Do you think Dan Povenmire realized that by giving Ferb leap-day as his birthday, he canonized the boys' ages?

Like leap-days only show up every 4 years, so by making Ferb's canonical date of birth a leap day, he basically restricted Ferb's birth year to one realistic option.

Leap year of 1996 to be specific, making Ferb canonically 11 in the original 4 seasons of Phineas and Ferb (if you consider the summer to be set in 2007).

With Phineas being 10, up until he's birthday episode, which is tragically a clip show instead of an actual episode. After which, he's also 11.

Along with the rest of their little friends being 10–11 years old.

While it could technically also possibly be the leap day of 2000, but that would put Ferb at only 7, and Phineas at 6 until his birthday episode.

That would put them at barely older than Suzy Johnson. Who they very much view as a much younger kid than themselves.

Not to mention, the boys (and their age mates) being 10–11 years old makes more sense when paired with Candace being 14–15 years old, vs them being 6-7 paired with Candace being 14–15 years old.

Because when we see the flashback of Ferb (and Lawrence) moving in, Candace seems to be the age the boys are in the original 4 seasons, while the boys are around Suzy's age.

So a 5-ish age gap between the boys and Suzy, and then another not quite 5 year age gap between the boys and Candace, makes sense to me.

Also, I know the boys being 10-11 to Candace's 14-15 makes it a 4-year age gap, but it still makes more sense than the boys and their friends all being 6-7 year olds.

I mean, they're twice the height of every 5-year-old character that is introduced in the show.

So it'd be crazy if the whole friendship was twice as tall as them even if they're only a year or two older than them, vs, them just literally being double the 5-year-olds' ages.

watching the internet burn down in real-time feels kind of insane to my chronically online mind. i spent my formative years on this site. it influenced me a lot for better or worse and i'm glad i was able to grow and experience more than this but it also sucks that the internet just really isn't the same separate world of escapism and media it used to be it's just another place for us to be sold things now and another thing to distract us and take up our time.

This is a redraw of an old fanart I drew in 2012. I had actually almost given up drawing at that point. It’s one of the few artworks created between 2010 and 2020. I didn’t really start drawing again until summer 2020, so the time jump between 2012 and 2025 seems a bit bigger than it actually is.

Making a redraw of one of my old works was actually a art goal I set for myself for 2025. Let’s see if I can manage one this year.

"Spice Up Your Life" is a song by British girl group the Spice Girls, released as the lead single from their second studio album, Spiceworld (1997). The song was co-written by the Spice Girls with Matt Rowe and Richard Stannard, at the same time as the group was shooting scenes for their 1997 film Spice World. The music video, directed by Marcus Nispel, features the Spice Girls in a futuristic setting, inspired by the 1982 film Blade Runner, controlling every aspect of society in a dark post-apocalyptic cityscape. The video won the award for Best Video at the 1998 Edison Music Awards, and was nominated for British Video of the Year at the 1998 Brit Awards, and for Best Special Effects at the 1997 Music Video Production Association (MVPA) Awards. A Reminder of the Passage of Time: 2025

Danny Phantom released in 2004. He was 14 then, he will be 35 this year.

Gravity falls released in 2012. The twins will be 26 at summer's end.

Steven Universe released in 2013. Steven will turn 26 this year, Connie should be around 24 right now.

Ben 10 released in 2005. Ben and Gwen should be 30 this year.

Transformers: Prime? 2010. Jack is now 32, Miko is 30, and Raf is 27.

Batman Beyond is set in 2039, meaning that Terry is currently 2 years old. On that note, Batman retired in 2019.

Teen Titans premiered in 2003. Beast Boy is 36, Robin and Raven are 38, Cyborg is 40, and Starfire is, and I quote, hundreds of years old.

Rugrats' first episode came out in 1991. Assuming they were all born on the same year, the babies are now 34 or will be by the end of the year.

