Life tips from Jason Todd!
Angela: Angela Ito here, reporting live in Gotham with Red Hood and Batman, heroes who have saved the day, yet again! Heroes, do you have anything you'd like to say?
Red Hood: Can I give some advice? Some lessons for life, you know?
Angela: Tips from a hero? That sounds perfect! Go ahead.
Angela held up the microphone in front of Red Hood. Batman tried to intervene, knowing this was about to go sideways, but Red Hood shoved him aside and cleared his throat.
Red Hood (into the microphone): Kill everyone now! Condone first-degree murder! Advocate cannibalism! Eat Shit!
The group fell silent, aside from Batman’s disappointed dad groan. Angela's jaw dropped too stunned to speak and from her reaction Batman could tell the studio reporters were laughing. After a beat, a tourist couple, holding giant pretzels, walked into frame.
Tourist Lady: Now see, that makes sense, minus the last two.
Tourist Guy: Yeah! Judge Dredd punishments!
Nearby, a young woman cheered loudly.
Young Woman: WOO! I’D FOLLOW THAT MAN TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH!
Nearby Man: Me too!
Tourist Lady (fawning): Is he single?
Red Hood gripped the microphone tighter.
Red Hood: Sorry, ladies, I’m taken. And another thing—
Angela (yanking her microphone away): Ah, ah! That’s enough! The day is saved by Batman and his babo, back to Chip and Skylar in the studio.
Angela swiped a finger under her neck to cut the feed. The cameraman nodded quickly, giving a thumbs-up. Angela shot a sharp glare at Red Hood and Batman.
Batman: He did that to annoy me, I’m sorry.
Angela (Bronx accent): You’re forgiven, Red Hood. If ya want to mess with your dad, do it, but not on my time! I already have three freaking kids giving me migraines. Kids today are so immature when it’s time to be serious!
Angela stormed off, muttering curses in Korean. Batman nodded in agreement.
Batman (scolding his son): Pink Flamingos? Seriously?
Red Hood (prideful): I’ve been wanting to use that for three years, and I finally got to. Hey, you should try dating her. Hopefully that relationship doesn’t fail.
Cameraman (shy voice): That… she’s my wife.
Red Hood: That won’t stop him- Ow!
Batman slapped his son on the back of the head, about to ground his son.
Batman: I’m with Catwoman, and a faithful man!
Red Hood: Yeah, but she’s out of your league. Angela is too, but worth a shot.
Batman: Go to the car, and you, camera guy, you better not be recording this!
Cameraman (grinning as he records): Oh, come on, it’s for the blooper reel.
Batman shook his head and grabbed Red Hood by his jacket collar.

Ever since moving to Amazon Lily, Thea has started picking up on archery like the other Amazons. Hestia is not only a cherished companion, she's an incredible bow for regular arrows and Love-Love Arrows alike.
Talking of which, Thea is intent on playing Cupid this Valentine's Day but so far everybody she shoots with her Love-Love arrows just gets petrified which is not the point for today! 😤 The only other alternative is haki arrows which don't do anything except make people scream when they get hit in the butt. Funny, but not very Cupid-y
(Insert ‘Why is everyone so afraid of love’ vine here)
Thea's pretty beaten up by these consistent failures of hers! She was trying to spread love across the seas but everyone either turns to stone or turns away to run! So not cool! How come nobody wanted to follow her vision?!
She decides to *gasp* ask the boys for help and they are all as unhelpful as expected. The most unhelpful advice consisted of Ashken saying he’d he make her ‘love bombs’ to throw at people which when thrown melted a wall and Monty claiming that throwing chocolate would be both romantic (cause they’d be heart-shaped) and delicious! This is what she gets for asking boys for help on matters of the heart.
They all discuss her options until Lami (who while listening was also nose deep in a biology textbook) suggested just getting trick arrows which sounded perfect! Not that Thea knew where to get trick arrows but she knew someone who could make some!
A quick trip to the Thousand Sunny with a highlighted stop at Franky's workshop, the cyborg and his tinkerer sniper friend had whipped up some suction-cup (they didn’t want her to go around hurting people after all) trick arrows for her! Chock full of valentines surprise-y goodness, like heart shaped confetti, valentine cards, and sappy messages! She thank them profusely before flying off at the speed of light, she was going to make Eros weep with how great she was at being the messenger of love!

I think it’s a pretty good funny bit for the Skeleton to switch to a living bird icon in Scary month
truthfully, it was completely coincidental that Gelato's been my icon this entire month, but i gotta admit. it's a pretty funny juxtaposition for me to do it during this month in specific.

series masterlist
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It’s been exactly two weeks since she came to terms with the fact that she’s in love with him.
She hasn’t been able to sleep all that well and has tried her very best to avoid Rafe, albeit fruitlessly since he insists on driving her home every day and on top of that, often invites himself over or asks her to stay the night at his— not accepting her excuses about being tired and having to wake up early.
“Why don’t we jus’…be tired ‘n wake up early together then?” his grin is playful. And how is she meant to refuse that?
And if everything he does wasn’t already suffocating her enough, he’s now helping with the renovation of the cafe since her boss wanted to expand the business; turn the small coffee shop into a bigger one in hopes of more space for new tables and seats, because the amount of clients they got was beginning to be too much for everyone to comfortably enjoy their stay.
Therefore, she now has to work in the same building as him every single day because (unfortunately) the renovation work isn’t disturbing the current cafe from running nor decreasing the number of customers with a sweet tooth or a craving for their usual morning coffee.
And none of this would be a problem, if Rafe wasn’t walking around all sweaty and dusty, biceps bulging whenever he’d lift wooden planks over his shoulder or carry around different equipment— looking as attractive as ever.
And with these newfound lovey-dovey feelings trying to break through the surface, she doesn’t know how she’s supposed to stop herself from ogling him or keep her rapid heartbeats to herself whenever he wanders over for a chat on his breaks. She tries to act as normal as she can, but she can tell that he’s starting to pick up on her excessive rambling and stuttering, flushed cheeks and anxious fingers fixing her hair every two seconds whenever he’s talking to her.
In fact, she’s certain he can see right through her, knows that she’s hiding something. She can practically see how he wants to bring it up more often than not, but seemingly hasn’t found the right way to approach the subject yet, and she can sense that she’s running out of time— can’t tolerate lying to him for much longer.
She’s been thinking this whole thing through over and over again, to the point of her head hurting while she bakes Rafe’s favorite lemon raspberry cookies as a distraction and because he’s been working so hard she wants to surprise him; see the soft smile that makes the whole world glitter whenever he graces her with it.
And she wants to tell him, wants him to know how deeply she feels for him; how much she appreciates him but every time she tries to open her mouth, the words seem to evaporate before they’ve even begun to sprout on her nervous tongue.
Because what if he doesn’t feel the same way? What if this is all just a casual thing for him and she’s making it into something more than it is? These bleak thoughts turn her mood sour— a pout forming on her lips as she concentrates on topping the flamingo pink icing with fresh blueberries, adding the final touches to their most popular vanilla cupcakes.
And as she’s taking Rafe’s cookies out the oven, she comes to the conclusion that she really only has two options; she either tells him or she doesn’t.
If she tells him, there’s a very high possibility that he looks at her with a crease between his brows and words about not wanting for this to be anything serious hitting her against the face. And if she doesn’t, then…well she doesn’t really have anything to lose, does she? Except maybe the what ifs haunting her for the rest of eternity.
She tries to get rid of the tormenting thoughts with a shake of her head as she sets the cookies off to cool down, and begins to place the finished cupcakes onto the display counter, trying her hardest to just forget about it all.
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Later that day, when Rafe is contently munching on the cookies she plated for him and happily distracting her from work, someone approaches the counter; a girl with glossy lips and shiny hair.
“Hi! Could I please get a mango matcha latte?” her eyes are as green as grass as she places her order.
“Of course, would you like it with ice or no ice?”
“With ice, please.”
“Coming right up,” she gives the girl a polite smile when her payment goes through.
“You’re working on the renovation?” the girl’s attention then turns towards Rafe, making Y/N’s gaze flicker over to them as she puts blended mango into the bottom of a tall glass.
“Yeah, the cafe’s gon’ be twice as big as it’s now,” he drawls, putting the half-eaten baked good down.
“That’s so cool. You know, I’ve always wondered how construction workers are so strong. Do you go to the gym a lot?” a saccharine voice reaches Y/N’s ears, making her brows furrow while she measures the right amount of matcha powder, trying to appear nonchalant.
“Uh, yeah, yeah, also think m’workdays sometimes count as workouts,” he scratches the back of his head as she lets out a giggle. It wasn’t that funny, Y/N thinks with a roll of her eyes.
“Hey, I was actually wondering if maybe you’d wanna hang out sometime? Could give you my number?”
Something muddy swirls in her stomach in response to the girl’s straightforward question. She doesn’t particularly appreciate the fact that she’s blatantly hitting on Rafe right in front of her, even if she’s painfully aware that they’re not together and the girl probably assumed they were just friends, which they are.
However, she can’t prevent herself from turning grumpy from the mere notion of him being interested in someone else. After all, the girl is stunning and she wouldn’t really blame him if he wanted to at least consider her offer.
“Uh, m’actually not available right now,” he offers an apologetic smile when the girl’s shoulders slump.
“No? That’s a shame. Well, let me know when that changes?” she gives him a flirty smile that makes Y/N quietly scoff as she pours the milk into the mix.
“S’not changing anytime soon,” she mutters under her breath, making both of their heads turn towards her.
Fuck, did she really say that out loud?
“Sorry?” the girl asks, muted jade settling on her suddenly tense form.
“Oh, um— jus’ that…here’s your drink,” she peeps out in her state of embarrassment, feeling Rafe’s eyes burning into the side of her face as she sticks a paper straw into the beverage; the ice cubes clinking together when she hands it out to her.
“Right, thanks,” she says before looking over to Rafe once more, seemingly expecting him to give her an answer of his own.
“Uh…yeah, what she said. Not changin’ anytime soon,” his grin is wide, making the girl’s cheeks flush.
And when it’s just the two of them again, she flits her eyes down— busying herself with a wooden container of tea bags she’s trying to organize, unable to face him.
“What was, uh…what was that about?” his tone is taunting, an annoying smirk playing on his features.
“Nothing,” she quickly dismisses, avoiding his gaze.
“Nothin’? You’re tellin’ me you weren’t just real fuckin’ jealous two seconds ago?”
“N—no,” she can’t even convince herself with the pitiful denial.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart, m’all yours, alright?” he chuckles as he stuffs the rest of the cookie into his mouth.
“How did you know I jus’ was cravin’ these?” he asks around the mouthful as she tries to brush aside the sudden tingle in her ribcage.
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
A few days later, when her shift is coming to an end, her other coworker already beginning to take orders and telling her she’s free to go, she drags Rafe behind the counter and practically forces him to taste test a new recipe she’s tried out; a walnut carrot cake with lime buttercream.
“Wow, this is…amazing. The sourness in the frosting is so good,” his voice is muffled by his chewing and her heart warms in response to his commentary, never one to shy away from showering her in compliments.
“You think so? I actually added the lime jus’ cause I know how much you like citrus fruits so, m’really glad you like it,” she beams at him.
“Yeah? Made this jus’ for me, huh? Can I ask why m’gettin’ this special treatment all of a sudden?” his tone is playful, tongue licking over his bottom lip to clean up the bit of icing lingering there.
“Well, cause I love you and—” she blurts out before her entire body tenses; mouth hanging open in shock and wide eyes slowly moving to look at him, trying to verify whether he heard it or not. Of course he did. She wasn’t exactly quiet now, was she?
“You…you love me?” he raises his brows in surprise.
“Uh…I— I didn’t mean to…I mean, you probably don’t feel the same so doesn’t really matter. Just— um...jus’ forget I said that. I don’t know why I—”
“What are you talkin’ about? You think I spend most of my time with you cause I…what? Dislike you? You can be so silly sometimes, you know?” he scoffs, setting the golden fork down on the porcelain plate.
She stays silent.
“What I’m sayin’ is that m’obsessed with you. I mean, you’re even in my fuckin’ dreams, right? But listen, love has always been a little, uh, tricky for me cause m’relationship with my family has always been, uh, complicated? But if me wantin’ to spend every second of my day with you means I love you too, then, shit, maybe I do. But I need some time before I can really say that shit, you get that?” his words are honest and raw and she thinks her rattling heart is going to beat out of her chest.
“I— um…yeah, of course. Take all the time you need,” she finally manages out.
“Hey, c’mere,” he says before he’s practically dragging her dumbfounded form into his embrace; — beefy arms pulling her flush against his chest.
“I mean, we’re basically already datin’ at this point, no? Wasn’t sure how to make it official without freakin’ you out but since you love me, think you’re all good, yeah?”
She mumbles something incoherent in response.
“So wanna be my little girlfriend or what?” he murmurs into her hair.
“I— of course I do,” she speaks against his shirt.
“Yeah?”
“Mhm,” she hums before he tucks an index finger under her chin and lifts her face to look up at him—his thumb toying with her bottom lip before he’s leaning down and smearing a sloppy kiss against her mouth.
“Shit, you’re so adorable, jus’ wanna swallow you whole sometimes,” he murmurs with a soft smile tugging at his lips and eyes twinkling with something syrupy in them.
“I love you,” she mumbles, almost inaudible; words still too tender to consciously say out loud.
“Say it again,” he practically demands.
“Um…I love you,” her voice is nearly a whisper.
“What was that? Think you can say it a little louder?” he teases.
“Rafe, stop…you’re embarrassing me,” she whines, cheeks heating up.
“No, m’not. Jus’ wanna hear you say it,” his smirk is all big and smug and it makes her huff.
“ILOVEYOU, okay?” the words mesh together like fluffy clouds in the sky and her volume is louder than he’s probably ever heard it, causing a couple of curious heads to turn and the lively chatter around them to quiet down some.
“Yeah? You guys heard that? She LOVES me,” he’s nearly shouting, looking around with a stupid grin on his face— making her flush and hide behind her hands as a few customers cheerfully titter in entertainment.
“Congrats, dude!” someone even yells.
“Oh my god, Rafe. Why would you do that?” her mortified eyes widen as she crouches down; trying to find shelter behind the pale-yellow counter. “M’never leaving my house again,” she complains with a glare.
