Batkids play a game called "Never have you ever" where Duke gazes into their timelines in the multiverse and tells them two made-up things and one that happened in an else-word and they have to guess which is real

watched the harley quinn birds of prey movie and I did have a lot of fun. everyone except harley is an OC with dc character names, but Jurnee Smollett is so beautiful that I'm willing to forgive. should've been more roller derby though to really pander to the dyke audience (me)

Thursday, October 23rd - Domesticity // Vanilla
Friday, October 24th - Space // Underwater
Saturday, October 25th - Halloween Costumes // Date Night
Sunday, October 26th - Monster & Monster Hunter // Wedding
Purpose?
Continuing to celebrate the BartKon Renaissance in the modern era. Since the ship has historically been a rarepair since its conception in the 1990's, this fanweek acts as both a way to celebrate the BartKon narrative in DC Comics, as well as engage new fans in our small yet mighty collective.
Why should we participate in this?
Because you like BartKon. Because you saw fanfiction and fanart and shitposts, and decided you wanted to see what's poppin' in the BartKonosphere. All creators are welcome. Our romcom lovers, the darkfic connoisseurs, and of course, our smut specialists.
So how does it work?
The release date for fanworks is from Monday, the 20th of October through Sunday, the 26th of October, 2025.
You have over four months to write, draw, and create fanworks. On top of fanfiction and fanart, we also encourage meta, essays, ship manifestos, playlists, and poetry.
Please be courteous and treat each other with respect when engaging with fanworks and their creators. If you misbehave, I will be cursing you with gastrointestinal issues and toothaches for the rest of your life.
BartKon of ANY comic book universe is acceptable. If you want to spend the entire fanweek exploring Luthor-El and Bart because you love horrific love, then be my guest! If you want a crazed version of Bart to kidnap Kon from Gemworld, go for it! Let that imagination run WILD!!!
Both safe and not-safe-for-tunglr dot hell tropes are welcome. Just make sure that you post any Mature content on a landing page that doesn't restrict Mature content (like AO3). I don’t want anyone getting their blog banned. We cannot defeat our capitalist overlords, but we can definitely work around them.
This fanweek will not have a dedicated blog. These prompts are free for anyone to use. Because it is a non-traditional, non-monetized, and free-to-opt-in casual event, there will be no mods but moi, no advertising of paid services, and no ratings or participant restrictions. I will open a collection on AO3 in October for anyone who wants their work collated for this event.
In order to ensure that both creators and the audience are making informed decisions about what they engage with, all creators are encouraged to include triggers and any other squick warnings.
Please utilize the read-more function for fanworks that are longer than 250 words. We're tryna read yer stories, not get spammed with a wall of text. Please Be Courteous.
And last but not least - if you are engaging with any of the fanworks, reblog, reblog, reblog! Share the work with your followers. Comment on fics! Send all the love to the creators for crafting their masterpieces!!
What can I contribute?
Fanart (standalones, comic strips, etc.), fanfiction (one-shots, multichapter, etc.), fanmixes, gifsets, graphics, meme collections, fanvids, ship essays and meta, songifics, playlists, poetry, whatever your heart desires! Go wild!!!
Can I create/write not-safe-for-tunglr dot hell content?
Yes!!! All creators are encouraged to include triggers warnings, sub-genre specifications, and other warnings in their posts. I will not discourage you from writing your 16k Bart Goes Insane Over Kon fic, but please... Be Courteous and tag your fanworks appropriately so people can make an informed decision about what they're comfortable with engaging with.
What does (X) prompt mean?
Each day has two prompts!! You can either pick a prompt OR you can combine prompts in different ways. I challenge you to let your imagination run wild!
To reiterate, mainstream canon, Elsewords, and AU content is all acceptable! Creativity is key! Have fun!!!
Can I crackship/multiship/harem/OT3/polyam the characters?
No. It's literally BartKon Week. There's like six active fans left on this bitch of an earth. Don't do this to me :'<
Does this have a tag?
During release week, use the general “bartkon” and "konbart" tags to share your work with the wider BartKon fandom on tunglr. You can use whatever other tags you fancy. The best way to share, however, is to directly @ me so that I may reblog it.
I didn’t read a damn thing before this, Ava.
TL;DR: Over four months until the fanweek!!! For all fanwork creators out there, now’s the time to start thinking about what prompts you want to utilize for your creations. There are no creative restrictions, but I do ask that you follow these posting tips:
All fanfiction should be under a read-more.
Not-safe-for-tunglr fanwork should be LINKED to whatever landing site the content is being hosted on (Twitter, AO3, etc). This includes both fanfiction and fanart. I don’t want your blog getting flagged bc tunglr hates gay people.
Provide content warnings for all triggers, squicks, and sub-genres. Please list content warnings on your work but do not be discouraged in sharing your work. If a fancop gets on your ass, block them. If they keep bothering you, tell them their mom's a hoe.
You can participate as much as you want!! Maybe you only wanna create for one day? Cool! Maybe you’re an overachieving corporate clown insomniac like myself, and wanna create for every day of the week? Go for it!!!
The most important thing is to have fun :)
Closing Remarks
Like all my other events I host, this event, too, is entirely selfish. I've loved BartKon since I was a child when I was first introduced to it in the form of Bart/Clark on Smallville. Although I only recently came back to reading DC's mainline comics, BartKon still holds a special place in my heart even after all these years, and the few who still create and engage in their fanworks inspired me to host a little something-something for our small community.
Take your time, look through the prompts, and get your creative juices flowing! I will be sending out reminders until the go-live date.
For the people who showed interest during the initial interest check, I hope you're able to participate. To the people who hate me, your mom's a hoe. Thank you.

