Lando hadn't slept.

He hadn't been able to think straight.

People noticed at the premiere that he had only been there physically, but not anywhere near emotionally or mentally.

Critics kept saying it was because of the loss he took, or that maybe McLaren was trying to replace him with Oscar. Replace what Lando had built from the ground up.

The truth was, it was never that. It was the words he said to Y/N. It was the way her facial expression changed and broke as he spat absolute nonsense at her.

Everything he said was out of anger and frustration. He couldn't get his words out of his head. He couldn't get her out of his head.

It didn't help that his encounter with Max had haunted him. The way he had this fire in his eyes, he's rarely seen. Something he has rarely even seen on the track.

His emotions got the best of him that night, and they continued to get the best of him. When it came to the after-party post the F1 movie premiere, he couldn't stop thinking about Lewis' words.

It didn't stop him from messaging Max that night of the premiere, asking if it were true.

You have a lot of fuckin nerve to be sending me a message right now

That's all he received from the Redbull driver, nothing more, nothing less. Lando didn't know if he should be worried or have no right to be upset knowing what he knows now.

He didn't even think Max would send a response back. If anything, he expected a middle finger emoji if Max did respond.

Lando sat in the backseat of the large SUV, playing with his lower lip as his knee bounced continuously. His other hand was counting his fingers back and forth with his thumb.

To say he was a nervous wreck was an absolute understatement.

His mind wouldn't stop racing. It just wouldn't give him a quiet state of mind. Not once.

He had finally touched back home in Monaco, being driven back to his place as he kept arguing with himself if he should go see her once he was unpacked at home.

She'd probably slam the door on him. Or worse, Max would probably answer and have Lando's head on a stick for even trying to talk to her when she wasn't ready.

At that point, he wouldn't care if he was being honest with himself.

He decided against it for the time being, deciding that maybe he should try later in the week. Even though it would eat him alive till he saw her again.

Once Lando had gotten up to his place, he threw his stuff on his couch, the apartment already feeling empty and cold without her presence there. It was as if the light had left with her. His place was dark and gray in that moment.

He let out a sigh as he looked around the place, feeling both defeated, hungry, and tired. All at the same time.

When he went to his kitchen to see what he had for food, he let out a frustrated groan as he realized he had emptied his fridge before going away.

He slams it shut before heading back over to his living room to grab his wallet, keys, and phone, soon making his way out of his apartment to head towards the car garage.

It was a quiet drive as he drove down the still buzzing streets of Monaco, not missing the way some people were videoing his car passing by. Nothing out of the norm for his life, he didn't thinka single thing from it.

He tries to pull his hoodie higher over his head, adjusting his cap as well, not wanting people to catch the way his face looked more hollow and sad.

Once he makes it to the cafe parking lot, he pulls into a spot more secluded from the entrance and quickly scurries over to the front door.

The cafe smells like fresh coffee and grilled food, something that made the atmosphere feel much lighter than Lando had expected.

He goes up to order something to eat and drink, mentally fighting with himself to remember to have his assistant order his groceries later on when he is settled back home.

As he goes to sit at a table and wait, his eyes do a double-take and his body freezes.

His eyes lock with none other than Max Verstappen's own, who is walking into the cafe and waiting in line. Max's eyes looked like they could put him six feet under if they were able to.

Instead of Lando going to take a seat, he decides to stand over by the end of the bar, and wait paitently till Max was done ordering.

He could hear the way he had ordered Y/N's go-to choices, making his heart and chest cave in. He felt so many questions began to bombard his mind, not even stopping them from increasing as it made him just want to fix things with her more and more.

He knew that would probably be borderline impossible with Max being the way he was about her.

More or less, the way he felt about her.

Once Max had finished paying, he made his way down the line and closer to Lando, his eyes glaring at the green-eyed man.

As Max walked up to him, instead of bumping Lando's shoulder, he turned to the side and pushed himself past his figure. Lando's body reacted before he could, grabbing Max's forearm.

Max whipped around and shot a look at Lando, his eyes still having fire in them.

"Let go."

Lando clenched his jaw, feeling his self-esteem slowly increase. He wasn't going to give in.

"I'm not letting go," Lando shook his head. That meaning had more behind it, and he knew Max figured that out as his eyes widened only slightly.

Max clenched his jaw before snatching his arm away, turning his full body towards Lando, and crossing his arms.

"Oh, so now you've got some spunk in you? Where was that at dinner?" he asks. "You're lucky I don't put you in a fucking grave right now."

Lando nods slowly. "I deserve that-"

"You deserve way more than that."

"Yeah, I do. I'm not going to deny it," he admits, watching Max not let up on his stance. "I never meant to hurt her. You know me. You know me more than anyone else in that paddock."

Max scoffed and rolled his eyes. "I thought I did. Until you threw everything Y/N has ever known back in her face like it was so easy. Like she was a joke."

Lando rubs his face. "I never meant to say any of it. I won't even excuse it, because taking my frustrations out on her should've never been the case. I know that. I know that, Max."

