Once upon a time, someone told me I talked too much about a freshly born oc ship in our large but personal roleplay community and that it was getting on peoples nerves and ever since then I don't talk about stuff on main or in a group setting anymore unless I'm asked. (Or in this blog's case, It MUST be accompanied by a piece of art... or Ive wasted people's time.) My parents have also been like this to me, vocally, but that's... different lmfao they are another can of worms.

I don't think about this person begrudgingly - because I think we all get to this point. Look inside yourself and ask if you've ever come -pinches fingers- this close to vagueing in a tag or on anon. Most of the time we are able to not do it! Some people slip, its okay, its human. But it absolutely has affected the way I interface with fandom, with my own content/ocs, its why I rarely text post its why I never blurb except when asked or prompted. It's why I get testy when I feel like my vision is overlooked or misrepresented - which unfortunately happens just as much as I fear it does. That could BE my fault, for not putting my foot down and talking about my creativity analytically other than physical evidence of motifs or whatever. It also applies to why I don't share headcanons for things that aren't my intellectual property. I don't want to be seen as annoying, I don't want to be contradictory when I'm pretty accepting of a lot of headcanons.. most of the time. When we are on the same level of give and take then it never matters anyways, right? Like... I'm not scared of being wrong I literally speak in malaphors on the regular. I'll admit I get a little worn out with the oversaturation of something, especially when its new* because god forbid people get excited about anything, but it's never so personal that I would say "yeah I wish you would stop posting about xyz" lol. As my closest companions have come to know me my typical outlet for this frustration is to draw more of what I want to see instead. The person aforementioned I think... meant well too but... you should be able to notice my ratio of pictures to writing/hyping myself up without artwork is disproportionate. I have a remarkable amount of people that are interested in my things - my ubetellas my mte198x my tobagoverse my furries even haha! Its nice. Im glad I do something that a few people like. Anyways I would love to see an actual therapist about this but yall get to be my audience today. This happens every other summer like clockwork with or without hunger or triggering events lol.

Are you going to riotfest? I'm in Chicago and I've never gone but I am frothing at the mouth to see MCR and so it's Happening except I've never actually been to a concert or music festival and I have no idea what I'm doing. Help. How do I like...navigate a giant situation I have no framework for. Tips?

i am going to riot fest!!!

so ive never been to riot, and really the only event ive been to that is sort of comparable in size is warped tour - so please take all advice given here with a grain of salt<3 (also seasoned and semi seasoned riot veterans who follow me please chime in with ur opinions). the fact that you’ve never been to a concert is WILD to me and im so excited this is going to be ur first one it’s going to be GREAT. you’re already in a decent situation in that you are from Chicago so you are on home turf - however: here are the various things i can think of right now that you should consider, which i have attempted to put into some kind of order. apologies for how long this is. 

1. How are you getting to Riot? - Walking? Uber? Driving? Train?  -- driving probably is a bad idea because of parking logistics, but I am no Chicago expert.  

2. What is your planned arrival time?  - Coordinate this with your planned method of transportation. This can mean considering traffic, train times, walking distance, or uber surcharges.  -- Please see #4a for more contingences. 

3. What is your planned departure time?  - MCR are headlining their night, so you will be leaving pretty late. Last year, headliners sets went until 10pm. Coordinate this fact with how you will be getting home.  -- SAFETY TIP: It’s good practice to let somebody at home, or a friend of yours, know when you plan to leave the festival, and when you plan to arrive home, so somebody will notice if something is amiss. Communicate this information accordingly. This goes double if you plan to be drinking or otherwise intoxicated. 

