Gods I fucking HATE going into the Heart Pirates tag and constantly seeing people post about how Law's crew "isn't there for fighting" and is just there for "emotional support." I don't even care if it's supposed to be a "joke" because frankly, I'm sick of seeing this shit. So I'm going to clear something up:

No crew, regardless of how strong their captain is, makes it to the New World if they aren't strong fighters.

Like, they don't just sit around on the ship and let Law do the hard work all the time. There is canon proof they can hold their own. They fought alongside the Mink Tribe when the Beast Pirates attacked Zou. They fought the Beast Pirates during the Raid on Onigashima. We saw they employ clever underwater tactics and hold their own against the like of fucking BLACKBEARD. You know, the guy who's one of the major villains of the whole series? Losing to him doesn't fucking make them weak. They lost because the guy is designed to be basically unbeatable by anyone but the main heroes.

Honestly. We've seen the Heart Pirates fight about as much as the Kid Pirates, and I don't see people claiming Kid's crew are "weak" and "just there for emotional support." Both these crews are strong and willing to fight, kill, and die for the sake of their captains.

I'm all for making a joke. I can genuinely laugh at the silly posts and memes. But when 90% of the posts about them are like this, it's clear people aren't telling a joke - they see them as a joke. Because it seems like nobody talks about them as a legit pirate crew to a powerful pirate captain. Characters can be powerful and badass AND strike goofy poses and be affectionate to their captain. It's what makes them interesting. The fandom really needs to realize that.

Tbh i am not surprised that a person who openly talked about having drinking problems since 1d days, because of how crazy 1d worked has been agressive. What surprises me is people being surprised (they never seriously saw drunk person?). But i am also confused about this whole book. Apparently Maya said that that book is not fully bout Liam but compilation about her exes and some of the worst parts are not about him. But recently she said that the book is “ofc about him” so what is true then? Or did she meant it that ofc some parts are about him or that whole book is about him?

I also am not surprised- we've learned so much more about the real stories of things and about the guys' actual lives over the last years, and the story that has unfolded around Liam has been totally consistent throughout if you've been following it, and so the information Maya is telling us is shocking and upsetting but not difficult to believe. I got an anon yesterday saying they were worried about getting similar revelations about the other boys, like "if Liam could be doing this we just don't know, any of them could", and while in a way that's always true I guess, anyone could be doing anything in private like... that doesn't really concern me. Because none of these Liam revelations are coming out of nowhere, there have been many MANY steps along the way leading us here if you've been watching, and he has talked openly about both his mental health struggles and his addiction issues. So to answer that anon... to find out something similar about Louis would in contrast contradict everything we know about him and no I'm not worried about it. Is he an abuser or a loose cannon, well that news would truly shock me to my core, I will be honest. But anyway as for the book I don't find it strange that she was nervous when it came out and treading lightly and later decided, fuck it. In the absolutely on point tiktok she dropped today (YES👏GIRL👏FUCKING TELL THEM👏) she even mentions attempts to keep her from publishing the book, presumably by Liam's team, that I am riveted by and cannot WAIT to hear more details about actually- like I said I don't find it at all strange that she was nervous and downplayed it a bit then. But if she says now that it's just about Liam, well, I would say it's been clear from the beginning that the book is their story. Maya herself brought up the parallel of songs being written about stuff and I think it's the same thing; it's true (she was in an abusive relationship that involved certain kinds of events) but maybe not 100% literal (I'm sure details were changed to make the story work, it's not like a word for word timeline of their interactions or whatever).

So I watched A Silent Voice with some but minor knowledge of the story going in. And right at the beginning when Shoko's bullying started I had the nagging worry that while Ishida would be redeemed they'd leave Ueno and Kawai as one-dimensional bullies. Painting the girls as the "real villains" while the male protagonist got to have depth. Anyway I just finished the movie and I would like to formally apologize to Oima Yoshitoki and Yoshida Reiko I should never have doubted you.

I think something that comes across Nakamura's works (I only read JrSihHc lol) is like highlighting how a mundane life spent with the right person bring's colors to ones' life.

Like, these characters don't really pull "I will quit my job for you!" etc etc and things like that. Usagi escapes his deadlines but still does his work and he DOES like his job too. Hiroki already warned Nowaki several times to not compromise on his job for their relationship especially since Nowaki is a pediatrician (I forgot if he's only an intern or already one).

Heck, SiH's whole premise is also work. Even Isaka despite being a menace in other's POV, is so busy that he rarely can spare time having a date.

However, because of that, they end up appreciating small things. Housework for Misaki is something natural to him, but when he cooks with Usagi, he enjoys it. Usagi keeps insisting eating dinner together even in a tough crunch time. (Heck, he literally wrote a children's book about Misaki's cooking)

Yukina enjoys cooking for Kisa and welcoming him home. Despite all his complaints, Hatori does all housework for Yoshino. Yokozawa's time with the Kirishimas. Things they usually do alone became special because they're doing it with the person special to them.

(Cue I don't really say "love" because love can also be painful and is pretty much the common theme for majority of JR couples is a failed first love then another love that truly makes them happy.)

So yeah, despite like almost all the casts being workaholics, their mundane life with their partners makes it livelier and in essence it's their quality time together. I just really enjoy that kind of theme of a mundane life being special because it's with someone you love.

imo karlach’s soul coin usage seems like it should have been a little more significant than it was.

she only ever really stops to consider the magnitude of burning through a person’s soul for power during an origin playthrough—otherwise she rationalizes to the player that they’re doomed anyway, and if using them gives her an edge in combat, why not use them for good instead of leaving them to be used by evil? the dialogue with lann tarv in act 2, where he tells the story of each soul he's handing over to her, tries to humanize each soul coin, and still she doesn’t really budge and disapproves pretty heavily if she's told no in regards to using them.

it just seems like something that could have caused some kind of conflict between her and wyll, given he sold his soul to a devil in dire circumstances and takes issue with the player for sleeping with mizora, because she 1) is mizora, and 2) similarly expends tormented souls during her romance scene, even if for a different purpose. but it just... never really comes up?

i love karlach. but that seems like it should have gone Somewhere, from a writing standpoint? karlach values wyll as a person but is willing to use currency forged from souls like his for the sake of a temporary power up. she knows the soul is consumed when she uses them. that whole exchange with lann tarv is there to emphasize that every soul coin she destroys was a person once. but it all kind of loses narrative purpose if this combination of factors doesn't mean anything? karlach doesn't change at all in her willingness to use soul coins, no matter what the player says or how much she cares for wyll.

idk. missed opportunity that wyll doesn't have any dialogue about this, of all things.