However, he doesn’t seem all that bothered by the whole thing, simply chuckling with dimples denting his cheeks— the light-hearted sound making her stomach flutter despite the humiliation crawling up her spine and making her want to vanish into the cracks on the floorboards.
“Of course you are, m’your boyfriend now which means m’takin’ you out on a date tomorrow, yeah?” he lifts her up with a grip on her waist, pulling her flush against him while his fingertips slip underneath the hem of her shirt, smoothing over her bare stomach and making her let out a squeak.
Then, he’s grasping her jaw in one hand and pressing his mouth on hers again— her protests withering away like a dead rose when he slips his tongue past the seam of her lips, dragging out an involuntary whimper from her, before she pulls away and hides her face in his chest when she feels multiple pairs of eyes staring at them.
“Rafe, can we just go already?” she pleads, voice small before he’s guiding her out of the coffee shop; his hand resting on the small of her back and calming her down some.
And despite the little scene he caused, she thinks she might just be the happiest girl on the island as he helps her climb into his truck with a honeyed kiss warming the apple of her cheek.

Insatiable
AN: No one asked for this but the Butcher brain rot is crazy and i can't stop myself. Alas, I couldn't resist so welcome to the madness. Anyway, I went insane and absolutely wrote a devoted piece to this man. Jesus help me.
Warnings: dub-con (use of sex pollen-ish mind control), smut, fingering, language, and Butcher is a warning in and of itself.
MINORS DNI Below the cut
Tumblr media
"I'm not wearing any underwear."
The admonition echoed in the habitat of Butcher's Cadillac like a bird's call. Even the sound of leather on leather, as the man sitting beside you slowly turned to examine you, wasn't loud enough to get the stupid ringing out of your head.
This had all started off like a bad scab you thought was healed but wasn't, and now it was bleeding all over your favorite pink pull.
Hughie and MM had uncovered a rightful piece of Temp V hideout; a Supe's mansion on the Upper East Side who, just happened, to be throwing one of his renowned "XXXchange" parties for Supes and their pets (this was how it was described on the e-vite MM hacked).
This Supe, still unknown to everyone because he kept the mansion under a random woman's name, was supposedly a Seven-in-the-making, as Hughie put it. If he could prove himself, he was next in line for a comfy beige seat in the Tower. So hence, him keeping and distributing Temp V to teens and young adults who didn't know any better.
So what had been Hughie's grand ol' plan? Bring you in. As the newest Supe member of The Boys, no one had yet seen your face. No one even knew of you. You were a low-level "barely considerable" Supe...as Butcher had put it the first time he blew the hinges off your front door.
Your power wasn't really a - well, a power at all. It was mostly an advancement, an intellectual add-on, or a sixth sense. You could read lies. More coherently, because someone with a beard and a giant stick up his ass didn't understand correctly--you could tell when someone was lying.
You weren't really an attribute to the team when it came to brute force. You left that up to Annie and Kimiko. But you had your perks, and since you were still under Vought's radar, you could slip through the cracks and get intel for the Boys.
Now why was Butcher with you, the most notorious Boys' member? Well, one might say he was eager to see your 2-hour fight training in practice, but really, it was because he "didn't trust a dumb twat with highly sensitive information and tech". His words.
So he'd garnished a Tommy Bahama blouse with pink flamingoes and palm trees and a matching set of swim shorts, sunglasses, and a stupid bright pink bucket hat that was way too small for his big ass head.
And now here both of y'all were, headed to the Upper East Side, dressed like a hooker and a pimp. Annie had insisted on this get up, a tiny, tiny pink skirt, a white bikini top, and a pink cover up with flip flops to finish off this fucking look. Because apparently, no one would let you in if you weren't A) a Supe and B) not dressed like a House Bunny.
"So you're tellin' me," Butcher drawled as the New York skyline darkened, "that your bare pussy is suction-cupping my leather seats?"
You crossed your arms. "I'm sitting at an angle."
Butcher slapped the wheel. "You should've told me earlier!" he laughed. You frowned in return when he swivelled that giant head of his towards you. "Come now, if you're not wearing panties, why should I, eh?"
"You wear panties?"
He hummed, regaining control of the road as the car slipped passed the last townhouse to enter Mansion Ville.
"I like you, little Truthteller," he mumbled to himself. "Thought you were a bit worthless at first, but you might just prove yourself tonight!"
You didn't dare answer the last bit, instead focusing on the details Annie and Hughie gave you before you flip-flopped your way into Butcher's passenger seat (and did absolutely not suction-cup his leather seats).
The idea was to go in and place a few bugs in and around the mansion in key locations. You could try to figure out who the Supe was or even find out where he stashed his V, but it didn't matter. The Boys would find out over the bugs.
The mansion Butcher parked the Caddie in front of was like a cookie-cutter version of the 90s PlayBoy mansion.
"Alright, love," Butcher sighed, killing the engine and stepping out, rounding the nose of the car to open the door for you. "Give 'em a nice peek of that minge, eh?"
You blushed from head to toe, a torment of fire assaulting your skin until Butcher caught on and chuckled low in his chest, helping you step out the car with his hand.
You still hadn't gotten used to the crass words that could tumble out of his mouth like vomit.
He guided you to the entrance, where a man dressed in black boxers and a black neck tie asked for your invite number, which you recited from the one Hughie gave you.
Then he asked, "And which is Supe and which is pet?"
You blushed even hotter. "Um." Your throat got sticky and dry all at once. "I'm the Supe and he's my... um, he's my-"
"Her pet," Butcher interrupted with a wide smile, the sunglasses hiding the glint in his eye that was surely showing. That ridiculous bucket hat made him look almost two heads taller than you as he bent down to whisper in your ear, "bark, bark."
You groaned inwardly as you lead him into the foyer, where a sprawling staircase lead to a mezzanine and a mahogany banister and a wide archway gave way to a mess of bodies in the living room.
"Oh my God," you mumbled, turning away from the onslaught of legs and arms and slithering bodies like a pile of snakes.
"Oh, nuh-uh," Butcher chuckled, grabbing you by the shoulders, steering you right into the mass of party-goers, moaning and groaning and thrusting into one another or bouncing on top of each other like mad dogs. "If you want to play the part, you have to look the part." His mouth was right next to your ear, and for some reason, the breath caressing your skin sent a slowly gliding shiver down your spine.
Why was this happening?
You felt the flesh melt where his fingers lay, clutching at your shoulders, pulling your coverup off of you.
"Butcher," you said, stopping his hand.
He shook his head. "Show them what you got, mama," he whispered again, the rough of his beard tracing against your cheek. He scooped the coverup off your shoulders and threw it across the room, leaving you in your bikini top.
Butcher had never seen you so exposed before. You'd always worn pants and t-shirts around the safe house, so watching all that bare skin available to his hungry eyes flipped a switch in his head.
A woman, tall and elegant, cream skin and sultry black eyes, approached you before Butcher could do something stupid. He straightened up, lifting the sunglasses from his nose.
"Miss, look at you," he cooed.
Miss was naked. Someone had left a bite mark on her right breast, just above her peaked nipple. She was so long-limbed and beautiful, and the sight of her naked body made you turn away instinctively.
"I like you," she said, voice low and husky, like a purr.
"I like you too, sweetheart," Butcher answered, the heat of his body completely leaving you as he zeroed in all his attention on the naked, wanting lady before you.
She huffed. "You're great too," she answered, and when you turned, her lascivious brown eyes were settled on you. "But it's her that I want."
Butcher gasped and then erupted in laughter, taking the bucket hat off his head and putting it to his heart. "Woah, I never imagined I'd see this in my lifetime."
The other woman smiled slowly and you gulped. She was pretty, but she was also not part of the mission.
So you back-peddled.
You put a delicate hand to Butcher's arm, digging your nails into his skin, and put on a lovely, sweet smile for the offering girl. "That's nice of you," you said, voice sultry like a wet candy cane. "But we're more interested in watching." As you said this, you dropped into your act as best you could, mustering up the strength not to blush but to play the part of the sex-obsessed Supe.
She brightened up at this, gesturing to Butcher. "Well I could fuck him while you watch," she suggested.
Butcher's body tensed up against you and he turned to you. "Please say yes," he mumbled.
You smiled, throwing him a glance. "Both of us are watchers," you corrected, watching as she bowed her head, a lustrous gleam in her eye.
"It would've been a pleasure," she said before walking away.
When she was climbing onto another woman's lap, Butcher grabbed your bicep and brought you into a corner, sheltered in the dim lighting of the room, smothered under the moans and groans and the sloppy sounds of...intercourse.
"You were this close to fulfilling a fantasy of mine," he groaned, and when you looked up, he looked more angry than turned on.
"We're not here so I can watch you have sex with a woman, asshole!" you gritted between your teeth. ''We're here to plant bugs and find some V."
He huffed, rearranging his Tommy Bahama. "I'm obeying just because you're wearing this outfit," he grumbled, following you as you led them into the next room.
A kitchen, stock full with boxes of canned beverages and food platters.
"Okay, here." You pointed to the dinner table in the adjacent room, a teakwood marvel that surely housed a few meetings or two.
Butcher expertly placed a bug under the table.
You meandered safely through the house, planting bugs in various living rooms, meeting rooms, and spare bedrooms. Whenever some couple or lone masturbator dedicated their attention to you both, you pretended to watch, Butcher enlacing you in his arms.
It's only then you noticed how tall, how big this man was. He was easily dwarfing you by just standing there, your head against his chest, his fingers drawing lazy circles against your exposed spine.
When the onlookers would pass, he'd chuckle as you pushed him away like he was a booger wall.
But the more you traveled in the house, the more people seemed to stare, wanting, questioning. So you ended up holding Butcher's hand, at his command: "Wouldn't want the lovely ladies stealing you away, eh?"
And hand holding turned into his arm around your shoulders, the tip of his very long fingers ghosting your breast.
"Let's go upstairs," he whispered in your ear once he'd bugged up the toilet.
"Ew, no."
He sucked his teeth. "I mean," he gritted, pushing you up against a wall when a man with a considerably large strap on made his way towards you. Butcher bent down, squeezing the breath from your lungs as he grazed his mouth on your bare shoulder. He pressed a featherlight kiss, all while observing the passing man, dragging his lips up to your ear. "We should go bug up the rooms, eh? Maybe see if we can find this cunt's V supply?"
You nodded, a wicked shiver pebbling your flesh.
Butcher blew cold breath onto the thin line of saliva he'd left on your skin. "Cold?"
You swallowed hard. "Let's just go."
He chuckled as you grabebd his hand and led him back to the stairs, galloping up to the second floor.
Truth is, you'd never imagined Butcher like this. He was so arrogant and he loved to make people jump out of their skins by how uncomfortable they were with him, but you'd chopped it up to the old chip on the block; Butcher pushing people away to keep himself safe.
So when the Boys had initiated you, you'd figured it'd be best to steer clear from this tyrant of a man. He was way older than you anyway, and he was always calling you every name in the book except your government given one. And he was always dismissing your ideas, so you'd always assumed he had an image of an immature little girl in his head.
But he'd dreamed of you more times than he cared to count. The messed up parts of his brain, where most of it was left behind in his old life, conjured up hauntings of you every night. Of those soft, plump lips whenever you'd eat cherries. Of your legs in your pajama shorts and your giggle when Kimiko signed something stupid. Of that perfect little body of yours.
"Okay, in here." You interrupted his chain of thought, the one that was going to crash into a puddle brains that would eventually leak out of his ear.
You lead him into a room, which turned out to be some kind of antechamber with a hearth and a giant portrait of a small, bald man.
"He looks like a mouse," you muttered.
But Butcher froze, tearing his hand away from yours. "Oh, fuck me," he groaned, putting his sunglasses and hat onto the low table. "That's the fucking Seducer."
Your skin crawled. You turned, examined Butcher's expression as he leaned against the far wall. "This cum guzzler is the one trafficking V?" he thought to himself, just as you asked, "who's the Seducer?"
Butcher turned to examine you across the room, lit by a few lights in the sconces. "He's the world's number 1 date raper," he answered, frowning. "This guy can intoxicate the female species into a mad heat, like dogs."
"What?" You frowned.
Butcher walked a bit closer, turning his head to watch you out of one eye, like a bird. "Yeah, he secrets this hormone on a whim and boom, bitches go mad for his dick."
"Oh." You swallowed, turned to push the handle of another door, leading to a darkened room fit for a king. "I think this is his room."
Butcher muttered behind you, "Lucky guy if you ask me."
"Trouble getting women, Butcher?" you asked absentmindedly as you entered the dark room, lights from the lawn outside filtering milky-white through the windows, illuminating your path like a trail of snow.
Butcher followed, closing the door behind you. "Not really," he answered, immediately pulling cubbards and drawers open. "The ladies love me."
"Oh, yeah I bet," you muttered, pulling open the wardrobe. A loose floorboard creaked loudly and you froze, turning to meet Butcher's eye.
He scrambled to where you stood, pressing on the floor and repeating the awful creaking sound.
"Pants jizzer must be keeping the V under his floor," he mumbled, pressing until at least 6 floorboards rose from the ground on one end, a whole door to the underside of the Seducer's floor.
"Bingo," you giggled, helping Butcher pull the damn thing open. But there was nothing there, only an empty black space that could've fit maybe two people, gaping at you like a dark maw. "He must have transfered them," you whispered.
"Or he's trafficking other things," Butcher replied darkly.
Just as you were about to close the floorboards, a loud thud rang out in the antechamber. You froze, listening, until a feminine giggle made you and Butcher lock eyes.
"Get in," he whispered, motioning to the black pit under your knees.
"In here!?" you whispered tightly.
Whoever was on the other side was making their way towards the room, painstakingly, and this was not the place you and Butcher needed to be found.
"Yes, fuck, get in," he insisted, and your heart thudded so loudly, so harshly against your throat you thought it would burst right out through your chest.
Shaking, you got into the little space, falling onto your back because you couldn't see where this thing ended. As soon as you got your hair out of your eyes, Butcher was tumbling onto you, closing the floorboards a millisecond before the bedroom door burst open.