4. Prepare for and plan your day.  4a. Some things to consider: Riot fest starts around noon, and ends around 10pm, and is an outdoor festival. Are you comfortable being there for the full 10 hours, or will you want to arrive closer to MCR’s set? Will you need to find somewhere to sit? Do you have any mobility aids or service animals you will need to account for? (Please see here on the riot fest website for more details) How comfortable are you in various weather scenarios? Have an honest conversation with yourself about what you are up for - the last thing we want is you having to leave before MCRs set.  4b. Make a rough schedule of where you’ll want to be throughout the day. Last year, the full line up dropped on May 14th, and the day-by-day lineup dropped the following week. The schedule/set-times didn’t drop until September, though, which gives you plenty of time to think about what bands you might want to see. You can consult Riot’s website closer to the festival, and carve out a schedule for yourself so you don’t feel overwhelmed about where you want to be, when. Do you plan to meet up with anybody at the festival? Try to get their contact info before hand, and come up with a place to meet if possible, so you aren’t wandering around looking for one another.  4c. Double check your tickets - what type of ticket did you buy? Does your ticket class allow re-entry? What bathrooms can you use? Do you have to pick up your tickets at will-call? These are all important things to make note of.  4d. What are your plans for post-riot? Riot puts on various afterparties across the city (Here are 2021′s examples on their website) If you plan to attend one of those, make sure you coordinate tickets and transportation. 

5.  Day-of Prep 5a. Wake up with time to spare in alignment with when you want to arrive at Riot. Eat a nutritious breakfast, and hydrate. 5b. Get dressed. I won’t tell you where to draw the line between a cute outfit and something practical, but keep in mind various weather situations, how long you will be on your feet and moving around, and your general comfort.  5c. Gather items you may need. These may include: A portable phone charger, sunscreen, bugspray, medications, a camelbak or other waterbottle, blanket, a backpack, ID, cash/card, or any other number of items. The full list of items allowed/not allowed at riot can be found on their website here.  - If you plan to buy merch, I would consider bringing a bag of some sort, so you don’t have to carry it around all day. That is so annoying to have to do.  -- don’t bring anything you don’t need and can’t deal with having stolen. sometimes people are shitty, and the larger a group of people is, the more likely somebody shitty is going to be there waiting to fuck your day up. Consider a fanny pack, zipper pockets, or flipbelt to protect your phone, money, and other personal items from said shitty thieves.  6. Go forth and rock out 6a. Have fun at the festival, and take care of yourself! Make sure you stay hydrated and eat some food, take breaks when you need to, and don’t be afraid to leave a crowd/pit/etc if you need to. Taking care of your body is punk rock as fuck.  6b. Take photos or videos if you want to, but also try to enjoy the moment! I wrote you a whole guide here so I’m allowing myself an old man tangent but being on your phone the whole time at a show is honestly fucking lame. Record a bit of your favorite song, or take photos of the stage set up prior - but try to enjoy the show as it happens in front of you. /oldmantangent. sorrynotsorry.  6c. Did you make post-festival plans? Are you meeting up with anybody? Go finish your night!!  6d. Go home and sleep HARD, because you are going to be exhausted.  - honestly, if i were you, I would take the next day after the festival off from work/school, etc. You’re probably going to be exhausted, and you deserve to have fun without worrying about when you are going to have to get up the next morning.

I'm good but ive been having a rough time socially. im trying to navigate a balance of giving my time to my friends/family/romantic prospects Whatever bc I owe that to them, and because it's part of growing up and being a young adult, while also trying to face the real fact that I am deeply exhausted emotionally, physically, mentally, etc. etc. and I love being alone. and there are not enough hours in a day for me to do this stuff AND eat three meals and clean and like have hobbies or just time to myself. or SLEEP. but I can't say no to people because I don't want to disappoint them. and I have been ending up in situations with various people in the last couple of weeks that have made me uncomfortable because I wasn't honest or forthright. idk. writing this out it makes me sound self-involved because im like I just have too many people that want to hang out with me </3 but for this and other reasons im going to start seeing a therapist next week for the first time ever which is so surprising even after typing it out I had to fact check w myself

thanks for asking about work! last week was 6 months since I started and I couldn't believe it bc it has went by so quickly. every day is exciting and new. im never ever ever bored. also shes paying for my certification program that im enrolled in rn so im like. roped in another good 2-3 years at least. I have NO clue on how my go-back-to-school-eventually plans are going to work into this. but no workplace drama! except now its just me and my boss because my coworker John (doubles as my boss's best friend) very much did NOT like the work but I loved HIM and it was so fun to have him around for the last couple of months. his last day was friday. now she's trying to hire someone to do admin stuff and answer phones and file bc I literally cannot do that and try to bill like 25+ hours per week, and it is soooo fun looking through resumes and listening to interviews and stuff. how i got here

