Isnfjdjdjdjdjsnndad like all the kids are weird in their own way but Kid Four is weird in his own special way. Just a strange little dude that each of the other kids would fight to the death for if anyone even thought of being mean to him.

When asked what they want to be/who they want to be like when they get older there is of course a lot of “Cloud! Tifa! Barret!” With even a few odder ones like Tseng and Reno thrown in, but Kid Four doesn’t even hesitate before he answers

“Cait Sith.”

They all blink. Denzel slowly asks “You mean like Reeve?”

Kid Four shakes his head. “I want to ride a giant Moogle and tell fortunes for a living.”

Cloud doesn’t even blink at that only ruffling the kid’s hair and telling him he can see if Reeve has the time to make one of the Moogles big enough to carry the kids around. (And honestly he’s relieved. He loves his friends, loves the kids, but he wants at least one of them to want a different life. To not want to be a fighter. To have the peace and opportunities available that they can be so unapologetically them without fear of what will happen to the rest of the world or if they will have the money to support themselves being a fortune teller. They will. He will make sure they will.)

ponyboy definitely sneaks into darry’s room when he has nightmares, especially post book because the nightmares slowly dissolve from his parents dying to darry and soda dying and during those nightmares pony just really needs darry, so he’ll sneak into darry’s room and gently tug the pillow out of darry’s arms (darry’s a sleep cuddler argue with the wall) and pony will just nestle his way into darry’s arms and wraps himself around darry and just presses his head against his chest and falls asleep to darry’s heartbeat and other internal sounds because he needs to know his big brother is alive and okay

(bonus but darry always wakes up every time when pony does this but he never says anything, half for pony’s dignity and half because he’s so sleepy he doesn’t even register it-but some nights it’s real rough and pony starts panicking and he just sits up like “woah woah woah there, ponybaby-what’s wrong? you gotta talk to me, kiddo, i’m here…” and he NEVER gets mad at pony. ever. no matter how little sleep he gets. especially post book)

how much time do you have? and how much do you want to read? bc i deeply hate everything about totk (for many many reasons that cant just be dismissed as just 'not my taste' or similar, i dont hate many things, very few in fact, but this game deeply and personally hurt me and my passion- it essentially killed my hyperfixation in zelda)-

what i like would be much shorter; i like the sound the parasail makes when you use it in the rain, most music, you can have more horses, the underground is .. a neat idea (but badly executed), you can FINALLY touch the dragons (and in exchange they ruined them for me ...) and uhm ... master koga is there :3

(graphics and style is basically botws so that doesnt count though i still love that and .. the designs... mostly)

the short version; the writing sucks, the gameplay sucks, except for koga theres no character that is well written or enjoyable to me, the world design sucks, theres no connective tissue between botw (which isnt flawless by any means but i love it ..... or used to love it ..) and totk beyond it being called a sequel, pretty much every single one of botws flaws was doubled down on and i cannot believe how few people actually seem to realize this?? if you cared about anything botw and like thinking about things totk will stomp you with its hefty price tag bc it makes it clear it does not care and you are stupid for caring about anything, you should stop thinking and jsut take whatever they say no matter how little sense anything makes, every even mildly interesting idea is either never followed up on/expanded or is even actively contradicted in itself (which is soemthign this game is excellent at, constantly contradicting itself in every aspect but like .. like its unaware of it) it tries to do everything and thus commits to nothing, tries to please everyone and thus comes out saying nothing and meaning nothing and doing nothing, it loooooves to copy botw but gives it a different paintjob and makes it worse but presents it as better instead of actually adressing the issues botw had, ganondorf .... oh my dear ganondorf, you deserve to be in a better game *sniffs*, i have never before felt like im being made fun of by the game im playing, but now i have-

(SPOILER WARNING to people who haven't read your story) I SWEAR to GOD!!!! This is borderline anon-hate with my current state of mind after finishing The Raven and The Snake over this weekend. I finished it in two days. I'm a mess. I've even started making a playlist because I feel like I can't properly enter reality again. I'm supposed to be writing my bachelors thesis right now,,,, what have you done to me!!!!

I loved it so so so much, and I am very mad I cannot have a collectors edition hardback version of it on my shelf. There are many many moments that keep replaying in my head, and scenes that I saw so vividly when reading through it. The first imperio moment and Sebs shadow and imperio-green eyes as Clora was held captive, and the entire scene in the repository and how I was physically shaking as I slowly realised that Seb had made a fucking horcrux, and when it was CONFIRMED the GASP i GUSPED. It was so perfect, and so very Sebastian; because OF COURSE he made a horcrux (lowkey hot, sue me).

And the scene where Clive realised Seb straight up just died for his daughter without knowing he would be back, oh my dear lord.

