Being someone who read Under The Red Hood and came out with the firm belief that, for Jason, it's not about killing Joker, it's about Jason wanting proof Batman would choose him over the Joker (bc shelia chose the joker). Makes seeing any other media where it's all about just wanting the Joker dead is a teeny bit frustrating. to be honest

Jason could've killed the Joker himself, really, really easily. Jason kidnaps the Joker before the confrontation. I can't open my comic for a reference right now, but it felt like he had the Joker for quite a bit before the confrontation. He had him. He beat him up with a crowbar. He had every single opportunity to kill the Joker himself, but he didn't because that wasn't his goal. Make no mistake, he did plan for the Joker to be dead by the end of it, but do you see what im trying to say here

It's not about making Batman kill either. When Batman says he won't kill, Jason adjusts and goes, 'Let ME kill the Joker or kill me to stop me' instead. The test is all about Batman choosing him. The whole final confrontation is Jason's first death again. The parent, The Joker, and the explosives. It even ends with Jason unable to move as a bomb goes off right next to him again because the parent didn't choose Jason. And instead tried finding an option that'd benefit them and (consequencely) letting the Joker walk, again, lol, lmao <-in agony

A little zine about how I (still) have trouble saying the word aromantic.

I've never made a zine before! I was inspired to try it because @queerliblib mentioned a zine making night in an email. That hasn't happened yet - its on June 26th - but once I had the idea, I couldn't wait, lol. It was nice to put something down on paper and have the finished product to hold onto.

Page 1: Three tiny speech bubbles say: "Do you have a bf? Do you like anyone? What's your type?" A big speech bubble says, "Oh, I don't date." The big speech bubble comes from a heart colored like the aromantic flag. 

Page 2 says: I could say: "Actually, I'm... ...aromantic." ...aro." ...aromantic asexual." ...aroace."

Page 3 says: But there are a few problems:

aromantic: Has been misheard as "A Romantic".

aro: Opaque if you don't already know the term.

aromantic asexual: A mouthful! And sounds...scientific?

aroace: shares The Big Problem: it may require a vocabulary lesson!

Page 4 says: It doesn't actually come up too often! Which is fine. My coworkers, my neighbors, and strangers don't need to know I'm aroace. I just wish I could say it sincerely when I do want someone to know. 

Page 5 says: I always have to smile - laugh - hedge. "Oh, well, actually, I'm kind of like, aromantic? Basically just not interested."

It's been more than 8 years since the first time I said it out loud!  I'm certain of it, but I still can't say it like I mean it!

Page 6 says: The most memorable time I said "I don't date" the guy I was talking to asked "Oh are you asexual?" and I said "Yeah, actually. And aromantic." And we moved on.

That was nice. 

Page 7 says:

The times I've lead with "I'm aromantic" -- well, there's only one I really remember:

"I didn't use to think that was a real thing." 

Other than that time -- even if I use the word, I always explain what it means first! 

Page 8 says: I just hope that one day I'll feel like I can say, simply, confidently: "I'm aromantic" and "I'm aroace."

The words "I'm aromantic" are big and dark green, the color of the top stripe of the aromantic flag. The words "I'm aroace" are big and bright orange, the color of the top stripe of the aroace flag. Three hearts below the words are colored to look like the aromantic, aroace, and asexual flags.

I don't think I really have any really solid headcanons and also canon keeps validating me left and right (FLUFFY DOMESTIC DIAFAM IS REAL). mostly just kind of...impressions and general thoughts, if that makes sense! lately though I've been kind of obsessed with thinking about Lilia's hair, and specifically when/why he ended up cutting it. (l-look, we're bouncing around the timeline and I gotta make decisions about these things when I draw, it's relevant) (I mean I would probably be weirdly fixated on this anyway, but.)

I think I've settled on the idea that he kept it long until he went to NRC, partly because 1) I like drawing The Ponytail, and 2) I think he thought of NRC as a chance to reinvent himself a bit! he gets to go and be a wacky carefree teenager for a few years and have fun! (officially he's there to keep an eye on Son #1, but how much trouble could he get into, really.) so he gave himself a Cool Teen Haircut to go with his fresh new Cool Teen Persona!

also maybe he had some reflection on his hair's troubled past with three kids...