A Separate Peace

a coming-of-age novel set at an all-boys new england boarding school. follows two boys, Gene and Finny, and their experiences during the summer and winter sessions of 1942. talks a bit about WWII and what role the boys may have to play in that, but it stays pretty focused on the school and the emotions involved during this time in one's life. all the growth and transformation and oddly homoerotic, perhaps very codependent, friendship of a bildungsroman that we love to look for.

one of my personal favorite books, even considering that it was assigned reading. i truly believe many of you would like it and i know for a fact some of you can vouch for me

JUST HEAR ME OUT ON THIS ONE okay. it's about a trio of siblings, orphaned, who are shuttled from one parental unit to another while being followed by a man after their immense wealth. they quickly discover they are in the midst of an intellectual conflict in a secret organization. they must rely on only each other, seeing as all the adults around them are wildly incompetent and/or unhelpful. and it is filled to the brim with literary references!!

both versions have really fun and witty narration, and the tv adaptation is extremely faithful. i don't know how else to describe it without going overboard so i'll settle for not descriptive enough! just trust me. yes it is a kids' series and yes it is one of my favorites ever. it's the vibes of it all

i finished this in about two nights and it was extremely creatively inspiring. it was a bit predictable, but that's not a bad thing. it still had me clutching my pearls and dropping my jaw

House M.D. (2004-2012) - tv series about genius diagnostician Dr. Gregory House and his team at a hospital in new jersey. Robert Sean Leonard stars as House's best friend and head of oncology Dr. James Wilson. very comedic but also very heartwrenching.

Tape (2001) - three friends meet at a motel room and dredge up and argue over unpleasant events of the past. starring Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard.

Before Sunrise (1995) - from letterboxd: "A young man and woman meet on a train in Europe, and wind up spending one evening together in Vienna. Unfortunately, both know that this will probably be their only night together." Ethan Hawke plays one half of the lead duo.

and yeah there's a LOT more but those are the ones i've seen and sincerely recommend. not to say others aren't good but this is a (very) curated list you see.

No clue why I can't stop thinking about this, but when I was a little baby dyke being raised by a small herd of queers and criminals on Feather River, there was this little cafe that had been a pillar of the local queer community for a while

The cafe was called Butch N Nellie's and it was this cute lil place with game boards for tables and giant cups of hot chocolate and a bookshelf full of the queerest titles you can imagine.

It closed in 2012, a year before my mother's marriage to her wife was recognized by the federal government. The first time my mother introduced her wife to me was over drinks and pastries and a game of checkers at Butch N Nellie's, and when they got married a few years later we went again. CA legalized it and we along with many others we knew rushed down on the first chance to ensure certificates were filed before the policy was overturned. My mom and her wife weren't the first couple to marry that day, but we were among hundreds of first day weddings that determined JOPs officiated as quickly as they could while still offering space for the tears of joy and grief every one of us cried together as a community that day. The policy was overturned 4 months, two weeks, and 6 days later, and my mother's marriage was not recognized anywhere we lived due to lack of reciprocity policies until the Supreme Court affirmed same sex marriage in 2013 when suddenly her marriage became legal again for the first time in five years. Critically, this affirmation of our family came the year after I went away to college after near on a decade of explicitly homophobic denials of our rights to each other as parents co-raising a child.

I still have photos of my mother, her new wife, my aunt faith, and my aunt lynn who both made the 10hr round trip drives to act as witnesses for their best friends' wedding, all crowded in with dozens of other families at Butch N Nellie's that summer day in 2008, as we all celebrated together something none of us thought would last more than a week. And now the café has been dead and gone longer than my mother's marriage certificate has been considered legally valid by about two years.

I don't have a point here. I only mean to convey the sense of profound grief that can come from hearing my mother quietly share with me recently that she and her wife have had their old legal documents redrafted from when CA overturned the Proposition because after 12 years she thinks the day may finally have come when they'll need it again. Hearing what is left unsaid. That after over a decade she had started to believe maybe this time it couldn't be taken from her.

My mother was "married" before, but she refused to wear a ring, to say it in public, to allow any visible evidence of it to exist where anyone could point to it and say it was real. I asked her once why she saved up for three years to buy her and her first wife a beautiful matched set of wedding bands if she was going to keep hers locked up in the fire safe for all but the handful of minutes a week that she would sit with me and her first wife and snuggle in bed. She never answered me, and now sometimes I think about the way that my wife and I wear our rings on necklaces instead of on our fingers, like hiding the evidence of our love will protect us from having it judged and interrogated.