Sound was immediately muffled, like being underwater, and the only thing you could hear was your breathing. Butcher's breathing over you. Your heart in your throat, nauseating you, the adrenaline rushing like a flood in your veins.
Butcher's chest heaving against yours, the entire length of him pressed up on you like a heavy blanket.
"Get off," you whispered, feeling the heat of his forearm next to your head.
"There's no space," he grumbled, his voice catching on your cheek, your neck, as he tried to maneuver himself every which way that meant he wasn't pressed up on you, but he was just so damn big, like hiding with a grizzly bear, that whenever he tried to move, he just ended up being half on and half off you.
"Fuck it," he grumbled, pressing one hand under your thigh, wrenching a gasp from your throat as he placed himself comfortably between your legs.
The pressure of him on your bare bottom half made you freeze, heart hammering like an angry drum against your ribcage. The way you were positioned, thighs wide open, knees bent each side of his waist, made the skimpy little skirt bundle up onto your tummy, leaving you completely bare.
"Hush up, little thing," Butcher whispered in your ear, holding himself up on his forearms as not to crush the breath out of you. But his voice was wretched, pulled and tight, no doubt reacting to the heat he could feel through the thin fabric of his swim shorts.
The noise overhead intensified; a moan, a few garbled words, thudding.
"They're going to do it while he lie here," you whispered, hands balled up by your sides.
Butcher chuckled silently, breath fanning your neck. "So we really are voyeurs."
You smiled, holding back a giggle until a heavy thud caught your attention and the voices suddenly got a bit clearer. They were right over you.
A woman's voice floated through. "How ever I can serve you, Seducer."
The last word made your insides coil in fear. It looked like this woman was answering a command from the Seducer himself, the man who owned this house, who trafficked all the V and worked with Vought.
"Fuck," Butcher muttered. "This is worse than I thought."
"Why?" you asked silently, your fingers trembling against your thighs.
You felt him bend forward, his body tight like a rod. "This is going to hurt, love."
And just as you were about to ask what he was about to do, a soft pang echoed in your lower belly, like someone had tied a rope to your bellybutton and pulled. You squirmed, the thudding overhead leading back to the bed.
The pulling again, making you heave in a breath, squeeze your eyes shut. "No, no, no," you muttered, feeling an ache build between your legs, a force pull through your veins like molten honey.
The Seducer was using his power. And it wasn't just affecting the woman he was with... it was starting to affect you.
You felt yourself clench on nothing but air when the ache throbbed against your clit, like an invisible vacuum seal had closed over it, and you lifted your hips off the floor slightly.
Butcher immediately grabbed your hip, bringing you back down forcibly, sending a new wave of heat, of ache, of hurt through your body just at the touch of his bare fingers on your bare hip.
"Don't," he breathed, his word clipped. "Don't do that."
He could feel the heat of you through his shorts, just how impossibly hot you were, probably dripping from the Seducer's power, and the little control he exhibited around you was pulling quite taut.
"It hurts, Butcher," you gritted through your teeth, hands settling on his shoulders for support as another wave of need, of painful, painful need, throbbed through your body like a pulsing nuclear explosion. Your legs tightened around his waist, nails digging into the fabric of his Tommy Bahama. "Make it stop," you pleaded, heaving, throwing your head back, bucking your hips to get the pain to stop. Just stop.
Butcher huffed, cradling your face, his insides in turmoil with his brain. God had given him such a gift right now, a chance to take you, mark you as his, finally fuck that perfect little body--and he didn't know if he was man enough to stop himself.
You groaned in pain, subconsciously grinding your bare pussy against his thigh, searching for any kind of friction, of relief. Your skin was so hot, sweat beading your forehead as you braced through another wave of this unknown ache, throbbing relentlessly against your clit, deep inside you, just grazing your g-spot.
Your fingers balled into fists against his shirt, your face finding his chest, and you sobbed, "Make it stop, Butcher, please, it hurts."
You weren't aware that your hips had started grinding against his thigh, the knee he'd placed between your legs for leverage. And just the fact that he could feel his shorts getting soaked had him straining against the stitches of his sanity.
"There's only one way," he breathed against your ear. You sobbed, heaving, breathing raggedly, grinding so hard on his knee it was almost pathetic. "Are you sure you want to try?" he asked, voice trembling.
You sniffed, hung onto his neck for dear life. "Please, anything, this is--ah--this is unbearable."
He bent his head, mumbled for God to forgive him, and then pressed a deep, hard kiss on your lips, pressing you back into the floor completely. Somewhere above him, he heard a woman moan loudly, but the only thing that registered to him was the way you clung to him like a pawing animal.
A strangled moan, quiet and restrained, left your throat, caught behind your teeth as he ravaged your mouth.
"N-no," you mumbled. "No."
He pulled away, kissing your jaw, your neck until your were humping his thigh like a woman gone mad.
"This the only way, little Truthteller," he murmured in your ear, dragging his knee away and feeling your entire body go stiff against him.
A whine, like delicious music, lifted to his ear and he groaned inwardly. He had to convince himself he was doing it for you, but half of him was delighted at the idea of finally having you. Like a meal he'd been mouth-watering over for some time, and now it was fresh and warm right in front of him.
"I need," you muttered, groaning through another wave of the Seducer's power, your hips bucking into nothing. "I need..."
"You need to cum, little dove," Butcher whispered, caressing the side of your face and you shook your head.
"No."
"Yes, love," he muttered, tracing the line of your neck, down your chest until he softly cupped your breast.
A quiet moan rippled along your throat like a symphony to his ears. He played with your hard nipple through the fabric until he pushed it aside and replaced his thumb with the warmth of his mouth.
"Fuck," you whispered, pushing against his shoulders. "This is wrong." Your voice was so thin.
Butcher lapped at your nipple like an ice cream cone. "Want me to do this to your pretty little pussy?" he mumbled, and the crass words sent a hot wave of need pulsing painfully between your legs.
His other hand skimmed down your side, over the swell of your hip, and down to where you needed him most.
When he swiped a slow finger across your soaked folds, the grunt that left him was purely predatory. "You're so fucking wet," he whispered, to the accompanying sound of your panting. He brushed his thumb across your clit, holding you down as you jolted, flicking his tongue against your nipple.
"Butcher, please," you begged.
"Billy, love," he whispered, raising his head to kiss the corner of your mouth, brushing his thumb against your clit once more to capture your gasp in his kiss. "Call me Billy."
You gripped onto his shoulders, feeling the wide, powerful muscle of his right hand playing with you.
He pressed three fingers flat against you and you bucked, searching for more, as he circled slowly, starting you off.
"Say it," he commanded quietly, circling your clit faster.
"Billy," it came out as a whine and he groaned lowly, capturing your lips and kissing down your throat. The way his fingers played you like a harp wrenched a pornographic moan from your throat and immediately, Billy put a hand over your mouth, the skin between his thumb and forefinger snug under your nose.
"Quiet for me, little Truthteller," he whispered.
He moved his fingers to your entrance and slipped one in so easily it was almost embarrassing. He cooed at you, gliding his finger in and out so slowly it was almost arrogant. "So fucking wet, this perfect little hole."
You keened, squeezing your eyes shut at his crude words, searching for more friction until the heel of his hand pressed snuggly against your clit.
Your hips moved on their own, bucking against his hand as he pumped his finger, faster and faster until your pants turned into hyperventilating and your legs started to close around his hips.
"Got my whole hand drenched, pretty love," he whispered. "That perfect little cunt can handle another finger?"
You preened against his hand, your sounds muffled against his large, meaty palm and he chuckled at you.
The second finger was a tighter fit, his thick digits spreading you and squelching into you slowly.
"Ah, there's my girl," he moaned in your ear. "Fucking my fingers like a good girl."
You wanted to tell him to quit teasing, to bring you to orgasm as quickly as possible because the heat stirring under your skin was insatiable, but you didn't understand how much Billy was enjoying himself. He didn't know when he'd get a chance to have you so willingly spread open for him again, or if he'd ever get the chance again. So he savored this moment like a dying man's last meal.
He let you adjust to his fingers, fucking them into you, palming your clit before he thrust in another finger, opening you wide to him. You gurgled against his hand, muffled moans and pleas stuck behind his palm.
He didn't miss just how tight you were around his fingers, how snug and warm. "So tight, my little love," he cooed, thrusting his fingers in and out slowly, enjoying the way your hips bucked.
The sloppy sounds of your cunt sucking on his fingers drove you mad and a hot, painful knot formed in your belly, pulling and tugging at your insides.
He felt you trembling, your orgasm on the horizon, and he lifted his hand off your mouth, capturing your lips in a warm, sloppy kiss.
"Want you to cum with my name in your mouth," he mumbled, almost incoherent in his chase for your climax. He pressed his thumb to your mouth, opening it, listening to your panting, your quiet moans as he fucked his fingers into your cunt, pressing down on your clit, rubbing it with his palm.
"Billy," you breathed. "Billy. Billy." Like a mantra, a prayer.
"That's it, my pretty girl," he whispered, thumb on your tongue, fingers fucking your pussy until that knot in your bely tightened impossibly and your legs went numb. "Cum my pretty dove, gush all over my hand, come on now."
He grunted against you, and somehow, that guttural, manly sound made stars explode in your belly and you came, shuddering his name quietly, over and over and over until the pleasure had seeped out of your veins and you crumbled back to the floor. You felt his fingers slip out of you, his wet hand pull your knee apart, press against the meat of your thigh, spreading you wide, wide open.
He slithered down your body like a snake, pushing you up against the confines of this box until you felt the warm breath of him against your clit. When he lapped at you, humming around your hole like a satiated man, you mumbled his name, searching with your hands until you grabbed onto the thick strands of his hair. Panting, you mumbled his name again.
"Just having a taste, love," he mumbled, sucking on your over-sensitive clit until the heat came blasting through you again, all over, like you were under the Seducer's spell again.
"Fuck," you gritted, biting your lip, caging in the awfully loud, guttural moan that wanted to spring free.
Billy grabbed onto your hips, holding them down, his forearm over your belly like an anchor.
"One more, little Truthteller," he mumbled, flicking your clit with his tongue, his beard scraping on the inside of your sensitive thighs.
"Billy, please," you whined softly.
"Always wanted a taste," he said. Not a lie. "Always wanted to tongue-fuck this perfect hole." Not a lie.
He pressed his tongue flat to your clit, sucked and nibbled on it until he pressed his tongue right into your cunt, fucking you with his tongue like he'd promised. The mix of his hot breath, his tongue inside your walls, his thumb working on your clit made all your senses flush full of adrenaline. Bucking against his face, you rode his mouth until another flash burst through you and you came all over his face, grinding down on his nose until the last waves of your orgasm had left you.
When he climbed back over, kissing your belly, your nipple, covering you with his warmth, you were just a numb shell of the girl you were when you walked in here.
Billy kissed your jaw, your neck, stroking your hair as you regained your senses.
Whoever had been overhead had gone. It was completely silent. And it left you wondering if that last wave of need had been the Seducer's spell or Billy's.
"We should go, love," he whispered. "Before I stuff you full of my cock and have you cumming on it for the third time."
His filthy mouth brought you back to your body, cold and sweaty and oh so comfortable with two orgasm singing in your veins.
"Yeah," you whispered as Billy pushed the trap door open, peaking out to make sure the coast was clear, and then hopping out. He helped you out with his hand, gentle and calm, smoothing down your hair, covering your nipple, patting down your two-inch skirt.
"I've made a real good mess of you, love, eh?" he chuckled, standing and taking your hand. "Was I a good pet?"

@bramblepatch that is a really great question and there's actually a cool answer! Chicago has a robust public art program that has invested in the weirdest shit possible. And that's the point!
So Chicago has a lot of extremely normal sculptures- lots of historical figures, Lincoln, Goethe, this extremely shiny Alexander Hamilton...
And then there's some... other stuff, and it's mostly Pablo Picasso's fault.
Tumblr media
So up until the late 50s/early 60s, most of the public art in Chicago was just... y'know, what we think of as public art. But in '63, the folks at the Chicago Civic Center wanted something new and fresh, and so they commissioned Pablo Picasso to do... well, really whatever he wanted. So he made this thing and ended up donating the design to the city. And the city was STOKED because this was Pablo Picasso we're talking about here, and so they started doing things like having all these press events and displaying the maquette without copyright notice and long story short, they accidentally turned it into the public domain... and they kinda leaned into that! it's public art, after all!
Naturally, art critics hated it, so that only made the city lean in more! Let's push boundaries! Let's go weird and abstract! Let's experiment and do things that other cities aren't doing! The push to collect and house contemporary art in the city also got a boost from the foundation of the Museum of Contemporary Art in 1967 and the development of the Art Institute's modern collection.
Then the 1968 Democratic National Convention happened and the statue got even MORE famous because of the pig. Jerry Rubin, Phil Ochs, and the other Yippies held a press conference where they nominated a pig named Pigasus for president of the United States right before the DNC kicked off. They held this at the Picasso statue, and then they were arrested for disorderly conduct. Yes, the pig was also arrested. The pictures and controversy surrounding everything about that convention shoved the Picasso into the spotlight on an even grander national scale, and it really became a striking emblem of the city.
So all this attention to a piece of art that made people really question what public art should and could be really pushed a lot of dialogue and decisions about art that the city continued to accept and commission. After the Picasso came Flamingo in '74:

(less abstract but still VERY modern for civic art in what was the 2nd largest city in the country at the time)

And so on and so forth. This period of heavy investiture in large, public works of modern art helped cement Chicago as a place where contemporary art could thrive in public spaces- and we haven't really stopped! From Cloud Gate (the Bean) to Agora to a lot of neat, thought-provoking pieces scattered around the city. It's something I think is really cool, even if it did get us the nightmare that is Crown Fountain.
And if you want to read more about it, here's some more resources:
This guide is outdated, it's from the Rahm Emmanuel administration, but it has a lot of good pictures and locations for things. It also correctly uses the Sears Tower's name.
A couple of great blogs detailing and cataloguing Chicago's public art scene.
The Public Art Archive isn't Chicago-specific, but it has lots of collections to look at from cities all over the place!
