TRIPLE FRONTIER (2019) Grosse exclusivité NETFLIX du moment, le TRIPLE FRONTIER de J.C. Chandor -MARGIN CALL (2011)-: la plate-forme de SVOD s’exile de son cheminement post-apo de 2018 pour nous proposer cet actioner intelligent, et bienvenu. TRIPLE FRONTIER, c’est avant tout ses personnages, cinq amis de longue date, incarnés par un casting incroyable: Ben Affleck tout d’abord, toujours aussi bon depuis ses virées à Gotham chez Zack Snyder, Charlie Hunnam -PACIFIC RIM (2013)-, Oscar Isaac -STAR WARS VII & VIII (2015-2017)-, le discret mais efficace Pedro Pascal -KINGSMAN (2017), GAME OF THRONES (2011-2019)- et surtout Garett Hedlund, bien trop rare depuis l’inégalable TRON LEGACY (2010) et à nouveau excellant dans son rôle. S’ouvrant sur une impressionnante intervention en plein cœur des favelas -une véritable mise en scène égalant n’importe quelle grosse mission spectaculaire et bien pensée d’un CALL OF DUTY - MODERN WARFARE-, TRIPLE FRONTIER nous montre son contexte soigné et détaillé, tel le souffle de cette grenade envoyée au lance-patate grâce à un tir d’exception: oui, si l’action est là, le film de J.C. Chandor est bien un long-métrage de narration, car peu importent les balles qui fusent. Réunissant ce quintet de soldats vétérans acceptant l’opportunité de mettre la mains sur un pactole colossal, TRIPLE FRONTIER envoie cette équipe de potes aux divers profils -le daron endetté et serein “uniquement lorsqu’il tient une arme”, celui qui est soumis à la justice après avoir dealé de trop, un autre qui foncera à l’aveugle à l’aventure de par son indéfectible loyauté, etc...- effectuer cette opération militaire privée à haut risque, ultime “coup” qui aura un prix... La bonne idée de TRIPLE FRONTIER est de montrer sans arrogance ses passages les plus tendus -la longue scène de l’hélico, superbement filmée, avec cette évocatrice notion d’espoir des protagonistes d’éteignant juste après avoir vu le soleil poindre au-delà des cimes enneigées des Andes, avant que l’appareil doive se crasher en urgence-, évoquant chaque conséquence de chaque acte effectué. L’amitié des cinq hommes sera mise à rude épreuve pendant TRIPLE FRONTIER, l’appât du gain n’étant que le début des inquiétudes de chacun. J.C. Chandor nous rappelle aussi que l’argent en lui-même n’est rien, et que la fonction qu’on lui donne ne vaut peut-être pas le baroud de déshonneur imprévu que les personnages finiront par réaliser malgré eux: on note une bienveillante intelligence d’interactions, que ce soit par l’amusant feu de joie improbable, où l’équipe hilare, presque insouciante, fait un feu de camp avec des millions de dollars en billets, alors, lorsque ces potes s’excusent de leurs réactions excessives -la pression de la mission-, sans JAMAIS se trahir. Remettant en question leur éthique, leur morale d’être humains et de soldats, TRIPLE FRONTIER semble ne jamais s’arrêter, pour une plaisir en continu: vous vous souvenez de LA BÊTE DE GUERRE (1988) et de sa réinterprétation subtile du genre “film de guerre”, grâce à cette humanité traversant l’écran? Et bien, TRIPLE FRONTIER fait de même, mais en axant cette empathie, ce drame et cette gravité réaliste de son sujet à travers ces anti-héros ô combien tenaces. Qui ne dirait pas non à la chance d’une vie entre frères d’armes, une dernière mission de braquage militaire rondement menée? Nous poussant à une certaine réflexion sociale, J.C. Chandor révèle ainsi son savoir-faire, à travers deux heures qui font littéralement prendre vie au morceau FOR WHOM THE BELLS TOLLS de Metallica, et ce sans redite conceptuelle. Avec sa fin dévastante de tristesse et d’honneur, TRIPLE FRONTIER est tout simplement du GRAND cinéma à la maison, anti-film de guerre neuronal et plein de sens, aussi humain qu’un cœur qui bat. Un voyage dont on ne ressort pas indemne: on attend plus que chaudement une suite; encore une victoire pour NETFLIX, J.C. Chandor, et pour nous! Un des gros films de 2019, sans aucun doute.
