to me the key part of the betrayal is: you have to have a GIANT ego to act as pathetic as peter does.

it’s that orson welles quote: “He is arrogant. Like all people with timid personalities, his arrogance is unlimited. Anybody who speaks quietly and shrivels up in company is unbelievably ­arrogant. He acts shy, but he’s not. He’s scared. He hates himself, and he loves himself, a very tense situation.”

i think he genuinely sees himself as above the other marauders, as cleverer, despite all evidence to the contrary. it’s because his private internal world (where he keeps his ugliness, his roiling jealousy, his manipulative tendencies) is so well-hidden and untainted that it feels sacred to him.

yes they look down on him, and he lets them, but they’ve never glimpsed the REAL peter. they don’t know what he’s capable of <- this mentality is how he copes with his existence.

normally i would say that this is a delusion of grandeur developed to cope with the material reality of being inadequate… except peter actually DID get the last fucking laugh! i think this arrogance is central to his character & is the reason he would authentically get along with the death eaters better.

obsessed with the trope of when two characters are in a relationship that’s always being haunted by a secret third character. when they both only entered the relationship because of how the third character fundamentally changed them both in ways that they will never recover from and they just need someone else who understands this new version of themselves that no one else will ever comprehend. and i am especially obsessed with when the third character is dead and gone and the only reason the remaining two are together is to seek solace in each other. because they’re the only ones who care enough to take the time to commemorate and remember the third. a relationship built on pure grief and loneliness and mutual understanding with the only love for each other being for when they can see traces of the third person in each other. when they’ve both made each other the third character’s mausoleums and take turns viewing each other like an incomplete tapestry of every bit of personhood that they were able to save and preserve of the third character instead of people in their own right. and. yes. the themes you get it

Narcissa had been pleasantly surprised by the variety of stalls at the festival, and the event as a whole. Of course, she could do without the glowing body paint that so many people seemed so fond of, but overall it was a rather nice event. Narcissa wasn't quite sure what she was looking for but she needed to kill time while Lucius was busy socializing with some acquaintances. He had said that she. could come, but she would much rather do some shopping.

One of the stalls with jewelry caught her eye, and while she was rather picky when it came to her jewelry she was hopeful that perhaps there would be something intriguing. Reaching down to pick up a particular necklace, she caught a hint of familiar orange hair coming towards her. Glancing up she spotted Alecto Carrow. "Hello,' she greeted. "You are very orange today, aren't you? The dress is pretty."

so sad we never got very much uncle maximus and absolutely depressed over the complete lack of interaction from gorgon karnak and triton with ahura and luna. has triton ever even talked to either of them. cant even slightly fathom the idea that triton was not a major role in their lives.