this used to be a blog from my burnout stoner days about spirituality. i have come a long way since then and separated getting high from ascending. over the course of roughly 3 years I became extremely spiritual and then extremely closed off. mostly in ups and downs, but of more recently, i’ve become more aware of myself and noticed a “spiritual blockage” so to speak. this realization was followed by a bad relapse of depression surrounding stressful situations in my life. for the past month every week has been a bad one. 

i’ve always been an intuitive person and had a natural drawing and curiosity toward magick. i was obsessed with matilda when i was younger and the idea of controlling my mind. i still havent decided my general disposition and take on the word “witchcraft” at least not for what im exploring as of now. i believe everything that is taking place now is a matter of the universe, nature, and will. the end of this bad month brought me another realization: I am extremely drawn to smoke. smoking cigarettes, e cigarettes, and even hookah pens is something that i’ve been mesmerized by since a young age. Not for the coolness factor, but something about watching smoke in the air calms and grounds me. As of more recently i’ve been burning incense everyday. I usually use lemongrass, white sage, or cedar sage to cleanse my room. Sensory magick is another very big thing for me. The smell of a room has a physical effect on you. Anyway, I decide to meditate in front of burning incense, sporadically spreading all over my room. I focus my will and intent. My breathing becomes one with that is happening around me. I open my eyes and the smoke from the incense which was wafting all over the place previously was making a straight beeline into my body. 

at this point i know it can’t be a coincidence. for the past week ive been researching all over the internet and reading tons of different witch blogs in search of someone whos like me. I know certain witches are drawn to or feel a special connection to a certain element. I guess smoke is considered a part of the air element but to me it’s something else of its own. What water is to a water witch, incense smoke is to me. I find some tidbits here and there about using incense as a tool or aid in witchcraft/ spells, but no smoke witches. I become frustrated with this; smoke is so blatantly magick. how could no one else have noticed but me??? when im holding an incense stick it becomes my wand. 

since i couldnt find anyone else like me to talk to about smoke magick, i’ve decided to develop my own. today i wrote my own spell, a simple rhyming metric 4 liner for a clean room and a clear mind. i recited the spell sitting down in a meditative state until i became each word of it. i felt something happen. like something was taken out of me in a good way. because of this, i’ve decided to open my heart and my life back up to spirituality and the magick possibilities that can occur in the process. i’ve decided to open up myself to receive the universe itself; everything i put into it coming back to me threefold. im ready to exit the rough patch. so here i am. a “baby witch” of sorts. trying to navigate this feeling within me that I am not built for normal. The feeling that tells me the reason i’ve been doing so badly is because i’ve been neglecting my spirituality and blocking any magick from entering my life. I’m listening now. I’m here to unblock my blessings, learn, and make friends.

i dont really know why im posting this on my public blog instead of privately or probably even more sensibly with people i care about (although i just feel so alienated, i’ve become good friends with people in college and i love them a lot but i’m not sure despite how open some people have encouraged me to be, if my relationships are close enough to talk about this kinds of stuff seriously, which might be a weird concern because i overshare all the time but i just always feel really guilty for it) i guess i mind less about people hearing this and more about burdening anyone in specific, idk!!