A fascinating look at lost pieces of Chicago's public art- sadly, that now includes Monument with Standing Beast, since Google bought the Thompson Center and tore it down. (The Thompson Center had over 150 pieces of public art, an amazing collection... that's all in some state warehouse now. Hopefully it comes back or is displayed somewhere else that's public, since I'm not sure how much access we'll have to the Thompson Center once Alphabet moves in.)
Anyways I think public art is cool as hell thank you for reading this whole thing!

You Bring Me Back to the Light
Pairing: William Miller x nurse!fem!Reader Word Count: 4.7k
Warnings/tags: 18+; pining, mentions of PTSD, slight confession of feelings, guarded Will
Summary: Having been best friends with Benny for years, you'd known his brother, Will, for just as long. While you'd always felt a spark of attraction towards him, he'd been engaged to Rachel when you'd first met. But now, almost two years after that engagement had fallen apart, Will continued to keep himself closed off from relationships–yet that didn't make you care for him any less.
a/n: After watching Triple Frontier, I couldn't resist writing a little something for Will (and yes I definitely made up a name for his ex-fiancé). This is also my first time writing for him, but if there's genuine interest, I could be convinced to add another part for this! Feedback and reblogs are always appreciated!

Loud pop music blared over the speakers in The Tipsy Flamingo, the noise so thunderous that you could feel the bass vibrating in your chest as you rested your forearms against the small, circular table. The bar was packed tonight–a usual for a late Friday evening. The heat of so many bodies shoved together, some of them grinding and dancing between the tables, only seemed to increase the temperature inside the place. The cool beer you’d been drinking down since you arrived was only marginally helping to moderate your own body temperature.
Across the table from you, Alicia glanced down at her phone, tapping a nail along the screen. You watched as her brows furrowed at the device when it lit up before her. A second later, she looked back up at you and your friends gathered around the table.
“Where the hell is Benny?” she asked, shouting over the music. “His fight ended more than a half an hour ago, he’s usually here by now.”
“Maybe he lost and he’s sulking in the locker rooms,” Mitch joked.
Shaking your head, you swallowed down the drink you'd just taken. You knew Benny the best out of everyone in the group, mostly because you'd both grown closer during all those times you’d patched him up after a fight to save him on medical bills since, as an ER nurse at the hospital, you had the experience. But you knew win or lose, Benny would be here drinking to either celebrate his victory, or blow off steam after a defeat. And since he always picked this bar–solely because it attracted lots of single women and was a short drive from the arena where his matches took place–you knew he’d be here.
“Probably just got held up,” you said over the loud music. “I'm sure he's–”
The weight of a hand landing onto your shoulder cut you off, the unexpected touch causing you to startle. Turning to look over your shoulder, you expected to see some drunken dipshit grabbing at you, but your gaze landed on Benny and his wide, triumphant grin. There was a red mark on his left eye that was impossible to miss, one that looked as if it would turn into an impressive shiner by tomorrow.
“There you are,” you said, a smile sliding onto your own face as your body shifted towards him. “We were just wondering what was taking you so long.”
“Took me longer to get over here because I was trying to convince this asshole–” Benny teased, removing his hand from your shoulder and pointing at his brother now approaching your table, “–to come out for a bit after the match.”
Will's eyes narrowed at his brother as he came up behind you, stopping just a foot away from where you stood. He was so close that you could smell the usual musk of his cologne, the warm, woodsy scent of it immediately sending that familiar rush of longing through you. With his focus fixed on Benny, you couldn't help but to stare at him, admiring how good he looked–something you did every time you laid eyes on him.
It had been three months since the last time you'd seen Will, which had been when he'd last come out to one of Benny's fights–or rather, when Benny had repeatedly and successfully harassed and hounded him to come out. Because Will, as Benny had been telling you for awhile, had been spending all of his time either keeping busy with work, or overdoing it at the gym. He’d been like that ever since things had fallen apart with Rachel almost two years ago.
You knew Benny worried about his brother, always trying to get him out of his brooding, moping moods any chance he could. It was why he kept trying to drag him out to different events like his matches, or Benny often tried inviting him out with your group of friends. Because ever since Rachel had called off the engagement after The Incident at Publix, Will had closed himself off from everyone.
But in the three months since you'd last seen Will, you couldn't deny that he'd somehow gotten even more attractive. As he stood there behind you, calling his brother out for his comment just now, your eyes traveled over the dark jeans that fit his thighs just right, and his black, fitted t-shirt that looked as if it was struggling around the girth of his biceps–especially with the way his arms were crossed over his chest. You wondered if he’d managed to gain more muscle in those months that had passed, or if you just had forgotten how damn handsome he was.
Though as both brothers briefly bickered behind you, the conversation picking back up at the table among your friends, your attention shifted to something else. You could still see that familiar lingering look in Will’s blue eyes. You had a feeling that you knew exactly what it was just from the way Benny often talked about Will with you. Loneliness. Because he'd spent almost two years now self-isolating himself in his grief like some sort of self-inflicted punishment. Will hadn’t been dating, he barely hung out with his own friends, and only on occasion he’d let Benny successfully rope him into one thing or another–usually involving you.
Which had only increased your growing attraction towards the man the more time you spent with him. Despite how guarded Will kept himself, you found yourself inevitably falling further for him. Those rare moments you’d seen him actually relax–when the tension finally eased out of his broad shoulders, and his eyes lit up with a bit of something more–you’d witnessed his sense of humor return. You always forgot how much you’d loved the sound of his laugh until you finally heard it again; it was so warm that you found yourself craving more of it. During those rare times he'd let that guard of his down around you, you found yourself falling into easy conversation with him about anything–something that hadn’t happened since he’d been engaged. You enjoyed Will’s company, and from how long some of your chats had lasted when Benny found some excuse or another to disappear on you two, you figured he at least didn’t mind yours, either.
“So Benny,” Jake asked, interrupting the bickering brothers, “how’d the fight go?”
At the mention of the fight, Benny snapped his attention back to your friends before he sidled up on one side of you, making space for himself between you and Gavin at the table. He reached over to grab the pitcher of beer in the middle of it while you became painfully aware of Will sliding into the space on the other side of you. Biting your lip, you tried to keep your focus on Benny to your left, watching as he poured himself a glass of beer while your hand tightly gripped your own glass.
“I won,” Benny gloated, that triumphant smile returning to his face. “Knocked his ass out within a few minutes.”
An eruption of cheers broke out among the group in response, the sound only making Benny's smile grow. As if he needed anything more to inflate his ego. You had been about to congratulate him yourself, but you noticed how Will leaned in towards you on your other side, his voice beside your ear making you forget everything else around you.
“Hey,” he said, catching your attention. “Been a bit since I've seen you.”
Tongue darting at the sound of his deep voice which was just loud enough to be heard over the music in the bar, it nervously ran along the length of your bottom lip. Even your pulse inevitably quickened at Will’s close proximity and his unexpected attention. Glancing over to your right, you saw him resting his forearms along the table, his blue eyes fixed on no one else but you.
You wished he'd stay like that all night.
“Yeah,” you agreed, speaking up over the music. “Few months.”
Still trying to calm your racing heart, you watched as Will nodded, reaching his hands out to pour himself a beer once Benny had finished. Your eyes were focused on the way the muscles in his arms flexed as he held onto the glass and raised the pitcher over it, pouring the amber liquid without spilling a drop. Gaze skimming down his bare arms, they lingered on his tattoos along his forearms–tattoos you’d often imagined tracing with your fingers more than once.
“Seventy-eight days, actually,” he stated matter-of-factly.
The corner of your lips curled upwards at that, your gaze returning to his face as he set the pitcher of beer back down on the table. He'd been paying enough attention to how long it’d been since he'd last seen you that he’d actually been counting the days? That little flutter in your stomach only grew more insistent at that knowledge, even though you’d long since known about Will's penchant to count everything in his life. Will wasn't remotely meaning it as anything like that and you knew it, but still, the thought that he was that aware of your absence in his life had you grinning.
“That's…definitely a lengthy bit of time,” you agreed.
Will smiled back at you as he raised his glass of beer to his lips, taking a deep drink. But as he swallowed the alcohol down, you noticed how his eyes darted around the bar, taking in his surroundings when a bass-heavy song started to play over the speakers. The smile quickly fell from his face, a frown settling over it instead as he lowered his glass.
You could easily tell that he didn't want to be here. The anxious energy from the noise and the crowd of people was practically rolling off of him as he stood beside you. He appeared on edge, his gaze continuing to dart around the bar as his hand on the table curled into a fist. The urge to distract him hit you hard in that moment.
“So how’ve you been over these past seventy-eight days?” you asked, drawing his focus back to you. “Keeping busy?”
“Just been working mostly,” he answered, his eyes leaving your face to scan the bar once again. “Going to the gym. Sometimes with Benny.” A muscle jumped in his cheek before his attention returned to you beside him. “How's the hospital been?”
You shrugged a shoulder at his question, the loud pounding of the bass causing your own chest to thump in time with the music. It didn’t help that it felt suffocatingly stifling in the bar with all of the people packed inside, and the noise mixed with the beer you'd already drank was beginning to give you a headache. You couldn’t exactly blame Will for being on edge here.
“You know, the usual,” you told him. “Not a day goes by that the ER isn't filled to the brim with chaos. It's actually why I wasn't able to make it to Benny's fight tonight,” you continued, trying to speak over the music as Will leaned in closer to you. “Barely had enough time to get out here after my shift as it was.”
“Wondered why you weren't at the fight tonight,” Will said, a partial grin tugging at his lips. “I missed your entertaining commentary.”
Hand gripping tight around your glass of beer, you watched as he raised his own to his lips for another drink. Had he been expecting to see you there tonight? Was that what had drawn him to come out to Benny’s fight initially and then to the bar afterwards? Had he been hoping to see you?
But no, that was just your wishful thinking talking. Bringing your own glass to your lips, you took a drink and tried to shove that thought aside. Will wasn’t interested in you like that. He wasn’t interested in anyone like that after Rachel.
As the conversation continued at the table among the group, you caught the way Will’s attention shifted to it. But while you chatted and joked with your friends, you’d become keenly aware of how quiet Will remained beside you as the night wore on. Even Benny kept flashing him curious looks from around the other side of you, keeping an eye on his brother. More than once, Benny or you had attempted to pull Will into the conversation, but often he would respond before falling silent again, more focused on his beer than the topic.
It didn't help that while you’d been focused on the conversation, you kept accidentally brushing your arm against Will’s whenever you’d take a drink. It often threw off your train of thought as you glanced over at him, an apologetic smile on your face each time. And each time, you received one of his handsome smiles in return that had you drinking down a deeper drink at the sight of it.
But you weren't blind. You could still tell that Will was anxious as he stood there leaning against the table beside you. He looked unsettled and uncomfortable with the way he was drawn in on himself, his shoulders more tensed than they usually were when you'd seen him out in the past. His eyes kept flitting around the bar as if he couldn’t just relax and enjoy the conversation occurring at the table.
The times you'd spoken with Benny while patching him up after a fight had been insightful. You knew that what he’d told you was just a miniscule fraction of what he and his brother had been through as you sat there bandaging his injuries, but it had become evident that both him and Will now suffered the consequences of their time in the special forces. They both had different things that seemed to trigger them, and you'd come to recognize the signs from both men over the years you’d gotten to know them. Will particularly didn't like loud, crowded places that were unpredictable–like bars. It was why he usually avoided coming out for drinks after Benny’s matches even if he’d never outright say it.
Turning towards him, you leaned closer to be heard above the music. “Hey,” you said, catching his attention before hesitantly resting a hand against his shoulder, careful not to startle him. “You doing alright?”
Will immediately nodded his head, a strained smile stretching across his lips. “Yeah,” he replied, voice tight. “Yeah, I’m good.”
He absolutely was not good. It was written all over his face. But clearly, he wasn’t going to be honest with you–not that that really surprised you. So you figured you’d try a different tactic.
“I might actually step outside,” you told him, setting your almost empty glass of beer down. “Could use some fresh air. It's a bit hot in here.”
Mirroring your actions, Will set his own half-finished glass onto the table. Straightening to his full height beside you, he gestured his head towards the direction of the exit. “I might join you outside, then.”
Your eyes caught Benny’s just as you turned away from the table, the small grin on his face not going entirely unnoticed by you. Ignoring it, you began weaving your way through the crowd of people in the bar, squeezing your way between them all. At one point you glanced over your shoulder, wanting to make sure you hadn’t lost Will in the sea of people, but your heart flew into your throat when you’d paused and unexpectedly came face to face with him.
For the briefest moment, with the music still pounding through the speakers, time felt like it halted. You stood there with your eyes locked on his, aware that he was so close that you could smell the beer on his breath mingling with the mint from a piece of gum he’d probably been chewing during Benny’s match. His eyes remained locked on yours, a heat gradually beginning to settle in your gut the longer you both stood there like that–until someone at a nearby table bumped into you.
The nudge pulled you away from Will’s stare, causing you to look over at the clearly inebriated girl who was apologizing to you before stumbling her way towards the bar. Remembering that you’d been trying to lead Will outside and away from the madness inside The Tipsy Flamingo, you turned and continued maneuvering your way through the throngs of people and towards the exit.
Despite the humidity and heat of the evening, it was vastly cooler outside as you stepped out onto the sidewalk in front of the bar. Running the back of your hand across your forehead, you could feel the faint accumulation of sweat that had formed. Though even from outside, you couldn’t entirely escape the noise of the bar.
“You good?”
At the sound of his voice, you looked over to see Will standing a few feet away from you. His blonde brows were knitted together as a look of concern drew itself across his features, his blue eyes studying you in the street lights overhead.
“Me?” you asked, laughing softly. “Yeah, I’m good. It was just getting incredibly hot in there, you know?”
“Yeah, I do know,” he agreed easily.
“I wish Benny would pick a different bar for after his fight nights,” you told him. Walking over to the side of the building, you leaned your back against the cool brick. “Like I get why he always picks this place, but I mean…”
You trailed off, shaking your head. Will made his way over to where you were standing, the faintest hint of a smirk on his face. That was a sight you never saw often, and you could tell the change of scenery was already helping his nerves.
“You get why he comes here, do you?” he asked curiously. “You sure about that?”
“Because he’s looking to hook up after a fight,” you answered, watching the look of surprise wash over Will’s face at your blunt answer. “He’s told me countless times before. He likes his odds of finding someone at this bar in particular because there's a ton of girls who come out here.”
