A man doesn’t need to fly to the sun, he need only find a patch of clean earth, and crawl there, and let the sun shine on him.

Letter to Father -- Franz Kafka
Tumblr media
" I would have been happy to have you as a friend, as a boss, as an uncle, as a grandfather and even (with a little more hesitation) as a father-in-law. It's only as a father that you've been too strong for me. " " You are a good and tender man […], but not all children have the patience and courage to seek out the goodness until they find it. " " For me, you had that enigmatic aspect that all tyrants have, whose legitimacy is based on who they are, not what they think. " " Between the two of us there was no real fight; I was quickly liquidated; what was left was flight, spite, affliction, the inner battle. " " What I wrote was about you, I was only crying in it what I couldn't cry on your chest. " " What is innocence for you can be guilt for me, and conversely, what is inconsequential for you can be the lid of my coffin. "

One advantage of keeping a diary is that one becomes aware with reassuring clarity of the changes one is constantly subject to, which one also generally believes, suspects and concedes, but which one always unconsciously denies when it comes down to it. In the diary one finds evidence that one lived, looked around and wrote down observations even in conditions that seem unbearable today, that this right has moved as it does today, when we are wiser because of the possibility of an overview of the situation at that time , but that is why we have to acknowledge all the more the fearlessness of our striving at that time, which we still maintained in sheer ignorance.

amtgericht
auf dem großen platz verschwinden figuren
quadratische hoheit von stein und glas
hier treten nichtige menschen
in kontakt mit kräften jenseits des horizonts
gänge durchstechen die stille
eintausend türen, eintritt verwehrt
strenge lettern weisen labyrinthartigen weg
wartende gesichter huschen umher
ein mensch, sitzende maschine
in leerem raum von papier erdrückt
gibt mechanisch elektronische befehle
auf kleingedruckten sätzen balanciertes recht
das schloß lässt einen nicht los
ausgang versteckt in holzgetäfelter nische
rotes steingebäude, preußisches gefängnis
verschwindet im lärm der tristbunten straße

The Metamorphosis -- Franz Kafka
Tumblr media
"and isn't it a fact that by removing the furniture we're showing that we're giving up all hope of an improvement and are leaving him to his own resources without any consideration?" “Was he an animal that music so seized him?” "You must try to get rid of the idea that this is Gregor. The fact that we have believed for so long, that is truly our real misfortune. But how can it be Gregor? If it were Gregor, he would have long ago realized that a communal life among human beings is not possible with such an animal and would have gone away voluntarily." "I will not utter my brother's name in front of this monster, and thus I say only that we must try to get rid of it."

Geldim.
sen.
sen, dersin.
senin yüzünden Tolstoy okuyorum
ve Almanca öğreniyorum
ama bunları söylemiyorum
ben söylemeden sen fark et
sen fark edince utanayım diye.
geldim, diyen ama
buluşalım diyemeyen
Kafkaest adam.
ben hala
bıraktığın yerde
beni terk ettiğin yerde.