And the idea of Seb being seen as a 'Ruffian' and that little mamas boi bitch of a Henry thinking his hand-me-down-riches, muggle ass would be preferable to a powerful wizard. I secretly wished they didn't have to keep magic a secret so Henry could have known just how inferior he was. AND SEB APPARATING SO FAR UMPH the skilllll.

I could go on and on and on, and maybe I will some other time in your inbox when I have another mental breakdown.

And now I'm also almost done with the small sequel. Just taking a break to bombard you with this unhinged message of mine. And how you draw Sebastian is so fucking good. It's actually what got me reading in the first place. I see your version as being in a completely separate universe from the game, cause the way you draw him just has that something, and it's not the same anywhere else. It certainly doesn't help my obsession that my own boyfriend has the same features and colour palette as him, now I think I might even use your art as inspo for next time we need wardrobe additions.

Many have such little comprehension and empathy for what it was to be a refugee from a communist dictatorship in the kind of 30’s-90’s period in the U.S. and Western Europe. (They also have such little comprehension and empathy for what it was to be a refugee from a right wing capitalist us-backed dictatorship as well, but in some specials and other ways.)

like. These were people who were often working between multiple extremely dysfunctional, systematically unfair immigration regimes. The U.S. functionally shut immigration from everywhere but smallll portions of Western Europe and small groups of people from those areas at that in the 1920’s and things stayed, with fluctuations, roughly the same for decades - simple “economic migrants” from almost the entire world were simply banned. People had to come up with a political reason to flee, and it had to sound good to the authorities, especially when a lot of them were on the exact lists that U.S. immigration did not like - Southeast Asians, Muslims, Jews, central and Eastern Europeans, Latines. They often but not always had the exact professions and backgrounds that the U.S. did not like, especially in peak Cold War 50’s-70’s hysteria - intellectuals of all sorts, psychologists, professors, artists, scientists, researchers.

Or they were running from repercussions from political actions, which were often political actions the United States was not a particular fan of, such as attempts at independent trade unionization - because remember, you likely came from a country with (1) total trade union which was a government entity and the government was your employer, so there wasn’t a single way to raise a workers’ rights complaint - or attempts at non-aligned peace and demilitarization movements - because if you lived in Eastern Europe there was still a massive chance that your labour was going towards some kind of violence abroad - or towards academic intellectual freedom or just some way of tallying your figures to go hmmm something doesn’t add up here. all of these often ended up glossed as “bourgeois capitalism” where they were running from, but were considered kinda suspiciously red in the U.S. where they were trying to go. What do you do?

And then they got to the U.S., and due to the haphazard and brutal nature of U.S. immigration policy, they often came over as individuals and then were desperate to get the rest of their family over as well - keep in mind too that the exact regimes they were running from often punished the families of those who left or marked them as regime traitors who deserved punishment. So if you arrived in the US, not only were you on the ground begging for your own documentation or else keeping very very silent, you were also either desperately telling the authorities about the most dreadfullllll terribleeeee communist spectacle you were running from and how every day you prayed to mcdonalds and j edgar Hoover and our lord almighty Dwight d Eisenhower that you could bring your children to the cleansing light of capitalism.

like, we need to appreciate that there are appreciable ways in which U.S. border policy has hardened since the, say, 1950’s (although there has been an awful and cyclical policy of border based deportations), anti immigrant hysteria and mass deportation and closed borders have been a feature of U.S. policy since at least the 1920’s in a very systematic way, and these were the Bad Ones. People were playing with multiple very very unfair systems.

It’s in this context I see extremely …. Extreme stuff about members of various exile groups in the U.S. let’s be clear - many of the people above who I mentioned became very publicly conservative. I don’t believe anyone’s particular background justifies conservatism in any way, or that conservatism is understandable when anyone supports it. But I do think it’s underrated how, while very certain figureheads became conservative, an unbelievable number of the people who went through this system just went silent. They voted quietly and worked quietly and did not become loudly or physically involved with that which might deport them again, might make them become again arrested. And many others became conflicting bitter about the whole thing, and never did really wave the flag and cheer because this land of Golden Arches had so much of what they were running from, and they saw it in other people. In Jewish and/or Eastern European and in Asian exilic communities I grew up with and knew all those people. All of them.

it’s a strange place to be in, at this moment in history. On the one hand, the U.S. memory of anti-communism never really includes the people who ran and had to sit at the American visa office. On the other, I see obsessive hatred of a lot of these groups from the American and Western European lefts as the like, ultimate evil capitalists or some such, their exilic culture as the ultimate in evil capitalism, to an extent that far outstrips how they see local and more wasp or nationally-majority oriented areas that are more conservative leaning. And I don’t think they’ve maybe sat down to think about why that is. The U.S. wanted the end of the communist threat to their particular capitalist and political system. That doesn’t ever mean they wanted the people.
