i love the poorly drawn pokemon line that @otiksimr does here on this stupid hellscape

BUT GOD CHRIST THE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING HURTS MY BRAIN

poorly drawn doesn't mean bad or shit or unskilled

poor means lacking. meaning they barely tried. sometimes the best stuff is stuff you barely try at/for.

it's not bad. it lacks detail, and it lacks time and effort, but it's good art, and you know why??????

because all art is good. and to a certain extent, all art is poorly drawn. you are always lacking a skill or a technique that could be learned. nothing is perfect or expertly drawn. fuck man

i'm tired of words having connotations. other than slurs, most words just serve a purpose and purpose aren't inherently Anything at all

this is only tangentially about the poorly drawn pokemon series, and moreso about the way language and art intersect and folks' very rigid outlooks on both, despite both being flexible asf

when cait said "viktor's at the centre of all this isnt he?" i dont think we all understood how much "all this" was to jayce. to the viewers in the moment and everyone else in the room, "all this" meant the ongoing battle. to jayce, "all this" meant everything in his life up until this very moment.

viktor was the reason he became obsessed with magic, viktor was the reason he and his mother survived, viktor was the one who saved him from jumping, viktor was the one who had faith in him and helped figure out hextech, essentially giving him another chance in life.  AGAIN.  jayce's affection for viktor is what causes him to revive viktor with the hexcore, his promise to the older, future viktor is what brings him home with a renewed determination to get his partner back.

his entire life has revolved around viktor and he didn't even know it.

how do you think he felt learning that his "first" meeting back in s1e2 was in fact, destined to be? to learn that in every timeline and in every possibility, he and viktor will always find each other.

so to jayce, it was always viktor at the core of it all, and still is.

fun fact: in this scene, right after cait mentions viktor, jayce's pupils dilate.

then his memories show us a viktor that is much softer and even presents with a smile, which was NOT what we saw in the actual episode!
