Rememeber when Inej tricked Kaz into climbing onto a chapel roof with her in Crooked Kingdom and his response is “curse you and all your saints.” And then he smiles to himself without realizing it. SMILES? TO HIMSELF? What a loser. So whipped he’s out there thinking about how Inej outsmarted and smiling about it? The bastard of the barrel?? Being a member of the Six of Crows fandom, every time I read the phrase 'Brick by brick' I'm only reminded of the empire of Pekka Rollins that I have to bring down, along with my band of six traumatized and dramatic teenagers.

Really sweet Crow friendship thing we never seem to talk about: Kaz bought the Wraith for Inej, yes, but he bought it from Wylan. Wylan knew!

Imagine it!! Not only Kaz effectively confiding in Wylan by doing this, but also imagine Wylan spending the next week with Inej staying in his house knowing what was going to happen!! Like he probably didn’t know Kaz had found her parents but he knew she was getting the boat (and that would be her key to finding her parents herself if Kaz hadn’t done). Inej vanished from his house one morning to go to the docks at the crack of dawn and I like to imagine that he watched her from the window so happy and so joyous because he loves Inej and he loves Kaz and they’re going to be so happy

This is beautiful!!! And it’s CANON! Why don’t we talk about this more????

the brainrot has taken over. i haven't written stories, let alone fan fiction in years. however. kaz brekker lives in my mind rent free.

Kanej hobbies headcanon:

When she’s away at sea, Inej takes up knitting to pass the time. She gets really good at it.

As she’s on her way to visit Kaz and Wesper in Ketterdam she decides to knit Kaz some gloves

She makes sure to make the stitches bigger at the fingertips so he can still lockpick.

When she gives them to him he almost passes away right there on the spot.

He tells her, “This is the best gift I’ve ever been given” and she feels almost giddy

Kaz never takes them off.

After she leaves again, he decides to learn how to draw so he can capture her image while she’s away.

He’s actually really good at it, but there’s always something ever so slightly off that frustrates him. Eventually he gives up.

The next time Inej is in Ketterdam he asks her to teach him how to knit.

It’s frustrating but Inej helps him stay calm and eventually, he gets quite good.

Inej is the only one who knows he knits and he knows she’ll keep it a secret.

He likes knitting bc “you can hurt someone with a knitting needle.”

He always keeps a knitting needle up his sleeve with his other weapons

He makes gifts for all of the dregs, but no one knows it’s him.

When Inej is asked if it’s her, she just laughs and walks away

When Nina is asked about it she says it’s not her but she doesn’t know who it is

As the years go by and Kaz becomes more comfortable with touch, the gloves from Inej slowly become fingerless gloves, and then none at all.

He also gets really into sewing and is a MENACE with a sewing machine.

Inej gets really good at embroidery.

They make a lot of clothes for the other crows. Especially Wylan and Jesper.

When Kaz and Inej get engaged he decides he wants to make her wedding dress.

He doesn’t tell her that he’s making it because he wants to surprise her.

However, it’s not turning out how he wants, it’s not perfect.

Inej notices how agitated he is and knows something is up

The moment she confronted him he breaks and confesses bc he can’t lie to Inej.

Inej is both annoyed and also speechless.

She’s annoyed bc she literally has been searching for the perfect dress for months with Nina.

But that annoyance disappears quickly bc the dress Kaz made is literally perfect, it’s everything she was looking for.

Also at the same time he confesses about the drawings to.

She thinks they’re perfect and hangs all of them up.

We as a society do not talk enough about Freddy Carter's acting in EP 2x05, specifically the scene after the tea in Bhez ju

There are a lot of subtle things that a lot of people probably wouldn't pick up on unless you've had a panic/anxiety attack that I really admire and appreciate

From the moment that scene starts he is looking down, avoiding looking directly at anyone else

He has that exhausted, glazed over, not entirely present look

When he speaks it's quiet and slow, completely absent of the usual bite of sarcasm or annoyance

He only looks up and regains more of his usual attitude when Jesper speaks to him

And that could be interpreted in a couple different ways

Until then it's been all business talk, the seven of them all discussing the job. And as someone who has had a panic attack on the job in front of people ... it leaves a deep shame and embarrassment especially when it effects or hinders the job. And Kaz is obviously feeling that

But in a group conversation it's easier for him to avoid being the center of attention, yes he's still mostly leading the conversation, but the focus of the group is fairly evenly distributed between everyone

But Jesper makes it personal, he singles out Kaz and makes a comment directly to him and only him. And not just any comment. "It's as if I know you"

Now you could interpret that as simply Kaz having attention put on him and thus putting his facade of strength back on.

It could even be a fear of being known, or jesper noticing that he's struggling ... noticing his weakness. Of needing to mask it, so he looks up, he makes eye contact, he plays the character of Dirtyhands the gang leader and shoves everything else down

But I like to think of it another way.

Jesper is one of, if not the oldest friend Kaz has, and one of the people he trusts most. And Jesper may not have been present or known of Kaz's panic attack in shu han ... but he was there in the carriage to Hellgate. And what did he do? He immediately tried to help, and he never questioned it, never pried or made a big deal about it. He saw Kaz in a weakened state, and proved that he could be trusted with it, that he would help and not use it against him.

So rather than a fear of being seen in this moment, I see it was a comfort in being seen. "it's as if I know you" Jes may not know why Kaz panicked, or anything about his past, but he knows he has a weakness, and he doesn't think any differently towards him because of it.

And more than just the words he says, it's the way he says them, it's that usual casual way that Jesper talks, it's his lighthearted banter. It's normal ... as if nothing had happened.

And that is, in my opinion, why Kaz reacts the way he does. Because Jesper is safe, and with just a simple comment he has shown that he doesn't think any less of Kaz, and not even just Kaz as a gang boss but him as a person.

Kaz makes eye contact with him, and regains more of his usual attitude and behaviors for the rest of the scene, and that is, in my opinion, because of Jesper. Not because he is trying to fake normalcy to avoid being seen, but because he has been seen, and accepted without question or negativity. Jes has taken away his embarrassment and shame in that moment, not all of it, of course. But enough to handle, enough to go back to the task at hand, to move on to the next thing instead of focusing on his failures

This was supposed to be a praise of Freddy Carter capturing that post panick attack hangover but the kazper brainrot took over whoopsie

Okay maybe I’m just late to the party realising this but you guys when Kaz talks about Geels and his girlfriend in chapter 2 of Six of Crows is it meant to be implicit reference to him and Inej as a set up for the rest of the duology???

This is the quote that made me think this just now:

“You love her, don’t you? Of course you do, no-one that fine should have ever looked twice at Barrel scum like you but she’s different. She finds you charming. Sure sign of madness if you ask me, but love is strange that way”

And then that’s followed by Geels giving up on all the planning and scheming he’s done to be able to kill Kaz so that Kaz won’t hurt Elise!?

The entire scene is about Kaz trusting Inej blindly to get to the other guard on time and save his life??

They talk about *geraniums* in the window box of 19 Burdtradt!!?????

The more I think about this the more I love it but idk maybe I’m reading into it too much? Lemme know what you guys think
