The day she had been dreading had finally come; working on a project assigned to her by the La Primera and alongside someone deemed fit by her standards. Reason would tell her that it should be fine; La Primera must have believed in her skills and studies enough to give it to her. But she feared that the pressure would start getting to her. Long story short, she was nervous and the way her stomach began to twist the moment she stepped into the building didn't make it any easier.

She looked towards Rei, quickly registering what he had asked before nodding.

"Yeah. That'd be me." She'd hold out a hand to him, flashing a grin but not quite looking him in the eyes.

"It's uh- Nice to meet you too. My name is Michiko."

It was pretty rare when Rei got good news from La Primera. Normally, he was pretty hesitant to take on the assignments that she gave him, but for this, he was actually excited. Heading to the academy, he doubles and triple checks the notes that he has along with contacts for help in case they need it for excavation as he notices someone fitting the description enter the building.

"G-good afternoon, a-are you the archeologist that Geeta said was coming? I-it's good to meet you. I'm Rei, the historian working for the league."

After sending the information of where they were going to Rei, she hands the phone back to Yamane, smiling at her. "All right, let's get going. We can't let her think that we stood her up like a cheap date or something," she says as she starts to leave the room, opening the door for Yamane.

She examines the others expression before sighing in relief. “Okay! Don’t worry! She is super cool and sweet despite working with poisons..” She beams as she gets out her phone. The other was certainly correct..Yamsne was unfortunately a magnet for bad people and this friend of hers..was no exception.

“Yeah good idea!” She nods and hands the other her phone. This was for the best as..it might be somewhat worth it. For the other at least.

It was quite odd to be simular to someone genuinely..but it was also pretty exciting. She could understand as her sweet personality captured people easily leading to her downfall. It’s exciting..

Was asking Rei out for pumpkin spice lattes a very casual date idea? Yes. Was that really the only reason that Shirou invited her out here? Hell no, far from it. While he was quite selective of his victims, having a partner for his shows was quite the change for him, and he thought it better to ask Rei for what she wanted with this.

"Hm... what do you think about that one... she would be rather interesting, don't you think?" He asks as he focuses more on Rei than the woman he's referring to. Even if he wanted to capture and lure this woman away for the sake of harming her, he thought it rude to focus on another woman while out on a date still.

Acolyte is going to age well, I'm telling you.

It's more true to Star Wars than the Sequels, because it's about the things that Star Wars has always been known for:

FAMILY – and the forces (both light and dark) that try to pull it apart.

In the Prequels, Anakin is constantly trying to protect his family: his mother, Padmé, Obi-Wan, the Chancellor. And it's his intense love toward his family that allows him to be manipulated into darkness, which ultimately tears his family apart.

In the Original Trilogy, the Skywalker family has been torn apart by darkness. But the ties of family between Vader, Luke, and Leia are strong, and it's family that saves Vader in the end.

And in Acolyte, we see a family torn apart by the Jedi, and two sisters constantly reaching for each other across space and time, but forces of darkness and justice get in the way.

In the Sequels there's this found family vibe, which in general is great, but in the movies you never get this sense that Rey holds any important family connection with anyone.

CORRUPTION – in others, the people you love, and in the institutions you trust.

In the Prequels, we see the corruption in the Senate, the corruption in the Jedi Order, and Anakin's corruption from light into dark.

In the Original Trilogy, we see the corruption of the Empire, but we also see the seeds of corruption from the old Jedi Order, with Yoda and Obi-Wan constantly telling Luke that he must kill his own father. We see Vader's corruption, and we see Luke unravel it.

In Acolyte, we see Mae corrupted by the dark side, we see Osha corrupted by her own feelings, and we see the Jedi corrupted by their own belief that they are the saviors of the galaxy, that they did the right thing.

In the Sequels, we see Luke, a Jedi, almost killing his nephew– this is absolutely corruption within the Jedi, but this is unbelievably out of character for Luke, who forgave his father, a mass murderer. We also see Ben Solo, but we never see him being corrupted by the dark side. We just see he's pretty much already there.

REDEMPTION – for those who seek it, and those who defy it.

In the Prequels, we are shown the path that takes Anakin into darkness.

And in the Original Trilogy, we are shown a man who defies his own redemption because he believes he does not deserve it, and that it's far too late– and yet he finds redemption anyway.