Will ran his hand over the back of his neck, his attention shifting down to his shoes. He nodded his head slowly at your words before a soft huff fell out of him.
“Guess you two really are close,” he muttered.
Something passed over Will’s face as he spoke, a flicker of an emotion you couldn’t quite make out. You watched as his hand lowered from his neck, dropping back to his side as his eyes once more met yours.
Had that been…jealousy?
“He’s like a brother to me,” you confessed, wanting to make it clear. “We've gotten really close over the years, but he's just my best friend.”
Very slowly, a grin began to spread across Will’s lips. The sight had your heart stuttering inside of your chest, especially with how the smile for once reached his eyes. He was so completely and unfairly beautiful it made your chest ache.
“Just a brother to you, huh?” he asked, taking a step closer towards you. “That’s all Benny is?”
Lips parting in surprise at the potential implication of his question, you weren’t sure if you were misinterpreting what he was asking right now. Had he been thinking there was something more going on with you and his brother than friendship all this time?
“We’ve always just been friends,” you answered. “I’ve never…been interested in Benny like that.”
Will nodded slowly at your response, that grin still spread wide over his lips. He looked pleased with your answer before he took another step closer to you. His head tilted a little to the side as his gaze slowly began to run up the length of you. You swore you could feel his eyes on you as if he’d been touching you instead of just looking, the sensation causing your mouth to run dry and goosebumps to prickle along your forearms.
“You look good tonight,” Will told you.
His eyes met yours again and you could tell there was something else lingering behind that compliment. Even the tone in which he’d said it wasn’t the usual way you heard Will speak to you. And now, as you both stood there on the sidewalk staring each other down, you could feel a palpable tension hanging in the air around you. Before you could stop yourself, the words tumbled right out of you.
“So do you.”
Will's smile widened before he took another few steps towards you, closing the distance between you both until he was standing so close that you could have reached out and brushed your fingers along his cheek, just above that beard you’d often wanted to run your fingers through countless times in the past. Breath coming in sharper as you held his gaze, you were uncertain if he was feeling what you were in that moment. Afraid to do something that would push him too far too fast, you tried to remain patient, wondering where this was about to lead.
“You know, when Benny asked me to come out to his fight tonight,” Will began, his voice low and quiet, “I really didn’t want to come out. Wasn’t really feeling like dealing with a bunch of those hillbillies at that arena. But I did anyway.” He paused, his eyes tracing their way around your face. “You wanna know why I did?”
Your tongue slipped out, wetting your dry lips. The pounding of your heart was so loud, you’d already forgotten about the noise from the bar you were both standing outside of.
“Why?”
The question came out soft in the space between you. Will’s eyes dropped down towards your lips for a moment before they returned to yours. He was looking at you differently tonight–differently than all the times he had before.
“Because I wanted to see you,” he confessed quietly.
Those words hung heavy in the silence that followed, your eyes widening slightly at the admission. He’d wanted to see you. He’d come out to see you tonight. Not Benny–you.
“I…”
Your voice trailed off as you stood there, struggling to process what you’d wanted to hear from him for so long now. When you’d come out tonight, this was the last thing you’d expected to happen.
“I know that you’re Benny’s best friend,” Will continued, shaking his head as if he was trying to explain things, “and I know that you both are close, and that–”
“There you two are!”
Benny’s exclamation immediately cut Will off, causing both of you to turn your attention towards the bar’s entrance. Benny was making his way over towards the pair of you, a ridiculously large smile on his face as he took in how close you both were standing.
“You two disappeared on us,” Benny continued. “I figured I’d make sure everything was alright.”
Will took two abrupt steps back from you as his brother joined you both outside of the bar. The distance immediately caused a bolt of frustration to run through you. You swore Will had just been about to admit that he’d had feelings for you before Benny came and interrupted the entire moment.
“We’re good,” Will assured his brother, that guardedness quickly returning. “We both just needed some air. Figured we’d step outside for a bit.”
“Oh?” Benny asked.
“But I think I might head out,” Will added on, taking yet another step back. “Early morning and all.”
You could feel your heart sink at his words, but you tried your hardest to hide the disappointment on your face. Whatever had been about to happen, Benny had clearly just interrupted and ruined it. Now Will was closing himself back up and planning to hastily retreat like that moment hadn’t even happened.
“You’re leaving already?” Benny asked. “You’ve barely been here longer than an hour, man. You don’t need to go yet.”
Will’s eyes darted from Benny to you, his jaw tensing before his gaze quickly returned to his brother. “Like I said, Benny,” Will repeated, “I got an early morning.”
He gave you a curt nod in farewell before he abruptly turned, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his jeans as he walked off towards the bar’s parking lot. You couldn’t do anything but stare helplessly after him, feeling as if the moment you’d been wanting had just slipped through your fingers.
“Hey,” Benny said, his elbow nudging your arm. “What the hell just happened? Something going on with you and Will?”
In the distance, Will turned the corner, disappearing from sight around the back of the bar. The breath you hadn’t been aware that you’d been holding slowly passed between your lips as you practically deflated beside Benny.
“No,” you answered, finally shifting your attention to him. “No there’s not.”
Benny’s eyes narrowed skeptically back at you, that red mark around his left eye looking a bit more angry than it had an hour ago. You shot him a flat look as he continued staring at you with that calculating expression on his face, as if he was trying to figure something out.
“But you want there to be,” he finally said. “Don’t you?”
“Benny,” you replied, shaking your head. “Don’t start this.”
“Be honest with me for once, dammit,” Benny demanded. “Tell me the truth. You like Will, don’t you?”
A resigned sigh fell out of you as you glanced over your shoulder, staring at the place Will had disappeared. It wasn’t worth lying to Benny anymore and making excuses. You knew he wasn’t buying it at this point.
“Yeah, I do,” you finally relented, looking back over at him. “And I don’t know what you just interrupted, but I got a feeling it might be another two years before I maybe get an answer to even that.”
“Naw,” Benny disagreed, a knowing look on his face. He stepped over towards you, slinging an arm over your shoulder as he began guiding you back towards the bar. “Not two years. Just two more weeks.”
Pulling a face, you looked over at Benny as the pair of you neared the entrance of The Tipsy Flamingo. “What?” you asked.
A devious grin spread across his mouth as he stopped the pair of you just in front of the doors. He was staring at you as if he knew something more than you did.
“You’re my plus one,” he reminded you. “At our cousin Melissa’s wedding that's in two weeks. And I am well aware that Will is attending solo.”
You stood there with his arm still slung over your shoulder, taking in the sight of that shit-eating grin on his face. And then gradually, it dawned on you.
“Benny,” you began carefully, “did you invite me because you knew it meant that Will and I would be forced to spend more time together?”
“Maybe,” he replied mischievously. “That might’ve been on my mind when I told you I didn’t want to go to a stuffy wedding all alone.”
“Benny!” you exclaimed, eyes growing wide. “Christ! Have you been doing this the whole time? Trying to get us to spend time together?”
His grin only grew wider at your question, a glint of something flickering in his eyes. “I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about,” he replied sarcastically, pulling you back towards the bar with him. “But there's no one else I've ever seen calm Will like you naturally do. I swear my brother always looks like he’s two seconds away from laying his head in your lap and letting you scratch him behind the ears like a dog whenever you’re around.” He shot you a sideways glance at the amused snort that fell out of you. “And after whatever I just saw? I’m thinking maybe I’ll catch Will slow dancing with my plus one in two weeks.”
Surrounded by the loud music and the crowd of people as you stepped back inside the bar, you could feel the amusement at what he'd said fade as that heat gradually filled you again. The thought of seeing Will dressed up at that wedding had crossed your mind more than once, but now the mental image of him with his strong arms holding you against himself all night while you both swayed to the music was a new thought–one you knew would be stuck in your mind until then.

Eddie walks into his house after a three-day work trip in NYC to find…..a lot of boxes.
Most of them cardboard, most of them labeled DONATE or TRASH or GARAGE in Steve’s familiar handwriting.
“Oh, jeez,” Eddie mutters, because he knows what this is. Sure enough, he follows a trail of boxes upstairs to find the rest of his family in his youngest daughter Hazel’s room.
“Spring cleaning?” Eddie asks.
“Spring cleaning,” Moe says with an affirmative nod.
“Just Hazel’s room?” he asks, because Moe and Robbie are looking awfully comfortable sitting on Hazel’s bed while Hazel herself is rummaging through a back corner of her jam-packed closet, Steve watching over her shoulder with his hands on his hips.
“Uh, well, Moe ‘doesn’t do clutter’,” Steve says as he looks over at Eddie, “and therefore is exempt, apparently, and Robbie’s room gives me a migraine.”
“Plus,” Moe cuts in, “Robbie’s room is all clutter. If we get rid of it all, she'd have no personality left.”
“Hey,” Robbie says, jabbing her elbow into Moe's side, “Don’t be rude.”
Steve gives Eddie a do you see what I’m dealing with kind of look as Hazel finally emerges from her closet.
“Dad, do you want this?” Hazel asks, holding out a very small, dog-shaped notebook with a comically large spiral binding that she probably acquired when she was in elementary school, “For writing or whatever?”
“Uh…”
“Just say yes so I can move some shit out of here,” Steve mutters, so Eddie takes the notebook from Hazel, and as soon as she was turning back to her closet, Steve took it from him and tossed it into the ‘Donate’ box in the hallway.
A moment later, Hazel emerged again, turning around to show everyone two plastic lawn flamingos (mismatched, Eddie notes).
“Thoughts?” she asked.
“Hon, those don’t even match,” Steve says (and he sounds all beleaguered and everything as if all this wasn’t his crusade to begin with), “They’re two totally different shades of pink.”
“Well, did you know that they’re actually white when they’re born? And then they eat mostly shrimp and that’s how they turn pink.”
Steve just stares at her for a moment, “Okay, Haze, those are plastic.”
“You should keep those,” Moe said, “Genuinely they’re, like, decor. You can put them somewhere.”
They spend a few minutes watching Hazel precariously balance the flamingos’ spindly legs on top of her bookshelf, but it doesn't take long for something else to catch Steve's eye.
“What’s that?” Steve asks, jutting his chin in the direction of something on an open shelf of Hazel’s dresser.
Hazel fetches a plastic Starbucks cup with a dozen or so dusty rocks inside.
“They’re rocks,” Hazel points out, “From when we went to the Grand Canyon.”
“Okay…” Steve says slowly, “Do they have to be in your sock drawer?”
“Why don’t you put them on your windowsill?” Robbie suggests, “You can charge the rocks, like, spiritually.”
“Oh yeah, there’s an idea,” Steve comments, but Hazel is already halfway to the window. Still, she pauses, and then turns back to face them.
“Do you think they miss their home?” she asks.
“What?” Steve looks at her.
“In the Grand Canyon?”
“Oh, Hazel,” Steve sighs.
“We could try to ship them back,” Moe suggests.
“None of you are helping.”

The thin flamingo pink straps of your favorite summertime bathing suit made elegant crosses against your back whenever you allowed the unrelenting August sun to fall against you intimately. They were intricate enough that Wanda spent most nights tracing the evidence of once fairer skin with soft fingers, hot breath fanning tantalizingly across the nape of your neck as she spooned you in bed, but still simple enough that the lacy top didn’t take any more than a few seconds to slip on while dashing to get ready and meet them by the front door before Wanda came up to find you herself. The vibrant bathing suit that had been purchased by Natasha brought out a spark in your eyes that was addictive, and frequently you found yourself reaching for it whenever a pool day had been declared by your girlfriends.
Today, Natasha had decided to do something different, and like many others that had fallen into the cycle of outdoor activities while the warmth of summertime lasted, you found yourself submerged in the waters of the Atlantic,  granules of coarse sand embedded throughout your scalp while the aroma of salt air captivating your senses. The rush of people had died down since late June and early July, leaving mostly locals around you as you frolicked and splashed through the waves that crashed against your back. Droplets of water clung to your skin, creating racetracks and mazes out of your arms and belly as you bobbed in and out of the waist deep water, only tracking the location of your girlfriends sporadically when you thought you’d drifted too far in another direction.
Up higher on the beach, surrounded by granules of sand the color of a perfectly roasted marshmallows – in your opinion at least, Natasha was a freak who liked her smores black and charred – Wanda and Natasha on their bellies, their arms folded beneath their heads as they pleaded with the sun to allow them even an ounce of golden color to bear through the early weeks of approaching fall. Wanda had been more fortunate than Natasha in the months leading up to this impromptu outing, bearing a gorgeous bronze sheen against her limbs and face, while Natasha had burnt to a crisp within minutes despite every technique she’d tried to use. It was endearing, but desperately you wanted them out here with you. You’d spent three hours building sandcastles and pouring sand over Wanda’s feet whenever she’d explicitly told you not to do that, but eventually she’d sent you off to the water when your relentless energy grew to be too much to handle all at once.
You weren’t sure how long you’d been out in the depths of the ocean for, diving into waves and body surfing back to shore whenever you grew tired of keeping yourself afloat, but as the sun faded farther into the horizon, you knew that at least a considerable amount of time had elapsed since Wanda sent you off to burn off some restless energy. With one final somersault into a massive wave, you trudged back up the expanse of sandy shorelines, marveling at the the endless abyss of blue that stretched on for miles above you. The cloudless sky had been a rarity in recent days, unpredictable sun showers and thunderstorms wreaking havoc on Westview like many other neighboring towns in New Jersey, but today had been a yearned for glimpse of peace that thankfully wasn’t quite over yet, and while you would absolutely never admit it, you were glad that Natasha had woken you up sweetly at seven in the morning instead of letting you sleep like you’d demanded.
Your girlfriends were easy to spot, the large blue and tan umbrella one of the only ones that littered the shorelines. There was an endless array of color schemes spread across the beach, so much so that it was honestly an eyesore, but Wanda and Natasha had always preferred simpler things, and a refined palette of baby blues and muted tans made up most of their beach equipment. Everything had been custom made by a small boutique just a few blocks away; from their towels, chairs, umbrellas, down to the cooler packed with crisp waters and hard seltzer, it was all the same palette, which only made spotting two redheads on a beach full of bottle blondes and brunettes easier.
