Summary: General Jax crushing and confessing headcanons

Nothing irritates Jax more than someone new. Sure, a new fella to add to the prank list, and yet, another re-do of the theme song. So seeing you spawn into existence, scrambling around fearfully, made him feel both amused and annoyed. Let's just say he started out with mixed feelings for you. Mind you, these are just judgements. He hasn't even met you yet. Rude, I know, but it's Jax.

Meeting you went way better than he thought! You actually didn't find him annoying? That was a change of pace for him. Of course, not like he minded. Not at all! Looks like he'll have a new sucker to prank after all.

Although Jax was amused by you, you sure weren't. Not on the second day, at least. You had been talking with him earlier that day, and he wouldn't shut up about insects. Weird, you'd think of all people to be ranting about insects, it would be Kinger. Until later that night, or at least you thought it was night, you opened your door to find spiders in your bed.

And thus, you became Jax's main target for pranking! Hooray..! Yes, you liked his company--he was actually pretty fun to be around! But, uh, you prefer your outfit to not be soaked from a water bucket by the end of the day.

You two became frenemies. Sometimes, days went by where he wouldn't prank you. Shocking, I know. Jax just didn't wanna be too harsh on you, y'know? Which is weird, because Jax doesn't go easy on folks very often.

On days where he wouldn't prank you, you would sometimes receive notes from him. It was a good spirit lifter to go to your room at the end of a long adventure and see the corniest dad joke ever written on a piece of notepaper with crayon writing, sitting there on your bedside table. And on good days, you'd even write notes back for him!

One day, Jax gets either asked or teased about how he's so fond with you, and so rude to everyone else. He either makes some dumb excuse or tries to raise suspicion on the person asking, like the asshole he is, but it gets him thinking. He doesn't like to think. He's a man of action. But you were a.. different scenario.

Before, he was this complete asshole. And that's it, really. But you did something to him, something that he had no idea what to do with. Caine's gotta be messing with his coding, right? Maybe he input feeings in his code just to be mean. But being mean was his thing! God, what have you done to him..?

You, at the time, had no idea you were stripping away all of his confidence. As far as you knew, he has just been a bit nicer recently. Which was good! Right? Right. The notes would've been obvious proof he was getting better. Well, first, he was sending more notes rather than.. bugs.. but second, the notes started getting nicer and nicer. Some were just straight up compliments. That's when you noticed something was off. Jax never complimented anyone. Though, you didn't mind some of the compliments...

It's not like Jax has never been in love. He knows he had some sort of love life when he was in the real world, but he was left with just wisps of what it actually felt like to love someone. To care for someone. Though, now, he's finally able to remember.

You noticed how his teasing significantly decreased the more you spent time with him. You kinda missed it, but you're not one to complain.

Jax, on the other hand, was on edge all the time around you. He hated that you washed away his confidence facade, he hated how soft he was around you, how vulnerable. But that smug smirk wasn't gone just yet. He had one more "prank" to pull.

Ha, he wishes it was a prank. It really wasn't. This was actually the most serious he's ever been. He stared at the crudely drawn purple heart on a piece of scratch paper, only now doubting everything he's ever done as butterflies arose in his digital stomach. Standing outside your door, he suddenly felt all the nerves coming back to him he never thought he'd have to feel again. Jax swallowed down his nerves, but still couldn't hide the flush look on his face--or the fact that his pretend-guts were being tied into a bow.

Inside the small homemade card was an admittance to something he never thought he had to admit. Something he'd rather admit in person. Instead, since every inch of his confidence was gone at this point, he confessed in horrible handwriting, written with crayola twistables.

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Having a timid newcomer in your first few weeks at the Circus was prime entertainment for Jax. He immediately picked up his usual routine of picking and prodding, never missing an opportunity to rope you into one of his many jokes

ᯓᡣ𐭩 At first, you tended to hover around Gangle and Zooble. Zooble would help stick up for you if Jax ever pushed his limits, and Gangle could relate to you for being subjected to the purple rabbit's idea of comedy

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Having some members in your corner helped you to build up your confidence, and once you were settled in, the constant joking from Jax seemed much less intimidating. If anything now it was just a bit more than mildly irritating

ᯓᡣ𐭩 The first time you made a jab back at him was during one of Caine's many adventures. After about the third mean-spirited comment, you snarked back. To your mild surprise, he seemed genuinely caught off guard... until that smirk was right back on his face mere seconds later

ᯓᡣ𐭩 "There we go. Told ya you weren't a total pushover. Good to see someone around here knows how to have fun" he'd commented, giving your form a long look as he spoke. If anything it made him even more amused to know you could bite back

Sleeps curled up, with his ears tucked down

When he’s sleeping, he curls up on his side, knees pulled up, arms folded close, and his ears naturally droop down over his face. It’s a weirdly small and vulnerable position, like his body is bracing for something even in sleep.

