Part 7 of Yugi raising Jaden

Adventures in the afterlife.

“You have a son?” Atem’s question hung in the air.

Yugi smiled gently at his partner before nodding “ya I do.”

Atem had so many questions. How? He wasn’t gone long enough for Yugi to have a child, unless he truly lost track of time. Or had he missed something this big durning his time with Yugi! No, there was no way Yugi would have kept something like this from him. No, it had to have happened after he left. But if so who was the mother?

While Atem was spiraling Kaiba wasn’t doing much better. There was no way he missed something so huge. Téa wasn’t pregnant the last time he saw her. He couldn’t think of any other women who Yugi was close enough with to have a child. Who was it? Where had this child come from?

Yugi was unaware of just how badly the two men in front of him were spiraling. He could tell they were shocked but didn’t realize the extent of that shock. He was going to explain to them who Jaden was when he was interrupted.

“Son? I have a grandson?” Yugi turned to see who spoke and found himself looking at a tall, older man who he had never seen before. Mahad and Mana flanked the man, Mana giving his a happy wave.

“Father this child isn’t your grandson.” Atem finally found his wits enough to speak. Yugi realized that the man in front of him was Atem’s father, Aknamkanon.

“Of course he’s my grandson.” Aknamkanon insisted. “Ever since you returned to us, you’ve talked nonstop about Yugi and your friends. Considering how much you wanted a younger brother in life, I figured the gods blessed you with one as a host. You’ve even called this young man your brother before, so that makes him my son, and his child my grandson.” The older pharaoh explained his logic gesturing to Yugi whenever he spoke of him. He then pointed at Atem. “Don’t deny me the joy of grandchildren.”

Yugi’s cheeks warmed with embarrassment but he smiled all the same. It was nice to know Atem had told his family and friends all about their adventures. “Would you like to see pictures of him?” He asked pulling out his phone.

Atem’s attentions snapped back to his partner immediately. “Nothing would make me happier.” That wasn’t true, he would be happier if he could meet the child and be a part of his life. But as it stood now, he would not get the opportunity to met Yugi’s child until the boy passed away, something he hope would take a very long time. This might be his only opportunity to learn about this boy.

Yugi smiled as he pulled up the first picture on his phone. He could see Kaiba coming over to look over his shoulder at the picture, while Aknamkanon, Mana, and Mahad push closer to Atem waiting for Yugi to flip the phone around.

He found the first picture he wanted to show. It was a picture he took on the day he brought Jaden home. He was held in Grandpa Solomon’s arms and the two were smiling brightly at the camera. Jaden’s new Hero cards proudly displayed in his hand.

Kaiba looked over Yugi’s shoulder and froze. He had expected to see a baby, but instead the boy looked to be around four. How could this be Yugi’s son? Unless….

Kaiba snatched the phone from Yugi’s grasp making the shorter male turn around to chase after it. “Kaiba.” He called out in surprise.

“Kaiba!” Atem echoed Yugi’s cry, the two still perfectly in sync, though his tone was full of rage. How dare Kaiba take Yugi’s phone when he was about to share photos of his son with them. Kaiba was going to return to the land of the living. He would get to meet the boy, Atem would not have that luxury.

Kaiba ignored them and stared at the young boy in the photo. “Yugi, why did you adopt this kid?” Kaiba wasn’t an idiot. There was no way Yugi hid a biological child for the past four years. Plus they had only just graduated high school, and as far as he was aware Yugi didn’t have any friends four years ago. So this kid wasn’t his biologically, meaning he had to have adopted him. And Kaiba had a lot of feelings about adoption. He needed to know Yugi’s reasoning for his action.

“Adopted?” Atem questioned and he could hear his friends murmuring in confusion as well. Yet that made far more sense than any of Atem’s prior theories on how Yugi became a father. Now he was just as curious as Kaiba. Why did his young aibou adopt a child.

Yugi reached up and snatched his phone back from Kaiba. “It’s a long story. So I’ll give you the condescend version.” He explained as he handed his phone over to Atem. The pharaoh taking the devise with great care, looking at the familiar image of his aibou’s grandfather, and the brand new face of his aibou’s adopted son.

The boy was adorable with a bright smile and two tone brown hair. His big brown eyes shining with excitement. Atem could hear Mana cooing over his shoulder, and he had to agree, the kid was adorable.

“There are more pictures, that’s in the middle of the album.” Yugi let him know, he knew Atem knew how a phone worked. As Atem started flipping from picture to picture he could hear the shock from his father and friends at the technology in his hand. He ignored them in favor of paying attention to the different pictures of the boy. Some were of the boy alone, smiling up at the camera, others were of him and Yugi together. Each image made Atem’s heart ache more, knowing that he would never get to be a part of his aibou’s new life with his son.

“His names Jaden.” Yugi informed them, “I met him when I was coming home from college…” and Yugi proceeded to tell them about Jaden. The lonely little boy he had met, who had a heart of gold and was already an incredibly duelist. Yet everyone seemed to be afraid of the boy, it was the strangest thing. Yugi had thought the boy at least had a family to go home to and when he discovered that was not the case he made the decision to adopt the boy.

“Why?” Kaiba asked. He had been oddly silent the whole conversation but couldn’t help asking this question. He had to know. Had to know if Yugi was training his successors like Gozaburo trained him.

Yugi turned and looked up at him and smiled so gently. “Because he’s a great kid. Who deserves to grow up knowing that he’s loved and cared for. I wasn’t looking to adopt him when we met, but once I got to know Jaden and learned about his situation, I realized I had come to care for him. I love him. He was mine far before I adopted him, I just didn’t realize it until the option was in front of my face.”

Kaiba’s world was rocked, he couldn’t understand. “But this is going to make your life so much harder.”

Yugi’s eyes hardened at his comment. “You’re right. Being a father is going to make my life harder in many ways, but Jaden’s already brought so much joy and light into my life, that I don’t really care. As long as he’s happy and safe I can deal with any consequences.” Yugi knows he’s put himself at a disadvantage by having a kid this early, one that’s came with unexplained trauma to boot. It would make it harder to date, find jobs, and moving out would take way longer as he was looking to house two instead of one, but Jaden was worth it. He would rather be Jaden’s father than be ‘worry free’ in his 20s. Yes, it was a harder path, but it was his choice.

Kaiba was looking at Yugi in awe. He didn’t know what to say. He didn’t know people adopted kids because they wanted what was best for the kid. He thought all adoptions were like Gozaburo, where people only adopt children so that they could get something out of them or use them.

But he should have known Yugi was different. Yugi was always different. The fact that he had come after Kaiba was proof of that. Even after everything he had put Yugi through the young man still saw the best in Kaiba and tried to help him. Even when Kaiba didn’t want his help, practically spat at it, Yugi was always willing to lend him his hand.

Maybe it was about time Kaiba started reaching back. After all Yugi was going to need help raising a kid, Kaiba had practically raised Mokuba, he knows how difficult it can be. Yugi wanted to give Jaden the same thing Seto had always wanted to give Mokuba, and that he could respect Yugi for.

Yugi had turned away from Kaiba a while ago go to speak to Atem and his family, but Kaiba couldn’t help looking upon his rival a little more fondly.

“As long as he’s happy and safe I can deal with any of the consequences or struggles this will put me through.” Yugi had just finished telling Kaiba that Jaden was far more important to him than any hardships his adoption might bring him, and Atem had never been prouder of his partner. He thought the end of the Ceremonial Duel was the proudest he could ever feel of his aibou but here his aibou was, surprising him all over again.

“What else can you tell me about him?” Atem asked grabbing Yugi’s attention away from Kaiba. “I want to know everything about your son.” Yugi practically beamed at him.

“Agreed we need to know everything about my grandson.” Aknamkanon concurred placing one hand on Yugi’s back and one on Atem’s, gently guiding the two boys deeper into the palace. “I know you need to leave soon but please indulge us. Isis and Mahad are working to fix our scrying pool, but it will be a while until we are able to look into the land of the living again. I’d love to know everything about my grandson.”

