Heavily modified the owl pattern by medamii because I couldn't find a rowlet pattern I like. This is a gift for an acquaintance of mine I will be seeing at con who Loves this pokemon. It's not, uh, screen accurate but I'm kind of charmed by the decisions I made. I hope they agree.

CANON KILLUA CONFESSING FEELINGS

OK SO canon killua (especially aged up and post-chimera ant) would not confess in some long dramatic “i’ve been in love with you forever” speech. sorry ladies and gents, i love y’all, but that’s just not him. sorry.

he’s way too self-conscious about vulnerability, especially in a romantic sense, to put himself in a spot where you could outright reject him. instead, he’d test the waters first… like little trial balloons instead of one big declaration

1. it would take forever for him to admit it to himself - killua would be aware of his feelings way before saying anything, but he’d spend weeks (if not months) second-guessing them. he’d ask himself stuff like:

• do i actually like them, or do i just feel safe with them?

• if i tell them, will it ruin everything?

• are they just a friend? do i see them as just a friend? do they see me as just a friend??

he’s always weighing the risk of losing what you already have against the payoff of more.

2. his “confession” wouldn’t sound like one at first - canon killua = action and implication, not big romantic monologues. that’s just how he talks. it’d probably come out during a casual moment when you’re alone, like walking somewhere at night, waiting for a train, or sitting on a rooftop eating snacks

he’d prolly say something offhand like:

“y’know… i don’t think i could ever like anyone else. everyone else is just… meh.” or some fuckass shi like that😭😭

then he’d immediately try to play it off like it’s not a big deal, maybe change the subject, while still watching your reaction closely

3. he’d back it up with actions before words - before ever saying “i like you,” he’d already be:

• going out of his way to be around you (even if it means rerouting his plans)

• protecting you in subtle ways without making a show of it

• giving you stuff “just because” (food, little trinkets, his jacket if you’re cold)

imma be fr, regardless of how oblivious you are, by the time he says it, you’d probably already know on some level

4. the real moment would be short but meaningful - when he finally says it clearly, it’d be low-voiced, quick, and ONLY after he’s pretty sure you like him back

something like:

“…so, uh… i like you. like, like-like you. just so you know.”

he wouldn’t look at you for more than a half a second while saying it. right after, he’d probably make a joke to defuse the tension—but the blush would give him away. and, let’s be fr, there is ABSOLUTELY a bright pink tint on his cheeks

5. he’d relax a little once you respond positively - killua defaults to expecting rejection, so once you react in a way that confirms you feel the same, he’d shift almost instantly from guarded to confident again. kind of like, 'oh yeah, of course you like me back' (☠️) but there’d still be that soft undercurrent in his voice whenever he talks to you after

Update on stuff I made.

Pic 1: pair of stuffed bunnies for my coworker having his second child. My first in the round project. Accidentally made them inside out.

Pic 2: piece of cable knit, mostly just a test piece

Pic 3: mushrooms. They pop up. Requested by a friend in law. Helped me learn I hate hate the fluffy yarn. Also used it to learn how to string buttons on the yarn to make eyes

Pic 4: flower lace vest. Still needs a home.

Pic 5: goose. Commission for a coworker, who's granddaughters nickname is goose. Taught me I don't care for safety eyes.

Pic 6: baby blanket for the friend I've had the longest. First attempt at blocking squares. Love the border.

Pic 7/8: dear friend asked me to make an Umbreon and I went even if I want to I doubt I could find a pattern... But it would be neat to make with glow in the dark yarn... And accidentally talked myself into it.

Pic 9: sweater vest. May someday add sleeves. Took even longer that that rainbow blanket from the summer because herringbone stitch is a slow beast. Kinda too big for me.

Pic 10: second baby blanket, this time for my work UPS guy. Sounds like it was a "broke up and then found out she was pregnant, back together for the babies sake" situation, and I'm hoping that even if their parents don't do a good job being happy they have this blanket and know someone cares enough to work on something for 3 weeks for them.

Bonus project planning for what's next:

I know that pattern is for a blanket but I am not making a blanket. Feel free to leave your guesses.

For the first time ever I attended the show on opening day,  we arrived Super early to find the car parking getting very full very quickly. We were lucky to have parked in parking area E2, which was around a 5-minute walk to the entrance. I had already got my ticket sent to me, which meant we had to buy an adult and a child ticket.