Hi Orla. I am ashamed to admit this even tho I have read all of Impulse but I need to know if I am wrong... I saw someone recently say that Bart and Wally were not actually related. Wally is related to Iris because he is her brother's son, Wally is her nephew, so Bart would be his cousin. How could they not be related or were people just talking about him not actually being Barry's son? Any help would be so appreciated!
Hello Anon,
Well. You're right if Wally and Iris were biologically related to each other, but they aren't!
Iris was adopted by the Wests as a child and she is originally from the 30th century herself. Thus, she does not have any biological tie to the Wests.
She is however still Wally's aunt, and he is her nephew, and they love each other very very much because blood =/= family.
So the other person is correct, Bart and Wally are not biologically related at all in the comics, but they are still absolutely cousins.
Note: Young Justice Animated had Wally and Bart be blatantly related to each other through Iris, but this is an elsewords story and it has absolutely ZERO influence on comic canon and thus does not count. I have no idea wtf was all going on in the CW so if they are related there too it's just an elseworlds.
Second Note: This is for the comics and the comics alone, no other form of media.

Hey, I went through many of your Oliver Queen posts despite never having read a comic about him, and now I really want to start. Which ones are your favourites/good ones to start with? I think he's about to become my favourite guy, but I want to cement it. Thanks!
nervously scrolling through my own blog to see if ive made one before so i dont have to use my brain (im so happy to know u became interested from my posts omg dadposting worked) (these are listed in order of release and like technically you can read them in said order if u want full context. but like. if one takes your fancy more than others go for it. comics are for fun not rules. i practically read them in reverse order when i first started lmfao)
Green Arrow: Year One, great origin story, great place to start, well written, in character, yippee
Green Lantern/Green Arrow old but gold, some of the most iconic green arrow stories out there, and pretty much the entire foundation for his characterisation (they are still very Of The Times though in some areas so proceed with caution) Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters + Green Arrow (1988) #1-75 darker themes, grittier setting, ollie and dinah both go through a lot, they own a flower shop together also thats fun. but, of course, a pretty long commitment, read just longbow hunters to get a feel of if you'd want to read grell's whole run Green Arrow: Quiver aka the first arc of green arrow (2001) yay u can meet mia thats so cool yippee also just a good story, the next couple arcs are also fun, when winick takes over the run i personally feel deep unadultered hatred for most of his choices but like. i still read all of it so. go wild (if u read this before any other stuff then some references will fly over your head but tldr omg ollie was dead now he isnt whaaaaat)
if you're looking for a good ongoing i would really recommend the current green arrow run from #18 onwards (you can read the stuff before but. unless you read ga stuff and get really into his family i. cant in good conscience recommend that shithole)
fun bonuses: green arrow: stranded cute lil elseword story where kid ollie gets stranded instead of adult ollie, surprisingly in character for a book aimed at like tweens
green arrow 80th anniversary special lots of ollie (+ family) oneshots, a few misses for me but mostly hits!

My cautious optimism over the new Gwenpool book is certainly fading...
I'm still intrigued by whatever story they intend to tell, but it doesn't look promising
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know Gwen has quite the experience with being written out of character, but Gwen saying she doesn't care about being retconned is either an insane amount of personal growth and acceptance that has happened since the last time we saw her, or it's just a complete misunderstanding of her character. So much of what she's been about is being scared of being retconned. I get characters need to grow, but there wasn't really any build up to this 180 in mentality.
Also this book just feels weird... it feels like an elsewords story, which it probably shouldn't be
Idk, I still wanna see where this goes, it's still Gwen, I'll still show up but I'm worried if this is poorly received that it's gonna be another long while till we see her again

Arcane did something fairly smart that i dont see many people talking about. Which is understandable, there was a lot.
But Arcane is, very cleverly, not a prequal. It's why we didnt get Cait's hat, or why characters who are supposed to be in the LOL game are dead or missing.
Arcane is, to borrow a term from comics, an Elsewords story. It sets up the LOL game itself as drawing its champions from the multiverse. So it's ok that Arcane doesnt match up to league lore. By doing this, they justified every skin, every possible team make up, everything the could ever do with the game, its just pulling a champion from a timeline with that skin or whatever as the default.
It's a very simple, very small thing that they didnt have to do. They could have told the story without the multiverse aspects, but they didn't. They made it an integral part of the story and thus, anything is possible, and everything is justified.

