Coming Home in the Dark
Proving true that everything in New Zealand is trying to kill you, especially other people, especially other people who are living desperately on the margins of society, and especially other people who were traumatized by state institutions’ violence in their youth. Director James Ashcroft skillfully ratchets the tension and gives the viewer spots of false catharsis and relief before cranking the tension gear up again throughout the film.

Larry’s Country Diner Releases Four Shane Owens Songs As Part Of Their Season 16 Audio Recorded Collection
Country singer-songwriter Shane Owens recently had four of his songs digitally released as part of Larry’s Country Diner’s Season 16 audio recorded collection by Really Good Records. All four songs from Owens’ 10th Episode show taping are available now across all major digital streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music & streaming on TV at CountryRoadTV.com. Owens taped his appearance on the popular classic country TV show, singing his signature song, “All The Beer In Alabama,” along with an upbeat version of “Chicken Truck,” the ballad esque’ “God and the Ground She Walked On,” and the pleaful mid-tempo “Nashville, You Ain’t Hollywood.” “Playing the hit TV show Larry’s Country Diner was so exciting,” Owens recalled. “Important to mention that hanging out with the legendary Jimmy Capps and making memories that last forever is something I will never forget. It’s more special to me now that Jimmy has passed on, and I’m forever grateful to have had the opportunity to play with him while he was with us.” About Shane Owens: Previously named by Rolling Stone Country as one of the “10 New Country Artists You Need To Know,” and awarded Music Row Magazine’s Independent Artist of the Year award in 2018, Shane Owens has built a strong following of fans for more than a decade with his staunch country traditionalist musical style. His powerful vocal range combined with the emotional lyrical content of his songs has made him a favorite of fans, critics, and fellow artists alike. After starting his career opening shows for dozens of major stars, the baritone performer attracted the attention of Nashville music executives, and is currently signed with Texas-based AmeriMonte Records. Owens made his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2017 and in February 2020, made his debut on the world famous Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree. As a self-made road warrior, he maintains an active tour schedule of barroom shows and festival appearances and has also appeared at CMA Music Festival, Jamboree In The Hills and other major summertime events. Cracker Barrel has included Owens’ music in several of the store’s exclusive releases, including Country Faith America and Country Faith Love Songs, while Netflix included his song “Country Never Goes Out Of Style” in its popular series The Ranch. Owens recorded with famed producer James Stroud (Tim McGraw, Aaron Lewis, Clint Black), and country music legend Randy Travis, who co-executive produced his first album, Where I’m Comin’ From. Never one to sit still for long, Shane Owens is currently impacting at radio with his latest single “You Go Good” and a new album on the way in 2023. Look what came in the mail a bit too late! (Though my ordering it too late certainly didnt help 😅)
Glad I got to help Lauren Ashcraft’s awesome issues-based campaign for #NY12 (though not as much as I was hoping to thanks to COVID...). I still love how well she understands the bipartisan corruption behind the systemic nuanced issues we have--not just in that district but nationwide--and her ability to articulate exactly what needs to be systematically done about them (highly recommend podcasts and the indie media she's been on, like her Hardy Report interview) while using her platform to elevate those suffering in the community--all #NotMeUs stuff. And that she did that all with the social anxiety she's mentioned having is impressive haha.
There were a lot of great similar candidates running this year (Samelys Lopez in my NY-15, Isiah James in NY-9...), and all brought interesting perspectives to the table (and shirt designs I hope are still available 😭). Still waiting on those absentees to see how much they change things, and ugh I'm still getting Tiffany Caban nightmares there, but thanks to Lauren and everyone for running and offering the Left some needed hope.
(Also wondering how safe it'd be to get a needed haircut downtown... 🤔)