but yeah ive just been really emotional this week, or really ive had the same range of emotions as usual but ive just been crying a lot again. i used to cry almost every day and have like weekly panic attacks in high school when my relationship with my parents was really toxic and i was harassed every day at school my senior year, but since freshman year after my dad was diagnosed and then my nana passed away and then my dad passed away too for the most part i’ve just been holding in so much and i’m finally starting to let that out this past month or so but in really weird ways where i’ll burst out sobbing even in public over the stupidest shit

and thats started to happen multiple times a week as of this past week and its made me realize how i feel alone all over again. i have one person at university i would consider to genuinely be a close friend even if he may not consider me a best friend, i’m not sure, but we only see each other around every other week when we actually plan to hang out because we’re no longer in any of the same classes or dorms or anything. beyond that i feel most comfortable with people from work, and consider many of them to be my friends, but recently some of my co-managers have been speaking out about how they feel unwelcome in our work environment and it can feel cliquey and it makes me so upset that i didn’t pick up the cues that shouldve made me realize that, i feel like i’m not doing my part and if i am misinterpreting my relationships with my coworkers, then maybe they dont even consider me as much of a friend as i do them.

and then ive started to get closer with a few people ive only really talked to since school started and they really all are just such wonderful people and i want to get to know them better but i worry the way i’m opening up to them is disproportionate and unfair to them but i really don’t know how to navigate this all.

its making me realize i dont think my avoidant personality disorder shit ever actually improved for the most part, it was just that my two best friends, shannon and burke, and my girlfriend, jacqueline, have been a constant in my life for so long now that my constant anxieties about my relationships with others and my interactions didn’t feel as prominent because at least logically i knew i could rely on them

and of course i can, i love all three of them so much and they have been for me through so much, but since college i don’t get to see shannon every day and burke multiple times a month, when we catch up its wonderful, and i’m sure its all natural to how long term friendships work, but not having them here physically sometimes makes me feel a bit more lonely, because regardless of how many seemingly positive interactions i have with someone who isn’t them or who i’ve met in the past couple years, based on experience i can never have the reassurance that i have with them that they have explicitly given me throughout the years for ages after where i currently stand in all my irl friendships, and who knows how much of that all is mutual even now we’re those newer friendships are at. and even jacqueline, who i try to talk to as much as possible, this past year has been so emotionally draining that i’ve slipped into not talking at least once a day like we used to and i feel like i dont have nearly as much time as i want to be spending with her having fun. and for all three of them i worry i just am not there for them like i want to be.

and just specifically with romantic stuff it makes me so upset i’ve only ever got to visit jacqueline irl once, which was almost a year ago now, and that most of that memory even though i loved the short time we had i also associate with my dads health turning even worse because his legs becoming paralyzed while me and my mom were in oklahoma of course meant that we cut the trip short because of course we wanted to make sure my dad was safe and okay.

and yeah just after crying again today, my new friends hugging me was really nice, but when i went into my room right afterward i burst out sobbing, and i have no idea how to recover from this or comfort myself effectively, i only know how to sleep it off and feel like shit when i wake up halfway through the next day. so now thats why i’m writing this to vent and have been for like the past 45 minutes and still havent really gotten to all of it. i don’t know how to comfort myself but i know right now i just really wish i had someone that could just lie down with me and comfort me, maybe even a bit romantically.

and i feel really goofy for saying that, i get really self conscious about how immature i feel compared to so many people my age, sometimes i think its in part an autism thing but also i know other autistics at my university who aren’t like this so i really don’t have a decent excuse but like . i’ve never even done that with someone.

me and jacqueline only got to see each other essentially a day before i suddenly needed to go back to ohio, we were both so nervous, we took a while to even hold hands, and that day and a half we saw each other i had my first kiss, and later my last kiss i’ve had since. both of those and the ones in between being just a peck on the lips. i’m not complaining about that, i don’t think we should’ve rushed our pace, but i think it goes to show how lost i feel in navigating this all if even after knowing her so well and dating her for over 2 years at that point, i froze so much.

i’m comfortable with jacqueline with stuff like that because she’s expressed shes in a similar boat, and i really appreciate that understanding. i think its wonderful how we’ve been together for almost 3 years now, but also thinking about that is wild. i was in such a different place back then, i don’t think i really knew what dating someone or being in a relationship entailed. i’m happy with how we go about our relationship, but also i get really lost when comparing how i define and go about romantic things versus most people i’ve met in college. i’ve never been in a relationship with anyone but her, and i’ve never been in a relationship that wasn’t long distance. i love her and i wish she were closer so maybe we could begin to figure that out together. also ive had a lot of casual crushes on girls at college in the past couple years and i think it would be really nice to explore that too, but honestly i have no idea how to go about that and its so daunting to try to think about so i just resign it as unrealistic unless something extremely significant changes within the next few years, and then i’ll be really pathetic for not knowing anything as a fucking 23 year old maybe in grad school or something. and so i just get to feeling more lonely and having more anxiety about my interactions and relationships with others.