Yugi smiled at the man and Atem, he would love to tell them all about Jaden, but he didn’t want to worry his boy. “I’d love to, but Jaden-”

“He’s with Mokuba right?” Kaiba cut in following after them. Yugi turned his head to catch Kaiba’s eyes over his shoulder.

“Ya he is.” Yugi told him. “Joey and Mokuba are watching him while I’m gone.”

“Mokuba is more that capable of keeping Jaden alive for a few hours while you catch up with the Pharaoh. Though I don’t know why you invited Wheeler along. Though if you were looking for a guard dog I guess I can understand your logic.”

Yugi glared at him for the backhanded compliment to Joey, but kept his mouth shut. After all a back handed compliment was better than Kaiba’s normal open disdain for his best friend. He could also tell that in Kaiba’s own strange way he was trying to reassure Yugi that Jaden would be fine. But Kaiba didn’t know the whole situation.

“Alright, but I have to get back before night fall.” Yugi said agreeing to Aknamkanon and Atem’s request. His statement immediately caught Atem’s attention.

“Why is that?” It was only an hour away, and while Atem had order Kaiba to go home for a month now he found himself desperately wish Yugi would stay for as long as possible.

“Jaden has awful nightmares, but he never remembers them when he wakes up.” Yugi paused and worried his lip between his teeth debating the next words he was going to say.

Atem stopped walking, making the group stop as well, as he turned to face Yugi. “Aibou what’s wrong?” Atem always hated when Yugi kept things from him. He had been the boy’s protector for years, and while Yugi was strong enough to protect himself, that didn’t stop the way his heart froze at the idea of Yugi or his son in trouble.

Yugi looked at him and seemed to cave under the worry in Atem’s eyes. Atem had always been a pillar of strength for him. If there was anyone that he could bare his heart and his fears for Jaden to, it was Atem.

“I think that they are more than just nightmares. Jaden can’t remember them when he wakes up, but all of my duel spirits react when he has one. And there’s this presence that seems to envelop him when he has them. I don’t know what it is, but it’s hurting him.” Yugi revealed the information that had been terrifying him since he brought Jaden home that first night. Something was coming after his son and he had no idea what.

Atem moved quickly to pull Yugi into a tight hug. “We will figure this out. No harm will fall upon your son. I promise.”

Yugi returned the embrace holding Atem close. “I’m afraid there’s not a lot you can do Atem.” Atem was dead. While it was so comforting to be with him again, there was very little Atem could do to help Jaden.

Atem tightened his arms around Yugi. He hated to admit it but Yugi was right. There was precious little he could do. Except…. Yes, that he could do. “I can do more than you think.” He made sure his voice was confident, there was no need to worry Yugi over him. Yugi pullled back to look at him. “I’ll send Slifer’s spirit to protect him. Whatever is reach out to him won’t get past Slifer.”

“Atem don’t be foolish. The amount of energy that would take would leave you with barely any energy for yourself.” His father argued.

“Well I’m already dead I don’t need that much energy.” Atem played it off with ease. This is something he could do to protect Jaden and Yugi. He’d sacrifice anything for them.

“My Pharaoh allow me to go first.” Mahad step forward. “I will put an end to this threat. There is no reason for you to waist your strength.” He knew just how important Yugi was to Atem. It was just as much his duty to protect Yugi as it was to protect Atem, and now that protection extended to Jaden as well.

“Mahad I-” Atem started, he wanted to protect Jaden. He wanted to help Yugi. But he was cut off.

“I don’t want you to do anything that could put you at risk.” Yugi cut in. “I left the Silent Magician with Jaden, if Mahad joins them I can’t imagine any spirits being able to get by them.” Yugi looked at his friend with pleading eyes. He didn’t want Atem to disturb his hard earned rest just for him.

Atem let out a breath, Yugi was one of the few people he would bow to. “Mahad please go down and keep an eye on Jaden.” Mahad smiled transforming into Palladium Oracle Mahad. “But Mahad if that thing gets by you I need to know immediately.” If this creature gets past Mahad then Atem was sending Slifer after it.

Mahad bowed. “It will not come to that. I’ll be back in the morning.” And with that the magician disappeared.

Aknamkanon placed his hand on Yugi’s shoulder drawling the young man’s attention to him. “You should stay until morning.” Yugi was about to protest when Aknamkanon cut him off. “I know you want to return to your son as soon as possible, believe me I understand.” He said giving a warm look to Atem, before directing his attention back to Yugi. “But if you wait until Mahad returns he can inform us on what he found tonight. You will have a better understanding of the foe you are facing.”

He could tell Yugi was reluctant to stay be finally the boy nodded his head. “Alright. That does sound like the best decision.”

Aknamkanon was over joyed. He got to spend more time with his son’s true brother and learn more about his grandson. Truly the best outcome.

(Been a bit busy with this and that, but I wanted to take a little time to jot something down. @alectoperdita this is dedicated to you, because I want you to know that someone is thinking about you and wants good things for you. <3

This is a sequel to this piece btw.)

He should have known he would become...complacent. Give in to temptation once, and you can convince yourself to give in a hundred times more. What was the harm, after all?

After following Jounouchi the first time - and enjoying a salty can of tuna and a warm lap to snooze on - Seto had talked himself into returning again. And again. And again. The walk along Jounouchi's neighborhood became familiar to him, and the neighbors, in turn, had come to recognize him. They teased Jounouchi when he was about. "Got yourself a pretty new friend, eh?"

Really, Seto should have stopped coming when that started. But the cat side of him was too pleased to be pampered and he let it override his better judgment.

Which led to now. Well after sundown, Jounouchi snoring on his couch in the background, tv blaring in a dark room. Seto himself having fallen asleep on the man's lap, now fumbling with the locked window as quietly as possible so as not to wake him.

Stupid. Stupid. Normally he was more careful, being sure to paw at the window before dark so Jounouchi would let him out. But he'd been lulled to sleep by a full belly and rough fingers rubbing between his ears and he just...

The lock clicked, too loudly, and Seto stilled for a moment. Jounouchi let out a little grunt, but otherwise continued sleeping. Seto let out a breath of relief, then went to open the window.

The window that had jammed a hundred times before and Seto knew that, but foolishly forgot in his hurry, and so jammed again and opened with a loud thunk.

Jounouchi awoke with a snort and a cry. Seto whipped his head around and their eyes met, startled brown meeting panicked blue in a stark, mortifying silence.

Seto crouched there, naked at Jounouchi's windowsill feeling like some pale, lanky gremlin from the way he was being gawked at.

After a moment, Jounouchi croaked out, "Kaiba...?"

Finally, that sparked movement. Seto shifted, the fastest he ever had in his life, and bolted out the window on four furry legs. He tried not to think about the bewildered man he'd left behind. He barely remembered getting home.

He'd been determined not to go back - or even think of that night - since then. If anyone asked, he changed the subject.

After a point, however, it began to feel very much like running away...and knowing Jounouchi, he wouldn't be able to do so forever. The deadbeat had the bizarre and infuriating habit of turning up in Seto's life whether he was welcomed or not.

So he went back.

He wasn’t sure what he expected. It had been weeks since he'd taken this route. Oddly enough, the neighbors seemed to find relief in his presence, as though they'd been worried about him. Seto endured kissy noises and cooing until he reached his destination.

And was promptly greeted with the deadbeat himself, staring down at Seto with a bag of groceries in his arms. He looked just as wary as Seto felt.

Seto tapped his tail on the ground and stared back. He would not break first.

In the end, Jounouchi looked away first, only to look up at one of his neighbors who called to him, "You should collar the little dear for good, you know! We wondered if he’d gone and got himself killed when he went away, you know."

Jounouchi let out an awkward laugh at the same time that Seto sneezed in displeasure.

"I wouldn’t be worried about him, Setsuna-san. He's a tough cat."

He looked down again, and Seto tilted his head.