Rhythm Tengoku (Arcade)
It's the start of a new week! Why not try a different game this week?
Rhythm Tengoku is a rhythm game developed by Nintendo SPD and published by Nintendo. It was released on August 3, 2006, and was the last game developed by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. An arcade version of the game was reprogrammed and published by Sega on September 20, 2007. Both versions were released in Japan exclusively... But you can play it right here, right now in LV!
This rhythm game is comparable to the WarioWare series due in part to its simplistic controls and art style.
The game primarily relies on audio cues to indicate the rhythm; while it uses visual cues as well, it will sometimes subvert players' expectations with them.
The staff actually took dance lessons in order to improve their rhythm by the recommendation of the game's music composer Tsunku.
One stage that made an impression was Rhythm Tweezers, a level that featured an onion with a face from which players pluck its hair. It was originally going to be a real face, but it was deemed "a little too gross." Another stage is called The Bon Odori and is based on the real-world Japanese Bon Festival!
One year after the game's Gameboy release, Sega approached the staff with an offer to co-develop an arcade version of the game for the Sega Naomi (under the title of Rhythm Tengoku: HD Remixed Edition), which was released September 20, 2007. This was due to the popularity of the game with its development staff. Osawa brought this offer to the attention of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata and others who approved of the idea. Yone had to make adjustments in the arcade version due to the differences between arcade mechanics and console mechanics.
Rhythm Tengoku: HD Remixed Edition was also the only game licensed by Nintendo for the Sega Naomi arcade system, and it was one of the very few games developed by Nintendo and Sega respectively.

Rhythm Tengoku has since received three sequels. The first was titled Rhythm Heaven for the Nintendo DS and was the first game in the series to be released outside of Japan. It uses touchscreen controls rather than buttons. The next game was titled Rhythm Heaven Fever. It was released on the Wii, then it was re-released on the Wii U 5 years after the game came out on the Wii in Japan.
The games were titled Rhythm Paradise and Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise over here in Europe.
The fourth game in the series is titled Rhythm Heaven Megamix and features games from Tengoku, Heaven and Fever.
Rhythm Tengoku has received generally positive reception. Eurogamer's staff ranked it the 36th best game of 2006 while its readership voted it the 50th best. Tom of Eurogamer called it the best Game Boy Advance game of the year while he and fellow Eurogamer staff member James felt that it was at least on par with Elite Beat Agents (which also received positive reception.
GameSpy's Andrew Alfonso praised its music, gameplay, and variety; he felt however that it was not long enough. GamesRadar staff included the game's drum lessons in its list of the "20 Magical Nintendo moments". A reviewer at Computer and Video Games (CVG) gave praise to it for its WarioWare-like humour and its quality music. Kotaku's Brian Ashcraft called it "one of the Game Boy Advance's most interesting (and enjoyable) titles". CVG's Andy Kelly included the Bon Odori song in his list of the 100 best video game themes ever. He called it "insanely catchy." 1UP.com's Bob Mackey called its lack of an American release "one of the great Game Boy Advance injustices of 2006".
Our arcade cab has a headphone jack installed with a volume control, so you can play and enjoy the music without being disturbed by other arcade goers. Check out this hidden gem at the back of the arcade!

20 books I would keep
I saw some other blogs doing this and thought it would be an interesting exercise, so I did it. The idea is you can choose only 20 books to keep, and you can only have one book from each author. It was hard in a different way than I expected; I was expecting to have a hard time narrowing it down; but I actually had a hard time choosing after the first 10 or so books.
It also showed me that I’ve been putting off reading some books that I would actually really like to read, so I’m going to try to focus on reading those next. I also had a few books in mind which I don’t own, but would want to if I could only have 20. There’s also probably something to be said about me for choosing to keep books I haven’t read yet - it’s a bit of a risk, but it would give me something new to read.
1. American Sphinx - The Character of Thomas Jefferson, by Joseph J. Ellis 2. Jefferson, Nationalism & The Enlightenment, by Henry Steele Commager 3. Gentlemen, Scientists, and Revolutionaries, by Tom Shachtman 4. Jefferson: Writings 5. Riding Towards the Light, by Paul Belasik 6. Centered Riding, by Sally Swift 7. Common Sense and Other Writings, by Thomas Paine 8. Classic Show Jumping, by Bertalan de Némethy 9. The Inner Jefferson, by Andrew Burstein 10. Yankees at the Court, by Susan Mary Alsop 11. The Law, by Frederic Bastiat 12. Paris in the Terror, by Stanley Loomis
Books I would buy for this purpose: 13. Middlesex, by Jeffrey Eugenides 14. The Radical Politics of Thomas Jefferson, by Richard K. Matthews 15. The Autobiography of Frederick Douglass
Books I would keep that I haven't read yet: 16. The Mind of Thomas Jefferson, Peter S. Onuf 17. The Calculus of Consent, James M. Buchanan & Gordon Tullock 18. The Evolution of Political Systems, ed. by Steadman Upham 19. Revolutionary Politics & Locke's Two Treatises of Government, Richard Ashcraft 20. Man vs. The State, Milton Mayer

