Y'know when I started playing Obey Me I just wanted a silly game to kill time that also gave me gender euphoria because it used they/them pronouns for the mc
I did not expect for it to turn into a franchise so popular it ended up having a full on virtual concert
#its so funny to think about the VAs pov#imagine you get cast to play a character in an otome game#then you're asked to sing some character songs and do a podcast#then you're asked to sing some more songs because they're preparing a second game#then you get to fly to America for an expo#then they tell you hey btw we're flying you to America again this time to do a concert so get your passport ready#im guessing they're not the ones dancing and that they're gonna use prerecorded audio (?) but still#imagine experiencing all of that because of a silly dating sim#obey me#obey me!#obey me shall we date

the anon asking about pan lesbian monika may be referring to me, the person who originally sent the hc. if so, hi!
I'm not a pan lesbian (just a lesbian), but the idea came from how comphet-coded monikas attraction to the player is. she's supposedly in love with this person she knows literally nothing about, while being a character in a dating sim meant to fall in love with the player character. it's very likely she believes she's in love because she's supposed to be, and not that she actually is. it's a feeling i resonate with a lot. (altho its to be noted that this works just as well for an aromantic headcanon. both is good.)
that being said, she's also canonically pan and I don't wanna erase that, thus; pan lesbian!
as for why she would identify with it, I imagine it being similar to a friend of mine; experiencing attraction to any gender, but preferring sapphic relationships.
I hope this all makes sense!
That absolutely makes sense. And thanks for the follow-up!
I can totally see this headcanon playing out, very well thought I think! Also, the comphet aspect of DDLC is one of my favorite bits to explore in headcanon, fanfiction, etc. not only because it resonates with me (both trans and lesbian) but also because it leads to discussions like this where we give the girls a choice and discuss what they might do. AHH I love this part of fandom!!!
Anyways, yes, I see what you mean! I also wonder if maybe Monikaa would be one of those pansexuals who's like "Oh I'm pan, but I lean towards girls." or something like that. Not necessarily MSPEC, but still the same idea, y'know? Just spitballin ideas here!
Monika, and by extension her attraction, is a complex topic and I enjoy these conversations about it! Whether she's just pan, pan (sapphic-leaning), ace/panromantic, or pan lesbian, she's valid! And you're valid! And we're all just having healthy discussion of these silly little characters we love so much (;w;) so thank you for the ask~! I really love this topic, might make a quite post outlining some of the thoughts we've generated here in my askbox :3

The last time you were in the fridge, what were you looking for? >> A beverage.
Do you like clowns? >> No.
Have you answered all of these questions honestly so far? >> There have only been two thus far, and I can't imagine lying on a survey question anyway.
What's the third text in your inbox? >> ---
Are you listening to anything at the moment? >> No.
Do you twitch when your falling asleep? >> Yeah, sometimes. Or I have that sudden falling feeling and jerk awake.
Are your dishes in the dishwasher clean or dirty? >> The dishwasher is either still running or finished running, so, either clean or about to be clean.
Are you at home or with friends more often? >> 98% of the time, Iām at home.
When is the last time you were on a bicycle? >> A year ago? At least? I donāt know. I tried to ride for a while but Iām too out of shape to enjoy it and it was discouraging. And by now, Iām worried it needs maintenance from having sat in the garage through a full cycle of seasons and Iām afraid to ride it.
What have you eaten today? >> A veggie burger and chips, a sandwich, and taco mac with Nuggs.
Would you date someone 15 years older than you? >> ---
Do you own a strapless bra? >> No.
Does the person you like know it? >> ---
Do you care if people hate you for no reason? >> I care in some circumstances, but not all.
Did anything brighten up your day today? >> Iām not sure. My day was pretty okay, though. To my pleasant surprise.
How are you feeling at this exact moment? >> Chill. A bit tired.
Are you someone who worries too often? >> I get anxious about things, but Iām not sureĀ āworries too muchā is applicable.
If you could date somebody who would it be? >> ---
Do you ever wonder how other people see you? >> Well, yeah.
What is one good thing you're known for? >> ---
How about one bad thing? >> ---
Are you taller than most? >> Most children, yeah. LOL

Are you the type of person who likes to be out or home? >> I like to be home.
