Omg wait this is so random but I’m England it’s quite common to call someone ‘sausage’ as a term of endearment and I can’t stop thinking about going up to Danny Johnson or Michael Myres and saying ‘hi sausage :)’ or something like ajsidiej it’s so funny to me because I highly doubt they understand what it means lmao

The Ghost Face/Danny Johnson

Even though he’s like a 37 year old man, I’m telling you, Danny knows his slang. Not just generational slang, but slang that is used in all sorts of different countries; so believe me when I tell you that he knows what “Hi Sausage” means. Literally, if you asked him if he speaks any other language other than English, he’d say “I’m fluent in slang.” Danny is a man child and you can’t tell me otherwise.

When you greet him with “Hi Sausage” for the first time, Danny cracks up laughing. Yeah, he knows you're just greeting him in a playful, friendly way, but still. He can’t help it. Just the way you say it has him bursting out laughing. He’s literally crying. Once he calms down, he’ll wipe the tears and take some deep breaths; however, when he tries to greet you back, he ends up thinking about you saying “Hi Sausage” and he bursts out laughing again. 

Don’t be surprised if he calls you pet names or gives you some of his slang from his slang-abase back. He knows so much slang that he can make coherent sentences with just slang itself: Danny could, one day, invent an actual new language it. Seriously! I told you his second language was slang. You’d be like “Hi Sausage” and Danny would reply “Suh sweetheart! How are ya going? I see you got the drip on. It’s pretty lit.” Yeah… something along those lines… 

I hope you know more than just “Hi Sausage” because he’ll challenge you to a slang contest. I have never played Danny’s slang contest, but it’s basically just you making sentences with only slang and you can mix match slang too. You lose if you have even one word in your sentence that isn’t some sort of slang. It’s actually pretty funny: it gets you and Danny laughing. However, Danny always wins. No surprise there.

Michael Myers

Did you just call him a sausage?! Michael is offended… He doesn’t know why you called him a sausage; does he look like breakfast food? Yeah… Michael does not understand at all. Also, did I mention how offended he was? He doesn’t understand slang. He’s been locked away in an asylum for most of his life so how could he get the latest update on how kids these days say stuff? 

You’ll have to explain to him what you really meant: after he calms down. He was pretty mad that you called him a breakfast food. Even then, he still doesn’t understand even after you explained it to him. How is calling someone a sausage a friendly greeting? Can’t you greet him like a normal human-being? Meaning exclude the sausage part. 

Nonetheless, you still greet him with “Hi Sausage” all the time. Michael thinks you say it on purpose to annoy him because you know it irritates him when you say it. Though it is fun to annoy him, he did find out you greet all your friends with your favorite slang. Yeah… he’s been stalking you a lot. For real though. He’s just making sure you're not just saying it to only him to irritate him. Even though you totally are trying to irritate him.

Michael literally steals your phone when you're not around and looks up this “Hi Sausage” slang to understand why you say it. He needs to know! It’s killing him! He just doesn’t understand this whole slang thing and Google isn’t doing a good job explaining it either. Help him!

Johnny groaned into his pillow flapping his legs in annoyance. He was tired. He was sick and tired of waiting for you to call him. It’s been months since you disappeared saying you’ll call him after his graduation. No longer a high school student, he couldn’t just walk into school searching for you. You moved away without telling him and he needed to find you.

Springing up from his bed, he grabbed a coat and ran to the only place he knew would help him find you. If you were gonna disappear from his life, he wanted you to at least now his feelings so he wouldn’t regret it.

“Sooyoung-ah! I need your help!” he called standing in front of her gate, banging his fist against the gate. He heard her dog barking as she tumbled out hitting the gate before she opened it.

“Suh?” She leaned against the gate frame, “Why are you here?

"Do you know where she lives?”

She scoffed at him, nodding her head as she leads him into her living area. Planted on the floor in front of the tv, you slurped on ramyeon and cried, “Soo-ah! They killed him!”

Snapping your neck towards their direction, your eyes fell on the tallboy who came scurrying down to his knees beside you. He came close to your body and took hold of your face between his hands. His eyes were glossy and frowning, “Where did you go? Why didn’t you answer my calls and texts?? Why did you move without telling me??”

Stunt at his closeness, your face flushed lightly and butterflies fluttered in your stomach. “My.. My line was cut.”

“And?”

“I didn’t have enough money to pay the rent.” you held your breath when he leaned against your shoulder. Wet tears fell on it as you noticed his body shake a bit.