His eyes light up when you laugh at his jokes

He pretends like your reaction doesn’t matter, but if you genuinely laugh at one of his dumb jokes, his eyes actually brighten and he gets this smug little smile like he just won the lottery. He’ll pretend to shrug it off, but that moment stays with him all day.

Pretends he doesn’t like physical affection but secretly melts 

If someone ever casually ruffles his ears or leans against him, he’ll roll his eyes and act like it’s the most annoying thing in the world. But the second they stop? He suddenly finds himself lingering near them, making excuses to keep them close. He denies this need even to himself.

Gets sleepy when you play with his ears

Following the previous one: If somehow you ever get the chance to pet him or play with his ears while he’s lying down or curled up nearby, he’ll act annoyed and look around if someone else is there. If he sees you two are alone, he starts visibly melting. He leans into it, eyes half-lidded, basically purring to you to continue. 

Will stick to someone’s side he trusts without a word

It’s hard for him to actually get attached, but if he genuinely likes someone, he’ll become more relaxed near them. No teasing, no pushing buttons (maybe just a little, he has a reputation to uphold after all), just existing in the same space. 

If you sit on the couch, he sits next to you. If you need to pair up for an adventure, he stands next to you without saying anything. If he senses danger, his first instinct is to look your way. If he feels like you’re upset, he tries to distract you with stupid jokes until he sees a smile. It’s the closest he gets to admitting he feels safe around someone.

Carries things for you without saying a word

If you’re holding something heavy or look tired, he just… takes it from you. No snark, no jokey comment. He walks off like it was nothing, pretending it’s not a big deal – but if you thank him, he gets all fidgety and brushes it off with a “yeah yeah, don’t make it weird.”

Talks big but gets flustered easily

He’s an unbearable tease, but if someone genuinely flirts back at him? His brain shuts down and goes into panic mode. The second he realises someone is playing his own game against him, he either doubles down in an almost desperate attempt to stay in control (he usually ends up failing spectacularly), or completely shuts up for once.

Hoarder of small trinkets

If something catches his eye, he keeps it. Random objects, buttons, small toys, a weirdly shaped rock – he doesn’t even realise he does it, but his pockets are always full of little things he’s picked up from adventures. If he ever gives someone something from his collection, it means something.

Bonus: Sometimes he leaves you random gifts near your door or sneaks something into your pocket. No note, no context. Could be something useful, could be just a funny-looking rock. He never admits it was from him, but it always ends up being something you actually like.

Watches you while you talk, totally focused

If you enter the room or just talk to someone else when he’s around, he loses interest in whatever he was doing before. He’d look at you from the corner of his eyes every so often, ears tilted your way. He doesn’t say a word, just carefully listens. If you look over suddenly, he pretends he wasn’t.

Acts like he doesn’t remember things, but he does

He pretends to forget little things people say or do, but he remembers it all. He knows everyone’s favourite foods from their past lives, the memories they remember, what makes them laugh, what they’re afraid of. He just never brings it up because admitting he cares, even in the smallest way, is terrifying for him. He thinks of it as getting attached – something he swore to never do again.

He’s not sorry. Or embarrassed. He loves you, loves everything about you. He thinks you’re the best thing since sliced bread. He worships you and the ground beneath your feet. So why wouldn’t he steal your panties? They’re yours, and they rest against his most favorite part of you all day 🤷🏻‍♀️ He won’t apologize, not even when your face heats up and you cover it with both hands. On the contrary, he probably makes a show of taking one out of the secret pile and sniffing it. He’s nasty, and he knows regardless of how you feel about it, you know he does it out of love and devotion. So he’s ok with it. And he’s not gonna stop.