"So why the fuck did you say it then? Hm?" Max shoots back, stepping closer to Lando. "Why would you break her heart like that? Why would you say she is-"

"Because I was upset! I know it's not a valid excuse, I don't want to make any excuses. Because this was unexcusable," Lando snaps back, huffing in a defeated way as he feels his eyes begin to burn. "I regret what I said. Every single day since then. She is not even close to anything I said. She is the absolute and complete opposite of it. She's been my rock forever, Max. And if anything, I took it for granted."

Max sees Lando's eyes turning red, hearing a small sniffle leave his figure. This made Max soften. Not out of guilt, but out of shock.

Lando rarely ever cried in public. It wasn't something he did. He was emotional when it came to racing, of course. This was a different story.

"Y/N is loving. She's caring. She always gives love to everyone around her because that's just who she is. She's a giver. And I took her for granted."

Lando looks up from his shoes to Max, shrugging his shoulders as he felt his emotions take over, making him feel defeated more than he did five minutes ago.

"I'm sorry, Max," he says before chuckling dryly to himself. "I'm saying sorry to you because I broke your trust with her. I'm sorry that I made you think you can't trust me to date her."

"I'm not her dad, I don't care who she dates. I'm just protective of who she is around because-"

"Because you're in love with her. I know that."

Max froze, his shoulders dropping. "What?"

Lando nods before biting his bottom lip. "Lewis told me. He said how you really feel for her. It's why you are so protective over who she keeps around."

"That fucking piece of-" Max stops himself before rubbing a hand over his face, shaking his head as he scoffs to himself.

"You know what I'm not sorry for, though?" Lando spoke up, making Max whip his eyes to Lando, squinting at him.

"I'm not sorry for loving her, too. I'm also not sorry for wanting to fight for her," Lando admits. "I want her. I want her more than anything in this world, or the next. I want her more than a fucking world championship."

Max feels his chest tighten at his words, trying hard to not smack Lando in that moment.

Yet, at the same time, Max didn't blame Lando. He couldn't blame Lando for speaking his truth. He had more balls than any of the other racers at that moment.

Yes, Max loved Y/N. He always has, and deep down he always wished it would've been him she chose.

He also wasn't going to force her to fall for him; he wanted her to make a choice in who she wanted. Who she wanted to love.

At the end of the day, he just wanted her happy.

So, as Max stood in front of Lando, he took in every single detail of Lando's appearance. Thinking back to how much Y/N had raved about Lando when they first got together. How right he treated her, no matter the circumstance. Lando was her one.

And Y/N was Lando's.

"I'm not going to ask for your forgiveness, because I don't deserve it. I don't deserve hers at all, out of anyone's. I just wanted to get that off my chest. It's been eating me up," Lando adds. "But it doesn't mean I won't redeem myself for her, and show her how long I'm willing to wait to make things right."

Before they can say anything further, both of their names are called, causing them both to go grab their items.

Lando grabs his, Max still looking at him with a frown on his face. Lando gives him a purse smile.

"See you around, Max."

With that, Lando leaves and makes his way to his car.

"Lando."

Max's voice calls out behind him, causing Lando to stop and turn his head to look at the Dutch man.

Max walks up to Lando, stopping in front of him. Only to peer down at the items in his hand, and soon motioning over towards Lando to take.

They were Y/N's items. Her iced latte she loved, her favorite pastries, and a chicken caesar wrap with crisps.

"Don't fuck this up. Or you're not getting another chance. Ever," Max says, giving Lando the bag and coffee.

Lando looks up at him with a confused frown. "What?"

Max shrugs before letting out a huff. "Yeah, I love her too. I do," he admits with a nod of acceptance. "But I love seeing her happy more. And she gets that with you."

Lando feels his heart swell at the thought of that. Of her feeling that way with him.

"She's gonna kill me, but if this works out, it will be worth it," Max says dryly. He pats Lando's shoulder.

"Don't. Mess. This. Up."

With that, Max walks off towards his car. Lando slowly turned back to his car, setting the items in his car nicely so none of them spilled. Once he fully got into his car and turned the ignition, he sat there for a moment, just thinking about everything he was going to say.

Then he took a deep breath, put his car in drive, and set off for Y/N's apartment.

Y/N had frowned at Max's message as it came in, wondering what he could've meant as she sat there.

He sent that message over fifteen minutes ago, still not back from the cafe. She hadn't known whether to worry or not, as he didn't respond to her questioning messages.

There were soon a few soft knocks on her door, making her frown to herself. She got up from her spot on the couch, wrapping the large hoodie more over her figure as she got to the door.

"Max, you can just walk in-"

As she opened the door, her voice froze mid-sentence, and her eyes widened.

"Hi."

She stood there frozen, looking at Lando, who stood there with the cafe bag in his hand and her iced latte in the other. His face showed a sign of uneasiness and caution, but she could also see he looked so tired.

"Lando?"

"May I come in?"

"Why are you here?"

"I want to fix things," he shrugs slowly. "Or at least say my part, and then you can kick me out. I just wanted to at least see you. Talk to you."

Y/N stayed silent for another moment before slowly moving to the side and letting him come in.

Once he had gotten inside, it immediately made him feel warmth grow in his chest. The familiar scents that screamed her, the warm lighting from her lamps and fairy lights in the room eased his mind. Eased his emotions.

He set her stuff down on the coffee table, his eyes catching her go to binge-watch show playing quietly on the TV.

