so, the entire grid is aware of max's horrendously large crush on rico. mostly because he's really, really obvious about it. (to them. rico's never noticed any difference because max is always like that around him) charles was aware there was really only one person this could be for! and it's a win-win by giving max a difficult criteria, honestly. he's looking out for his feelings!! he's aware that max was nervous rico wouldn't want him outside of the hex, so if he had to have the hex an extended amount of time, or try to break it more than once...

he was trying to give max as much time with rico as possible and the penalty points wouldn't hurt either

max had asked charles for the hex, but they didn't talk about the specific criteria, so when he sees 6 in under 2 hours his reaction is entirely genuine 😭 (internally he's thinking that if charles has made penetration a requirement for all of them, he's going to run him off the road)

feelings are scary!! but max and charles have known each other their entire lives and seen each other through all sorts of embarrassing hexes already, so, it's not that much of an anomaly. (once you've accidentally switched bodies, the shame is kind of just gone. they've been in some absurd hexes together)

Honestly would love it if DE made a quest where after you complete 1999 that some type of time Fuckery happens and they end up in the Original time and meet the Operator and Lotus and they have to get back to 1999 through a bunch of tasks. That way Hex gets to see all the messed up shit Drifter always talks about. Imagine the banter and voice lines between everyone plus any romance-specific lines like the Operator just going up to your LI and going “I think I'm technically your in law”
