'Peasants underwent the same political evolution as the soldiers and workers: at first watchful cooperation with the Provisional Government, then growing disillusion followed by the assumption of direct power over their own lives. ... This time the peasant tide was swelled by soldier deserters beginning to return from the front in large numbers, armed and ready to fight if their should be any resistance. But it was not only soldiers. All households were involved: joint responsibility ruled, as always. Typically, peasants would assemble with their carts and improvised weapons on the village square, then move off toward the manor. The squire was forced to sign a document transferring the property of the estate to the village assembly. Then the peasants would load what they could carry onto their carts and lead away the cattle, leaving behind a subsistence allowance for the landowner and his family. ... After the expropriations, village assemblies redistributed the land as far as possible equitably, either "by eaters" (according to the number of mouths a household had to feed) or "by labor" (according to the number of working hands available in it). "Stolypin peasants" and even former landlords were drawn into the process: each was allowed his norm and no more. Everyone had the right to subsistence. In crisis the old peasant values reasserted themselves.'

There’s a safety deposit box at the bank with both of their important docs (cough, Eddie’s will, cough).

Rus Socialism

You know it’s fucking wild that one of the most followed small malamute sled teams on social media was asking if she should give her 6 month old puppy back to the breeder because of the severity of bilateral elbow displaysia like 54 days ago after getting said puppy for mushing from a breeder that does not health test and now she’s running that puppy in harness only a few months post surgery at an age most mushers would just barely be putting malamutes in harness for the first time (most mushers would be putting a young puppy under maturity in a team so that adults can take the brunt of the weight mind you) and that puppy is in fucking wheel (dogs in wheel take the heaviest load out of all dogs in harness and the most strain on the body). People advised her that running in harness might be harmful for this dog’s joints, advised her to think long and hard about this dog’s quality of life and this dog is already in harness under a year old. Normally I would have no problems with a dog being put in harness in a team of adults at this age but it is wildly different to do this with a dog that had surgery for her deteriorating joints only a few MONTHS ago. A dog who is not done growing. The straight irresponsibility of this and the visibility of this is so gross to me.

sowing: I learned how to use a handspindle with a distaff recently (like you see in historical pictures) and it's SO easy, it's literally so easy, I never really got the hang of hand spindles before but this is so easy, the yarn almost spins itself, I could go through this entire 200g braid in 3 days, I could spin enough to make a whole garment!! Bow before me! I am the king and queen of fibre crafting!!!!