Oddly, the grief feels more like longing than like rage. I expected to be angry, and don't get me wrong sometimes I am. But every time I think about Butch N Nellie's, I just remember how loudly we joyful degenerates celebrated our victory knowing with every bone in our body that it wasn't going to stay. Knowing with our hearts and souls that we could wake up tomorrow and it would have been snatched back out from under us. But my god were we going to revel in it for as long as we had it. Our utopia was never meant to be real, to be lasting, only to BE long enough for every single one of us to hold each other and promise that we would all keep loving and living no matter what came next.

In 2008, as the presidential campaign was gearing up, I carefully set aside the money I earned watching neighborhood kids and working as a hand at a local stables, and every time a canvasser came by for Clinton or Obama, I handed them my precious little bundle of pocket change and asked them to communicate to their leadership that I wanted my mothers' marriage to become and stay legal. I told them I just wanted their candidates to hear how much it mattered, and to consider supporting us. Both candidates campaigned on explicitly opposing same sex marriage that year, paying some small toll to the idea of the "seperate but equal" domestic partnership that the hospitals kept using to bar my step mother from mine and my mother's bedsides for the previous year, but assuring the party they wouldn't bow to "special interests" like me and my family or pressure companies and services to stop discriminating against us for existing anyway.

The year before Trump's first term, the last gay club in my town shut down after years of acting as the main hub for the entire local college population's queer students. I thought about Butch N Nellie's then too. It had been closed for almost half a decade and I hadn't seen it in longer, but watching the club throw its last bash felt like watching the café burn to the ground with my own eyes. I don't think it's anything more than coincidence how those experiences resonate with each other, but it doesn't escape me how the more "accepted" people insist my family is, the more of the places we made for ourselves are destroyed, only for us to be promptly shut back out of respectable society the moment we have nowhere else to turn.

My mother used to say we were damned if do, damned if we don't. That the problem was that we dared to exist without apologizing for what we were, and so everything we did would become not just immoral but a crime worthy of excommunication from society. She told me that once the state tells you there is nothing you can do to earn their mercy except die, you might as well do whatever the fuck you want. If existing is a justification to kill you, then you have nothing left to lose by existing in whatever form you can, even if the world insists on telling you otherwise. My mother shared this with me because she had spent her twenties selling drugs and hooking because it was the only way a teenage queer runaway could keep herself fed and cared for back in the day. And for the rest of my upbringing, she maintained that decriminalization, prison abolition, and the establishment of strong resistence movements were the only outcomes she was willing to accept from her world. She took me to my first protest on her hip when I was 6 months old, and we wrote monthly letters to detained people at local facilities while Mom took on call roles for the bail fund phone trees.

It is easy, I think, to forget that we still lived, really and truly lived, long before we ever had a hope or prayer of legal recognition or support in that life. We have made entire worlds for ourselves and everyone who loves us. We always will. It will never undo our losses. But nor will our losses ever undo a life lived in full.

If they would damn us for the crime of existing, make Gloria Anzaldúa proud and listen to your Jotería instead of whatever bullshit some imperialist gringo fuck thinks you should do to make them feel more comfortable.

This is not meant to be a comprehensive list of every appearance, but a walkthrough of what you need to read to understand Wanda's lore, history, and personal life events. I also have a breakdown of the Maximoff's powers and an explanation of their parentage and ethnic background. [This is an updated + condensed version of this post-- the formatting is messed up and I can't edit it, so I made a new one]

X-Men Vol 1 #4-11 (1964)-- Wanda & Pietro's first appearance as teenage mutants & Brotherhood members.

Avengers Vol 1 #16-27 (1965-66)-- The twins join the Avengers. Known as the "kooky quartet" era.

Avengers Vol 1 #91-108 (1971-72) -- Wanda begins a romantic relationship with Vision

Avengers Vol 1 #128-133 (1974)-- Wanda meets Agatha Harkness and begins studying witchcraft.

Giant-Size Avengers #1-4 (1974) -- Wanda meets Robert Frank and believes he is her father; Wanda and Vision get married.

Avengers Vol 1 #181-183 (1978-79)-- introduces Django Maximoff.

Avengers Vol 1 #185-188 (1979)-- also known as Nights of Wundagore, the twins return to Transia and learn about their birth on Mount Wundagore & the origin of Wanda's powers; Wanda is possessed by Chthon.

