Hey, when I was cleaning out my storage unit I found my old CDs AND an external CD drive, and I found some old CDs with music that has VANISHED FROM THE GODDAMNED INTERNET WITHOUT A TRACE.
First, two songs I've had stuck in my head for probably like five years but I couldn't listen to them because even though the artists who made them still have some internet presence, this particular stuff isn't around.
Man, I've had that song (And a couple others I can't upload, because apparently if you upload a song to a draft post, then decide to delete the file and put it in another part of your draft, it still counts against your daily upload limit) in my head for YEARS now and there's nothing I could do about it.
Do you realize that before the internet you would just hear a song on the radio and if you didn't hear the DJ explain who it was you just had to be okay with the fact that you might never hear it again?
They made a whole episode of Pete and Pete about it. It's called "A Hard Day's Pete". It's good!
Okay, but those are songs where the internet sort of knows they exist, before now nobody could listen to them online, but there were discog listings, or bandcamp pages for the people who made them.
I downloaded all these off of MP3.com 25 years ago on a 56k modem. It took like an hour to download one file.
Okay, grandpa, nobody cares, well you're gonna care, because I know you kids today like this "lost media" stuff and I have unearthed some fucking proper lost media. Stuff so totally and utterly forgotten that nobody even remembers that they don't remember it.
Despite working under the incredibly specific name of magiCboY and listing these tracks under the equally specific album name "A Week on The Red Planet" whoever made these tracks has pulled a goddamned DB Cooper.
There is nothing about this on the english speaking internet that I can find. No hits on Google. No hits on DuckDuckGo. None whatsoever for the album title or the band name or two of the track titles. The third title, "Biker Billy Cooks With Fire" is a reference to an American cable access cooking show from the 90s.
Which looks like a cool show but doesn't really help.

Christopher Wiggins at The Advocate:
Social media platforms are failing LGBTQ+ users—and in some cases, actively endangering them. That’s the conclusion of GLAAD’s 2025 Social Media Safety Index, released Tuesday, which shows that protections for LGBTQ people online have eroded dramatically over the past year, especially on platforms owned by Meta and Google. The report, now in its fifth year, delivers a sobering snapshot of an online environment increasingly hostile to LGBTQ expression, particularly for transgender and nonbinary people. GLAAD’s scorecard, which evaluates six major platforms—TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, and X—found that every company received a failing score. TikTok was rated highest at just 56 out of 100. X, formerly Twitter, scored the lowest at 30. “At a time when real-world violence and harassment against LGBTQ+ people is on the rise, social media companies are profiting from the flames of anti-LGBTQ+ hate instead of ensuring the basic safety of LGBTQ+ users,” GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said in a statement. “These low scores should terrify anyone who cares about creating safer, more inclusive online spaces.” The most alarming developments detailed in the report include Meta’s overhaul of its “Hateful Conduct” policy to permit users to characterize LGBTQ+ people as mentally ill—language GLAAD says echoes political and religious attacks aimed squarely at the trans community. YouTube, meanwhile, removed “gender identity and expression” from its list of protected characteristics under its hate speech policy, a quiet but significant policy change that leaves trans users vulnerable to targeted abuse, the report notes.
GLAAD’s 2025 Social Media Safety Index report reveals that safety of LGBTQ+ people on social media outlets, especially on those owned by Meta and Google, have plummeted.

Do you think you could post your zenith of stars AU snippets onto Spacebattles too? I think it would be easier to read them all at once on Spacebattles than Google Docs
There are quite a lot of AU snippets to move onto SB in that case. Would this count as flooding, too? I'm not entirely certain. Part of the reason for just threadmarking the Google Docs link was so I wouldn't need to worry about any of this haha... especially because the AUs themselves are quite disorganized, too, given that many of them originally spawned from Tumblr asks.
That being said, if most people would like for AU snippets to be properly moved over, then I will consider it!

Search Engines:
Search engines are independent computer systems that read or crawl webpages, documents, information sources, and links of all types accessible on the global network of computers on the planet Earth, the internet. Search engines at their most basic level read every word in every document they know of, and record which documents each word is in so that by searching for a words or set of words you can locate the addresses that relate to documents containing those words. More advanced search engines used more advanced algorithms to sort pages or documents returned as search results in order of likely applicability to the terms searched for, in order. More advanced search engines develop into large language models, or machine learning or artificial intelligence. Machine learning or artificial intelligence or large language models (LLMs) can be run in a virtual machine or shell on a computer and allowed to access all or part of accessible data, as needs dictate.

do u think Ashton ever goes like: "Damn, I wanna find this picture of myself but i don't have it in my own phone, might as well try to find it on the net" and then he goes and searches and there it is, in This Blog, with added humorous commentary in the tags? That's something that could happen yk
My question is: do you think he'd block my blog immediately or bookmark it for the next time he needs an ego boost? 😂

forgot to say this intil now. my psychologist told me (after two years) that the reason she didn't give me my full PAI results was bc it clocked me as intentionally giving negative responses -_- she actually wanted to give it to me anyway bc its like. information i pay for but the psychologist who ownd the practice told her not to. which is annoying lmao But she's going to let me retake it