...and had to weigh his vanity versus the fact that he was going off to be around hundreds of kids on a daily basis, and. the choice suddenly seemed obvious.

ig another annoying thing about the 'this transcends language 😲😱' comments about the most obvious of cognates and literal english loanwords, is that it's another example of how native english speakers (and, by virtue of their population size, mostly USamericans) are the arbiters of what gets seen as 'universal' vs what's weird and foreign on the anglophone internet. cause to me as a dutch speaker, a lot of german compound words would '''transcend language''' - but the tweets that go viral about those kinds of words are about how they're silly little nonsense words to laugh at, can't be a real language, can you believe anyone speaks that!

I have … random thoughts abt kid Xelqua seeing Grian as his papa…. collect my rambles boy..

First time kid Xelqua calls Grian ‘’papa’’ it’s probably bc Grian sneaks up and scares him. Xelqua shouts it in surprise when he sees it’s Grian.

Xelqua doesn’t realize it, instead he turns and runs back to Mumbo, telling him that Grians being mean.

Grian and Mumbo just stare at each other. Neither expected it to get this far. Mumbos pretty sure he can see Grians eyes dilate.

This isn’t the last time either, Xelquas says it again when excitedly showing Grian something, but quickly got embarrassed and tried to hide that he said it. (much like calling your teacher mum)

Xelqua doesn’t like when other Hermits tease him abt this, he doesn’t want to think abt it and he doesn’t want Grian to either. This doesn’t stop Xelqua from wanting to give Grian something on Father’s Day though.

There’s one day where Xelqua is particularly upset, he cries easier, he doesn’t want to play or finish his meals. Grian gets nothing done while trying to figure out what’s wrong.

Eventually, through teary eyes, Xelqua says he wants to stay on Hermitcraft, he doesn’t want to leave, he doesn’t want to go with the Watchers anymore—Grian doesn’t know where Xelqua got this idea, he asks Xelqua who told him that, and Xelqua says “You!” Grian also doesn’t know where this came from, something from s9 he must’ve said in frustration that Xelqua held onto.

All Grian can do is just hold him and tell him he doesn’t have to leave Hermitcraft, he can stay as long as he wants, the Watchers wouldn’t hate him for this, and that he doesn’t want Xelqua to leave either.

Xelqua calms down a bit hearing this confirmation, but still doesn’t move. Grian uses this moment to also tack on “.. And just so you know, you can call me whatever you want to.”

Xelqua still calls him "Grian", but he’s less likely to get embarrassed or hide over calling him Papa sometimes now.

Even the Saint version vaguely knows what’s going on, he doesn’t remember these things between forms, but if he were to talk abt Grian to other non hermits, he’d describe Grian as having a son.

One thing I like about Apollo in Hades 2 is that he is usually polite, especially respectful towards his elders, but if they provoke him he will get back at them. But in a subtle manner, and only after a few seconds will you realise that he was throwing shade.

I'm paraphrasing here but here are two examples:

Hera: you are just like Zeus (derogatory)

Apollo: did you just compare me to your husband ? How awfully kind of you :)

Poseidon: haha Apollo has finally decided to join the war because he couldn't withstand the pressure from his dear mortals anymore

Apollo: it's because I want to help you, uncle! since I know that you guys cannot handle this situation on your own :)

My relatable queen... I love Francis so much (and her complex relationship with her father, if that wasn't made clear from the art I commissioned from the wonderful & talented lacediap).

While we don't know Francis' canonical birthday, I believe she was born on May 13, 1853 - yet another significant Friday the 13th in the Phantomhives' lives, a pattern that seems to have begun with Vincent's birth on Friday June 13, 1851... Or did it?

If you assume a gestational period of exactly nine months, Vincent would have also been conceived on a Friday the 13th - September 13, 1850. And I crunched the numbers, pulled out the old Victorian calendar - and if Francis was born on Friday May 13, 1853, she would have been conceived on Friday August 13, 1852.

Evidently Undertaker and Grandma P really liked getting freaky on Friday the 13ths 😏

Another odd coincidence are the ages at which Claudia and Cedric died - Claudia died at the age of 36, in 1866, and I believe Cedric (Undertaker) was born on March 25th, 1331 (a significant date in a year which has the number '13' forwards and backwards) and that he died on January 28, 1366 (corresponding with his reaper serial number, 136649). This would mean he killed himself when he was 34 - the same age his son Vincent would be when murdered in 1885.

Meanwhile Claudia is confirmed to have died at the age of 36, on Friday July 13, 1866. And if Francis was born on May 13 1853, that means that in the current setting of the manga, December 1889, she is 36 years old...

Happy Birthday Girl 🥲 although this idea that Cedric/Undertaker 'cursed' the family with his involvement might be kind of nuts... After all...