I’ve seen a few DickBabs shippers being already butthurt over the new DickKory variant cover by Jonboy Meyers 💀💀💀
Which is strange because DB is having a space that I think no other couple has ever had in DC, being together in every possible elseword. Besides, unfortunately, that's just a cover, if you read the comic Dick and Kory barely interact, it seems like they're not even friends.

Happy New Year, everyone!
My New Year's resolution? A whole bunch of new series' of posts for my blog that you'll be seeing starting here in 2025! Yes, in addition to the occasional Burn Him With Fire Hot Takes, Random Thoughts, Unpopular Opinions, and Anime Update posts (as well as infrequent meme posts and shit like Tier Ranking, One Villainous Scene, etc.), I'll be bringing to my Tumblr table posts of these classifications:
2020 Memories - 5 years ago was a catastrophic, world-shaking, life-changing year from Hell. I suspect this year may fit that bill too, so it's only natural that I should look back at that fated year every now and again for the memories and the helpful life tips it gave me.
Small Comforts - It's the little things in life that tend to give us the largest amount of pleasure, so I'll post about what they are for me.
Nostalgic Lookbacks - Literally anything from my past that I decide to re-engage with and indulge my nostalgia for. I gave fair warning.
Grading/Ranking Stories - About what you'd expect from that title.
Grading/Ranking Adaptations - Same as above, but for other medium adaptations.
Grading/Ranking Villains - Same as the above two, but for villains.
The Average Piece Of Junk - Oftentimes the average piece of junk, no matter how critically lambasted, will hold greater value than the criticism designated it as junk. I can explain which junk I personally enjoy despite the negative critical consensus, and why that is.
Chicken Soup For The Spirit - Spiritually uplifting words. values, ideals and lessons we all need as we navigate our way through Hell.
Fixer Upper Concept Pitches - Anything fictional I feel could've turned out significantly better and is in need of "fixing?" I lay out my pitches for what I feel ought to have been done to improve upon it.
Random Fanon/AU Stuff - Indulging in head fantasies just for funs.
Redemption Or Nah? - Redemption of villainous characters is a strangely ubiquitous and divisive subject on this hellsite, and I very well could have takes to give on whether or not I think a redemption arc for any such villains, whether canon's tried to or not, is feasible.
To The Unsung Heroes - I post about fairly obscure or secondary, even minor, characters and why I like them more than others might.
What If? Scenarios - "What If?" "Elsewords", whatever you want to call it, you know the concept. They're just fun to come up with, OK?

@lesbianbarbaragordon Batman: The Ultimate Evil is one of my favorite Martha Wayne centered stories, mainly because she impacts both Bruce, his character growth, and the actual story so much without actually being there. you should 100% read this if you want a good grasp of Martha’s character. Batman: Family (v2) isn’t as focused on her (she’s only briefly mentioned in issue 1, 7, and 8) but she’s still extremely important in the progression of the story. Also it’s just a great read anyways, it takes place after No Man’s Land so a lot of different characters are in it. Batman: legends of the dark knight (Halloween special 2) shows Martha influencing the way Bruce thinks and reacts to his trauma in a way I think is very notable to both her and Bruce. Batman: Death and the Maidens is more centered around Bruce and his current/developing relationships and conflicts with the Al Ghul family (with a main focus on Nyssa, Ra’s, and Talia) then it is with his parents, but his mother is prevalent in issues 1, 4, and 5. Thomas also shows up in issue 6-7 but be warned, he kind of sucks. Batman: the Return of Bruce Wayne, issue #5 is an elseworld where Martha Wayne is murdered, and Bruce is the detective who attempts to figure out who did it. You don’t actually have to read this to understand who Martha was as a person because it has nothing to do with the main continuity, but she does technically build the story Bruce works in. (I’m not gonna include any more elsewords, just wanted to put this one here because it talks about Martha’s family.) In Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?, Martha Wayne appears during Batman’s final moments. There isn’t much about specifically her outside of Bruce’s childhood, but I do think it means something about how Batman imagined his mother of all people when he was dying. Also, it’s just a great read in my opinion :) unfortunately I don’t know any other stories where Martha Waynes actual life is explored outside of small references or straight up hallucinations or out-of-body experiences, but she does make many small appearances that further explain who she was as a person. I’ll just put them here so people don’t have to read entire storylines just for like one panel of Martha.

theres way way more than just these btw. the great thing about being famously, mysteriously dead for centuries is that people still remember and talk about you a lot :)
I think the correlation between batman and his mother needs to be talked about more. they both devoted their lives to fighting crime with a whole secret identity. and they were both willing to die for it, and one of them did in the end. both of them are established to be mentally ill in some capacity. both of them generally had the same interests. they were both seen as dumber and simpler in the public eye (Martha being “just a housewife” and Bruce being just a himbo playboy) both considered Alfred to be their safe person, the one person they could talk to about anything. they both have the same handwriting for gods sake. Martha isn’t brought up a lot in comics unless it directly correlates with batman himself, but when she does, she is literally his carbon copy. hello does anyone hear this.