He’s ashamed. He knew he shouldn’t have done it. Felt weird and invasive, but he couldn’t help it. He just loves you so much, and he gets lonely when you’re apart, and it smells like you. if you don’t know jax well enough, it’s very difficult to tell the difference between how he acts around his crush compared to how he acts around someone he simply doesn’t hate — this is because simply ‘liking’ someone isn’t enough to get him to stop being an asshole

as a matter of fact, it actually makes him worse

he spends more time around you than the other members of the circus, but that also means that you’re his most frequent bullying victim — and you being his crush doesn’t mean he’s going to go light on you (all it actually means is that you’re going to be the first person he looks to after messing with another member of the circus, and whose positive reactions encourage him the most whenever he pulls off a particularly funny joke or amusing prank)

he pranks you relentlessly both at the circus and during adventures: putting you in the line of fire, tripping you up when you walk, purposefully detaching any parts of your digital form that separate from your body, breaking into your room and leaving ‘gifts’ for you to find or just outright stealing things to mess with you, dragging you into the middle of his schemes while mocking you endlessly, etc.

and his teasing doesn’t just start and end at physical pranks as he makes a point to verbally bully you in just about every conversation you have — granted, it’s never completely mean spirited and if you pay close enough attention to him it’s clear that he’s just vying for your attention, but it’s certainly not nice either

he also makes a point to put down, bully, and degrade any other humans or npcs you’re around when you seem to be getting along with them more than usual

when you two are on adventures together jax’s behaviour also becomes noticeably more extreme (and, for everyone else around him, all the more frustrating) as he tries to keep your attention on him and get reactions out of you — usually this translates to more extreme acts of violence, riskier behaviour with the other humans, becoming more insulting/antagonistic towards the npcs you’re around, and being even more demanding and forceful with everyone else as he tries to get them to do what he wants

between tasks, when you’re just hanging out at the circus or when you’ve decided against participating for this particular mission, jax tends to just follow you around like a weird kind of lost puppy — constantly joking around, still being his annoying self, refusing to tell you the real reason why he’s always close by and lying about you just having funnier reactions than anyone else in the circus, but also just always being there and always trying to get you to react

it’s all very annoying at first, if a little confusing, but if you manage to put the pieces of it all together then it’s pretty easy to flip the situation on its head by making a point of blatantly ignoring jax in favour of spending time with other humans or flirting with some npcs — watch him get all huffy and annoyed until he’s finally forced to admit to his feelings (this could last a while, he’s a pretty stubborn guy, but with if you ignore him for long enough you may just force his hand)

✦ Assuming you’re more on the chill side than Zooble, it’s odd yet calming. It freaks him out that you’re just able to be calm in a situation like this, stuck inside this digital world and hoping that the next person doesn’t flip their lid. He sometimes fears (in secret) that your personality is just another front to keep you from abstracting.

✦ Over time Jax grew to like it; he’s still cautious, but it’s better than dealing with the others and gets to kick his feet up while the two of you talk.

✦ A lot of Jax’s nicknames are based on physical traits so that sums up what he calls you in the beginning, only after you started dating did they become “nicer sounding”. Sure his tone sounds insulting, but you know that it’s his form of endearment to you personally.

“Red”, “Ring-tail”, “Raccoon”, “Waddles”

(Based on the fact red panda’s hind legs are longer than their front.)

✦ Being a red panda comes with its perks; any adventures involving ice and snow may as well be a joke, considering the fact your fur is thick enough to prevent it. In general, you're a free blanket to this rabbit when needed, even outside of any adventures. “Hey [Name]! Jax needs his fancy coat, chop chop!”

✦ You’re an early bird and usually wake up long before anyone else. You either do your own thing before anyone wakes up or you go into Jax’s room. Unlike you, he wants his sleep, so he’ll let you in and go back to bed. “Just… I don’t know, lay next to me? No—Not on the edge of the bed, doofus—C’mere.”

✦ There were times in the beginning where you've been territorial over certain things. It took some time for you to get comfortable and stop panicking, allowing the others to come to your room and hangout. You got too comfortable and soon you knew when your things would go missing and who did it. (Yes he still does it. Yes he sometimes uses it as an excuse for you to visit.)

