This piece was a NIGHTMARE and as much as I love the concept and these two's dynamic, I ended up losing a lot of steam after the second time of it getting somehow deleted from my files. So here's the third iteration of this drawing! I think it turned out so cute, and I love these two's little dynamic they have LMAO

So, the history of this piece is, I started it back in August of last year, and got it nearly completely lined before it was mysteriously deleted from my recovery page.

Once I tried to redraw it, and it was still fresh in my memory, the same thing actually happened, losing me a couple days worth of work TWICE. It was an absolute nightmare, so obviously I took a little break from it.

It took me switching programs and using multiple save files to get this piece finished, and I'm honestly a bit convinced it's cursed for whatever reason, because even then my computer almost crashed the moment I finished the line art and hid the sketch layer?? LMAO The ghosts in my computer hate Secret of the Cursed Mask art for whatever reason.

But I finally did it! ⸜(*ˊᗜˋ*)⸝ I can finally cross this off my list, which is such a massive relief- Even better because I do like how it came out, even if it's not perfect! The anatomy's a bit scuffed in some parts, but I don't think it's too terribly noticeable, so it's fine by me LMAO It's simple, but it's silly and cute! ( ´ ꒳ ` ) I'm very fond of them.

I think that if they met in some crossover scenario where Kouko's in the Cursed Mask, Michiru and Kouko would get along super well! Here's some silly moments with them, including their first meeting, because I think it's funny-

I'd go into more detail and write out more like I usually do, but I'll be so real right now, I'm absolutely tuckered out from finishing this up last night, and don't have the energy to write all my thoughts out, so I'll save that ramble for when I draw these two again, or for any questions I get about these two!

I might edit this post to have more info on them once I'm a bit more awake! But we'll see!

Feelin' the depresso expresso, so I drew some younger Irene in the various school uniforms, as well as what she actually wore in her school. Her hair was longer when she was younger and often wore it in a messy bun to keep the worst of it from tickling her neck.

Janis' was my favorite on Irene during the outlining process... but I'm kinda feeling like Kagome's looks good on her now that it's colored, lol.

I never cared for Kagome and Sesshomaru. Just not my cup of tea. I get the appeal in a way, but it's rough... Ruff.

Now, Kaname and Sesshomaru could be cute. Maybe in a, she loves him from afar way. 'Born too late for you to notice me' type.

God I love that videogame. Something something Cursed Mask. Kaname was my girl! No Kaname or Michiru hate on my watch. No shame in having a crush on your friend's partner (Sango and InuYasha), it happens. They're 15.

Inuyasha: The Secret of the Cursed Mask is based on an anime series of the same name. You can play either as a teenaged boy or a teenaged girl, named by the player. The two scenarios are very similar and basically follow the same story: you live in modern-day Tokyo and one day discover a strange symbol in an old storehouse. As a result, you are transported to medieval Japan. You encounter the half-demon Inuyasha, who introduces you to Kagome Higurashi, the heroine of the anime series. Together you embark on a journey to retrieve scattered pieces of the Sacred Jewel and to find a way to get back home.

Notes:

The game is based on the Inuyasha anime, and features fully animated and voice-acted cutscenes. It is recommended to have experienced the manga or anime before playing this game, although certain things do get explained due to the player character being new to the time period.

The female player character, default named Kururugi Kaname, is a girl from modern Tokyo that attends a different school to the character Kagome, but lives nearby.

The game features a relationship mechanic where Kaname can spend time with any of the characters and grow closer to them. Spending time with Inuyasha or Miroku will result in them and Kaname getting crushes on eachother, and will also lead to Kagome and Sango, their canon respective love interests, becoming jealous.

In addition to Inuyasha and Miroku, Inuyasha's brother Sesshomaru is a romance option. His romance is more of a challenge to do, as he spends less time with the protagonist and must be sought out.

Despite these romantic undertones being present, the game remains canon compliant. Regardless of who she chooses to pursue, Kaname will return to her world at the end of the game, breaking off whatever romance could have developed. Inuyasha and Miroku assumedly return their focus to Kagome and Sango, while Sesshomaru is implied to be still carrying a torch for Kaname.

There is a lot of reactivity to a female player, and story beats and character interactions will play out differently than if she were her male counterpart.

A fun little attempt at a fake Kouko 3D model for The Secret of the Cursed Mask LMAO It was definitely a struggle, but I overall like it!

Super long description I wrote out right before I fell asleep below the cut, so fair warning, it may be nonsensical! ( = ⩊ = )

This was such a doozy of a project, and I somehow managed to get it done in less than a day! What an absolute beast. I wasn't liking how my original daily doodle was turning out, so I figured why not try something different and come back to it with a fresh eye! (๑˘︶˘๑)

And of course I had to go do something twice as complicated and nothing near the realm of what I usually do. (x_x)⌒☆ I can't help myself.

After starting to watch TheAzureGuardian's playthrough of it, I had the thought of making Kouko a fake model for the game Inuyasha: The Secret of the Cursed Mask a while back, but for obvious reasons it was a bit daunting! I don't do 3D work, so that just meant It'd have to sit and entirely render it by hand.

However, with a lot of staring at the overworld models and help from the lovely website 'The Model's Resourse' to get proper PNGs of them, this is what I came out with! It's by no means perfect, but I think I captured her in a 3D style pretty okay for a first try! I'd love to go back and redraw this in the future once my art improves more and I've done more studies, but for now, I'm pretty happy with it! (*¯︶¯*)

I'd say the clothes were the most difficult part. I'm really fond of the older style of models that are used in games like this, but it's really hard to properly capture the textures and depth you want when trying to emulate it in a 2D style! It was a super fun challenge, but I think next time I could try mimicking the textures with different pieces of clothing before working on the main drawing for it, that way I can more accurately apply it!

I'm one of those people who see a piece of media and immediately wonder what it'd be like if my OC were a canon part of it, and though I haven't at all finished the playthrough I'm watching, it's still fun to ponder along the way! I've heard of the routes and endings, and it just ended up leading to this LMAO Kouko's story isn't actually at all related to TSotCM, it's entirely based in the manga/anime, but I thought it'd be a fun little challenge to draw her like this!

I just started the game and granted I've watched some playthroughs but I'm still just so delighted that this got fully dubbed omfg

lowkey moneca stori is SO GOOD at cold line reads holy shit lmao like. with most of these guys you can just. Really Tell that they were given pages of only their own lines and told "go for it" 💀 but she's hitting context inflections really consistently so far.