What time do you normally go to bed? >> Between 10p and 12a.
What is one thing that is currently bothering you? >> My neck is still kind of sore, probably from sleeping wrong the other night or something. Itās getting better, but I also keep accidentally twinging it.
What did you do today? >> Read some of the book Iām on, watched a few episodes of Avenue 5, played some Torchlight 2, browsed tumblr, browsed Reddit. Not in that order.
Do you consider yourself to be attractive? >> No.
What was the last thing that you drank? >> A shandy.
Is anything annoying you now? >> No.
Has anyone ever said i love you to you and not meant it? >> How would I know, unless they told me (and in my experience people generally do not tell)?
Do you regret going out with the last person you did? >> Eh. Not really. Like, it sucks and I hate that the trauma from those interactions is still haunting me and affecting my current relationships, but it is what it is.Ā
Do you realize it when you curse? >> I mean, more or less.
When was the last time you showered? >> This morning.
Who did you last talk to in person? >> Sparrow.
Do you ever have days where you just don't do anything? >> No. Even when Iām deeply depressed I will move my hands to put on Netflix (and then click āyesā when it periodically asks if Iām still watching), lol. Thatās something.
Have you ever been extremely tired but refused to go to sleep? >> Yeah.
What is your favorite episode of True Life, if you have one at all? >> ---
Have you ever experienced something paranormal? >> Maybe.
What's the longest amount of time you've been stuck in traffic? >> ---
Best field trip experience? >> ---
Have you ever been to New York City? >> I used to live there.
If so, is it all its cracked up to be? >> Whatās it cracked up to be, exactly? People say a lot of things about NYC, not all of it positive. It also depends on, you know... your socioeconomic standing. Wealthy folksā NYC is a completely different place from poor folksā or homeless folksā NYC, despite being on the same patch of land...
What is the most amount of money you've spent on a meal before? >> I have no idea.
What museums have you visited, if any? >> In NYC: MOMA, Museum of Natural History; in Philadelphia: Franklin Institute; in Chicago: Museum of Science & Industry, Adler Planetarium (itās also an astronomy museum); in Michigan: Grand Rapids Art Museum, Grand Rapids Public Museum. Those are just the ones I remember, mind you. Might have been to a couple of others and just forgotten about them.
Have you ever had a group project and one of your partners bailed on you? >> Maybe when I was in school, idk.
What's your worst traveling experience? >> Probably every time I had to take a Greyhound from Colorado to NYC (or vice versa).
Sims 1, 2, or 3? Why? >> Iāve never played the first one. I like the vast amount of custom content resources for 2, the innovation of 3, and the continued innovation of 4. Otherwise, theyāre mostly the same to me except the graphics just get smoother over the years.
Have you ever dealt with noisy neighbors or roommates? How did that go? >> Yes. Poorly, obviously, for me anyway.
Who was (or is) the teacher that gave you the hardest time in school? >> ---
Best muffin you've ever had? >> I donāt like muffins.
Have you ever taken a woodshop class? >> Once.
If so, was it required? >> No, it was an elective.
How much time do you spend on Facebook, if you have one? >> Hardly any. I just check it every few days or whatever, for messages mostly.
What area of math are you best at? Worst? >> I donāt know.
How do you feel when you meet someone with the same music taste as you? >> I donāt care if people like the same music as I do, as long as theyāre not rude about genres they donāt care for. I like talking about music with people, but it always ends up being thisĀ āthis genre is better than that genreā orĀ āthis era is better than that eraā circle jerk and thatās so fucking boring.
What is the strangest thing you've ever seen outside of your house? >> *shrug*
Do you believe in luck? Why or why not? >> It can be a useful concept.
How often do you "half-ass" things (put little effort in)? >> Whenever I donāt have the energy to whole-ass something, but I donāt want to just not do anything at all.
Do you ever feel self-conscious when you eat around other people? >> No. I feel annoyed when I have to eat around other people, because then I have to hear other people eating.
Has a teacher ever made you hate yourself/your work? >> Probably.
How reliable is your internet connection? >> Itās quite reliable.
Have you ever missed a meeting/event that was required/necessary? >> Yeah.
