Oh wow this one is a great question, now I’m an old soul who has seen a lot of classic anime in the '90s, so this one is gonna need some good unpacking, coming into anime of the 2000s. yes fully aware we didn't get the same stories from the manga to the anime so here's my 4 series, I wont say these would be in the toxic category however maybe wrong.

Anime I liked & watched but the ending was meh Soul eater, & Deadman wonderland

It was a good watch, it was one of those shows that had a great action-driven pace, with a great female main, alongside a strong cast of colorful characters, however, there were some moments in which it relied too much on fanservice. I don't get the hype of this one, why it really felt its the best thing ever however it still has a fanbase also, (which normalized in anime since going mainstream) Even not even fleshing out the supporting characters, there were times I felt the plot and writing of each character got over shun by the pacing of the show & action Yknow being killing offe such cha era cuter one by one.

Now this was a college watch at an anime club, I didn't really like this show cause it was kinda had so many elements, mashed into together,(Scifi & Harem tropes to an extent, not done right to the point of making Yuno a poster child of bad habits, I see Fans even ones defending or cosplaying yuno with a lewd personality justifying her actions in the show (which is understandable she was Abused, from my memory serves) Heck EVEN JOSH GRELE VOICE OF THE MAIN MALE said he didn't like it, And I Agree however I do congratulate the voice acting along akame ga kil, but come on the show was complete mind Fuck cause it left me in a doozy.

DeadMan Wonderland,

Very great underrated show created by the same person who did Eureka seven (also a great romantic mecha show I need to finish anime-wise) This had a captivating bloody good tie with your into action horror if its not to gorey, in today's mainstream titles. however the manga takes it to a ten while the anime didn't, (cause we had a gay badass transwoman fight alongside the main cast never shown in the anime, who had a great written background alongside others.) yes I felt the show got a bad end of the stick cause it had so much going for it, in the manga, now being Cut down to 25-30 episodes, with potential remake but the ending was a major cliffhanger. I don't see a issue or toxic writing in this one since it obscrued.

Soul Eater

Who could forget an after-school classic in my case, Its a Great series, this was one I watched, after homework alongside (Hell girl, Peach Girl & Aquarion)

I enjoyed the Anime to a high. I need a rewatch of soul eater, i did felt with time and writing progress they had the power to mash everything from the manga to the anime, understanding it takes a lot of work to draw, and pace a story like this anime with so much going for it, The voice acting served ( With Miss Cunty Medusa & Arcane Shouldve gotten more limelight to be more epic from the manga to the anime, Medusa Gave off Cyber Trakneena from Power Rangers)

AND LORD WHO CAN FORGET THE THEMES, yeah felt the show could've gone deeper or enlightened fans on the many ways the show coulda have been better but never experienced any toxicity from these Four, (glad we got Fire Force Though)

But yes felt the ending was a good one but I really wish certain characters even MAKA HAD the black BLOOD GOWN TO FINISH OFF ASHRA THOUGH.

Fashion is sort of a hobby of mine, but I've never really discussed it on here...ever, but I've always wanted to share the knowledge that has taken me years of transition to acquire.

It was really difficult for me to find trans masc clothing tips that were actually helpful for me, so It's been a lot of trial and error, so here are a few things that I have learned that has really changed the game when it comes to overcoming dysphoria.

The most important thing was finding a style I resonated with. I fall on the alt spectrum, obviously what type is going to change depending on what fictional character my brain has latched onto at any given moment, but the alt part always stays consistent, so I need clothes in shades of black.

The second thing that was really helpful, was figuring out that I tend to like a balance in my clothes. If something is baggy another thing has to be tight, if something is long, another thing has to be short (ex: long coat (long), high waisted pants with a tucked in shirt (short).) It neutralizes the outfit in a way that makes me feel comfortable no matter what direction my gender decides to swing throughout the day.

The third really helpful thing for me was learning how to dress masculinely for my body type. Most videos are really unhelpful because the ones for cis men don't talk about people with my body type, and the ones for trans men are focused on hiding parts of my body. Here are the really helpful things I learned for MY body type:

For context for anyone with a similar body build: I am a short (under 5'5") pear shape. I have larger thighs and hips compared to my shoulders and chest, and I have a pretty accentuated waist. I have had top surgery so that is no longer an insecurity for me. I am also considered petite by normal human standards, while also being considered overweight by misogynists. My torso and my legs are about equal lengths too, think Josh Brolin's proportions in deadpool 2.