“I thought you left somewhere far.”

“Why would I do that, Johnny?” you rubbed his back asking.

He sat up leaning close to your face. Forehead touching, you felt his warm breath on your lips, “Let’s date.”

Blinking at him, you pushed him away from you. “What are you saying, Suh?”

“Y/N, I like you. I have ever since we first met. I don’t want to lose you again.”

“No, Johnny, you’re not thinking straight.”

“I’ll wait.”

Taking in a deep breath, you asked, “How long will you be waiting?”

“For as long as it takes you to accept that you like me too.”

After getting into college and interning at some tech company, Johnny visited his hometown way lesser then he hoped he would. It got hard making time for vacation even for just a week. Winter break and summer break were taken by IT camps and family, meeting you got hard.

First year, he was keen on keeping you as close he could but he didn’t think that he’d go to college hours away.

Second year, he went back only to find out that you moved to the city for college which was farther from him. He met you for a split moment at Soonyoung’s Christmas party before he had to leave cause he had to meet his parents.

Third year, he didn’t meet you at all.

Currently, Fourth and final year, he was on winter break before finals and preparing to move back to his hometown. Living near his parents was the best choice. He had a job waiting, a place ready for him to live in, family near by and you hopefully.

“Are you sure she is moving back?” He asked, laying back on the concrete beside Sooyoung. The cars passed by, lamp-post flickering and the sky was a mighty dark blue sprinkled with gold stars.

“Her brother needs her. She couldn’t stay there while he is here.”

“How did they manage two years apart?” He turned towards her and sat up. “Did he move too?”

Sooyoung laughed at him with a smirk, “Her brother was living with you parents, stupid.”

“WHAT??” His jaw dropped, as he springed up from the concrete. “See you later!”

Watching him running, she checked the time and said to herself, “She is probably already here.”

Wind pushed against him, he ran and ran as fast as he could to his parents house. Reaching his childhood neighbourhood, he spotted a truck outside his compound building and rocketed up stairs with the aid his long legs.

At front of his parents apartment, he saw you smiling at them with your arms around his mother. Your brother, laughed at whatever his father said, turned towards him. “Oh hyung?”

Tilting your head his way, your eyes widened. Your breath hitched when he came tumbling closer to you, wrapping his arms around your body.

“You’re here” he whispered into your hair. “I missed you so much. I am so glad you came back..”

Pulling away, he gave his parents stank eyes before scowling at them, “How come I didn’t know he was living here??”

Giving him an awkward laugh, you placed your hand on his chest, “I told them not to tell you..”

His heart clenched a little at your action. “Why?”

“I.. I don’t know..”

He pulled your eyes to his and smiled softly, “Can I take you somewhere?”

Blinking, you turned to your brother and asked, “Can you get to our new apartment alone?”

Johnny’s mother chuckled waving her hands in front of your face, “We will take him, don’t worry dear! Please fix our poor Johnny! He is a mess thinking about you!”

“Mom!” He scoffed, pulling you by your wrist away from his parent’s apartment. His heart hammered in his chest having you so close to him yet he couldn’t hold you and kiss you for you weren’t his. Not yet, he thought.

Biting his lips, hands wrapped around yours. He checked a box of his bucket list when he felt your hand fit perfectly in his. Your hands were not as soft as he imagined but it made sense, you worked hard to live. Still, it made his chest feel breathless.

The Christmas sentiments was high. Twinkle lights and freshly baked bread was the aesthetic of the city. The little outdoor restaurant Johnny chose bleeded Christmas with its decoration and menu. Couples spread the entire area made your heart flutter. It felt as if you and his were an item. As in boyfriend, girlfriend. But liking Johnny didn’t seem fair to you nor did him liking you. You didn’t know each other to say, ‘I like you’, and for it to mean all of you.

“Johnny?” you stopped mixing your coffee abruptly, locking eyes with him. “Are you gonna ask me out again?”

“Yeah, i am planning on it..” he trailed off, pink clouds painting themselves on his cheeks. “Will you go out with me?”

“I am sorry..”

“It’s okay… i didn’t expect anything.” But you saw a flash of sadness in his eyes before he looked at you with a soft smile. “I’ll still wait.”

The morning started great. You woke up extra early to prepare the oven for some baking and the weather was just so beautiful which motivated you ever so subtly.

