You know what I absolutely adore about the Good Omens fandom... With a few minor exceptions, most of the major characters in the show are played by actors who are 40, 50 plus. Meaning most of the ships I've seen are the same. They're out there normalising older people in love in fandom with obsessive abandon! And I love it. Well done Good Omens fandom. Gold stars for everyone!

GOD'S INEFFABLE GAME

I've seen this headcanon/theory here and there and I love it, so I felt the need to lay it all out. Hold on tight, yall.

Everyone knows how perfect Aziraphale and Crowley are for each other. The Angel of the Eastern Gate and the Serpent of Eden, the sword and the snake - they've been drawn together since before the beginning.

The way that these two compliment each other seems almost perfect. They each have what the other one lacks; they challenge and make each other better. It seems a bit... ineffable.

But then, it happens again? (if it happens again, it'll seem like an institutional problem!) Seemingly against all odds, the Grand Duke of Hell and the Supreme Archangel fall in love. Beelzebub and Gabriel, probably the most unlikely pair, end up fitting together so perfectly that they become each other's heaven and hell.

And here's the part where I'm reaching a bit more since I'm leaving what we know to be canon, so take it or leave it. But have you seen the way that Dagon, Lord of the Files, looks at the Archangel Michael? Could it be that they're also ineffably connected? Honestly, I dare you to tell me that they don't seem... smitten.

Next up, we have precious Muriel, 37th Order Scrivener, and "Disposable Demon" Eric. Equally low-ranking but lovable entities whose personalities match so well? Sure, sure, they never even speak or meet (yet!?) so maybe I'm delusional, but I have a strong feeling that these two will end up together. Personally I think they'll be something like a QPR, but who knows. They're just such perfect mirrors of each other, and as we all know, things are always on purpose when it comes to our lord and savior Neil Gaiman.

Even though angels and demons are supposed to be "hereditary enemies", it seems like they all end up liking each other just a little too much to be a matter of chance. We know that there are 10 million angels and 10 million demons... what are the chances that that was an accident? A perfectly even split, by coincidence? Nah. We know that God plays an ineffable game with the universe, and it seems like She might have been in the mood for a romantic comedy. Creating ten million sets of perfectly matched beings, and then putting them on opposite sides, seems like just a thing that God would do for Her own amusement. She's probably sitting back and laughing to Herself, seeing how long it takes Her creations to find their way back to each other.

Is it wrong that I laughed when I saw the expression on prime Minister Carney’s face at the beginning? I’m usually terrible at reading facial expressions and social queues, but that’s a “kill me now” face if I ever saw one. Also, this entire meeting is a lesson on politics if you ask me. Obviously, PM Carney didn’t think that the false king of America would ever agree to stand down with his tariffs and had a different goal in mind.

No matter what Trump said, most likely trying to provoke the PM like he always does, he never yelled or called the dingus names. Instead he remained calm and quiet, mostly factchecking Trump when he told an obvious lie. In turn PM Carney looks like a competent leader and a mature adult next to the man-child over here. Perception is everything in politics and that’s something Trump doesn’t understand, considering the A.I picture of him as the Pope just days after Pope Francis’ funeral. I don’t have to tell you why that was stupid thing for him to do, besides how disgusting it was?

michael and dagon pick nina's coffee shop as their meeting place (it's accidental at first, they're both trying to keep an eye on muriel and crowley respectively and it's a big what the FUCK are you doing here???? but then they fall in love the end) anyway they're having dates with enough sexual tension to power the whole city.

nina notices. maggie is over every single day and also notices. they're like okay those bitches are not just gay they're definitely not human. but also they're gay and we need to help them fall in love. yes? yes. okay.

in the process of that however nina gets over her lindsay heartbreak and her and maggie get closer and closer and dagon and michael get closer and it turns into one big lesbian coffee shop romance.

meanwhile you get the occasional appearance of crowley and muriel in the background and the funniest part is that the lesbians are so preoccupied with each other they stop paying attention to anything else.

so the background story is just crowley being heartbroken but then aziraphale comes back, they fix their shit etc. but no one notices bc michael is staring at dagon's lips and dagon is trying to regain their higher brain functions and nina and maggie are making out in the back.

crowley and aziraphale are happy, stopped the apocalypse again, and nip by the café just to be like "michael??? dagon???? tf are you doing here???" and they're like. wait. what are YOU doing here? fuck what time is it????? ah doesnt matter i am captivated by my lesbianism.

and then they all live happily ever after the end

Literally all of those are correct. It is literally correct to call any of those characters lesbians. That’s the point, they’re all not human and don’t have gendered concepts and literally any labels work.

But the amount of fans I see being openly lesbophobic is SHOCKING and extremely disappointing. Sorry, all lesbians, hope this helps 🩶

when i write fanfic, i sometimes write quick little crack versions of certain scenes. just for the sillies. because i can, yk? here’s one i just finished. cause why not :)

Crowley leant forward, inky wings curtaining around the two of them. Warm breath on his face, the racing of a human heart. Fire falling from the sky, he kissed his angel, soft and sweet and desperate—love at the end of the world. Aziraphale twined his arm’s around the demon’s neck, hands carding through red hair. He sighed into Crowley’s open mouth, and a little shudder ran through his entire body.

A rather exaggerated groan came from beyond where they stood.

With more than a touch of irritation, Crowley broke away for a moment and shifted his wings back to peer at the angels around them.

It had been Michael. Of course it had been Michael. Uriel turned to look at their fellow archangel. Michael shrugged. “Well, I mean,” they began. “First Gabriel and Beelzebub. And now these two. It’s getting out of hand, honestly ”

“I have literally seen you making out with Dagon. On several occasions,” Uriel quipped. Michael’s face flushed a bright pink and they averted their gaze.

“I dont—I really—“

“Did you think you were being subtle??” Saraqael interjected. Their brow crinkled in incredulous confusion. “Everyone in the office knows.”

Michael was muttering something Crowley couldn’t quite hear. And then a ringing came from somewhere on their person. Blushing furiously, they pulled out a cellphone.

“Is that—” Uriel began.

“Shut up,” Michael snapped. They flicked open the phone and pressed it to their ear. “Babe, bad time. Can’t talk right now—No, I know. I know. I’ll defrost the chicken when I get home—No. I won’t. Babe, I won’t forget this time—It was one time—Okay, yeah. Love you too.”

The phone closed with a click, and then all was silent for a long while.

Gabriel and Beelzebub, both left heaven and hell behind, because they choose each other (as of season 2 that is). And I feel confident to say that's also the ending we will get for Aziraphale and Crowley: Choosing their own side.

But Dagon and Michael. My beloved angelfish pairing? Neither will turn their back on heaven or hell. These to bitches live for their work. Dagon as a big believer in the glorious revolution. Michael is the sword of God and ready to fuck shit up. Even after the second coming is adverted. Whatever arrangement Hell and Heaven figure out. Dagon and Michael will make it is followed.

Michael finally as Supreme Archangel. Dagon keeping Hell together as Lord of Files. No one will challenge their loyalty even if they are seeing each other. They mean fucking business. As long as it's "work time". Michael despises Hell. Dagon wants to bring down Heaven. Probably to a point where people start to wonder if they really are together at all. But if someone even dares to threaten their partner, neither Satan or God can save them.

And once it's free time and they are together. Alone. They leave all of that at the door. Maybe gossip about particular annoying co-workers (cough Sandalphon cough). But damn, when they are only with each other, that's all there is. Oh they love to fight and argue. But they also care for each other and make sure to take a break from work.