"Full of surprises, too," Jounouchi added, more between the two of them. "Every time I think you can't get weirder..."

Seto curled his lip and growled low. Who does this mutt think he's calling 'weird'?

Jounouchi seemed unimpressed. "You’re still welcome to come up, by the way. Think Setsuna-san will try to take you home herself if you don’t. I want an explanation, though."

Seto scoffed, ears folding back. He glared heavily, earning an eyeroll in return. Still, as Jounouchi started up the stairs, he followed.

Once inside, Jounouchi pointed to his bedroom before making his way to the counter to put down his groceries. "Left some clothes in there for you," he said. "In case you're not actually into running around with your dick out."

Seto hissed at him. Then he trotted off into the bedroom to dress. When he returned, Jounouchi was sitting at his small dining table with two plates of store-bought onigiri and two bottles of ramune soda.

Deadpan, Seto said, "It’s a wonder how you survive if this is your daily diet."

"Sorry, your majesty, I don't have any tuna for you today. Wasn’t expecting a guest."

Seto scowled, but he slid into the opposite chair without further comment.

Jounouchi watched him, munching slowly on one of his onigiri. Seto took the soda instead, and sipped at it delicately for a moment before deciding to just...be done with it.

"I'm a shifter. It runs in my family, though I don't remember when it started."

"Huh." Jounouchi tilted his head. One cheek bulged with onigiri, making him look like some large, bizarre hamster. "Mokuba too, then?"

"Yes. Mokuba, too."

"How come I never see him around, then? Why just you?"

"We walked together in the past, when he was younger," Seto said. "Lately he's decided to...exercise his independence. So I leave him to it."

"Right, right." Jounouchi nodded. "So here's the big question...why did you come here?"

Seto willed his ears not to flame, and took a drink, swallowing so fast the carbonation burned his throat. It wasn’t as though he didn't have an answer, but...

He sighed. "I was hoping never to have this conversation."

Jounouchi snorted. "Too bad. This is what you get for blinding me with your pasty ass at two am. Spill it, Kaiba. Why here?"

Another sigh. Seto idly picked at the plastic label on the bottle with a fingernail.

"It was supposed to be temporary. Most people aren't aware of what I am, as you can imagine, so occasionally I need to...avoid being seen. Your neighborhood was new, and thus momentarily safer. I didn't know at the time that you lived here."

"But you came back. Why?"

Seto looked up. Jounouchi's eyes were probing. Intense, searching for something. Hoping? How strange. Seto matched the gaze, if not in intensity, then in curiosity.

"I am as much cat as human, Jounouchi. You offered food and affection readily, and I found the offer...tempting, especially from a familiar face. What more should I say?"

Jounouchi stared a moment longer, then sat back. Opened his own soda and took a swig.

"Yeah, alright. I get it, I guess." He looked contemplative, a strange expression on his face, at least in Seto's opinion. "I thought it was nice, too. Less lonely, having someone around. Always kinda wished..."

He stopped, shook his head. Smiled in a way that put some unease in Seto's chest that he did not know what to do with.

"Anyway, what now, now that I know you're...you?"

Seto blinked. "You’re taking this very well."

"After all the magic bullshit I've had to put up with in the past?" Jounouchi barked a laugh. "Come on, Kaiba. This is nothing."

Seto supposed that was fair. He sat back as well, finally picking up an onigiri and biting into it. Funnily enough, there was tuna inside.

"I suppose, if you have no objections...I might come by here again."

Jounouchi's eyes seemed to sparkle for a moment. "Yeah?"

Seto nodded. "This route is comfortable...and your company...well. Perhaps it isn't as bad as I thought."

Jounouchi shook his head, letting out a soft snort. "You know what? I'll take it. One condition, though," he added, reaching for another onigiri.

"What’s that?"

"No more free treats, rich boy. From now on, you're earning your tuna."

Seto rolled his eyes, but didn't tamp down the smile starting to play on his lips. Trust Jounouchi to make light of everything...but he supposed he wouldn't have it any other way.

"Very well," he said. "I can live with that."

I dunno if you meant just in general or horny ones but I'll take this as an excuse to list some non-horny favorites:

GIANT ROBO: THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

This is just such a cool series to me. I'm not a mecha person, but I love what they do to make Robo so huge and imposing. You FEEL its imposing size. The thing about it feeling like episode 40-47 of a 60 episode or whatever length series is really fun if you're somebody like me with an iron thick willingness to just go along with a series. Plus it works since there's so much of Mitsuteru Yokoyama's work referenced and remixed here. The animation is so great, it's always beautiful to look at.

IDOL PROJECT

Is this anime good? Probably not... Do I love it? YES. It's just such a non-stop bubblegum fever dream. The girls are paper thin, but they're given such life by the amazingly 90's character designs of Noritaka Suzuki. They are so dedicated to cute girls that characters that appear for two shots and then never seen again are fully fleshed out designs. It's a 2 hour, 4 episode OVA series, that's movie length, go and turn your brain off and watch it.

KAIBA

My go-to answer for "what's your favorite anime?". Because it's animated, they can do a lot more fun body swapping stuff than something like Altered Carbon with a very similar premise. They also just think through and do a lot of fun and heartbreaking stuff with its premise of being able to basically collect peoples' memories and put them in and out of bodies. The universe depicted in Kaiba is one that is realistically cyberpunk, without ever becoming dour and depressed about it. Some people don't like the switch from planet adventure of the week to romance story on the one planet, but I think its kinda necessary for the story they're telling. If you're ever curious about seeing what Masaaki Yuasa (Tatami Galaxy, Inu-Oh, Keep Your Hands off Eizouken) was up to in his early days, I think you should check it out.

OTHER MISCELLANEOUS STUFF I'LL THROW OUT THERE WITHOUT A FULL BLURB

ODDTAXI is fun noir furry stuff, Symphogear has very high highs and some low lows, I found Baccano very fun but I'm a sucker for that setting, FLCL made me love anime, Re:Cutie Honey is awesome I just like Cutie Honey in general, Plastic Memories made me cry my eyes out, if you want the genesis of super powered cute girls anime go watch Project A-ko, the Slayers OVAs with Naga are a fun time even if I don't really like Fantasy stuff, His and Her Circumstances is both so different and so in-line with Gainax's body of work.

Anime's cool! Go watch some!

ygo gang, but make it: the type of drunk they are. 🫠

jounouchi: 'designated driver' sober guy bc he's scared that if he drinks he'll be like his dad. has one beer and calls it a day. he will hold your hair back in the bathroom when you're yakking.

yuugi: maudlin sentimental drunk. cups everyone's face between his hands and tells them how proud he is of them and how much he loves them. starts crying, but it's happy tears

honda: chest-bumping exuberant drunk. beer pong. drinking games. loves a craft IPA but he's not a snob about his beers he'll happily crush a sapporo light and a pliny the younger from russian river brewing alike. he will also hold your hair back in the bathroom when you're yakking.

ryou: doesn't drink a lot so he goes overboard when he drinks because he doesn't know what his limits are. the type of guy who runs off on a lark and you lose track of him and then you have to send the most sober guy (jounouchi) to go find him and he's at the corner store buying lottery tickets and chips or petting a cat

otogi: only drinks craft cocktails and he only ever wants to go to this one bar he really likes. giggles a lot like he has a secret joke that no one else is in on

kaiba: two drinks and then he's doing key bumps in the bathroom because the difference between "kaiba is only comfortable talking about duel monsters and dragons" and "kaiba is talking AT you really fast about duel monsters and dragons" is not that much, really

anzu: goes to art college in new york city. when she gets drunk she starts to sing a lot, mostly showtunes, and she always wants to eat food afterwards. doing bumps in the bathroom with kaiba because, again, she goes to art college in new york city

pegasus: sits alone in his wine cellar with a little charcuterie board and a glass of pinot noir worth $5690 plotting revenge on someone, probably kaiba

C, D 👀 👀 👀

C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.