i know its a common thing apparently for lgbt people to be “late bloomers” but im surrounded by so many lgbt people who are so far ahead of me with relationship stuff, and i don’t think i’ve met a single lgbt person in college besides myself who is quite this inexperienced/naive/etc.

i dont know how i’m ever supposed to learn this stuff at this rate, even if i feel slightly less bad about stuff like my appearance and personality nowadays (or more like, i know i look weird but i care less now because i dont care enough any more to try changing my appearance over it, and then i’m still terrible with communication and social cues and oversharing and all my weird shit etc etc etc but i guess at least i try to be compassionate and that must at least be somewhat noticeable if other people sometimes remark on it), even if people are fine with that and find me interesting enough, i really don’t see how almost any girl who got that far would then find it worth it to deal with how fucking stunted i am in that regard. like thats just not fair to have to have someone guide me around so much because i just have no idea what to do and no idea How to figure that out.

so yeah im just . having a rough time im very emotional and expressing it physically (which while somewhat cathartic after feeling so empty, also makes me feel worse because the context in which i last was like this is not one i want to dwell on now that my dad has passed and ive been in the process of forgiveness) and i have so much love for so many people but also i feel so so so so so lost and alone and stunted and i really just don’t know how to begin working on that and its really embarrassing to admit.

But they fail to prove the point with real hard numbers. Show me how Whole Life beats Term with the additional premium saved being invested in a Total Stock market index fund or other no load investment at a Vanguard or other low cost provider.

have a few issues I could really use some help with. The family car that I have been driving wasn't in my name but I was still covered on the insurance until one day I hit a mailbox with the passenger side mirror. Anyways, then a couple weeks later a different family member (not the owner) had a little bit of a bigger accident when an animal suddenly appeared in front of the car forcing another accident. I have not had an accident in over 12 years but since I was mentioned after that second accident, I was also excluded from the insurance policy for that vehicle. The insurance cost is something like $158.00 per month but now they want the owner to add about $50 or $60 more per month EACH for the 2 people that were excluded because of the accidents.The car payment is about $415.00 per month and the insurance was $158.00 per month for just the owned which does not even drive the car at all but now they want an extra hundred per month for those 2 excluded drivers if they want to drive that car. Hello, I am 21 and in college. I am in Northeast Illinois. I have not driven a car since I was 17. This is because I did miserably in driver education. I passed the classroom, so technically I passed driver ed, but the driving I failed miserably. My parents won't let me be behind the wheel of their cars again. I'm 20 years old, and because of the stupidly hiked insurance prices I got into riding motorbikes as a way of getting around. I now commute around 20,000 miles a year and the weather is really getting to me. I love riding but forced riding is different. Last year I was insured on a cbr 600 (2000 model) for 1200 a year TPFT, and this year part ex'd it for a Suzuki Bandit (2008) which is around 700 a year. Both bikes are 0 no claims as I've never kept a bike long enough to accumulate any. Now I understand cars are bigger and cause more damage etc, but bikes are quick, really quick, but how can insurers justify the stupidly high priced insurance for me on a car? Minimum 2500 a year!? My brother has a ford fiesta, an old old G red model, hes 2 years younger than me, and has always wanted to drive so he's spent ages saving and working towards getting a car. Come his insurace quote, and they're asking for 1200 a year TPFT. The EXACT same details, address etc, just with my name, age, and job (electronics technician) I'm looking at around 3000 a year, same company, no change. Its really getting to me now. I have to convictions, no speeding penalties, nothing. I've lead life so far getting involved in zero trouble, I do things by the book. So I'm beginning to wonder what's up.