Lando turned to face her once again, taking in her figure. Not missing that the large sweatshirt she wore had been one of the pairs he gave to her. It was his favorite one he owned, but he gave to her because he loved seeing her in it.

His eyes soon find her own, seeing her face also flush as she probably noticed he caught her wearing it.

"You can talk," she spoke softly, keeping her arms crossed and keeping a safe distance. He hated seeing how far she stood from him. The more they stood across from one another, was like his body began to realize it was her there. It had begun to crave the touch he knew and loved all too well.

"I first off want to say I'm sorry," he says slowly, clearing his throat. He watches her face contort lightly, as if she hated hearing the apology. He nodded. "I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's the first thing I need to tell you. Because I am. I will spend the rest of my days saying that."

Y/N stays silent, only nodding slowly for him to proceed.

"I don't condone anything I said, and no excuse will make up for what I said. How I reacted," he croaked out, trying his best to keep his voice from shaking fully. "No matter how upset or mad or frustrated I get, I shouldn't use you as a punching bag. It's not fair to you, especially when you're all I want after I have a shit day."

"Then why did you say that stuff?" her voice cracks out, making his chest tighten and his heart break. He sees her eyes watering.

"Out of frustration. I was upset at the race. At McLaren. At myself," he admits. "So I pushed you away. Distanced you from me because it was getting harder. I didn't want you to see me at my worst."

"You know I would never judge you. I'll never downplay you at your worst times. I've never done that. Did I do something to make you think that?"

He began to shake his head quickly. "No. Absolutely not, never. You've never shown me any sign of that," he reassures her as he takes a few steps closer to her. He watches as her body cowers lightly at his closeness, so he stays where he then stood.

"You have done nothing but love me, care for me, and show me how much I deserve. Showed me more than I think I've ever deserved," he assures her.

Lando watches her lower lip wobble, her eyes never leaving his own. He can see the puffiness underneath them now from where he stood.

He wanted to do nothing but take her into his arms, and shut them both away from the rest of the world and nurse her back to herself again. The her he loved that he broke apart.

"You were never clingy. You were never too much for me. You were never any of that," he shook his head as he looked down at her. "You've been nothing but loving, caring, selfless, and my anchor. You have always been everything I've ever needed."

Y/N sniffles as she looks at him. "Because I love you, Lan. Because you made me happy in my own skin."

He sighs in relief, nodding at her. "Y/N, I love you so much. So so much. I love you for you. I love who you are, and I'd never want you to change that. I fucked up in the worst way possible, and I can't tell you how much I regret that entire interaction. It haunts me. Absolutely haunts me."

"What if you were right? What if I am too much?" she chokes out, and he shakes his head.

"You're not, Y/N, you are not. You bring nothing but light and warmth to this world. To my world. To the F1 world. You are the absolute sunshine. Don't dim that light. Please," Lando shakily says, tears falling freely from his eyes. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I made you think you were. You aren't. You're everything."

Y/N slowly takes a step closer to Lando. Then another. Then another. Then another, until she is right in front of him.

Both of them are crying freely. Something she hasn't seen much from Lando, and she could tell his body had held in so much. So, being who she always has been, she reaches up her hand and softly uses the pad of her thumb to wipe away some of his tears.

She doesn't miss the way his body physically relaxes at her touch, a sigh of relief leaving his shaky lips as he closes his eyes. His body almost chasing her hand as she cups his cheek just barely.

"You have no idea," he says, slowly shaking his head. "No idea how much I miss you. How much I miss your touch. I crave it. I literally crave you, Y/N."

His eyes open slowly to find her own, looking down at her.

"I'm so sorry."

Y/N just looks back and forth between his eyes, before nodding slowly. Lando lets out a few relieving breaths as she nods, feeling his whole body relax as he keeps his eyes on hers.

"Please let me touch you. Hold you. Anything."

"Okay."

With that, Lando doesn't hesitate to wrap his arms around her waist tightly, lifting her up and wrapping her legs around his hips as he carries her to her couch.

He lays them down, her on top with her body wrapped around his own. Lando's grip not letting up, scared as if she might slip away again.

The pair held each other tight, Y/N finally letting her sobs fall freely as Lando held her tight, caressing every piece of skin he could. His voice stayed hushed as he whispered sweet nothings and apologies in her ears, vowing to never hurt her again. How he promised he would never let her slip away.

Y/N looked up from her spot in his neck a few moments later, as her sobs came to quieter sniffles, his eyes looking down at her.

Before she knew it, she had slowly pressed her lips onto his own, Lando humming softly at her lips on his after much too long. He felt his heart growing again, Y/N feeling her chest become full again the more she stayed in his arms.

The pair knew that there was much to work from, and much to still sort out. They knew they'd come back strong, it was just going to take time.

This was a start.

Soup, who was sprawled out on the beanbag behind me, one arm casually draped over my gaming chair, merely grunted, his eyes still glued to his own phone. "Hey, pay attention, this involves you, mister," I nudged him with my elbow. He finally looked up, a lazy, amused smirk on his face. "Oh? Did someone finally make a supercut of all my best bad plays?"

"Worse. Or better, depending on your perspective," I giggled, fumbling with my phone. "Someone made an edit of us. Like, a full-on romantic-slash-threatening-slash-hilarious edit. And the song choice, chat. Oh my god, the song choice."