I decided to go through my looong list of blocked tags here on tumblr.com and try to pick at least a few, but then a strange realization hit me: I didn't really hate most of these ships per se. Sure, there's stuff in there that I don't find interesting or that's not my thing, but aside from iffy stuff like incest I can't really say "I strongly disagree with this pairing". TBH the reason most of these ships are blocked is because they're popular ships that won't become canon, which creates this annoying mix of delusion and defensiveness among fans that's hard to avoid, and in the end it's just easier to block the whole tag if you're not into the ship than try to "separate the sheep from the goats" (not to imply fans who ship the same as me are perfect, but in this case I'm willing to weed out the wackos in order to get to the good stuff haha).

So yeah, sorry if you thought this was going to be more spicy lol.

D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.

Ishizu Ishtar x Seto Kaiba (Yugioh) and Dante x Lucia (Devil May Cry) are two ships that on paper should be my thing, but in reality I never got hooked on either of them. Sometimes ships are the same in fiction as they are in real life: it's supposed to a good match in theory but you're just not feeling the chemistry.

Nostalgia con haul! One of my smallest but most importantly con hauls yet! Ramble under the cut

First off I only went for two people, Matthew and Nazeeh. I was originally going to opt for the ygo submission but when I saw both were attending I knew I had to go.

I know Matthew recent started going to conventions, and that makes me so happy. He was amazing as Jaden, I'm glad he's finally feeling the love from the community. I had to go in person and tell him that. He was so kind, he even gave me a hug! I met Dan and Greg short after meeting him. They were both extremely sweet as well. Dan especially, he had the smallest area to work with. Dan has such dad energy irl it's amazing. I'm so happy I met all three of them, my childhood hero's.

Then there was Nazeeh. If you've been on my blog, you know misumi is my biggest comfort character. I've interacted with Nazeeh on Twitter before. But this was my first time meeting him irl. He was beyond sweet, even making sure he had extra misumi prints because I'd said something on Twitter. I told him how much it ment that he played misumi, how much it ment that he shows misumi so much love. I swear I almost made him cry. He's such a sweet man I want to meet him again in the future. He made today memorable for me and I'll never be able to thank him enough.

It was nice getting to see everyone and walking around. I didn't have a lot of money after the autographs but I did get some small things. Sloth got a lot of dune stuff which is great! I'm glad we were able to find dune merch since sloth doesn't have a lot.

Oh and on the way out, Eric Stuart was in front of us on the elevator. His bag had so much kaiba merch on it, both fan made and official. It was honestly so adorable. I think I'll go back to nostalgia con again!

I Finished the Rest of Battle City

I was honestly getting a little tired of Marik and his problems by this point in the series which is why this took so long.

Voice acting:

Marik: THEY TOOK AWAY HIS SKELETOR VOICE

Characters:

Yami: He's pretty much the same, only he completely forgives normal Marik.

Yugi: pretty much the same only he forgives normal Marik.

Joey: he died and I started crying. He's pretty good as always and was absolutely robbed of that victory.

Téa: she kept getting possessed.

Tristan: nothing new

Duke: nothing new

Ryou: ate all the donuts

Yami Bakura: he giggled and did nothing.

Ishizu: she yells in lowercase and I think that's funny

Odion: Maybe it's just the dub, but he never says he wants Marik to be safe because he loves him. He just says it's his duty and it's how he'll be accepted into his family. Idk. It's a little weird that this may be his and Marik's final moments and he doesn't once say that he loves him.

Marik: I hate you. I hate you so much.

Yami Marik: hype wore off this guy sucks and can't duel without plot armor. He also talks way too much and it gets on my nerves.

Seto Kaiba: he's so angry that Yugi beat him in his own tournament it's kinda funny. He is my savior in these last episodes.

Mokuba: he's here

Duels:

Duel 1: Four Way Duel

In this duel Joey, Kaiba, Yami, and Yami Marik are all dueling each other at the same time. For a little bit, everyone is targeting Joey, but Yami keeps defending him so they move on to attacking Marik.

Every time Yami defends Joey, Kaiba says something snarky and that makes Joey go "Hey man, let me duel on my own for Mai."

And Yami just begrudgingly does it. Like this man does not want Joey dueling Marik.

Marik is just in his own little corner going "AHAHAHAAA I'm so evil" and everyone ignores him.

Kaiba is trying to knock out someone. I forgot who. He wants to get all three Egyptian God Cards and make his deck even brickier.

Yami Marik loses.

Duel 2: Joey vs Yami Marik

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💪🪓💥PEAK💥🎉💯💯🔥💯💯❤️‍🔥⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡🦅🦅🦅

This duel is Yami Marik's only good duel, and by God is it Joey's second best (I like Joey vs Valon more).

In this duel, Yami Marik makes it a Shadow Game in which your energy gets drained if your monster is destroyed or loses attack points. Because Joey is a normal guy, he is weaker to this and therefore loses faster.

Some stuff happens and Joey was given Lava Golem. This makes him lose life points faster. Yami Marik is slowly burning him with other cards like nightmare wheel, but lava golem is cooler.

Yami Marik uses some worm things to make Joey lose more energy. Joey sacrifices them so he can summon Geilfried (idk how to spell it).

Yami Marik summons Ra Phoenix mode and destroys all of Joey's monsters. But my boy still stands.

Joey summons Gearfried and almost attacks, but then he dies.

Duel 3: Kaiba vs Yami

I kept dozing off during this duel because I was worried about Joey, soooooo I kinda have no clue what happened other than like a few things.

Kaiba and Yami are dueling in a coliseum because Kaiba is crazy.

Kaiba gives Yami Change of Heart sometime during this duel. Which makes me wonder if he always had that on hand, or if he yoinked it from Bakura. Did Bakura ever get it back?

Kaiba so summons his blue eyes at some point in this duel. And Yami summons red eyes. And that Dark Magician Paladin thing.

During this duel Kaiba and Yami attack each other with their god cards and it takes them to a vision of the past in which the gods are turned to stone and the two of them are fighting.

Yami Marik is stuck in a wall. One time I read a fic where Yami Bakura stopped time and butt fucked him there. Wild.

Yami wins by means I don't remember and Mokuba and Kaiba fight about something.

INTERMISSION

Téa gets possessed again and goes to fight Yami Marik.

Kaiba gets annoyed at Ishizu and then Joey.

Mokuba is annoyed at Kaiba.

Yami Marik and Marik are fighting during Kaiba and Joey's duel.

TéaMarik does some sick flips and then Ishizu and Yami intervene and make Yami Marik go away.

Turns out Marik is a little regretful about being the absolute worst and wants to make things right by doing not much at all because he sucks and can't do shit without help.

Téa is back.

Duel 4: Kaiba vs Joey

Joey was pissing off Kaiba and that convinced a duel for third place.

Kaiba is winning.

Joey summons Blue Eyes White Dragon from Kaiba's graveyard and this makes Kaiba so angry.

Uuuuhhhh.... Joey told Mokuba that Kaiba doesn't care about him and that made me really upset.

Some stuff happens idk I wasn't paying attention I don't really care about this rivalry.

Kaiba won and Joey got made fun of.

Final duel: Yami Marik vs Yami Yugi

Shadow game

I don't remember the first part of this duel other than Marik and Yugi are at risk of death and like I get caring about Yugi dying, but Marik kinda deserves it.

So um... Every time Yami loses life points Yugi's body starts to disappear. Same thing with Marik.

Yami summons his poker knights and then summons Slifer.

Marik Summons Ra.

Yami destroys Ra and then Summons Obelisk with A card Kaiba gave him.

Marik summons Egyptian God slime and Yami never asks what it does despite the fact that he can.

Some stuff happens and Yami uses Ragnarok and destroys everything and Marik surrenders.

HOW AND WHY MARIK SURRENDERED

While this duel is happening, Normal Marik is talking to Odion's dead body and says that everything that happened was his (Marik's) fault, and that he's sorry.

A while later, Odion wakes up and goes to save Marik. And by save I mean give him a pep talk.