3: what is a very unpopular band you’re into? tell a little bit about them
dyke drama! not really sure how to describe this band tbh, kind of an odd mix of indie and emo with a little bit of queercore thrown in. as far as i know this band is really only one person as sadie switchblade's (the singer from g.l.o.s.s., a really good queercore/hardcore punk bad) solo project. i highly recommend the ep hard new pills
4: name a great band you recently discovered
i know i'm super late to the party on this but i've only somewhat recently gotten into green day. obviously i've heard songs of theirs since forever but it took me a hot minute to sit down and listen to entire albums but i'm really enjoying them
21: a musician whose music you enjoy but whom you dislike as a person or vice versa?
oh boy there's tons of these in metal. tbh this past few years were really rough in terms of finding out that a lot of the musicians i used to love are horrible people (jon schaffer and the singers in xanthochroid are the major offenders here). i can't even say that i enjoy their music anymore because i can't listen to them (even with cds i already owned or pirated so i'm not giving them any more money through streams) without thinking about the shit they've said and done and feeling really gross about it. i don't really have any examples of the opposite bc i have pretty flexible music taste and i can enjoy just about anything
23: favourite singer (only for voice?) and favourite drummer/guitarist/bassist (only for playing their instrument)
singer: probably adrienne cowan from seven spires. honorable mentions are ronnie james dio, rob halford, heather michele, and damna
drummer: honestly i don't think i have one. unlike all the other instruments on this list i don't play drums so i don't have much of an ear for what makes a drummer good/bad beyond being the rhythmic center for the music which is pretty basic. i might find the drum work on a song or album cool but this rarely if ever translates into a more specific interest in the drummer themselves or their discography as an individual
guitarist: oof this is a tough one. midori and miyako from lovebites, jack kosto, thalia bellazecca, and jason ashcraft are all some of my favorites right now
bassist: definitely peter de reyna from seven spires. this man can SHRED like nobody else
Thanks bestie (☞
#if you don't know about xanthochroid they're a somewhat decent symphonic black metal band i was obsessed with in high school#and about a year ago i found out that at least 2 of their members are antivaxx/antimask/flat earthers#i was totally heartbroken when i found that out and i can't bring myself to listen to them at all anymore#i realize some people believe in separating art from artist but my opinion is that you can't do that as long as the artist is still alive#and financially benefitting from your support and attention#if i buy from them i cant help but imagine them taking my money and donating it to some shitty conservative cause#and streaming even if it only gives a small amount of money is still something that could be better given to a less shitty artist#sigh

Or instead of settling for a crappy Democrat you could vote for fantastic progressive candidates.
Like Charles Booker who is currently running against McConnell and is fighting for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and the legalization of cannabis unlike McGrath who is running as a Pro-Trump Democrat.
Because maybe substance means more than just a label.
There are actually lots of real progressive non-corporate democrats running right now. So if you actually care about that sort of thing you could check out Jamaal Bowman, Shaniyat Chowdhury, Melanie D'Arrigo, Isiah James, Lauren Ashcraft, Jen Perelman, Cori Bush, Paula Jean Swearengin, Ihssane Leckey, Nabilah Islam, Rachel F. Ventura, Albert Lee, Eva Putzova, Andrew Romanoff and Shahid Buttar.