The chat immediately exploded with guesses: "TRAITOR?", "GOOD 4 U?", "JEALOUSY JEALOUSY?"

"Nope, nope, and definitely nope," I shook my head, my grin widening. "It's Olivia Rodrigo, yes. But it's... 'Prison for Life'." I could almost hear the collective 'WTF' from the thousands of viewers. "I literally saved it because it was just too good to delete. Hold on, let me grab the link for you motherfuckers."

I navigated through my phone, found the post, and quickly copied the share link. "Okay, here we go. Prepare yourselves." I pasted the link directly into stream chat, then leaned back in my chair, watching the rapid-fire reactions scroll by. "See it? The vibes? The commitment?" I gestured wildly at the screen, then at Soup. "Honestly, I watched it like five times. Because, chat, this," I pointed at Soup, who was now peeking over my shoulder at the video on my own monitor, a slow, knowing smile spreading across his face, "Now this is a true song about Soup going to prison if someone hurts me.."

The chat erupted again: "SOUP GANG!", "PROTECT HER AT ALL COSTS!", "ICONIC!", "RIDE OR DIE!"

I turned my head to look at Soup properly, my expression softening from playful to genuinely affectionate. "And you know what?" I leaned over to rest my head on his shoulder, letting out a soft sigh as I relaxed against him. "Trust me, chat, we are in this til we die."

Soup chuckled, a deep, rumbling sound that vibrated through me. He gently shifted, bringing his free arm up to wrap around me, pulling me closer still. He leaned down and kissed the top of my head, a warm, comforting gesture that made my heart swell.

"Damn straight," he rumbled, his voice carrying clearly to the mic, a playful edge to it. "You motherfuckers know it, ride or die bitch right here."

I giggled, burying my face into his side, the warmth of his body a solid, comforting anchor. The chat exploded with a mix of heart emojis, skull emojis, and 'AWWWWWWWs' that I could almost hear. It was a silly fan edit, an absurd song choice for a relationship that was mostly chaotic banter, shared snacks, and late-night gaming sessions, but in that moment, nestled against Soup, it felt profoundly true. OK SO ALI FROM THE FUTURE - writing this was such a pain (not your fauly obvi im just bad at writing) and while there is kinda a summary for eveyrhting, its not the best. I feel really bad making you wait for an answer so i dont want to wait any longer posting it, but i also may take more time to fully explore these ideas in the furture instead of rush writing it at midnight while i want to go to bed. sorry for rushing this but i dont want to put it off cause i dont want to forget

OK LETS START WITH THE MtN AU ONE WOOOOOHHH

for starters, forget everything about mtn we have to do some world building so i can give them tramu and project yada yada

there's 4 seperate kingdoms and for the most part every pc is in charge or royalty there. And while some connections are there (vernation and tcnation have a trading route together and plan on meeting soon) for the most part the kingdoms are seperate. The rulers have enough on their plate and the kingdom of skill is completely cut off anyways.

as i mentioned each one of the pcs has their own little backstory i gave them with own personal desires / fears i gave them for fun :3. and look i should be talking about it, hell its one of the major parts of my story but also like, that would be a lot of work yada yada so ill just leave that for another day ig.

anyways mtn bascially kidnaps them and makes them play the dnd type thing. He'll only let them go if they manage to "save the princess" and besides some bullying every once and a while we don't really see any more of mtn.

from here on out we basically follow mtn first dnd video with the party crashers and yippee yippe thye did it, but oh no! sophsit is dead. rip that guy i guess. I do have plans for a second "book" to do the second mtn dnd video with them, though thats less flushed out and i could not even start tellign you about it.

SUPER HERO AUUUUU WOWOWOOWOWO

ok so mayhaps the most important part is the super powers. and look, they're weird ok. I need you to not judge me ok. they dont make sense just trust bro ok.

Sophsit and vernias have teh most straight forward ones. think about mtn gameshow and its just that but a bit more.

Vernias's power is described to be "of light", "of the angels", or "healing" magic. He basically serves as a defesnive healer. And while he can do more than that its really what he sticks to. Since his powers are so closely linked with that of angels he does have angel wings strong enough to carry himself and another person, though more often than not uses it just to hover cause its cool.

Sophist's magic is either called dark magic or magic of the devil. In the wizard/magic society this type of magic is banned due to its overwhelmign power and eventual outcome of corrupting the user (whatever the fuck that means). And while some of his strongest attacks come from a staff (oh yeah vernais has that too) he is able to do weaker attacks from his hands (its really cool trust).

brent - really fucking skilled. AND LOOK. "wow ali thats just his fucking name why not come up with anything more creative like electricity wtf do you do with skill anywyas-" LOOK I MADE THIS LIKE A YEAR AGO AND I CANT CHANGE IT IM SORRY. to add on to this i kinda imagine his crown is able to turn into different weapons he can use too. more often than not he choses a sword or a axe, but really it can be any weapon (ig it could be a gun but im not letting that happen in canon so fuck off /j). He would have better jumping/speed and whatever else those anime girls can do in heels if that makes sense. (if you even watched glitter force think of their abilites minus the fucking super attack yk? am i making sense????? trust me nick's is worse)

Years later, while Odysseus is away, something she's wearing keeps tickling her. She gets annoyed with it and has it taken off to see what it is ("My weaving is always flawless. >:( wtf is this?") only to look in the area and see that it was hair tickling her. A tiny bit of it is coming out from the cloth. It's not black and straight like her own. Nor is it black and curly like her son's. It's auburn and curly. Anticlea died years ago. And she remembers what she was doing when she first started this weaving.