Living at your birthplace felt amazing. The many years you lived there didn’t seem to take the kick out of living there. Everything was still fun and new. Sooyoung was married now with a one-year-old, a soldier lost too soon. Your brother graduated and moved to the city for college and you stayed behind working in the primary school you went to as a kid.

Ever since Christmas of 2017, Johnny spent more time around you. He was still kind and showered you with affection. The perks of living back home was having him there too.

At first, Johnny made you feel uncomfortable, a smidge. You couldn’t be around him without your heart racing and thinking about having him close to you but you put up a wall. You made the rule of getting to know each other first. You didn’t want to break it first.

Later, Johnny became some form of home. His family invited you and your brother for almost every family trip and event. He came over whenever you felt sad. He took care of you whenever you were hurt. He helped with taking care of your brother and even with enrolling him into college. He acted as a guardian for your brother and as a safe haven for you to run back to whenever you needed to.

“Butter, vanilla essence, egg,” you listed off unconsciously pouring them into a mixing bowl. “Should I shape them?” you asked yourself mixing the ingredients.

An hour before getting to work, washed up and checked on the oven making sure your third batch of cookies were okay. “Beautiful day for beautiful reasons” you sighed, gazing out the window with your eyes trained on a certain tall male who got off his car.

Just as you tucked the cookies properly into the tupperware, you heard knocking from your door. Blinking, your heart picked up a little pace bit by bit. It felt as if your heart was gonna jump out of your ribs leaving you breathless in result. Taking a deep breath, you walked to the door and opened it.

Your eyes met with Johnny’s. A tender smile was itched on his face every time you saw him. Taking a leap of courage, you tiptoed wrapping your arms around his neck pulling him down. Clenching your eyes shut, your lips finally touched his.

His lips pulled you in as he found a home for his hands at your waist. He pulled you closer with a sense of urgency as if you’d disappear if he let you go from his hold. He sighed into the kiss as you parted from him only for him to lean in for another kiss and again and again till he needed to stop for a breather.

Placing his forehead against yours, he opened his eyes to catch yours already staring up at him with a gentle softness.

“I like you, Johnny.” You whispered with a shy smile.

His face flushed redder than it already was and you were pretty sure you mirrored his state right now too.

Leaning down gently, his breath fell on your lips when he breathed out, “I love you.” Before placing under kiss on your lips, dragging you further inside your apartment.

“I think I love you, Johnny.”

SUMMARY ― Her early arrival had made Johnny happy but he didn't know that what he was going to find out would make him the happiest.

Ever since she is married to Johnny, at first she was quite worried, always on edge whenever she was all alone with him.

But after having the first conversation with Johnny during the first night, she knew deep in her mind that Johnny was someone different.

No matter how much she wanted to tell herself that Johnny could be the same as her abusive ex-boyfriend, Johnny proved her wrong. Everyday, he would never fail to prove to her and she decided to show her vulnerable side, finally breaking the walls as she decided to trust him.

In result, she opened her heart too and Katerina actually did fall for him but till now, she didn’t have the courage to confess to him - afraid that he didn’t have the same feelings as her.

Even when she got the result of a pregnancy test, the result was positive and the first person she called was Taeil’s wife, Aurora, instead of Johnny.

Katerina could remember how scared she was till she was crying due to her panic attacks and the fact that both of them were in different countries makes it more difficult for Katerina.

“I don’t know what to do! I can’t just tell Johnny! I don’t even know if he wants—

“Kat! Kat! Hey, calm down! Listen to me, I need you to calm down, okay babe?”

“....Yeah, yeah…”

“Okay, listen. I have known the guys and including Johnny for almost 7 years now… I can assure you that Johnny would absolutely. want. the baby. Well, actually the NCT guys love kids except for some of the Dream boys.. I mean they are kids themselves.. I mean no offence to them but yeah..”

“.......Rory, I don’t know…..”

“You have to tell Johnny sooner or later, Kat. You know him, he will probably get sulky if the others find out first.”

And that conversation was 3 months ago when she was in Italy, where she had to work overseas for the first time - and she had to stay in Italy for a year.

She could remember how tough it was to negotiate with Johnny - but of course in the end she got what she wanted by allowing Johnny to come and visit, to see how she was doing, spending time with each other.

And one steamy night happened due to them missing each other a little too much.

That night made her realise that she completely fell for him - with how he would ask for her consent although they have passed the stage. She loves how soft and gentle he is when handling her in bed and the aftercare actually made her all soft for him.