Let's flip the Senate. Register. Donate. Vote.
#VOTE#every vote matters#don't just vote against republicans though#vote out neoliberal centerists#vote for progressives#vote for substance#Medicare for All#Green New Deal

The GunCon[a], known as the G-Con in Europe, is a family of gun peripherals designed by Namco for the PlayStation consoles. The original controllers used traditional light gun technology, while newer controllers use LED tracking technology.
Background[edit]
The first GunCon NPC-103 (G-Con 45 in Europe) was bundled with the PlayStation conversion of Time Crisis. To make the gun affordable to consumers, the force feedback feature of the Time Crisis arcade gun was omitted, and an additional fire button was included in lieu of releasing a pedal controller for the game's ducking mechanic.[1] A second version of the GunCon, known as the GunCon 2 NPC-106 (G-Con 2 in Europe), was bundled with the PlayStation 2 conversion of Time Crisis II and Time Crisis 3. Time Crisis 4 came out for the PlayStation 3 bundled with the GunCon 3 NC-109[2][3][4][5] (G-Con 3 in Europe[6]). In Japan, all three GunCon models were also available for sale as a separate accessory outside of a game bundle.
Prior to the GunCon, the Konami Justifier was the first light gun peripheral for the PlayStation and a few games support it. With the exception of the North American localization of Elemental Gearbolt and Maximum Force,[7] games that support the Justifier are not compatible with the GunCon and vice versa. This was because Namco designed the GunCon so that it would only work with Namco games.[8]Electronic Gaming Monthly's Crispin Boyer said that a Namco public relations representative was shocked when he informed him that he'd tried the GunCon with Maximum Force (not a Namco game) and confirmed that it worked.[8]
Models[edit]
GunCon[edit]
The black GunCon controller for the PlayStation
The GunCon controller (known as G-Con 45 in Europe) uses the cathode ray timing method to determine where the barrel is aimed at on the screen when the trigger is pulled. It features a button below the barrel on either side of the gun (buttons A and B, both performing the same function) for auxiliary in-game control, such as to take cover and reload in Time Crisis. The controller is released in black in Japan, and gray (and eventually, in orange) in both Europe and North America. The controller is compatible with some PlayStation 2 GunCon titles, but is not compatible with PlayStation 3 due to its lack of controller ports. Many games that support it allow the A and B buttons to be swapped, making it comfortable for both right and left-handed players.

GunCon 2[edit]
GunCon 2, Japanese domestic model: a d-pad has been added to the rear of the gun
GunCon 2 (G-Con 2 in Europe) features a smaller body, as well as a more rounded shape when compared with the original GunCon. The side buttons, A and B, have been moved rearward to a position directly above the trigger. Two new smaller buttons, SELECT and START, have been added to the left side of the shaft. Prominent additions to this second GunCon model is a D-pad at the back of the gun barrel and a C button added at the bottom of the gun handle. These new buttons served to open new gameplay opportunities, such as character movement in Dino Stalker or the ability to use two guns at once in Time Crisis II. The gun uses a USB connection as opposed to a PlayStation controller port of the GunCon 1 and also hooks into the video signal of the console (either composite video or the Y signal of component video). The controller is released in black in Japan, blue in Europe, and orange in North America. It is not compatible with original PlayStation titles or PlayStation 3 titles. The GunCon 2, with compatible games, can work on older models of the PlayStation 3 featuring any form of hardware-based PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility.
GunCon 3[edit]
GunCon 3, Japanese domestic model: two analogue sticks have been added to the gun for advanced aiming/movement controls
The GunCon 3 utilizes two infrared LEDs as markers, placed on the left and right sides of the screen. An image sensor in the muzzle tracks the markers as reference points for determining where the gun is pointing on the screen. As opposed to the GunCon and GunCon 2, which are only compatible with CRT-based displays, the GunCon 3 supports a wide variety of display types, including LCD and Plasma.[9]
The GunCon 3 features a 'sub-grip', mounted underneath the barrel and extending to the left side for use with the left hand. On the sub-grip is an analog stick and two shoulder buttons, like in a modern gamepad. At the back end of the gun barrel is another analog stick and two buttons, B1 and B2, underneath. Another two buttons, C1 and C2, are placed along the left side of the barrel. The analog sticks allow the player to play first-person shooting games with manual aiming/firing of the light gun.
In regards to appearance, all Japanese GunCon 3 controllers feature a black coloring, though due to US toy gun laws, the US/PAL release of the GunCon 3 controllers are molded of bright orange plastic. This controller has been criticized for being uncomfortable for left-handed gamers.