ANYWAYS!!! BACK TO KITTY CATS!!!

Penelope liked these critters because of that but also, "Heyyyyy, you're pretty good at fishing, you funky little creature!!!" Also, they like playing with string so weaving is always fun. Little headcanon but Ithaca doesn't really have as many cats as Sparta (hopping off ships from Egypt). So while Odysseus has seen them, he never really thinks much of them but then Penelope is like "yes, this is my weird little creature. You think you like me? You like this creature now." and he plays with Anthos a little and then is like, "Okay, I see why you like them...Penelope, why is she buzzing?👀 You promised you wouldn't put me in dangerous situations anymore!"

Probably a few cats are brought over for her but it doesn't become like, overrun you know?

Probably others were a bit annoyed by it at first. (cat hair to clean, cats are chaos, etc.) but the king and queen are scary when they want to be. Argos gets along pretty okay with them too!

Since having kitties outdoors is very dangerous, as there are birds of prey and such. A hawk once picked up one of the kitties but an Owl brought kitty back :')

Kitties know that Olive tree bed is NOT a scratching post.

so it's been around 7 years (changed it from 5 to 7) of them being married when Telemachus is born. And Anthos (and others) are very gentle with him but also "please don't grab me so roughly with your little baby hands".

Anthos is a bit older by the time he's around four so Penelope usually holds her but Anthos has had some kittens and...

Penelope: Telemachus, you sure you got him, sweetie? Telemachus: Yuh-huh.

Telemachus loves them as well btw. And he learns how to hold them right but the cat he's holding is pretty chill anyways.

When Odysseus is a "beggar", and before Penelope comes to see him. He sees two kittens playing and thinks "Okay, they're definitely from Anthos' line." and rips a bit of the rags he's wearing to make a string and kind of plays with them. Then Melantho comes in and they run off and he's like "okay, they don't like you. Why is that?" and then he sees why.

When Odysseus is on Aeaea, it's...stressful and he feels on edge. He gets a specific "nightmare" and it's not a fun time. Yes, they dance and sing but he's still very stressed. (Headcanon that Odysseus is actually a pretty good dancer.) Circe has a lot of BIG cats and she has one that is a big black panther with blue eyes (yes, this cat was once a man. he actually will kind of have a story of his own in my fics eventually) And sometimes when he's by himself and not doing well, Big Black kitty will come in and kind of lay on him. Makes him think of Anthos and home. :'D

Polites: That panther seems to like you a lot. He's always following you. Odysseus: Yeah, he's my buddy.

unpopular opinion (!) but i actually rlly like that they got a hair cut 😭. like listen, id be all on board with them (this is exclusively about dan, phils haircut is perfect) letting the hair on the top get longer because release the floof (think of swwtty hair but more tidied up) but in the end the way it was didnt rlly look good with the hair on the sides and in the back. it was growing all over and started to wage into bowl cut territory. ALSO in some shots in the latest tiktok video dans hair looked sm like his emo fringe .-. it rlly freaked me out. tbf it was very hot in england (so i was told) so that probably played a role too, but it was kind of turning his head into an oval and that didnt sit right with me. sth was wrong in the universe. everytime he has his hair in take over his forhead i get flashbacks/j. but it was probably the heat. i have rlly straight hair which doesnt behave differently in diff weather so i have no idea what its like. sometimes he does just look like a little crazy boy tho.

And so: Jom strolls onto the scene during the engagement celebration to fuck a lil' shit up? Damn. As @shortpplfedup said to me in post-ep discussion: in that moment, as Jom interrupts the dinner, are we seeing Jom realizing that he has "nothing to lose"?

Jom learns through Ming that Eaeung Phueng was caught having an affair with Maey. Fong Kaew then comes to ask for help in saving Maey. And then Jom learns that Yai will be engaged.

Jom is putting two and two together: this is a family in which the parents are starving their children of the real affection that their children desire. BOTH OF THEIR KIDS. Both of their kids are gay. BOTH OF THEIR KIDS are potential embarrassments. Their parents will NOT let their kids lead the lives they want. As much as Yai will talk to his father about the life that YAI wants to lead: his father's power will always win out, and his mother WILL go along with what his father says. This is not a family that will allow the heteronormative paradigm to change. And we are reminded, constantly, that Yai's father's career very much hinges on his children following a literally straight path.

(Let me just fucking say that rewatching Bad Buddy right now is NOT HELPING MY FEELINGS towards BAD ASIAN PARENTS at this moment, lol help me.)

Anyway, I thought an interesting parallel to all of this was Pat's shooter's James's encounter with Robert (uhhhh, wtf James, just strolling into the servants' holding area, huh? I was like, what are YOU doing here, lol.) James sits Robert down to tell him: homeboy, you gotta focus on work. And Robert's like, nah dude, too much shit's going down at home. And James is like, bruv, what do you care more about? You are going to let your work go, and let your reputation go, because you're not concentrating enough on your job? Don't mess this shit up because of the house stuff.