He goes on and on about how Marik is good and can beat the darkness inside of him.

Marik is given a new found strength and tells Yami to attack him.

Yami attacks him and Marik has one life point left. Marik surrenders and Yami Marik dies while begging.

Marik is forgiven and I still don't think he did much to deserve it.

Afterwards

After that duel, Marik apologizes again, and then takes his shirt off to show Yami the scriptures on his back.

Yami can't read it tho so it was kinda pointless.

Marik then gives him the millennium rod and ring and Yami Bakura's lame ass who was playing spin the bottle with Dark Magician said "Thank you" because he's polite and we love him.

Kaiba says he's going to blow up the island.

Joey and the gang go check on Mai and Serenity says she ain't wake up yet, but then she wakes up because Joey juST GOT PRANKED LMAO

The Gang then find Bakura eating food because there isn't much to eat in the Shadow Realm. That makes me think that the Shadow Realm is biased towards the Bakurae because they always only get a slap on the wrist for losing.

We don't see Bakura or the Ishtar's for the rest of the episode so I'm choosing to believe they were busy adopting Bakura into their family as Marik's husband.

It takes the gang way too long to realize that they can just take the helicopter and don't have to ride in the broken aircraft.

The island explodes and the Kaibas come out in a Blue Eyes jet (there is a card of it).

This makes Joey upset.

The squad get back to Domino and Marik apologizes again, and his siblings thank Yugi and his friends for helping them.

"Mr. Kaiba! Mokuba, sir!"

Mokuba snaps awake, rubbing his eyes as Roland calls him on the office's intercom.

"Damnit, Roland." he mutters, straightening himself as he directs his vision towards the intercom speaker he installed on the desk, pressing a button next to it to reveal a hologram of Roland's face.

"It's news about your brother, sir," Roland pauses. "We found him."

Mokuba immediately stands up at this, now more awake.

"Is he alive? Where is he?!" Mokuba demanded, already feeling the lump in his throat growing, his voice booming through the room just like his brother's used to when someone would mess up in his company, or when Pegasus was meddling with KaibaCorp business.

Roland's voice returns through the hologram, "W-well uh sir.. We are getting him to the best hospital in Domino City." The man's voice sputtering with stress.

'Damnit Seto... You better be alright I swear to God I'll kill you if you aren't already dead!' Mokuba thinks, his face scrunched with anger and tears stinging the corner of his eyes.

"Send me the location that you're sending him to. I'll be there in 7."

Mokuba shuts off the hologram before Roland can respond, grabbing his black trenchcoat and rushing out of Seto Kaiba's office. He had been utilizing it to run KaibaCorp when Seto disappeared off to... God knows where. The man had been missing for nearly two years after he first started using the Quantum Cube to travel to the afterlife to battle Atem, but when he returned he was working on some project to do with alternative realities. That's when he went to the KaibaCorp space station one day and.. Disappeared.

Mokuba gets into the car, immediately starting it and rushing down the highway, weaving between slow cars, and far surpassing the legal speed limit. He tried focus on driving responsibly, but the tears welling in his eyes kept distracting him from being able to see the road.

'Ugh... Hell I have to stop crying. I can't see what I'm doing. Focus Mokuba, focu-'

His thoughts were cut off, as he felt millions of sharp cold knives hit him everywhere, his breath knocked out of him as he was uplifted from his seat, and he could see and hear the blaring sirens of an emergency ambulance.

The last thing he felt as he hit the cold wet pavement was being lifted up by paramedics, and the muffled voices of doctors.

"Isn't that his brother..?"

"I guess they're both together now."

"We must get them both to the hospital, we don't have time!"

"But sir the ambulance has been rearended-"

Mokuba couldn't think of anything else except the doctor's voice booming:

"NOW!"

...and then silence.

Christmas Eve Epilogue

Epilogue

Mokuba was getting worried about his brother and Lillian, that last scream had terrified him if he were being honest. It wasn’t like he didn’t know what was going, biology was one of the subjects he was taught by his private tutors…but the cries and screams of pain reminded him the time during Battle City when Marik had tortured Lillian to torment Yugi and make him throw his duel against Joey…it was one of his worst memories. It made him tremble just thinking about it…Hikaru noticed this and wrapped his arm tightly around the boy, a soft smile on his face, “It’s alright my boy…she’ll be ok.” he said reassuringly…

Mokuba still had doubts but that quickly faded when the sound of a baby crying replaced Lillian’s screams…

A few moments later Seto came walking into the living room, the new-born baby wrapped in a soft blue blanket nestled in his arms, a rare gentle smile on the new father’s face. Mokuba is the first to get up and run over to his brother, followed by Noah, Hikaru, Joey, and Sugoroku. The surrounded Kaiba as he held looked at them all, “Everyone, I’d like you to meet…” he slowly moves the blanket to reveal the little girl’s face, her eyes opened as she was looking at the world around her, a slight scowl on her face at being surrounded by so many unknown people, “…Jasmine M. Kaiba.”

Nobody knows what to say, Hikaru and Sugoroku looking at the infant with adoration written all over their faces, Mr. Muto now being a great grandfather, and Hikaru now being a grandfather. The tall dragonoid man rests his hand on Seto’s shoulder, “She’s beautiful…Congratulations son.” Kaiba gave him a small nod of acknowledgement.

He turns his attention to his little and carefully kneels down, giving Mokuba a chance to look at Jasmine, his eyes filled with awe for the tiny being in his brothers arms, “She’s so…tiny.” Jasmine looks at him, cooing softly as Seto nods before a small grin forms on his face, “You want to hold your niece?”

Mokuba is hesitant but doesn’t have the chance to answer as Seto stands up and leads his little brother back to the couch, the two of them sitting down before Kaiba carefully moves his daughter to Mokuba, the young boy holding her carefully as he looks down at his niece, she looked so much like Seto despite still only being so small. She cooed sweetly as she stares up at the boy before she yawned cutely. Mokuba couldn’t help but smile as Seto put his arm around his shoulders.

Kaiba looks up at Noah, seeing the uncertainty on the robot boy’s face as he motioned his head, indicating for the green haired kid to come over. Noah wonders over and sits beside his younger brother, looking at the infant in his arms, Joey joining them, watching the baby’s expression shift to a scowl again when she sees Wheeler. The blond chuckled softly, “She’s definitely a Kaiba. She’s got yer face.” Seto frowned and was about to retort as the blond tries to make funny faces at the infant only for Jasmine to whimper before letting out a wail, freaking Mokuba out.

Seto smirked as he took back his daughter and gently rocked her to calm her down, “Seems that she dislikes you just as much as I do Wheeler.” Joey growls as everyone else chuckles at the teen’s reaction.

Atem watches this all from the side line before slipping away to find Yugi.

He finds his beloved stepping out of the guest room where Lillian had given birth, a smile forming on the pharaoh’s face as Yugi looked up at him with a small smile, “Are you alright?” Atem asks as he pulls the other close, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead as Yugi giggled softly, “I’m fine. Although I’m not the one that just delivered a baby…did you see her?” the pharaoh nodded as he wrapped his arms around his waist, holding him close, “I did. She’s certainly a Kaiba; she’s already giving Joey a hard time.” Yugi couldn’t help but laugh as he shakes his head, “She does look like her father. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so…”

“Disturbingly happy?” Atem smirked; Yugi pouted and playfully slapped his arm causing the pharaoh to snicker. He shakes his head and leans in; pressing his lips against his loves lips in a sweet kiss. Yugi couldn’t help but melt into his embrace as he slowly wraps his arms around Atem’s neck, his fingers running through his raven hair, the two eventually parting as they rested their foreheads together. Yugi looked deeply into Atem’s swirling hues of crimson as he ran his hand over his cheeks, the pharaoh turning his head to gently press kisses to his fingertips, a small smile on his face.

