Completely personal preference but gonna be real with you, vampires and werewolves and stuff like that just don't hit the same for me without the angst, the guilt, the terror, like what's the point, "oh but what if he was just a puppy," yeah yeah, that's nice, I don't care, what if their very being was tearing them apart from the inside, what if the hunger never stops clawing and clawing and clawing even if you have it under control for the moment, not to say there's not exceptions or variations, those who've come to terms with or revel in their nature or etc., different opportunities for silliness or softness for sure, but to strip *all* manner of horror or discomfort from the lore, it's like wow, where is the appeal, the flavour, I hope you're hungry FOR NOTHING, just like your "vampire" apparently

i have absolutely no idea how long ago this was from but like. y'all what even is this offhand ask lmao ( ; ⚆ _ ⚆ )

but alright screw it, just to set the record straight: i loved Big Time Rush lots and lots, that much is obvious. the nick show itself was such an integral part of my childhood, and i absolutely have no regrets about rediscovering the band last 2020 and diving in headfirst right into the deep end *Hot Summer by Heffron Drive starts blasting out* of their music and inevitably joining the fandom. i'm especially forever thankful for all the interesting experiences and fun projects and amazing friends i've made along the way, so i'm sincerely always going to have a certain fondness for BTR in the deepest crevices of my vv heart and soul.....

although yes, certainly *that* whole situation and other such related unfortunate controversies had kinda soured it to the point where i got uncomfortable calling myself a rusher—but that ultimately wasn't what made me fall out, it was just plain 'ol ✨burnout✨ idk keeping up with the fandom just got a little bit too hectic and way too toxic for me, so i moved on to other things better for my peace of mind. anyway, i'm mostly into cool J-pop stuff and ofc my most beloved svensk pojkband FO&O nowadays (also for language-learning purposes hehe :^D) and tbh these have been so incredibly wonderful and healing for me.....but i confess, i still kinda miss BTR and check in on them from time to time. hell, i even have a whooole bunch of chaotic BTR ocs that casually live rent-free in my mind now and forever and i'm constantly tempted to return to this rotting blog just so I can endlessly infodump lore abt them but i'm Annoying™ and who'd want that anyway soooo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

so yes, i do love Big Time Rush. despite everything, i still like the show and the music, i like all the silly wacky unhinged creations and nostalgic memories i have of it, i like the fandom generally and seeing notifs still pop up on this inactive blog as the ever-faithful rushers continue to thrive and be inspired by the band and its legacy (shoutout to all the new-wave tumblrushers hehe i see u guys much love and hugs and i hope y'all keep up all the fun vibes and creativity here mwah xoxo (⁠*⁠＾⁠3⁠＾⁠)⁠/⁠～⁠♡), and i really don't wanna allow anything to ruin all those good feelings i got from them, even if that means being critical and letting go of certain aspects. i don't have to love everything about it, really. just enough for me is hopefully enough ❤️‍🩹

*raises hand* thoughts on the ethical difference between resetting your pacifist run save file vs moving all your save files into a different folder, forcing the game make a new one? does that recreation count as remaking the universe, or is it still resetting the timeline, just with a different option still in your pocket? or is the difference negligible, as the existence of a happy version of things still does not negate that you brought about misery again?

well, this is an impossibile question to answer from the get go, as file manipulation of this kind was... obviously not accounted for by the game!

my opinion would be: it's whatever is still "technically true" while not allowing you to fully get away with your actions either. yeah, maybe copying the file doesn't erase that world, but it DOES freeze it in time, so can you truly call it "saving"? maybe life goes on for the other characters, but since you're still playing the game, frisk is ripped away from their happy ending and their friends have to live on without them or even a chance to say goodbye. maybe they get memory loss. maybe they retain their memories but get thrust back to the beginning, underground, since the file itself is just flags for whether "x thing has/hasn't happened in the game session" (ergo, the game isn't in session anymore, so things go back to the start, but the information remains). stuff like that!

What is your OC's fatal flaw? Are they aware of this flaw?

i think my opinion of elliot's fatal flaw differs from him. he'd probably say something about his bleeding heart reaching out to issues that're too big and complicated. i'd say he's selfish, insecure, self-absorbed, and petty. If he didn't place himself so high in his own priorities, he'd be able to see others for more than what they are to him, and he wouldn't rank personal slights beside actual dangerous issues. He also has enough self-hatred and gossipy-ness about him that he somewhat enjoys his own miseries instead of solving them (see: letting xan's engagement ruin things for him).

nol's brain just needs a total reset honestly. self sabotage is his MO, and while he doesn't really recognize it, he does know that his perspective is not the widely held or even "right" one. it's not that difficult to figure out by people's stares that he's said or done something unacceptable, which makes him self-conscious and angry. this part of him gets featured in these writings where he admits he's out of proportion but can't help it re: heresy and dragons.

What is an alternative life path your OC might have gone down? How different would their life be if they'd made those decisions?

nol's life would unironically be better without elliot in it, i think. mostly in the long run? their friendship was smth nol needed at the time it began--a fun distraction from the war and a little extra motivation to act like a normal human. but getting to know elliot upset nol's politics, faith, sexuality, and priorities in a way that he wasn't prepared for, and it compounded nascent complexes into life-threatening anxieties. elliot's active help is what keeps nol on track to a positive outcome, but without elliot at all, nol could've found a friend & lover that doesn't cause him as many problems.

most likely, he'd run into some person at church that he could share at least an economic class with. he needs familiar, mundane problems like carrying egg crates to the markets. less arguments abt morality, money, & responsibility. frankly, a female partner would work out better for him in a lot of ways. he understands & doesnt pathologize his attraction to women, he operates under a certain amnt of misogynist chivalry & awe (that doesnt take an entire deconstruction of his identity to eliminate), ishgardian society as a whole would facilitate & accept it, etc.

elliot is tougher tho... if i'm following the 'remove nol' route, he'd just try and find smth else to distract himself with. hopefully that's a person he can rely on, but lbr it won't, so he'll have to face all of the familial problems he ignored on his own: josseloux's past returning in the form of hoare, the social entanglements of his cousin julia and aunt gwladys, his grandfather trying to mend relationships before his death schisms everything.

elliot also wouldn't have much of an attachment for the Plight Of The Soldier, so he'd never do that whole nursing thing, or fighting with policy makers about veteran disability thing, or whatever else was useful in his repertoire besides 'music.' of course, I think he'd still be with his crowd of dandies writing circular pamphlets about pacifism and industrialization, and that would lead him to the republic floor—but it wouldn't make him very good or experienced politician.