I am absolutely, 100% like this sideeye (-_-) re: James -- I question his motives, because we have no idea what his priorities are, and Robert says as much.

But it's interesting that we got this parallel -- one side from within Yai's family, and another side from two foreigners, both saying that family life can be enough of a distraction to take down careers. This threat transcends Thai culture, as James's and Robert's backgrounds indicate. And that the struggle that these entities have is in making REALLY SURE that the family lives are as calm and copacetic as possible so as to NOT risk the careers of anyone involved.

Saving face, anyone? The effort to save face in these instances could VERY well cost a life or lives, and I think we know that Jom knows that as he begins to embark on his risky show at the end of the episode.

He may be trying to leverage his modern perspective on LGBTQ+ equality, because -- he sees his own fate repeating itself from past to present, and vice versa. If we take the Buddhist analogy further: is this a change he needs to make in a past (or future?) life in order to stop the cycle of repeating fates in his lives?

It might be. I don't know. We could call it a clown theory, but director Tee Bundit has referred to "dimensions" in the IFYLITA behind-the-scenes videos, so I'm really not sure. But we can safely assume that Buddhist practices infuse this show (remember the encounter with the side-eye monk in the last episode), so... reincarnation is a directional possibility.

All of this to be said. As Jom's fate repeats itself, I'll also note that certain Asian cultural practices like saving face also repeat themselves (...... can't believe I'm infusing almost all of my writing with Bad Buddy these days, but alas -- Bad Buddy shows that saving face in Asian societies is well and thriving in our modern times).

And maybe this is a theme of IFYLITA -- repetition. Of Jom's fate, yes. Of saving face, yes. Of prioritizing work and reputation over a family's happiness, yes. Traditions and behaviors that get inherited and passed down through families and societies, generation after generation.

And Jom arrives on the scene to change the paradigm. We don't know what risks he and/or Yai (AND EP, AND Maey) will face, but he's about to change some shit, and we'll see what that fall-out will look like.

She knows that Rossi would've backed Hotch up no matter what and supported him, which I think is where people we're talking about in this scene. However.... Rossi is also right in what he says here. He shouldn't have embarrassed her like that earlier, but he calls her out on her biased thinking. That's way too many consequences to deal with emotionally, but also legally. (big spoilers on the case here: the unsub ends up dead).

Omg wait. The cuts between Voit talking to Luke and the unsub in Utah with his victims. I think it's supposed to show the audience that the team has to pretty much start their whole profile over. Especially with the Utah case going along with what he's saying. Everyone will believe the lie all they want, could get someone killed, the BAU's methods is profiling based on abusive childhoods affecting the unsub, and in this case, it got "someone killed before he could spread it" = the unsub. Because of this, the director will make the BAU not work with Voit any further bc they screwed up. Basically, the case is not connected and that drives the team farther away from Voit's answers and Gold Star as a whole.

Ok I just wanna say the directing choices especially in the cell scenes, AJ has said that the cell becomes its own character in a way. In this case, the cell (bars) could indicate who is really “in prison/behind bars”, Voit or JJ/Luke. It’s the most prominent with JJ and Voit tho bc there’s a lot going on. The closeups with the two of them, especially JJ, could be hinting at something. (And if you’ve followed the articles and interviews of the cast, JJ will be involved in some way). (Forgot about this in the middle of the post lol)

Saw your post about a viking underdress - do you have a pattern for it? I’ve never sewn anything other than, like, a button back on, and I don’t know where to start but I need an authentic, basic viking/Anglo-Saxon long sleeved dress and can’t find a pattern anywhere! People in reenactment that I’ve asked about it have just said ‘sew one, they’re really easy’ but I’ve never made anything 🤣🥹😭.

Aha! So it is pretty easy, but knowing that alone definitely isn't sufficient instruction 😂

DISCLAIMER FOR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING: I only do Norse stuff for fun, and therefore haven’t gone as in-depth with research as I do with some of my other projects. This is good for a generic viking-look kit, and it will be sufficient so that no one should go "thats horrible wtf are you doing", but if you wanna delve properly into the world of norse garments, don't take me as an authority on the subject xD

When I was first starting out in costuming, youtube was my friend. Opus Elenae makes a viking underdress here, but the video itself is largely aesthetic, without sufficient instruction to make one yourself.

Elin Abrahamsson has a more in-depth tutorial of the same pattern here, though hers is made for the 14th century. I recommend following hers for the basic construction, and making the gores a little longer (Viking gores would have been from armpit to hem), and following the neckline part of the Opus Elenae video. You also don't need to shape it at all - AFAIK the vikings didn't do that (see disclaimer though).

Also the sleeves are different: Viking sleeves were more of a trapezium shape, with the length from elbow to wrist, one width the circumference of your shoulder, and the other width the circumference of your relaxed elbow (so you can push the sleeve up if needed). You also want a little square about 15-20cm that is inserted diagonally in the sleeve and side seam so that you can move your arm.

Here is a semi-decent PDF on viking patterns, though their underdress pattern is different to what I used. The "Birka Style Tunic" is the closest to the pattern I've been describing - you'll just want to make it dress-length, and add the front and back gores.