When you reached them, water dripping off your frame as the wind blew and developed you in a gentle chill, you made sure that you stood directly over top of Wanda, not only blocking her back from the sun, but getting her wet in the process. You grinned cheekily down at her, kicking sand up at Natasha’s ankles when the fleeting thought of her being left out crept up on you. The russian cursed beneath her breath, turning over to send you a very pointed glare, only to be ignored as you continued to grin down at Wanda, who refused to budge despite your ministrations.
“Mommy!” You whined when you didn’t get your way, shuffling your feet against the sand in a petulant fit, though her head was still burrowed into her arms as she lounged against the thick blue and tan towel that you decided now was your worst enemy. Your own head was fuzzy and light as a result of her constant babying since leaving the house that morning, having apparently discussed taking you out in subspace with Natasha while you were upstairs taking forever to get ready. Since that first time you’d gone to the aquarium and explored the limits of their dominance and your willingness to submit, you’d found an easy comfort in their domestic control, and that didn’t falter for a second even on a crowded beach. You trusted them, and more importantly, they trusted themselves to steer you clear into a blissful haze of intimate submission without pushing you too far over the edge and sending you into a drop. So much of their effortless love and careful time had been poured into shaping your trust, it felt like another lifetime ago when Wanda had been the very thing you aimed all of your fears and insecurities at, but now she was the one thing that you wanted so unabashedly that you weren’t above throwing a fit in public to get it.
You screeched in startled shock when she abruptly turned onto her back, emerald eyes narrowed into thin, unamused daggers before she was reaching up and grabbing your wrists, pulling you down firmly on top of her, hardly caring that your wet body made an impression against her own dry bathing suit. She was planning on getting in the water with you anyways, so the evidence of your frame against her front was hardly of any significance. You whined in shameful embarrassment when her palm crashed down against your ass in a strike of pointed warning, the initial clap of contact thankfully drowned out by incessant seagulls that swarmed a nearby tent where french fries had been spilled by a toddler. For a moment, you focused on how her skin was warm beneath your body, your mind already melting away into peaceful contentment now that you had her arms around your waist, but you were brought back to the chaos of the beach when her lips ghosted along the shell of your ear, her breath heavy and warm as it swirled around your skin. “You throw a fit and we go home. Is that how you want today to go, little one?”
You whined, shaking your head while a tear-filled expression came over your once radiant features. You absolutely did not want to go home, you were having so much fun pretending to be both a fishie and a mermaid, you’d begged Natasha all summer to take you down to the beach for a full day of activities and fun, but she’d denied your request every time because of the unrelenting crowd of rude tourists that gathered in Westview like clockwork each year. You didn’t want to lose all of this prematurely, so you mumbled a meek apology and hid your face within Wanda’s neck, on the verge of tears that she’d admittedly seen coming.
Her hand rubbed your back soothingly, a weighted presence that brought a comforting peace over you easily, and comfortably you turned your head to look at the villages of sandcastles you’d built at the start of your adventure. Your fingers, ever unable to remain still, wandered over to the ones that were closest around you in disheveled clumps of beige, gravity having pulled them down over the hours that you’d spent in the water. Natasha’s castles still looked the best beside yours and Wandas, irritatingly so, and without restraint you smashed your palm down against her tallest one, careful not to damage the seashells that had she’d so carefully pressed into the dry sand around it, but effectively bringing a calamitous end to her quaint kingdom. Wanda’s disapproval was not so quietly delivered upon you, and disapprovingly she gripped your chin between slender digits, her glare unwavering and able to easily undo you. A strained whimper fell off of your tongue, the sound soft and meek, reflective of your sensitive headspace that despite its newfound edge of brattiness, both she and Natasha adored.
“What is with the attitude?” Her voice is thin, edged with guarded dominance that has you whimpering and searching aimlessly for protection from Natasha, but the Russian at your side is in no mood to help you out, equally as curious as Wanda, and she merely narrows her gaze in pointed waiting as she nods just slightly back at her wife. You let out a soft grunt, teary eyes blinking up at your girlfriend as you attempt to press your face into her neck in embarrassed shame, but her fingers keep you still, only loosening when she feels your muscles go rigid with emotions you have no way to verbalize so far into a state of submissive bliss. “I thought you were going to be a good girl for Mommy.” She coos tenderly, shifting her approach as she watches you try to formulate a coherent answer to her previous question, effectively rousing yourself from that delicious state of bliss she’d worked tirelessly to bring forth.
“Be a good girl for Mommy.” You mumbled, a soft pout pulling your lips downward as you stared deep into the kaleidoscope of greens that made up her dazzling emerald eyes. There was no easy color for her eyes to claim, but the glimmering appeal of a deep emerald hue was the most accurate, and a ring that typically adorned her slender fingers beside her engagement ring was a sparkling ring with a pristinely cut emerald that you had gotten her for her birthday. “Ring gone.” Your pout deepened when your realized that the chill of metal that typically came with her hands on your face was missing, and the gleam of sunlight catching jewels was absent as well.
Wanda smiled softly, peppering your face in kisses that distracted you from your lapse in sadness. “Mommy left them at home so they’d be safe. Just like we left your ring at home, remember, sweetheart?” She laughed softly, brushing the pads of her thumbs against your sun kissed cheeks, softly tsking when she noticed just how pink you’d become since venturing down to the water. “I think somebody needs more sunscreen.”
“No!” You whined sharply in adamant protest, wriggling away from her chest in a futile attempt to avoid the reapplication of her coconut scented sunscreen all together, but again she held you tightly to her chest, and again she tutted in disapproval.
“Behave.” She warned lowly, accent seeping into the single uttered word. You whined, kicking your feet petulantly against the granules of sand that had been tickling your skin since she’d initially pulled you down onto her. “Malyshka, Mommy has to put sunscreen on you. She doesn’t want her little duckling to burn.” The added emphasis of her finger gently pressing against the tip of your nose did little to convince you, but the smallest part of your brain that still had the ability to think rationally warned you that there was no use in putting up a fight.
“Daddy do.” You negotiated, knowing that at the very least, Natasha wouldn’t take the time to tease your already sensitive body like Wanda would, and did. She’d had you a blubbering mess of desperation before you left the house, her fingers having slipped beneath the fabric of your bathing suit on more than one occasion in a manner that was painfully suggestive.
Wanda rolled her eyes fondly, shrugging you off of her body and toward Natasha who was trying her best to muffle her amused laughter as she watched you with fondness etched into her soft mesmerizing eyes. If Wanda’s eyes were impossible to name, hers were forbidden. There was no color in the world that would ever even come close to the colors that swirled within her eyes each day, constantly changing as landscapes and outfits did. The sun had dried you almost entirely since you’d abandoned the high tides of the midday Atlantic, but still a towel was run over your limbs and exposed belly before Natasha smeared the dreaded white lotion across her palms, warming it up before she even tried to touch your skin, having learned from Wanda’s mistake that morning. You wriggled impatiently, huffed and whined throughout the entire process, but you let her do it, so neither she nor Wanda reprimanded your attitude.
“Now was that really so bad, utenok?” Natasha laughed teasingly, kissing the tip of your sunkissed nose affectionately before she turned toward the beach bag laid upright on the sand a few inches back from the towels, shaded by the umbrella that was practically useless as none of you had spent even a minute beneath its provided shade.
“Don’t like.” You grumbled, sinking into Wanda’s lap when the Sokovian finally sat upright on her own towel, abandoning her plans of sunbathing, instead, patting her thighs in a wholesome invitation to cuddle properly.
“I know you don’t like it, you make that very clear.” She mused softly against your hairline, tangling her fingers into the straps of your bathing suit, taking a peak at the tanlines that had darkened considerably since you’d first stepped foot outside. “What do you say we go play in the water some more while Daddy gets you an ice cream?”
“Ice cream?” You perked up, eyes shining brightly beneath the sun at the mention of your favorite summer treat. You’d made it your mission to try every ice cream parlor in Westview, and being a beach town with an ample amount of tourism during the warmer months of the year, there were plenty to go through. You’d nearly completed the list, all that remained was the small shop toward the front of the beach, where the line was almost always wrapped around the building.
“Yes, baby, ice cream. I told you we’d get a treat, didn’t I?” Wanda laughs at your excitement, eyes sparkling with elation as she reveled in the simple moments that were coming to a rushed end. In only a couple of weeks you’d be back at school, no longer living on campus but still away from home for hours upon hours in the already limited day, and to fill that time alone both she and Natasha would dive back into work. They’d delegated the minor tasks to trusted employees to spend the utmost amount of time with you as possible while they could, and as nice as it had been to take a much needed break and focus on their personal lives, they were itching to get back into the office, handling everything by themselves like they’d been doing for years since starting their own company. “What kind do you want?”
“Strawberry! With peanut butter sauce and hot fudge!” The grin that split your lips was wide and so addictive, Wanda couldn’t help but allow her eyes to dance between your eyes alight with soft affection and your smile twinged with golden joy. You were the epitome of ethereal, lounging against her chest in a bathing suit that left little to the imagination, but still you looked so wholesome with your ass out for the residents of Westview to see, granules of sand clinging to your spankable cheeks.
“Oh yes, how silly of me. I should’ve known.” She teases, because truthfully, she should’ve. You ordered the same thing all summer, and when Natasha suggested you try something else, knowing a handful of spots in Westview had signature flavors that tourists traveled just to get, you’d pouted and outright refused saying that was just as bad as you going around kissing other women. Wanda had spanked you for that, assuring that you remembered your place and that nobody could ever please you like she and Natahsa could. Still, you didn’t get a different flavor. “My little strawberry monster!” Wanda attacked your neck with kisses, her laughter mixing with yours as Natasha stood behind you both, phone out, capturing the sight of the both of you so entangled with love.
“One strawberry ice cream for the little one, and what will you be having, Wands?” Natasha’s eyes glimmered beneath the sun, her red locks practically ablaze beneath the harsh kiss of daylight. She looked like something straight out of a portrait, but you doubted any artist could replicate her beauty by any standards.
“A bomb pop.” Was Wanda’s answer, and without any further questions, Natasha began the long walk up the beach, growing smaller and smaller as she left you behind. You waved at her retreating frame, hopeful that she’d sense your affection and turn to wave back, but it never came, and tearfully you turned your gaze to Wanda, eyes wide and glimmering with feelings that were all the more powerful in your blissful state of submission. She kissed your pout away affectionately, tapping your thighs thoughtfully. “What do you say you show Mommy what you were doing in the water, huh? Should we go down and explore while we wait for Daddy?”
“Want Daddy to come back.” You pouted, the sudden reminder of Natasha’s absence falling heavily on your sensitive heart. Wanda smiled sympathetically, caressing your cheeks with delicate affection.
“Daddy will be back soon, my little love. Come on, up you get.” Wanda gently eased you off of her lap, taking your hand in hers the second her feet were planted on the hot sand. She grimaced slightly, unprepared for the coarse granules to be so warm beneath the soles of her feet, but she didn’t let it deter her. Instead, it only hastened her speed, and you giggled as she pulled you along the beach, weaving in and out of families and couples that lingered on the shorelines.
You must’ve been down in the water for nearly an hour and a half, splashing at Wanda and diving into her chest whenever a wave rolled through and rocked you into her, the sun truly beginning to fall beneath the tide now and turn the sky a breathtaking sight of divine orange and sweet pink around you. Your hair was a tousled mess on top of your head, held out of your face by a hair tie that was surely knotted in place by now. The Sokovian would have to meticulously untangle it before you fell into bed, but that was always something she adored doing, and you enjoyed it just as much. You whined when her playful ministrations came to an abrupt end, her fingers no longer digging into your ribs as she tickled you in the waist deep water that splashed and lapped at your upper torso. Her eyes had been searching the shorelines for any sign of Natasha since you’d ventured into the abyss of salt water, but now they narrowed in on one thing, something that you hadn’t noticed just yet.
When you did notice, Wanda’s soft fingers tilting your head in the direction of the beige and blue umbrella, you booked it to shore without so much as a glance back at her. Natasha had seen your attack coming from a mile away, and had somehow been prepared for it when your body crashed into hers, your lips, soft from the granules of sand that you had face planted into a couple of times, peppering kisses on any inch of exposed skin that you could reach. She laughed, pulling you away only to connect your lips in a soft embrace. When Wanda caught up to you, you’d piled in on the towels, eating ice cream as you watched the sun fall further and further beneath the blanket of endless murky blue water. The shorelines of Jersey weren’t marvelously blue like the coast of Florida or the Maldives, but they were perfect for the simple moments you yearned to share with both Wanda and Natasha.
When ice creams were finished, yours the last to be scraped clean of soft pink goodness, Wanad had forced you still as she wiped off your face and hands, softly reprimanding you as you whined and tried to wiggle away. How you’d gotten ice cream on both your cheeks and your nose, she wasn’t entirely sure because she had watched you use a spoon the entire time, but still your face was sticky and she doted on you lovingly all while Natasha began to pack away all of your belongings.
You’d walked to the beach, pulling along a little cart that held the umbrella and the beach bag and cooler, and that morning it hadn’t seemed like a far stretch, but as darkness covered Westview entirely and the long day of playing and vulnerability caught up with you, it felt endless. When you finally passed Agatha’s house, your feet dragging against the sidewalk as you held onto Naasha’s hand firmly (well more like she held onto you because you had a tendency to wander off anytime something caught your attention), your were absolutely certain that it  had probably been at least twenty years, although Wanda would say it had only been twenty minutes and that was only because you kept stopping to whine and complain about being sleepy before Natasha started dragging you along again.
When you slipped inside of the house, the airconditioning sent a shiver down your side, and instinctively you stepped closer to Natasha, seeking out the warmth of her sun kissed body. Natasha hums, smiling softly down at you, taking in the sight of your pink cheeks and tired smiles. Wanda had pulled the cart into the garage to be dealt with tomorrow, and when she returned, she merely grabbed both yours and Natasha’s hands and guided you upstairs, where pajamas were picked out, and towels for the shower were grabbed. The water was warm as it cascaded down your body, and Wanda’s fingers were soft as she rubbed soap against your skin and scrubbed sand from your hair. Natasha stayed clinging to you whenever Wanda wasn’t working on getting you clean, only fully separating when she wanted to be the one to rub strawberry scented body wash across her wifes body. It was a soft encounter, one full of delicate praise and affection, and slowly they were easing you deeper down, farther than they’d done that morning before you set off for the shore.