Yugi eventually pulled back but held Atem’s hands, giving them a gentle squeeze as he takes a deep breath, worried expression forming on the others face, “Everything alright?” Yugi nodded as he tried to calm the nerves that had creeped its way back into him, “Yeah, just…there was something I wanted to talk to you about before we were interrupted this morning…” he swallowed the lump in his throat, “I know we’ve never really discussed it…mainly because it was a rather sore topic back in our past lives but…Atem I…did…how would you feel about having…a child?”

Yugi could see Atem visibly tense up, the pharaoh’s grip tightening slightly on the pale teens hands, “I…I don’t know…” he slowly let go and stepped back, leaning against the wall, staring up at the ceiling as he thinks back. He could understand why Yugi had brought it up considering that the teen sister just had a baby; it was natural for thoughts of having a kid to enter the minds of those in the family. In all honesty Atem never really considered it, even back in Egypt…it seemed like a thing that would have to happen since he was pharaoh, but after everything that happened to his beloved and nearly losing him, he just never thought about it again. He had married the love of his life and he was happy, it was just the two of them and to him that was fine, there was no need for a child…after all he had named Seth his heir, the priest being his closest friend (and let’s not forget cousin but that’s a story for another time).

He sighs as he turns his gaze back to Yugi, seeing the look of worry and fear in his amethyst eyes, taking in ever little detail of his face. He may appear similar to who he was in the past and yet there were minor details that were differently, little shifts in his personality that had adapted to the modern world…Yugi had grown up with a family while Heba had been by Atem’s side since they were children…Yugi had people that loved and supported him, people that adored him while Heba just had Atem…Yugi had a bright (albeit a little shy at times) and confident personality, willing to sacrifice himself for the those that were closest to his heart…while Heba was sweet and reserved…despite all this, there was one thing that had remained the same…the love and bond that the of them shared…

He reaches out and takes his loves hands, intertwining their fingers while he uses his other hand to caress Yugi’s cheek, “I’ve never thought of us starting a family…it was never something I thought would be possible for us…” Yugi leans into his touch as he gently squeezes his hand, Atem’s thumb running slowly over his cheek bone, “But what if it was possible Atem?” the pharaoh tilts his head slightly as a look of confusion, “What do you mean?” a small smile forms on the shorter teens face, “What if by some chance…some small unbelievable chance…that we could have a child…a little that was a part of me and you?”

Yugi could see Atem’s mind was racing, trying to make sense of what he had said…he swallows a lump that had formed in his throat, “Well…I am unsure…” Yugi’s heart started sink slightly until he sees a smile forming on Atem’s face, “But I can grow to like the idea of starting a family with you…” he pulls the other close, wrapping his arms around him, “…I could grow to love a child that was part of me and you…if they are anything like you they will be sweet…kind…and downright adorable.” He leans in and nuzzles Yugi’s cheek making the shorter teen giggle, looking up at his beloved, “Well if they are anything like you, they would be confident…caring…strong…and will probably have an ego bigger than yours.” He chuckles as Atem rolls his eyes before kissing Yugi’s forehead, “No matter what they are like, they will be loved…they will be a treasure in our hearts…”

Yugi nearly teared up before hugging Atem tightly, “I love you so much.” The pharaoh rubs his cheek along the top of the others head, inhaling his scent for just a moment, “I love you too Aibou.” He slowly pulls away, “But what brought this up? Besides your niece being born I mean…”

Yugi’s smile grew as he leaned in close and whispered something in Atem’s ear…the pharaoh’s crimson eyes slowly widened as his beloved pulled back, the taller teen looking at the other with shock, his had trembling as he laid it on Yugi’s side, his thumb running over his stomach. A second later he lifts Yugi into the air spinning him around as they both laughed with joy…

Later that night…

Everyone had been given a guest room as the roads were still closed due to the blizzard from earlier, although by some miracle Roland had managed to return to the manor, congratulating the couple on their baby. A large feast was prepared in celebration, the large dining room table covered in food. Everyone ate and drank, the manor filled with the sounds of joy and laughter, Hikaru and Sugoroku telling stories of their children when they were just born, Joey trying to stuff his face with as much food as possible while Mokuba and Noah teased him, Atem and Yugi stayed close together, the pharaoh refusing to let go of his beloved as they had warm smiles on their faces (they would announce their little secret in a few days, they didn’t want to over shadow the birth of Lillian and Seto’s daughter) and Amelia and Masami joined the group after helping Lillian with the after birth and ensuring she was alright, tucked in bed in her own bedroom.

Seto didn’t stay downstairs for long, taking Jasmine and some food up to the bedroom he shared with his wife so that she could have something to eat. The two shared a meal in bed, their daughter sleeping peacefully in her father’s arms, the man already wrapped around the little girl’s finger despite only being a few hours old. She eventually woke up so that Lillian could feed her before the small family cuddled together in bed, Lillian lying against her husband’s chest while Jasmine sleeps against hers, Seto’s arms around them both in a warm embrace, his threading through Lillian’s hair while his other hand rested on his daughter’s back, lightly tapping his fingers to ensure she remained asleep.

He was about to doze off when he sees something moving in the shadows out of the corner of his eye. He tenses up for a moment before seeing who it was as a familiar red head materializes, a slight smile on the woman’s face, “I believe congratulations are in order.” Rozu slowly glides over to the bed, her gaze falling on the new-born sleeping in Lillian’s arms, a dull aching filling the shadow woman’s heart, remembering a time when she held her boy’s in her arms before they were ripped from her arms.

She shoves her feeling’s away, “She’s beautiful.” Seto looks down at his daughter, watching her little face scrunch up as she wiggles around for a moment getting comfortable again, the man running fingers over her head gently, “Thank you…it’s still hard to believe that she’s here after everything that’s happened.” Rozu nods as she moves over to the window, the curtains slightly parted giving her a view of the snow covered garden outside, letting her mind wonder for a moment.

Seto watches her out of the corner of his eye, “You haven’t been around for a while…I assume you went back to your home…” he sees her shoulders tense up for a moment before they sagged, a look of defeat displaying through her whole body, “I wouldn’t call it home anymore…I don’t even recognise the landscape anymore…” she slowly pulls the curtain to the side, her palm resting against the cold glass, “The people I used to know are long gone…the lands have changed…the mountains that once stood tall have crumbled…my kingdom lays buried under an overgrown forest…the castles in the sky have faded into nothing…the islands that littered the sea have all drowned beneath the waves…including the one where the siren last saw my children…”

Seto frowns as he listens. He knew her story, her search for her boy’s after Lillian revealed to her that she had saved them long ago. The red haired woman was rarely in this world, only making an appearance once every few months. Lillian had told Rozu where she had taken the boys, the dragons she had encountered, who took the twins to their world where they would be safe. She had searched and searched for so long and from the sound of it, she had failed in her endeavours, “I’m sorry for you’re--”

“I felt them…”

Seto’s face went still, “What do you mean?” Rozu slowly turned to face him, instead of a look of despair and heart break, there was a soft gentle look in her eyes, “I felt them…their souls…I may not have found the island but I was in the area…and despite their being nothing I could still feel their spirits…they are still alive…” a tear runs down her cheek but instead of being black like they normally were, this one was clear, “…my sons are still alive…I may not be able to reach them yet and they may be in a completely different world but…I know I can find them…maybe not now…but someday…” she looks out the window at the falling snow, a wave of calm and peace filling her heart for the first time in eons, “…Someday I will hold them in my arms again…”

Seto slowly relaxed back in bed, “Well if it’s any constellation, I’m happy for you…” he looked down at Jasmine, “…even lost people like us deserve to be happy…” something he didn’t think he deserved for a very long time. Rozu only nodded as the room goes quiet again, the woman looking at Kaiba for a moment, “I couldn’t agree more…” she smiles slightly before slipping back into the shadows…

16 years later…in another world where the creatures were mystical and the people could bend the elements of fire, water, earth, fire and air to their will…where a war had been raging for 100 years…the being that could control all 4 elements returning to restore balance…

Emerging from the shadows of a town built by a peer stepped two teens…both wearing black cloaks to hide their faces…they walked out onto the docks, watching the endless sea. The shorter of the two pulled down his head, revealing his strange blond and red tipped spiky hair that was tied in a ponytail and black bangs, his eyes a swirling mix of red and violent…the millennium puzzle hanging from his neck. He looks around at the people walking around the pier. Some were browsing stalls, pushing carts, selling goods or loading wooden ships and boats. He couldn’t help but smirk, “Feels like we’ve stepped into the 14 hundreds hey Jazz.”