For my shorter body type, wearing monochrome outfits with high waisted pants, but with minimal distraction around the waist line (no distracting belts) is helpful to give the appearance of looking taller without accentuating where the waist is.

again, monochromatic outfits are helpful to create a straighter line to avoid waist and hip accentuation. Wearing a different color of pants and shirt create a line at the waist where the pants meet the shirt, which cuts your body in half making you look shorter, and drawing attention to that area.

High waisted pants are helpful to make your legs look longer, and therefore, taller.

Men's pants rarely work on my body type, and the ones that do, often don't fit right. Joggers and baggy style tend to be okay, but there is often the problem of them being too long which messes with the look. This is okay with baggy pants, because I can roll the cuffs up (but then this makes me look shorter) or I can roll the cuffs up around a scrunchie, which creates a jogger look.

Don't worry about the label of men's or women's pants, just look for them meeting the specific criteria you want regarding length, style, and fit.

Assume that any pant will be tighter at the hips and thighs and looser at the rest of the body, so go for pants that have lots of extra room in the thighs and taper dramatically (the taper is important to create a straight look OR a jogger look, it all depends on the amount of taper, but a taper will be needed to not look bootcut, because straight leg will look bootcut). This one may seem obvious, but I guarantee you, to some young trans masc, this is not obvious yet. Maybe this will save them money.

I find that the best pant styles (this is what you type into a search engine to get pants that will work better) are cargo pants, baggy pants, joggers, and harem pants. You can find many different styles of pants with these keywords. I suggest baggy if looking for a professional trouser or slack to tuck a shirt into.

And again, always buy high waisted, even if you decide not to wear it high waisted, it ensures larger room in the crotch, cause if there's anything we don't want to do, it's drawing attention to the fact that we don't have a penis, or that we are wearing a packer.

button ups are the bane of my existence. It is often encouraged for people to buy button ups to hide top surgery, but I have found that the fit of button ups can either be the best thing in the world or the worst. Purchase at your own risk.

Boots! Boots are so important. I find that 8" boots (the length of boot, not the thickness of the sole. I am not talking about platform boots) masculinize my pants the most. Maybe it's cause I have really small feet and ankles, but when I try to wear sneakers, it rarely fits with my aesthetic and my pants look weird.

Accessories are really important. It may be considered more femme, but it's what pulls the alt look altogether.

Also balance. When going with a loose pair of pants, doing a form fitting shirt helps to keep you from getting drowned out by the clothes, and therefore accentuating your (lack of) height. When wearing a pair of skinnier pants (because there are SOME tighter pants that can work with our bodies if you find a very special pair) go with a longer, looser shirt that covers the crotch and butt, kinda like an NF look, it turns the dysphoria of showing more leg, into euphoria about having legs that aren't drowning in fabric at all times.

I'm gonna hook you up because I've gotten my fair share of pants from them and my posts rarely get much engagement at all, so I'm not worried about them selling out. if you're wanting a tighter pant, check out MOKEWEN. They are unfortunately exclusively on amazon, and their stuff is fast fashion, so you have to be really careful about which item you're buying. Be scrupulous about the texture of fabric in the pictures to make sure you're getting something you will like. But their pants hold up fairly well, and when you're desperate for affirming pants, it's worth getting a pair or two. They are in Asian sizing too, so they are shorter and smaller than US sizing. Seriously, read everything before buying, the comments, the descriptions, and look at those pictures CLOSELY.

When getting shirts, make sure the fabric is thicker. Even after top surgery, softer fabrics will cling to your curves in the most unflattering way. A thicker fabric will create distance from your waist, creating a straighter line.

Finally, I cannot stress enough how important a crew neckline is! Mock necks are great for the ENBY looks, but for a mask top, crew neck is the best! Make sure the neckline falls right at the base of your neck, not much lower than that, otherwise the shirt will hang weirdly and look more femme.

Anyway TLDR:

-For short, pear shaped bodies

-Monochromatic outfits to enhance height and reduce curves

-High waisted pants to enhance height and reduce curves (waist should fall right BELOW belly button, not at the smallest part of your waist. waistlines are different for men's and women's pants)

-Crew neck

-Thicker fabric shirts (no matter how comfy the soft T's are. Seriously, do you want clingy fabric showing off every curve?)

-Boots!

-Balance. Tight pants+ loose, long shirt. Loose pants+ tight, tucked shirt.

-Accessories! (except going overboard with the belt unless you want to accentuate your hips and waist)

-Good keywords for pant types: baggy, jogger, harem, cargo

This is entirely based on me, my preferences, and my style. The advice is not universal, it is just stuff I wish I had learned sooner for myself. If it is helpful to you, yay! If not, that sucks man, hope you find something that is helpful for you.