✦ You’re an excellent climber. Anything that’s been tossed up too high or needs to be placed to hide from someone? You can get to it in a few seconds tops. Jax sometimes takes advantage of this by taking stuff from the others and having you hide it. Pranks aren't usually your thing, it’s only something you participate in just to keep Jax happy for a moment. Once he’s satisfied and walks off, you’re the one who returns the item without issue.

You look over the edge to see Gangle with her body hunched over. Grabbing her notebook with your mouth, you then angle yourself before jumping on the colored blocks and landing near her.

You take the notebook out your mouth, placing it in your hand and pushing it in her direction. “Here you go, Gangle.”

A quiet sniffle sounds out as she looks up and takes the notebook back. The single teardrop disappears and she gives you a small smile. “Thanks, [Name].”

✦ Your claws are thankfully retractable. You’ve never used them to threaten the others in the circus and only used them to cut things open or as a defense tactic during adventures. Jax likes grabbing onto your paws and showing NPCs as a way to scare them, even if they aren’t threatening you.

Jax grabs your wrist and pushes his thumbs into your palm. Your claws pop out, the sun giving them a threatening shimmer.

“You see that?” Jax cackles. “Keep it up! And we’ll see what happens!”

The NPC shrinks and runs off in fear while you lightly tug your arm back and retract your claws. “I really doubt they were trying to harm us, Jax.”

He shrugs and places his hands behind his head. “Either way, no more problems.”

✦ Just because you’re his partner doesn’t mean you aren’t getting pranked. Sure, he could give you special treatment and do something or nothing at all, but where’s the fun in that? Considering how laidback you are he knows that you won't say/do much that he’ll get scolded. You’ve had to have moments where you’ve put your foot down and put on a stern persona when you weren’t in the mood to deal with it, only then does he tone it down.

✦ He slightly shuts down at that because you’re the only one that doesn’t really get mad at him. He’ll kinda be dry but still want to be close to you. He’ll either get over it or the two of you have a *gulp* heart to heart, ew.

✦ You’re the only one (that we know of) who has the privilege of going into his room. You’re not allowed to talk about what’s inside it or anything to the others, otherwise you get the temporary boot. You’re also given the key to his room, considering the fact he already has your key and he’ll come into your room whenever like it’s own space.

✦ If there was a moment before where there was an argument or something serious does he actually knock. He looks around the hall before talking to you through the door; the guy has a reputation to uphold and he’ll be damned if anyone sees in a vulnerable state and uses it as leverage (Another fear of his).

✦ Swearing isn’t your forte, so anyone who somehow made you curse is getting less, if any, respect from Jax. Your anger is something that can simmer and die, but someone purposefully pushing your buttons or bringing up sensitive topics into it gets under your skin badly.

✦ Arguments: They’re 99.8% playful and .2% not. For however long the two of you have been in this digital world, someone like Ragatha is most likely to know more info about the arguments you two had. Kinger as well, but he forgets them unless he’s in his pillowfort or in any dark place. He keeps it to himself, but will give you soft spoken advice (If you’ve figured out how he operates in the dark.)

✦ Problems with Jax are mostly based on his emotional state—“If I am a jerk to them, then maybe they’ll get frustrated and leave me alone.”—But you’re surprisingly patient, and suddenly that pisses him off cause it’s just not working on you. When you’re finally able to get him to open up, he already feels drained and just wants to lay down once it’s all said and done.

✦ Your laidback presence gives him the ability to relax. Him knowing you’ll take the time to listen to him rather than getting mad and stomping away was another thing that made him like you. He sometimes feels as though he doesn’t deserve for you to be with him—putting up a cocky persona to piss people off, you don’t deserve that attitude to be thrown your way with that patience of yours—Yet you stay and communicate.

✦ Gangle likes to stay near you a lot. She thinks you’re easy to talk to and won’t make fun of her interests/personality. She likes showing you the drawings she’s made in her notepad (Legit the highest honor) and gives you sketches of yourself to put into your room. Yes, she makes ship art of you and Jax that she also shares with you so long as you’re comfortable with it.

✦ You and Zooble are chill but they squint at you every time Jax pops up in the conversation, whether he’s the topic or there physically, they cannot help but wonder how the hell you two are together. Maybe angels really does exists and they sent you to deal with this snarky fucker, cause they’d just go insane.

