Next update
Hello everybody!
It has been some time, I got burned out of the project and focused on other things to clear my mind. Anyways, since August I have been thinking about some launcher I could have for my game, and I've done exactly that. Here's the download link, inside my itch.io.
I'm planning to release this new version by early June, since it contains several new features that will make the game immersive and fun.
Thank you for reading =D

#mostly pc games i think#recommendations are welcome!#gaming#like my gaming experience is limited to a few 2000s-pc games the nintendo dc (+dsi+3ds) and the ps2 and ps3#oh and the gameboy advence sp!#all of those consoles where my older sibling's first (8 year age gap) so i have never in my life bought a game console#i think i's like to play minecraft (yes really) (i played the ps3 version but i'd like to play the pc version)#and like uncharted and tomb raider#oh and jedi fallen order and survivor ofcourse#the only reason i'd buy a switch is to play animal crossing (ac new leaf is one of my favorite games) but like that's noit woth it#and like i think that small indie games are cute#i actually think that game development seems really fun (but also like those people do get not paid that well and they are often overworked#like i had to make a word search in java for a uni project and i thought that was really fun#kj post

java project: soul skull
I have to make a game in java for a school project and this is the main character in the game. My best friend is ordered to write the story and do some play testing stuff and I will draw and code the game bc I can do this the best.
I already began writing some code and I got the movement and attacking system working :D I have to admit that my attack code is very messy and buggy but BlueJ just does not offer me a good way to check if to objects collide
Anyway I will draw the next days all assets and will start expermenting with adding png files into the game
The mechanics for the game won't be very simple:
guns- you can soot in the direction you are running (one bullet every 4 seconds - a lot of damage)
spells - you can heal yourself and deal some massive damage
cards - you can choose some upgrades and powers so that you get unstoppable!
Souls- every time you kill an enemy you get 2 souls, every time an enemy deals you some damage you loose one soul, to cross doors you need to collect a various amount of souls to be allowed to pass

A lot of people say the game is good, but the camera gets me car sick.
Im kinda curious if anyone knows any good furry games out there
#Indie 3D games often have this problem cuz they can't afford quality control#and it's damn hard to know what causes problems with visually handicapped folks#like I can't tell you why java minecraft doesn't make me sick#but bedrock minecraft is eye poison#like they seem the same to me but here we are

Minecraft (2009)
Date: May 17, 2009 Platform: Mac / Xbox 360 / PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360 Games Store / PlayStation Network (PS3) / PC / iPhone / iPad / Android / Windows Phone / PlayStation Vita / Wii U / Browser / PlayStation Network (Vita) / Xbox One / PlayStation 4 / Linux / Amazon Fire TV / New Nintendo 3DS / Nintendo Switch / Xbox Series X|S Developer: Mojang AB / 4J Studios / Other Ocean Interactive / Digital Eclipse Software, Inc. Publisher: Mojang AB / Xbox Game Studios / Sony Interactive Entertainment America / Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe Genre: Action-Adventure Theme: Fantasy Franchises: Minecraft Also known as: Minecraft Xbox One Edition / Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition / Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition Type: Crossover
Summary:
Minecraft is an open world, first-person, survival sandbox game, developed and published by Mojang. It was originally released in a pre-alpha state via the TIGSource forums on May 17, 2009, and was later hosted online for supported browsers before receiving a standalone release for PC, Mac, and Linux on June 30, 2010. The game would officially exit its Beta version on November 18, 2011, although major updates continue to be released. Since August 2011, a number of ports of the game have released for consoles and mobile devices.
Presented with a unique low-resolution "voxel" aesthetic (where everything is shaped using cubes), the game allows players to interact with a variety of different "blocks" in a procedurally-generated world. Along with both resource mining/gathering and item crafting (hence the game name), the game features exploration (with multiple biomes and locations), combat, and construction. In addition to the standard "Survival" mode, the game features a "Creative" mode that allows players to design environments with an unlimited amount of blocks at their disposal and no survival elements. The game supports online multiplayer and later supported numerous content packs (including new world/block textures and player skins, many of which are cross-promotions with other games and franchises).
Originally created by indie developer Markus "Notch" Persson (whose roles were later taken over by fellow indie developer Jens "Jeb" Bergensten), Minecraft was ported to numerous smartphones (originally known as Minecraft: Pocket Edition) and consoles (originally known as Minecraft: Console Edition, with the "Console" in the name being replaced by the console's name). On September 20, 2017, the game received a major "Better Together" update that merges the smartphone version with some console versions (including Windows 10, Xbox One, and later Nintendo Switch) together for a single multi-platform version (known as Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, with the original computer versions renamed to Minecraft: Java Edition) with all features accessible (including cross-platform multiplayer). Alternate editions include a multi-platform version for use in classroom settings (Minecraft: Education Edition), a cut-down version for small RaspberryPi microcomputers (Minecraft: Pi Edition), and a multi-platform version for use in China (Minecraft China).
The game has received a number of spin-offs, including the 2015 adventure game Minecraft: Story Mode (and its 2017 sequel), the 2020 dungeon crawler Minecraft: Dungeons, and the augmented-reality mobile game Minecraft Earth. As well, Minecraft's procedurally-generated sandbox elements would inspire many other games, in both 2D (such as Terraria and Starbound) and 3D (such as Dragon Quest Builders and LEGO Worlds).