‘I should have told him earlier…’

As of now, she had stepped out of the airport of Korea while on one hand gripping onto her luggage and another would be her phone, texting her husband that she is on the way back and warning him not to come and fetch her since she knows Johnny is busy.

She decided to call her best friend, Aurora, who is Taeil’s wife.

“Have you arrived safely?”

“Yeah, I’m on my way home now.”

“Do you need me or one of the Dream boys to get—

Katerina could only chuckle upon hearing how worried her friend is, who is also a wife to the eldest member of N-127.

“No, thank you, Mrs Moon. I’m fine and I have my own ride anyway....” Katerina smiled as she buckled her seatbelt while tapping into her slightly big bump on her stomach.

“Okay, then Mrs Suh. I’ll get going and will probably visit you in a day or two! Be careful on the way home. Love you!”

“I love you too, Aurora!”

With the call ended, Katerina quickly started her car engine.

The ride took about less than 10 minutes, entering her own mansion where she and Johnny lived.

‘It seems he isn’t home.’

Turning the steering wheel, she parked her car right in front of the doorsteps. She didn’t even know how she managed to carry two luggages on her own, but at last she managed to go in.

Sighing heavily and coincidentally, she felt the ache on her back - straightening her back while putting her hand on her back.

“...I love babies but the process sucks.”

Somehow the housekeepers were chilling in the living room and as soon as they saw their lady boss, all of them scramble their way to help her but their eyes immediately go towards her weirdly big stomach.

Before they could even question, Katerina had already confirmed their thoughts that she is pregnant, telling them full - well not full details. The housekeepers love Katerina.

The other lady bosses they had worked for, they are very demanding and bossy - always treating the housekeepers like they aren’t humans.

Katerina was someone special, even her friends, which is the Elinovas Angels, she is kind, thoughtful and funny. She is loved by many.

A few hours later, snacks such as peanut butter sandwiches, hard-boiled eggs, greek yoghurt with strawberries on top and a smoothie were being put on the living room table.

Katerina, dressed in a pajama, where her top almost couldn’t button down her stomach, was laying on her back while reading a magazine, humming her heart out while enjoying her afternoon.

She didn’t hear the front door opened nor some of the housekeepers greeting someone, until a tall figure showed himself, his eyes landing towards the variety of snacks - before turning his eyes on the lady who was just enjoying her time.

There was a huge grin on his face. “Baby!”

She was munching a strawberry and she immediately stopped, turning towards a certain figure, sitting up immediately - forgetting the ache on her back until she felt that pain which caused her to hiss.

Johnny quickly goes towards her, crouching down towards her - kind of helping her to get up. His brows furrowed with concern, looking at the state of his wife.

‘Did something happen?’

‘Did someone assault her?’

‘..Or did she accidentally bump into the son of a bitch which is her ex? No way.. I should have killed him when I had the chance..’

“...Babygirl, that hissed sounded like you were in pain. Are you okay? Did something happen? I told you I could just end the meeting with Taeyong to fetch you yet you being stub— Is it me or your stomach kind of grew? I mean I’m not calling you fat. I mean even if you are fat, I would still lo— Hmmph!”

Katerina covered his mouth, and yet he was still muttering words which both of them couldn’t even understand. “Youngho.” She called then, sighing, as she got ready to say the next words.

“I’m pregnant.”

There was a slight pause of silence, with Johnny’s face turned serious and cold - which made her feel slightly scared.

Smiling sadly, Katerina took out the three ultrasound pictures under the pillow, the other two were normal while the other had a gender that was written - which is a boy.

Johnny slowly took the ultrasound from her hands, shuffling the pictures before stopping at the last one - there was something written with white marker.

‘It’s a boy!!’

“...Mine..?” Johnny muttered out and Katerina nodded, biting the inner part of her mouth. She was on the verge of crying, seeing how uninterested Johnny sounded and looked.

She knew he didn’t want it.

“I’m so—

Before she could even speak, Johnny had her into his arms - his long arms wrapping onto her figure which made her kind of confused, feeling her head being caressed.

“Why didn’t you tell me anything!? I feel so betrayed! Do you know how badly I wanted a kid?! A mini me— of course and you too- like I wanted someone with me to prank the other guys! I—

“Wait! Hold on!” Katerina cuts off Johnny abruptly, who was already sitting on the floor with crossed legs - kind of pouting slightly as he rants.

“Y-you.. You aren’t mad?” Katerina muttered, looking confused.

“Mad? Why would I be mad?”