✦ Ragatha is also another person who can’t believe that you’re dating Jax. Don’t get her wrong, she is in support of it and is glad that the two of you are happy with each other, but she just wonders what kind of tolerance level you have to deal with stuff like this. You’re her secret weapon of choice sometimes and communicates with you to put the guy on a leash or at least to tone down some things he’s done.

✦ Kinger is able to stand near you, but he somehow mistakes you for a bear sometimes. If he's in his logical state then I guarantee he gives you stories and gives advice to you about making the relationship last. If you try to tell Jax that Kinger gave you advice, he laughs it off or goes quiet.

✦ Pomni is confused but hey, it’s not her business (Lie). She does get glances at your relationship and tries to ask Jax about it, but she immediately gets brushed off by him. You on the other hand are down to tell the story (but leave a few details out for personal reasons of course) and watch her reactions. Jax has grabbed you by the scruff or arm to pull you away each time and telling the jester to mind her business. Either way, you sometimes invite her into your room to chat and it actually brings a smile to her face—A sense of normalcy is in this wacky world.

✦ Just because you’re the most chill one doesn’t mean you come with your own set of problems. You tug at the digital fur on your arms, you sometimes look like you’re relaxing when you’re actually thinking if there will ever be a way to get out.

✦ You don’t really communicate that with Jax as you don’t want him to start freaking out nor do you wanna risk any sort of abstraction, so that laidback personality of yours tries to rationalize that you just need more time until the exit finally pops in. Your persona, while true, is another average defense mechanism just like the others in the digital circus. But until that day comes, you’ve got Jax and the others to get along with until then.

but he doesnt let it show- at least not in the way of "hes going to cry and mourn outwardly", he doesnt like crying around others. actually he doesnt like crying in general, he wouldnt even do it around you if there was ever a need for it

hes more likely to show off his grief in the form of being more of an annoyance or leaning deeper into his "i dont care" attitude. hes not as bothered about your loss as people might think why would anyone ever think that? ignore how defensive he gets whenever someone brings you up or asks him how hes doing- because hes doing fiiiiiiiine! hes fine! theres nothing wrong, hes okay its no big deal

he doesnt like looking at your room- he doesnt even like looking at the door when he walks down the hall to his own room. its like the red X over your picture is silently taunting him

it hurts and it makes him angry but he doesnt have the nerve to cover your door or vandalize it. hes not heartless enough to disrespect the dead like that- even if youre technically still alive

It takes time for Jax to develop feelings for you, he really has to know someone well enough

and for the longest time he’s in denial when it comes to his feelings for you

he’ll start to get kind of grabby when he has a crush on you, he might try to make small talk by wrapping an arm around your shoulder

he is a lot taller than you, he will definitely grab your stuff and hold it above his head laughing at your pathetic attempts to get it back

it becomes kind of obvious he’s pretty drawn to you, when anyone confronts him about it, his response is always

“don’t know what your talkin’ about” or “what kind of sucker do you take me for? Romance and feelings ain’t really my thing”

it takes him forever to finally have the realization dawned on him that he actually likes you more than he thinks he does

At first he obviously saw you as someone just to mess with, and those feelings grew into a thought of Maybe they Aren’t so bad, until Why can’t I get them Out of my head?!

He’s not that experienced with that type of stuff, hell he doesn’t even go as near as to talk about whatever is bothering him

He’s mad at you that you made him feel this way, and since he doesn’t like to talk about whats bothering him he brings such a sour mood to the circus

That really got to Jax, he wasn’t showing it and continued to pretend like Zooble was just making stuff up, but what Z said really got to him

Its a good thing that Zooble eventually left because it gives Jax a minute to think

After Zooble talked to him, he was quickly back to his old self

Imagine: Reader gets a bit too close to a new character, and Jax gets jealous. How does he respond?

You and Jax have always been close. Everyone in the circus knew this. Mainly because you were partners in crime, pranking everyone in sight together.

Jax would never admit it--not to you--but he had always enjoyed your company. You didn't think of him as some 2-dimensional asshole, but rather someone who actually had a life before. He felt.. seen.

On good days, you'd spend a bit of time in his room with him, chatting about nothing in particular.