Miraculously, the pajamas you’d picked for bed were a matching set, and one of your very own. The button up top was a soft blue color, printed with dusty white clouds and the smallest yellow duckling embroidered on the bottom left side. Natasha had done that for you one night, wanting to practice her skills, and while it was rather wonky and a little unproportional, you loved rubbing your fingers over the stitches as you fell asleep. She and Wanda had on the same style set, although Wanda’s were black and Natasha’s were a deep olive green. They matched in their own ways, and you couldn’t help but feel like they were so indicative of your differing personalities.
Wanda had you sit at the vanity so she could brush out your hair and get it braided for you, all while Natasha rambled on the other side of the room, telling you and Wanda about the woman that had stood in front of her at the ice cream parlor and had decided to sample every single flavor, only to not get anything and walk out with a fuss. Wanda laughed, but you were too sleepy to really pay attention, your head falling backwards until it landed against her sternum delicately, your eyes closed and your breathing light as she secured the last braid together.
“Come on, sweetheart. Lets get you all comfy in bed.” She cooed softly, not giving you a second to protest before she was guiding you to the bed that Natasha was already laying in. You crawled into the middle, your head falling onto the Russian’s chest with practiced ease before your hand reached out to hold onto Wanda’s. “Get comfy, baby. Mommy’s right here.”
“Mommy.” You mumbled, eyes barely open, head resting heavily on Natasha’s chest as you listened to the rhythmic beating of her heart.
“Shh, sleep baby. Mommy will be here tomorrow.” Wanda gently laid her other hand on your belly, her thumb slipping between the buttons that fastened your top, rubbing soft circles on your skin. It was only a handful of minutes before you were asleep, soft sighs slipping off of your lips as you snuggled closer to her warmth.
“Such a Mommy’s girl.” Natasha laughed softly, brushing her thumb against your cheek before Wanda swatted her hand away, not wanting her soft affection to wake you up already.
“You should’ve seen the near meltdown she had when you left for ice cream. I’d say you have yourself a little Daddy’s girl too. She just likes to push my buttons more than yours.” Wanda snorted softly, twisting onto her side, slowly pulling her hand off of your belly to instead intertwine her fingers with Natasha’s.
“Oh don’t I know it. I can’t say I blame her either.” Natasha’s smirk was taunting, and Wanda rolled her eyes fondly.
“Watch yourself, detka. There are plenty of other rooms in this house where I can remind you of who’s in charge. Or, maybe I should just take you here and make you be quiet. After all, I would hate to leave you unsatisfied if your desperate moans were to wake her up.” Wanda warned whimsically, and Natasha’s cheeks, already pink from the sun, grew crimson, her sudden silence a telling feature of her submission. “That’s what I thought.” Wanda tutted, getting her own body comfortable on the large bed you shared.
“I love you.” Natasha whispered into the silence, her thumb rubbing patterns on Wanda’s cold hand.
“I love you.” Wanda whispered back before she turned her attention to you, peacefully sleeping, unaware of the banter that happened over your head. “I love you, moya utenok.”

(i only have) eyes for you
Tumblr media
18+. mdni. smut. violence! horror themes throughout!! ghostface!eddie
day seven of spooky week and happy halloween freaks!!! i can’t believe i did it… seven days of consistent posting has taken genuine years off of my life lol. pls pretend they’re in college for this, i wrote it entirely that way and then decided they were going to be in steve’s house.. who knows
a/n: i listened to this song a lot while writing this because it is so creepy but so perfect for this fic! this was sorta kinda rushed but i’ve been working this entire week so finding the time to really delve into it the way i wanted to :,(
⛧☾༺♰༻☽⛧
tap tap tap
the sound of something, or really someone rattles against your window, the faint sounds of someone whistling follow shortly after.
despite being wise to eddie’s tricks, the ominous tune makes your skin prickle, too spooked by the news of some masked murderer to think straight.
your window cracks open, the wooden frame scraping upwards loudly, a prolonged creak that signals that whatever it was, was now inside.
his cologne gives him away first, and then the lingering smell of weed that catches up to your nose soon after.
it was eddie, basking in the moonlight, just waiting for you to turn and see him.
“oh my fucking god,” you hiss, “you scared the shit out of me!” scowling as he pulls his limbs through the window.
he wastes no time in kicking off his shoes and practically diving across the room to land atop of you. his heaving chest pressed against yours, finding your frowning lips for a gentle kiss.
“‘m sorry sweetheart,” pouting his lips in an attempt to mock your worried tone, eddie found it endearing really, that you cared about him so.
“there’s a murderer out there, you know?” you scold.
“mhm, is there?”
“yes,” dropping the stern expression the second his hands find the hem of your shirt, delving underneath to grasp your waist, “and i’d really appreciate if you didn’t die.”
“i’m not gonna die,” he says entirely too confidently, “and neither are you.”
“what were you doing out there?”
“i had to.. do some business,” hoping you’d get the hint.
your upper lip snarls, having never liked the fact he dealt on the side. it was mostly a bit of weed to freshmen but the weekends were always busier. “oh,” you huff, running your hands along his sore shoulders.
“you asked,” eddie states plainly. it wasn’t as if he was entirely lying, because he had dropped off a gram for some useless kid.
he had just neglected to tell you what he and steve had done to the kid afterwards.
your eyes roll back, running your fingers up his neck and into his mane of hair, “i wish i hadn’t,” though judging by the fact that you hadn’t kicked him out, you can’t be too mad.
eddie hums, desperately trying to change the subject by trailing his hand further upwards, palming your boob with a soft groan.
“and what if i told you that i was the scary killer?” his knee shifts slightly, moving on top of yours to keep it pressed to the mattress. he’s got you trapped beneath his body, his large hands enveloping both of your wrists.
if you didn’t know eddie so well, you probably would’ve been much more afraid than you were. but you do know him, this had to be some stupid prank, something he’d thought up while high. so you do what he wants you to do and play into it. if he wants to pretend that he’s a weirdo then fine, you can play that game too.
“oh yeah?” you smirk, a feeble attempt to wriggle out of his grasp, “what’re you gonna do to me, mr ghostface?” rutting your hips up to meet his, sighing softly when you feel his hardened cock.
the fact that you’re even into this is simply abhorrent but you can already feel the wet patch growing in your panties, needly bucking your hips desperate for any friction to satiate the growing ache between your thighs.
he chuckles lowly, readjusting his grip on your wrists, leaving one hand pinning them both above your head, “well first..” his breath hot on your cheeks, “i’m going to fuck the shit out of you.” his pupils grow larger, darker somehow, “and then..” prodding his forefinger to your chest, slowly tracing down the length of your torso, “i might just gut you,” his eyes follow his finger all the way down.
you quiver under his touch, breathless. holy fuck. it’s disgusting. it is. but you can’t help yourself, practically panting with animalistic need. it’s not like he was actually going to kill you see, eddie was a lot of things, but he wasn’t a murderer.
“please,” you beg, squirming as his hand slips into the waistband of your jeans. he’s so cold, fingers like blocks of ice that make your skin prickle.
“you want that? hmm?”
you’re gasping at this point, pleading with him to just touch you. he had gotten what he’d wanted from this game so why couldn’t he hurry up? you’re literally jelly beneath him, malleable and just so eager to touch.
“gotta use your words baby.. i wanna hear you,” pausing his descent into your underwear, much to your dismay. legs springing apart as a sort of encouragement to get him to continue.
“yes.. yes i want that,” desperately panting underneath his sly smirk, he’s enjoying this far too much and you can’t help but to just give it to him. so desperate to please, even if it was borderline psychotic.
“good,” he breathes, curling his fingers around the waistband of your sodden underwear. his teeth emerging to graze upon your neck, making sure to leave splotches of violet and deep maroon so that everybody knew whose you really were.
your hips cant upward the second eddie’s fingers tease your hole, crying out for him to cut the shit and just touch you properly. he was a cruel man, unable to satisfy himself with any normal level of foreplay, no. for eddie, he needed to keep this charade up for as long as possible.
“you been thinkin’ ‘bout me?” using his other hand to control your chin, keeping your flickering gaze somewhat on his face, “waiting f’me all night.. i can feel it,” plunging his fingers into your sopping cunt, drawing a sharp hiss from your lips.
“think about you all the time,” you nod, whimpering against his mouth, keeping a strong grip on his neck.
eddie grins, the twinkle returning to his dark eye, letting the charade slip only slightly, “i know you do, and i know it because you never.. ever leave my mind,” his thumb beginning to swirl around your clit, letting go of your jaw to wrap his hands loosely around your neck instead.
“fuckk,” you shudder, canting your hips in response to his fingers gliding in and out of your hole, thumb performing laps around your clit and sensitive folds.
“you’re so beautiful like this,” he utters, dotting hungry kisses to your wetted lips, punctuating his longing words. “i just wanna keep you like this forever,” the hunger returning to his blown out pupils, fingers squeezing your throat.
he wouldn’t hurt you, not on purpose. but his grip was getting mighty tight, restricting your breath as your leg slides up between his. the twisting in your abdomen only worsens, dizzying as the pleasure intensifies.
squeezing out a garbled, “eds,” that makes him loosen his grip, flashing back to reality as you squeeze around his fingers, thrashing around underneath his body as your orgasm rocks your bones, the sweetest sounds fill the room.
“that’s it sweetheart,” eddie coos, sliding his hand from your shorts to grasp your hip, kissing over his previously made markings.
“i love you,” muttering breathlessly as you regain control of your limbs.
he breathes heavily into your neck, cocking his head up to meet your gaze, “i love you too,” beaming at your lovesick gaze, praying to god that you’d never find out about the horrific things he was truly doing tonight.
-
eddie’s idea of date night usually entails him being able to whisk you off somewhere dark and alone at some point during the night. so when you’d suggested a drive-in movie, he’d been positively over the moon.
he’d thought seeing a nightmare on elm street was a little on the nose considering the shit he’d been up to recently but you couldn’t know and besides, it meant you’d be curled into his shoulder for the majority of the movie anyway.
you sit now, with your face buried into his shoulder, both arms clinging tight to his.
not because of the movie though. no, this was because his right hand had crept underneath your skirt, pumping his fingers in and out of your soaked hole.
it wasn’t as if every other couple weren’t doing the exact same thing, it was an unspoken custom of the drive-in experience.
“wait,” you pant, “let me-,” letting go to reach down, pushing your seat further back. your fingers curl around something plastic, reemerging with the damning mask he’d shoved beneath the seat. “what the fuck is this?” you shriek, sitting straight up.
eddie’s blood runs cold, frozen as you flap the plastic mask in his face. it wasn’t even supposed to be in here, let alone for you to find so easily.
“oh my god,” he sighs, thinking on his toes, “it was for a prank,” grabbing the rubber from your fingers, “me and steve were gonna scare argyle and jonathan… it’s not what you think babe,” hoping that measly excuse would be enough to get you off of his back.
“a prank?” you hiss, “is that funny to you? pretending to be some psycho murderer?” funnily enough, he didn’t really have to pretend.
“no!” he frowns, pettily grabbing at the mask though you keep it out of reach, “that’s why we didn’t do it,” sounding completely desperate as he’s lying through his teeth, “sweetheart, i know what it looks like but i promise it’s not like that,” the guilt ripples through his chest, he didn’t want to lie to you but what choice did he have?
you frown, gripping the cracked plastic as if it could tell you the answer itself, “that’s not funny eddie,” lowering your clenched fist at last, “what if someone had seen you? what if someone else found this?”
you’re angry, it doesn’t take a genius to figure it out. pupils dilated and your jaw clenched, he couldn’t bare to ever see you like this. god only knows how you’d react if you ever found out he was truly responsible for these killings.
“i’m sorry,” utterly exasperated, you couldn’t find out, not now, not ever. “i wasn’t thinking.. i’ve just been-,” his nostrils flare, hoping you could forget about this and quickly, “thinking about everyone dying, you know? i’m scared,” grabbing your hands to really accentuate his point.
“we’re all scared, eds,” his nickname allowing him to breathe at last, you’d never use eds when you were mad, never. “that doesn’t mean you should start pretending to kill people too, you’re so.. stupid,” said endearingly, far calmer than you were five minutes ago.
“i know.. i’m sorry baby,” squeezing your fingers together, “i love you, okay?”
your pout could solve wars, an immediate punch to his gut that had him instantly crawling on his knees for forgiveness. it’s no different now, jutting your bottom lip out with a slight quiver, vowing him to never make such a stupid mistake again.
-
eddie drives this time, rushing back from the large house they’d been at. he doesn’t even know the kids name, he just knows his spleen no longer resided within his gut.
this one was his idea, some kid that’d stiffed him for a couple grams a few months ago. stupid stuff really, but they’d needed to throw the cops off the scent.
“so,” steve begins, pulling eddie from his head, “you still wanna do this?”
he didn’t, not really. not while you were there.
“i don’t see any other way we can end this,” he sighs, turning onto the darkened street, “it has to end,” you were getting too wise, thumbing at the scratch marks on his arm or questioning why he was always out so late recently.
nothing would ever be worth losing you. not in a million years.
“alright,” steve pouts, enjoying this far more than he first let on, “what’re you gonna do about that sweet girlfriend of yours? i think we should spook her first, really up the stakes,” bouncing around the cab of the van.
“absolutely not, don’t even think about getting her involved with this shit,” baring his teeth, appalled that steve would ever even suggest something like that. you were all wide spoke about, filling up his thoughts even as he was driving a knife into the back of jason carver.
“whaat? you don’t even wanna scare her a little? make her squirm,” his smirk evident in his tone.
“i mean it steve,” eddie warns, flashing the boy a harsh glare, “if you touch her, i’ll kill you.”
the car goes silent for a moment until steve cackles, his grin shining through, “not if i kill you first.”
eddie’s blood runs cold, they could end this entire thing right now if that was what he wanted. his knuckles glow white, gripping the steering wheel as opposed to wrapping his hands around steve’s neck, “are you fucking serious?” spitting his words out, “because i’ll do it steve, i won’t fucking hesitate.”
steve pauses, trying to control his heaving breaths, “calm down loverboy, i’m not gonna hurt her,” sucking his teeth as if eddie were the crazed one here, like he hadn’t just been speaking complete sense.