“Because you don’t…. you don’t want it?”

Johnny’s face that looks pouty turns stunned, looking at her in disbelief. “Wha— Why would you think that way? I may be working with a group that is known to be ruthless but.. I love babies.. I want one.. I’m sad that you think that way of me..”

Johnny’s voice came out disappointed. Katerina’s face immediately softened, slightly smiling at him before taking his hands - gripping slightly with her hands. “I’m sorry, Youngho. I just.. I thought… Work is important to you and I didn’t want to bother you.”

Now it was Johnny’s turn to have his face soften in admiration, staring at her while cupping her cheeks. “...As soon as I married you, you weren’t even a bother to me. You are like.. It’s cringey but.. my soulmate. I know I don’t say this often, but I genuinely love you. All I want from us is to have our own little family, and this is it.”

If Johnny could laugh right now, he would but it would break the atmosphere - seeing Katerina’s mouth open in shock. He could only giggle while pushing her chin up gently - before leaning forward as his lips came in contact with hers, giving her a peck on the lips.

“..I can’t believe it.. Mini me..” Johnny muttered, his hands already rubbing onto her belly. Katerina could only gaze onto his face, seeing how elated he is - obviously not listening to him basically talking to her belly.

All she knows is that marrying Johnny wasn't so bad - instead she is lucky to meet a man like Johnny.

She emotionally came a long way, not wanting to trust another man but it was thanks to Johnny that he didn’t give up on her.

“Katerina.” He called, causing her to look towards him with a humm.

There was a slight smile on his face before engulfing her into a slightly tight hug.

“I love you, I will love the baby just as how much I love you, always and forever.”

𖠚 synop: meeting johnny at a party is like fate pulling you together. or, maybe it was the way-too-big crowd of people that pushed you outside and then together. either way, you could swear it’s love at first sight.

there was a crowd of ppl around you, the smell of alcohol and birthday cake coated around your nostrils so tight it was nauseating. before you were here, it seemed like a great idea to come to your best friend ningning’s birthday party, i mean, who would want to miss their best friends birthday party? although, by now, you were easily regretting that.

you couldn’t even hear your own thoughts over the sounds of other people’s laughter, conversations overlapping and chatter tugging at your ear’s so much it hurt. you were looking around, mainly for the door outside to catch a breath from this chaos, when you saw him. a tall man, maybe 6’1, and you felt a little tug in your heart. it was small, almost unnoticeable if you weren’t paying attention, but it was there.

after a little bit of pushing, you made it out of the crowd, stepping outside ningning’s door and letting out a sigh of relief. it was nighttime, the street was dark and quiet, only the sound of the wind and the trees ruffling could be heard in the distance. you leaned back against the wall of her house, crossing your arms. although, you immediately startled from that position when the door opened, and your eyes fell on the same man you saw just a few minutes ago.

“overwhelmed?” he asked, his voice smooth as he leaned closed the door behind him and leaned against the wall next to you.

your jumpiness from a few seconds ago definitely died down, but you could still feel your heart beating pretty prominently in your chest. “yeah… i’m not really a big party kinda person.” you mumbled in reply, leaning back against the wall again, just close enough to him where you were in his bubble. crossing the lines, a bit.

he hummed, nodding and looking over you before looking up at the sky. the stars must be very interesting today. “well, you look nice.” he replied, changing the subject onto you so immediately it almost gave you mental whiplash.

“oh… thanks,” you replied, your cheeks feeling a little hot. you glanced over at him, eyes raking over his clothes. you could get a better image of him from here, and, wow… he was fine. “you look nice too.” you added quietly, your voice smaller.

“who’d you come here with? i don’t think i’ve heard ningning talk about you before,” you asked.

johnny let out a soft chuckle. “ah, i’m a friend of a friend. if i’m being honest, don’t know ningning that well, i’m just here for the cake.” he joked.

you couldn’t help but laugh, too.

there was something about him, just about his aura, that carried a strange warmth. a sense of comfort, safety. you had met creepy men before for sure, and he didn’t give that vibe at all. no matter what it was about him, you had a feeling something good was gonna come out of this.

homecoming weekend: Capture The Flag !!

As the sun begins to set on the west coast, Nemean Lion’s campus begins to welcome more guests into the Demicenter. Visitors with a ticket to Capture The Flag receive a bracelet that allows them entry into the campus’ Arena, a first for the public in Nemean Lion’s history. A magical portal created just for today grants them transportation from the Demicenter to the Arena, as NL takes its precautions and doesn’t allow a chance for them to snoop around other restricted parts of the campus. The bracelets they wear give them access to only the Arena, which shouldn’t be a problem, because who would want to be anywhere else during the main event?