Oh, you're wondering what an advanced computer science college class does when the professor does not want to give a full lecture the day before spring break starts?
Well, he started the lecture by having us listen to the DanDaDan intro theme (full version, not just the intro bit)
Then he showed us BrainFuck (he teaches it in every class he teaches for a free fun day lesson)
And now he's speed running building a brainfuck compiler in Java on his own (we are timing him)
We chose forcing him to speedrun a compiler over discussing upcoming anime (a very common discussion topic in class, along side indie games and Taylor swift)
#college#computer science#dandadan#i 100% suggets you find a nerdy middle aged CS teacher to teach you CS because he will make life fun

I've been thinking long and hard about the BDS Microsoft Boycott call. The request focused on Microsoft Games, on the basis that, in theory, that's the easiest part of the Microsoft financial ecosystem for people to disconnect from in order to send a message. This includes pushing people (including parents) to uninstall and get their kids to stop playing Minecraft.
First off, the way the game industry is now, unfortunately, is that game developers or even full divisions of larger companies that underperform - or even just indy developers who self publish and underperform, just get shut down and everyone gets fired. Even if we boycott South of Midnight as part of the BDS movement and clearly communicate that message, what's more likely to happen is the company would be shut down, everyone would be fired, and a bunch of alt-right chuds would ignore the BDS boycott and call this a triumph of "Get Woke, Go Broke". They might even try to co-opt the movement as a half alliance of convenience, half desire to redirect the movement for antisemitic ends, with no actual interest in the plight of the Palestinian people.
There was an opportunity here to point people towards alternatives outside of either abandoning the software entirely, or alternative programs people who want to boycott can use to abandon something that they didn't think they could.
First, and this feels weird to say, Minecraft is something that doesn't have a lot of alternative replacements - it's a sandbox that allows children to indulge their imagination to create large scale ambitious projects that can't be replicated the same way as, for example, Lego, because they take no space in the real world, and thus you have no real world storage concerns, both in terms of space and in terms of risk of damage. The alternative to Minecraft isn't Palworld or Ark Survival Evolved. It's Roblox. And Roblox is also a bunch of dark patterns and sexual predators stacked on top of each other in a trenchcoat.

Now, on the other hand, Microsoft will happily charge you money to host a Minecraft server through them, and that puts money in the Azure division, the part that is directly aiding and abetting Israeli war crimes. But you don't have to go through Microsoft. You can run your own Minecraft server. Microsoft even tells you how to do it.
https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360058525452-How-to-Setup-a-Minecraft-Java-Edition-Server
So, cancel your Minecraft Worlds subscription, and roll your own server. You can even set it up so it stays in your network, so your kid's friends have to come over to use it (or so it stays in the family).
Next up - Microsoft pushes OneDrive hard as part of Windows 11. They also pushed it hard on Windows 10. They insist that it's the best and biggest way, and easiest way to backup your data. It's not. There are myriad alternatives, from Google Drive, to Dropbox, to the Apple iCloud (if you use iOS devices). And, OneDrive uses Azure Cloud services to host your data
So, disable OneDrive, and go somewhere else. I've listed several alternatives above, but if you're okay with the backup being on site, you can also build a NAS (Network Attached Storage) server to store files locally. This does have the disadvantage that if something damages your house, your kinda in trouble, though using something like Backblaze on the NAS can make up for that.
Then there's the whole Microsoft 365 suite. Azure is connected to the Microsoft Office part of the business, and they've been incorporating some of those services, like Copilot, into Microsoft 365. So, again, there are alternatives.
LibreOffice has been around for years, is free, and runs locally with no cloud hooks. You can replace Outlook with Thunderbird, or the BetterBird fork.
Finally, there are the hooks to Copilot, which also runs on Azure, which Microsoft runs in the operating system. Turn that shit off.
https://www.tomsguide.com/computing/software/how-disable-copilot-in-windows-11
Also, turn off the Bing websearch hooks as well, as those also connect to Azure.
https://www.howtogeek.com/826967/how-to-disable-bing-in-the-windows-11-start-menu/
Also, if you use DuckDuckGo, that links with Bing for part of their search results, so you may want to switch back to Google or find another search engine in the interim.

as someone who plays modded minecraft since 1.5 modpacks i’ve already played with the new update.
i’ve built with blocks that are almost pixel perfect to the new blocks.
i’ve raided dungeons way cooler than this one.
i’ve used autocrafting systems that are way more fun and challenging than this one.
and yes its going to be interesting and more minecraft-y but it’s just not enough.
i’m going to play with some friends for a few hours raid the new dungeon build with some of the new blocks and play with some of the new redstone features and then after 2 days max i’ll get bored and the only minecraft content i’ll consume will be hermitcraft, rekrap2, clownpierce until the friend or foe series is done, and some technical minecraft players like ilmango and cubicmetre. which is a pretty big group of people its like 8-10 different people but when i get more excited to see a new ethoslab video than the biggest minecraft event of the year and new updates i can’t ignore it anymore… minecraft have became a kids game and microsoft doesn’t care about the java player and especially the older ones who were there from the beginning. its not that neat indie game that got super popular anymore. its that huge game made by that huge company so kids will buy stuff. i seriously cannot see how bedrock is any different than roblox other than the official collabs with big IPs. they’re so similar even in the “not paying the devs who makes the marketplace stuff enough if anything” department. (like seriously side tangent but this needs to be regulated asap people getting pennies for months of hard work for both roblox and minecraft bedrock but because they’re not official employees its ok?? also all the dark paths that both companies and every other company uses to make people(especially children) buy stuff from them should be a crime!)

An early test of my 'goblin picrew' or 'build-a-goblin' system that I've been working on for 'Goblin Princesses in Space', my TTRPG/indie PC game project. My goal is to write a TTRPG where each player experiences the setting as an individual Princess, while the PC game, programmed in Java, allows one player to control a whole party's worth of the TTRPG characters to experience automated adventures with the computer being the GM.
This is an example of the 'talk sprites' that would appear in the digital version.
