A Basic Overview of Elemental Spirits

There are many types of elemental spirits in the realm of mythology and witchcraft. The most important thing to know about these spirits is that each species has a different set of rules and a different moral code. I know working with them may sound cool and fun, but to safely do so, you would need to learn each species' codes of conduct to be both respectful and safe. 

The term spirit is used as an umbrella term in this situation. It could be used to describe ghosts, demons, faeries, nymphs, etc. Anything that embodies the “spirit” of one of the elements: Air, Earth, Water, and Fire. 

We will start with Water Spirits. 

This category would include: 

Merpeople

Sirens

Selkies

Kelpies

Grindylows

Naiads

Camenae

Gwragedd Annwn

Water spirits are mostly known to be tricksters and pulling pranks on humans who interrupt their ways of life. Many of these species have tragic tales of how they came to be. Selkies are shapeshifting seal women that lounge around the coasts of Scotland and Wales. If a man were to steal their fur coat, they would be doomed to a life of land until their coat is given back. Mermaids are typically women that were found to be stowaways on pirate ships. Their legs were tied and they were thrown overboard in hopes of drowning. Many water spirits are deemed “vengeful” towards men (for good reason), which is why the element of water tends to be a Feminine element. 

Our next element will be Air.

This category will include: 

Sylphs

Pixies

Harpies 

There is not a lot of information about strictly “air” elementals. Just because a creature can fly, does not make it an air elemental. For example, Dragons would be considered a fire elemental even though they can fly. Air elementals don't avoid or seek out humans, however they can be tricksters when need be. 

Next is Earth. This will include:

Brownies

Dwarves

Bogles

Dryads

Unicorns

These creatures, while not actively seeking out humans, may help humans in times of need. Please do not take their hospitality for granted and DEFINITELY read up on their customs before attempting to work with them. 

Last would be Fire. This would include:

Dragons

Phoenix

Salamanders 

Angels 

Fire giants

These creatures actively seek solitude. They most likely will not interact with humans, even if called upon, which is why Angel work and Dragon work is so hard to get into.

This is by no means a complete list of elementals, they are just the most common ones of each category. Please let me know if you would like me to do a more indepth post on a specific species.

Size: 5 - 7 inches tall(mini), 1'6 - 2'6 feet tall(fullsize)

Personality: Sweet, kind, energetic, active,

Likes: cottagecore themed things,

Dislikes: extremely hot weather, crafts,

Compatibility: They thrive in cool, comfortable environments, where they can enjoy nature without feeling overheated or drained.

Their bones are softer and more fragile than your average skeleton bitty, though they arent as fragile as say a geno or dusttale papyrus bitty, they are still pretty delicate and need to be watched more carefully due to their energy levels!

They thrive in cooler environments! Especially if its cold enough to snow a lot, despite their aesthetics, though they love making their own felt flowers!!

They have a love for 'gloomy' weather like rain, snow, and fog, and they love water in general!

Feeding habits: They have a love for bitter tasting foods and anything with juniper berries of course!

Additional info: Due to their lack of popularity they arent often returned! Though rescues arent hard to find either- sadly

Zone: Inside

In Universe: They aren't a very popular bitties due to how fragile they are and how all over the place they can be,

Difficulty: Intermediate

Main Features: Their bones have a soft glow, especially around the joints! the main colors are blues and your average bone colors,

Main Clothing: Often warmer clothes and oversized clothes, as well as 'cutesy' clothes like stockings with shorts and an oversized crop-top sweater,

“if” future tense or hypothetical

~겠다면 is a combination of ~겠~ and ~다면, ~겠~ being the conditional meaning intention or assumption, and 다면 which expresses a hypothetical.

~다면 differs from ~으면 in that it emphasises the unlikeliness of the hypothetical.

ex. 한국 여행을 하겠다면 나도 한국 여행을 할 거야. If you are going to travel to Korea, I’ll go too.

Finished Reloryth! I think I need to just get Tumblr on my iPad for posting bc the colors are way off and the noise is strong, but I'm really happy with how he came out (took 7 hours). No speed paint this time bc I when I was showing the sketch to my family, it flipped upside down, so I went and flipped the canvas right side up in app. So half of the video is "upside down" (supposed to be right side up) and the other half I'm drawing "right side up" (technically upside down), and it's confusing so, yeah.

Variant: No Variant

Age: Adult

Size: 8 Inches (Average Mini)

Personality: Kind, Loud, Conceited, Arrogant

Compatibility: Moriko, while just as kind as the rest of her species, is far more self-absorbed, even being a little annoying at times because of it. Looking out for herself primarily is what helped her survive, even though it drives others away— so she’s going to need an owner that can help her feel safe before she can start to unpack that way of thinking.

She prefers being an only bitty, as she loves the attention, but is willing to have at most one other bitty to talk to if you’re busy, preferably one that’s very willing to give her the affection she so craves.

Even if she’s self-absorbed, she isn’t inherently selfish. She’s willing to help anyone who needs it— even if it’s just to make her feel like a good person. Because of her life on the streets, she knows basic medical aid, and she’s willing to use it if necessary! As long as she gets praise from it, of course.

Feeding habits: She’s only willing to eat strawberries and strawberry-flavored things, no matter what they are. As long as there’s strawberries in whatever food you give her, she’ll probably eat it.

Additional info: Moriko has an interest in mead making! If you have the resources to indulge this hobby, it’s highly recommended that you do!

Injuries: Several healed scars on her bones, slightly marnourished.

Special requirements: Moriko needs a lot of attention, either from you or another bitty, or she’ll get depressed and lonely.

Warnings: N/A

Reasons for rescue: Found as a stray, living alone under someone’s porch. She seems to have been living fairly comfortably for her situation, but she was still underfed and weak.

Difficulty: Basic-Intermediate

Color/Pattern: Pink-ish bones, Fully glowing yellow eyes, Red spotting on limbs.