Additional notes:

- always, for the love of all you hold dear, fell/finish your seams so they can’t fray

- make your hem measurement a couple of inches lower than you think you want it - it’s way easier to trim that down than it is to add back on.

- when inserting gores, you want it to be sewn in so that the *middle* of the gore is in line with the rest of the hem - the corners will stick out slightly beyond that. You then trim them down to make a nice circle. If you match the corners to the hem, the gore will rise up in the middle.

- best of luck with inserting the middle gores. Expect to have to unpick them a couple of times 🥲

- remember to add seam allowance to your measurements! I usually add 1.5cm-2cm.

- if you're short on fabric, you can cut the gores by tracing out a rectangle of the same length and half the width, cutting it diagonally from corner to corner, and then sewing together the two triangles along the straight edge. This is the common historical way to do it for that time period.

Anyway, hopefully this all makes some kind of collective sense!! It's very distressing to me that I wasn't able to find a comprehensive tutorial on the matter, and has made me even more convinced that I should attempt my own channel. Let me know if you have any further questions!

Truthfully, I have a love and hate relationship with this arc. Mostly because this might be the last encounter of Adu Du and Probe on this universe? I'm gonna miss my beloved villain duo so much...

(ah... Another parallel with Sonic movie 3. Wtf Paramount and Monsta? Why you made my heart shattered back to back?😭😭)

But at the same time, Gentar arc is my least favorite arc of the season 2.

That's why I'm honestly not that hype during the show run. I just have to wait until all episodes are released. Fortunately, I didn't have to wait that long since this arc has four episodes. It's fitting for its short stories as well. No surprise there.

But what surprises me is that Monsta still manages to insert a sub-plot to bridge the gap between Gentar and Baraju's arc.

The show's newest strategy is to show off Gentar to the audience even before the arc was released. And you can see it from the pr tactics as well like this post I wrote before.

And it worked.

Essentially Gentar is the only fusion who's introduced earlier than the rest of the elemental and particularly also the first one who has a distinct personality from the rest of everyone else.

And that's my line over there.

Before anyone jumps to any conclusion, give me a minute to expand my reasons for this.

One of my biggest concerns in season 2 is how much Monsta wants to give a new power to a single character alone? At this rate, they might as well create new characters rather than pushing the existing characters to their limit.

I already wrote this topic before in my season 2 review and I honestly thought before reading Gentar, my view of fusion is:

1. It's an alternative way to use rather than straight-up to his unstable 3rd, and-

2. It's always used as an emergency technique.

But then Gentar comes in and twists anything I learned from him. He unexpectedly jumped in and turned the table all around with his traits and stuff.

But do I hate Gentar as an individual?

Of course not! >:(

I've said this before how much the resemblance between him and Chai from video game Hi-Fi Rush(link). And I love his magnetic mech power! His design and overall, also one of my fav MYS VA, Nur Fathiah Diaz, is slaying as Gentar (GO QUEEN!)

But if you guys like fusion characters, more power to you! Even though fusion characters aren't my cup of tea, I still love to read fanfics and fanarts.

Okay so I understand that some celebrities are in certain positions and have contracts with certain company so they can't talk about the stuff with Palestine or they lose their jobs. That's fucked up as hell but in this economy I understand (and that's also another conversation for another time how certain companies won't let their employees talk about a literal genocide openly or they lose their jobs. Like wtf) BUT then those celebrities shouldn't say anything at all. Because if they do say something about the situation they're gonna say something like how they're neutral or even vaguely or directly say that they support Israel's actions.

And news flash, even taking a neutral stance on this whole thing is less helpful than just staying silent. If you can't talk about it, don't talk about it. Don't say anything. Keep your mouth shut. There are just some situations where if you can't say anything, then DON'T SAY ANYTHING. Because trust me, there are plenty of other people who will scream about this situation until they lose their voice. Will make content about it until that's all they're known for. My whole point is that we can't rely on celebrities and well-known people in this situation to talk about this. We shouldn't rely on them in these situations anymore. This post isn't "all celebrities bad" cause I straight up don't think that's true. This post also isn't "give celebrities a break" because I don't care. This post is that anyone who CAN talk about this horrific genocide should be! As much as they can! Even if you just make posts about it that's better than nothing!

I've seen a lot of people rely on well-known public figures to do something about this, but they either CAN'T or WON'T. So it's up to us. The kids and adults and senior citizens on the internet with silly little accounts on silly little apps. And we've already started and have been doing a great job! Go onto any app and look up "Palestine" and you will see THOUSANDS of videos or posts from well-informed adults educating people on the history on this situation to 5 year olds attending protests with a sign in their hands and a watermelon painted on their faces. We can't rely on celebrities anymore. And a lot of us can't even rely on our governments anymore! So it's up to us. Just because you don't have a million followers or haven't starred in a Netflix show doesn't mean you don't have a voice! It doesn't mean you can't do something! Speak up! Donate! Boycott! Go to protests! Make posters and hang them around your neighborhood or something! Make art! Even if you can't do much, which is totally fine btw, do whatever you can! Because you CAN do something. We can't rely on public figures to be our voice anymore, we have to be our own voice.