“don’t even joke about that shit,” slapping his hand against the leather steering wheel, “fucking dumbass, i can’t believe you,” looking to steve with utter disbelief in his eye.
“chill out man,” steve calms, relaxing into the seat, “i’m not gonna do anything, wouldn’t wanna piss you off now, would i?”
-
eddie had thought the entire night through, every second meticulously planned so that you’d never end up in the crossfire. he just needed your willing cooperation and reassurance that his partner in crime wouldn’t lose his mind.
the last, he can’t promise.
steve had been more erratic than ever, obvious that letting go of this power wasn’t anything he wanted. eddie doesn’t know how he can live with the guilt, but then, steve didn’t look into your bright eyes each night and feel that same stab of betrayal he did.
he takes your hand now, leading you up the steep staircase and into the bathroom, under the guise of getting away from the noise, locking the door behind him as you stand at the sink, only slightly concerned.
“what’s this for?” dipping your chin when his hands meet your waist, pressing your back against the cold porcelain.
“i just wanted to.. get away,” eddie remarks, knowing that any minute now, all hell would break loose downstairs and he’d have to stab the shit out of people he called his friend.
“oh yeah? that’s all you wanted me in here for?” walking your fingers up his chest, settling on his shoulder.
“well,” letting his grin cock to the side, “what do you suggest we do in here?”
you hum, a sweet sound that makes his heart race, “i think we could start with a bit of kissing and then.. see where it goes,” weaving your fingers into his hair, bringing his face closer.
“i like the sound of that,” he coos, but the guilt is unimaginable, your oblivious smile soon to be wiped off your face and it’ll be all his fault.
your lips connect in a harmonious symphony, he can feel your smile radiating against his skin, your fingertips tracing light lines on his scalp, a motion that would usually soothe him has him anxious instead.
he so terribly wants to stay here for the duration of the night, or at least until steve had pushed his luck too far and ended up dead.
but that can’t happen, without eddie, this wouldn’t end.
you shift closer, pressing your body to his with a hum, hoping to turn this into something more that he just can’t give right now.
as if by magic, there’s a loud thud from downstairs, a blood curdling scream that echoes through the walls follows behind. your eyes full of pure dread meet his when you spring apart.
“what the fuck was that?” tightening your grip on the back of his neck.
“i.. don’t know,” a barefaced lie, “i’m gonna go and check it out, alright?” coming eye-to-eye with you, a plea of the highest order.
“what? are you fucking crazy?”
“stay here,” he orders, kindly slipping your bra strap back onto your shoulder, “lock the door after me and don’t come out.”
“no! don’t leave me in here,” true terror ringing through your words. he wishes he could tell you that you truly have nothing to worry about. not like the rest of them.
“you’ll be okay,” eddie soothes, grabbing your hand, “i promise,” his thumb tracing patterns onto your wrist.
“please come back quickly,” pleading with him not to go, your fingers shaking as they grasp his arm.
“i will,” pressing his forehead to yours, giving one last squeeze before he breaks apart, “promise,” slipping out of the door, only waiting to hear the quiet click of the lock before scuffling along to steve’s room.
his outfit had been stored in steve’s closet, the dark robe and rubbery mask that had now become dark and cracked. something about the fabric cascading over his skin had him more confident than anything, forgetting all about who was killing, unfazed by their distant screams.
he tiptoes down the stairs, careful not to bump into any stragglers, the knife poised in his hand when he hits the kitchen, fingers twitching around the handle ready to slash whoever came out first.
something squeals from behind the door, giving away their location immediately, some girl steve had tried to fuck, an obvious victim, someone quick and easy, someone you wouldn’t care about too much.
the knife plunges into her side, the dark red liquid spurting out and all over the linoleum floor, he’s sure steve’s dad wouldn’t care too much.
steve stomps through the kitchen, eyeing the scene before nodding to eddie, gesturing he follow him into the living room. it’s a silent affair, they could never know who was listening.
but eddie does as he’s told, walking in to find a barely-breathing tommy hagan, his hand reaching out pathetically as his eyelids flutter and his lungs fill with blood. eddie’s never liked him, he certainly wouldn’t be sad to see him go.
after the house is emptied, steve was to dress tommy in his robe and mask, plant the knife in his fist and call the police. they’d rehearsed it a thousand times, how steve would slash himself with his knife and eddie would scurry back up to the bathroom with you, waiting until the cops came to get you.
steve’s laugh echoes through the quiet house, maniacal as he drives his blade into tommy’s gut, his last attempts at protesting come out as squeaks before the couch turns a deep red and the sputtering comes to a sudden stop.
but eddie doesn’t want to play that game.
steve was too sporadic, untrustworthy and downright stupid, if he were to be honest. who’s to say he’d never turn on eddie? kill him or worse, you? eddie couldn’t trust him, the boy was out of it, drunk on the power it gave him.
so instead of doing anything they’d rehearsed, eddie forces the knife into steve’s chest, quickly taking it out to drive another jab into his throat, deafening his screams. steve’s eyes full of confusion, a lingering look of betrayal that makes his chest sting, if only for a second.
his body thuds as it hits the floor, a garbled sound full of air escape his throat, an anguished cry that vaguely resembles eddie.
he stares down at his accomplices twitching body, a sadness twinging his heart. steve would undoubtedly still be alive if he hadn’t been stupid enough to start joking about hurting you, all he’d had to do was keep his mouth shut and let the night play out.
but he hadn’t. desperate to make some edgy joke that now lead to him bleeding out on his living room floor.
eddie clears his throat, unwilling to dwell on his emotions for too long. he had to dress tommy and find the phone. there was too much at stake now to let steve ruin this from beyond the grave.
out of the corner of his eye he spots that same glittering top that he’d left locked in the bathroom. he can’t believe you’d been stupid enough to come out of there. why you couldn’t just listen to him for once was completely beyond him.
he bounds along behind you, esnuring that absolutely nobody was skulking around the grand house before clamping one hand over your mouth, the other snaking around your hip to bring you to the cold, wooden floor.
you scream against his palm, vibrating the skin with your pleas for help. eyes wide and watering as they meet the mask, he’s not surprised, for all you know, the knife in his hand was going straight into your side next.
he straddles your waist, keeping your pressed into the floor and not a problem for him, “shh.. sh-shut up,” he hushes, ensuring that the hall really was empty before he revealed his identity.
the thrashing stops, stilling as the cogs slowly turn and his voice becomes familiar, a blood-chilling flash of hurt overtakes your fearful eyes instead.
bile rises in his throat, sick to his stomach with the fact that he could do this to you, make you so scared of him.
“it’s me, it’s me sweetheart,” frantically trying to get you to calm down, to maybe not be so angry at him when this was all over. “promise not to scream and i’ll let go,” itching to take his gloved hand from your mouth, to prove his love.
you nod hopelessly, flashing him an expression that he really can’t place, somewhere between terror, disgust and relief.
he does as he promised, removing his hand from your mouth to slide the mask up, hoping that maybe seeing his face would help, would make you not hate him.
“baby.. it’s not- i can explain everything to you, i just need..” panting his words, scrambling for some kind of excuse to get you back to safety, “you have to listen to me, okay? you trust me, don’t you?”
your face says anything but, watching your bottom lip tremble makes him fume, so incredibly pissed off that he was capable of this.
“please,” eddie begs, pleads even, “i’d never.. ever hurt you, you know that, right?”
“i.. i trust you,” the words squeaked rather than spoken, accompanied by salty streams falling down your cheeks.
he nods, daring to lift his mask. maybe eye contact would make you comfortable, “i’m gonna take you back to the bathroom.. okay? wait for me.. i’ll be five minutes, yeah?” running his knuckles over your mascara stained cheek, “and then i’ll tell you everything,” his tone reeking of desperation.
much to his surprise, and utter delight, you lean into his hand, nodding with your pitiful trembling lip, “okay.. okay,” so innocent, totally unassuming about what he was going to admit to.
eddie clambers off of your body, offering his hand out and praying to whichever god would listen to make sure you wouldn’t run.
you don’t, of course you don’t. taking his hand as you climb up off of the floor, shoulders slumped over as you allow him to move you down the hallway, a gentle hand resting on your waist as you go.
“five minutes baby.. i’ll be back,” he reassures for the hundredth time, “promise me you’ll stay here this time?”
you nod, grabbing his hand just to feel his skin on yours, “i love you,” so sickly sweet he almost forgets what he had to do. but he had to do this for you, or he’d never hear that again.
“i love you too,” with full sincerity, letting the door shut between you as he continues his mission, sprinting back to the living room to get tommy in his clothes and shake any hints of evidence off of himself.
tommy’s heavier than he once anticipated, his lifeless body proving hard to contort into different clothes.
but he does it, dropping the knife on the couch next to his body, giving steve one last sympathetic glance before barrelling down the hallway to the bathroom, pummelling his fist against the door.
he hopes you’ll understand, you had to. everything he did, he did it with you in mind.
his fist pummels against the wood, relief washing over his body when he hears the tiny click that lets him inside and confirms that you didn’t hate him. you trusted him, completely, just as he thought.
eddie’s quick to lock it again, even while knowing the killer was inside of the room with you, the other strewn dead across the floor in a pool of his own blood.
before he can even breath long enough to curate his explanation, the echoing sound of shouting and footsteps fill the house, the cops forcing their way inside and discovering the scene.
the bathroom door splinters, eddie’s arms shielding you from the crossfire of wood. it’s the police, flashlights pointing right at your horrified faces, sharing concerned glances between one another.
“we’ve got two confirmed alive,” one of them squawks into his radio, a fuzzy crackle coming back.
“eddie? eddie munson? we’d like to speak to you about your friend, steve harrington.”

“what’s your favorite book?”
spencer looked away from his open files to turn in his chair to see you standing behind him, a couple of manila folders held close to your baby blue long sleeve dress shirt. he had to keep his eyes from dropping lower to get a glance at the curves that hugged to your black pants.
he coughed as he blinked a few times behind his glasses, “uh, well there’s- there’s too many to choose from. if you’re asking about general literature i’d probably say-“
you held a hand out with a shaky smile, “sorry. don’t mean to interrupt. but um, i’m asking if there’s a book or story that’s very meaningful full for you.”
spencer straightened his mouth, feeling it form into that usual line. he let his mind scour for a moment, “uh maybe… alice in wonderland. my mom used to read it as a bed time story from time to time in between narnia and fifteenth century literature. she used to read me valentines poems.”
he saw your brows raise for a moment, “that’s sweet. which did she recite the most?” you readjusted the files.
spencer tapped his fingers over his thighs, “mostly chaucer’s parlement of foules. The poem, which is in the form of a dream vision in rhyme royal stanza, contains one of the earliest references to the idea that St. Valentine's Day is a special day for lovers…” he stopped short when he saw a bored expression draping your face. “sorry, rambling.”
your eyes widen and you took a step closer, “no, no. you’re fine. your voice soothes me, probably looked a bit drowsy.”
spencer scrunched his face, “most people would look tired cause i’m boring them to sleep.” he saw your face fall at his words, he didn’t like the sight.
“well i like hearing your information. i find what you know quite fascinating, like last week you told me that flamingos feathers are actually white or pale gray, but appear pink cause of algae and shrimp. i would’ve never know that.” your smile pushed your cheeks, pupils beaming alight as he felt them ghostly tracing his face.
bashful your eyes directed to your feet, “i enjoyed our date last week.” moving some fingers to run behind your ear, “i’ve always wanted to visit the planetarium, but never found the time.”
spencer smiled fondly, “i’m glad i was able to get you the chance. sometimes they do thirty minute segments on each zodiac sign, it’s when i see a lot of ‘psychics’.”
you chuckled lightly, spencer’s grin widened. “i should take you to one for fun. just to test how real they are.”
he couldn’t help rolling his eyes, “don’t waste your money.” you shrugged simply, “could be a fun third date. she can verify that we’re a match.” giving your upper body a slight twisting at the waist.
before spencer could say anything in reply, you both turned to see hotch calling you from his upper office. “shit, forgot i had to drop these off. i’ll see you later.” and you stepped into his space to lean in an leave a kiss to his forehead. he could feel the residue of your fading gloss. he was happy there wasn’t many people in the bullpen, he didn’t want to deal with morgan’s teasing right now.
the only possible person to have witnessed that display would be hotch. “reid, a word,” his stern voice causing him to flinch in his seat. he quickly made his way up the steps and into the office, closing the door behind him and standing beside you with his hands behind his back. he wasn’t planning to have this conversation a month early.
“is there something you both would like to inform me on?” hotch letting either of you confirm your new relationship instead of assuming.
“uh,” you started to say before spencer interrupted more confidently, “y/n and i are currently seeing each other. it’s only been about two months.” he turned to you, eyes locking and both of you smiled at each other, “but i’d like to believe this will last awhile.”
“well,” hotch cleared his throat, “since you’ve probably read through the handbook spencer, there isn’t anything wrong with fraternization between employees. i would just need both of you to fill out some paperwork.”
you both nodded in agreement. “and please, try not to let this distract you in the field. otherwise you’ll have to be in separate rooms, hotel and assignments.”
“yes sir,” giving a playful salute as he dismissed you both. you decided to pull spencer by his hand in the direction of your, shared office, already knowing jj was busy elsewhere.
“i hope that was-“ you spun into spencer, palms on his cheeks as your lips pressed onto his. he went still for a moment, but you knew he just needed a second to process. his fingers curled along your hips, his warmth seeping through your fabric and onto your skin.
you sighed into his mouth as he worked your lips apart, taking the lead he moved both of you further into the office. your thighs hit the edge, a small gasping allowing for spencer to boldly slip his tongue into your mouth, your heart was pumping in your ears.
if you weren’t in the office you’d let your greedy fingers start to work at unbuttoning his shirt, but instead you were stopped short when someone groaned out, “holy shit!”
spencer was the first to jump away and you saw that penelope and jj were at the threshold with jaws dropped and bugged eyes. “you freaky love birds!” penelope screeched.
“i need to burn this room,” jj groaned as she turned on her heels.