Fit like one of the world’s best arenas, the stands allow for an audience of about 20,000, and today’s event is sold out. The center field is slightly larger than usual, however, and for now sits as flat, grassy turf. There’s a steady roar of the thousands of fans in the Arena, which include most of the demigods and their families in front row seats, here to cheer on their members. NL Administration, including manager and CEO, sit in box seats to watch over the members in their care and make sure this goes well. And just like advertised, the event is televised, and a magically experienced crew are all set up around the Arena, streaming live to millions of devices around the world.

Music and fanfare begins to sound throughout the Arena as the two teams enter the field, led by the two team captains. Falling in line behind captain Theo Choi of Team A are Juniper Johnson, Drew Suh, July Chin, Grace Marshall, Viola Lovera, Ezra Stokes, Narumi Kato, Jesse Garcia, Vera Marshall, James Koo, Minjeong Park, Regan Morgan, Alessio Castellani, Charla Lee, and Axel Green. On the other side stands Team B, comprised of Nick Spencer, Safiye Bennet, Cyrus Tan, Simon Hong, Mira Funetes, Prim Tran, Mayumi Ishida, Stormie Burbank, Tristan Day, Gigi Gautier, Carly Serrano, Pandora Liu, Ace Aguilar, Holly Sharp, and Kennedy Xun all captained by Cynthia Byun.

Once both teams stand ready on either side, Marina gives a cue, and a low rumble echoes throughout the venue. The turf begins to morph before everyone’s eyes, transforming the flat field into a forest landscape, the work of their own extremely skilled manager who’s power most people don’t see too often. Hills and trees begin to cover the distance between the two teams, until neither can see their opponents, a vast forest landscape shrouding each other from view. Clad in armor, donning their weapons, and with abilities at the ready, it’s almost time to begin.

Floating above the open roof of the Arena are honorary white marble thrones gilded in gold. Twelve, to be exact, though they sit empty as they always have on days of events like these, only ever a show of courtesy, a sign of respect to the gods that watch over them. Or, at least, that’s how it’s always been in the past.

An almost imperceptible hum begins to stir in the air, raising the hair of everyone’s arms, and somehow commanding a hush across the stadium. Marina Ren and Daphne Saengmai share a surprised but knowing glance just as light begins to shine bright from the skies. In a golden haze, ethereal figures begin to materialize in the noble thrones above the Arena, though not every seat becomes occupied, as everyone below counts six otherworldly figures. Their faces are somehow shrouded by both shadow and light, features undetectable, and to the mortals they have no idea who is who, only that for almost all of them, they’re in the presence of gods for the very first time. The demigods, however, know the order of those thrones by heart, and know which gods now watch above them.

Demeter. Ares. Apollo. Artemis. Aphrodite. Hermes.

Marina smiles once up at them, takes a steadying breath, then brings her attention back down to the field. She gives the signal, a horn blows, and the game begins.

Team A sprints into action, sending its slew of offensive players into the forest. Theo Choi leads them, weapon in hand, running through the forest to act as the first barrier of defense, and as soon as she finds members from the other team, her sword clashes with Mayumi Ishida, who leads offense as well for Team B.

The Team A captain is flanked by July Chin and Jesse Garcia, who though not heroes, hold their own against Mayumi and her own backup, Mira Funtes, who are unfortunately outnumbered. Besides, this first scrap is only the first defense.

The two huntresses of Team B, Gigi Gautier and Ace Aguilar use their tracking abilities and experience from training with the hunt to dart quickly and quietly through the forest, looking for the easiest pathway to Team A’s red flag for the rest of their teammates, then throw an arrow into the sky as signal. They have to be excellent, after all, their lady is watching.

Their teammates, Safiye Bennet and Stormie Burbank see the signal and begin heading towards the direction, escaping most of the scuffle in the middle of the Arena. Grace Marshall, propelled in higher view with her aerokinesis, catches it too and sends a signal to her own teammate. Ezra Stokes holds a piece of tech in his hands as he runs towards Grace’s signal, the device able to scan for heat signatures and when it picks up the daughter of Aphrodite and daughter of Dionysus heading toward what should be a clear path, they come head to head with him and Viola Lovera, ready for combat.