What's something that makes you incredibly nervous? >> I canāt think of anything off the top of my head.
What's the latest you've ever stayed up to finish homework/a project? >> ---
If you don't have glasses, how would you feel if you had to get them? >> It wouldnāt bother me too much. Unless my vision started failing really badly, because, you know... I like seeing.
If you do have glasses, how would you feel if you didn't need them anymore? >> ---
How many vegetarians do you know? >> Iām not sure.
Have you ever considered going to art school? >> No.
Is there anyone in your life who consistently angers you? >> No.
How quickly can you write an essay? >> I donāt know.
Have you ever had problems falling asleep in class? >> In high school, i was put on multiple psychotropic/anti-depressant drugs, none of which I actually needed, so they all had pretty adverse effects on me. Including making me fall asleep in class almost constantly.
Have you ever been on the barrier or front row at a concert? >> I usually was.
If you have a job, who is your least favorite coworker/manager? >> ---
Favorite episode of Spongebob? >> I donāt like that show.
Do you have any silly/odd emotional connections to anything/anyone? >> I donāt want to call any of my emotional connections silly or odd. Especially since I have a hard enough time making them in the first place -- I want to encourage and support those connections, not disparage them. :/
Are your parents supportive of you? >> I took this survey almost a decade ago, and my answer then was that he was supportive even if he didnāt always approve. I was really on some bullshit then, I guess... because thatās just not true. He only supported what he thought was appropriate for me to be involved in, and when I invariably wanted to do or be other things, he was dismissive and almost derisive. Being supported in my being and endeavours is not a common theme in my life and it starts with that motherfucker.
How often do you take the train to go places? >> I donāt take it much anymore; the last time I took it was to go to Chicago and back, as an experiment (Sparrow wanted to see if it was truly better than driving there and back). When I lived in the City, of course, I took a subway all the time. Really miss that.
Do you play with your phone in awkward situations? >> I guess I would, if I found myself in a situation I thought was awkward. I usually donāt.

Did I miss your head canon on Magnus lol? (Ofc you donāt have to respond to this if you donāt want to) š¤£
Held on to this until todayās posts rolled out, since I think this relates somewhat to whatās happened lol
Overall, I think Magnus is the type of guy where what you see is what you get: heās a lovable person, optimistic, silly around his friends, fairly naive and trusting. Since heās such an open book in the house, thereās not much to explore with him except for how he navigates his love life. Which inside the house, itās clear to everyone except our favorite green haired boy that Magnus has it badĀ for Gian. His interactions with Gian are playful and friendly in a group, but he getās shy and flustered when Gian does that thing where heās all affectionate (hanging all over Magnus, calling him cute pet names). The thing is, per Magnusās entry post, he wasnāt supposed to necessarily be this bundle of nerves when it came to romance. Heās experienced with guys and was more than ready to come into the house and have a showmance.
So where does this shyness come from all of a sudden when Magnus should be used to telling guys how he feels? Essentially, itās the house. I imagine that Magnus has been in a lot ofĀ āsituationshipsā rather than actual relationships (tinder hookups, first dates that never make it past that, one night stands, etc). In those types of relationships, thereās not a lot of time to get invested in anyone very deeply. But the BB house is literally you and 9 other strangers spending the summer trying not to lose your mind to boredom. So you bond: you talk about your lives, your hobbies, your hopes and dreams; everything is compressed into this short amount of time because thereās not much else to do but hang out in the backyard, sleep, or talk. Since Gian and Magnus have been aligned from the beginning, theyāve had a month and some change where their relationship has been in a pressure cooker of sorts, and Magnus has essentially been presented with the first relationship that he cares about lasting the test of time. Simply put: he does not want to fuck this up.Ā
Gian is special to him, and he wants to keep him around for longer than a one night stand situation. This is why it takes so long for him to even dare to say anything about his crush. As for his weird kiss with Yara, my best explanation is Magnus was trying to recapture that feeling of unattached experience. Definitely not the target I would have expected from him, but itās the Sims and weird shit happens lol
#magnus is not super mysterious#but i think this is really the only aspect of him we don't have a grasp on yet#asks#bb headcanon#bb headcanons#awolfgeeksclothing#colourfullsims

Vidja Games
So I checked out Game Informerās list of the top 300 greatest video games, and they are objectively wrong, lol (I canāt imagine the fights that went into making this list??)!