iGunCon for iOS was released on July 21, 2011, which allows players to use an iPhone or iPod Touch in a similar fashion to the GunCon on Time Crisis 2nd Strike, an iOS exclusive entry in the Time Crisis series.[11]iGunCon, along with Time Crisis 2nd Strike, was pulled from the app store in March of 2015.[12]
Reception[edit]
Electronic Gaming Monthly's four-person 'review crew' gave the original GunCon scores of 7.5, 7.0, 8.0, and 7.5 out of 10. They criticized Namco's decisions to make it compatible only with Namco games and make Namco games incompatible with other light guns, but praised the GunCon's extreme precision and accuracy, in particular when firing near the edge of the screen (a common trouble spot for light guns). Lead reviewer Crispin Boyer was also pleased with the low price of the GunCon/Time Crisis bundle.[8]

More Details on Police Chief who Overdosed on Fentanyl
New Post has been published on https://www.therecover.com/more-details-on-police-chief-who-overdosed-on-fentanyl/
More Details on Police Chief who Overdosed on Fentanyl

Kirkersville Police Chief James Hughes Jr fatal overdose last May was initially ruled accidental, but new reports show while inadvertent, the drugs he consumed were not. An autopsy released last month said he died accidentally of “acute intoxication by fentanyl.” Now, all signs suggest the drugs ingested where previously seized from police evidence.
Investigators found parcels of fentanyl, LSD and heroin in the Police Chiefs’ home when he was found unresponsive in the bathroom according to Lt. Ron Wright of the Reynoldsburg Police Department. Reynoldsburg is a nearby city to the small village of Kirkersville.
The packages found lead police the drugs were stolen from the department’s evidence room. One syringe had no drugs in it, the other was positive for fentanyl. A plastic sandwich bag found at the scene tested positive for cocaine and a third syringe containing a liquid was determined to be positive for fentanyl.
“There was packaging that indicated that he was taking controlled substances from there,” he said Wednesday.
The 35-year-old Hughes was pronounced dead after emergency services responded to a 911 call from his Reynoldsburg home around 11a.m on May 25th. He had been named the part time chief in March after Kikersville former chief Jeff Finley stepped down over conflicts between he and Mayor Terry Ashcraft. The appointed position occurred at a two-minute special village council meeting a week after Ashcraft resigned.
Previous to becoming police chief, an investigation was conducted by the Newark Advocate newspaper showed Hughes was no stranger to scandal, including allegations of a relationship with a woman serving time at the Fairfield County Jail while Hughes was worked for the county’s sheriff office. In addition, Hughes pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct for a 2013 incident where he allegedly used a racial slur and spit at a worker at a fast food restaurant in Whitehall, Ohio. No replacement has been named yet.
As for charges, if the drugs were taken from the property room then no one would be charged with their sale and therefor no one to charge in Hughes’ death according to Lt. Wright. The Reynoldsburg department is planning to close the case in the next two weeks, after contacting the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
“It’s kind of gone beyond our level. You’re talking about another agency’s property room,” he said. “We think the state should probably intervene.”
If the attorney’s general office takes the case, a state-level investigation would take place to examine the practices of the entire Kirkersville Police Department. Wright admitted he is no evidence room expert, but there are proper procedures that need to be followed in maintaining an evidence room.
“There appeared to be some practices happening out there that probably someone from the state AG’s office should probably look into,” he said.
Hughes death shows no one is immune from the heroin epidemic that has impacted so much of Ohio and many other parts of the country.
“It’s happening at all different levels and walks of life,” Wright said.
Following Hughes’ death, his wife, Amanda — with whom he was raising three young children — created a “GoFundMe” page to raise $12,000 for funeral expenses, but less than $1,000 has been donated. The Village council agreed to give Hughe’s family $1,500 to help with funeral costs.

YO NO HE SIDO un buen hombre. He traicionado a muchos conocidos y su confianza. He vendido drogas. He evadido impuestos. Tengo deudas. He maltratado mi cuerpo con cigarros, drogas y alcohol. Y aunque tengo talento, no lo he utilizado.