Thankfully, Simon Hong of Team B had also caught his team’s signal, and darts past them unseen, using his shadow travel for increments at a time. He gets to the clearing of Team A’s flag and then finally to the flagpole itself. He grabs the opponent’s bright red flag, about to step into his shadow travel to get it back to his side of the field, but before he can make it out, gets clothes-lined by Alessio Castellani and a broad-staff, who tries to wrench his team’s flag out from his grasp.

Though her teammate is down, Holly Sharp comes upon the scene and knows the objective is victory and grabs the red flag from Simon, and before anyone can stop her, begins to use her enhanced speed to get out of danger’s way and head back into her team’s direction.

In the middle of the forest, Team A’s Minjeong Park, Vera Marshall, and Regan Morgan are tucked behind tree trunks, peeking out to sling arrows across the way, aimed at the trunks hiding their opponents, Pandora Liu and Tristan Day, who fire arrows back just as quickly.

But when a well-hidden Axel Green conjures up some sunlight in Tristan’s face, the Team B archer misfires, hitting Holly in the thigh on her journey back, and everyone springs into action for the flag in her hand.

When the first member of Team A makes it to the clearing that holds Team B’s blue flag, James Koo finds it unguarded, and foolishly begins to reach for it. But a very quiet-footed and stealthy Carly Serrano pops up from seemingly nowhere and lulls him into a gentle sleep before he can do it. This strategy might’ve continued to work if Narumi Kato hadn’t been expertly observing from the treeline, and dashes in next, knocking Carly to the ground with a well-timed shove before she can stop him from grabbing the blue flag.

However, Nick Spencer also springs from the treeline and races after him into the forest, attempting to protect his team’s flag. The two boys catch each other and parry blows and strikes, and just as Nick is about to take the upper hand, Drew Suh and Charla Lee of Team A help their teammate.

Noticing their teammate is in need, Kennedy Xun joins the fray and attempts to sword fight with the rest of them, but quickly ends up knocked harshly back by Charla, tripping on a tree root and spraining their ankle in the process, down for the count. Nick stops to help his friend, but not before focusing hard on Drew who now has the flag and mind controlling him into dropping it. It works, though thanks to his limits, it also sends him down.

Prim Tran of Team B leaps into view, running towards her team’s blue flag to try to save it, and that’s precisely when Team A’s Juniper Johnson descends like a bat out of hell. Donned in black streaks of war-paint on her cheeks that absolutely no one asked her to wear, she charges terrifyingly towards the blue flag, butting Prim with her shield to block her, and snatches it up, running back in the direction of her team’s field.

She’s a mighty opponent, ditching the shield and brandishing her combat knives like a demon, she makes it past Cyrus Tan who attempts to block her with a wave of water from the small stream she leaps over.

She makes it past the middle of the field where the largest cluster of demigods still fight over the red flag, zipping past, only a passing thought to those in the brawl who don’t notice the royal blue cloth in her clutch.

When she finally hits the clearing, finding almost no one there, she’s nearly victorious. Until, previously hidden in shadow, emerges Cynthia Byun, longsword in hand. Team B’s captain, having been lurking with her umbrakinesis, uses this one last opportunity to keep Team A from winning. Though her opponent is a graduated hero, and this captain is only in training, they exchange blows almost well-matched. Cyntha’s longsword clangs time and time again with Juniper’s combat knives, managing to disarm one of them and slash an clean streak against the daughter of Hecate’s upper arm.

Expending one last feat of strength, Juniper uses some magic to cast up an illusion of shadow, as if she might have duplicated Cynthia’s own power, and it confuses her opponent and shields herself just enough to buy the one second she needs to fake in one direction and the lunge toward the golden flagpole. Cynthia, only allowing herself that one brief moment of doubt, dashes forward with her longsword in the direction she knows Juniper would have chosen, feeling her blade connect on the downstroke with the flesh of Juniper’s leg. But it’s just too far and just too late. Juniper has secured the other team’s blue flag onto the golden pole.

A triumphant horn sounds, and the speakers blare.

“Game! Team A has won this match of Capture The Flag!”

The crowd erupts into roaring cheers, Team A celebrates as Team B accepts the loss, the foliage and terrain of the landscape morphs back into a grassy field as the speakers continue to announce the victory.

Healers begin to jog onto the field, tending to the wounds and injuries of all the players, and Marina has already made her way down, beginning to congratulate and shake the hands of the victors, and thank the defeated team for a job well done.