The other figure that towered over him removed her hood, her piercing blue eyes scanning the area, her hair tied in two long braids that hung past her shoulders. Around her neck was a thick choker with a blue gem attached to the front, a small Blue eyes white dragon pendent hanging beneath it, “You could say that again…” her eyes landed on a large metal ship docked nearby. Tilting her head as she watches a stout elderly man dressed in a red, black and purple robes walk down the gangplank, his white hair tied into a small bun at the top of his head. But that wasn’t who Jasmine had her attention on…no, she was focused on the teen walking beside the old man…dressed in red and black armour, his head shaven besides an ugly looking ponytail at the top of his skull and a rather nasty looking scar on his left eye…

Jasmine nudged Yugi’s shoulder, the shorter teen raising a brow before looking in the direction the tall girl had been looking in, seeing the scared teen. He smirks a little before turning back to the brunette, “You thinking that’s one of them? We can’t be that lucky.”

“It’s him…he has the same aura as her…I can…feel it…” she watches the teen and old man as they walked through the market, the scared boy looking rather annoyed as the man was rambling on about what he was buying…Yuri shakes his head as he couldn’t stop grinning, the eye on his puzzle glowing for a moment as two wisps of smoke appears on his shoulders, one glowing red and one glowing white. The strange haired teen looks at the two wisps that had taken the shape of two little figures, “Should we go over and cause some trouble to see what his capable of?” the white wisp shakes its head as it makes soft little whimpering noises while the red one nods its head enthusiastically.

Jasmine is about to responds when she hears someone screaming about cabbages in the distance…she looks up in time to see a figure disappearing into the sky on a glider with 2 other people hanging onto what looked like a bald headed monk. The corner of her lips curve into a smirk, “I believe trouble will make itself known in time. For now we need to stay hidden…plus we have the other brother to locate…” Yuri groans in frustration but is calmed when the wisps on his shoulders nuzzle his cheeks, the teen giggling as he holds up his hands for them to stand on, looking at the two misty like beings, “Guess we won’t be having fun just yet.” Jasmine rests her hand on Yuri’s shoulder, “Just have patients…this world has many mysteries to offer…”

Ok so you're trying to make cry on Kaiba's birthday??? This fic was very yummy. Just seeing them starstruck was just sososo good

I felt like I was giving myself cavities when I wrote this one. Just made it super sweet and sentimental. Wasn't even planning to write any smut originally, but I finished my library book at like 2am two nights before posting and thought "maybe I'll just jot some thoughts down and if it doesn't work out, I'll post it up to the part with Jou leading Seto to bed." The almost cliffhanger ending we have now was me going "OK tired now gonna go to bed." But it seemed like the ending works?

Part two of my Yugioh 10 years after DSOD AU (first part here!), this time we have Rebecca, Mokuba and Mai!

Here's some information and random thoughts about them:

Mai Kujaku / Mai Valentine:

She continued to duel professionally for a few years, but has taken a little break now. She's doing pretty well though, not only did she win quite a few DM tournaments, but she now gets invited to participate in autograph sessions and to take her deck on tour!

Now she's also a lot closer to Yugi and company, since she can live closer to then. She can often be seen going out with Jou and Yugi while talking about whatever hapened recently on their weeks.

Hasn't been having the greatest luck in love though. I imagine Jean-Claude Magnum would come back to annoy her at some point and get rejected again, and she has dated some other duelist friends of hers (i can imagine her and Vivian Wong having a thing at some point) but not anything that worked out for too long. She isn't very sad about that though, she's just happy to have friends that she feels like she can trust!

Mokuba Kaiba:

Taking some influence from Princess Adena from DM and also coming out as nonbinary someday! (Or X-Gender, since they live in Japan)

They had to stay some years pretty much acting as CEO of Kaibacorp, which wasn't the hardest thing they ever had to do, but was still quite stressful and time consuming. After Seto came back from the afterlife, they had a family reunion with a lot of screams, crying and hugs.

After that, Seto went back to become CEO after a few weeks, and Mokuba... decided to relax a bit. They realized that they can finally do whatever they wants since they're rich, so now they has kinda become a influencer of sorts.

So now, Mokuba makes some vlog-like videos for the internet talking about everyday life, and also plays some games on not-twitch and not-youtube, usually stuff like Capumon but also other stuff that Kaibacorp is releasing.

Rebecca Hawkins/Hopkins:

She stopped going into Duel Monsters Tournaments and other things like that after a while to focus on her studies, finally graduating at college at 15/16 years old! Now, she works as a freelancer in a lot of different tech companies, Kaibacorp included.

She isn't ultra close with Yugi's friends but she still goes out with them sometimes (and threatens to put a bunch or viruses if anyone reminds her of how obsessed she was with Yugi at one point).

She is now pretty close with some of the people around her own age, like Mokuba, Leon, etc. They play some online Duel Monsters games together, and she helps them to study for college (well, she fights with Mokuba for them to go study actually).

Episode 34

Jaden is already having nightmares about losing duel and dooming his friends to the shadow realm. Get this boy some therapy now.

No we are only on episode 34 of this series and the boy already feels so much pressure to be the hero.

Syrus bring up the nightmare and reminding Jaden of it. Chumley glaring at him.

I love the difference between Syrus, Chazz and Chumley having fun and messing around vs Jaden having all these dark thoughts about his current situation. About how dueling is no longer a game.

All the duel spirits leading their partners to the ‘spirit festival’

Why is there a portal to the spirit world in the boys bath???

You know au Jaden nearly lost it when he hear his Oto-san’s voice only to find out it was Kaiba man

I have a strong head cannon that Seto want a card that helped bring Blue eyes out faster, Pegasus made the card (a colab between the two) to Kaiba when Jaden was still young. He made it with Jaden’s love of heroes in mind and to poke fun at Kaiba. Seto hated it when he first saw it and wanted a redesign but then little Jaden squealed and was so pumped that Seto was a super hero!!! And you know it is a good card to get blue eye on to the field so he might as well keep it. Never mind the fact that Jaden loves it, that doesn’t factor in at all….

So when Jaden turns to find Kaiba man there he almost wants to cry. He’s under so much stress. And he really wants his Dads but he doesn’t want to put them in danger and now this duel spirit is here which is a reflection of his Oto-san and it’s just a lot

But then all of those feeling go as he jumps to the conclusion that this is a shadow rider trick. And he’s furious because that’s his Oto-san’s card and now he has to duel it for his life?? How many more of his families cards are going to try and kill him? Joey’s Jinzo and Red Eyes, Seto’s vampire lord, the Ishtar tomb keepers. And now Kiaba man!!!

And it doesn’t help that Kaiba man won’t tell him if he’s a shadow rider. No he just challenges the kid. Jaden of course accepts and then this man stands there and reads Jaden for filth. “I sense fear a deep fear of what losing will cost you and your friends” ratting out Jaden’s fear and insecurities to his friends

And then pulls out Blue eyes on the kid. I know cannon Jaden is just shocked by the card but Au Jaden is about to face his Oto-san’s spiritual protector being wielded by a ‘shadow rider’ who looks and sounds just like his Oto-san he’s not having a great time

I love that cannon Kaiba made Kaiba man that’s hilarious

“I summon myself” got to love Gx

“Witness the beast that will feast upon your souls.” Not the best thing to say to Jaden right now.

Au Jaden knows these cards, he knows these strategies. He grew up watching Oto-san defeat enemy after enemy using them. He’s dueled against them before. But he’s never won against his Oto-san before. And unlike his duel against Yugi’s deck this isn’t some copy cat taking the deck of a soon. No Kaiba man is dueling just like his Oto-san does.

