So obviously I tried to join Kyri's ( @kyri45 ) coloring art contest. And then just as obviously I finished it late. I still submitted it, of course, but it was due at 9pm and I finished at ~1am sooo... yeah

But I am still quite proud of my finished result; can you tell that I worked really hard on this? Tumblr still eats the image quality for breakfast, unfortunately, but presumably you can see the vision.

Anyway this was a really interesting challenge and I totally want to color in the others for fun. I'm getting weirdly good at digital art? It's become a lot more natural to me recently. Practice, I guess! Being good at it only makes me want to do it more so I imagine that will keep happening.

I'm also thinking of printing out the plain linearts for traditional coloring. For fun! I have many art supplies that would be fun to try out with this! Side note I should totally start making my own coloring pages by saving the plain lineart separately. That would be really cool, I would love that.

Actually what if I made a whole coloring book? So long as I signed each piece that would probably be fine to share! And my sister could use them with the kids at school who apparently really like my art? For serious, one afternoon I was helping out with them and drawing and a kid demanded that I let them color it in and I was like "hold up, I would also like to color my art so how about I scan the finished lineart and bring printed versions tomorrow?" and the delayed gratification may have ruined it for them unfortunately but the next day was still fun and I'm glad we did it. So if I just had coloring pages prepped and ready to share that would be extremely convenient. Would also be very fun to make. Maybe I could make some radial mandala things while I was at it. Hmmm. An interesting concept.

So i been slowly watching some Sonic X with me bro and I have some hcs—

1. Sonic seems to love the Chao + classic Sonic low-key mute + Chao don't really speak with words = Sonic grew up around/was raised by Chao

2. Sonic can't stand being trapped indoors without a clear escape route and is just fine sleeping under the stars or in a cave or up in a tree, but Tails needs a home so maybe Sonic and the Chao build a house for him to stay in. Sonic rarely stays in it himself but he does stay to take care of him for the first few years (Tails does not really remember most of this.)

3. Sonic learns to talk solely so he can talk to Tails

4. Once Tails is old enough (i.e can reach the counter and make himself food,) Sonic mostly leaves him to his own devices and goes back to his adventuring with the wind. The older Tails gets the more often Sonic dissappears randomly but he always comes back to check on his lil bro and likes to nap in the hammock Tails made him

Anyway point is I'm a big fan of Sonic's characterization in Sonic X and I'm barely three eps in this is exactly what I wanted from a Sonic show 10/10

alright free story idea that I personally find really funny.

Derek 'Chronic English Major' Hale having a secret love of period drama romance novels or some shit, and one day picks up a new and popular series where the story is essentially 'Pride and Prejudice but oops all werewolves'. He gets real invested and is really impressed by both the incredibly well researched historical accuracy, AS WELL as the ACCURATELY portrayed werewolf lore/representation.

I also like to imagine Derek and Lydia bond over their shared interest of books/films because 1. it's funny and 2. they're honestly both so dramatic and extra that after all the shit they and their friends went through, Derek and Lyds deserve to be buds. Anyway, said book series comes up in conversation, and Derek says he just started it and it's really good. Lydia inexplicitly starts cackling, but doesn't elaborate, just making vague comments almost like an inside joke.

Derek finishes the book series, and starts to put the pieces together. Some parts of these books seem almost... too familiar. But who would be the type of person to have encyclopedic knowledge on hyper specific parts of history, a flair for dramatics, AND a vast amount of experience with not only the supernatural, but especially werewolves?

...Yeah turns out Derek Hale's favourite book series was written by Stiles using a pen name, and no he does not want to talk about it.

Anyways, Heavenly Tyrant is an amazing book, highly reccomend!!!

I know I keep saying it and other people keep saying it but what’s so unbelievably frustrating is that MENA people, Palestinians, Iraqis, Persians, Muslims, Arabs… are just people. Like they’re literally just people. They drink, they party, they have sex, they like the same fandoms as you, they can be gay, they can be trans, they can have all the same existential fears, the same mental illnesses, the same infinitely nuanced and complex opinions and frustrations about topics like religion, morality, politics. They’re doctors, lawyers, teachers, actors, scientists, musicians, artists. And because people can’t process this, MENA people are left having to fucking spell out their humanity to people who consider themselves otherwise bleeding heart liberals. It’s insanity.

One of the best indicators of the lack of knowledge people have of Arab people to me is the existence of arak. It’s the Middle Eastern liquor. It’s produced across the region. It’s considered the national drink of Lebanon. Production of arak in Palestine is internationally recognized and has won awards. This seems like a tiny thing, but it’s actually crazy how many westerners truly believe Arab people don’t drink, that they follow religious law with such strict adherence that their behavior is just unrecognizably foreign, and they live in some state of austere repression beyond which the average westerner could even imagine. They have no idea this even exists.

Shortly after the onslaught post-Oct 7 I remember following updates from a Palestinian girl on Twitter who, in between sharing fundraisers for herself and her family (who, thankfully, did manage to evacuate safely, although not without needing serious medical attention) and updates about the broader situation, logged online after a few weeks of silence to lament the fact that she had missed her favorite anime character’s birthday and was sad she hadn’t been able to celebrate it with her mutuals. Her friends drew pictures of him for her.

And like, I truly believe that people are deserving of life even when they are quite different from us. Nobody deserves to be murdered en masse by the imperialistic machine as a display of power, over land, over resources, etc. But people aren’t even able to NOT dehumanize MENA people and realize that they AREN’T that different!! You’ve been fed propaganda your entire life that has convinced you that MENA people are just so deeply foreign that you couldn’t possibly understand or relate to them. Steve Jobs is Syrian. Shakira is Lebanese. Rami Malek is Egyptian. Salma Hayek is Lebanese. DJ Khaled is Palestinian. Freddie Mercury was Persian.

I honestly think at this point it’s partly a coping mechanism—If many westerners were actually to conceptualize the literal millions of human beings, people just like them, their friends, their loved ones, their heroes, their family, as burning unrecognizable bodies left charred in their homes they would just fall apart. So the only option is to insist until you’re red in the face that they couldn’t possibly be the same as you.

i hate that "TMRA" is an insult used against transmascs, not only are you saying an oppressed group of people don't deserve to fight for their rights, but you are at the same time equating that oppressed group to a group of men who literally hate us and would assault us given the chance. are you aware of the statistics of violence against trans men & mascs? the rates of assault, rape, and suicide and how they are extremely high and extremely underreported? or do you not care because you think were gender traitors were men?
