege to prevent people from getting locked out for guessing incorrect passwords. The led to a conversation between F and Dave 1 (David Strider). F, who is using the name Felix (he liked the name we gave him!!!) reached out to try to contact Dirk, but got David instead. David has a prosthetic arm signed by Dirk and Roxy. Felix happened to reach David because he is living with Dirk. Their house seems a bit crowded- it seems that David, Dirk, Roxy, Rosaline, Dave, and Rose the Younger are all living together. That leaves Bro, and ???? Lalonde with unknown locations. Dirk posted something that linked to a little conversation that linked to a discord user- David. People have been talking to him, and we have gotten some useful information amidst all of the memes. Firstly, David attempted to convince people that he was Roxy. This seems fitting for him, as identity theft was on his criminal record. David was probably the cause of the shutdown earlier, though it seems that he and Rosaline were able to get in and out of crockercorp relatively unscathed. This will lead to more security in the future, undoubtedly. It also is why we still have not heard from Felix in a while. David knows a bit about Sburb- he was very shocked to learn that he was talking to people who in time (2040) were dead. He knew about a couple of the 16s deaths, but not all. He did not know anything about the Timeloop (the file we could not access). he knows that Felix likes Dirk, which explains why Felix was trying to contact him earlier. Honestly, we got far more goofs than solid information. David hates being called old but will consent to being called Dadvid, just learned what a dilf is, and is 6'8 and buff. he hates cops. He's remained pretty tightlipped on everything, which is valid since he probably doesn't fully trust us yet. got a new video of dirk pranking david and making him piss his pants. DAY 5   The CC mainframe was rebooted. The person/ai running it is still using ID F, but it is no longer Felix. However, Dirk managed to get a backup of Felix before the system shut down and Felix is now inside of the glasses with Hal. Yes dirk ships Halix (get cucked, ardent). Felix no longer has a blacklist of information that shuts him down, but he also doesn't have access to the mainframe so he can only tell us what he remembers. When the system was rebooted, alice was sent an anonymous message written in binary saying "They found you". this message was sent two minutes before the reset from sector D, where sollux works. We have assumed that sollux has essentially been stalking us. alice responded with a discord tag in binary, so hopefully we will get in contact with Sollux soon. Felix used to have a physical body. The last thing that he remembers from it is being called from his sector by Sollux, who said that he had a "new task". Felix doesn't know Mituna, but believes Sollux might have said it. When sent an image of the Dolorosa, the Disciple, the Sufferer, and the Psiioniic, Felix said he recognized the horns of the Dolorosa and said that he had seen the Sufferer before, in a photo in Kussinni's office. He also has seen the Psiioniic, and Felix is not the Psiioniic. Felix saw him when he was walking to his new sector, and he was in a big room guarded by scary trolls. He was awake and when he looked at Felix the room lit up red and blue, and then sollux told Felix it was rude to stare. Currently, we're waiting with hopes of getting in contact with Sollux. We've gotten a message from sollux and he yelled at us. i'm hoping to get his discord so we can talk to him DAY 6 We got in contact with Sollux. we've put him in a lot of trouble and danger and we need to stop trying to brute force our way into the system, and we've prolly gotten most of the info we can out of it anyway. The only way we should try to get into the system is if we absolutely know the password and preferably run it by sollux first. John is alive. GT says he's doing "mighty fine and dandy" but, well, i dunno how realistic that is. Felix saw him a bit before he was reset and said that he looked sad, but okay. jake was standing in the doorway with him. DAY 7 Dirk has specific orders not to talk about the other striders, though from whom is unclear. A security recap shows that Sollux was sent to check up on Aradia, who is a very important and heavily gaurded project- Artificial Godtiers (implying she godtiered without playing sburb, possibly). She is in her dead god tier. When a mechanical voice said to run the task Timeloop, she floated off of the ground and the room was encased in red light. Sollux has not been heard from. We got the password to Aradia's account and finally accessed the timeloop file. It appears that if anything happens to the 16 before the godtier, the timeloop will run and reset everything. The CC needs all of the 16 to godtier so that they can exploit their powers. The creation date of Aradia's account is redacted, and she cannot access any other files. Sollux is alive, with no wash strikes. Dirk has gone MIA. He's infiltrating CC to rescue Jake. This is risky, and he didn't even tell David about it, just sent a few messages to certain people and left. I expect that he will shut down the system to get in, and hopefully I will get a ping when that happens. Dirk went to rescue Jake, leaving Felix and Hal behind. Hal, Felix, and David will all help us rescue Dirk, though they're unsure as to how. DAY 8  There's a new representative on the CC tumblr: PH. As there is no PH in homestuck but there is a Prince of Heart, it seems that Dirk's mission was. . .  