Like yes, there's a lot of history of completely normal people standing up against injustice but I'm talking about today. How people are relying on public figures and celebrities today. Let's not do that anymore and let's do something ourselves. And almost everyone has a phone nowadays and almost everyone has access to social media. If you're reading this, you probably have access to social media. Use that to your advantage. We've got this guys! We can do this! I know we can! I believe in us.

Side note but if there are celebrities that are taking a neutral stance on this or even openly supporting Israel, as long as they aren't actively causing harm or spreading misinformation about Palestine, then don't focus on them. Don't waste your energy. Stop supporting them, talk about it once, twice, maybe even three times, and then leave them alone and focus on the active genocide going on in Palestine. Those celebrities aren't worth your time, the people in Palestine are. We can't let this genocide just happen right in front of us.

This all also applies to the situations going on in Congo, Sudan, and Haiti. But I'm just specifically talking about Palestine cause that's what this applies to the most. I'll talk about Congo, Sudan, and Haiti as well soon.

Hello! Oh no, I'm not bothered at all - quite the opposite, actually. This is such a sweet message. You don't owe me any thank you, but that's nice from you.

I was glad to see your post too. I was only looking for Heavy Rains' fan arts and gifs (well, especially those about Norman Jayden, but I think that I was open to a lot of things), but I didn't expect to learn anything about the next (unfortunately abandoned) game.

The potential was insane. The fact that it was centered on Norman already got me, but Jack Reilly's existence and their life together? Like omg? First, that means that Norman is canonically gay / bi, which is both awesome and unexpected.

I really had a great time with this video game. It probably was my first narrative game (and more specifically, a game with choices, but I don't know how to say it in English) and I loved the experience. I played it a few times and also watched some let's play (I just finished one today, because a very well known French streamer just discovered Heavy Rain and I wanted to live this experience again). It's always cool. A lot of feelings, several linked points of vue, endearing characters... bref, it works, and it's hard to just move on after the end.

However, it's really hard to ignore how the whole game shows a typical straight male gaze. Like all the time, and it's not even subtle. Women are objectified for no purpose - just because they can do it, I guess? This is not just about David Cage's shower obsession (like really, how many shower scenes? is it a kink or something? for real, it happens too often to be ignored ahah), but how he portrays his female characters. It's quite painful to watch. How many sexual aggressions? We even have a particularly scary agression in a dream? Was any of it really necessary? Did they exist in any other way?

Oh, yes, we had Madison Paige. I liked her, but she was not an exception at all. She also was over sexualized - not surprising, at this point - but that's not all. Yes, she is smart and brave. But that doesn't erase the fact that she only exists to be here for Ethan Mars. She was the nice nurse that helped him every time he was hurt, because that's how women are supposed to be.

Gender roles are very stereotyped and it even starts in the firsts minutes of the game, when Grace is depicted like if she was so boring. She took care of the children all day, managed all the organization herself and is basically exhausted.

And when she comes home, what? Ethan didn't do anything. He has to wait for his wife to tell him what to do, to remember that yes, it's his kid's birthday and he should be more invested. So a very hard task, to get the table ready... except he doesn't even know where the plates are, how to open the placard (I don't remember the English word, sorry) and can't even take care of the material. But he did it, so I guess we should applaud?

And after that, Grace continues to set up everything, without any consideration, while he goes out to play with the kid. It brings him the good role. I guess that Grace would love to spend fun time with her children too, but she can't since she is the only one to be invested in his son's birthday organization.

So when I read that Norman Jayden had a boyfriend, I was just confused. Wtf David? Were you drunk or something? How could you even not think straight? I know that sometimes a strong enough misogyny can involuntarily become gay, but still. This is so far from what we saw in Heavy Rain. I was not expecting it to be somehow canon. But it is, and I take it. It's just so sad that we'll (probably) never see it as a game.

The fandom seems to do the job for all of us. It doesn't appear as dead as you say, really. I saw some AO3 fanfictions... but didn't read any of it yet. It's not that easy to start an English story when you're so far from being fluent. I already struggle to read in French due to my attention issues (or at least it is the main reason), so starting a story in English is something else - and way harder. I already did it, but not many times and my level stays way too low for me to don't see any difference. Anyway, I hope to be able to start some of them. I saw a lot of potential in a few Norman/Ethan stories and I don't want to miss it.

Well, now, I also hope that Norman/Jack fanfictions exist. I guess not, according to your post? If so, what a waste. We don't know much about them (or at least I do not), but already enough to write a very entertaining story. Jack Reilly obviously was a very skilled scientist. He worked on advanced technologies and Normand used them on the field. This is both revolutionary and fascinating.

Also, we have the whole addiction to triptocaine part. They unfortunately had that in common - Jack even died for it. That brings a deep meaning to all the times we saw Norman fight against his addiction. The fact that he couldn't stop and was sure to die because of it. It's even more significant to know that his love died from it. It's awful and dramatic. But for the same reason, I think that it has - again - a huge potential. A story about their common addiction and how they deal with it would be amazing.

It deserves to exist, really. Oh, and of course, Jack also deserves to survive. I want to see Norman and him happy together. Our poor FBI guy wasn't very lucky until now, so it has to change. I'm not sure that I couldn't support anything else ahah.