In Acolyte, almost every Jedi we're introduced to seeks redemption because of the terrible thing they've done, because of the secret they keep. I wouldn't say any of them are actually redeemed, but seeking redemption is an important part of this story for the Jedi characters.

In the Sequels… Yeah Ben Solo is redeemed but redemption isn't exactly a "theme" of the movies.

LOVE – complete, unconditional love, beyond reason.

In the Prequels, Anakin and Padmé share a love like this. Anakin doesn't deny killing younglings, and Padmé (while deeply upset and disturbed) does not stop loving him for what he's done.

In the Original Trilogy, Luke has never known his father, he doesn't have memories of a man who was once kind an honorable and good. All he knows is Darth Vader. And yet, he is willing to forgive his father because he loves him.

In Acolyte, Mae and Osha have both betrayed each other, have both done unspeakable things in each other's eyes, and yet their love for each other never falters. It remains, strong and forgiving, always.

In the Sequels… Is love a main "theme" of the Sequels? Yeah, Leia and Han love their son, but they've kind of given up on him and their marriage, Kylo Ren and Rey do not know each other well enough at all to be in love, and Luke apparently gave up on that unconditional love he got from his mother which allowed him to forgive his father. IDK love isn't a huge part of the Sequels.

POLITICS – I just need to point it out, almost every Star Wars movie or TV series that's actually good includes a lot of politics that's clearly explained and makes a lot of sense.

In the Prequels, we are introduced to the politics of the Galactic Republic, as well as the politics of the Jedi Order.

In The Clone Wars, there are whole story arcs based on politics (that whole arc about deregulating the banks?).

In the Original Trilogy, we hear about the Emperor's political maneuvers and how he's disbanded the Senate. We also come to understand the the Empire rules through fear, military might, and destruction of their opposition.

In Acolyte, we see Jedi politics play out, and we hear about how there are a few senators who do not trust the Jedi and the power they have.

What politics are we given in the Sequels? First Order, bad. Rebels good. And also repeat of the Original Trilogy. Oh, the New Order rules with military might and fear, and they have a Death Star thing. Okay? We've seen all this before.

the static electricity sparked between them from the mere idea of kissing was enthralling, constructing a forcefield that secluded the two of them where not a single soul or object seemed to exist outside of this plane. the feelings he had concealed for nearing a decade resurfacing, finding room to breathe again in the fresh air of their openness to each other. it was liberating to give voice to them in the glances shared. discretion out of the window along with the guilt. isaac's beating heart went pitter-patter like a hummingbird as their irises met, and his heart opened up to give stevie entrance. it was like they found a loophole escape from the labyrinth they'd been trapped in for the past eternity. his gaze mirrored her movements, dropping to her lips that looked all too kissable from where he was standing. he hardly comprehended his surroundings, every sensory nerve aflame and only in tune with the connection between him and the beautiful girl before him. his bandmate, stunt girlfriend, best friend. words faded into the distance, his oxygen lapsing as he felt her fingers curl around his wrist, pulse skyrocketing as fractions of space disappeared, being pulled close to her. "...i want you." it was all he wanted to say. all he had been yearning to say for the entire duration of their friendship. denial left the room as isaac cupped her chin, his thumb stroking over her cheek in a gentle caress before lifting her head up towards his. he bent down, meeting her height, as his lips found hers, the wisp of a kiss with the soft brushing of their mouths like paint on canvas bloomed into a true, deep kiss.

stevie watched isaac react to her question silently, taking in his every move. the way his body stilled, the look in his eye when she mentioned kissing. stevie knew it wasn’t all in her head — that he had to feel the tension between them, too. ever since the day they made out in isaac’s dressing room, stevie hadn’t been able to stop thinking about the look in his eye. she could only imagine the way she looked at him. stevie was never good at hiding the emotions on her face, and right this second, the only thing she felt was pure want. she thought back to all their moments together as teenagers — all the late nights on stevie’s roof, their protective nature over one another, every jab and insult bringing them closer. everything was leading up to this. right here and now, stevie could finally have the one thing she denied herself for years. “it’s not for practice.” she nodded, taking a step closer. “it’s also not for a crowd, or to keep up appearances.” teeth sinking into her bottom lip, dark eyes shifting to isaac’s mouth and back up again. “if it feels weird or wrong, we never have to talk about it again. but if it’s good…” with another step, stevie wrapped a hand around isaac’s wrist, pulling him closer. “everything changes if it’s good — and i think it’s going to be really good, is.”