Yup, I'm lying. The two of you gossiped about everyone all day. Bantering, teasing, joking.. Jax found himself growing increasingly fond of you. Eventually, he had put his full trust in you.

One day, a new sucker joins the circus. It happens every now and then, but not often, so he finds himself intrigued. Apparently, not as much as you were.

You and the new person became friends immediately. Jax is glad you were able to find someone to relate to, as you were both still pretty new.

Doesn't think much of the two of you at first. He's not immediately jealous, don't worry, his confidence is still intact.

So you start spending more and more time with them. Jax does miss you, but he's, again, not that fragile. He doesn't really care, neither does he care to know the person's name that you started spending all your time with.

He will get slightly more antsy around you, though. Doesn't ask you to join in on pranks anymore, since he thinks you're too busy. Okay, he's just dragging himself away from you at this point.

Jax will watch from afar as you and your friend chit chat and what not.. hoping you still cared for him, and then he just happens to spot the two of your hands were interlocked with eachother.

Surprisingly, that wasn't his final straw. Although, when you had talked to him earlier, he was much more tense with you. He forced laughs, and had a constant envious glint in his eyes.

He would've been fine, if you had just went up, introduced yourself to the new fella, and went on to your day. You could've stayed in a safe relationship with them where you only talked sometimes because of circumstance.

But that's not what happened, huh? Now, you had only spent about two minutes a day with him. And he missed you. There, he admitted it. And if he was being honest, he always wanted you and him to be something.. maybe something more. He's not too confident that's going to happen now, though. He felt overlooked.

You just now begin to notice the edge to his voice. Suddenly, he feels a lot more hostile to be around. He'd mumble about nothing in particular, be lots more rude around you. Ruder than usual, at least. And sometimes, he didn't even want to look you in the eye. Part of you thought that it was something you did.. and a small part of you thought he was just close to abstracting. But you knew him better than that. He had a better mental state than Kaufmo ever did.

One night, he decides to approach you about this. He didn't want to live in silence forever, did he? He also didn't want to.. live without you. But when he knocked on your door, his response was a hollow room.

Jax goes to Ragatha for answers, and tells him that the last she heard of you, you were on your way to the new fella's room. If anything was his last straw, this would be it.

But how else is he supposed to drag you away from them? He'd need a reason, and all he's got right now is.. either admitting he missed you, or admitting to something even more mushy and gushy. He did not feel like doing that at the moment.

Instead, it ends up accidentally slipping out in one of your conversations. Not the liking you romantically thing, but the, uh, missing you thing.

Hearing that he missed you left your heart soaring a mile a minute. I mean, sure, you were close, but.. Jax doesn't normally care for anyone. Except for.. you, apparently.

After you were able to silence the flush look on your face, you questioned him about it. He told you about how much time you've been spending with the "newbie", and how he just misses your company, is all. It didn't seem like everything, though. You decided to save that question for another conversation.

So, he was jealous? Hah, he denied it, but you knew better. You had apologized to him, and agreed to set up a prank on Zooble later that day. His voice no longer felt as tense, and you saw a glint of his usual cheeky grin coming back to him. You smiled back. Not before teasing him relentlessly about it, though.

Pomni: You'd have to be the one to ask. She is very nervous. The first few times the kiss lasts like one second. She blushes, grabs the end of her hat, and hides her face. Though overall very happy :).

Jax: 50/50 on who asks first. But if you ask first expect him to poke fun at you for a minute before kissing you. If you get flustered he is very smug about it. I don't think he'd be that flustered but if he is then he doesn't show it. Also, he moves his lips to talk sometimes and he's opened his mouth so I think he can move his lips to kiss you...?

Ragatha: I think she would be more likely to ask. Very soft (lol). After the first few times she just kinda pecks you on the cheek randomly. Would be the type to give you a congratulatory kiss. She picks you up and spins you and everything.

Gangle: You'd 100% have to be the one to ask. It's a little awkward 'cause her face is completely flat so you might squish your noise while giving her kisses. Despite the kisses being cold, hard, and forcing you to position your face weirdly they'll actually be quite nice! She'd smile in a way that would resemble her comedy mask (just with more permanent tears)

Zooble: You might have to ask(I'll expand on that). Can't really kiss? It'd probably be between their eyes if anything. They feel like those fake food toys (there's a specific brand I'm thinking of) Anyway the reason you'd have to ask is cause they don't really care. Not in a mean way but they don't see it as a big thing. Very chill about it.