unsuccessful. However, Hal is willing to work with us to save him. We've sent the Trojan file to the network, which will hopefully give us access to the cams. We can, theoretically, back up Hal and upload him into the CC Network; the opposite of what Dirk did to Felix. Hopefully Roxy will help us out. We aim to hack into a tiaratop. Roxy is going to back up Hal and then Ardent will upload him into the CC network. However, we should refrain from uploading anything to the network until we have Sollux's support. When we tried to upload the trojan file yesterday, sollux had to immediately kick everybody off of the system and implement a new password and he is not happy about it. however, that did get him to talk to us. he said that he saw dirk when he had to issue an ID for him, and that he looked extremely happy, though that isn't uncommon for new interns. His eyes were orange. I asked Dirk on the tumblr and he says that his left eye is red. Jake also has one red eye. This could mean that he is only half under control, and that we have a time limit for getting him back. Since Dirk and Jake are halfway there, it seems like its our turn to get them the rest of the way out. I will hopefully get a message from both Finn and Sollux when they are willing to talk, and I can get them to help us out. Our plan failed. But we got close. First and foremost: Finn helped. just a little; letting hal bypass a password, but it's absolutely something. I'll keep talking to him to see where we can get. When we tried to shut down Dirk's tiaratop, sollux yelled at us and deleted the files. sollux, while a cranky little bitchass coward who would rather block someone and pretend that his problems don't exist than actually do something (i promise im only still a little bit upset ;-; ). I tried to see if I could convince him to help, but he updated the security to ensure that we stayed out. I tried to tell him that we wanted to help Aradia, too, but he blocked me at the first mention of her name. (my bad) According to Roxy, Rosaline, Rose, and Dave all left the house to go somewhere. We got a new video that told us nothing we didn't know: it showed Dirk how Sollux described him; one eye red one eye orange, smiling broadly. His tiaratop is in the shape of the Prince crown. DAY 9 was widely uneventful- no answer from Sollux, David taking everything pretty hard, Finn is my best friend :). DAY 10 

 Dirk is a full employee. He's been artificially godtier'ed. It looks like hes similar to aradia- dead eyes. he is most likely being held with aradia. This might seem bad, but we can still save him. Sollux has a connection with Aradia and the AGT thing- this can work if we can get his help. The plan right now is, well, to come up with a plan. I'll talk to finn when he is offline and see if we can get confirmation about a lotta things and mainly see if he can contact Sollux for us. We'll continue to try to get in contact with Sollux. We'll work through this with the Strilondes and hopefully stay optimistic.

Sollux is willing to continue to talk to us!!! After a bunch of arguing, bantering, and death-threatening, he seems to have warmed up to us (he even friended me again!!! :3c). He just needed to be shown a little more kindness :). Amidst all the threats and cruelty, we seem to have learned a few things. CC can "bend time" and "redo anything", probably due to Aradia's powers. They could theoretically reset the timeline to before any of this, but that seems to be an empty threat for now. He can see all of the messages we send, even in hidden channels (we are Not going to witch hunt for a "mole" please and thank you) due to Hot Crocker Corp Tech. Sollux accepts how terrible his position at CC is, though this acceptance is mostly like the influence of the tiara. The tiaras seem to be influncing the emotions of the workers, numbing everything outside of their work. Sollux claimed that he was incapable of caring or remembering feeling happy or proud of, well, anything. He may say this, though it is still apparent that he cares deeply about Aradia. He talks about how pretty she is in her beautiful god tier outfit, and after some persuasion he even says that his favorite color is rust red <3. Unfortunately, the window that Sollux checks up on her through in only one-way, so she never sees or talks to him. This is what he meant when he said that he doesn't think his friends can see him.[5:31 PM]The superiors of CC are spreading propoganda to the workers about people dying when they tried to leave; it seems that they use fear tactics until their workers are completely numbed and controlled by the tiaras. There is no confirmation of these ideas being true or not. Sollux is still adamant about the fact that he is replacable; he uses this to frequently show his respect for Prod; another smart gemini. He mentioned something very curious- he said that the god tier powers of people outside of the 16 do not have to go unused. He told daven't to keep in contact with david for this purpose. As for the others: Hal and Felix seem to be fine, trying to take their minds off of what is currently happening and just enjoy watching some shows together. Both David and Roxy are getting hit pretty hard with everything, but will hopefully be okay. The system is currently shut down because pat mentioned heatbleeding to it. Sollux completely shut down the system at the first mention of it, so I don't think it'll work in the future. I'll hopefully get a ping when it goes back up, though I wasn't able to ask Finn for that before he shut down because it was so unexpected. Finn is very sweet and he's becoming more receptive to me talking to him (he uses exclamation points now instead of just periods!!!) so hopefully when the system goes back online i can talk to him more and he'll be willing to help us when we need it :) Now, this is kinda unrelated, but we should probably be careful about screenshotting most private dm's. Essentially, just don't let them know that you screenshotted it. We still need to make sure that everybody knows what is happening. The plan moving forward is to continue to talk, form allies, and get a solid plan :) . And that's all caught up! I will be posting recaps here at the end of each day from now on :)