The cameras pick up the crowd happily cheering in support, the pridefully exhausted faces of all the team members, and Marina’s smiling face thanking everyone for coming out tonight as music continues to sound and confetti falls all around the glamorous Arena. The view of the lens pans up to try to catch a glimpse of the gods above, but apart from a lingering light they leave behind, they’re already gone.

Thoughts on Jamie Johnson 5x10

Today on Jamie Johnson, Mike and Karen help Zoe and Kat start an impromptu girls’ team, Eric’s jealousy over Freddie/Aisha continues, Alba and Ruby continue to feel insecure, Dillon’s ain’t shit dad goes down to a 9 on a scale of 1 to Liam, and Boggy literally becomes a prison bitch. Also, Jack is here! What a weird episode of this television show.

I don’t even know where to begin with this. Let’s start with Zoe. This week seemingly concludes the internal arc that Zoe’s been on since we’ve met her, that of course being “I can’t stand any girl even remotely as talented as me.” It’s a necessary character development, as she’s literally trying to be put on a team with a whole lot more talented girls. Can you imagine the Zoe of 2 seasons ago trying to work with a whole team of Jack’s? She’d spontaneously combust.

Kat wisely deduces that Zoe is the suh-nake who definitely stole her pendant. She is gracious enough to forgive her, and also naive enough to immediately want to continue being friends with Zoe. Maybe it’s just me, but I definitely wouldn’t come around on Zoe so quick. 

Kat in general has kind of frustrated me. She’s only here for Zoe’s character development, and every scene of her’s up to this point has been “I lost my pendant, I can’t do anything.” Lather, rinse, repeat. She literally almost lost her pendant again, not even 20 minutes after finding it. Girl, please put your heirloom away. Hopefully, now that Kat has the pendant and is moving on up we can get some frankly better content.

Jack is here, and Zoe kind of half apologizes to her; the list of which she should be apologizing for would take up too much screentime. Jack is also just here to resolve Zoe’s arc. She doesn’t even pop in to check up on Jamie or that other one. And then presumably, she’s gone for this season???

Dillon’s Dad visits to apologize, and you have to wonder: If Dillon’s football career was all but over, what would his Dad think of him then? A season ago, I thought that Dillon was gonna bow out of football once he was done with Phoenix to do whatever he wanted to do, but his sexuality and football career are linked, so we don’t really get a clear answer to that question.

But Alba’s parents think Dillon should give him a chance, and so that he will do. One person who theoretically would be critical to these developments would be Dillon’s mother, but she’s forever MIA. I think for such an important storyline, the mother should have some facetime. But she comes off as passive even though I think the show depicts her as the “good cop”. 

Excuse me while I bang my head a little more over this 8th grader drama. You wanna know what, I think Eric is the most misunderstood character on the show. He was inexplicably exiled from his friend group [again] over the Liam drama, found solace in Aisha, and now Aisha is over here fraternizing [with the enemy]. 

Eric’s alone. That is his character. His brother died, his mom left him, his dad is emotionally unavailable, Liam antagonizes him, Alba dismisses him, Freddie just kind of stands there while all of that is going on. The only character who even tried to come close to understanding him is Molly. Their dynamic was one of the best parts of last season.

So of course, if he sees Aisha hanging out with Freddie, then he’s alone again. Because next time Alba waves her hand and says “You can’t sit with us!” now “us” includes Aisha. Tragic.

Of course on the flip side, Aisha does not belong to Eric and is free to do whatever she wants to do. And it’s not like she dislikes the guy. But I get it, Eric. I get it. And boy oh boy do I hate love triangles. We’re dangerously approaching full blown Little Fires Everywhere. A mess.

Two things on Alba/Ruby: thank God that the show remembered that Ruby is a keeper, and man was that adoption scene so beautiful. Their whole family is goals.

When I initially said #JusticeForBoggy, I had no idea that the show was actually gonna go there this season. I just pointed out what had been my observation for seasons: the characters on this show treat that guy like shit. He just gives and gives and gives, and when he’s done people want him to give some more. Thank GOD that we are finally talking about this. THERE WILL BE A DAY when he finally gets his justice. Maybe next week. Definitely before the end of the season. 

So after last week’s relative dud, Jamie Johnson once again proves it’s at its best when we’re not talking about Jamie Johnson. Let’s see what next week brings.

BTW, Freddie’s commentary at the match was the funniest content from this show in a while. Especially the lampshading of Mike’s yelling.