Kinger: You'd have to ask. Again don't know how you'd kiss but even less. Not going to think about it too much. Nervous wreck. Still scared of losing another partner so this is a big step for him okay? I've never played chess or touched a chess piece. All the pieces look like metal to me, but he looks like he's smoothed down wood. So don't dude.

Caine: 50/50 on who asks. Weird fucking experience. Have you ever kissed a person's teeth? I haven't but that sounds uncomfortable. Very showy about kissing you. But if you don't like that he'd tone it down a few notches.

Tugs on his gloves when he’s nervous

He doesn’t fidget in obvious ways, but if he’s stressed or anxious, he’ll subtly tug at the fingers of his gloves. The worse he feels, the tighter he pulls.

Sometimes his voice gets quiet when he talks about himself 

He can be loud and obnoxious all day long, but the second he starts talking about something real – his past, his feelings, even just personal opinions – his voice drops. Not in an obvious way, but just enough that you can tell he’s not used to being listened to.

Hates the idea of being needed

I feel like deep down he actually wants people to like him, to want him around (he achieves the exact opposite with his actions because he's too much of a pussy coward to let anyone get close) BUT the second he feels like someone needs him, he panics. He doesn’t trust himself to be dependable. He doesn’t trust himself at all. And the thought of failing someone? It’s unbearable.

Absolutely cannot handle someone crying

If someone starts crying in front of him, his first instinct is to joke about it. Not because he thinks it’s funny, but because he panics. He has no idea how to comfort people, and deep down, it makes him feel sick because he knows he’s the type of person who makes people cry.

Hates silence 

If it gets too quiet, he starts feeling awkward. That’s why he always has to be talking, pranking, teasing, joking or anything that gets the conversation going. Sometimes he would just tap his foot or drum his fingers against his leg. The silence is too... empty.

He doesn’t like being ignored

Not in the haha, I’m an attention-seeker way, but in a deeper, more painful way. If someone he secretly cares about starts avoiding him or just excludes him from the conversation, it absolutely wrecks him. He won’t show it, but inside, it feels like he’s disappearing. (Imagine what he felt when the others didn’t invite him to Kaufmo’s funeral…)

Doesn’t like being touched unexpectedly 

If someone touches him out of nowhere (especially if he wasn’t paying attention) his whole body tenses up like he’s expecting something bad to happen (I can very much see him having PTSD from something SA related I’m so sorry…..). He covers it up with a joke or a smug comment, but the stiffness in his shoulders remains for a very long time, before he’s able to calm himself down. 

He's also not used to physical touch as a way of showing love/affection (he can't even remember the last time someone hugged him – if that ever even happened in the circus).

Breaks alone

Jax never cries in front of people – he’d rather die first. But when he’s alone in his room, with no one to see, it’s different. He’ll sit on the edge of his bed, staring at the floor, fists clenched so tight his fingers ache. He tells himself he’s fine, that it doesn’t matter, that it’s just another day in this stupid circus. But the lump in his throat doesn’t go away. Neither does the stinging in his eyes. And when it finally gets too much, when the weight of everything presses down on him just right, he’ll let out one shaky breath, then another, and another, until he finally breaks.

Quietly. Always quietly.

Because even when no one’s watching, he still hates looking weak.

★ Omg you love Bubble. Fellow little guy. The bond you have as fellow creatures is unmatched. Not a single thought forms as the two of you munch on apple slices and orange juice. Both of you are on the same level.

★ Caine gives you special privileges to hunker down and ignore everything. Not feeling like existing? It's okay! Just go relax, there's always tomorrow. Needing a minute for yourself happens, Zooble is the same.

★ Sometimes mind go burr and need to walk in circles. Imagine little storys. Great fun. Caine doesn't know what HD's are but apparently you've got 80 of them. Good job!

★ Your a little overstimulated? No problem, there's some weighted blankets in kingers room. And Ragatha has some noise canceling headphones if you need them. Take as long as you need!

★ Jax is an asshole, he will always be an asshole. Even if you got the mighty tism. The worst thing he's done to you is change the blankets on your bed to something that gives you the ick. Love cotton? Haha. You're getting velvet.