Iām no critic, and Iām not interested in attempting to objectively rate games, but here are my (subjective) faves in rough order-ish, if youāre interested!Ā They are arranged by franchise for my sanity below the cut.
The Elder Scrolls (TES)
My all time favorite video game series is TES, although I wasnāt able to stomach playing I and II.Ā In order, my favorites are: Morrowind, then Oblivion, then Skyrim.
Morrowind is unfriendly to casual gamers, and even experienced folks need to learn the lay of the enormous world, how to fast travel, and even how to level and plan characters to best effect.Ā The learning curve is enormous, and if you decide to play a different type of character later on, youāre stuck!Ā You might even have to start over, since you level your character by increasing the major and minor skills you chose upfront.
But I have never experienced such an open, imaginative world.Ā The later installments felt both smaller and less varied.Ā In Morrowind, youāll find everything from sprawling floating cities to houses built into enormous mushrooms, with ashlands, swamps, and mountainous terrains in between, complete with hell-on-earth smack-dab in the middle of everything.
Oblivion is more user-friendly than Morrowind, and it has some of the most engaging quests in the series.Ā What it loses in environmental diversity and sheer exploration potential, it almost- almost- compensates for in fun quests (thereās much less āfetch me some swamp muckā involved), easier transportation, and the wonderful world of Shivering Isles, an expansion.
Skyrim is the most accessible of the three by far, and itās forgiving in that it allows players to change their play style on the fly with little repercussions.Ā It also has the best combat.Ā Sadly, the repetitive environments make it far less compelling to explore than its predecessors, which is a huge part of TESās charm for me.Ā I also found the enemies repetitive.Ā The more fanciful enemies are almost absent, and the few that exist are tied to specific daedric quest lines.Ā Do you know how hard it is to recharge enchanted items when you only encounter a handful of daedra?Ā Wolves and trolls just donāt fill them back up well.
Also, while the accessibility widens the target audience considerably, it cuts into the customization options previously available to more experienced gamers.Ā That was a huge disappointment for me, personally.
To be clear, though, I still adore Skyrim.
Personal anecdote:Ā My Morrowind strategy book was so worn that it fell apart, so I punched holes in the pages and kept it in a binder. Ā I took out the fast travel map and the local map of whatever area I was combing to find a dungeon door tucked into a cave hidden behind ivy or whatever.Ā I still have it; itās a sentimental treasure.
The Sims
The more open-ended a game is, the more I like it, and The Sims is king of that arena! Ā For me, 3 is by far the best installment. Ā 2 introduced the idea of having types of Sims with personal goals to meet to create direction for the player, but ultimately, it felt like I was stuck with the same five Sims over and over again. Ā The wishes and moodlet system of 3, along with the five slots for personality traits, gave me so much more power to create Sims that felt like actual characters.
I... donāt even want to know how much of my life Iāve put into The Sims...
My ranking: Ā 3>1>2>4
It should be noted that I didnāt mind 1ā²s lack of direction, since my imagination alone is way more than enough to pull me forward in a sandbox game. Ā In comparison, 2 felt restrictive by creating five character types, limiting me to that in a way I couldnāt ignore.
Personal anecdote: Ā I received the original Sims for Christmas when I was in middle school. Ā I accidentally played from bed time until 4 AM, which is the closest Iāve ever come to pulling an all-nighter.
Sonic the Hedgehog
WHERE DO I EVEN START WITH THE BLUE BLUR.
Sonic was an enormous part of my childhood, guys. Ā I played all the games. Ā I watched both cartoons (the one with Sally and the Freedom Fighters and the one where itās just Sonic/Tails/Eggman/some robots), I learned to read with the comic books. Ā I have a vivid memory of my brother taunting me by refusing to let me see his comics ābecause I couldnāt readā... Ā So I spite-learned using the comics when he wasnāt paying attention.
I donāt think I can pick a favorite! Ā As a kid, I played Sonic 3 the most; I was a huge Knuckles fan, so that might have played a role (also the original Sonic was too difficult for me at the time, although I certainly tried). Ā But I also loooooved Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. Ā And Sonic Generations was so much fun!