Jaden is giving it all he’s got. He’s got Edgeman out and skyscraper. He’s able to take out one of the blue eye impressing everyone even Chazz.

But he’s full of fake confidence “I am so over my fear” he says while sweating. “The trick is to take what you’re afraid of and not let it happen.” Oh sweet boy no.

Kaiba man is immediately on him. He only beat one blue eyes. “The fate of you and your friends is still in the balance and you have to accept that and face it head on.” “This is how a true duelist lives not afraid of defeat but always ready to accept it this is the nature of dueling.”

Love Chazz being the one to recognize that the deck is the same as Seto Kaiba’s.

Blue eyes ultimate dragon!!! The fact that Jade dreamed of this dragon. Au Jaden has to be going crazy.

“If you won’t except defeat I’ll force it on you.” Defusing ultimate to get out three blue eyes is crazy.

Winged Kuiroh is all worried for his partner. And the first thing Jaden does is cry out for his friends

Oh Jaden was hurt in the duel.

“Defeat is nothing to be scared of Jaden. What matters is if you can get up after.” The whole duel was to comfort Jaden “are you afraid anymore.” “No im not.” “Because you faced it and you’re okay. And so are they.”

Kuriboh the one who brought them there just to help out Jaden.

Syrus why are you saying that these spirits are just cards.

I love Jaden thanking winged kuiboh.

In the au this is going to go crazy. At this point Jaden has faces his Dad’s/Uncle Atem’s deck (had to win it back form a theif) his Uncle Joey’s cards (Jinzo and Red Eyes) in shadow duels. He has to be freaked out. The cards that have always protected him are now being used against him, sometimes with his very soul on the line.

He’s stressed and afraid of what will happen to him and his friends if he doesn’t win. And this all leads to his nightmare about Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon attacking him and killing him and his friends. His Oto-san’s vampire lord was just used against him and it’s the only Ace from the original DM deck he hasn’t faced yet.

(He can’t even imagine facing off against Silent Magician or Gandora)

But he has this horrible nightmare and he just can’t shake it.

Winged Kuriboh reaches out to the other spirits about his partners dream and how to help him. His calls make it all the way to Yugi and Seto’s monsters. They are outraged at the thought of someone using them against Jaden and deeply hurt that Jaden now fears them.

They reach out to their duelist and while Yugi and Seto want to rush to their son and fix his problems for him they know they can’t. So they do the next best thing.

In a very Kaiba move, Seto send Kaiba man. He instructs him to use his deck and to not hold back. Jaden has to face this fear head on. He never wanted Blue eyes to be used against him or his family, so Jaden dream really hurts him to. If there is one card Jaden can trust will never hurt him it’s Blue Eyes. Sending Kaiba man will do two things. Show Jaden it’s okay to lose, and that blue eyes will never actually harm Jaden.

At the end of the duel Jaden is exhausted and his chest hurts from anxiety and his winds from Shadowrider and Camula, but he has no new injuries for Blue Eyes attacks.

Yes Winged Kuriboh set everything up but Kaiba man reports to Kaiba. He knows all about the duel.

Also question why do you think the writers let Jaden beat a copy of Yugi’s deck but lose to Kaiba’s like use different circumstances and lessons but it is interesting to look at.

Episode 35

Chazz if the goal is to go back to obelisk blue why did you go so hard on the room renovation?

Love that Jaden and Syrus just start jumping on his bed and then very casually “principle Sheppard says he wants to see you.” “What about?” “Oh just the fate of duel academy.” They are still jumping on the bed. I love that the school getting shut down at this point is so unexciting

Au Jaden hearing that someone wants to buy out duel academy. In his head “too-San is not going to like this.”

The. He hears that the person wants to fire all the teachers and shit down the school and he thinks back to all the times Seto angrily said he was going to fire all the teachers and possibly shut down the school “never mind he might be thrilled!” He won’t be. A Kaiba never loses

Love that Kaiba in cannon says “I don’t care about the money. It’s about the cards. Beat one of my students and the school is yours.”

You know au Seto was so excited for his son to whoop them. Jaden’s become the go to kid for duel academy. Seto’s sure that they will pick either Zane, top student, or Jaden as revenge for beating their brother on public television.

He did not expect them to pick their own kid brother. He hates these two with a fiery passion. He’s not worried. Jaden says that Chazz is a good duelist so he will trust the kid.

Seto is wild for saying yes to a duel between and adult and a child where the adult can use any card even super expensive. And the child can only use monster cards with less than 500

All the kids turning on Chazz and Chazz having to walk through the halls and listen to that crap

Jaden standing up for him “duelist don’t come much tougher.”

“That’s the problem.” I love that it’s Zane who catches on that Chazz’s deck is to strong

Dr banner you are a teacher. You have to have a better solution then go to the haunted well that’s full of angry abandoned spirits

Jaden is sing the theme song. You got to love a dub

Jaden goes with him because he’s worried about the duel spirits. Chazz is so chill about spirits. It’s just Jaden it doesn’t matter if he sounds crazy

The Ojama brothers!! All the weak duel spirits want to go. Chazz “anyone who wants to can come with me.” You are such a softy

I know him and Jaden picked up all of those cards together.

The animation of his brother’s fist shaking is a very nice detail.

It’s such a good duel. It’s the first time Chazz uses the Ojama’s and it’s such a great character moment for Chazz.

The boy who only cared about strength is using a weak deck and showing off his ability to strategize. It’s such a good show of Chazz’s growth.

Love that he makes them do his chant. But “you go bye bye” is still not the catchphrase you think it is you need.

Seto “of course he won. You really think I’d give my school to those two? They have a lot to learn about world domination.” Sir. Love the confidence but are you teaching classes on how to dominate the world now?

Chazz’s room in Slifer dorm is full of duel spirits and he’s so over it. His new family.

Episode 36

Bastian wants them all to be ready. But it’s the first time I’ve seen someone summon a monster to wake people up. (As serious as Bastian claims to be he really is just a silly kid like the rest of them.

Ahh the card crush episode. (In the sub isn’t Jaden like super confused by this concept??) Bastian please chose a different card to have a ‘not crush’ on

Tania bribing the students to build her an arena. (Aren’t they in love with her after she beat them?)

Alexis being upset that Tania won’t duel her.

Tania having two decks does make her a nice balance for Bastian and his six decks.

Tania these are children. 1st years 14-15 or is it 15-16? Either way they are babies. Not potential husbands.

Like she’s very fun and I love her energy. She keeps out smarting him and the Narrative makes them a good balance. And I know she comes back in season 3 and she’s a duel spirit. But how old are you???

Amazoness paladin has Mai hair and it’s a nice call back to her since she played the amazoness in DM

I know she’s doing this to distract him but Bastian falling for it. Sigh

Jaden is over this. Asking for barf bags. He’s so un serious.

Bastian losing because he got distracted by someone flirting with his relatable but also feels disrespectful.

She just kicked them all out and kept her man. Like wow.

Episode 37

Bastian and Tania broke up because he can’t win. This is the beginning of the down fall of Bastian. Is this why he goes crazy in season 2? Like he does get pushed to the side by the narrative. But he feels like everyone forgot about him. Did the fear of not being good enough start here?

He’s going through such a ruff break up. Bastian would blast Taylor Swift’s ‘down bad’

Jaden “just duel her again” “‘I’ll be your wingman.” I love the energy but maybe “don’t take no for an answer.” isn’t the best advise to give. No is always an answer.

Jaden is trying to hard to help his friend.

Immediately distracted by a duel. He takes up that duel offer so fast.

They are spiritually fist fighting. Gx is so ridiculous

Bastian is back! Hurray.

Her turning into a tiger is wild.

We will stop here for now. We got two really good episodes for the au and two Bastian episodes. I’ll probably switch somethings up in the Bastian duels or maybe I’ll leave them as is. We shall see when I get to writing this.