Vision & the Scarlet Witch Vol 1 & 2 (1983-85)-- Wanda & Vision acclimate to married life. Pietro's daughter Luna is born; the twins learn that Magneto & Magda are their birth parents; Wanda becomes pregnant and gives birth to twin boys.

Avengers West Coast #42-62 (1988-89)-- includes Vision Quest & Darker Than Scarlet storylines. Vision's memories and emotions are erased; the babies are destroyed by Pandemonium and Mephisto; Wanda learns that she is a Nexus Being while suffering the manipulations of Immortus. [the volume + issue numbering is weird on this one-- just look up the storyline titles and you'll find them.]

Force Works (1994)-- Wanda acts as team leader and begins a relationship with Simon Williams.

Scarlet Witch (1994)-- a miniseries which introduces Lore and expands on the concept of Nexus Beings.

Avengers Vol 3 #1-3; 10-11 (1998)-- Wanda learns more about chaos magic and resurrects Simon Williams.

Avengers Vol 1 #503-507 (2004)-- a storyline titled Chaos, which kicks off the Avengers Disassembled crossover. Wanda suffers an apparent mental breakdown and causes a series of calamities as her powers escalate to uncontrollable reality-warping.

House of M (2004)-- a sprawling crossover event set within an alternate reality of Wanda's creation; concludes with Wanda inadvertently erasing a large percentage of the mutant population. This is referred to as the Decimation, or M-Day. Wanda disappears and remains missing for several years.

Young Avengers; Young Avengers Special; Young Avengers Presents: Wiccan & Speed (2005-08)-- introduces Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd, who learn that they are Wanda's reincarnated sons and begin searching for her.

Avengers: The Children's Crusade (2010)-- the Young Avengers, Magneto, and Quicksilver discover Wanda as an amnesiac living in the care of Doctor Doom. They help her recover her memories and her powers are returned to normal.

Avengers vs. X-Men (2012)-- Wanda rejoins the Avengers. Alongside Hope Summers, Wanda helps banish the Phoenix from Earth and causes a proliferation of new mutant to manifest, the first step in her redemption for M-Day.

AXIS (2014)-- Wanda & Pietro learn that Magneto is not their father after all, and they're not actually mutants.

Uncanny Avengers Vol 2 (miniseries, 2015)-- the twins learn that their powers are the result of the High Evolutionary's genetic experiments.

Scarlet Witch Vol 2 (2016)-- Wanda returns to her magical focus and has henceforth been written as an adept spellcaster. The series does a lot of worldbuilding around witches and witchcraft. The twins learn that their birth mother was actually Django's sister, Natalya Maximoff, and that they are descended from a lineage of Scarlet Witches.

Doctor Strange Vol 4 (2016)-- Wanda is featured in the Last Days of Magic storyline.

Uncanny Avengers Vol 3 #26-30 (2017)-- Wanda rejoins the Avengers Unity Division and begins a relationship with Doctor Voodoo.

Avengers Vol 1 #675-690 (2018) -- a crossover event titled Avengers: No Surrender.

Quicksilver: No Surrender-- an excellent miniseries following the previous event. Wanda and Jericho use magic to aid Pietro.

Avengers: No Road Home (2019)-- a sequel to No Surrender.

Strange Academy Vol 1 (2020)-- Wanda becomes a faculty member at a school for young magic users.

Darkhold (2021)-- the original Darkhold is discovered; Wanda's prior experiences have made her strong enough to handle it without corruption; she merges the Darkhold with her own soul and uses it to bind Chthon.

Trial of Magneto (2021)-- Wanda stages her own death as part of an elaborate scheme to gain access to, and magically enhance, the Krakoan resurrection system, leading to her final redemption for M-Day.

Scarlet Witch Vol 3 (2023)-- Wanda opens a metaphysical shop in upstate New York and constructs a magical portal called the Last Door. New friends, enemies, and a new status quo are introduced.

Avengers Vol 9 (2023)-- Wanda joins a new iteration of the Avengers, led by Captain Marvel.

Contest of Chaos (2023) -- a crossover event. Agatha attempts to create a new Darkhold, much is revealed about the origin and nature of chaos magic.

Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver; Scarlet Witch (2024)-- a special anniversary miniseries which leads into the solo title relaunch. The twins are hounded by an abstract entity called the Griever as their powers begin to expand beyond their prior limitations; new context is given to Nexus beings; Chthon escapes containment.