Mario Bros
Lord, I was playing Mario games before I could read, I donāt... Ā Mario has always been around for me, okay? Ā Itās a huge part of my story, and the franchise is so iconic that thereās little for me to say. Ā There are way too many amazing games in this franchise for me to name, but personal faves include: Super Mario RPG, Super Mario World, and Yoshiās Island.
The Legend of Zelda
This is another franchise where I donāt know what to say... Ā Itās too iconic for me to offer much. Ā Zelda games are known for their exploration and adventure, even from the beginning. Ā Ocarina of Time was a big part of my childhood, but I also adore the newest installment, Breath of the Wild. Ā And I know this may be silly, but I love Hyrule Warriors! Ā I canāt wait to play it on the Switch with all the DLC.
And the music??? Ā Guys????? Ā THE MUSIC?!?!?! Ā Ā
BioshockĀ
Amazing atmosphere, fun game play, and one of the best stories in gaming history add up to an unforgettable experience.Ā Also a fore-runner to the idea of playing dialogue and recordings while the player explores, a trend that caught on in a huuuge way.
Persona
Itās hard to describe Persona games...Ā They basically combine Jungian psychology with various mythologies, sprinkle in some horror (or glob it on in the case of 3), throw in an RPG, and add a heaping serving of everyday high school life.Ā The games tackle a wide range of ideas and game play, creating a unique experience that has drawn a devoted following.
Iāll make this quick:
3:Ā Best story and atmosphere, worst/most needlessly frustrating game play, very prickly cast lol
4:Ā Best characters and character development
5:Ā Best game play (exquisitely polished game play, really), best overall style, worst story and character development
My ranking is 4>3>5.Ā It should probably be noted that story and character are king for me, so while 5 was incredibly polished mechanics wise, the comparatively weak story and characters sunk it to the bottom of the list for me.Ā It was one of those games where I understood where they were going hours ahead of time, and then they would explainĀ āthe twistā to the player for half an hour over and over and over.Ā Frankly, it was... kind of insulting, and soured the experience for me.
Also, Mona, I swear to god, how am I supposed to pass school if you donāt let me study or do my homework because you think I need to sleep at 5 PM every day ahhhhh!Ā XD
Harvest Moon
Oh god, hereās another franchise I donāt want to delve into in terms of hours Iāve spent playing O_O
I canāt even explain why I like these games...Ā In HM, you are a farmer, and your job is usually to prove to the villagers that youāre a valuable member of society so that they wonāt evict you from your own inherited property.Ā (Iām curious about their deeds and legal policies, lol.Ā How do you write that clause up?).
These games combine farming with socialization and light dating sim elements, and time management is the name of the game.Ā They pull in players by tapping into the universal desire to create order and advancement.
My favorite installment is Friends of Mineral Town.Ā I also adored Harvest Moon 64, but the controls are sadly too dated for me to replay it.
Pokemon
Iām sure Iāve missed at least one, but Iāve played almost every mainstream release of Pokemon since Red and Blue came out.Ā It must be doing something right, lol!
Iām a huge sucker for games where you choose monsters to raise.Ā Itās so fun to assemble a team based on your tastes and raise them just so!
My favorite release is the remake of Gold and Silver.
Monster Rancher 2
OH MY LORD I played this game to the point where Iām shocked the disc still works.Ā In Monster Rancher 2, you find monsters by placing discs into your Play Station, which each encode a monster.Ā In order to access the strongest monsters, you must raise your rank as a trainer by winning official tournaments.
I wish I could explain why I latched on to this particular game so hard, but...Ā I think it had something to do with the massive variety of monsters, the difficulty of the tournaments (I never did hit S rank, and not for lack of trying!), and the myriad of odd ways to unlock special monsters.
Mario Kart
Seriously, who doesnāt like smiting friends and family on the race track?Ā MK is a fun, family-friendly way to deliver a beat down...Ā As long as you contain your desire to cuss like a sailor, anyway.
Itās so hard to pick a favorite here!Ā Itās hard to top the original for the challenge...Ā But Double Dash and Infinity are contenders, too.
