I think a core internet experiences is- YES, people are allowed to not like or enjoy the thing *I* like, but they have to dislike it CORRECTLY.

If I watch a youtuber not read any dialogue and then complain about the story not making any sense I'm seething. If I see a youtuber read all the dialogue and then still be like 'this story is shit' I'm like 'lmao yeah fair.'

It's all about knowing that the person actually gave it a fair chance and aren't just going into it already disinterested

watched the first two episodes of murderbot. i think it's very fun, and i will definitely continue to watch it, but i'm not feeling very trusted by the creative team. that first scene felt so unnecessary to me, like we had to be told that humans might be dicks to constructs, or that the governor module is Bad Actually, which all could have happened during the immediate next scene and maybe sprinkled in a bit through that first interaction with the presaux crew. imagine, instead, that we had opened with the whole 'refurbished model' 'what is that piece of crap' 'oh that's me' bit. i feel like that would be more on brand and a little bit less 'as you know, bob'. the company reps literally explain the governor module in that scene already. also why are we getting very telling shots of the deltfall hab at the end of the second episode?? idk. i know that this show was going to have a hard time impressing me to begin with, but i'm very willing to be excited by the process of adaptation! adaptations are cool! they're not one-to-one and they're not supposed to be! but i do wish that these creators trusted their audience a bit more, and maybe had a little bit more patience.

maybe I'm biased as an animator but the murderbot show shouldve been animated. Like it's already 80% animated with all the cg effects, should've just gone all the way so they could've gone nuts stylistically

I'm sorry but I just do not subscribe to the opinion that the hunger games movies were in any way bad or that they "butchered" the characters or themes that suzanne so meticulously and lovingly created, because a) she was always a constant presence in the creation of those movies and the directors/producers were very respectful and mindful of the differences between her books and what they could actually implement in a visual medium that would make sense and propel the story forward in a way that made sense in their interviews, and b) even though the movies definitely don't show all of the thematic nuances of the books, and although they do gloss over/erase a lot of the ways that the games affect katniss and peeta (namely his disability/her loss of hearing), and while the movies are quite preoccupied with the visual aesthetic and streamlining the story for a wider audience, they do still contain the heart and soul of the books and, to me, the creators seemed fiercely protective of suzanne's core vision. also fuck you they're just amazingly well-shot, well-written, and well-acted films, including the mockingjay movies, and i will die on this hill

i've only done commissions a couple times so far, so i'm still working to figure it all out honestly but i'm super flattered you're even interested at all 😭🫶. i want to set up a proper portfolio website w a contact/submission portion here soon. i use paypal for international payments but if youre in the us, i can do various apps we have here like venmo/cashapp.

as for the price, it just depends on the size of it! like the glove duo pins take some substantial time and are two separate pieces with extra material to link them so they are $250usd, while a singular portrait would be about $150usd-180usd depending on if you want added stuff to it like the crown or other accessories. those don't include shipping because international shipping is a bit wild and varied (within the us, it's like $8 for 3 day priority shipping), but for commissions, i take partial payment up front and then the rest when i finish/before i ship. i send updates along the way via whatever platform we communicate on, and if there are other ideas you're thinking about or curious about, i'm always down to talk it out. i know the price point's high but it's hard to go any lower with the sheer amount of time it takes to hand stitch them.