Please pick and choose whatever resonates with you, because your style is your style and you shouldn't hold yourself to someone else's guidelines that aren't even rules.

Sixth book read in 2025

This one I have to blame (sadly) on @yszarin who put the book on my radar. I picked it up to read because I thought some nice murder mystery with a queer relationship would be a good palette cleanser between the other books on my list. Ho boy do I have opinions now.

Murder takes the High Road by Josh Lanyon

The book is about Carter who joins a murder mystery tour of his favourite author, who several decades ago murdered her then boyfriend for unknown reasons. His ex-boyfriend and new boyfriend are also there and Carter meets a mysterious addition to the tour - John. Supposedly murder happens eventually, presumably.

So uh for the good things about this book: I did enjoy the writing style itself and might eventually check out another book from the author to see if it works better with a different plot. The main characters voice was distinctive and fun to read. The first quarter of the book was a fun to read, too.

And now for a selection of things that I would like to rant about in a non-positive way, put under a spoiler cut, including some mild nsfw:

The pacing, just everything about the pacing.

The first murder actual murder happens 80% into the book, it's all resolved by 93% into the book and the reveal of who the murderer was and what their reasons were, were uncovered in about 2 pages. Like if you call a book murder takes the high road I'd expect some murder to happen and maybe a mystery around it. But no. None murder with left beef for that book on my part.

I called three of the "plot twists" about not even half way into the book. And I love figuring out stuff before the reveal, but these reveals were just so fucking stupid. And then for the last plot twist of why the only murder that happened was committed I couldn't have called anything because in the entirety of the book there wasn't a single foreshadowing or hint or reference to point to it. I did call the murderer though (or well ballpark).

The romance itself was so rushed. They meet, Carter is slightly sus of John for like half a second, they don't interact much the first couple days, but within two nights or so they fuck. Carter completely trusts John for no apparent reason even when John acts shady. John has trustworthy eyes or whatever. Within 4 days they are ready to say I love you and plan the rest of their lives together. IDK man, I read Harlequin books with more believable romances.

Every gay guy, of which there where 4 in addition to our main character - on the tour we are told several times is mostly aimed at elderly ladies who love the murder mystery author - was into Carter (except for ex' new bf). Which would be fine and fun if the author did anything with that. Like if you have 3 guys having the hots for the main character that feels like it should do something, but it just didn't, at all. Not plot wise, not emotionally, not tension wise. Let everyone be into Carter, he's cute, but if you're writing a harem anime at least make it slightly interesting!

We get told multiple times that Carter loves trying new things, went to several classes for unrelated things (dancing, iirc martial arts, pottery or something, I forgot). Does any of that play into how he figures out who the murderer is? No. But see he is a librarian so his super power is reading books. And then he reads three books in a night and knows who did the thing. Not that it matters, he doesn't get to tell anyone and the police figure it out off page instantly as well.

The sex scenes....like I've read worse but you lose me at "His cock thrust up like a friendly animal looking for a caress."

I already nearly forgot the love interest name as well as almost every other character in this book. There were maybe two characters that were interesting aside from Carter and that stood out but otherwise everyone blended into each other.

There were other stuff, but my fucking god, my main gripe is still the absolute lack of murder and absolutely unsatisfactory resolution. She could just have left out the murder entirely, renamed the book, it might have made a somewhat cute romance with a little bit of mystery for fluff. There was potential there, but fuck me, was it squandered on nonsense.

So yeah the writing style itself was fine which was the only thing that got me through the book, but everything else was just yeah no thanks but no thanks.

Con il nuovo megapost vi porto tanti nuovi video, locandine e anche qualche data. Spoiler: l'anime di Shy è programmato per quest'anno!

Fra scosse di terremoto che mi hanno fatto perdere anni di vita e altre questioni sempre non propriamente piacevoli, che non vi sto ad elencare, vi dirò la verità, me la sono presa con più calma del solito nel raggruppare le novità di questo fine settimana.

L'ANIME RECAP era già pronto nel tardo pomeriggio, ma non avevo neanche l'ombra di un'idea di che immagine usare in apertura! Esatto, sono messo così male. 😅

Non c'è tanta roba di cui parlare a differenza dell'ultima volta, ma qualche highlight non manca, tipo il nuovo trailer del live action de I Cavalieri dello Zodiaco (che vi ho messo prontamente in pole position u_u), l'arrivo dell'anime di Shy nell'arco di quest'anno e il primo promo di Reign of the Seven Spellblades, di cui non si sapeva nulla da un bel po'.