Danganronpa
Danganronpa games are visual novels that mix survival, horror, and crime-solving into a dark, bizarre, unique experience. Ā Iāve written a ton about this series lately, so I wonāt delve into it here, but you can check out the danganronpa tag on my blog for more.
Kingdom Hearts
These games are so charming and fun to play! Ā Iāve never completed one on my own- linear games are rough for me- but Iāve seen my husband play them all, even the (many) extra installments. Ā KH2 is probably my favorite, although Birth by Sleep was amazing, too.
Final Fantasy
Iāll admit that I donāt really enjoy playing Japanese RPGs; linear gameplay doesnāt appeal to me much in general.Ā But the FF franchise is famous for its sweeping narratives, imaginative environments, and breath-taking music, and I enjoy them for that.Ā Iāve watched my husband play X-XV, and I briefly joined him in playing XI and XIV.Ā My favorite is probably X...Ā Although I have an enormous crush on Ignis from XV.Ā Ā
My favorite FF game to play is Theaterhythm: Curtain Call.
Mass Effect
How do I say this...Ā I donāt think Iāve ever played a game that better simulated becoming an entire universeās hero and moral center.Ā In Mass Effect, you shape the world and the political climate in unprecedented ways.Ā By the end of 3, every player is so deeply invested in their Shepard and the world s/he created.Ā In that sense, itās en epic experience without peer.
Destiny
I love playing Destiny with my husband and our friend!Ā Iām a titan, Tony is a hunter, and our buddy is a warlock, and together, we are... three guardians, lol!Ā Ā
Okay, so the vanilla Destiny release needed some help, but it became a great game with the expansions.Ā Iām still waiting for that breath of rejuvenation for 2, but I treasure the time we spend together kicking ass as a team.
Left 4 Dead
This game redefined what co-op meant to me.Ā I always thought of it as Halo, basically competing on the same team against other players.Ā And yeah, you do that in L4D...Ā But the cooperation angle that this game brought to the table was more or less unprecedented.
In L4D, if your team of ragtag survivors doesnāt work together, itās unlikely that anyone will survive.Ā I spent a lot of free time in college playing this with my friends spread out over different schools.Ā I had so, so much fun with it.
Although 2 had more varied game play, which was great, I enjoyed the original more, mostly because the online game play wasnāt as loaded in favor of the zombie team.Ā Objectively speaking, though, the sequel was the more robust game.
Personal anecdote:Ā L4D is where I learned about dealing with males online.Ā With Halo, which I also played at the time, I only enjoyed it enough to play it with people I knew.Ā I loved L4D so much that I would log in to play even when my friends werenāt available, which meant that I was teamed with random players.
I have a very feminine voice, which apparently means that I am meant to be treated like crap online.Ā Even though itās a co-op game, and communication is important, I spent most of my sessions with the headset turned off.
Borderlands
THIS GAME, I HAD SO MUCH FUN WITH IT! Ā The crass humor, the expanse of wastelands, the gun-slinging insanity, the incredible couch co-op! Ā Whatās not to love?
Sadly, the sequel was a downgrade from the original, but the first game was an amazing ride. Ā Iāve been considering replaying it with Tony with all of the DLC.
Metal Gear
Iāve never played these myself, but I watched my husband play the first three.Ā Theyāre so cinematic and goofy and over-the-top and awesome!Ā I love breaking out my Solid Snake gravel voice, too.Ā My favorite is... probably 3?Ā Itās hard to pick between 2 and 3, though...Ā
Disgaea
Hmm...Ā How to describe these games...Ā Theyāre tactics games, I guess?Ā And thereās a lot of story, too...Ā Game play wise, the later installments perfect what the earlier ones started, but you canāt beat the story and characters of the original.Ā Laharl is still one of my all-time favorite male video game characters.Ā Heās... such a brat?Ā I love him???
Honorable mentions in no order (ie, Iām tired of writing descriptions, sorry to the rest of these games):
Halo, Dragon Age, Fallout 3, Ratchet & Clank, Resident Evil, Portal, Soul Calibur, Tetris Attack, Uncharted, Ms. Pacman,Ā the Batman Arkham games
EDIT:Ā I forgot Nier: Automata and Super Smash Bros!Ā FOR SHAME!
